1. Essays About Domestic Violence
Writing an essay on the topic of domestic violence can be emotionally challenging and
intellectually demanding. It requires a delicate balance between addressing the gravity of the
issue and maintaining a scholarly tone. The subject matter itself is sensitive, often involving
deeply personal and distressing experiences that individuals may have endured. As a writer,
delving into such a topic demands a high level of empathy and an understanding of the profound
impact domestic violence has on victims, families, and society as a whole.
Researching the subject involves navigating through a plethora of distressing statistics, case
studies, and academic literature that highlight the prevalence and various forms of domestic
violence. The writer must carefully synthesize this information to present a comprehensive and
accurate portrayal of the issue. It's not just about recounting facts but also shedding light on the
underlying causes, societal implications, and potential solutions.
Crafting an effective essay requires the ability to convey the seriousness of the problem without
sensationalizing it. Striking the right balance between being informative and compassionate is
crucial. The language chosen should be respectful and considerate, avoiding any potential
triggers for those who may have experienced domestic violence.
Additionally, addressing the topic responsibly involves acknowledging the diverse nature of
domestic violence and its impact on different demographic groups. This includes discussing the
intersectionality of factors such as gender, race, socio-economic status, and cultural background,
which can shape the experiences of those affected.
Despite the challenges, writing an essay on domestic violence is a crucial endeavor. It helps raise
awareness, fosters understanding, and contributes to the ongoing dialogue surrounding this
pervasive issue. It requires a commitment to promoting empathy, support, and positive change
within society.

2. Work Memory Analysis
Introduction
The working memory aids our ability to remember words over non words,
specifically the phonological loop and visuospatial sketchpad (Baddeley, Hitch,
1994). Other studies by (Paivio, 1991) have shown that concrete words are easier
to recall than abstract words due to semantic associations. The purpose of this paper
is to explore the parts of memory that help certain words to be more easily
remembered than others. Memory is the system that enables us to learn skills and
gain information through sensory memory and short term storage. It is also the
process that allows us to retrieve this information from long term storage (Baddeley,
1974). Being able to create a new memory, put that memory away in storage, and
bring it back when ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They proposed the phonological loop had evolved for language acquisition and
storage. Also their study found that the ability to pronounce a word places it in
phonological storage, allowing you to recall the memory quicker (Baddeley,
1994). The phonological loop has been found to be a workspace for verbal
information (Baddeley, 1994). Other studies have also found that the phonological
loop works to process auditory information as well (Reisberg, 2013). The
visuospatial sketchpad, (Baddeley, 1994) was used to recall a visual object. In the
visuospatial sketchpad images are placed on different spatial maps, which then tied
together with the spatial workspace on the visuospatial sketchpad. The decision
maker of working memory is the central executive. It decides which memories are
retrieved, what information you should focus on, how important the information is,
and how to attain goals (Riesberg, 2013). Without the central executive, our
thoughts and actions would be unorganized in our working memory (Riesberg,
2013). In order to reduce the workload of the central executive, and allow it to focus
towards important tasks, the episodic buffer works to store the information gathered
from the visuospatial sketchpad and phonological loop (Baddeley, 1974). These
models of memory show us how it is organized and operates, and there are other
models of memory that go into how memory aids our
3. Sarasota Beach Vacation
A vacation is a break from society for leisure activities. Most working citizens in
the US want to take a break from life and take a vacation somewhere. So where is
the ideal place to go for vacation then? There are several factors that go into
deciding where to go like price, weather, and activities. Well in my opinion, the
ideal location would be on the coast of Florida, specifically Sarasota, Florida due to
it having everything one can achieve out of a vacation. The white beaches of
Sarasota are astounding. White beaches aren t as common as the classic yellow
beach, making Sarasota s quite unique. When the weather is just right, Sarasota
beach can become a paradise for its guests. This beach is aimed at families since
they are less crowded, making it more fitting for kids. There is sufficient space for
everybody to easily unwind at the beach. The water at the beach is tidy and the soft
sand warms one feet. At this beach, one won t find the typical water bottle or candy

5. Technology In Education
Technology in the classroom John Dewey, a leader for the progressive movement in
education in the United States once said, If we teach today as we taught yesterday,
we rob our children of tomorrow.
To change the ways of teaching. John Dewey advocated for the proper teaching of
children and his ideals still apply today. Although technology can improve instruction
substantially, school districts have to consider the harmful psychological effects,
dangers of the Internet, and costs to maintain electronics. Before using technology in
the classroom, schools should consider upfront cost to purpose technology,
psychological effects to students, and opportunities for instructional aid. To start off,
schools need to realize the amount they can save in the long run by utilizing
technology and lean away from traditional, old fashioned, hard cover books. When
books become outdated and used, schools have to spend endless amounts to replace
them. To avoid this, schools can take the initiate and work proactively and replace
hard cover books with electronics to avoid unnecessary expenses. An example of this
occurred at Empire High School which recently made a switch from textbooks even
though, it wasn t because of a funding crisis. (Source A) Empire High School shows
just how well technology can work. Not only does technology help in saving
necessary funding, it adds a sure convenience factor to the students and teachers by
not having to drag around large and expensive textbooks.

world for the greater good of the human race. Making a great triumph and virtually
eliminating an array of life threatening diseases, from smallpox to diphtheria, thus
adding approximately thirty years to many humans life spans. Although, a new
complication has arisen, possibly linking neurological digression with this rise of new
vaccines. Such a digression has forced parents to exempt their children from receiving
vaccinations and brought forth mental anguish affecting the minds of many. In the

In addition, several celebrities make an appearance to illustrate their views on this
matter. Celebrities such as former Playboy Playmate Jenny McCarthy and

disorders. Though there is a vast amount of compelling data from both sides of the
spectrum this issue has yet to be resolved because the situation is very complicated.
Furthermore, the debate has escalated far beyond just the medical risks and benefits
but now has an ideological principle regarding a parent s decision and governmental
confines. Scientist Hank Jennings says, They still want it to be a choice. They don t
want it to be compulsory (Palfreman, 2010). Additionally, despite the scientific fact
that vaccines are safe, government rule regarding parental choice is another
component increasing the fight against vaccines. Throughout The Vaccine War, the
particular theory exemplified on the human behavior is Cognitive Dissonance Theory.
Cognitive Dissonance Theory is a notion created by Leon Festinger that disputes that
dissonance is an awkward feeling that encourages people to take action to diminish it.
This theory is composed of two components: cognitions and cognitive dissonance.
Cognitions are defined as, ways of knowing,

8. The Importance Of Behaviour-Based Safety
According to the Cambridge Centre for Behaviour Studies, (n.d., P1) Behavioural
safety is the application of behavioural research on human performance to the
problems of the safety in the workplace. Behaviour Based Safety (BBS) is an
approach based on research of people s behaviour (what they do and why they do
it) and applies scientific theories into practical problems. (HSA0392, 2017) It is
also described as a bottom up approach (H. L. Kaila, 2008), because frontline
workers help manager to observe co worker and make suggestions. For a more
broader term, BBS is about everyone s behaviour, not just the frontline (Agnew and
Ashworth, 2012) definition
A BBS approach is based on solid principles (HAS, 2017). Harvard psychologist B.F
Skinner (1940s) is pioneer in this area who discovers the principles of behavioural
science. These principles are applied in institutional and education fields in late
1960s. It is not until 1970s that industrial applications is in Skinnerian behavioural
science. Starting in 1984, Monsanto used Behavioural methods for accident
prevention (Thomas, John, and Stanley,1990) (Rafiq M.Choudhry, 2014) and

10. Broken Chain Of Authority In Henry IV
In Henry IV, Part 1, Shakespeare establishes a theme of a broken chain of authority
through Hotspur s vivid language revealing the Percy s regret in originally supporting
the illegitimate king. Despite originally supporting him, Hotspur shows true
disrespect for the King through symbolism whenever he calls him a thorn and a
cankered Bollingbroke. In Medieval times subordinates of the King were supposed to
show the utmost respect to their superior. Disrespecting and insulting your King was
both taboo and forbidden at the time. Hotspur s language shows how truly disgusted
he is with his King. Hotspur s juvenile insults show that the chain of Authority is
indeed broken. Hotspur doesn t only think his King is disgusting; Hotspur also implies

drops well below the replacement rate of 2.1 children born to every woman, to
somewhere between 1.1 and 1.4 children the declining population will have severe
consequences in the near and distant future. Demographic decline causes anxiety
because it is thought to go hand in hand with economic decline. With fewer,

The...
Being called to love can be summed up by Jesus s words in Matthew 22:37 40,
when he says, Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and
with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is
like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these
two commandments. My understanding of how to loveGod and love my neighbor has
certainly been shaped by the material in this course thus far, especially by the
consistent prayerful attitude discussed in Liturgy of the Ordinary. By implementing
spiritual disciplines such as lectio divina and close reading, I have been able to
center myself on this prayerful attitude and more effectively live out my call to love
God and others.
Through Tish Harrison Warren s Liturgy of the Ordinary, I have gained a greater
understanding of what being called to love means, and I have learned multiple
practical means by which I can live out my call to love. Harrison Warren illustrates
the idea that our call to love is not one that is to be separated from the mundane
tasks of our daily lives; on the contrary, our call to love is to be embraced in the
midst of and through these mundane tasks. Throughout the first few chapters of the
book, the main idea has been to love God more deeply by having an attitude of
prayerfulness, which one could certainly consider a spiritual discipline. Whether
Harrison Warren is speaking of the liturgy of bed making or teeth brushing, the

Most people in the United States understand that there are occurrences of police
brutality, although the episodes of such brutality is minute in comparison to what is
perceived to be the case by the general population. Police brutality is a perception of
excessive force, though depending on the situation, that very force may in fact be the
use of proper force. When it comes to Americans receiving their knowledge of
current event, they usually refer to the media, in which a major topic today is police
brutality.
A Case Study Reference On March 3rd 1991, Los Angeles Policechase a vehicle that

officers and a sergeant. Of those officers were Laurence Powell, Timothy Wind,

Synopsis
William Shakespeare s book, Othello, is a tragedy written in the year 1603, based
on the story, A Moorish Capital. It revolves around four main characters, Othello, his
wife Desdemona, Cassio who is a Lieutenant and Othello s most trusted, and Iago,
who is Othello s ensign, Most of the action in the play takes place on the island of
Cyprus. The themes covered include love, racism, revenge, betrayal, jealousy and
envy, and repentance. The book Othello is a tragedy since it attains the standards put
by Aristotle when defining the word tragedy. The writer uses drama to talk about

revenues of these 3D films have always been on a rise, which is an indication that

director of the movie can add or change some aspects of the story that may not be

16. Stereotyping In Sports
Highly hyped teams will often have shorter odds mainly due to the fact so many
people are betting on them, but if you are a veteran gambler, you will know that
the odds a bookie gives and the hype surrounding a team is not a key indicator of
success. Here are five questions you should ask yourself prior to placing mobile
betting soccer bets on hyped teams (especially if you are planning to stake a lot of
money).
Spend Some Time Watching Their Older Matches
You can often pull up older soccer games on the Internet. It is worth having a watch
to see how well they fair. Is the hype justified based on their in game play? When you

dangerous shots from the opposing team to quash their moral and enthusiasm. The
hyped team may have been expecting an easier game than the one they are getting. If
you see the opposing team continue to apply pressure, you could do worse than
place an in play bet on the opposing team.
Question 5 Is The Opposing Team Overdue A Dramatic Win?
If you watch a lot of team sports, be it basketball, hockey, rugby, football, or
whatever, you will notice that some teams seem to pull off dramatic comebacks when
nobody expects them.
A team can start with pre season games and start their season with a terrible run, and
then out of nowhere they suddenly start winning relentlessly. Do not underestimate
the potential of the opposing team because of their track record. In addition, do not
underestimate them because the hyped team is drawing all the attention. As a long
time soccer watcher, you should know that some teams can suddenly become
fantastic overnight. It even happens in games sometimes. There are times when a
team is a mess on the pitch, and then suddenly pulls it together for no

Through history women have fought for equal rights and freedom. This tension is
derived from men; society, in general; and within a woman herself. In the
nineteenth century, women in literature were often portrayed as submissive to men.
Literature of this period often characterized women as oppressed by society, as
well as by the male influences in their lives. This era is especially interesting
because it is a time in modern society when women were still treated as second class
citizens. Two interesting short stories, Hills like White Elephants and The Yellow

Hills Like White Elephants and The Yellow Wallpaper are both about couples dealing
with a delicate situation in a time when the power of men over women is obvious.
The characters in both stories show that the man has more control and authority than
the woman. Hills Like White Elephants demonstrates this through the use of the
setting, time restrictions, and poor communication exhibited by the couple. In The

Broad...
Conductive polymers are a specific section under the broad range of polymers, that
have the ability to effectively conduct electricity. They were discovered by accident
in a lab by Hideki Shirakawa in 1974, yet their potential applications were not
understood until early 2000s. They are made by doping with n type and p type which
forces electrons to move throughout the material which normally would not happen
because of a polymer molecular structure. They provide many advantages over metals
because of they are light weight, cheap, and functional versatile. Conductive polymers
are frequently used with rechargeable batteries, sensors, and light displays. Lastly,
they have a bright future with the world turning towards wanting more technology
that is light weight and integrated in the day to day functions.
A typical polymer is a very ductile, cheap, and light material that cannot handle high
temperatures or electrical conductivity. Polymers are generally used for plastic bags
and bottles, crates, toys, and insulation on electrical cables. Electrical conductivity
is usually found only in metals because of its small to nonsexist band gap between
the filled and empty bands. Electrons are able to move freely between the bands
which is the current allowing everything to work. Polymers have a large enough
band gap that makes it very difficult for electrons to go between the bands. Large
amounts of energy would be needed to force electrons across this gap. However, with
the addition

Piorkowski (2008) proposes that the fear of rejection is the most prevalent and
underlying of all fears and risks of intimacy. Rejection can look different; it can be
temporary withdrawal or permanent such as desertion. It can take the form of
brushing people off, being critical, contradictory, or false accusation of malevolent
intentions; it can be aimed at appearance and characteristics (e.g. speech mannerisms
and personality) family/ethnicity, background, ideas, and feelings, as well as dreams,
hopes, and aspirations. In short, rejection can take an array of forms, it can be
intermittent or continuous, and its severity can range from insignificant to imposing
(Piorkowski). When rejection is expressed by significant others it is particularly
damaging, Piorkowski states, Because the desire to be liked, attended to, and
approved of is basic to human nature, a disapproving response is invalidating and
threatening to self worth...for women especially (p.69). Adults who experienced
traumatizing separations or desertion, as a child, the fear of abandonment is
extraordinarily agonizing (Piorkowski, 2008). It is further stated, adultchildren of
divorce struggle with intense fears of desertion, even when they re in stable
relationships with loving and loyal partners (Piorkowski, p.70). Piorkowski suggests
that adult children (p. 70) find it difficult to comprehend that their adult intimate
relationships can be different than those modeled when they were children when they
20. Tics And Tourette Syndrome
TIC Dsorders: Tics or spasm like movements of particular muscles, often affect face
and the eyelids. These are unvoluntary movements, but the person with tic is maybe
able to suppress the actions shortly. Although, the suppression results in discomfort
that grows until it is relieved by performing again that tic.
Tics are often made of multiple continuous occurrences of the same action. For
instance, a tic of blinking eyes multiple times or twitching nose repeatedly; the vocal
tics are like throat clearing, coughing, and sniffing.
Motor tics can be classified as either simple or complex. Simple motor tics may
include movements such as shoulder shrugging, eye blinking, nose twitching, and
head jerking. Complex motor tics are series of movements performed in the same
order. For instance a person might kick out with one leg and then the other. No one
knows exactly what causes tics to occur. Stress might be one of the triggers. ... Show

syndrome. For example pimozide is a medication that works by decreasing the
activity of dopamine in the brain.
In many instances, no treatment is needed, tics could resolve automatically; in other
cases behavioral therapy with the suggestion of life style change , medication, or a

21. Examples Of Biblical View On Ecumenism
IV.Biblical view on Ecumenism
According to Cloud, ...the Ecumenical philosophy is widespread, but it also patently
unscriptural for the following reasons:
First, ecumenical philosophy is refuted by the Bible s teaching on doctrine. 1Tim
1:3 states As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia,
that thou mightest charge some that they teach NO OTHER DOCTRINE. In other
words, there is only one true apostolic Christian faith and we have been given the
Holy Spirit so that we know that there is only one true faith we believe in and shall
teach
.
Second, the ecumenical philosophy is refuted by the Bible s warning of false teachers
who preach heresies. This is manifested through Paul s warnings about false teachers.
Not only did Paul do this but so did John, Jude, and most importantly, Jesus Christ.

John 17:21 that has been taken as one of the theme verses for modern ecumenism,
states, I pray that they may all be one Father! May they be in us, just as you are in
me, and I am in you. May they be one, so that the world will believe that you sent
me. It claims that unity which Christ prayed is an ecumenical unity of professing
Christians that disregards biblical doctrine. In John 17, the Lord plainly state that
the unity for which He was praying is a unity based on salvation and truth and
separation from the world. There is also nothing in Christ s prayer that man is to
do anything whatsoever to create the unity herein. John 17 is not a commandment
addressed to men; it is a High Priestly prayer that was addressed to God the Father,
and the prayer answered. It describes a spiritual reality that was created by God
among genuine born again saints who are committed to the Scriptures, not a
possibility that must be organized by man. It may also be seen that biblical unity is
first of all a matter of having one mind in 1 Corinthians

24. Compare Foebel And Montesssoel
Introduction.
My assignment is based on two well known theorists that are known around the
world, and are praised for their work , Maria Montessori and Friedrich Froebel. Both
known for their educational approach to teach children the basics of life in a fun,
entertaining manner. The assignment will be broken down into 3 parts , their
philosophy of early childhood care and education , their contribution to early
childhood education in terms of their implementation and approach , and then finally
my own reflections about their work and who fit in better with my own personal
attitudes, beliefs and values.
1. The philosophy of the chosen theorists.
Montessori philosophy is based on the idea that children were distinctly different
from adults. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tovey (2017) suggested that Froebel understood that children were powerful learners
and were motivated to discover and be interested about the world and to try and
understand it. The same author wrote that Froebel believed that learning should be
significant and related to the children s own experiences.
Froebel believed that children learn best while using their hands ( Shields,2016)
2.Their contribution to early childhood education in terms of their approach and
implementation
Friedrich Froebel invented Kindergarten , meaning garden of children , over 170
years ago . His play gifts were the original educational and the first tools for child
development (Froebel USA,2012) . His gifts were also called occupations.
Gifts and occupations is the terms used to describe the particular equipment created
specifically for children to manipulate in logical and orderly patterns (Hook,2014)
Elkind (2015) indicates that Froebel s first gift was giving a ball to the infant. The
author also suggests that Froebel argued that children of all ages are attracted to the
ball and also argued that the ball the sphere represents a union both at the concrete
and abstract

26. The History and Production of Yummy Jelly Beans Essay
Jelly Beans
Around the world small, sweet, sugar filled candies bring enjoyment to those who
consume them. What are these tiny, pleasure inducing sweets? The answer is jelly
beans. Jelly beans are produced in numerous varieties and flavors; therefore, their
story is just as diverse and colorful as they are.
The History of Jelly Beans Initially, the first jelly bean was created in the early
1800s by an unknown American candy maker. However, one can trace back the
beginnings of their production process to 17th century France. The French made
Jordan Almonds, sugar glazed almonds, by a process called panning, which is now
used to make the hard sugar coating on jelly beans. Panning is the rocking of a

Then the trays are coated with a light layer of cornstarch, which is then left to dry
overnight. The next day, the cornstarch layer is removed, the middles are put
through a moisture steam bath, and are finally sprayed with sugar and left to sit
for another twenty four to forty eight hours. Next, is the panning process where the
centers of the bean are set in a rotating drum, called an engrossing pan. While the
center is rotating, sugar is added gradually to build the hard outer shell. During this
time, colors and flavors are also added to get the unique look and taste of the bean.
Once finished, confectioner s glaze is added to give the beans a shiny, smooth,
and silky appearance. After the beans have been polished (a process that can take
two to four days) they are ready to be shipped to companies and stores. Overall, the
whole process can take between seven to twenty one days depending on the
manufacturer. Consumers can find jelly beans in most candy shops, mini marts, and
grocery stores. If interested in specifically buying Jelly Belly brand, consumers can
go to the Jelly Belly website to make their specialized orders.
Flavors To begin with, there were only a few flavors of jelly beans; however, today
there are many brands all with their own unique renditions on numerous flavors. The
Jelly Belly Company is known for its wide and unusual range of flavors. Their most

The Effects of Gaming on a Person s Health
The effects of gaming on a person is a controversial issue. Many people believe
that it is a bad influence, but there is also evidence that games can have positive
effects on a person s health. Many studies have been done into the topic of the
effects of video games on a person. The findings show that video games have a
positive effect on a person s mental and social health and have many unrelated health
benefits. The biggest type of health that video games affect is a person s mental and
emotional health. Studies show that video games have positive effects on mental
health. In the study Is Time Spent Playing Video Games Associated with Mental
health, Cognitive and Social Skills in Young Children? it was found that video
games have positive effects on mental health. Viviane Kowess Masfety et al. say
The results of the present study suggest that video game use is not associated with
an increased risk of mental health problems. On the contrary, the data presented
here suggest that video games are a protective factor (356). Isabela Granic et al.
discusses the effects video games have on emotions and mood and how these affect
mental health. They say, Several studies have shown a causal relation between
playing preferred video games and improved mood or increases in positive emotion

mental health. One example comes from the puzzle genre of games. The

system make convincing arguments that it is the best system to decide the
Presidential election in a complex society such as the United States. Many scholars
place the Electoral College into a historical context by discussing its evolution and
sustenance throughout the history of the United States. This paper will discuss the
main arguments made by supporters of the Electoral College System. I will first

However, a compromise was made by the delegates to have electors chosen by the
various state legislatures elect the President. This is the decision that made The
Constitution. Critics of the Electoral College often make three main arguments. The
first argument states that the Electoral College does not accurately represent the will
of the people. The Electoral College s failure to capture the will of the people derives
from the winner take all system where the Presidential candidates compete to win the
most popular votes and whoever wins in that state, wins all the electoral votes of that
state. With this, it becomes difficult if not impossible for third party or independent
parties to make a showing in the Electoral College. Subsequently, the argument states
that the Electoral College supports a two party system and discourages third party
and independent candidates, which in turn restricts the choices available to the
electorate. The second argument is the possible role of the Electoral College in
depressing the voter turnout. Since each State is entitled to the same number of
electoral votes regardless of its voter turnout, there is no incentive in the States to
encourage voter participation and, finally the third argument is based on the alleged
unfairness in the process by which the votes are distributed among the

late 19th century. Since the beginning of the early 20th century, the earths mean

There is a positive correlation as the year increases so does the temperature anomaly.
Satellites are useful as they measure the radiances in wavelength bands, which are
then mathematically inverted to form indirect readings of temperature.
Dendrochronology
Dendrochronology is a method using the annual nature of tree growth to determine
changes in climate settings. Each year trees develops a new layer of wood under its
bark. The thickness of each layer is dependent on various factors, especially climate.
The conditions encouraging growth will result in a wider tree ring, whereas the
unfavourable conditions would result in narrow rings. By measuring the width of
each tree ring and plotting them as graphs, scientists are able to determine the climate
changes throughout the years.
They do this by comparing the tree rings and dating them to the calendar year in
which they were formed. By matching the patterns (crossdating) the ring growth of
different trees, scientists are able to assign the rings to specific dates. Crossdating
can even be achieved in spite of the human interference to the tree ring growths and
other factors such as extreme weather conditions. Overall dendrochronology is a very
accurate technique where determination of absolute dates to year is either
theoretically or practically possible.
Limitations of dendrochronology may lead to invalid results. In parts of the world,
specifically the tropics, species of trees will not have a

Either way positive or negative feedback is part of the job.
Some of the situations in which it may be appropriate to provide feedback are to

33. A Comaprison of the Miller s Tale and Merchant s Tale
Comparing Miller s Tale and Merchant s Tale
Alison in the Miller s Tale and May of the Merchant s Tale are similar in several
ways. Both are young women who have married men much older than themselves.
They both become involved with young, manipulative men. They also conspire to
and do cuckold their husbands. This is not what marriage is about and it is
demonstrated in both tales. What makes the Miller s Tale bawdy comedy and the
Merchant s tale bitter satire is in the characterization. In the Miller s tale we are
giving stereotyped characters. The principals are cardboard cut outs sent into farcical
motion. The Merchant s Tale gives us much more background and detailof the
character s lives. The reader is more involved and can ... Show more content on

1851 53). This quote follows distasteful descriptions of January who eagerly awaits
May in bed. The reader is privy to none of this with Alison.
It does not take much persuasion on Nicholas part to talk Alison into having an affair
with her. The idea of tricking her husband is a game for her. With impish delight she
conspires with Nicholas the outlandish plot of convincing her husband that a great
flood is coming. With her husband safety ensconced in a bathtub hanging from the
roof, Alison plays with Nicholas. And it is play for then we have the quot;kissing
quot; scene with Absalom. Alison is having fun with the whole situation, it is just a
great time for her.
May does not love Damien any more than she loves January. He is just a better,
convenient alternative. We know she cares not for Damien as when she receives a
love letter from him she easily disposes it in the privy. It is easy to see that her
motivation for adultery is really one of revenge and not out of affection for Damien.
January assaulted her by the mere fact of marrying her. This is satire on the whole
theme of courtly love. This feeling of revenge on her part is further demonstrated in
the cuckold scene.
May deceives January quite wickedly in the garden. Yet for the reader we can not
fault her for it. January has that garden for the purpose of licentious behavior. It is
there so he can have May sexually in the way he wants her. She

Abstract
The subjectively informative written speech was given in 1970 right before his
induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the year of his death. This
speech applies to multiple areas professional, sports and personal, because of the
principles of winning and success throughout it. Mr. Lombardi could never have
imagined the impact that this speech would have on the world over 25 years later.
This speech has been played for countless people over these years to motivate
companies, teams, and individuals into reaching the only place to be in when
everything is done first place. His use of repetition, allusion and smooth transition
makes this speech easy to follow and ensures that the point of giving your all to
reach first place is driven home. But I firmly believe that in any man s finest hour
his greatest fulfillment to all he holds dear is that moment when he has worked his
heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle victorious.

Public safety is a discipline fit for certain individuals. The type of work they do is
different from one day to the next. Thinking on your toes, adaptability, having
authority, and enthusiasm are just a few traits that are necessary to be successful.
The term public safety refers to the welfare and protection of the general public. The
goal of public safety officials is to provide protection and prevention of dangers
affecting the public like crimes, man made disasters, and natural disasters. One such
person who fits the mold of an emergency manager or public safety official is Mr.

Emotional stability is the ability to tolerate frustration and stress. Being able to be
well adjusted and have the psychological maturity to handle situations are required
to have emotional stability (Air University, 2014). During Sandy, Mr. Holley had
to manage personnel, equipment, facilities, and aircraft during a potentially
volatile storm. Mr. Holley was constantly being asked what if scenario questions
by leadership, and without hesitation he was able to come up with a clear, concise
plan of attack. Enthusiasm is another trait shown by leaders like Mr. Holley, and
enthusiastic leaders are usually seen as active, expressive, and energetic. Optimism
is a key to being enthusiastic, along with being open to change. Generally, being
quick and alert are also required. This type of storm was so severe, we did not have
enough facilities to house all of the equipment on base. Mr. Holley calculated a plan
to evacuate all the aircraft without hardened facilities to another location. His plan
was evaluated and executed within the allotted time frame and with meticulousness.
Compulsiveness is precision and control in social interactions. Being protective of
their integrity and reputation while also maintaining social awareness and foresight
are important qualities of this trait. Mr. Holley s precision was required when he

These different shifts depict the number of customer service employees and the time
frames they are scheduled. The home improvement retail industry has two types of
customers; the professional/contractor and the do it yourself individual. These
customers differentiating shopping trends and support needs are taken into
consideration when scheduling employees for the floor. In evaluating the proposed
schedule, business trend, customer demographic and operating shifts were taken into
consideration when allocating customer service employees during operating hours.
Schedule Shifts
The majority of professional/contractor customers shop during early hours of the
morning which is known as the opening shift (7am 10am). Professional/contract
customers are experienced and have knowledge of the merchandise that they need
and where it s located in the store given their visit frequency. Given these facets, the
number of customer service employees on the floor is much higher than is needed.
The proposed employee numbers are higher than needed and I recommend the AMC
advance planners schedule estimates for the times between 7am and 11am be used.
Using AMC advance planners estimated schedule provides lower staffing costs and
gives you the ability to utilize the employees at a different time during store
38. Analysis Of Lady Lazarus By Sylvia Plath
What would you do if you were given a chance to come back and haunt the people
who did you wrong in your life? Would you go find the person who made you want
to end your life? Or would you realize that every time you rise, you will take
revenge on those who prey on the weak and the innocent? But neither are what this
poem is about. The poem is about our narrator who rises from the dead to take a
stand against our past, and not letting in happen again. In the Poem Lady Lazarus
by Sylvia Plath, there is a sense of pain in the words that Plath uses. The poem is
very hard to follow when we read it for the first time, we must read it multiple
times to see what is going on. Every time we read the poem there are words that
stick out that make us feel the pain in the eyes of the haunted woman narrator.
Plath is very effective at using diction to make the reader stop and think about
what is going on in her poem, using images to create the pain that she is
experiencing as well as being able to use symbols to paint a bigger picture for the
reader. Diction throughout a poem can either make or break it, and in the case of
Lady Lazarus the diction made the poem super strong. The meaning of the word
dictation refers to the word choice that the poet uses, because there is not a lot of
room in poems to use words that do not convey meaning. An example of this is /A
sort of walking miracle, my skin / Bright as a Nazi Lampshade, / (lines 4 5) /My face
a featureless, fine / Jew linen.

While I fully believe that it is important to understand what happens in the past, I
believe that what we experience in the present is just as important. Throughout the
semester this class, values and ethics, has helped me to understand not only the
actions of myself, but the actions of those around me in the past as well. This class
has taught me what it means to have values and morals, as well as how important it
is to accept the values and morals of others. Meeting and being around people who
had different morals and values than I did, is something that I have never really
been around, so this class was both positive and negative for me. Growing up in East

Religion to many people, myself included, is the basis of who they are. Jong
explains the role of religious leaders, within a person s value system. Over the
course of this semester, I have leaned on my religious views to get me through, each
morning before class, I sit in my car and read my bible. Then, coming into class, I
apply my religious thoughts to the topic of the day, it is amazing just how much that
alone changed my views.
Throughout the semester, my values have not really been altered that much. I have
however, accepted people s opinions that are way different from mine. I have heard
numerous people talk about why they think like they do and where they get their
morals from. There have been many times that the people that are in my group, or
sit around me have said things that I do not agree with at all, but instead of arguing,
I listened. While I did not agree with them, in some instances I agreed with their
reasoning behind things, and I think that is important. I think this class is a lot about
learning that everyone is not the same, and that everyone is always going to have a
differnt opinion than you do, and for the first time I think that is ok.
This course has defiantly taught me a lot about stereotype, not just that I have but
that everyone else around me has as well. Coming into the class, I never expected it
to be like it has been. I expected it to just be lectures from a book, but this class

Activity 1 Mandatory
After reading the suggested sources of information, do the following task.
Answer the following using your own words:
1.What is inflection? How does it work? Give two examples of inflection in the
English language. Do not use examples from the materials you read.
It is a word formation process consisting in adding a bound morpheme to a word
without changing its main meaning.
It takes places because of syntactic needs, to illustrate let us take the following cases:
Ann worked yesterday.
Ann works very hard.
In both cases, we can note that there is a syntactic relation between the words of each
sentence with the verb work , that is why the inflectional morphemes ed and s must be
added. In the first example we must attach the inflection ( ed) because of yesterday ,
and in the second because of Ann (third person). ... Show more content on

In spite of the fact that there are only eight inflectional morphemes, this process is

the past tense and the past participle of some verbs (takes, walked, taking, taken).

41. James Baldwin Research Paper
James Baldwin was born on August 2nd, 1924 in Harlem, New York to a young
single mother named Emma Jones. She never talked about James s biological
father because of his drug abuse and she didn t want her baby boy to be put in
danger by her ex husband s problems, but Emma went on to marry a Baptist
Minister named David Baldwin when James was about three years old. James and
his stepfather had a strained relationship and even though this was true James still
tried to follow in his stepfather s footsteps. James also referred to his stepfather as
his actual father. When James reached his teen years he served as a youth minister
in a Harlem Pentecostal church. He started at the age of 14 and stopped at the age of
16. As James went through high school, he demonstrated a true gift for writing and a
true love for reading. The high school, he attended was DeWitt Clinton High School
in Bronx New York. Baldwin worked on the school Magazine with future famous

In these times of despair Baldwin had to take any work he could find. One of these
jobs was laying down railroad tracts for the US army in New Jersey. At this time in
his life Baldwin had been facing racial prejudice. He was not being served at bars,
and restaurants. So one day Baldwin decided to walk into a restaurant where he
knew he wouldn t be served. When a waitress explained that Blacks were not served
at the restaurant he threw a glass of water shattering a mirror in the establishment

In those days, she said, a lot of men s violence towards women was not really
treated as a crime. The police in the USA and the UK usually treated attacks like
this even very violent ones as domestic incidents and hence private matters. Worse,
common wisdom at that time assumed that any woman stupid or brazen enough to
be out on the streets at 3 o clock in the morning was to be regarded as fair game .
According to Cherry, this was not so much about bystander apathy in general but,
rather, a specific form of turning a blind eye to something that is none of your
business , a very different kind of explanation.
Going critical?
So why am I starting this book with this story, you may ask? My answer is that I

cynically, even about social psychology and what it does. The complex and
fascinating story of the story of the rape and murder of Kitty Genovese opens up all
sorts of cans of worms which is what this book is all about. Do not expect to п¬Ѓnd
in this book any simple, factual account of what makes people tick as discovered by

Muhammad Ali fought many boxing greats throughout his career. One of the
toughest fights he faced and eventually lost took place outside the ring and that
opponent was Parkinson s disease. For decades, Ali bravely battled Parkinson s
publicly and played a major role in educating people about this neurological
disease. In 1981, those around Ali started to notice that his speech was started to
slur and his body was slowing down before the last fight of his career. Three years
later, Ali was only 42 years old when he was diagnosed with Parkinson s. A decade
later, he was a former shell of himself and his face appeared frozen and his signature
smile was no longer when he appeared on the Today Show. Ali was part of one of the
most unforgettable
45. Surveillance In Big Brother
Privacy and Protection In George Orwell s 1984, Big Brother uses surveillance to
spy on everything from people s everyday actions to thoughts in their mind s
privacy. The government controls much of the citizens, and this book has left a
horrifying image to its readers for the future of government surveillance. As much as
it sounds extreme, this could be the near future of Americans if surveillance
programs continue to grow. Due to the many findings of Edward Snowden on the
flaws of surveillance programs, changes must be made to the NSA Domestic
Surveillance Programs. Many different intelligence agencies, private and government
run, serve to keep America safe. Some of the best known of these are the CIA or the
FBI, which commonly appear in films. The topic of surveillance, however, mostly...

Also, not to say anything bad about Snowden, but think about it. The people in the
surveillance industry are like Snowden, people like you and me, who have the same
temptations. Although they themselves live under surveillance and they are careful
not to do anything, monkeys fall off their trees. There aren t just a few people
handling our private info; there are millions! Who knows what they could do with
our information? The government also fails the trust factor with its lies. In The
Domestic Surveillance Lie, Eddlem tells how the government misrepresented the
issues about the collection and misuse of personal data (Eddlem). The recurring
denial and acknowledgment of the truth creates nihilism and doubt among citizens. If
the government keeps trying to hide things from its citizens, the relationship that they
are trying to create is going to be destroyed. It is easy to get carried away with
authority, but the government must make a conscious change in that. In conclusion,
NSA s current Domestic Surveillance Program must go through adjustments to meet
the requirements of the

few of them actually have definite answers to these questions .More than 80% of
the students don t really know what career they want to make. Mostly students just
choose to fulfill their parents dream as they have no clue what they want to do. I

The school employs a number of sanctions to enforce school rules and to ensure a
safe and positive learning environment. We employ each sanction appropriately to
each individual situation.
The reward system is a merit based structure, we give merits to pupils who have
worked hard in a lesson or shown they are following the code of conduct and being a
good role model. For unwanted behaviour we apply a yellow and red card scheme if
a child is not behaving in the correct way a warning is given and if no change in
behaviour we would move on to yellow card and then red.
Dealing with conflict and inappropriate behaviour the procedure for any conflict or
inappropriate behaviour taking place would primarily be dealt with by adhering to
the rules set out in the behaviour policy which would result in the necessary sanctions
being applied. These sanctions would be appropriate to age, development and the
seriousness of inappropriate behaviour given.
в—Џ Anti Bullying Policy The purpose of the policy is to set out a definition for
bullying and procedures which should be followed although we seek to prevent
bullying rather than have to deal with the results. The aim is for all pupils and
parents to have self awareness of what the policy is about and what steps should be
taken if bullying arises. Any form of bullying would result in following the
procedures set out
48. Impact on Derivatives
Reserve Bank of India Occasional Papers Vol. 24, No. 3, Winter 2003
Derivatives and Volatility on Indian Stock Markets
Snehal Bandivadekar and Saurabh Ghosh *
Derivative products like futures and options on Indian stock markets have become
important instruments of price discovery, portfolio diversification and risk hedging in
recent times. This paper studies the impact of introduction of index futures on spot
market volatility on both S P CNX Nifty and BSE Sensex using ARCH/GARCH
technique. The empirical analysis points towards a decline in spot market volatility
after the introduction of index futures due to increased impact of recent news and
reduced effect of uncertainty originating from the old news. However, further

Questions pertaining to the impact of derivative trading on cash market volatility
have been empirically addressed in two ways: by comparing cash market volatilities
during the pre and post futures/ options trading eras and second, by evaluating the
impact of options and futures trading (generally proxied by trading volume) on the
behaviour of cash markets. The literature is, however, inconclusive on whether
introduction of derivative products lead to an increase or decrease in the spot market
volatility. One school of thought argues that the introduction of futures trading
increases the spot market volatility and thereby, destabilises the market (Cox 1976;
Figlewski 1981; Stein, 1987). Others argue that the introduction of futures actually
reduces the spot market volatility and thereby, stabilises the market (Powers, 1970;
Schwarz and Laatsch, 1991 etc.). The rationale and findings of these two alternative
schools are discussed in detail in this section. The advocates of the first school
perceive derivatives market as a market for speculators. Traders with very little or no
cash or shares can participate in the derivatives market, which is characterised by
high risk. Thus, it is argued that the participation of speculative traders in systems,
which allow high
49. A Humanitarian Crisis In Syria
What comes to mind when you hear a country is going through a humanitarian
crisis? Perhaps destruction, genocide, surveillance, propaganda, civilians not having
a voice, and much more. This is what happened in the city of Aleppo in Syria.
Aleppo was one of the oldest city with marvelous medieval architecture, rich cultural
history, and its popularity in tourism. Aleppo was an open museum and a home to
two and half million people, but all of that was lost in the Battle of Aleppo. Syriais
ruled by the dictator Bashar al Assad and has been in power for seventeen years.
Assad restricted Syrian civilians from freedom of speech and according to CNN
gave the government broad power to detain people for perceived threats to national
security (CNN).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is strongly suggested that Assad has used chemical weapons on his own people
but till this day he denies it. In September 2015 Russa became involved backing
Assad s soldiers and pounding rebel groups with airstrikes repeatedly. Moreover,
reports of civilian massacres at the hands of Assad s soldiers quickly filter out the
city. The neighborhoods are destroyed making it very difficult to live there, but
some people have nowhere to go and have no choice but to stay. Kids are
wandering the city while explosions are going off every few seconds. In the Vice
episode Assad s Syria Isabella the interviewer comes across three men sitting play
a game and she find it rather weird that they had not left yet, but the men said they
have nowhere else to go. She also asked if they were scared because she was
wearing a bullet vest and they were just sitting in their normal clothes. The men
replied that they are used to hearing the explosions and they had accepted the fact that
at any time they could die. This has been the unfortunate reality for Aleppo for six
50. Leadership And Workshop Development Committee
Overview
Both seasoned and new Nupes often find themselves asking the question, Why did I
join Kappa? , for days, months or even decades after their initiation. While most go
on to answer that question in their head, their responses are seldom shared with the
policy makers of our fraternity. How else, one must wonder, will the experiences of
future Kappamen benefit from the lessons learned by the present day membership?
For this reason, there is the need for some mechanism to capture these fleeting ideas
and deliver a curriculum that seeks to correct missed opportunities of training for
leadership.
In 2015, the Eastern Province of Kappa Alpha Psi sought to provide such a vessel to
its membership through the Leadership and Workshop... Show more content on

Rodger Wilson Leadership Conference (CRWLC) that meets its original purpose for
ALL members. In its most fundamental description, the conference is supposed to
prepare and incite in our brothers varying aspects of achievement, whether that is in
the fraternity, job, or community. The 1957 approach to sharing and instilling
knowledge was most effective in the traditional lecture style workshop where a
subject matter expert taught his brothers the history of the fraternity or the different
goals and themes of Leadership development. While this traditional approach to
education and development worked for decades to prepare some of the most amazing
young men in America and throughout the world for leadership, modernity offers an
opportunity to drastically enhance the outcomes of our flagship leadership
development event.
This year, with the support of the Province Polemarch and Board of Directors, the
committee hoped to provide a leadership conference grounded with in a lens of
collaboration and innovation. This approach would provide the type of training that
would engage members in outcome driven innovation; we called this enhanced
conference CRWLCX. Much like how the TEDX events that have revolutionized the
way people exchange information that supports leadership development, The 2015
CRWLCX used modern instructional and technological techniques to train our
members for leadership in a changing world. The CRWLCx program

52. Traditional Times Vs Modern Times
The selective students came from Elective class (Drama) with diverse
backgrounds and we were brought together to perform Stations of the Cross ,
performance presenting the Traditional times Vs Modern times to the school
audience. The casting for the drama was open to participants to select. The whole
casting process itself was very challenging and fun. In the beginning, I found it was
necessary to engage the participant s focus on the process rather than the outcome
and hence specific requirements for the drama were not decided upfront. Each of
us was given the opportunity to select a station for the drama and to come up with
scripts for both modern and tradition times. We came up with the drama direction
and communicated to the casts taking into considering the feelings, artistic
expressions and deep relationships including the stage set up and color/costumes,
etc. The challenges my group and I faced was towards the group dynamics/culture,
focus and drama management. Though we were guided by Ms. Moeser, there was
no leader appointed to run the show within the group. Clear objectives and task
structure (clear divisions of tasks) were not set in advance. Due to lack of drama
management (as it was a mini project), everybody was involved in everything and
this lead to lack of coordination and distraction from the goal that we wanted to
achieve. This also lead to time loss, low output and concentration. Participants would
go away on their own tangent and involve
53. The Mirror Of Fear Essay
The Mirror of Fear A long time ago, in a far away tropical land called Nira there
was a great kingdom, known for its power, heroes and beautiful buildings. They
were feared for all other kingdoms and anyone had ever been able to beat them in a
single battle. But the royal castle from this land had a curse, hidden inside one of
the many rooms of the place. A mirror, as old as the history of the humans and
whatever other living being there ever existed in that land, was the only thing that
feared the niran people. This old piece, as the legend says, was wrought with
swords of dead brave warriors for a blacksmith, he know his work would be
incredibly and successful, but he could never guess what would arise from that. When

you can do is learning how to deal with them. Pritz asked to the woman to brake the

the knowledge of that lady, gave her the fortune promised to the warrior who could
defeat the mirror. Fija decided to use the fortune to leave the land and know others
places and legends. She did it for a long time, until she was very old, when she
decided to come back to Nira to live the rest of her life close to the place where her
destiny had changed in such an amazing
54. Chris Mccandless And Henry David Thoreau
Both Chris McCandless and Henry David Thoreau explore the idea of authentic
living and simplicity, throughout both texts they portray their ideas to the
audience. The film Into the WIld largely encaptures the ideas of Henry David
Thoreau, sometimes by quoting him, especially his extremely famous piece
Where I Lived and What I Lived For. It is very obvious to the audience that Chris is
a fan of Thoreau s writing and he connects to it greatly. Chris is able to portray to
the audience that he has the same ideas as Thoreau by talking about his writing
occasionally. He explains simplicity to the people he is close with in order to help
them understand why he believes that simplistic living is so important and beneficial.
The ideas that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poison of society is displayed in an eye opening way to the audience in both
texts and assists in proving the point of the need for escape from society. The
significance of simplistic living is demonstrated throughout the texts and soundtrack
of the film. A piece from the film that guides the importance of escape from pressure
is titled Society written by Eddie Vedder. The piece helps the reader understand what
Chris is truly feeling and how it is effecting his happiness in extreme ways. The
song demonstrates the pressures and difficulties of societies we have greed, to
which we have agreed, you think you have to want, more than you need, until you
have it all you won t be free (Into the Wild, Eddie Vedder). These few lines
exemplify the greed many people show without knowing it, it is demonstrating how
people always feel the need for more materials without being grateful for what they
already have. It is also showing how people are extremely unhappy when they don t
have everything that they want or feel that they need. This piece is extremely
important in the film because it perfectly captures Chris s feelings towards the
poisoned society and his disgust towards ungrateful and unauthentic people. While
Society is being played during the film Chris is being shown living his life in Alaska
and working hard to feed himself, but he is happy in nature. It helps the audience see
