collect data that would answer my main question, With what frequency and consistency do
students and professors use the literacy support services available at River Community College?

educational methodologies and strategies. Educational research provides theories and pedagogy by
organizing empirical facts (Johnson, 2012, p. 9). These scientific studies reach peer reviewed
conclusions that can be applied in multiple situations. Action research is more specific and focuses
to provide a usable action plan (Johnson, 2012, p. 16). In the 692 and 694 courses, I use the five

Cognitive distortions are basically negative and inaccurate thoughts that our minds convince us of
being true. Everyone gets these kinds of thoughts whether we realize it or not and for some people
they occur more often than others. A simple example of this is someone who fails at one thing and
then thinks or believes that they are failure at everything. Some of these thoughts may be much
more subtle but still have a huge effect on us and our thought process. It s an important topic to
discuss because as we learn more about the different kinds of cognitive distortions we can learn how
to prevent them or change the thoughts. By learning to refute these thoughts we can replace them ...
Impact of the Cognitive Distortion
The immediate impact this negative thought has on me is feeling like a failure and just giving
in. I feel pretty defeated and upset at myself for not being stronger and avoiding temptation .
After this kind of thought occurs and once I m done eating, I initially feel so letdown and angry
at myself but the next day I use it as a motivation to go forward and not repeat it, though I do find
myself occasionally coming back to it, almost as a cycle.

Another negative thought(s) I find myself having often is not being good enough. This is
something that I usually find myself thinking a lot about after an altercation or disagreement with
someone. There have been a few instances in my life when I m put in a position where someone I
care for picks someone else over me, this being both emotional and not. I have found that this is

When we began the project, The MouseTrap Car project, we originally split up the workload
between our idealistic engineer, Justin Phan, and our mechanical builder, Beckett Wanamaker. Our
engineer was in charge of designing each of the potential sketches and our sketches include three
designs. Design 1, the bike, was a mousetrap car based off of the engineeringdesign of a bicycle.
The bike would have two main wheels, one in the front and one in the back. The design would also

Our consult was from Anthony DeGenova and he was able to give us the best design, his
design, for the project. After evaluating all of the potential designs from Valerie Nguyen,
Christopher Martinez and Anthony DeGenova, we decided to go with Anthony DeGenova s
simple design. This design is a simple aluminum 10 inch rod that extrudes from a CD on one end
and another CD on the other end. Each CD is approximately 1 inch in from the end of the rod.
The rod is hollowed out to provide minimum weight which allows for the mousetrap to give
more power to the mechanism. This design allowed for a quick build that gives the best results
according to the previous engineers that did this project last year. I completely defend this idea
because it allowed for our group members Beckett Wanamaker and Justin Phan to efficiently and
quickly build a model that represents a better version of DeGenova s model. Our model is more
efficient than DeGenova s because it uses less glue and tape to allow for a smaller and lighter

structure for a well established Childcare centre that caters for local families with pre school aged
children in the surrounding suburbs and Swinburne University community.

The client has indicated that they are actively seeking to advertise and raise the view of
Kindergarten with the aim of filling both 3 Year old and 4 year old programs to their capacity.
Therefore it is very important that the planned structure can fulfil the requirements of the clients. It

country are segregated by gender some examples are truck driving, construction worker,

you automatically think the nurse is a women but that s okay because in your mind you still see it
as it was back in the day just like if you hear construction worker you think male but there are some
women construction workers. Some of this is due to sexism however male dominated jobs actual
pay more than the female dominated jobs even they when they require the same training and skills.
