Essay About My New School
Crafting an essay about your new school might initially seem like a straightforward task, given
that the subject matter is personal and close to your own experiences. However, the apparent
simplicity can be deceiving, as the challenge lies in striking the right balance between conveying
your thoughts and emotions while maintaining a coherent and engaging narrative.
Firstly, you need to delve into your memories and reflections, extracting the most significant
aspects of your transition to the new school. This requires introspection and the ability to
identify key moments that have shaped your initial impressions. The challenge here is not just to
list events chronologically but to weave them together seamlessly, creating a narrative that
captivates the reader's interest.
Moreover, you must be mindful of your audience. Tailoring your essay to resonate with readers
who may not share your specific experiences necessitates a delicate approach. Balancing the
personal with the universal is a constant juggling act – ensuring your story is relatable while
maintaining its unique flavor.
The difficulty further intensifies when you aim to articulate your emotions effectively.
Describing your feelings about the new school requires a level of vulnerability and introspection
that can be challenging to express accurately. Striking the right tone is crucial; you want to be
honest and authentic without veering into sentimentality or excessive detail.
Structuring the essay poses another set of challenges. Arranging your thoughts in a logical
sequence, ensuring smooth transitions between paragraphs, and maintaining coherence are
essential. The danger lies in either overwhelming the reader with a barrage of unrelated
anecdotes or presenting a disjointed narrative that lacks flow.
In conclusion, writing an essay about your new school involves navigating a delicate balance
between personal reflection and universal appeal. It demands the ability to articulate emotions,
structure thoughts coherently, and connect with a diverse audience. It's a task that requires both
creativity and precision to ensure the final product is not only a reflection of your experiences
but also a compelling piece of writing.

What Was The Truman Doctrine Essay
Right from the start of the Cold War, after the Second World War (1939 1945), the
European continent was split up once more and two ideologies were considered to
dominate most countries. The Truman doctrine, established in 1947 by the President
of the United States of America forged the Western bloc and put forward capitalism
as a strong political ideology . Following this doctrine was the initiation of the
Marshall plan, a financial and military help, which goal was to reduce The Soviet
Unions influence on eastern countries. The leading force of the Eastern bloc, the
Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (U.S.S.R.) answered to the United Statesdoctrine
with the Zhdanov doctrine which divided the world between the imperialists , the
United States and the socialists , the Soviet Union. Communism was the ideology in
the U.S.S.R. and its allied countries. Defeated after the end of the Second World
War, Germany was split in four occupation zones as it was discussed at the Potsdam
Conference (July August 1945). The three zones belonging to the western countries
(French zone, British zone and American zone) were unified and thus opposed to the
soviet zone. Berlin, a strategic city within the eastern part of Germany, was itself
divided and thus West Berlin became an enclave. In the 1950s,... Show more content

Uncertainty Reduction Theory And Uncertainty Reduction
Theory
Being away from home for the first time and having to start over and make all new
friends can be both exciting and intimidating at the same time. When I first moved
into my freshmen dorm at UNCW three years ago, I was certainly feeling this rush
of emotions. I was excited to meet new people, but also scared I wouldn t make
any friends who I connected as well with as my high school friends. I was
especially nervous about having to live with a roommate who I hardly knew. I had
always heard horror stories from my older friends and family members about
having a crazy roommate who they just couldn t get along with. Fortunately, my
roommmate Kelly and I became great friends and were not only able to survive
freshmen year of college, but continued to live together all four years of college. This
transformation in our relationship from virtual strangers, to the best of friends can be
explained by Charles Berger s Uncertainty Reduction Theory. Uncertainty Reduction
Theory is the assumption that when strangers meet, their primary concern is one of
uncertainty reduction or increasing the predictability about the behavior of both
themselves and others in the interaction. We are motivated to search for this
information for one of more of three reasons anticiptation of future interaction,
incentive value, and deviance. With Kelly my motives were mostly based on
anticipation of future interaction. Not only would I see her again, but I would have
to interact with on a daily basis on a
The Pros And Cons Of The Cuban Embargo
The new era began, Barack Obama and RaГєl Castro announced that the United
States of America and Cuba will restore full diplomatic relations for the first time in
more than 50 years since severing ties in 1961. Barston 2006, defines diplomatic
relations as the art and practice of conducting negotiations between representatives of
states. It usually refers to international diplomacy, the conduct of international
relations through the intercession of professional diplomats with regard to issues of
peace making, trade, economics and culture (p. 1). One of the major areas it will
address is the lifting of the Cuban embargo. The embargo restricts trade, travel and
communication between the two states which hinders the economic development of

According to Scola (2014) It is estimated that only 5 percent of the Cuban population
has access to the open Internet . All Internet connections in Cuba are available
exclusively through Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Cuba S.A. (ETECSA).
Because wireless Internet service is not available to the general population, landline
Internet is the sole means of connecting people in Cuba to the Internet. The
combination of inadequate infrastructure and the government s deliberate policy
which controls access to the internet have produced an extremely slow service that is
not widely available throughout the population. With better diplomatic relations with
the United States the Cuban government can benefit greatly from
telecommunications mostly internet advancements which can positively affect the
economy in many ways. First, it can reduce the cost of production. Second, it can
increase revenues. Third, it can increase employment through both direct and indirect
effects and lastly it provides channels of communication to avert humanitarian

Introduction:
Recently, China and Colombia trade relations are stronger than before. Colombian
Java International sells their coffee to Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai
in China and the rate of export products is increasing. Therefore, our team suggests
Colombia exports their products from Tumaco seaport to China s Hong Kong port
and Shanghai port by using Maersk Group shipping company and China COSCO
company. After the products are arrived in Hong Kong and Shanghai port, we
recommend to use S.F. Express logistic company to deliver the products to
Guangzhou and Beijing city.
Colombia:
About the Tumaco seaport. This is a good seaport for our plan. Because when we
transfer the cargo from Colombia to Hong Kong. It only crosses the Pacific, and
then it will arrive the Hong Kong. Without this seaport, the vessel will cross the
Panama Canal. If the company do not want cross the Panama Canal, they will have a
pretty long trip to transfer the cargo. About the shortest trip, it has 9209.56 mile

Compare And Contrast Indian Architecture And Japanese...
In any well developed region and national culture there are periods of rejection of the
past and periods of revival. These periods are often reflected through architecture as
architects, developers, engineers, lay people and even the national governments seek
to reflect history with the inclusion of modernity, meaning modern buildings with
elements of tradition as well as all the modern amenities sought by users. In an
architectural sense much of the focus is on theory within the academy, while the
actual development of a great deal of architectureis not produced by university trained
architects. There are few better national examples than Japan and India as they seek
through laws and standards as well as architectural artistic vision to reinvent the
visions of the past with modern buildings that meet modern needs including
infrastructural needs to express safety, convenience and ergonomics but do not deny
regionalism.
The greatest challenge for both India and Japan in the modern world of architecture is
to define what is regional and what is modern and make it fit in a global architectural
vision, without framing a loss of national identity as a natural outgrowth. In both
India and Japan the architectural industry including not just university trained
architects relying heavily on theory and international trends but on lay designers who
often make up the bulk of national designers and builders, struggle with the marriage
of international views and standards in
Facades And String Concerto No. 3 Essay
Compositions such as Company, Facades and String Quartet No. 3 (the last two
extracted from the scores to Koyaanisqatsi and Mishima) gave way to a series of
works more accessible to ensembles such as the string quartet and symphony
orchestra, in this returning to the structural roots of his student days. In taking this
direction his chamber and orchestral works were also written in a more and more
traditional and lyrical style. In these works, Glass often employs old musical forms
such as the chaconne and the passacaglia for instance in Satyagraha,[17] the Violin
ConcertoNo. 1 (1987), SymphonyNo. 3 (1995), Echorus (1995) and also recent works

A Research Study On Sociology
Sociology is a study that requires detailed scrutiny and exploration. Comparatively,
it is as meticulous as science in that it demands that those who aspire to publish a
theory research, research, and research again. The same results must be calculated
repeatedly and every thought must be correlated and consistent. A sociologist who
was remarkably successful at doing such was George Herbert Mead. It was said of
his thoroughness at his death by Professor John Dewey that, he threw himself
completely into whatever he had to do in all the circumstances and relations which
life brought to him (Dewey 309). Likewise, in the same setting, Professor Dewey
speaks of his thoughtprocess stating that his ideas were always genuinely original;
they started one thinking in directions where it had never occurred to one that it was
worthwhile even to look (Dewey 311). Consequently, Mead is responsible for
creating a whole branch in sociologycalled symbolic interactionism. This branch
brought attention to the symbols in society and the correlations between them in
ways that sociologist had yet to address. Though it is primarily rooted in American
thought, the life of George Herbert Mead and his work has revolutionized how
sociologist and psychologist consider symbols and their effect on society around the
world.
Biography
The life of George Herbert Mead began in February of 1863. His childhood was
molded by a Puritan father and many of his mannerisms later in life stemmed from
this.
Othello Illusion Vs Reality Essay
Every day we are constantly meeting new people and with meeting new people
comes new personalities. Some may be our friend while others may be hypocritical.
But at the end true colors are revealed. Illusion verses reality is one of the many
themes expressed in Othello by William Shakespeare. There are many examples
shown through the character Othellowhere the misconception of illusionand reality
leads to misfortune. This is displayed when Othello develops an outrageous jealousy
due to Iago manipulating him, or when there s irrelevant hatred created between
Othello and Cassio because of these manipulations. When Iago s schemes work it
fools Othello s gullible personality, resulting in him doubting his love for Desdemona.

Due to Iago s perception of Othello being naГЇve, Iago uses his phenomenal
understanding of the human psyche as his ability to orchestrate pre planned
scenarios. Iago is successfully and carefully able to manipulate Othello s thoughts
into thinking Desdemona has been unfaithful and that it was false love. I called
my love false love, but what he said then? (IV, iii, 59) This is significant because
Desdemona is beginning to realize that the love Othello had for her must have
been false she s worried that Othello will leave her. Due to Othello s inability to
differentiate between delusion and reality it s bringing forth disaster leading to
their relationship suffering. Othello being able to trust people easily allowed Iago
s words to manipulate him into making a tremendously poor decision which was
killing Desdemona. Put out the light, and then put out the light, (V,ii, 7) This quote
is paramount because Othello blows out the candle just before he strangles
Desdemona which symbolizes Desdemona s fragile life and because he is so
manipulated by Iago there is no turning back and he is ready to kill her. Othello
muses that the difference between Desdemona s life and a candle s light is that he
can put out and relight the candle but he cannot bring Desdemona back to life. The
thought of not being able to bring Desdemona back to life did not stop him from
murdering Desdemona,

The Influences in the Advancements of Prosthetics
From peg legs and hooks to robotic arms and legs, prosthetics have made an
outstanding leap. Prosthetics have enabled amputees to regain mobility and their
lives. The advancements in prosthetics have also led to a better understanding in
surgical amputation and the construction of prosthetics. The question is what
influenced the advancements of prostheticsand how it affected prosthetics. The
answer lies within the history and the physiological components of prosthetics.

Physiological Components The impact of amputation can have many emotional
effects on amputees. Many amputees go through a period of low self esteem and
emotional adjustment after losing a limb. Some amputees view themselves of
having a problem. This viewpoint is not relatively new, it has been the mindset of
amputees for centuries. In the feudal era, knights often had prosthetics made into
their armor to appear as if they had all their biological limbs. However, these
prosthetics were virtually useless. These views that affected prosthetics can be
easily seen today. Cosmesis is a type of prosthetic that can model real limbs with
extreme detail such as skin color, freckles, and even hair. Besides the limitations of
cosmesis, many amputees report that most people can not distinguish the prosthetic
from the real limb (Bowers). Cosmesis is an ongoing study to provide amputees with
a life like prosthesis that offers function and mobility. The desire to gain
independence and acceptance of the prosthesis may also influence the advancements
of prosthetics.
War Throughout history, many people became amputees through serving in the
military. War has influenced the advancements of prosthetics. The Civil War and the
World War inspired the advancements of prosthetics and provided a gateway to the

The Social Issue Of Ideal Body Image
Body image is an issue known around the world, just like eating disorders, it is
most commonly seen in woman; however, there are men that suffer from this issue
as well. The social issue of ideal body image affects people of all ages regardless of
gender or ethnicity. Body image is the way one sees their own body in their mind,
and they may not feel confident within their own skin, or they may feel unaccepted
in society. A person may feel they might not be skinny enough, big enough, tall
enough, dark enough, ultimately they will feel they are not enough to fit into what
is acceptable in the social order around them. People begin forming rash conclusions
or observations of their own body s attractiveness, health, and appropriateness, in
early childhood. However, for today s ideal body image, it is just another passing
trend that does not reduce the desire children, teenagers, or even adults may have
to follow ideal standards of beauty and attractiveness. Meanwhile because of the
epidemic with body image there has been one half of females and one third of
males as young as six that have engaged in some sort of dietary behavior. Social
influences that can potentially cause people to form ideas about positive and
negative body image can play an important role in the way a person may live their
lives, and such influences can be things such as, family, friends, and social media.
Family can play an enormous roll in forming a body image within family making

The Life of Johannes Kepler Essay
The Life of Johannes Kepler
HIS LIFE
Johannes Kepler was a German astronomer and mathematician ho discovered that
planetary motion is elliptical. Early in his life, Kepler wanted to prove that the
universe obeyed Platonistic mathematical relationships, such as the planetary orbits
were circular and at distances from the sun proportional to the Platonic solids (see
paragraph below). However, when his friend the astronomer Tycho Brahedied, he
gave Kepler his immense collection of astronomical observations. After years of
studying these observations, Kepler realized that his previous thought about
planetary motion were wrong, and he came up with his three laws of planetary
motion. Unfortunately, he did not have a unifying theory for ... Show more content on

Each interior angle of an equilateral triangle is 60В°, therefore we could fit together
three, four, or five of them at a vertex, and these correspond to the tetrahedron, the
octahedron, and the icosahedron. Each interior angle of a square is 90В°, so we
can fit only three of them together at each vertex, giving us a cube. The interior
angles of the regular pentagon are 108В°, so again we can fit only three together at a
vertex, giving us the dodecahedron.
That makes five regular polyhedra. However, what would happen if we had a six
sided figure? Well, its interior angles are 120В°, so if we fit three of them together
at a vertex the angles add up to 360В°, and therefore they lie flat. For this reason we
cannot use hexagons to make a Platonic solid. In addition, obviously, no polygon with
more than six sides can be used either, because the interior angles just keep getting
larger.
The Greeks, who had to find religious truth in mathematics, found the idea of exactly
five Platonic solids very compelling. The philosopher Plato concluded that they must
be the fundamental building blocks of nature, and assigned to them what he believed
to be the essential elements of the universe. He followed the earlier philosopher
Empedocles in assigning fire to the tetrahedron, earth to the cube, air to the
octahedron, and water to the icosahedron. To the dodecahedron, Plato assigned the

America has to face problems that lead to either success or failure. It is up to the
president to decide the best way to handle those situations. Unfortunately, most
presidents fail to thrive in those positions due to pressure and uncertainty of the

Hollywood Music Research Paper
It is common belief that music was first incorporated into films in the early 1900 s,
to help drown out the noises the projector made during viewing. In the early days,
this musical coverage was provided by an in house musician; then it later evolved
into entire orchestras. In both accompaniments, the musician or musicians would be

the filmwhile it was being shown. In almost all instances, the music consisted of

Mexico has had many issues in the past, but one that still haunts them is inequity.
The rich people stay rich, while the poor people also stay poor. Mexico gives
people and opportunity to build a good life and while some people are successful,
other aren t so lucky. Which leads to another current issue in Mexico which is
education. Education is very poor in Mexico, and students tend to be behind
compared to other students from different countries.

Stress in the Emergency Department
Stress, Burnout, and Compassion Fatigue in the Emergency Department Background
Nursing is a field that many enter with the intention of helping and providing care to
those with mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs (Lombardo Eyre, 2011).
Many consider nursing as their calling; yet have not prepared themselves for the
emotional and physical implications that come from having interpersonal
relationships with families and patients. As nurses care for the ill, traumatized, and
vulnerable patients in their charge, they inadvertently expose themselves to the pain,
suffering, and trauma that their patients are experiencing on a regular basis.
When the continued stress of this field is not dealt with, one can become a victim of
the overwhelming need that surrounds them, which can result in burnout or
compassion fatigue. This not only effects ones physical and emotional health, but
also results in decreased productivity and job satisfaction, as well as increasing job
turnover rate (Lombardo Eyre, 2011; Boyle, 2011). This concept is predominantly
true of those working in the Emergency Department, and is actually where the
context of compassion fatigue was first noted approximately two decades ago, but is
also seen across the spectrum of health care providers in all areas (Boyle, 2011).
This topic will be discussed further in the words following, as well as an exploration
of ways to overcome compassion fatigue in the workplace.

Clearwater Seafoods case
Summary: Clearwater Seafood (Clearwater) is a seafood company located on the
east coast of Canada, and Clearwater Seafood income Fund with operations around
the world. As a result of the increasing importance of the Canadian dollar relative to
other currencies of the world, Clearwater recently stopped paying their distributions.
The decision faced by the financial director to determine the strategy of the company
should take to enable it to recover its distribution. This is due to the choice between
various financial and operational resources to hedge currency risks that brought the
company to its current situation Background: Clearwater was founded in 1976 at

The availability of seafood in Canadian and Argentinean waters is also dependent
on the total allowable catch allocated to Clearwater in a given area. Although the
totals allowable catch in these areas and Clearwater s enterprise allocations have
been largely stable, fishery regulators have the right to make changes in the total
allowable catch based on their assessment of the resource from time to time. Any
reduction of total allowable catches in the areas from which Clearwater sources
seafood, or the reduction of stocks due to changes in the environment or the health
of certain species, may have a material adverse effect on Clearwater s financial
condition and results of operations. Resource risk is managed through adherence to
the Department of Fisheries and Oceans ( DFO ) policies and guidelines. The
guidelines, developed by DFO, are very often a cooperative effort between industry
participants and DFO. Clearwater mitigates the risk associated with resource supply
and competition through the diversification across species. Clearwater s operating
costs may be negatively affected by increases in inputs, such as energy costs, raw
material and commodity prices. Clearwater uses fuel, electricity, air and ocean freight
and other materials in the production, packaging and distribution of its products. Fuel
and freight are

Advertising
As eBay is a web based company dealing with commerce (the buying and selling of
products), the organization requires very little public advertising as most of the
organization s advertisements are circulated throughout the internet. However, there
are still quite a number of public advertising that can be seen throughout the world.

Personal Selling
During the starting years of eBay, Pierre Omidyar adopted a very simple approach
into selling, which is, there is always a market for any product that you are selling,
the only challenge is in finding that right target market.
So instead of establishing a retail store that simply deals with the buying and selling
of products, Pierre instead adopted the approach of getting people connected from all
over the world.
Over 40 Million products are sold over eBay, not through their own manufacturing
power but rather through the collective collection of the people, distributors, and
manufacturers.
Furthermore, for a fact that there a number of manufacturers whom are registered
users that are selling directly to consumers is also a form of personal selling.

The Modern Life Span Perspective Essay
Some scientist and theorist believe that a person s current position in life is the
result of a combination of their experiences and interacting influences. This can
occur from infancy through very old age, even before birth. For example, career
choices can be affected by personal experiences or inborn abilities. This may be
from the individual or the influence of adult role models, which can be positive or
negative. According to Sigelman, Rider, De George Walker (2013), human
developmentis shown to be very complex, with many interconnected processes
through the modern lifespan perspective. This context is based on seven key
assumptions, where I will analyse in depth in this paper and will show how the
modern life span perspective is relevant to my decision to become a Social worker
based on my experiences.
The life span perspective in Paul Baltes view is the study of constancy and change in
behaviour throughout the life course from conception to death. (Baltes, 1987, p.611).
Being a development psychologist, Baltes constructed seven frameworks that shows
that development is multi directional, which means different processes of change all
through the lifespan. Secondly, development is multiply influenced by a person s
development, an effect brought about from both biological and environmental
factors. Thirdly, understanding development requires multiple disciplines,
development that analyse in all directions so that it can be understood through many
perspectives

The Concept of Comparative Advantage
The comparative advantage The concept of the comparative advantage was first
coined in 1817 by economist David Ricardo, in his On the principles of political
economy and taxation. The underlying idea of the comparative advantage theory is
that the countries possess different resources and capabilities and they can produce
some specific items in a more efficient manner than other countries can produce the
same items, or more efficiently that the same country can produce other items. In
such a setting then, the countries would best decide to produce the items for which
they possess a comparative advantage, and then exchange them within the
international market place, for items for the production of which they do not possess
a comparative advantage (Pullen, 2006). Today, the application of the comparative
advantage is revealed mostly at the level of the leading economic powers in the
world, who seek to create advantages in terms of exports, and as such maximize their
gains (Acharya, 2008). The concept and application of the comparative advantage
theory has raised vast interest throughout the past century, and this interest is revealed
at both theoretical and well as practical level. Furthermore, as the modern day society
becomes more and more engaged in globalization and market liberalization, the
application of the comparative advantage theory is gaining more momentum. Within
the economic literature for instance, various researchers have approached the issue of

Machiavellianism In Othello
At one point in your life, you have probably told a little white lie or harmlessly
tricked someone into doing something. However, there are some people,
Machiavellians, who are master manipulators that will resort to anything in order to
reach a goal. In Shakespeare s Othello, Iago can be seen as a dominantly
Machiavellian villain. First, Iagopossesses a Machiavellian personality due to the
way he manipulates people s flaws in order to use them as stepping stones to reach
his goal of getting revenge on Othello(Hartley). For instance, when Iago begins his
machination to harm Othello, he tells Brabantioof how an old black ram/ Is tupping
[his] white ewe (I. I. 94 95). Iago purposely exploits Brabantio s racism in order to
Plague him... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead, Iago is a careful, patient [opportunist] who can control his impulses well
(Hartley). To exemplify, Iago says that he will abuse Othello s ear/ That [Cassio] is
too familiar with his wife (I. III. 405 406). Thus, Iago is planning out his evil
schemes and thinking them through, showing how he is more calculating than
spontaneous. Similarly, Iago states that he will put the Moor/ At least into a
jealousy so strong/ That judgement cannot cure and Make the Moor thank me, love
me, and reward me (II. I. 308 310, 316). Again, Iago concocts his machinations in
prior to actually carrying them out instead of acting rashly, like a psychopath would.
Moreover, when Iago discovers that Emilia found Desdemona s treasured
handkerchief, he tells himself that he will in Cassio s lodging lose this napkin,/ And
let him find it so that Othello will suspect that Desdemona has been unfaithful (III.
III. 358 359). Therefore, Iago, like other Machiavellians, is a thoughtful and patient
opportunist that slyly takes advantage of any situation that will help him advance in
his goals. Unlike psychopaths, Iago solely stands by and watches his premeditated
ploys unfold around
Methods For Creating A Program
As the focus and scope of the project evolved, so did the methods used to find a
solution to the scheduling problem. The approach to creating a program had
several stages, including a method to define several distinct weeklong schedules to
combine, a method taking into account non standardized class schedules, and a
method combining consistent schedules with additional constraints. These
approaches were each based on the current understanding of the scope and
requirements of the project. In the first stage of the project, the focus was on
creating several week long schedule blocks, composed of mixed shift lengths, that
could be combined together over the entire year to achieve a schedule complying
with the ACGME. These schedule blocks would be grouped by their intended use,
such as which day a clinic session was on, day shifts or night shifts, specific
educational blocks like the GPC, and split between first and second/third year
residents. This schedule would be implemented on top of previously assigned
educational units and clinic sessions, and optimized for the correct number of
residents during each hour of the day. Figure 3A demonstrates the schedule blocks,
showing the hours assigned by each block over the course of a Wednesday. This
method also included an implementation of the previously defined linear program,
allowing scheduling blocks to be efficiently created for each of the situations required
by the method. As more information was gathered, it became clear

I am writing this entry, sitting at a desk in Scone. I have recently witnessed my
dear friend Macbeth crowned King of Scotland. I am still in shock after the strange
happenings of the past few days, so I am not yet overcome with neither joy nor
grief. I should be happy for Macbeth, yet I feel that something inside me will not
allow me to be so. These events, I fear, have not happened by chance, but that
something evil, something supernatural is at work.

just defeated the ghastly Norwegians, though by uncivilized means. Macbeth
rightly said So foul; and fair a day I have not seen . Not far into our journey, we
came upon three weird sisters. They all hailed Macbeth Thane of Glamis, Thane of
Cawdor, and king hereafter. True, he was Thane of Glamis, but we were puzzled, to
say the least, about the other two statements. As I was intrigued, I questioned them
about my future. In reply, they told me that my sons would me kings, and that I
would be Lesser than Macbeth, and greater . This confuses me greatly, for had they
not just said that Macbeth would be king? Of course, I chose not to believe these
instruments of darkness .

Amazingly, minutes after the sisters had vanished,
Macbeth was announced Thane of Cawdor. We

Image and Text: A Feminist Narrative , with which it will be opening its door to the

are integrated with one another in the creation of contemporary art, artists are able to
produce powerful and extremely effective messages of their choice. However, just
because the image and text are displayed together, does not mean they relate to each
other, as the text can either support the image, or contradict the image in order to
demonstrate the transparency of either or both elements (Williams and Simpson,

are, contemporary American artist, Barbara Kruger and contemporary Australian
artist, Jenny Watson. Here at GOMA were have created the Image and Text: A

Watson have used both text and image to convey personal, dream, socio political and
feminist narratives. Whilst Barbara Kruger is an American feminist whose work is
centred around critiquing advertising culture and the representation of women during
said advertising, Jenny Watson is an Australian feminist who uses expressive
figurative images and incorporates text panels similar to autobiographical diary

Analysis Of Unwind
Unwind Message
Many people will go through experiences in their lives where they feel like they are
changing. It is as if life has dealt them enough experiences that their personalities
have been altered because of it. Unwind by Neal Shusterman shows how the past
experiences people go through may dictate who they become and the decisions they
may make in the future through the lives of Roland, Admiral Dunfee, and Lev.
Throughout the novel, Roland is portrayed as an aggressive young man who has the
desire to fight anyone who gets in his way. Yet as the readers soon discover, he is a
young man with a very troubled past. Roland s past shapes who he becomes today
in that he is very distrusting of women due to the experiences he has gone through.
As Connor finds out in the basement of the antique shop, Roland s mother
essentially abandoned him for her husband. As the novel states, That s not what did
him in, though. Roland had beaten up his stepfather for beating his mom. The
mother took her husband s side, and the stepfather got off with a warning. Roland,
on the other hand, was sent to be unwound (Schusterman 99). After Roland s mother
abandoned him for his stepfather, he began to fight other individuals in order to
gain power. Another example of Roland s distrust for women comes at the very end
of the novel when he is being unwound and he is recalling memories from his past.
Roland recalls, When I was three, I had a babysitter. She was beautiful. She shook
my sister. Real hard. My sister got wrong. Never got right again. Beautiful is
dangerous. Better get them first (Schusterman 293). After this experience, Roland is
likely to never trust women, or other beautiful people, again. For him to experience
both his mother s abandonment and his sister s injuries at the hand of the babysitter,
Roland chooses not to trust women again, resulting in his poor treatment of Risa, and
the other females he comes in contact with.
Admiral Dunfee, similarly, is affected by his past. When the novel first introduces
the Admiral, he is portrayed as a cold hearted dictator in charge of hundreds of
Unwinds, but there is a reason the Admiral comes off as distant. When the Unwinds
first arrive at The Graveyard, they are expected to
The Harsh Reality Of Deforestation
The Harsh Reality of Deforestation If you ask a random individual to describe a
landscape to you, any landscape that they can imagine from anywhere in the world,
the odds are that they will mention an environment with trees. This is almost
inevitable as every type of biome harbors some kind of tree, except for one: the
arctic. Through new forms of science, researchers were even able to calculate just
how many trees were on the earth. According to this recent study the answer is
somewhere around 3.04 trillion. That s about 400 trees for every person. (Netburn 1).
The fact is that trees are necessary factors in maintaining the balance our planet
requires to sustain life for all living things. Without trees, existence is impossible for

By cutting down forests there is not only the loss of precious resources, but also the
risk of extinction for numerous, tropical species. However, the impacts of
deforestation on animals are not seen immediately since many of the side effects
occur over time. As stated by Ian Sample, Though few species are killed off
directly in forest clearances, many face a slower death sentence as their breeding
rates fall and competition for food becomes more intense (Sample 1).
Deforestation can attribute to a lack of resources, which in turn creates a battle of
the fittest scenario for most species. Only the smartest and strongest breeds are
able to survive in these circumstances, leaving the weaker ones to starve and
eventually die off. A decrease in food and shelter, along with an increase in
competition, is a deadly combination for many animal genera. Another detrimental
side effect of deforestation is poaching. When these forests are cleared, animals are
left in the open without a source of protection or camouflage, making them much
easier for poachers to reach. If the loss of their habitat does not kill them, it is likely
that illegal hunting will. Deforestation plays a prime role in climate change as well.
When trees are cut down or burned, carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere.
This is incredibly dangerous, as global warming by definition is the result of too
much carbon dioxide in
Analysis Of One Art By Elizabeth Bishop
After quick scan of the poem One Art , the reader should recognize the poem as
having the closed form. The poem is regular, symmetrical, and falls into stanzas. The
first five stanzas have three lines and the last stanza contains four lines. A longer
peruse of One Art will help the reader identify the villanelle form. The first lineof the
poem is repeated in the 2nd, 4th and 6th stanzas, while the last word of the first stanza
(3rd line) is repeated in the 3rd, 5th, and 6th stanzas. The poem appears to have the
powerful music effect that is usually associated with a villanelle. The poem hints at
being autobiographical after reading about Elizabeth Bishop s life in the Lives of the
Poets section of the text Literature an Introduction to Fiction, Poetry, and Drama. The
personal voice also hints at the poem being autobiographical. Further analysis of
the poem and Bishop s life leads to the discovery of confessional
poetry.Researching The Microsoft Encarta 96 Encyclopedia tells us that Elizabeth
Bishop s works will usually highlight the sense of strangeness that can underlay
ordinary events ( Elizabeth Bishop ). The text (Literature an Introduction to
Fiction, Poetry, and Drama) makes reference to Bishop s use of metaphor.
Elizabeth Bishop refers to losing as an art. The American Heritage Talking Dictionary
defines art as a skill that is practiced ( art ). One Art makes specific reference to
practicing losing (line 7). Loss is defined as a condition of being deprived
Factors Influencing Labor Productivity On Building...
Chapter 1: Introduction
Need of the project
Productivity in construction is broadly outlined as output per labor hour. Labor
Productivity in any construction project is units of work placed or produced per
labor hour, which directly influences the total project cost, completion time period
and project quality. Hence, it is very crucial for us to have in detail information of the
factors which positively or negatively influences the productivity so that we can take
required action to mitigate the negative effects and reinforce the positive effects.
Moreover, aluminum formwork is the dynamic evolution the construction industry
which has been adopted for advanced construction in various segments, hence its
productivity is of utmost important for its complete acceptance in the industry. This
research will focus on determining the factors which changes the output given by the
laborers working with aluminum formwork. This will help in enhancing the physical
progress of the project by applying the tool or remedy subjected to a particular factor.
Project Objective
The aim of this analysis is to identify factors influencing labor productivity in building
construction with attention on formwork operations and to understand its variations
attributable in direct impact on labor productivity. This research focuses on
determining the relationship between various attributes which effect labor
productivity by collecting real time responses from job site. It is to be done by taking
Analysis Of Sunday In The Park
In the short story of Sunday in the Park, the focus of the story is centered on a small
family of three and the events that occurred while enjoying a day in the park. The
husband Morton, his wife, and their small boy Larry, are spending the afternoon day
in the park. Larry, playing in the sandbox with another young boy named Joe, is
threatened when Joe throws sand at him. The events that follow show that a happy
and joyful experience can quickly escalate into one of frustration, disappointmentand
anger, not only internally but against others as well.
Everyday life is filled with events that control how we react and respond to
individuals around us. Positive events such as holding the door open for someone
or helping someone finish a task trigger a response of a thank you . Negative
events such as being honked at or yelled at can sour someone s mood and may
cause grumpiness for a while. This story talks about how the peaceful Sunday
afternoon full of joy, happiness, peace and freedom can change in minutes to a
day full of negative emotions a that can ruin a day. When Larry s mom views her
son having a good time while playing in the sand, she feels content and happy
watching him play. She thinks of how happy the boy is digging and she has a warm
feeling while enjoying the moment. She even thinks they need to do this more often.
We get the feeling that this is a tranquil moment in her life. There is no indication of
how Larry feels towards the other child named Joe in the sandbox, but we can
assume that Larry is indifferent to Joe at the beginning. Joe s actions start a chain of
events that result in an unpleasant day for this family of three.
Joe then throws a scoop of sand at Larry, just barely missing him. Larry s mom, at
first, seems to be a little surprised that this child would do such a thing, and is even
more surprised when the Joe s parent does not reprimand his child for the act. She
finds herself wanting to defend her child and speaks up, telling Joe to stop. When
the other child does it again and actually hits Larry this time with the sand, we begin
to see Larry is upset about it. The mom s first thought was she wanted to let Larry
fight his own battles, but instead reprimands the boy again. This
Value Of Life Ethos
Inquiry The unit Value of Life explores the core ideas of emotions, morals and
perceptions surrounding the definition of life. These complicated notions are what
present this inquiry. The concept of different perceptions of the value of life is
what motivated the researcher to look further into the unit. This led to the
researcher to analyze the short film Zero . Zero directed by Christopher Kezelos
published in 2010 argues the topic of societal values and the effects of self worth vs
society s worth. Kezelos supports his claim through conveying pathos by showing the
morals, emotions and perceptions of animated string dolls. Kezelos point of direction
with this short film shines a light on society s views. Kezelos pathos driven film
motivated the researcher to take technological view of how films can convey
emotion. This connected with the Ted Talk, The magic ingredient that brings pixar

into the air is affecting the species because more carbon dioxide being released into
the air, which causes heat to be trapped into the atmosphere. This action has caused
some species to have problems to survive in the environment and decrease the
population, eventually causing extinction. In some cases, species have found a way
to adapt to the environment through genetic changes caused be evolution. The
mechanisms of phenotypic resilience and evolutionary adaptation allows species to
obtain the potential to adapt to warmer environments. Phenotypic resilience is where
the species possess the ability to portray different phenotypes in a changing
environment. In animals, the traits that respond to selection are migratory patterns,
key morphological traits, life history traits, body size, and host preferences (Vellend
et al., 2007). Overall, the question of whether the species adapt or become extinct due
to climatechanges varies. There is not a straightforward explanation because some
populations might decreases and some populations might dramatically increase. The
ecosystem and environment is too large and broad to have a specific answer. The risk
of extinction from climate changevaries across a variety of
Predictive Analytics And The Health Care Industry
Before proceeding to review a range of predictive analytic algorithms, it is
important to know how critical predictive analytics is to the health care industry.
The growth rate of US healthcare expenditures, increasing annually by nearly 5%
in real terms over the last decade and a major contributor to the high national debt
levels projected over the next two decades. McKinsey estimates that Big Data can
enable more than $300 billion savings per year in US healthcare, with two thirds of
that through reductions of around 8% to national healthcare expenditures. Imagine
if there were health care analytics in the middle ages. The black plague could have

from genomics to innovative drugs, advertisement data, newsfeeds and articles in
medical journals. As much as there is scope for finding out patterns among these
data, it is not easy to implement predictive analytics in healthcare industry because of
the limitations like hand written prescriptions, scanned images and medical records
which comprise of unstructured and disintegrated data. Moreover, medical data is
involved with legal and privacy issues. The adoption rate of analytics in healthcare
industry is quite slow making it more challenging. The Why of applying predictive
analytics in healthcare: If predictive analytics is applied extensively to the rapidly
growing healthcare industry, limitless advantages can be realized. Some of the
advantages are: 1) Improved real time decisions about treatment and support,
consumer commitment 2) Effortless revenue management with focus on global as
well as local markets 3) Standardized clinical processes, guidelines and protocols
greatly improving operational efficiency 4) Reduction in fraud claims, security

Essay About My New School. Essay on My School My School - YouTube

  • 1. Essay About My New School Crafting an essay about your new school might initially seem like a straightforward task, given that the subject matter is personal and close to your own experiences. However, the apparent simplicity can be deceiving, as the challenge lies in striking the right balance between conveying your thoughts and emotions while maintaining a coherent and engaging narrative. Firstly, you need to delve into your memories and reflections, extracting the most significant aspects of your transition to the new school. This requires introspection and the ability to identify key moments that have shaped your initial impressions. The challenge here is not just to list events chronologically but to weave them together seamlessly, creating a narrative that captivates the reader's interest. Moreover, you must be mindful of your audience. Tailoring your essay to resonate with readers who may not share your specific experiences necessitates a delicate approach. Balancing the personal with the universal is a constant juggling act – ensuring your story is relatable while maintaining its unique flavor. The difficulty further intensifies when you aim to articulate your emotions effectively. Describing your feelings about the new school requires a level of vulnerability and introspection that can be challenging to express accurately. Striking the right tone is crucial; you want to be honest and authentic without veering into sentimentality or excessive detail. Structuring the essay poses another set of challenges. Arranging your thoughts in a logical sequence, ensuring smooth transitions between paragraphs, and maintaining coherence are essential. The danger lies in either overwhelming the reader with a barrage of unrelated anecdotes or presenting a disjointed narrative that lacks flow. In conclusion, writing an essay about your new school involves navigating a delicate balance between personal reflection and universal appeal. It demands the ability to articulate emotions, structure thoughts coherently, and connect with a diverse audience. It's a task that requires both creativity and precision to ensure the final product is not only a reflection of your experiences but also a compelling piece of writing. What Was The Truman Doctrine Essay Right from the start of the Cold War, after the Second World War (1939 1945), the European continent was split up once more and two ideologies were considered to dominate most countries. The Truman doctrine, established in 1947 by the President of the United States of America forged the Western bloc and put forward capitalism as a strong political ideology . Following this doctrine was the initiation of the Marshall plan, a financial and military help, which goal was to reduce The Soviet Unions influence on eastern countries. The leading force of the Eastern bloc, the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (U.S.S.R.) answered to the United Statesdoctrine with the Zhdanov doctrine which divided the world between the imperialists , the United States and the socialists , the Soviet Union. Communism was the ideology in the U.S.S.R. and its allied countries. Defeated after the end of the Second World War, Germany was split in four occupation zones as it was discussed at the Potsdam Conference (July August 1945). The three zones belonging to the western countries (French zone, British zone and American zone) were unified and thus opposed to the soviet zone. • 3. Uncertainty Reduction Theory And Uncertainty Reduction Theory Being away from home for the first time and having to start over and make all new friends can be both exciting and intimidating at the same time. When I first moved into my freshmen dorm at UNCW three years ago, I was certainly feeling this rush of emotions. I was excited to meet new people, but also scared I wouldn t make any friends who I connected as well with as my high school friends. I was especially nervous about having to live with a roommate who I hardly knew. I had always heard horror stories from my older friends and family members about having a crazy roommate who they just couldn t get along with. Fortunately, my roommmate Kelly and I became great friends and were not only able to survive freshmen year of college, but continued to live together all four years of college. This transformation in our relationship from virtual strangers, to the best of friends can be explained by Charles Berger s Uncertainty Reduction Theory. Uncertainty Reduction Theory is the assumption that when strangers meet, their primary concern is one of uncertainty reduction or increasing the predictability about the behavior of both themselves and others in the interaction. We are motivated to search for this information for one of more of three reasons anticiptation of future interaction, incentive value, and deviance. With Kelly my motives were mostly based on anticipation of future interaction. Not only would I see her again, but I would have to interact with on a daily basis on a

The Pros And Cons Of The Cuban Embargo The new era began, Barack Obama and RaГєl Castro announced that the United States of America and Cuba will restore full diplomatic relations for the first time in more than 50 years since severing ties in 1961. Barston 2006, defines diplomatic relations as the art and practice of conducting negotiations between representatives of states. It usually refers to international diplomacy, the conduct of international relations through the intercession of professional diplomats with regard to issues of peace making, trade, economics and culture (p. 1). One of the major areas it will address is the lifting of the Cuban embargo. The embargo restricts trade, travel and communication between the two states which hinders the economic development of Cuba.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Scola (2014) It is estimated that only 5 percent of the Cuban population has access to the open Internet . All Internet connections in Cuba are available exclusively through Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Cuba S.A. (ETECSA). Because wireless Internet service is not available to the general population, landline Internet is the sole means of connecting people in Cuba to the Internet. The combination of inadequate infrastructure and the government s deliberate policy which controls access to the internet have produced an extremely slow service that is not widely available throughout the population. With better diplomatic relations with the United States the Cuban government can benefit greatly from telecommunications mostly internet advancements which can positively affect the economy in many ways. First, it can reduce the cost of production. Second, it can increase revenues. Third, it can increase employment through both direct and indirect effects and lastly it provides channels of communication to avert humanitarian disasters and assist in reconstruction efforts. The United States help the Cuban economy to develop the telecommunications by providing the country with many of the technological infrastructures needed to become

BSCL420 T103 Nancy, Sylvia, Flora and Tony 7.2 Group Assignment Introduction: Recently, China and Colombia trade relations are stronger than before. Colombian Java International sells their coffee to Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai in China and the rate of export products is increasing. Therefore, our team suggests Colombia exports their products from Tumaco seaport to China s Hong Kong port and Shanghai port by using Maersk Group shipping company and China COSCO company. After the products are arrived in Hong Kong and Shanghai port, we recommend to use S.F. Express logistic company to deliver the products to Guangzhou and Beijing city. Colombia: About the Tumaco seaport. This is a good seaport for our plan. Because when we transfer the cargo from Colombia to Hong Kong. It only crosses the Pacific, and then it will arrive the Hong Kong. Without this seaport, the vessel will cross the Panama Canal. • 6. Compare And Contrast Indian Architecture And Japanese... In any well developed region and national culture there are periods of rejection of the past and periods of revival. These periods are often reflected through architecture as architects, developers, engineers, lay people and even the national governments seek to reflect history with the inclusion of modernity, meaning modern buildings with elements of tradition as well as all the modern amenities sought by users. In an architectural sense much of the focus is on theory within the academy, while the actual development of a great deal of architectureis not produced by university trained architects. There are few better national examples than Japan and India as they seek through laws and standards as well as architectural artistic vision to reinvent the visions of the past with modern buildings that meet modern needs including infrastructural needs to express safety, convenience and ergonomics but do not deny regionalism. The greatest challenge for both India and Japan in the modern world of architecture is to define what is regional and what is modern and make it fit in a global architectural vision, without framing a loss of national identity as a natural outgrowth. In both India and Japan the architectural industry including not just university trained architects relying heavily on theory and international trends but on lay designers who often make up the bulk of national designers and builders, struggle with the marriage of international views and standards in

  • 9. A Research Study On Sociology Sociology is a study that requires detailed scrutiny and exploration. Comparatively, it is as meticulous as science in that it demands that those who aspire to publish a theory research, research, and research again. The same results must be calculated repeatedly and every thought must be correlated and consistent. A sociologist who was remarkably successful at doing such was George Herbert Mead. It was said of his thoroughness at his death by Professor John Dewey that, he threw himself completely into whatever he had to do in all the circumstances and relations which life brought to him (Dewey 309). Likewise, in the same setting, Professor Dewey speaks of his thoughtprocess stating that his ideas were always genuinely original; they started one thinking in directions where it had never occurred to one that it was worthwhile even to look (Dewey 311). Consequently, Mead is responsible for creating a whole branch in sociologycalled symbolic interactionism. This branch brought attention to the symbols in society and the correlations between them in ways that sociologist had yet to address. Though it is primarily rooted in American thought, the life of George Herbert Mead and his work has revolutionized how sociologist and psychologist consider symbols and their effect on society around the world. • 10. Othello Illusion Vs Reality Essay Every day we are constantly meeting new people and with meeting new people comes new personalities. Some may be our friend while others may be hypocritical. But at the end true colors are revealed. Illusion verses reality is one of the many themes expressed in Othello by William Shakespeare. There are many examples shown through the character Othellowhere the misconception of illusionand reality leads to misfortune. This is displayed when Othello develops an outrageous jealousy due to Iago manipulating him, or when there s irrelevant hatred created between Othello and Cassio because of these manipulations. When Iago s schemes work it fools Othello s gullible personality, resulting in him doubting his love for Desdemona. William Shakespeare... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to Iago s perception of Othello being naГЇve, Iago uses his phenomenal understanding of the human psyche as his ability to orchestrate pre planned scenarios. Iago is successfully and carefully able to manipulate Othello s thoughts into thinking Desdemona has been unfaithful and that it was false love. I called my love false love, but what he said then? (IV, iii, 59) This is significant because Desdemona is beginning to realize that the love Othello had for her must have been false she s worried that Othello will leave her. Due to Othello s inability to differentiate between delusion and reality it s bringing forth disaster leading to their relationship suffering. Othello being able to trust people easily allowed Iago s words to manipulate him into making a tremendously poor decision which was killing Desdemona. Put out the light, and then put out the light, (V,ii, 7) This quote is paramount because Othello blows out the candle just before he strangles Desdemona which symbolizes Desdemona s fragile life and because he is so manipulated by Iago there is no turning back and he is ready to kill her. Othello muses that the difference between Desdemona s life and a candle s light is that he can put out and relight the candle but he cannot bring Desdemona back to life. The thought of not being able to bring Desdemona back to life did not stop him from murdering Desdemona,

The Social Issue Of Ideal Body Image Body image is an issue known around the world, just like eating disorders, it is most commonly seen in woman; however, there are men that suffer from this issue as well. The social issue of ideal body image affects people of all ages regardless of gender or ethnicity. Body image is the way one sees their own body in their mind, and they may not feel confident within their own skin, or they may feel unaccepted in society. A person may feel they might not be skinny enough, big enough, tall enough, dark enough, ultimately they will feel they are not enough to fit into what is acceptable in the social order around them. People begin forming rash conclusions or observations of their own body s attractiveness, health, and appropriateness, in early childhood. Early in his life, Kepler wanted to prove that the universe obeyed Platonistic mathematical relationships, such as the planetary orbits were circular and at distances from the sun proportional to the Platonic solids (see paragraph below). However, when his friend the astronomer Tycho Brahedied, he gave Kepler his immense collection of astronomical observations. After years of studying these observations, Kepler realized that his previous thought about planetary motion were wrong, and he came up with his three laws of planetary motion. Each interior angle of an equilateral triangle is 60В°, therefore we could fit together three, four, or five of them at a vertex, and these correspond to the tetrahedron, the octahedron, and the icosahedron. Each interior angle of a square is 90В°, so we can fit only three of them together at each vertex, giving us a cube. The interior angles of the regular pentagon are 108В°, so again we can fit only three together at a vertex, giving us the dodecahedron. That makes five regular polyhedra. However, what would happen if we had a six sided figure? Well, its interior angles are 120В°, so if we fit three of them together at a vertex the angles add up to 360В°, and therefore they lie flat. For this reason we cannot use hexagons to make a Platonic solid. In addition, obviously, no polygon with more than six sides can be used either, because the interior angles just keep getting larger. The Greeks, who had to find religious truth in mathematics, found the idea of exactly five Platonic solids very compelling. The philosopher Plato concluded that they must be the fundamental building blocks of nature, and assigned to them what he believed to be the essential elements of the universe. He followed the earlier philosopher Empedocles in assigning fire to the tetrahedron, earth to the cube, air to the octahedron, and water to the icosahedron. To the dodecahedron, Plato assigned the

Stress in the Emergency Department Stress, Burnout, and Compassion Fatigue in the Emergency Department Background Nursing is a field that many enter with the intention of helping and providing care to those with mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual needs (Lombardo Eyre, 2011). Many consider nursing as their calling; yet have not prepared themselves for the emotional and physical implications that come from having interpersonal relationships with families and patients. As nurses care for the ill, traumatized, and vulnerable patients in their charge, they inadvertently expose themselves to the pain, suffering, and trauma that their patients are experiencing on a regular basis. When the continued stress of this field is not dealt with, one can become a victim of the overwhelming need that surrounds them, which can result in burnout or compassion fatigue. This not only effects ones physical and emotional health, but also results in decreased productivity and job satisfaction, as well as increasing job turnover rate (Lombardo Eyre, 2011; Boyle, 2011). This concept is predominantly true of those working in the Emergency Department, and is actually where the context of compassion fatigue was first noted approximately two decades ago, but is also seen across the spectrum of health care providers in all areas (Boyle, 2011). The Modern Life Span Perspective Essay Some scientist and theorist believe that a person s current position in life is the result of a combination of their experiences and interacting influences. This can occur from infancy through very old age, even before birth. For example, career choices can be affected by personal experiences or inborn abilities. This may be from the individual or the influence of adult role models, which can be positive or negative. According to Sigelman, Rider, De George Walker (2013), human developmentis shown to be very complex, with many interconnected processes through the modern lifespan perspective. This context is based on seven key assumptions, where I will analyse in depth in this paper and will show how the modern life span perspective is relevant to my decision to become a Social worker based on my experiences. The life span perspective in Paul Baltes view is the study of constancy and change in behaviour throughout the life course from conception to death. (Baltes, 1987, p.611). Being a development psychologist, Baltes constructed seven frameworks that shows that development is multi directional, which means different processes of change all through the lifespan. Secondly, development is multiply influenced by a person s development, an effect brought about from both biological and environmental factors. Thirdly, understanding development requires multiple disciplines, development that analyse in all directions so that it can be understood through many perspectives

  • 27. The Concept of Comparative Advantage The comparative advantage The concept of the comparative advantage was first coined in 1817 by economist David Ricardo, in his On the principles of political economy and taxation. The underlying idea of the comparative advantage theory is that the countries possess different resources and capabilities and they can produce some specific items in a more efficient manner than other countries can produce the same items, or more efficiently that the same country can produce other items. In such a setting then, the countries would best decide to produce the items for which they possess a comparative advantage, and then exchange them within the international market place, for items for the production of which they do not possess a comparative advantage (Pullen, 2006). Today, the application of the comparative advantage is revealed mostly at the level of the leading economic powers in the world, who seek to create advantages in terms of exports, and as such maximize their gains (Acharya, 2008). The concept and application of the comparative advantage theory has raised vast interest throughout the past century, and this interest is revealed at both theoretical and well as practical level. Furthermore, as the modern day society becomes more and more engaged in globalization and market liberalization, the application of the comparative advantage theory is gaining more momentum. The approach to creating a program had several stages, including a method to define several distinct weeklong schedules to combine, a method taking into account non standardized class schedules, and a method combining consistent schedules with additional constraints. These approaches were each based on the current understanding of the scope and requirements of the project. In the first stage of the project, the focus was on creating several week long schedule blocks, composed of mixed shift lengths, that could be combined together over the entire year to achieve a schedule complying with the ACGME. These schedule blocks would be grouped by their intended use, such as which day a clinic session was on, day shifts or night shifts, specific educational blocks like the GPC, and split between first and second/third year residents. This schedule would be implemented on top of previously assigned educational units and clinic sessions, and optimized for the correct number of residents during each hour of the day. This method also included an implementation of the previously defined linear program, allowing scheduling blocks to be efficiently created for each of the situations required by the method. However, just because the image and text are displayed together, does not mean they relate to each other, as the text can either support the image, or contradict the image in order to demonstrate the transparency of either or both elements (Williams and Simpson, 1994). Two artists who have been able to incorporate image and text in their pieces are, contemporary American artist, Barbara Kruger and contemporary Australian artist, Jenny Watson. Here at GOMA were have created the Image and Text: A Feminist Narrative to displays the provocative and stimulating ways Kruger and Watson have used both text and image to convey personal, dream, socio political and feminist narratives. Whilst Barbara Kruger is an American feminist whose work is centred around critiquing advertising culture and the representation of women during said advertising, Jenny Watson is an Australian feminist who uses expressive figurative images and incorporates text panels similar to autobiographical diary entries. The combination of these two artists display strong messages to their audience, doing so in an

Antonio and I really love it here, every morning we wake up to the beautiful sounds of the ocean and the sweet smelling fresh air. Antonio found us a wonderful beach house overlooking the white sandy beach of Abuja, Nigeria. I have no idea how he found this place but I m so happy he found it. The house has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It s a newly remodeled condo apartment in Mailtama Hilltop of Abuja. It has a private balcony with a swing chair, outside tables and surprisingly a small grill. So, Antonio can make our favorite jerk chicken and grill fish. On our way, we came up to a small town where the streets were full of people buying and selling food, clothing, shoes, and business services like hairstyling. We stopped to explore together to see what the market place had to offer. When we noticed a large group of children instead of playing and being like regular kids, they were busy carry large tub containers on top of theirs head selling what they had to people. I went over to ask a couple of them why they weren t in school and where were their parents. They all answered me saying that their families couldn t afford to send them to school and that they sell in the street to help and support their mothers. This broke my heart cause no child should have to take on those responsible at a tender age, the youngest child was eight and the oldest was fifteen years old. In American children those ages are required by the government to be in some schooling, whether that is home schooling or public/private school. There are child labour laws against children under the age of sixteen working and having a job. But because this is a cultural norm so no one sees it has a
  • 34. Analysis Of Unwind Unwind Message Many people will go through experiences in their lives where they feel like they are changing. It is as if life has dealt them enough experiences that their personalities have been altered because of it. Unwind by Neal Shusterman shows how the past experiences people go through may dictate who they become and the decisions they may make in the future through the lives of Roland, Admiral Dunfee, and Lev. Throughout the novel, Roland is portrayed as an aggressive young man who has the desire to fight anyone who gets in his way. Yet as the readers soon discover, he is a young man with a very troubled past. Roland s past shapes who he becomes today in that he is very distrusting of women due to the experiences he has gone through. As Connor finds out in the basement of the antique shop, Roland s mother essentially abandoned him for her husband. As the novel states, That s not what did him in, though. Roland had beaten up his stepfather for beating his mom. The mother took her husband s side, and the stepfather got off with a warning. Roland, on the other hand, was sent to be unwound (Schusterman 99). After Roland s mother abandoned him for his stepfather, he began to fight other individuals in order to gain power. Another example of Roland s distrust for women comes at the very end of the novel when he is being unwound and he is recalling memories from his past. Roland recalls, When I was three, I had a babysitter. She was beautiful. She shook my sister. Real hard. My sister got wrong. Never got right again. Beautiful is dangerous. Better get them first (Schusterman 293). After this experience, Roland is likely to never trust women, or other beautiful people, again. For him to experience both his mother s abandonment and his sister s injuries at the hand of the babysitter, Roland chooses not to trust women again, resulting in his poor treatment of Risa, and the other females he comes in contact with. Admiral Dunfee, similarly, is affected by his past. When the novel first introduces the Admiral, he is portrayed as a cold hearted dictator in charge of hundreds of Unwinds, but there is a reason the Admiral comes off as distant. When the Unwinds first arrive at The Graveyard, they are expected to
  • 35. The Harsh Reality Of Deforestation The Harsh Reality of Deforestation If you ask a random individual to describe a landscape to you, any landscape that they can imagine from anywhere in the world, the odds are that they will mention an environment with trees. This is almost inevitable as every type of biome harbors some kind of tree, except for one: the arctic. Through new forms of science, researchers were even able to calculate just how many trees were on the earth. According to this recent study the answer is somewhere around 3.04 trillion. That s about 400 trees for every person. (Netburn 1). The fact is that trees are necessary factors in maintaining the balance our planet requires to sustain life for all living things. Without trees, existence is impossible for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By cutting down forests there is not only the loss of precious resources, but also the risk of extinction for numerous, tropical species. However, the impacts of deforestation on animals are not seen immediately since many of the side effects occur over time. As stated by Ian Sample, Though few species are killed off directly in forest clearances, many face a slower death sentence as their breeding rates fall and competition for food becomes more intense (Sample 1). Deforestation can attribute to a lack of resources, which in turn creates a battle of the fittest scenario for most species. Only the smartest and strongest breeds are able to survive in these circumstances, leaving the weaker ones to starve and eventually die off. A decrease in food and shelter, along with an increase in competition, is a deadly combination for many animal genera. Another detrimental side effect of deforestation is poaching. When these forests are cleared, animals are left in the open without a source of protection or camouflage, making them much easier for poachers to reach. If the loss of their habitat does not kill them, it is likely that illegal hunting will. Deforestation plays a prime role in climate change as well. When trees are cut down or burned, carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere. This is incredibly dangerous, as global warming by definition is the result of too much carbon dioxide in

The poem is regular, symmetrical, and falls into stanzas. The first five stanzas have three lines and the last stanza contains four lines. A longer peruse of One Art will help the reader identify the villanelle form. The first lineof the poem is repeated in the 2nd, 4th and 6th stanzas, while the last word of the first stanza (3rd line) is repeated in the 3rd, 5th, and 6th stanzas. The poem appears to have the powerful music effect that is usually associated with a villanelle. The poem hints at being autobiographical after reading about Elizabeth Bishop s life in the Lives of the Poets section of the text Literature an Introduction to Fiction, Poetry, and Drama. The personal voice also hints at the poem being autobiographical. Further analysis of the poem and Bishop s life leads to the discovery of confessional poetry.Researching The Microsoft Encarta 96 Encyclopedia tells us that Elizabeth Bishop s works will usually highlight the sense of strangeness that can underlay ordinary events ( Elizabeth Bishop ). The text (Literature an Introduction to Fiction, Poetry, and Drama) makes reference to Bishop s use of metaphor. Elizabeth Bishop refers to losing as an art. The American Heritage Talking Dictionary defines art as a skill that is practiced ( art ). One Art makes specific reference to practicing losing (line 7). Loss is defined as a condition of being deprived

Labor Productivity in any construction project is units of work placed or produced per labor hour, which directly influences the total project cost, completion time period and project quality. Hence, it is very crucial for us to have in detail information of the factors which positively or negatively influences the productivity so that we can take required action to mitigate the negative effects and reinforce the positive effects. Moreover, aluminum formwork is the dynamic evolution the construction industry which has been adopted for advanced construction in various segments, hence its productivity is of utmost important for its complete acceptance in the industry. This research will focus on determining the factors which changes the output given by the laborers working with aluminum formwork. This will help in enhancing the physical progress of the project by applying the tool or remedy subjected to a particular factor. Project Objective The aim of this analysis is to identify factors influencing labor productivity in building construction with attention on formwork operations and to understand its variations attributable in direct impact on labor productivity. This research focuses on determining the relationship between various attributes which effect labor productivity by collecting real time responses from job site. It is to be done by taking
  • 38. Analysis Of Sunday In The Park In the short story of Sunday in the Park, the focus of the story is centered on a small family of three and the events that occurred while enjoying a day in the park. The husband Morton, his wife, and their small boy Larry, are spending the afternoon day in the park. Larry, playing in the sandbox with another young boy named Joe, is threatened when Joe throws sand at him. The events that follow show that a happy and joyful experience can quickly escalate into one of frustration, disappointmentand anger, not only internally but against others as well. Everyday life is filled with events that control how we react and respond to individuals around us. Positive events such as holding the door open for someone or helping someone finish a task trigger a response of a thank you . Negative events such as being honked at or yelled at can sour someone s mood and may cause grumpiness for a while. This story talks about how the peaceful Sunday afternoon full of joy, happiness, peace and freedom can change in minutes to a day full of negative emotions a that can ruin a day. When Larry s mom views her son having a good time while playing in the sand, she feels content and happy watching him play. She thinks of how happy the boy is digging and she has a warm feeling while enjoying the moment. She even thinks they need to do this more often. We get the feeling that this is a tranquil moment in her life. There is no indication of how Larry feels towards the other child named Joe in the sandbox, but we can assume that Larry is indifferent to Joe at the beginning. Joe s actions start a chain of events that result in an unpleasant day for this family of three. Joe then throws a scoop of sand at Larry, just barely missing him. Larry s mom, at first, seems to be a little surprised that this child would do such a thing, and is even more surprised when the Joe s parent does not reprimand his child for the act. She finds herself wanting to defend her child and speaks up, telling Joe to stop. When the other child does it again and actually hits Larry this time with the sand, we begin to see Larry is upset about it. The mom s first thought was she wanted to let Larry fight his own battles, but instead reprimands the boy again. This

These complicated notions are what present this inquiry. The concept of different perceptions of the value of life is what motivated the researcher to look further into the unit. This led to the researcher to analyze the short film Zero . Zero directed by Christopher Kezelos published in 2010 argues the topic of societal values and the effects of self worth vs society s worth. Kezelos supports his claim through conveying pathos by showing the morals, emotions and perceptions of animated string dolls. Kezelos point of direction with this short film shines a light on society s views. Kezelos pathos driven film motivated the researcher to take technological view of how films can convey emotion. • 41. Effects Of Climate Change On Species Effect of Climate Change on SpeciesOver the years, the populations of many species have been affected due to human activities such as hunting and releasing fossil fuels, which seems to be the major culprit in causing climate change. Releasing these gases into the air is affecting the species because more carbon dioxide being released into the air, which causes heat to be trapped into the atmosphere. This action has caused some species to have problems to survive in the environment and decrease the population, eventually causing extinction. In some cases, species have found a way to adapt to the environment through genetic changes caused be evolution. The mechanisms of phenotypic resilience and evolutionary adaptation allows species to obtain the potential to adapt to warmer environments. Phenotypic resilience is where the species possess the ability to portray different phenotypes in a changing environment. In animals, the traits that respond to selection are migratory patterns, key morphological traits, life history traits, body size, and host preferences (Vellend et al., 2007). Overall, the question of whether the species adapt or become extinct due to climatechanges varies. There is not a straightforward explanation because some populations might decreases and some populations might dramatically increase. The ecosystem and environment is too large and broad to have a specific answer. The risk of extinction from climate changevaries across a variety of
