of manual therapy (MT) affects conditioned pain modulation (CPM) among adults
with chronic idiopathic neck pain (CINP).

Chronic neck pain is common, costly, and a leading cause of disability. Literature
suggests that ascending pain pathways (i.e. pain pressure threshold or PPT) and/or
descending pain pathways (i.e. CPM) may be impaired in those with chronic pain
[please see Appendix for illustration of ascending and descending pain pathways].
Spinal mobilization (SM), a form of MT, is a common treatment that has been
effective in relieving neck pain according to Cochrane Review (Gross et al 2015). A
recent systematic review (Coronado et al 2015) concluded that although the pain
relief from MT seems to improve PPT; the pain relief, however, is not associated
with PPT, a measure of the ascending pain pathways. Whether the pain relief from
SM is due to its effects on the descending pain pathways (e.g. CPM) is not known at

CPM is a method to test one s endogenous descending pain inhibition status. It is a
simple test that uses a second painful stimulus to identify if a person has a normal

two main problems issues still needed to be solved. Firstly, most of electric
propulsion devices are designed for spacecraft; however, low amounts of electrical
power are available onboard. Secondly, electric thrusters work with small flows of
propellants which result in knockdown acceleration. Both of these could be solved by
finding better alternative propellants or coming up with innovative design methods.
As one of the world leading technology institutions, Princeton set up the Electric
Propulsion and Plasma Dynamics Laboratory to focus on the lithium Lorentz force
accelerator. Because of enthusiasm Princeton shows in the electric propulsion and
efforts made to push its development, I wish I could have the opportunity to join the
Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at Princeton and study with
Professor Edgar Choueiri. Also, I am interested in discussing with Professor Craig
Arnold s and Emily A. Carter about their research on clean energy. The advent of the
Solar Electric Propulsion will be around 2030 and I hope to spend the next decade

It seems in life that we often look at things without really seeing them. Raymond
Carver demonstrates in Cathedral that looking is associated to physical vision, but
seeing involves a deeper level of commitment. The author is making the point when
you put yourself into someone else s shoes and allow yourself to see things the way
they see them, it can be the most rewarding and eyeopening experience.
During the exposition, the narrator shows that he has no problems with eyesight and
he is capable of looking. The narrator is not blind and thinks that because he can see
he is better than Robert. Because of Robert s physical blindness the narrator thinks
that he is not able to have any kind of normal life. The narrator believes that the
ability to see is everything, and puts no effort into looking and seeing anything
beyond the surface. He looks at his house, wife, television, and at Robert when he
arrives. How ironic is it that Robert, the blind man, has the ability to see on a much
deeper level than the narrator? For example, even though Robert cannot physically
see the narrator s wife, he understands her a lot more than her husband. He has truly
listened to her during the past ten years on the audiotapes she sends him. The only
interactions shown between the narrator, the protagonist, and his wife are short
exchanges in which he seems to get on her nerves. It is demonstrated in this conflict
by Robert, the antagonist, that seeing involves a lot more than just looking.
