TV, more commonly known as 'television' is one of the greatest inventions of the 20th century. In
ancient Greek tГЁle means 'far', and in Latin visio means sight. From my perspective and many

by using a Nipkow disk, the disk was segregated into three sections, where each of those sections
consisted of a spiral system with holes and them being covered by green, blue and red filter. As the
disk would rotate, it would scan an image in all three colors, using all three systems with each turn

Early electronic television Around 1930, it was seen that mechanical television would never be
able to produce a proper quality which could be used for commercials and other programs. An

Officials of the Department of Education say that integrating television, print, and computers will
lead to higher order thinking skills. Postman disagrees with this, saying that "What is referred to as
'integrating three media' or a 'multimedia presentation' was once called 'audio–visual aids,' used by
teachers for years." (FIAW pg.427) Postman is saying that these officials are changing the words
around to sell the show as "beneficial," and ultimately make a profit. Postman makes an appeal to
ethos by mentioning a whole slew of scholars who conducted a study that proved the opposite of

other inventions throughout modern history. Recently television has been given a bad wrap, seen by

commercials a person may never hear about a product that could benefit their life. For example, a
commercial for allergy medication can let someone know that there is relief for their symptoms.

They are used to attract the viewer's attention while also creating a great way to show what the

Using these techniques is clearly marking out what kind of programme is to come, through the
used of humour shown in then opening scenes. The opening theme is slow and serious but also
very catch. It could be linked to the likes of other police and emergency services documentaries
like 'The Bill' because they are very similar in tone. In the television soap 'Eastenders' the opening
credits starts on the centre of East London and pans out to show the larger area of East London.
The most noticeable part of the introduction is the theme music used, it is a very catchy tune that
even people who wouldn't normally watch the programme would recognise. The opening doesn't
need to show any clips of other parts of its shows because unlike most television programmes it is
continuously running so there is no need for it. The area shown is very grey and colourless showing
a lower or even middle class type of place. People can relate to this type of viewing because the
characters are based on working class people. This would also be 'Eastenders' target audience
