The Longest Ride
The Longest Ride The warm wind hits my face and time seems to stop. The sound of my horses
hooves thumping against the ground is the only thing I hear. Flying wildly in the wind, her
mane shimmers in the sunlight. The sound of laughter breaks the silence. I turn to see a woman
riding a pure white horse next to me. Her long brown hair and her soft blue eyes send a shock of
remembrance, but I don t know who she is. I think hard, trying to search my memories of her. A
gold heart shines on her boots. I know who she is! She s BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! 6:00 blinks

of me and slowly sit up. I don t remember what happened in my dream, but I keep seeing her face.
It s my mom. My mom died in a car accident when I was five. People say I look just like her, the
brown hair, blue eyes, everything. The only thing I have left of her is a fat cat and boots with a
gold heart on each one. I don t remember what she was like, but my dad is always going on and
on about how I act just like her. Anna breakfast is ready! my dad shouted downstairs. I walk
groggily over to my closet and decide on a light blue t shirt, jeans, and my mom s boots. When I
walk downstairs the sweet smell of blueberry pancakes fills the air. When I sit down at the table
my dad walks with a mound of pancakes on a large plate and he sets it on the table. My dad s not

Pancho Villa Essay
Pancho villa
Doroteo Aranga learned to hate aristocratic Dons, who worked he and many other Mexicans like
slaves, Doroteo Aranga also known as Pancho villa hated aristocratic because he made them work
like animals all day long with little to eat. Even more so, he hated ignorance within the Mexican
people that allowed such injustices. At the young age of fifteen, Aranga came home to find his
mother trying to prevent the rape of his sister. Aranga shot the man and fled to the Sierra Madre for
the next fifteen years, marking him as a fugitive for the first time. It was then that he changed his
name from Doroteo Aranga to Francisco quot;Pancho quot; Villa, a man he greatly admired.

As a result, this set the stage for a confrontation between the U.S. and Pancho Villa. Hence, the
United States put an embargo on Villa, not allowing him to purchase guns, ammunition,
equipment, etc., in American border towns. His transactions were, thus, made illegal, which
automatically doubles his price. Considering his shortages, troops through harsh terrain to Aagua

zone with the U.S. to transport arms in his campaigning efforts. Too his surprise, Agua Prieta was
heavily protected, because Wilson had allowed Carranza to transport 5000 Mexican troops to
American soil, which had arrived before Villa. The trains of soldiers forced Villa s tired horseback
troops into retreat. The U.S. was delighted when Carranza declared Villa done for good.
Consequently, Carranza invited old U.S. investors (from before the Revolution) to invest again.
On March 9th 1916, Villa crossed the border with about 600 men and attacked Columbus, NM
killing 17 American citizens and destroying part of the town. Because of the growing
discrimination towards Latinos, the bodies of Mexicans were gathered and burned as a sanitary
precaution against quot;Mexican diseases. quot; A punitive expedition, costing the U.S. about
twenty five million dollars, dispatched and about 150,000 troops to be mobilized in efforts to

Analyzing Chelsea Rathburn s After Filing For Divorce
After Filing for Divorce Chelsea Rathburn s After Filing for Divorce compares the emotions that
the speaker feels after filing for a divorce to the morning after a wild party and all the mess
someone might find after waking up and realizing all the destruction that is left in the aftermath.
Rathburn s speaker recalls how she felt in the beginning of the marriage and now how she feels
after filing for the divorce. She sees the wreckage that is her life, the dread of the cleanup, and how
her happiness has strayed so far from where it began. The speaker starts to reflect on how she feels
like her life is a mess and how she is able to see the mess after filing for the divorce. Rathburn
describes this by using the words the shaken survey of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

someone else said to her? (Though they re coming back fast, the things you said) (line 8). The
words that were said and the actions that were done start to come back into focus and the speaker
is left to wallow in her remorse. She realizes the words and actions are not something that can be

How Music Affects A Faster Heart Rate
There are many different hypotheses on what type of music affects the heart rate. Whether it be
different things (like crescendos or pauses) that affect the heart rate even further. Or slow music
with pauses or crescendos could actually speed up the heart rate. There are many pieces of evidence
that fast, upbeat musicequal a faster heart rate. But could we slow that heart rate down by adding
different effects to the music?
On mindblowingfacts.org it states that different speeds of music can alter your heart rate as
well as decreaseing your muscle tension. While I was doing my research I found many other
examples of how music can affect yourself. Music can affect your stress level, happiness, or your
look on life. Music is a very important thing in people s life. It can calm people down, or make
people happy, so it also affects our attitude and mood.

Your heart is one of the strongest, most controlling organ in your body. The reason I think your
heart rate does this is because if you have ever felt a surge of energy when your favorite upbeat
song comes on the radio, or if you listen to slow music to relax, the emotions you experience are
directly linked to what music does to your heart rate. When you listen to fast paced music your
heart rate isn t going to be slow, and same thing if you were to listen to slow, relaxing song your
heart rate would be fast. Another interesting fact about heart rate is that it actually changes while
listening to music. So this also all goes back to the crescendos and pauses. If you are listening to
a fast paced song and it has a decrescendo it would all of a sudden lower your heart rate. Or while
you re listening to slow, relaxing music and it has a crescendo it could quicken your heart rate. So
it wouldn t matter what type of music you are listening to, no matter what your heart rate will be
affected, whether that be slowing down or speeding

MINI CASE 2: Will the United Kingdom Join the Euro Club?
When the euro was introduced in January 1999, the United Kingdom was conspicuously absent
from the list of European countries adopting the common currency. Although the previous Labor
government led by Prime Minister Tony Blair appeared to be receptive to the idea joining the euro
club, the current Tory government is clearly not in favor of adopting the euro and thus giving up
monetary sovereignty of the country. The public opinion is also divided on the issue.
Whether the United Kingdom will eventually join the euro club is a matter of considerable
importance for the future of European Union as well as that of the United Kingdom. The joining of
the United Kingdom with its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Besides, UK can attract many investor s from others because it has a plenty of advantages such
as abundant productive workforce, independence of the monetary and flexibility in labor
market. Price transparency is also a potential benefits for UK. There is a severe competition
between local firms about their price of goods. And it s absolutely a positive advantage for
costumers in choosing goods with a reasonable price. Some companies can minimize their
production costs with a cheaper price of their materials. Furthermore, UK can improve the
inflation performance. In UK, CPI is allowed to increase up to 3% but in Euro, its targeted
inflation is close, but not more than 2%. The last but not least, it is rising importance of Euro.
Nowadays, Euro currency plays an important role in international trade. And it can be able to
replace dollar one day in period of globalization. Because there are more and more other potential
members participate in Euro club. Thus, this ensures that the Euro s economy is much larger than
US one. The instability of dollar and rising national debt in US also affect to dollar currency.
About costs of adopting euro, initially UK has to face to the sensitivity of changes in interest rates.
Because house ownership in UK is the highest in Euro club, any changes in interest rates can
rapidly impact their economy. Secondly, adopting euro is constraint the

The Music Industry Is An Oligopoly
The music industry is an oligopoly. Since the late 1800 s people like Thomas Edison have been
buying up patents in communication technology, forming monopolies, leading to a non competitive
entertainment industry. With only a handful of corporations controlling all aspects of acquisition,
distribution and marketing of music, harsh business principles create an exploitative industry that
takes the best of what artists have to offer and leaves many of them unable to support themselves.
Beginning in the 1950 s with payola and white cover music and ultimately evolving into iTunes and
Spotify, the music industryhas grown into a billion dollar industry with far reaching influence and
control. Contracts rarely serve the artists best interest and many are left out to dry when their
usefulness has expired.
In the 1950 s, radio was struggling to keep ratings against the emerging new television craze.
Music executives began to pay disk jockeys to play their music. It is called payola and it is still
in practice today, although it is technically illegal. The record companies write off the legal fines
imposed by the Federal Communications Act as an expense of promotion (Campbell p.88). Black
artists in the 50 s were writing some of the most inventive and marketable music of the time, but
their music was still not palatable to a white audience as long as it was played by black musicians.
Record companies began buying the songs of poor black musicians and giving them to their

Research Paper On Apple Cider Vinegar
Today, many are switching to natural home remedies in a bid to save some money from buying
those expensive skin solutions which claim to cure acne but never lived up to its promises. There
is an increasing trend of awareness among the community to go for natural treatments and it s
definitely bad news for the commercial skinmarkets.
There are quite a number of natural home remedies available. Among one of them is apple cider
vinegar. You probably would have read quite a number of articles about using apple cider vinegar
as a cure for adult acne. Does this really work? How true is it? Hope this article can dispel some

It helps to exfoliate the dead skin cells gently, kills the bacteria propionibacterium acnes which is
generally known as P acnes and neutralizes the sebum which is the oily substance P acnes feeds

How is Apple Cider Vinegar made?
Apple cider vinegar is obtained by the fermentation of apple cider or apple must which is made
from crushed organic apples. Just for your information, fermentation means an act of conversion.
Organic apples have some kind of bacteria and yeast on their skins. So when they are crushed, you
get pure apple juice with a mixture of bacteria and yeast.
After which you leave it to mature for a while. During this process, sugar in the apple cider is
broken down by yeast and bacteria which turns into alcohol. It s more like a brewing process which
eventually turns into vinegar after a second fermentation.
If you don t have all the time or resources to make one at home, you can easily purchase ACV
from any departmental stores. First of all, make sure you get the organic ACV with the labels
saying With the Mother with an ideal acidity (pH) level of five to seven. This means that it is in

Objective Theory of Contracts
The four elements of a valid contract are offer and acceptance, meeting of the minds, consideration
and competent parties. The contract must cover a legal purpose or objective as well (Binder, 2012).
The objective theory of contracts holds that contract formation is dependent on what is
communicated, rather than what is thought by one of the parties (Barnes, 2008).
The Pepsi Harrier case (Leonard v. PepsiCo) is an example of a situation where the four elements of
a contract are simply not met. Advertisements in general constitute an invitation to treat, rather than
an offer. Therefore, Leonard was not able to accept the offer, because the offer never existed. As
such, the basic elements of a contract were not present in their entirety, meaning that no contract
existed between Pepsi and the Seattle man.
The objective theory of contracts is relevant to this case, because there was a clear difference
between what Pepsi was thinking and what Leonard was thinking. Each had their own view of what
the advertisement constituted, and it is from these differing views that the contract dispute arose.
The judge in this situation must use the objective theory to decide the case. This means that the
case can only rest on what has actually been communicated between the two parties. In this case,
Pepsi has an advertisement that discusses its promotion. The promotion describes a bargain in
which a customer presents Pepsi with points and Pepsi allows the customer to redeem those points

Cinderella By Anne Sexton Analysis
Once Mignon McLaughlin said, A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always
with the same person (Positive). We can somehow relate to McLaughlin s quote as certainly falling
in love is accidental, but staying in love is a choice that we make. A successful marriage may be the
product of an almost fairytale like romantic story, however, after tying the knot there is harder work
and commitment needed from both sides. Throughout human civilization expressing lovehas
generated countless literature and intellectual work in every language and culture known. While
many of these works will come to rejoice love, others will address it with resentment and bitterness.
In her poem Cinderella, Anne Sexton offers us a different version of the traditional Cinderella
story. Sexton uses sarcasm and paradox through her poem arguing the sham of happily ever
after as portrayed in certain fairytales stories and how it always has been represented through
media. On the other hand, Anne Bradstreet celebrates the love of her life, her newly wedded
husband in her poem, To My Dear Husband . Till this day, Bradstreet s poem is read in many
weddings, due to its sincerity, beautiful expressions, and simple yet elegant language that
Bradstreet applied. Sexton s opinion about love sheds a different light on Bradstreet s believes, by
putting a materialistic value on love, how society affects the way we look at marriageand love, and
finally the reality of happily ever after. In her

I Love Ricky Relationships
The relationships in I Love Lucy center on Lucy, Ricky, and her friendships with her landlords
and neighbors, Fred and Ethel. Lucy, often the one who instigates and devises the plans, drags
her willing friend Ethel through a maze of misguided schemes in hopes of becoming famous.
Feeling challenged by Ricky, who opposes her not so brilliant ideas, Lucy retaliates with trickery
and indiscretions that never work out as she planned. Adding to the comedy, when Ricky finds
out what Lucy has done, he is so mad that he begins to yell in Spanish and it is obvious that Lucy
does not understand what he is saying. By the end of the episode, Ricky has forgiven Lucy and all
is well again. In Friends, Rachel s relationships were more complex in that they

Public Education Is An Integral Part Of Human Rights...
Public education is an integral part of human rights system and entire community life; it supports
the evolution of individuals, nations and ensures the development of humankind. However,
nowadays learning is more custom made for the student s needs almost in every country, which is
really helpful for their normal life. The chance to be educated is one of the most important
subjective rights of individuals. Specifically this issue is manifested in activities involving
children with certain physical defects in our social environment. The term invalid is initially
defective; we attribute it to these people an inferiority complex in which they begin to believe.
Attitude of ordinary people to people with disabilities is different biases and prejudices. For today
there are 4755902 children, 150000 out of them belong to children with disability(Today.kz).
According to UNICEF the statistical data states that there are 62081 (1.2%) disabled children in
Kazakhstan, and each year this number increases. More and more children, who have deviations
from the conventional age norm, come in secondary school every year. They need for specialized
care, personal assistance and special mode. Toward our society is an acute problem involving our
citizens to have some features of physical development in the community, the problem of their
active adaptation, socialization and development of the public. Children with disabilities should not
be isolated from the society they belong to.

A Prostitute A Servant And A Latino
Assumptions: How They Effect One s Lifestyle Throughout my lifetime I will cross paths with
many different people. These people could be friends, colleagues, teachers, professors, or
significant others, all of any race or cultural background. When meeting someone for the first time,
it is very easy to make assumptions about that person without knowing anything about them at all.
We re all human, we all do this. In her essay, A Prostitute, a Servant, and a Customer service
Representative: A Latina in Academia, Associate Professor
in the Department of Critical Culture,
Gender, and Race Studies, Carmen Lugo Lugo claims that what students assume about their
professors advocates their attitude toward their education. Racial stereotypes challenge us to
consider our own expectations of what we should get out of a college education, and who or what
constitutes a college professor. She vigorously uses emotional appeals and establishes her tone of
voice using style and word choice in a concerned, direct manner to argue that students make
personal or racially biased assumptions about their teachers/professors, resulting in a lousy attitude
towards education. Throughout the essay, Lugo Lugo uses personal experiences and builds bridges
with her audience to further establish emotional appeals. Carmen Lugo Lugo is a woman of color,
specifically a Latina. Latinos have become so stereotyped, that people s portrayals and descriptions
of them have become so ingrained in their minds that

segment has to take off. Although it only has a small contribution of 3.469 million now there is
potential for this to become much larger. Starting with Derma Sciences finding new uses for
their honey and Comvita, selling their products to professional and hospital markets for their
special wound dressings. This will greatly increase the amount of sales for Comvita, which will
in return generate a greater net profit for the business. This means that other financial elements in
the business will also increase which is return will be a positive for potential shareholders. Along
with this there is also the new olive tree expansion in Australia the largest of its kind in the world,
this new facility increases productivity by 50% increasing the number of olive leaf based health
products out there. Therefore this new facility shows that more products are going to be able to be
produced more efficiently which in return will mean more sales for Comvita. Overall these reasons
give me more than enough evidence to predict an increase in the medical segment of Comvita in the
future years. Another reason is the strong dividend yield that Comvita has. Comvita s yield
compares well to that of Port of Tauranga who has been on the share market for a long time and is
very profitable. This shows that Comvita is a worthwhile investment as dividend yield

Sally Hemings Jefferson Case Study
Betty Hemings, concubine of John Wayles, and her children, including Sally Hemings, were
legally slaves, although the children were majority white in ancestry (Gordon Reed, 2008).
After Wayles died in 1773, his daughter Martha and her husband Thomas Jefferson inherited the
Hemings family among a total of 135 slaves from his estate, as well as 11,000 acres of land
(Gordon Reed, 2008). In 1787, 14 year old Sally accompanied Jefferson s youngest daughter Polly
to London and then to Paris, where the widowed Jefferson had called for her. Sally spent two years
there with Jefferson (Gordon Reed, 2008). Instead of choosing the intimidating option to stay in
France alone, Sally Hemingschose to go back with Jefferson into slavery. This decision was a
smart decision on her part based off her trust in Jefferson, her possible pregnancy and feelings
for Jefferson, and her background. In my discussion of Sally and her decision to go back to
America with Jefferson, I will first discuss why and how Sally trusted Jefferson. Then I will
consider the possibility of Sally having romantic feelings for Jefferson, especially referencing her
pregnancy at the time. I will close my argument with a reminder and... Show more content on

At the time that Jefferson was called back to America, Sally was pregnant by Jefferson. Sally, in
her eighteen months in France, had become Jefferson s concubine (Hemings, 1873). Had either
Sally s impregnation or Jefferson s call back to America been at a better time, Sally maybe
would have decided to stay in France with the child or even not became pregnant. While
pregnant, Sally would not have been able to work and live on her own in France. Also, raising a
child would have been extremely hard to do on her own without any financial aid or child care.
Her family was all back in America. Sally knew no one in France who she could count on to help.
This lack of support undoubtedly influenced her decision to come back with

Diagnosis And Classification Of Myeloproliferative And...
Myeloproliferative and myelodysplastic syndromes, two diverse groups of bone marrow disorders,
are respectively characterized by an overproliferation or ineffective production of various blood
cells. The clinical laboratory plays a prominent role in the diagnosis and classification of
myeloproliferative and myelodysplastic disorders, each of which presents a unique set of
morphologic, pathophysiologic, and genetic traits. The contemporary diagnosis and categorization
of these syndromes emphasizes a combination of hematologic bone marrowcharacterization and
gene mutation studies.
HEMATOLOGIC CHARACTERISTICS OF MYELOPROLIFERATIVE NEOPLASMS
Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) are characterized by the proliferation of one or more cell
types of the myeloid lineage, including erythroid, granulocytic, monocytic, or megakaryocytic
lineages. These disorders are clonal and originate from a single pluripotent hemapoietic stem cell
(Hubbard, 2011). MPNs have a slow onset and are mainly diagnosed in adults between 45 and 55
years of age. Clinical symptoms include anemia, weight loss, lack of energy, spleen enlargement,
fever, and bruising (Hubbard, 2011).
The major diagnostic criterion for chronic myelogenous leukemia (CML) is the presence of the
Philadelphia chromosome (Ph+), a reciprocal translocation between chromosomes 9 and 22, and
the presence of the BCR/ABL1 fusion gene. Peripheral blood shows leukocytosis ( 100Г—109
WBC/L), a predominance of myelocytes and segmented neutrophils

Meaning Of Good And Evil
For the word, evil, there are many different ways in which you could define it. Evil seems to
come across to people as killing and torture, and that is right but there is much more to evil than
just those two. Ordinary people do not see a random person walking on the street to be evil, but
they could be evilor really just a person walking down the street. Thinking of humans in a more
psychological way we tend to only see the bad in someone, and not the good they might have.
Throughout history, we do not really see a change in how people view the word evil. To some
they may cringe and others it might light up their eyes. Although we all can perceive evil
differently one thing is for sure, and that is the word good. Everyone sees good as a positive
outlook on whatever is around it. People tend to look at good as if we all should have within us
somewhere. These two words have completely different meanings and different outlook. Good and
Evilalso means that we are able to give a better understanding of each because of their differences.
Evil tends to have a more lasting impression on you, and not necessarily a good one but one
remember what happens more if it is negative.
According to Gray and Wegner (2009), they intended to look at the more typecasting, which is the

Themes In For Whom The Bells Tolls
We all are put to the test by having to make sacrifices like a life or death situation. Although the
majority of those choices may be for the greater good, some can hurt others. We are put to the
task, and we have several obstacles in our way, and it is our duty to accomplish that task. In
Ernest Hemingway s For Whom the Bells Tolls, the character of Robert Jordan risks his life to
fight fascism to do his duty, take care of Maria and to wash away his father suicide.
To begin with, Robert Jordan takes care of the woman he loves, Maria. Ever since Robert Jordan
went with the reclusive group in the mountain, the two of them had empathy of love towards each
other. Robert Jordan tries to reject the adulation they have for each other because he thinks that
after the bridge is blown, they will not see each other anymore. Maria refuses to think that and
shows all her love towards him. Soon Robert Jordan seems to care more about Maria and uses
their passion for each other as a distraction from the war. Hewson states that Jordan comes to
realize that he and Maria are making an alliance against death through their love for each other (6).
Their love for each other designates them forget about everything, and all they want to do is be
together. The alliance against death that they have is significant in the story. Being together
assembles them to feel powerful and gives them both hope and strength during their hard times
there. This helps out both of these characters in their own

There are many employment laws out there but ill discuss about three of them and what are the
consequences if the company did not comply. The employment laws I will discuss are the Title VII
of the Civil Rights Act 1964, Americans with Disabilities Act 1990, and the Uniformed Services

structure their policies, practices and culture to ensure compliance.
The first law I will discuss is the Title VII of the Civil Rights Act 1964. This law is the most
important anti discrimination law. It was initially intended to end the discrimination in the

This law is really good to me especially when I was in the US Navy reserved. The Uniformed
Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act is to protect the civilian employment of
active and reserve military personnel in the United States when called to active duty. These law
applies to all services in the military including reserved components. The USERRA clarifies that
when a service member of the armed forces was called to active duty, he or she will retain their
current job in the civilian sector and furthermore the position will be on hold until the service
member is back from their active duty (USERRA, 2016). I can personally say that this law is
good for service members who got activated especially for reservist personnel who were activated.
When I was activated for two months active duty while in the reservist, my employer assured me
that I will still get that position when I return from service. I felt reassured that I will keep my old
job when I return from my detachment.
The consequences for not complying with the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment
Rights Act will be dealt with the Department of Labor (USERRA, 2016). If found guilty, the
company would compensate the victim with court fees and compensate for any loss wages and
benefits. Once again, the company would also loss income and revenue and the trust of their
employee for unfair treatment.

Florida v. BuyGasCo Brief Essay
I. Purposes of the Brief
This brief amicus curiae does not address the merits of the predatory pricing allegation against
BuyGasCo Corporation ( BuyGasCo ). It speaks only to the nature of the cost accounting system
that we, as students of accounting, think to be appropriate for addressing the issues presented by
cases of this general type.
We offer our views on this subject out of concern about the allocation of indirect costs used in
assessing the appropriate gasoline cost value in State of Florida v. BuyGasCo Corporation, 2003

The invoice price by its nature can be directly attributable to each grade of gasoline at a per
gallon rate. As such, this cost will be referred to as the direct cost for the remainder of this brief.
On the other hand, labor and rent (also referred to as indirect costs ) cannot be directly attributable
to each grade at a per gallon rate. It is the methodology of creating attribution rates for these indirect
costs that is the point of contention between the parties. From the hearing, the plaintiff alleged that
the indirect costs vary in direct proportion to the number of gallons of gasoline sold per month.
Consequently, they allocated the costs based on the average amount of gasoline sold per month.
The results of this approach were shown in Plaintiff s Exhibit A (Exhibit 1).

Graves Disease
Graves disease is a precursor to hyperthyroidism. Named after the man who first discovered the
condition, Robert Graves, this disease shares many immunologic features with autoimmune
hypothyroidism (17). The most common symptoms that come with this disease are weight loss,
fatigue, nervousness, and irregular heartbeats. This particular condition can be affected by a
person s age. Statistics show that the severity of different symptoms can increase as a person
diagnosed with Graves disease grows older. This condition also makes people more susceptible to
other autoimmune diseases and women who are diagnosed with Graves disease should refrain from

Two of the types of goiter are simple goiter and toxic nodular goiter. Simple goiter can develop

Other causes may also be lack of iodine intake. Many times, when there are large numbers of

still, there is an insufficient in donors. Therefore, many have preferred to sell their organs instead
of donating them. However, Iran is the only country who allows organ sales while it is illegal for

The main crime which involves organ selling is organ trafficking and abduction where children
kidnapping cases is popular these days. For example, in China, a missing six years old was
found, however, after the inspection both of his eyes were removed (Ancher, D 2013).
Moreover, the main objective for kidnappers is to gain more money. As for organ trafficking,
victims are mostly being cheated by not getting paid or not getting the correct amount.
According from the same source, an average buyer would spend around $150,000 $200,000 for
an organ while the donor only gets $5,000. Medical Daily (2013) explained that by doing organ

What Is The Reflection Of College Writing
Coming to college from a small all girls Catholic high school, I had two years of Advanced
Placement English classes under my belt and was more than confident in my ability to produce an
organized and well written paper in a timely manner. It was not until I was given the prompt for our
first paper in this course that I realized that the college writingprocess would not be as fearless as I
had originally anticipated. Even if I was writing like a college student in high school, I was
incapable of freely thinking like one. During those four years, I constantly had religion based
conservative beliefs and strong yet reserved feminist ideas engraved in my very being. Plain to
say, when it came time to pick the topic of my first college essay, I found that I was only
comfortable writing what I was told. I had lost the ability to think for myself and found myself
afraid to express my ideas freely. However, throughout the duration of this semester, I have found a
voice that is purely my own and have been able to express my thoughts without hesitation. In our
first paperof the semester, we were asked to develop an original and interesting claim in response
to the ideas of authors in response to another s work. The secondary essay that stuck out to me the
most was Douglas L. Peterson s Wisdom Consumed in Confident : An Examination of Shakespeare

The Sun Also Rises By Gertrude Stein Act
Emily Friis Hansen Bowden 3 AP/GT English IV 12 18 14 Floating I Saw Only the Sky
Introduction You are all a lost generation is the opening prelude of the novel, The Sun Also
Rises. Those six words by Gertrude Stein act as a foreword for the novel, a story about a
wandering group of expatriates, drowning their sorrows in liquor and bullfights and glittering
Paris lights, but also as the defining label for an entire generation of doomed youth coming to
age in a society deeply affected by World War I s atrocities, characterized by hedonism, excess,
and disillusionment with life itself. The men and women who were flung headfirst into the horrific
violence of war, whether it be through serving king and country on the frontlines, nursing soldiers
who had lost blood, limbs, or their minds, or even witnessing the horrors of war secondhand
through brothers, fathers, and husbands back home, became psychologically and morally lost as
they wandered aimlessly in a world that appeared meaningless. The years following World War I
was defined by a society in which people thought that the world they lived in could no longer
support their traditional ideas on love, life, happiness and contentment. However, it was during this
age that some of the most celebrated pieces of modernist art, literature, and music emerged, with the
epicenter of this movement based in a community of American expatriates in Paris who produced
works of astonishing range, incredible depth, and striking emotion.

Persuasive Essay On Trophies For Children
There was once a girl named Sally who attended a basketball camp when she was nine. All of the
kids there worked really hard, but not Sally. Sally refused to give an effort at all. At the end of the
camp, Sally received a trophy for showing up the same trophy that all the other children got. Sally
cherished this trophyall her life and passed it down to her children since it taught her that you do
not have to work hard for anything in your life and you will still be rewarded! As you can see,
there are some issues with this scenario. In fact there is a lot of controversy on whether all
children should receive trophies, or only a select few. I believe that giving children too many
unearned trophies not only has no value, but has a negative effect on their character.

The definition of great is above average, but Alexander seems average to me.Therefore, I don t

by examining fossils, the preserved traces of long dead animals and plants. Using data from

The Rule of Law
The idea of the rule of law can be traced back to at least the time of Aristotle who observed that
given the choice between a king who ruled by discretion and a king who ruled by law, the later
was clearly superior to the former. In more recent times, it is Albert V. Dicey who is credited with
providing the logical foundation upon which the modern notion of the rule of law is based. The
term rule of law, since reformulated by A.V. Dicey in the 19th century, has traditionally meant to
include such notions as supremacy of standing law over arbitrary power, equality before the law
(which applies also to government officials), and a binding constitutional framework. The rule of
law generally refers to two elements; firstly, the recognition... Show more content on

Finally Nepal has failed historically in complying with the Rule of Law in government practices and
made itself world renowned for its ongoing tradition of impunity all time in all three branches of

Khn s Reflections On My Critics
3.1 Kuhn s Reflections on his Critics In his paper Reflections on my Critics Kuhn defended his
view of science against the criticisms raised at London Colloquium. He observed that the
criticisms were mainly focused on four points: methodology, normal science, paradigm change,
and the nature of paradigms. Kuhn believed that most of his critics misunderstood his description
of scientific development, and hence he sought to clarify his position further. Kuhn noted that his
critics claimed that his method is historical, descriptive, and relies on social psychology, whereas
their own method is logical and normative. He defended his position by affirming that both of his
view and his critics rely on historical case studies and observations on scientific behaviour. The
only difference is that he, contrary to his critics, began as an historian of science to construct a
theory of scientific knowledge. I am no less concerned with rational reconstruction, with the
discovery of essentials, than are philosophers of science. My objective, too, is an understanding of

The Aztec civilization was a very complex society that was feared and known well for their
various gory sacrifices done to please their many gods in their polytheistic religion. The much
feared civilization began by the exile of one of the two Toltec leaders, which lead to the decline of
the Toltec state that was later replaced by Mexica, or the Aztecs. According to the Aztecs, the land
chosen to build their main city was chosen by the portrayal of an eagle perched on a cactus with a

The selfless act the gods committed led to one of the major reasons for human sacrifices which
was that since the gods gave up their own life for the creation of the new world, that the Aztecs
had to somehow respect and honor their action. They did this by creating an eighteen month
calendar, which dedicated each month to a certain god. The Aztecs used scared and solar
calendars to tell time and when all the possible combinations had been used, usually every fifty
two years, the Aztecs would go through a twelve day period before the cycle started again (Benson

There were many different methods the Aztecs used to sacrifice their victims but most sacrifices
centered on the method of heart extraction. The victims were, thrust onto the stone, where a temple
priest cut through their chest wall with a ritual flint knife, and the heart was, [offered] to the sun for

alive in the sacrificial fire but before they reached death they were taken out and their heart would
be taken out (Callery 33). Victims were not the only ones that were sacrificed; priests also
conducted a method of sacrifice called bloodletting. The priest would begin by punctuating his

There are many concepts that can be used to help conceptualize the problems that Antwone Fisher
experiences.
To begin conceptualizing Antwone s feelings through an Adlerian lens, a counselor might try to
spot inferiority feelings within the client. These feelings are always present and ultimately act as a
motivating force behind an individual s outward behavior. One could argue that Antwone s
inferiorities stem from the abuse he suffered at such a young age, which halted the average
development most humans encounter. In order for an individual to overcome these inferiorities,
they begin to act in compensative behaviors. Since Antwone s traumas began in infancy, he never
had any kind of stable environment and the one in which he was finally placed (the Tate s) caused
him to quickly feel inferior. Antwone may have ultimately developed an inferiority complex
because he was never able to compensate his inferiority feelings as an infant. The inferiority
complex that Antwone developed has prevented him from being able to cope with the demands of
life enabling him to use violence as a way to forget.
Antwone s problems can be further conceptualized when thinking about social interest and
community feeling. Social interest is being concerned about others just as much as an individual is
concerned about oneself. Community feeling is concerned with feeling connected to all of
humanity. Antwone, throughout the movie, is seen drawing, writing, and

30 Clean And Jerk Research Paper
Grace. 30 clean and jerks for time. You might be sitting there pondering what a clean and jerk is
and, whatever it is how it connects to courage. A clean and jerk is a type of movement often
performed in crossfit gyms or weightlifting. Grace is a benchmark workout which consists of 30
clean and jerks. This is similar to the benchmark on a collegestandard level by the ACT scores of
students to see the level that they are on however, it would be the time that it took you to do the

1. What examples of learning by happy accident have you experienced in your own life? In my
own life, I have been lucky enough to encounter a range of happy accidents that have helped me
learn and better explore the world. For instance, as a child, I was able to understand the concept
of depth by trying to cram all of my possessions into a desk drawer. I was able to understand the
concept of radius and diameter when I was slicing up an apple pie for my mother. The concept
of evaporation was demonstrated to me firsthand as a child in that I was too lazy to clean up a
glass of water that I spilled in my room. Hours later, I found that science had cleaned it up for
me. Excited, I read all about evaporation and was able to understand the principles behind the
subject. 2. What do you think it means for a person (especially a scientist) to have a prepared
mind, as Pasteur describes? As Pasteur describes, a prepared mind is a mind which is well
educated, and which has taken the time to study and understand certain fundamental concepts and
principles in a variety of fields. A prepared mind describes a mind that has all the foundations in
place so that learning, and more importantly, real discovery, can occur. This mind has all the solid
foundations in place so that exploration and chance can bless it with good fortune. 3. How can a
person prepare his or her mind to be open to chance within any particular discipline? What roles

How do you get viral fever?
Viral fever is usually transmitted via the air by droplets from diseased folks, or by touching plague
ridden secretions.
Treatment options
Antimalarial drugs are accessible for the treatment of malaria and even seasonal viral fever; quite
the reverse, there is no drug available for the treatment of dengue. It is treated with helpful measures
such as blood transfusion and fluid restoration. However, the prescription used in malaria
fundamentally depends on where the septicity was acquired and on the type of infecting parasite.

How I Did Not Put Someone At Jail
How I did not put someone in jail A time in my life when I had to faced a mortal challenge and I

I truly loved go to jail. There were three major areas in my life, that I was transitioning to first
was changing from a denominational church beliefs to the church of Christ beliefs. The second
transition was I was leaving a life of being single to a life of being married. The third was having
a empty nest syndrome. With these three major components came about making a decision to
allow someone I love not to spend time in jail. Transitioning from my denominational church of
the Baptis faith, to the Church of Christ was interesting. I chose to take my beliefs of Baptist
faith, which entails me as a Christian to look at every day life encounters not so serious
comparedto the Church of Christ more strictly, for we will be jidge heavily for our sins. A good
example would be. Many Baptis Christians would state once saveed always saved appose to the
Church of Christ states when you sin you must truly repent by emerging again in water. This
person I truly loved, had committed himself as well as myself to the teaching of the Church of
Christ. He failed tremendously to follow the churchways of worshippong by committing adultery

The Movie Orange Is The New Black `` And What I Call A...
In its origin, the term antihero referred to the male star of a drama who remained likable despite
moral ambiguity (Rabinowitz). For an extended period of time, female antiheros simply did not
exist. There was no word for female characters who one was forced to like, regardless of their
wolfly characteristics. We simply love them because they are the star of the show. Piper Chapman
is exactly this: a character who one only likes because they are the central character in the story,
when in reality, they have very questionable morals and are most likely wolves. Alex Rabinowitz,
leading figure in entertainment news on social media, defines Piper as the most groundbreaking
character on television because of her journey to be what he calls an antiheroand what I call a wolf.
The two terms seem virtually interchangeable, with the only difference being the audience s
feelings towards the character. Chapman is the main character of one of Netflix s greatest hit
series, Orange Is The New Black . This series, created and produced by Jenji Kohan, follows the
lives of an entire prison full of women who are serving their time in Litchfield Penitentiary, a
minimum security women s prison located in upstate New York. All of these women have their
own stories and problems that the viewer follows throughout the four current seasons. While
watching the episodes, the viewer truly grows to love many of the characters, each in their own
unique way. The one character that most people are

Image processing:
Image processing is a methodology to perform some operations on an image, so as to urge an

Analysing and manipulating the acquired image to have enhanced quality and locate the data of
interest;
Output in which result can be altered image or report that is based on image analysis.
Originally image processing is proposed for space exploration and biomedical field. But later on
with the increase in use of digital images in everybody s lives it considered as powerful tool for
arbitrarily manipulating images to gain useful information. It defined as the means of conversion
between human visual system and digital imaging devices. The main purpose of image processing

Writing An Article On Wikipedia Essay
Despite the popular belief, writing an article on Wikipedia is subject to several rules. For
example, before creating a page for a new article and a new topic, you have to make sure that the
subject you tackled is either popular enough or old enough to be published. Yet there are some
exceptions to this rule. It is the case for sudden events such as November 2015 Paris attacks that
took place few days ago but already have a Wikipedia page.i Notability is not the only criterion
to take into account before knowing if your article can be published or not. You also have to
follow some basic rules such as avoiding plagiarism or always cite your sources at the end of the
article. Moreover as an author you have to remain as neutral as possible. One of Wikipedia s
goal is to provide information without any biased point of view or personal statement. Maybe
the two most important and famous pillars of Wikipedia are the fact that it is free to use and
licence free. Anyone can publish, edit or use a Wikipedia article as long as one follows the rules
mentioned earlier.ii Without a doubt, Wikipedia is a website that you can use from time to time
to find some pieces of information about various subjects. Since it is an open website it covers a
very wide spectrum of topics. One of the drawbacks of it being open is that its content is not
100% reliable. That is the reason why to write an essay it is better to avoid the use of this website.
However some parts of articles cannot be edited

A dysfunctional family is a family, in which conflict, misbehavior and even abuse on the part of
individual members of the family occur continually, leading other members to accommodate such

Criticism can be aimed at the child s looks, intelligence, capabilities, or basic value. Some verbal
abusers are very direct, while others use subtle put downs disguised as humor. Both types are just as
damaging.
Definitions of physical abuse vary widely. Many parents, at one time or another, have felt the urge
to strike their child. With physically abusive parents, however, the urge is frequent and little effort
is made to control this impulse. The Federal Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act defines
physical abuse as the infliction of physical injuries such as bruises, burns, welts, cuts, bone or skull
fractures; these are caused by kicking, punching, biting, beating, knifing, strapping, paddling, etc.
Striking a child has much to do with meeting the parent s emotional needs and nothing to do with
concern for the child; parents often erroneously justify the abuse as discipline intended to help the
child. Physically abusive parents can create an environment of terror for the child, particularly since
violence is often random and unpredictable. Abused children often feel anger. Children of abusive
parents have tremendous difficulties developing feelings of trust and safety even in their adult lives.
While parents may justify or rationalize verbal or physical abuse as discipline aimed at somehow
helping the child, there is no rationalization for sexual abuse. Sexual abuse is the most blatant
example of an adult abusing a child purely for that

The Border Patrol State Essay
The Border Patrol State
In The Border Patrol State Leslie Silko makes accusations of the border patrol s mistreatment of
American citizens of Mexican decent, making the argument with almost evidence. Silko, a critically
acclaimed poet, sees the border patrol as a governmental assembly addicted to interrogation, torture,
and the murder of those they see fit.
Leslie Silko certainly makes accusations that some could argue far exceed the boundaries of
journalism integrity, and fail to deliver with evidence to back them up.

They are pushed around and even have the dog unleashed on them. She goes onto compare the
treatment of Mexican Americans by the United States Border Patrol to, Argentina s dirty war in
the late 1970 s (124). From here it is onto how well the border patrol discriminates, and how they
will do their best to find any reason to bring the brown man down. Silko explains the way in
which people are detained. She actually reaches out to the reader and tells him or her personally
how they could identify themselves being detained. She makes claims throughout this
explanation of how the detainee is treated unjustly, like when she states, They make it clear that
if you force them to obtain a search warrant for the car, they will make you submit to a strip
search as well (125). Silko starts to bring some half way evidence into the picture by talking
about the more high profile cases of the abuse of the border patrol s power. She gives us more
facts as we reach the middle of the reading. Eighty percent of the respondents from a survey done
by the University of Arizona in South Tucson identified that one in every five had been detained,
mistreated, or questioned by INS agents in the past two years. Manifest Destiny... lock the door is

What Is a Professional Learning Community
What is a Professional Learning Community?

Gardner Webb University
Abstract
Throughout this paper you will be able to gain more knowledge on what a Professional Learning
Community (PLC) is. I will explore two different areas: general characteristics of PLCs and the
big ideas that are associated with them. I will refer to different types of students throughout this
paper. When I mention high achievers I will be referring to those are students whose test scores put
them in the top twenty five percent nationwide amongst their peers; when I mention low achievers I
am speaking of those students that perform lower than the median of their peers. PLC refers to

2. Create high performing teams. PLCs are built on a collaborative culture, where school leaders
and teachers work together to achieve their collective purpose of learning for all.
Within this big idea we, as teachers, develop norms, SMART goals and procedures for which the
PLC is to be run. By having a specific process that is followed during meeting times it keeps the
focus of the group on the learning of the child. When we explore the structure and process of an
effective PLC we one or more of the five characteristics: System Thinking, Personal Mastery, Team
Learning, Challenging Mental Needs, and Shared Vision. (Pearson Custom: Education, Executive
Leadership in the 21st Century MELS 601 p.25) Of these characteristics the most important one for
creating high performing teams is Team Learning. As I stated earlier, if we learn as a team then we
will be more apt to see growth and development in our students because we will then be on the same
thinking path of student achievement. 3. Assess effectiveness of all students learning at high levels
based on results. PLCs judge their effectiveness on outcomes related to the holistic development of
their students.
Within PLCs the professional teaching team should be using relevant data as a means to improve
what is happening inside the classroom. If the team is indeed using the data that is

Urban Community Gardens
Urban areas are known for their large underprivileged minority populations. The word urban has
become synonymous with the phrase inner city . These reality of terms have been further
strengthened by white flight which is defined as the departure of whites from places (such as
urban neighborhoods or schools) increasingly or predominantly populated by minorities (Merriam
Webster). Urban and inner city are often used to describe people who are lazy and insolent. This
feeds directly into harmful stereotypes about minority populations, such as Black men being
unintelligent and lazy human beings who leave their families dependent on welfare. However, the
use of the word urban has also invaded popular culture, causing it to be synonymous with the
struggle of Black culture. For example, urban music means genres that are primarily created or
popularized by Black peopleand generates billions of entertainment dollars. Urban has become a
vital thread in society and identified by many as overcoming obstacles to achieve wealth and status.

Analysis Of The Film Daisies
The 1966 Czechoslovakian film Daisies was released two years before what was known as the
Prague Spring, where a reformist Czech leader loosened up restrictions in the Communist
dominated nation. The result was the 1968 invasion led by the Soviet Union that crushed this
little rebellion and firmly re established Soviet control of the nation (Encyclopaedia Britannica).
That puts a context on this film and gives some reason to the madness that the film portrays of
two young women who decide to spend the day being bad, which means doing things that are
against the grain of normal society. Nothing criminal happens with the girls (well, maybe some
trespassing and stealing some farmer s crops) but the point is that they want to do things that
aren t really normal for the day. These two girls, both named Maria, are probably about twenty
years old or so, and therefore would have been born immediately after the end of World War II.
Though their youth would have shielded them a bit, it was a time of great transition for the
country as it was under Nazi occupation first before being taken over and held by the Soviet Union.
They probably would have grown up hearing about the great freedoms that their parents
experienced before the war when they were a free nation and as a result, that seed would have
grown within their minds that they too wanted that freedom of expression denied to them under the
Worker s Paradise of Soviet Communism. So, what were the girls

  • 2. The Longest Ride The Longest Ride The warm wind hits my face and time seems to stop. The sound of my horses hooves thumping against the ground is the only thing I hear. Flying wildly in the wind, her mane shimmers in the sunlight. The sound of laughter breaks the silence. I turn to see a woman riding a pure white horse next to me. Her long brown hair and her soft blue eyes send a shock of remembrance, but I don t know who she is. I think hard, trying to search my memories of her. A gold heart shines on her boots. I know who she is! She s BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! 6:00 blinks bright red on my clock. I feel dizzy and my heart is pounding. sleepily, I push the thick covers off of me and slowly sit up. I don t remember what happened in my dream, but I keep seeing her face. It s my mom. My mom died in a car accident when I was five. People say I look just like her, the brown hair, blue eyes, everything. The only thing I have left of her is a fat cat and boots with a gold heart on each one. I don t remember what she was like, but my dad is always going on and on about how I act just like her. Anna breakfast is ready! my dad shouted downstairs. I walk groggily over to my closet and decide on a light blue t shirt, jeans, and my mom s boots. When I walk downstairs the sweet smell of blueberry pancakes fills the air. When I sit down at the table my dad walks with a mound of pancakes on a large plate and he sets it on the table. My dad s not the best cook, but nobody can make better blueberry ... Even more so, he hated ignorance within the Mexican people that allowed such injustices. At the young age of fifteen, Aranga came home to find his mother trying to prevent the rape of his sister. Aranga shot the man and fled to the Sierra Madre for the next fifteen years, marking him as a fugitive for the first time. Hence, the United States put an embargo on Villa, not allowing him to purchase guns, ammunition, equipment, etc., in American border towns. His transactions were, thus, made illegal, which automatically doubles his price. Considering his shortages, troops through harsh terrain to Aagua Prieta. Villa assumed it would be poorly protected and by capturing it, he would create a buffer zone with the U.S. to transport arms in his campaigning efforts. Too his surprise, Agua Prieta was heavily protected, because Wilson had allowed Carranza to transport 5000 Mexican troops to American soil, which had arrived before Villa. The trains of soldiers forced Villa s tired horseback troops into retreat. The U.S. was delighted when Carranza declared Villa done for good. Consequently, Carranza invited old U.S. investors (from before the Revolution) to invest again. On March 9th 1916, Villa crossed the border with about 600 men and attacked Columbus, NM killing 17 American citizens and destroying part of the town. Analyzing Chelsea Rathburn s After Filing For Divorce After Filing for Divorce Chelsea Rathburn s After Filing for Divorce compares the emotions that the speaker feels after filing for a divorce to the morning after a wild party and all the mess someone might find after waking up and realizing all the destruction that is left in the aftermath. Rathburn s speaker recalls how she felt in the beginning of the marriage and now how she feels after filing for the divorce. She sees the wreckage that is her life, the dread of the cleanup, and how her happiness has strayed so far from where it began. The speaker starts to reflect on how she feels like her life is a mess and how she is able to see the mess after filing for the divorce. • 5. How Music Affects A Faster Heart Rate There are many different hypotheses on what type of music affects the heart rate. Whether it be different things (like crescendos or pauses) that affect the heart rate even further. Or slow music with pauses or crescendos could actually speed up the heart rate. There are many pieces of evidence that fast, upbeat musicequal a faster heart rate. But could we slow that heart rate down by adding different effects to the music? On mindblowingfacts.org it states that different speeds of music can alter your heart rate as well as decreaseing your muscle tension. While I was doing my research I found many other examples of how music can affect yourself. Music can affect your stress level, happiness, or your look on life. Music is a very important thing in people s life. It can calm people down, or make people happy, so it also affects our attitude and mood. On ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Your heart is one of the strongest, most controlling organ in your body. The reason I think your heart rate does this is because if you have ever felt a surge of energy when your favorite upbeat song comes on the radio, or if you listen to slow music to relax, the emotions you experience are directly linked to what music does to your heart rate. When you listen to fast paced music your heart rate isn t going to be slow, and same thing if you were to listen to slow, relaxing song your heart rate would be fast. Another interesting fact about heart rate is that it actually changes while listening to music. So this also all goes back to the crescendos and pauses. If you are listening to a fast paced song and it has a decrescendo it would all of a sudden lower your heart rate. Or while you re listening to slow, relaxing music and it has a crescendo it could quicken your heart rate. So it wouldn t matter what type of music you are listening to, no matter what your heart rate will be affected, whether that be slowing down or speeding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When the euro was introduced in January 1999, the United Kingdom was conspicuously absent from the list of European countries adopting the common currency. Although the previous Labor government led by Prime Minister Tony Blair appeared to be receptive to the idea joining the euro club, the current Tory government is clearly not in favor of adopting the euro and thus giving up monetary sovereignty of the country. • 7. The Music Industry Is An Oligopoly The music industry is an oligopoly. Since the late 1800 s people like Thomas Edison have been buying up patents in communication technology, forming monopolies, leading to a non competitive entertainment industry. With only a handful of corporations controlling all aspects of acquisition, distribution and marketing of music, harsh business principles create an exploitative industry that takes the best of what artists have to offer and leaves many of them unable to support themselves. Beginning in the 1950 s with payola and white cover music and ultimately evolving into iTunes and Spotify, the music industryhas grown into a billion dollar industry with far reaching influence and control. Contracts rarely serve the artists best interest and many are left out to dry when their usefulness has expired. In the 1950 s, radio was struggling to keep ratings against the emerging new television craze. Music executives began to pay disk jockeys to play their music. It is called payola and it is still in practice today, although it is technically illegal. The record companies write off the legal fines imposed by the Federal Communications Act as an expense of promotion (Campbell p.88). Black artists in the 50 s were writing some of the most inventive and marketable music of the time, but their music was still not palatable to a white audience as long as it was played by black musicians. • 10. Objective Theory of Contracts The four elements of a valid contract are offer and acceptance, meeting of the minds, consideration and competent parties. The contract must cover a legal purpose or objective as well (Binder, 2012). The objective theory of contracts holds that contract formation is dependent on what is communicated, rather than what is thought by one of the parties (Barnes, 2008). The Pepsi Harrier case (Leonard v. PepsiCo) is an example of a situation where the four elements of a contract are simply not met. Advertisements in general constitute an invitation to treat, rather than an offer. Therefore, Leonard was not able to accept the offer, because the offer never existed. As such, the basic elements of a contract were not present in their entirety, meaning that no contract existed between Pepsi and the Seattle man. The objective theory of contracts is relevant to this case, because there was a clear difference between what Pepsi was thinking and what Leonard was thinking. Each had their own view of what the advertisement constituted, and it is from these differing views that the contract dispute arose. The judge in this situation must use the objective theory to decide the case. This means that the case can only rest on what has actually been communicated between the two parties. In this case, Pepsi has an advertisement that discusses its promotion. The promotion describes a bargain in which a customer presents Pepsi with points and Pepsi allows the customer to redeem those points ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Cinderella By Anne Sexton Analysis Once Mignon McLaughlin said, A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person (Positive). We can somehow relate to McLaughlin s quote as certainly falling in love is accidental, but staying in love is a choice that we make. A successful marriage may be the product of an almost fairytale like romantic story, however, after tying the knot there is harder work and commitment needed from both sides. Throughout human civilization expressing lovehas generated countless literature and intellectual work in every language and culture known. While many of these works will come to rejoice love, others will address it with resentment and bitterness. In her poem Cinderella, Anne Sexton offers us a different version of the traditional Cinderella story. Sexton uses sarcasm and paradox through her poem arguing the sham of happily ever after as portrayed in certain fairytales stories and how it always has been represented through media. On the other hand, Anne Bradstreet celebrates the love of her life, her newly wedded husband in her poem, To My Dear Husband . Till this day, Bradstreet s poem is read in many weddings, due to its sincerity, beautiful expressions, and simple yet elegant language that Bradstreet applied. Sexton s opinion about love sheds a different light on Bradstreet s believes, by putting a materialistic value on love, how society affects the way we look at marriageand love, and finally the reality of happily ever after. Racial stereotypes challenge us to consider our own expectations of what we should get out of a college education, and who or what constitutes a college professor. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the main reasons for my recommendations would be the potential that Comvita s medical segment has to take off. Although it only has a small contribution of 3.469 million now there is potential for this to become much larger. Starting with Derma Sciences finding new uses for their honey and Comvita, selling their products to professional and hospital markets for their special wound dressings. This will greatly increase the amount of sales for Comvita, which will in return generate a greater net profit for the business. This means that other financial elements in the business will also increase which is return will be a positive for potential shareholders. Along with this there is also the new olive tree expansion in Australia the largest of its kind in the world, this new facility increases productivity by 50% increasing the number of olive leaf based health products out there. Therefore this new facility shows that more products are going to be able to be produced more efficiently which in return will mean more sales for Comvita. Overall these reasons give me more than enough evidence to predict an increase in the medical segment of Comvita in the future years. Another reason is the strong dividend yield that Comvita has. The clinical laboratory plays a prominent role in the diagnosis and classification of myeloproliferative and myelodysplastic disorders, each of which presents a unique set of morphologic, pathophysiologic, and genetic traits. The contemporary diagnosis and categorization of these syndromes emphasizes a combination of hematologic bone marrowcharacterization and gene mutation studies. HEMATOLOGIC CHARACTERISTICS OF MYELOPROLIFERATIVE NEOPLASMS Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) are characterized by the proliferation of one or more cell types of the myeloid lineage, including erythroid, granulocytic, monocytic, or megakaryocytic lineages. • 24. Meaning Of Good And Evil For the word, evil, there are many different ways in which you could define it. Evil seems to come across to people as killing and torture, and that is right but there is much more to evil than just those two. Ordinary people do not see a random person walking on the street to be evil, but they could be evilor really just a person walking down the street. Thinking of humans in a more psychological way we tend to only see the bad in someone, and not the good they might have. Throughout history, we do not really see a change in how people view the word evil. To some they may cringe and others it might light up their eyes. Although we all can perceive evil differently one thing is for sure, and that is the word good. Everyone sees good as a positive outlook on whatever is around it. People tend to look at good as if we all should have within us somewhere. These two words have completely different meanings and different outlook. Good and Evilalso means that we are able to give a better understanding of each because of their differences. Although the majority of those choices may be for the greater good, some can hurt others. We are put to the task, and we have several obstacles in our way, and it is our duty to accomplish that task. In Ernest Hemingway s For Whom the Bells Tolls, the character of Robert Jordan risks his life to fight fascism to do his duty, take care of Maria and to wash away his father suicide. To begin with, Robert Jordan takes care of the woman he loves, Maria. Ever since Robert Jordan went with the reclusive group in the mountain, the two of them had empathy of love towards each other. Robert Jordan tries to reject the adulation they have for each other because he thinks that after the bridge is blown, they will not see each other anymore. Maria refuses to think that and shows all her love towards him. Soon Robert Jordan seems to care more about Maria and uses their passion for each other as a distraction from the war. Hewson states that Jordan comes to realize that he and Maria are making an alliance against death through their love for each other (6). Their love for each other designates them forget about everything, and all they want to do is be together. The alliance against death that they have is significant in the story. The men and women who were flung headfirst into the horrific violence of war, whether it be through serving king and country on the frontlines, nursing soldiers who had lost blood, limbs, or their minds, or even witnessing the horrors of war secondhand through brothers, fathers, and husbands back home, became psychologically and morally lost as they wandered aimlessly in a world that appeared meaningless. The years following World War I was defined by a society in which people thought that the world they lived in could no longer support their traditional ideas on love, life, happiness and contentment. However, it was during this age that some of the most celebrated pieces of modernist art, literature, and music emerged, with the epicenter of this movement based in a community of American expatriates in Paris who produced works of astonishing range, incredible depth, and striking emotion. ... Sally refused to give an effort at all. At the end of the camp, Sally received a trophy for showing up the same trophy that all the other children got. Sally cherished this trophyall her life and passed it down to her children since it taught her that you do not have to work hard for anything in your life and you will still be rewarded! As you can see, there are some issues with this scenario. In fact there is a lot of controversy on whether all children should receive trophies, or only a select few. I believe that giving children too many unearned trophies not only has no value, but has a negative effect on their character. Some people think that giving children trophies for participation is good for them because it has a positive impact on the kids mindset. They say that it motivates children to do better and it makes them feel like they are not compared to children who have more talent. However, this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, it fails to motivate them. As claimed by Ashley Merryman in her article, Losing Is Good for You, Awards can be powerful motivators, but nonstop recognition does not inspire children to succeed. Instead it causes them to underachieve. In addition to this, it takes away the glory from the kids who truly do work hard. When some individuals put a lot of hard work into their academics or sports, they should be recognized for it. I have seen that these children get very discouraged when the kids who do not work as hard get the same recognition as them. To What Extent Does Alexander Deserve The Title The Great The definition of great is above average, but Alexander seems average to me.Therefore, I don t think that Alexander deserves the title of The Great . To be great one must be a leader, trustworthy, honest, kind, and brave. Alexander III was none of these things. Alexander was a murderer, criminal, and he enslaved women and children. Paleontology is the science dealing with the fossils of animals and plants that existed billions of years ago. A paleontologist studies the history and process of evolution by examining fossils, the preserved traces of long dead animals and plants. The Rule of Law The idea of the rule of law can be traced back to at least the time of Aristotle who observed that given the choice between a king who ruled by discretion and a king who ruled by law, the later was clearly superior to the former. In more recent times, it is Albert V. Dicey who is credited with providing the logical foundation upon which the modern notion of the rule of law is based. The term rule of law, since reformulated by A.V. • 38. Khn s Reflections On My Critics 3.1 Kuhn s Reflections on his Critics In his paper Reflections on my Critics Kuhn defended his view of science against the criticisms raised at London Colloquium. He observed that the criticisms were mainly focused on four points: methodology, normal science, paradigm change, and the nature of paradigms. Kuhn believed that most of his critics misunderstood his description of scientific development, and hence he sought to clarify his position further. Kuhn noted that his critics claimed that his method is historical, descriptive, and relies on social psychology, whereas their own method is logical and normative. He defended his position by affirming that both of his view and his critics rely on historical case studies and observations on scientific behaviour. The only difference is that he, contrary to his critics, began as an historian of science to construct a theory of scientific knowledge. The Aztecs used scared and solar calendars to tell time and when all the possible combinations had been used, usually every fifty two years, the Aztecs would go through a twelve day period before the cycle started again (Benson 506). To begin conceptualizing Antwone s feelings through an Adlerian lens, a counselor might try to spot inferiority feelings within the client. These feelings are always present and ultimately act as a motivating force behind an individual s outward behavior. One could argue that Antwone s inferiorities stem from the abuse he suffered at such a young age, which halted the average development most humans encounter. In order for an individual to overcome these inferiorities, they begin to act in compensative behaviors. Since Antwone s traumas began in infancy, he never had any kind of stable environment and the one in which he was finally placed (the Tate s) caused him to quickly feel inferior. Antwone may have ultimately developed an inferiority complex because he was never able to compensate his inferiority feelings as an infant. The inferiority complex that Antwone developed has prevented him from being able to cope with the demands of life enabling him to use violence as a way to forget. Antwone s problems can be further conceptualized when thinking about social interest and community feeling.
