Abstract Imagine paying $500, $600, $700, or $1,000 monthly for health care insurance only to
realize these payments were for naught. The health care insurance provider that received these
monthly installments has decided whatever is ailing you will not be covered due to a pre existing
medical condition. What if you couldn t have the luxury of health care insurance at all due to the
basis the health care insurance provider has concluded you have a pre existing medical condition?

My Trip To The Great Smoky Mountains
It was the middle of the day, but the sky was a darker blue than usual and there were a few stars
out. It was a bit chilly despite being a clear day in August. The mountains I saw ahead were too
dark to be distinguishable from one another. For that brief minute, the sun had disappeared. Seeing
the total solar eclipsewas the best experience of my summer and one of the best experiences of
my life. My family and I went to go see it in Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee.
I had been really excited for this moment because of how long I d been anticipating it. Plus I d been
to the Great Smoky Mountains before and I really enjoyed being there, so I was looking forward to
going back.
A great aspect about this day was that I was on Clingman s Dome, the highest mountain in the
park, and it was one of the best places to see the eclipse because there was a beautiful view of the
park from up there and the eclipse was not blocked out by clouds, unlike other places along the path
of totality.
My family purchased tickets ahead of time to get up there because it was going to be closed off
on the day of the eclipse to prevent it from being too crowded. We arrived at the parking lot early
where they were loading up the coach buses to go up the mountain and we made it on the first
bus and there we received our solar glasses. The glasses felt like cheap paper glasses, but they had a
solar filter in them that allowed me to look at the sun without hurting my eyes. We were lucky to
have these glasses because when the eclipse was coming near, solar glasses were in very high
demand and a lot of people had trouble getting them.
The ride up to the mountain took about twenty minutes and it was kind of scary because of how
high we were, but I saw some amazing scenery of the Smokies while going up so it wasn t too
bad. Once the bus reached the top of the mountain, I saw the landscape of mountains stretched
out ahead as far as the eye could see. While up on the mountain, people working for NASA had
activities going on and were even handing out solar glasses. Everyone in my family grabbed some
NASA solar glasses because they might be more reliable than the glasses we were given previously
and they would make a neat souvenir.

Gregory Nav A Mexican Filmmaker Who Was Born Essay
Gregory Nava is a Mexican filmmaker who was born on April 10, 1949, in San Diego California.
As a former UCLA alumni, Nava has produced several racially and culturally charged films that
often break new grounds such as, El Norte, Mi Familia, and Bordertown. Thus, Nava dedicates his
filmmaking career to give his audience a distinct point of view which is the central thread of his
films and that which encompasses the Latino culture, experience, and their unjust treatment in
America as oppressed minorities; with the hope of counteracting false stereotypes, misconceptions,
promoting education, compassion, and acceptance of minorities. Nava does this by redefining the
traditional labels of who the insiders and outsiders of society are, he also puts Latinos in the
position of subjects through whose eyes the audience, experience plots, and who speak for
themselves instead of being perceived voyeuristically by characters from outside the Latino
community, and by incorporating what Nava describes as dream realism aspects to his films
(Johnson, 2009).
Nava s $750,000 independent film, El Norte depicts the story of a Guatemalan brother and his
sister s harrowing odyssey to the United States that includes a memorable grueling crawl through a
rat infested tunnel and their struggles to adapt to their new life in Los Angeles (Johnson, 2009,
p.1). Forced with a grueling decision to stay in their native country and potentially be killed by the
Guatemalan Guerillas, like most of

Julius Caesar Tragic Hero Essay
Julius Caesar, a magnificent and well known tragedy by William Shakespeare. But in every
tragedy, there needs to be a tragic hero. But who is it? There have been many different
conspiracies of who the tragic hero was. The most probable person is Brutus. He fits all the
requirements to being one. From his noble stature, his fatal flaw, and his legacy he left to the
world. He is the perfect candidate of being Julius Caesars tragic hero. One of the requirements to
being a tragic hero is to have a noble stature. The reason why a tragic hero needs to be of noble
standing is so they are easily recognizable. So when their hamartia strikes, they fall hard. To back
this up, at one point Cassius says Brutus and Caesar. What is so special about the name Caesar

hero consists of having a fatal flaw. Brutus s fall was definitely caused by his trustworthiness.
Every tragic hero leaves a legacy, Brutus s legacy is a very important lesson. At the end of the book
Mark Antony remembers Brutus greatly,
This was the noblest Roman of them all.
All the conspirators save only he

Science Engagement
The Student Center for Science Engagement (SCSE) at Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU), a
Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI), was established in 2008 with the mission to support students
majoring in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines with the
challenges they face in their academic and career development. Mentoring relationships, critical
components of the SCSE s influence, are fostered by the SCSE s advisors, mostly Ph.D. level
minority scientists. Accessibility to STEM professionals who reflect the student population has
allowed students to envision themselves as scientists. SCSE advisors have systematically
implemented holistic advising including but not limited to major and career exploration, research...

The cornerstone of the SCSE, holistic advising, has played a pivotal role in creating and sustaining
mentoring relationships with students. Advisors help recruit students into the sciences via STEM
class visits at the beginning of each semester and through holistic advising, including coaching in
academic, career and professional development. SCSE staff focus on providing workshops aimed at
increasing student professional development, including the importance of networking, a tool that
many minority students are unfamiliar with (Stolle McAllister, 2011). Additionally, relationships
between advisors and faculty have enabled a multi layered approach in intervention with struggling
students. The collaborative nature of relationships between instructors and advisors has also created
a network in which students can learn of opportunities in STEM, such as undergraduate research
opportunities that advance their professional development. SCSE advisors also provide assistance
with resume building and writing statements of purpose, and provide guidance throughout the
application process for graduate education. Since its inception, the SCSE has had a specific focus
on interactive, student centered engagement strategies. In this paper we present the Student Center

Comparing Freud s Psychodynamic Model To Psychological...
Freud believed that at each developmental stage, the three forces must adjust to changes. In most
cases, this process is successful. When it is not, fixations occur, ultimately leading to psychological
abnormality. Though Freud s variant of the psychodynamic model is the best known, there are
many other beliefs that stem from it. These include ego theorists, who believe the ego is
independent and powerful, self theorists, who believe in the unified personality, and object relations
theorists, who emphasize the need humans have for relationships (Comer, 2015). There are many
treatment options within the psychodynamic model, ranging from psychoanalysisto modern therapy.
The objective of all psychodynamic treatments is to reveal inner conflict

Comparison Of Hamlet s Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead
Although both Hamlet and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead deal with a similar story and
themes, both approach it differently. The themes that are present in both texts, identity and the
willingness whether or not to act; they are brought forth using the same literary elements, such as
setting, point of view, and the uses of character interactions and dialogue. However, the ways each
element is used and how the story is told in both Hamletand Rosencrantz and Guildensternare Dead
is different from each other, as Hamlet takes a tragic turn and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern goes
into the absurd and existential.

Insight to Hamlet s identity is given through the use of soliloquies and monologues. As Hamlet
progresses, his thoughts and beliefs about avenging his father s death are shown and stated by
using soliloquies, asides, and monologues, one of which being the famed To be or not to be
speech (Shakespeare III, i, 64 95). These moments of Hamlet s dialogue, especially that infamous
soliloquy, reveal his true identity as one who is teetering between deciding whether or not to
avenge his father s death.
On the other hand, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern frequently uses dialogue between the two title
characters. With this dialogue they are able to work out their identities, from figuring out who they
are (Stoppard I, 22) to trying to figure out if it is worth it to change fate because their ...movement
is contained within a larger one... (Stoppard III, 122). In both plays, speech is used to help develop
characters identities, while Hamlet relies on one person, Hamlet, to develop his identity, although

Essay on Professional Wrestling

onto another man s prone body can be a thrilling experience. The fact is if you are a fan of
professional wrestling today you have grown used to these stunts as if they weren t as spectacular

Professional wrestling s recent boom in popularity began in the late 90 s, but unlike it s past

In addition to this they also began to appreciate a new style of wrestling, a wrestling labeled as
extreme wrestling.
Extreme wrestling was not your typical wrestling match in which the gladiators would exchange
moves and holds as they built the match to it s climax. In this type of wrestling, the competitors
had replaced the generic moves with high impact moves, steel chairs, barbed wire, wooden tables,
and jumps and falls that resemble movie stunts.
This new type of wrestling has been criticized as being just as dangerous to an athlete s health as
steroids were to them in the past. This type of wrestling has caused many of the upcoming wrestlers
to become myths and legends before they even make it to television.
One great example of this is a wrestler known as Mick Foley. Foley never had physique or looks to

1. Mount Blade : Warband
All medieval action games absolutely have to have one essential thing : Magic, or so the
developers would have you believe. Big names like Bethesda and Bioware have made medieval
RPGs, very successful ones at that, but all of them were firmly set in the genre of fantasy. Well, if
you re one of those gamers who want a medieval game with realistic combat and no magic
whatsoever, then Taleworld s Mount Blade : Warband is the game for you. Mount Blade s
combat is amazing and the designers clearly understood this, allowing the player to frequently be
a part of large scale battles. The combat system is pretty dynamic : there are a variety of melee
attacks that the player can employ, each of them chosen by moving the mouse in a particular
direction. Players can fight on horseback, which gives melee attacks a momentum benefit based on

Yes, the Warcraft franchise does exist, but magic is just an attribute of the character. That s
pretty similar to having an overpowered special unit in Empire Earth or Age of Empires. Battle
Mages, on the other hand, takes magic to a whole new level. Unlike typical RTS games, the
player is actually a powerful spirit who is capable of casting powerful magic spells. In addition,
of course, you have melee and ranged units who you can control like any other strategy game.
This gives magic an element of strategy that simply does not exist in other RTS games. Your
magic is powerful but mostly used for support. Only your units can do the actual fighting. Your
role as the magician is to heal your units, nullify curses and poisons, give them stat advantages
and occasionally casting a fireball at an enemy cohort. Mana is in short supply and no matter
what level you re at, you ll always find an opponent who s powerful enough that you need to rely
on strategy over and above your buffed up magic

Depending on how much filtrate was collected and how well it filtered could have been a factor
in the difference between the measured iron value and the RDI iron value. Another factor that
could have had an impact on the difference between measure and RDI iron value is when we

What would be the impact on Blockbuster s 1988 earnings per share if 5 amortization were applied

If the 5 year amortization were applied in its place of the 40 year timetable, then it is necessary for

activity allows people to express who they are and what they believe is right. Fifty seven percent
of children between 6 and 17 years old participate in at least one after school extra curricular

Extracurricular activities are seen as a way to enhance learning, socialize with their peers, busy

activities do not allow grades to be below a certain level, participants may get revoked from that
activity and possibly other activities. While the negative consequences seem to be the most
influential, the positive benefits help a person grow and develop. Extracurricular activities have
helped develop a person s health socially. With several jobs and everyday activities require some
form of being able to socialize with other people. Moreover, they learn sharing and caring, all at
once (Reddy). At a young age, we encourage children to share and care about other children and
people. The extracurricular activities are helping older students, who didn t learn that as a child,
to share and create a bond between people. If students are not actively involved in extracurricular
programs, they are not in a position to take advantage of the educational and social benefits those
programs have to offer (Vinoski). Without extracurricular activities, students are forced to socialize
with their peers at school or at work and those may not be the best relationships. Those
relationships can either affect a person s attitude and social behavior in a positive or negative way.

Microwaves have auto reheat buttons and other food products buttons, which are functioned

source of energy, usually electric current, hydraulic fluid pressure, or pneumatic pressure, and
translates that energy into motion. The use of robotics for microwaves impacts the society in
domestic situations. The robot fulfils its intended purpose, which is to assist operators with their
household requirements. The automated system saves time and increases productivity as it
follows a series of instructions given by the constructor. The buttons on the membrane keyboard
allows operators to modify and alter their requirements, which can be made for easier use. The
intelligence of this robotics technology leads to a major impact on society. There are over
billions of microwaves in the shops today, which are typically used to assist people with their

It would vastly change those processes. As an example, make a quick inventory of your HR
processes and put them into two categories: those that reinforce the self interest seeking behaviours
of people, and those that support their helping others. Look at concrete processes and mechanisms,
not abstractions like values which, unless translated and embedded in specific practices, have
little effect on behaviours. How long are the two lists? Can you do something to rebalance them?
One possible difficulty you may face is that you do not quite know what you can do to support
the more co operative behaviours. For example, what specific kind of incentive systems might
you use? What kind of decision making processes can you adopt? Structurally, too, what can you
do to hardwire non selfishness which is not at all the same thing as becoming a saint and not the
obverse of self sacrifice in your organisation?

Basques Social Structure
The Basques are people who inhabit a region spanning over parts of north central Spain and
southwestern France. Some people are still confused as to where they have originated from.
Basques are now mainly found in an area traditionally known as Euskal Herria, which is located
around the western end of the Pyrenees on the coast of the Bay of Biscay. The Basques language is
also called the Euskera. The Basque languageis an extremely complex language which has no close
relatives anywhere else in the world. I will be discussing the Basques infrastructure, social structure,
and superstructure how they maintained it all. The Basques infrastructure is not an industrial hub,
but they do maintain a unique regional identity. They can use an update with their infrastructure.
Houses in the city Bilbao houses many heavy industries, such as steel plants and shipbuildings
facilities. They do not have enough railroads tracks to transport merchandise to gain more money.
Social structure in Basques is somewhat similar to America s social structure. They is equality

Basques established ETA. Their goal was to have complete independence from from Spain. 20
percent of the population of Basques is involved with agriculture and 50 percent is employed in

The Domestic Violence And Sex Crimes Units Of The...
Introduction Experience is an attribute of ultimate success in the workforce. In order to gain
experience, I recently completed an internship at the Marion County Prosecutor s Office (MCPO). I
worked for the paralegals within the Sex Crimes and Domestic Violence Units of the Prosecutor s
Office. While completing this internship, I learned several lessons that will help to enhance my
professional ambitions following graduation, while simultaneously learning about the functionality
and dysfunctionality of the organization byand theorizing on how the organization could improve.
Functionality
The Domestic Violence and Sex Crimes Units of the Marion County Prosecutor s Office had
numerous functional aspects to their organization. The organizational structure was one of the
strongest benefactors to the functionality of the office. The Prosecutor s Office could be seen as a
mechanistic or bureaucratic organization, meaning that the office wasis based on a hierarchy with
vertical communication structures. The prosecutors were the highest level of authority; who would
communicate their needs to the paralegals (the middle level authority), and the paralegals would
relay these messages to the interns, who were at the lowest level of the communication structure.
There were were two paralegals within the Domestic Violence Unit who served under eight
prosecutors. As an intern, I was serving under the paralegals. The organizational structure benefitted

Earthquake s Impact on the People of Haiti
On January 12th, 2010, the small Caribbean nation of Haiti was struck by a 7.0 magnitude
earthquake. This was the worst earthquake to hit the region in over two centuries (BBC News).
More than fifty aftershocks measuring over 4.5 followed within the next two weeks. The
earthquakes left Haiti in shambles and exacerbated their conditions. There were 3.5 million people
affected and over 220 thousand killed (Disasters Emergency Committee). Major damage was
caused at the Haitian capital, Port au Prince. The country was manifestly unprepared for this event
and Haitiwas propelled into a downward spiral. The 2010 Haiti earthquakewas a devastating event
which furthered the country s social, economic, and political instability.

However, by purchasing imported food instead of locally grown food, the prosperity of local
farmers becomes undermined. This highlights Haiti s lack of self sufficiency as a country. Haiti
has become extremely reliant on other countries for it to barely scrape by. In response to the
horrific earthquake, the world rallied together and pledged over $4.5 billion in aid to help
alleviate Haiti s troubles. Of the pledged aid, $2.3 billion has already been disbursed (Washington
Post). Yet, years after the incident, the country is still struggling to recover. The money is crucial
for restoration, but it does not create opportunities for the people. The unemployment rate before
the earthquake was at a staggering 70 percent (Global Post). Instead of empowering locals,
projects have been created to provide instant, quantifiable results. As the country becomes more
reliant on foreign aid, their development as a nation is hindered. This, in turn, continues the
vicious cycle of unsustainability. To quote a Chinese proverb, Give a man a fish and you feed him
for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. International aid would also have
been more beneficial if the Haitian government had an honourable reputation.
The earthquake unveiled the Haitian government s underlying problems. In addition to having a
long history of poverty, Haiti was also infamous famous for political corruption. In

Faraday s Law Of Electromagnetic Induction
ABSTRACT This lab is performed to analyze and understand Faraday s law of electromagnetic
induction and also its application in different magnetic components using Faraday s
Electromagnetic Lab simulation software 2.07. In this lab we understand the properties of the bar
magnet, the basic electromagnet and also the electromagnetic induction in transformers. In the basic
electromagnet, we observe the movement of the electronics both in AC and DC current source and
compare the movement of electronics in those conditions. For better understanding of the
electromagnetic induction in transformers, we observe the brightness of the bulb by changing the
number of the loops in the coil, varying the magnitudes of the input ac current and also varying
frequency.
INTRODUCTION
Faraday s law: A time varying current produces a magnetic field, and a time varying magnetic field
produce an electric current. The magnetic field intensity is linearly related to the current which
produces it. The current can be produced by an alternating magnetic field and that a time varying
magnetic field can induce a voltage, or an EMF, in an adjacent circuit. This voltage is proportional
to the rate of change of magnetic flux linkage, or magnetic flux, or current, producing magnetic
field.[1] Faraday s law of induction states that emf is induced whenever the magnetic flux linkage
changes. We can also say that emf is induced in the conductor whenever the conductor cuts
magnetic flux, and the

Essay about James Joyce s Araby
Araby
Even under the best of circumstances the transition from childhood into adulthood is a long and
dreary journey that all young men must encounter in life. A road that involves many hardships and
sacrifices along the way; and when that road is a lonely one, with only oneself to rely upon, the
hardship intensifies to become destructive to those involved. This is particularly true in the story
Araby, where James Joyce portrays the trials and tribulations of a young boy s initiation into
adulthood. Many of the boy s problems lie in not being able to come to grips with the harsh reality
that no matter how much he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the story, Joyce portrays many symbols to show the boys transition into becoming an
adult. Joyce says, I sat staring at the clock for some time and, when its ticking began to irritate me,
I left the room. The ticking of the clock symbolized the long and frustrating journey into
adulthood; and we see from the fact that it irritated him, shows his desire to become an adult
already. Later in the story, Joyce portrays an instance where the boy desires to be a man even
though he is not; From the front window I saw my companions playing below in the street. It is as
if he is an adult, towering over his friends, looking down upon them when in reality they are the
same age as he is.
After receiving money and permission from his uncle to go to the bazaar, we see another
symbol used to show his lonely road into maturity. Joyce says, I took my seat in a third class
carriage of a deserted train. After an intolerable delay the train moved out of the station slowly.
The train is the symbol used here to show the long journey that is taking place in his life. The fact
that it was deserted and that the train moved slowly shows that the transition into adulthood is a
very slow moving time in a boy s life, which can be very lonely at times; I remained alone in the
bare carriage.
Joyce is not portraying how adolescents can act

FROM: Schuyler Ream, PPD 225 Student
DATE: 11/18/2015
SUBJECT: Recommendation on future policy for the 30% Solar Investment Tax Credit
I. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Created in the Energy Policy Act of 2005, the 30% Solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC) is the solar
industry s most important and only public policy that supports the deployment of solar energy in the
United States to both the residential and commercial sectors. The 30% ITC has been successful
in increasing deployment and lowering costs of solar energy. Since the eight year extension
created by the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, solar prices have consistently
fallen year after year while installation rates and efficiencies have continued to rise, thus equaling
the average cost of solar energy dropping by more than 73% and a 6500% annual growth rate
since 2006, as reported by an independent analysis done by Bloomberg New Energy and Finance
dated September 15, 2015, commissioned by the Solar Energy Industries Association. However,
the ITC is set to expire December 31, 2016, and a failure to extend the ITC, according industry
experts reported by PR Newswire July 22, 2015, would result in 90 percent of all solar companies
going out of business and thousands of jobs lost . In response to the looming expiration date, Ari
Natter, Bloomberg Energy Reporter, reports the solar industry is launching an all out push starting
in 2015 to extend the investment tax credit . At this point, there are 3

Another incredibly important factor in selecting a specialized freight company is making sure that
they have a strong relationship with their employees. Happy employees make excellent truck

Lansdowne Hercules Research Paper
Discovered in 1790 on Hadrian s Villa in Tivoli, Italy, Lansdowne Heracles is an iconic structure
that has withstood the test of time. It is the statue of Greek hero Hercules (known as Herakles by
the Greeks), and he is best known the Twelve Labours he carried out for King Euryntheus of Argos.
Ancient artists usually portrayed Hercules as wearing or holding associated with these
achievements, and this is why in The J. Paul Getty Museum the Lansdowne Heraclesis shown
holding a club and a lion s skin, which was his first labour for the King. Another feature prominent
in Lansdowne Heracles is that Hercules is always shown as being nude, and this is because
historically in Greece, male nudity was considered the highest form of beauty. This is the reason
most Greek statues are nude. Since the statue was discovered in Italy, questions arise as to whether
Lansdowne Heracles is Roman or Greek. Considering the facts that will be presented here, history
of the Greek and the fact that Hercules was a Greek hero, the sculpture must be Greek. While
archeologists are unanimous that the Statue of Hercules was sculptured in a Roman workshop in
the 2nd century A.D, they believe that it was inspired by another Greek statue now lost sculptured

The Statue of Hercules shows him carrying a club and a Nemean lion s skin, which are
associated with his first labor. The Nemean lion was a beast found on the hills of Nemea, which
were located in Greece. Subsequent feats that he undertook were all around Greece and therefore,
this is enough proof that the structure could be Greek rather than Roman. When Hercules died, he
was carried to Mount Olympus by Athena where he spent the rest of his eternity as a god (Scott,
2013). Most statues of Hercules are sculptured to portray him as a god, and since this mythology
originated from ancient Greece, it is only right to assume that the sculpture is

Rethinking Emotions in the Brain: The Emotion Paradox
Introduction
Emotions are those pesky little things that fly around our bodies with us rarely realizing how much
our emotions guide our actions, whether it be in our economic or political life, but even in the
fundamental way that we perceive the world around us. The popular children s film Inside Out
teaches our children how to deal with their emotions, depicting the popular psychology conception
of our emotions: Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger play... Show more content on

On one side stands the classical categorical approach that posits that genetically entrenched
emotional categories exist universally across human beings. Meanwhile, the constructionist
approach posits that our emotions are constructed by the same systems that simulate our reality and
our sense of self inside our brains and thus hypothesizes that our emotions should also be
susceptible to being neurologically informed by our own values, judgements, and experience.
Because of this academic dance essential to moving science forward, humanity could be on the
precipice of a paradigm shift in how we think about our emotions and finally resolve what
neuroscientists call the emotion paradox by shining a spotlight on the constructed theory of
emotion, which provides a richer framework for comprehending of how our emotions work and
how they help simultaneously create and explain our reality while also, supposedly, conforming to
the neurologic state of the evidence.
Perception Basics
Though we do not yet know how our brains can produce something so complex as our
consciousness, we do know more about many of underlying systems work, which are crucial to
understanding the neurological basis of emotions. Everybody has good days when we walk to our
car in the morning with coffee in hand on our way to work feeling of

Teenage Pregnancy Rates And The United States
Even though teenage pregnancy rates have decreased in the U.S. in recent years, the rates are far
behind European countries. Studies have shown that U.S. teenagers have (a) high rates of sexual
intercourse at a younger age, (b) high rates of sex without contraceptives, (c) high rates of
pregnancy, (d) and high number of multiple sex partners in comparison to European countries like
Sweden, France, Netherland (Bell, 2009).
One of the main reasons for high rates of teenage pregnancy in the U.S. is the continuation of
ineffective abstinence based education (Bell, 2009) and not allowing teenagers to make abortion
related decisions. In the U.S. Eighty two percent of the teenage pregnancy is unintended and 37 %
of total unintended pregnancies result in abortion. Teenagers choose to abort babies because of
shame, staying focused on career, unstable financial status to support babies and not getting
emotional and economic support from parents. Twenty two percent of pregnant teenagers choose
not to tell their parents (ACLU, 2001).
Teen Pregnancy Prevention Intervention (TPPI) was initiated with the objective of reaching
teenagers to create awareness and help them make safe sex choices and prevent pregnancy through
comprehensive sex education. However, the policy of after school program has hindered in
providing effectiveness of sex education because most of the minority students are not able to
participate since they have to go to work and help their parents to support their family.

Haitian Bridge Scenario
SCENARIO The French government had donated that bridge to help the Haitian people. As I

Should High School Students Get An Honor Code
Students copying answers of the assignments from their peers or internet is abundantly common in
high schools. Even the students with high morals sometimes do copy from their peers when they
need to for the sake of their grades. Colleges look at the students grades to determine if they are
good enough to enroll in their schools. Parents look at the grades to decide whether their children
are doing well in the schoolor not. It becomes the grade, not the educationthat matters. Even though

The Tang and Song dynasties are regarded as the Golden Age of Chinese history for its
revamped and complex political system, a massive boom in economy and production, and an
influx of various religions that made it a diverse time period. This turn in Chinese history was
made possible by the switch from subsistence farming, in which people farmed only as much as
they needed, to a more industrial farming, where they produced for the whole state. This allowed
certain people to specialize in certain topics. Rather than needing to be hunters, farmers, and

Investment in Human Capital One of the biggest assets a company can have is its human
capital. The quality of employees and the extent to which these employees are trained will
definitely determine the failure or success of the organization. When an individual has worked
for a company for a number of years they gain an expertise and knowledge that can t be easily
replaced. The knowledge that person has is sometimes an even greater cost than the previously
mentioned liabilities incurred when they are lost. This type of loss goes beyond just being a
mere monetary loss. The skill set of person allows them to perform job duties that provide
economic value to the company and/or its products or services. Motivated people are always
seeking advancement and anticipating the next career move. If the company doesn t provide any
lateral or upward mobility for its people the turnover rate may be increased by the glass ceiling that
stops the employees from moving up. A part of investing in human capital is to provide ongoing
training and development that allows people to gain the necessary experience to become flexible in
the company. This must also be coupled with incentives like promotion guarantee, bonuses, or
raises. Compensation Compensation is the

My Shadowing Essay On My Grandpa
My Grandpa s fiance has to be one of the coolest and unique people that I have ever met.
She is from Rochester, NY but has been with my grandpa now for about two years and they
currently live in Hudson, NC. We call her Ann which is short for Anna Maria Maid. She runs
her own astrology entertainment business where they charge $100 dollars an hour to talk to a
psychic and read tarot cards. I didn t know what to think about her when I heard what she does
for a living, I expected a devil worshiper who walked around doing evil things, but that is
definitely not anything close to what or who she is.
The first time I met her was in June of 2014, when my great grandpa got sick with cancer
then sadly passed away and we went to his funeral ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I sort of giggled a little bit when I
heard that but then I realized that it is important to never give up and it was cool that she got the
quote from Buzz Light Year.
Over the next few times that I was around her, I really started to love talking to her
because our two personalities just clicked. I could have talked to her for hours and hours and
even for the rest of the day. That is why I decided to choose her as my shadowing essay.
There was one thing she said when we first started our time together and I admitted to her
that I was nervous about my shadowing project. I think I will use it as my own motto because
it s totally true and it s a saying that she got from my Grandpa. She says it is something that she
tells herself regularly to help her not stress out. It is that worry is work without pay . She also
made me feel better because we would go back and forth making funny comments about the
stories she told and picking on each other. I love that she can take jokes and not get offended. I
guess that comes from her being from New York, at least that what she says anyway.
In the interview portion of our time she told me the busiest time of year for her

Piaget s Theory On Cognitive Development
This essay seeks to investigate the strengths and weaknesses of Piaget s theory on cognitive
development. It will focus on Piaget s work highlighting positive attributes and how they re being
applied in modern day and also delve on key limitations of the theory. Piaget was a Swiss
psychologist who was interested on why children would give similar but wrong answers in an
intelligence test (Vidal, 1994). Based on his observations, he concluded that children undergo
sequential cognitive development patterns which occur in defined stages in which the child has to
follow in succession (Martin, Carlson Buskist, 2013). Consequently, we will focus on the cognitive
abilities of a child in relation to socio cultural influence and research methodology that Piaget used.
Piaget s work has been appreciated in the education sector over the years. Education remains the
key pillar for any societal growth and it s very important to identify how best knowledge can be
passed to younger generations in a way that they can understand. Martin (2013) highlights that their
exists four unique stages of cognitive development exist with each stage bearing its unique
characteristics, thus teachers are able to develop curriculum that corresponds to the child s
cognitive ability. More importantly, teachers can establish how best to assimilate knowledge, for
example children in the sensorimotor group will learn explicitly faster through activities that
involve their senses and motor movements. Saettler

Doak S. Campbell Stadium Analysis
Florida State University exemplifies great pride in school spirit, encouraged through infamous
prominent tradition. Doak S. Campbell Stadium exists as a location on campus where this prideful
spirit is in full effect and embraced by students, alumni, and any other visitors. Right in the heart of
this scene, in front of the footballstadium, stands the Unconquered statue. The massive monument,
standing a few stories above the heads of those passing by, welcomes spectators into the stadium
as it sets the glorified mood that takes place during Florida State home football games, especially
when the spear is lit in flames lighting the way to the gates. Even though the statue itself has not
been around for very long, the history behind it has. Back in 1962, Bill Durham, a sophomore
attending Florida State Universitywho was serving on the university s Homecoming Committee,

My journey involved not only me but many others. My journey started when my father let our
home country to come to the USA, my mom didn t want to leave so she stayed. I was left with
my mom and was lonely and a bit mad at my father. At age 3 my mother left to go to the US to be
with my father, I was left with my grandparent. I guess that being without my parents for 5 years
changed me a bit; I can recall sometimes feeling lonely seeing how others had their parents with
them going to place and enjoying being with them. Most of the time I didn t really mind being
with my grandparents because after all I couldn t cry about it and if did, I knew that it wasn t
going change anything. Then in 2008 I came to the US, I started going to school and later on
noticed that being in a new country didn t mean that things were going to be well, I realized that
no matter where you are in the world you still have to work hard to get to places, I didn t feel like
that at the time. After many things happened, many happy and bad times the journey that I have
has made me become aware that one must work hard so that one can become a somebody. I have

Evaluation Of Alfred Hitchcock, Dial
Evaluation of Alfred Hitchcock, Dial M for Murder.
Validity as an auteur can be found belief that true auteurs set the standard and change the way we
view film. More so, an auteur has the incredible responsibility of changing the way we look at the
world and that is their greatest goal.
Alfred Hitchcock is a director and artist in his own right as he needs little introduction to most
moviegoers. His work as a creative entrepreneur during his time in the budding age of film has
created a series of classics that continue to define a standard in crime, thriller and suspense cinema.
As many early critics of film were skeptic of their authenticity as an art form, Hitchcock proceeded
to build upon the groundwork set before him by exploring methods with which lured the audience
into emotional involvement in film. Over time, his mastered technique often reflected in his plot
developments as he proceeded to sway the interest, attention and opinion of his audience to his
liking. Such manipulations would cause the audience to bend the rules of conventional morality.
Such technique had been previously unparalleled and proceeds to be the standard of good film
making today. Even in his early films such as The Man Who Knew Too Much, Hitchcock s ability
to evoke and conflict emotional attachments in his audience was quite apparent as it was not
uncommon for a quintessential bad guy in his film to transition into a protagonist simply based on
plot and character development as you cannot

Twisted Heroes In Our Twisted Hero
Terrorism, one of the most twisted causes in the world, yet it is seen as heroic to some people.
When considering cultural ways of viewing heros, we generally put them on the highest pedestals
for what they do. They are seen as admirable and an image people strive to be. But, a twisted hero
is not someone who is put on that pedestal. They are not admired and look upon as great. By
definition twisted means unpleasantly, or unhealthily abnormal. Also, if you just think about it,
twisted is something grotesque in nature and not desired upon being. Therefore, a twisted herois
someone who, although they use unconventional and undesirable methods to advance a cause, by
the fruit of their actions they are heroic. When looking at the book Our Twisted Hero, by Yi Munyol
, he presents a number of different characters within a classroom setting to be a twisted hero.
Within the story the twisted hero is the 6th grade teacher, who broke up Om s rule over the
class. He did this by beating the class into submission saying I wouldn t have laid a hand on you
unless absolutely necessary (Munyol 95). This shows how the teacher used an unorthodox and
harsh method to produce his results. He explains how he was disappointed in them and how they
so easily gave in. He did the unpopular thing. Like an army does to its adversary he beat that class
into submission. This example ties back into how a twisted hero is not some one desired upon
being for being and using objectionable standards,

Who are the participants in the budgeting process, and how do they participate?
First the management must choose a period of time for which the budget will be used; the most
convenient period is of one year. A period can also be of one month in which it is easier to compare
the real expenses against the planned expenses. A committee of budgeting formed by several
members of the organization executives watch the process of the preparation of the budgeting. This
committee sets the rules by which the budgeting must be done and coordinates the budgets that
separately are prepared by the different units in the organization, and solves conflicts that may arise
to later present the final budgeting plan to the general director and the consul. Instructions must be
delivered by the ordinary chain of command. Decisions over the budgeting must be done by the line
of command, and the final planning by the general director, while the staff can only give advises,
but cannot decide. The person who decides is the budgeting director. His main functions are to
inform the mechanism of the budgeting preparation through computers and telecommunications, to
give the macroeconomics information, make the necessary calculations, gather the numbers for the
budget, and watch that each part of the company gives their proposals on time. Once the period of
time is established, the committee must listen to the companies expectations and objectives. Then a

Satire In The Importance Of Being Earnest
The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde is a satirical play about the trivial values the
upper class held during the Victorian era. In this play, two men, Jack Worthing and Algernon
Moncrieff, choose to bend the rules and live a double life in order to break away from the
monotony of wealthy living. Algernon calls this Bunburying, and is an expert on what it means to
be a Bunburyist. Algernon freely lives his life by his own code of values.
One value Algernon holds is play time rather than family time. When it comes to socializing with
his family, he believes that to dine with one s relations once a week is sufficient enough (Wilde
1942). He says that his family is a dull bunch who haven t got the remotest knowledge of how to
live, nor the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To begin with, he finds absolutely no romance in proposing, as he claims it is very romantic to be
in love , but once the engagement is defined, then the excitement is over (Wilde 1939). Algernon
also claims that if he ever were to marry, he would hope to forget that he did (1939). By saying, A
man who marries without knowing Bunbury has a very tedious time of it, and in married life,
three is company and two is none (1942), he is implying that every marriage needs some sort of
escape, like an affair, in order to survive. This can be the result of the shallow expectations men and
women held for each other in the Victorian era, which locked them into incompatible, loveless
marriages (Schmidt).
Algernon Moncrieff s values are different than the other characters. The females of the play are
materialistic and eager to marry for superficial reasons like money and class. Algernon realizes
this and chooses to value himself by eating, drinking, and Bunbury[ing] all over Shropshire (Wilde
1941). In a way, Algernon is protecting himself from becoming trapped in a set up marriage, until
he naturally falls in love with Cecily Cardew in the

The Tactics Used By The Media
We live in a society that has compromised and diluted our so called free will. Everything that we
do, say, and buy has been motivated and influenced by the media and what our world has deemed
adequate and acceptable. Some of what is portrayed to us by the media is obvious, but often,
companies use covert tactics to manipulate us into becoming the optimal consumers, those who will
buy what we are told, despite whether or not need or even want the products that are being
displayed to us. One of the brilliant tactics used by corporations is called subliminal messaging.
Webster s Dictionary defines the word subliminal as, Relating to things that influence your mindin a

This term subliminal advertising was popularized in a 1957 by a book called The Hidden
Persuaders by Vance Packard. This book displayed a study based on a movie theater in Fort Lee,
NJ that was supposedly using subliminal commands and messages within certain films to
increase their sales of popcorn and Coca Cola. (2) Vicary claimed that he has created a
phycological experiment to determining the effects of such subliming messages on the
consumers that paralleled what was said to be happening in the theatre. He supposedly,
...arranged for the words drink Coca Cola and eat popcorn to be flashed briefly on screen every
five seconds during screenings of the film Picnic. (2) Vicary displayed the words for a single
frame, which was, allegedly, ... long enough for the subconscious to pick up, but too short for the
viewer to be aware of it. (5) Due to the messages being forced on the consumer, Vicary claimed
that Coke sales within the theatre sky rocketed by 18% and popcorn sales sky rocketed by 58%.
(6) In his book, he stated that these results prove that the minds of the individuals that he tested
were influenced by the subliminal messages in the films. (2) This lead him to draw the conclusion
that simply putting words on a screen for a period of time not recognizable to the conscious mind
can influence human behavior. In this case, Vicary said that the

Ultrasonic Distance Meter is a very interesting and useful project for many industrial applications.
In this project we have used the ultrasonic waves to measure the distance in between two points.
The basic principal is based on the speed of ultrasonic waves in open air. We have used a

receiver and transmitters. By measuring the time required to travel the unknown distance by
ultrasonic waves in air we can find out the distance between two points. The distance measured is

  • 6. My Trip To The Great Smoky Mountains It was the middle of the day, but the sky was a darker blue than usual and there were a few stars out. It was a bit chilly despite being a clear day in August. The mountains I saw ahead were too dark to be distinguishable from one another. For that brief minute, the sun had disappeared. Seeing the total solar eclipsewas the best experience of my summer and one of the best experiences of my life. My family and I went to go see it in Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee. I had been really excited for this moment because of how long I d been anticipating it. Plus I d been to the Great Smoky Mountains before and I really enjoyed being there, so I was looking forward to going back. A great aspect about this day was that I was on Clingman s Dome, the highest mountain in the park, and it was one of the best places to see the eclipse because there was a beautiful view of the park from up there and the eclipse was not blocked out by clouds, unlike other places along the path of totality. My family purchased tickets ahead of time to get up there because it was going to be closed off on the day of the eclipse to prevent it from being too crowded. We arrived at the parking lot early where they were loading up the coach buses to go up the mountain and we made it on the first bus and there we received our solar glasses. The glasses felt like cheap paper glasses, but they had a solar filter in them that allowed me to look at the sun without hurting my eyes. We were lucky to have these glasses because when the eclipse was coming near, solar glasses were in very high demand and a lot of people had trouble getting them. The ride up to the mountain took about twenty minutes and it was kind of scary because of how high we were, but I saw some amazing scenery of the Smokies while going up so it wasn t too bad. Once the bus reached the top of the mountain, I saw the landscape of mountains stretched out ahead as far as the eye could see. While up on the mountain, people working for NASA had activities going on and were even handing out solar glasses. Everyone in my family grabbed some NASA solar glasses because they might be more reliable than the glasses we were given previously and they would make a neat souvenir. ... • 7. Gregory Nav A Mexican Filmmaker Who Was Born Essay Gregory Nava is a Mexican filmmaker who was born on April 10, 1949, in San Diego California. As a former UCLA alumni, Nava has produced several racially and culturally charged films that often break new grounds such as, El Norte, Mi Familia, and Bordertown. Thus, Nava dedicates his filmmaking career to give his audience a distinct point of view which is the central thread of his films and that which encompasses the Latino culture, experience, and their unjust treatment in America as oppressed minorities; with the hope of counteracting false stereotypes, misconceptions, promoting education, compassion, and acceptance of minorities. Nava does this by redefining the traditional labels of who the insiders and outsiders of society are, he also puts Latinos in the position of subjects through whose eyes the audience, experience plots, and who speak for themselves instead of being perceived voyeuristically by characters from outside the Latino community, and by incorporating what Nava describes as dream realism aspects to his films (Johnson, 2009). Nava s $750,000 independent film, El Norte depicts the story of a Guatemalan brother and his sister s harrowing odyssey to the United States that includes a memorable grueling crawl through a rat infested tunnel and their struggles to adapt to their new life in Los Angeles (Johnson, 2009, p.1). Mentoring relationships, critical components of the SCSE s influence, are fostered by the SCSE s advisors, mostly Ph.D. level minority scientists. The cornerstone of the SCSE, holistic advising, has played a pivotal role in creating and sustaining mentoring relationships with students. Advisors help recruit students into the sciences via STEM class visits at the beginning of each semester and through holistic advising, including coaching in academic, career and professional development. SCSE staff focus on providing workshops aimed at increasing student professional development, including the importance of networking, a tool that many minority students are unfamiliar with (Stolle McAllister, 2011). Additionally, relationships between advisors and faculty have enabled a multi layered approach in intervention with struggling students. The collaborative nature of relationships between instructors and advisors has also created a network in which students can learn of opportunities in STEM, such as undergraduate research opportunities that advance their professional development. SCSE advisors also provide assistance with resume building and writing statements of purpose, and provide guidance throughout the application process for graduate education. Since its inception, the SCSE has had a specific focus on interactive, student centered engagement strategies. In this paper we present the Student Center for Science Engagement as a model ... • 10. Comparing Freud s Psychodynamic Model To Psychological... Freud believed that at each developmental stage, the three forces must adjust to changes. In most cases, this process is successful. When it is not, fixations occur, ultimately leading to psychological abnormality. Though Freud s variant of the psychodynamic model is the best known, there are many other beliefs that stem from it. These include ego theorists, who believe the ego is independent and powerful, self theorists, who believe in the unified personality, and object relations theorists, who emphasize the need humans have for relationships (Comer, 2015). There are many treatment options within the psychodynamic model, ranging from psychoanalysisto modern therapy. The objective of all psychodynamic treatments is to reveal inner conflict ... The fact is if you are a fan of professional wrestling today you have grown used to these stunts as if they weren t as spectacular as they sound. Professional wrestling s recent boom in popularity began in the late 90 s, but unlike it s past success it is not as safe as once was. While all theatrics the stunts have continued to push the limits to levels that have never been seen before. Extreme wrestling was not your typical wrestling match in which the gladiators would exchange moves and holds as they built the match to it s climax. This new type of wrestling has been criticized as being just as dangerous to an athlete s health as steroids were to them in the past. This type of wrestling has caused many of the upcoming wrestlers to become myths and legends before they even make it to television. One great example of this is a wrestler known as Mick Foley. Foley never had physique or looks to be a professional wrestler. Instead, Mick had a high threshold for pain and a great sense of humor. Mount Blade : Warband All medieval action games absolutely have to have one essential thing : Magic, or so the developers would have you believe. Big names like Bethesda and Bioware have made medieval RPGs, very successful ones at that, but all of them were firmly set in the genre of fantasy. Well, if you re one of those gamers who want a medieval game with realistic combat and no magic whatsoever, then Taleworld s Mount Blade : Warband is the game for you. Mount Blade s combat is amazing and the designers clearly understood this, allowing the player to frequently be a part of large scale battles. Yes, the Warcraft franchise does exist, but magic is just an attribute of the character. That s pretty similar to having an overpowered special unit in Empire Earth or Age of Empires. In addition, of course, you have melee and ranged units who you can control like any other strategy game. This gives magic an element of strategy that simply does not exist in other RTS games. Your magic is powerful but mostly used for support. Only your units can do the actual fighting. Your role as the magician is to heal your units, nullify curses and poisons, give them stat advantages and occasionally casting a fireball at an enemy cohort. In this lab we understand the properties of the bar magnet, the basic electromagnet and also the electromagnetic induction in transformers. In the basic electromagnet, we observe the movement of the electronics both in AC and DC current source and compare the movement of electronics in those conditions. For better understanding of the electromagnetic induction in transformers, we observe the brightness of the bulb by changing the number of the loops in the coil, varying the magnitudes of the input ac current and also varying frequency. INTRODUCTION Faraday s law: A time varying current produces a magnetic field, and a time varying magnetic field produce an electric current. The magnetic field intensity is linearly related to the current which produces it. The current can be produced by an alternating magnetic field and that a time varying magnetic field can induce a voltage, or an EMF, in an adjacent circuit. This voltage is proportional to the rate of change of magnetic flux linkage, or magnetic flux, or current, producing magnetic field.[1] Faraday s law of induction states that emf is induced whenever the magnetic flux linkage changes. Later in the story, Joyce portrays an instance where the boy desires to be a man even though he is not; From the front window I saw my companions playing below in the street. It is as if he is an adult, towering over his friends, looking down upon them when in reality they are the same age as he is. The train is the symbol used here to show the long journey that is taking place in his life. The 30% ITC has been successful in increasing deployment and lowering costs of solar energy. Since the eight year extension created by the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008, solar prices have consistently fallen year after year while installation rates and efficiencies have continued to rise, thus equaling the average cost of solar energy dropping by more than 73% and a 6500% annual growth rate since 2006, as reported by an independent analysis done by Bloomberg New Energy and Finance dated September 15, 2015, commissioned by the Solar Energy Industries Association. • 47. Piaget s Theory On Cognitive Development This essay seeks to investigate the strengths and weaknesses of Piaget s theory on cognitive development. It will focus on Piaget s work highlighting positive attributes and how they re being applied in modern day and also delve on key limitations of the theory. Piaget was a Swiss psychologist who was interested on why children would give similar but wrong answers in an intelligence test (Vidal, 1994). Based on his observations, he concluded that children undergo sequential cognitive development patterns which occur in defined stages in which the child has to follow in succession (Martin, Carlson Buskist, 2013). Consequently, we will focus on the cognitive abilities of a child in relation to socio cultural influence and research methodology that Piaget used. Piaget s work has been appreciated in the education sector over the years. Education remains the key pillar for any societal growth and it s very important to identify how best knowledge can be passed to younger generations in a way that they can understand. Martin (2013) highlights that their exists four unique stages of cognitive development exist with each stage bearing its unique characteristics, thus teachers are able to develop curriculum that corresponds to the child s cognitive ability. More importantly, teachers can establish how best to assimilate knowledge, for example children in the sensorimotor group will learn explicitly faster through activities that involve their senses and motor movements. Validity as an auteur can be found belief that true auteurs set the standard and change the way we view film. More so, an auteur has the incredible responsibility of changing the way we look at the world and that is their greatest goal. Alfred Hitchcock is a director and artist in his own right as he needs little introduction to most moviegoers. His work as a creative entrepreneur during his time in the budding age of film has created a series of classics that continue to define a standard in crime, thriller and suspense cinema. As many early critics of film were skeptic of their authenticity as an art form, Hitchcock proceeded to build upon the groundwork set before him by exploring methods with which lured the audience into emotional involvement in film. Over time, his mastered technique often reflected in his plot developments as he proceeded to sway the interest, attention and opinion of his audience to his liking. Such manipulations would cause the audience to bend the rules of conventional morality. Such technique had been previously unparalleled and proceeds to be the standard of good film making today. But, a twisted hero is not someone who is put on that pedestal. They are not admired and look upon as great. By definition twisted means unpleasantly, or unhealthily abnormal. Also, if you just think about it, twisted is something grotesque in nature and not desired upon being. Within the story the twisted hero is the 6th grade teacher, who broke up Om s rule over the class. He did this by beating the class into submission saying I wouldn t have laid a hand on you unless absolutely necessary (Munyol 95). This shows how the teacher used an unorthodox and harsh method to produce his results. He explains how he was disappointed in them and how they so easily gave in. He did the unpopular thing.
