Early Baroque Music
Early Baroque Music The Baroque Period (1600 1750) was mainly a period of newly discovered
ideas. From major new innovations in science, to vivid changes in geography, people were
exploring more of the world around them. The music of the baroque period was just as extreme
as the new changes. Newly recognized composers such as Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, and Monteverdi
were writing entirely new musical ideas and giving a chance for new voices to be heard that were
normally not thought of sounds. Their musical legacy is still recognized today, and is a treasured
discovery of outstanding compositions being reiterated with every performance of them. Baroque

Donald Glover s Remedial Chaos Theory
The popular meme of Donald Glover walking into a room filled with chaos originally derives
from the NBC s comedic sitcom, Community which aired from 2009 to 2015 ( Community ).
During the episode that this scene is from, Remedial Chaos Theory , Troy and Abed host a
housewarming party for their new apartment, inviting their study group. When the pizza arrives,
Jeff decides to roll a die to decide who fetches it. According to Abed, this creates six possible
timelines (in addition to the main timeline),, in which he imagines all of them with magnified
creativity. Remedial Chaos Theory was highly received by Community fans, receiving a rating of
9.8 on the International Movie Database website ( Remedial Chaos Theory ). Overall, this specific
episode continues the show s parodical sitcom style with alternating timelines, while further
elaborating on the characterization of the study group, creating an entertaining episode. Despite
alternating the timeline... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, in almost every sequence, Pierce gives or attempts to give his house warming gift to
Troy. However, there are different outcomes in each of the timelines. During one timeline, he
tortures and taunts Troy with his gift of a creepy, Norwegian troll doll, while in another timeline he
makes the decision to throw the gift away, neglecting his initial intentions of seeking vengeance.
This displays the subtle differences that one minor change, a different person going to fetch the
pizza, makes in the study group. One sequenceemphasizes Pierce s hateful and vengeful side, while
another shows he s capable of feeling empathy and regret. This is only one of many examples
within the show where the writers utilize the seven different timelines to produce further character

R. v Burns case Brief
Case Facts
The defendants Glen Sebastian Burns and Atif Ahmad Rafay were accused to have committed
aggravated first degree murder in Washington State. In a confession to an undercover RCMP
officer in British Columbia, posing as a mob boss, it is clamed that Burns was a contract killer
hired by Rafay to kill his parents so that Rafay could get insurance money for their deaths. It is
claimed that Burns beat the victims with a baseball bat while Rafay watched (para.10). They
threw their cloths away and took a bath to wash away the blood. The accused claim that the
alleged confession was a lie to gain the confidence of who they thought was a Mob Boss (para.11).

nullified on a 2 1 decision by the British Columbia Court of Appeal.
The Minister of Justice appealed the British Columbia Court of Appeal s decision to nullify the
extradition without assurances to the Supreme Court of Canada.
The Supreme Court of Canada s Decision
The Supreme Court of Canada (SCC) said in regards to the section 12 of the charter claim, that
in R. v. Schmidt, Judge La Forest J. concluded that the charter cannot be used to govern how
criminal proceedings in a foreign country are to be conducted (para.51) and therefore the
respondents section 12 charter claim was rejected.. However, the SCC decided that s.7 of the
charter was relevant to the case, and made their decision based on the interpretation of s. 7. The
SCC found that s.7 evidently was the real issue they had to deal with (para.31). The minister in
this case, depended on the courts agreeing that the precedent in Kindler and Ng applied to this
case. In Kindler and Ng the courts allowed for the accused to be extradited without assurances by
the Minister of Justice. In Kindler, the courts decided that each extradition case, where convictions
could result in the death penalty, each hearing should be reviewed on a case by case basis known
as the balancing process (para.65). The respondents claim that unlike Kindler and Ng, which were

The Concept of Sales Promotion
The Impact of Sales Promotions Increasing Revenue at 7 Eleven Stores in Singapore
Introduction Profit maximization has since time immemorial been the ultimate goal of every
business. This can be realized by increasing the sales volume. In order to achieve this goal,
businesses may employ various different methods some of which are direct while others are
indirect (Rizvi,Nazi Malik,2011). Sales promotion is one of these methods and it is roughly
defined as a diverse collection of effective incentive tools that are mainly used in the short term
in order to stimulate a quicker as well as greater purchase of specific products or services by
customers as noted by Kotler (1998). Advertisement expenditure grew by 4% between 2004 and
2005 in Singapore (Ang,2007). In this paper, we propose a research aimed at investigating the
effectiveness of promotion activities in increasing sales at 7 Eleven stores in Singapore. Problem
statement The concept of sales promotion is often employed in grocery retailing and therefore
takes up a considerable share of financial resources that retailers spend on their marketing
initiatives (Persson,1995,p.5).The popularity of sale promotion application has of late became a
source of inquiry by both retailers and product manufacturers. Despite the huge sums of money
spend annually on sales and promotions, the economics and dynamics of sales promotions are
poorly understood. As a result, there is a significantly huge knowledge gap to be filled.

Compare And Contrast Political Parties
There have been many losses and victories in creating the government and political parties the
United States relies on today. The two major parties have defiantly changed their original platforms
as time has gone on, but they have each gained voters for their beliefs. Though the parties have
changed over the years, they have also each had recurrent patterns in history. The Democratic and
Republican parties are the two major parties in the United States, and they have many intricate
ways of how they came to be what they are today. In 1492, political government first began when
Christopher Columbus discovered the America s. The Europeans were the first to have control
of the land and ran it on their beliefs. In A Very Short Introduction, Paul S. Boyer says, English
colonists were self governed and ran their land on Christian belief . The colonists also believed
that social status was determined by the wealth, gender, and race of a person. Rich white men had
all of the power, and women were only used for domestic duties. This is... Show more content on

When the Democratic and Republican parties first began, their platforms were not quite the same as
they are today. In fact, they did not even exist until 1791, when George Washington was president.
They began as one single party, know as the Democratic Republican Party founded by James
Madison and Thomas Jefferson. The Democratic Republican Party believed in a loose,
decentralized, democratic government. It was created to stand up against the Federalists party who
supported and pushed through the ratification of the United States Constitution. The Democratic
Republican party came into power because the people of the United States could not thrive if the
government was too powerful and had control over everything. Later on in 1824, the Democrat
Republican party split into the Republican and Democratic Party, after the election of John Quincy

1. There are two books that give me my divine stance: the one God wrote himself (scripture) and
the alternative for those who don t seek the bible (nature). Those who have not seen his teachings
firsthand know of him through his scripture. 2. The sun caused the ones that know him through
scripture to appreciate him; it was a miracle that was to be taken note of above all his other
miracles 3. The pagans knew how to read the word better than Christians themselves, although they
read less into it then those with faith do. 4. I do not forget to give God credit for nature, which is not

Over the many years pigs have developed and evolved into what they are today, 30 differing

not native to America still pose and ecological and economic risk to the nation. Feral swine, as

(Sleeman 2012) All of the initial Eurasian wild boars were released on fenced properties, later,
some escaped there confinement, resulting in more wild pigs throughout the environment. (Mayer
and Brisbin, 2008). The life cycle of these animals entails many characteristics including disease,
predation and even mortality by means of hunters. The free roaming pig population of the U.S. is at
an estimated 4 million. The reproductive strategy of wild hogs predominantly in the southeastern
U.S. is considered very aggressive with high frequencies, intervals and offspring.
Species Description Feral Hogs are a species that evolved in a relatively short period of time on
the North American Continent. Even though there genetics are very similar if in most cases are
the same to domesticated swine, there are noticeable differences. Feral swine over the current

Summary Of The Song Shake It Out
Act 3 Scene 1
For this scene I chose the song Shake It Out by Florence and The Machine. I chose this song
because it talks about having a battle with yourself and not telling anyone about it. It s about
having dilemmas of whether to tell people about whatever you re having trouble with or to just
not tell anybody and keep it to yourself. A quotation from the song that explains this is: And I ve
been a fool and I ve been blind I can never leave the past behind I can see no way, I can see no
way I m always dragging that horse around. This song also describes great misunderstandings and
how the singer doesn t understand what exactly she s done or what she s going to do. This song
connects to the scene because Olivia confesses her love to Viola

Economic Platform For The Philippines
Economic Platform for the Philippines economic growth in the trade sector Brooks (2014)
states that in 2008, the entire Southeast Asian economy received roughly less than half as much
foreign direct investment as China did. Four years later, they pulled to within spitting distance.
Why is there a sudden surge of international interest in this particular region? It is because
ASEAN s five core countries Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand have
been growing faster than any other regional grouping in the world over the past 5 years, with
Philippines standing out in particular because of its impressive 6.6% economic growth rate as
of 2012. The Philippines is now one of the fastest growing economies in Southeast Asia, going
from a developing market to what is considered now as an emerging market in a global scale
because of the competency of trade in the Philippines. To properly define trade, it is a basic
economic concept that involves multiple parties participating in the voluntary negotiation and
then the exchange of one s goods and services for desired goods and services that someone else
possesses (Trade, 2003). Trade has been occurring around the world for centuries and the purpose
of it is to address the problem of coincidence of wants. Generally, there are two forms of trade:
Foreign and Domestic Trade. Akrani (2011) states that foreign trade is the exchange of goods and
services between different countries. It is further divided into 3 groups:

Invisible Man Comparative Essay
Their Eyes Were Watching God and Invisible Man Essay
Life has never been easy for African Americans. Since this country s formation, the African
American culture has been scorned, disrespected and degraded. It wasn t until the middle of the
21st century that African American culture began to be looked upon in a more tolerant light.
This shift came about because of the many talented
African American writers, actors, speakers and activists who worked so hard to gain respect for
themselves and their culture. Two writers were on the front lines of this movement, Zora Neale
Hurston and Ralph Ellison. Their novels, Invisible Man and Their Eyes Were Watching God,
probed deeply into the life and culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the end of each novel, neither Janie nor Invisible Man are as happy as they d like to be. But,
both novels focus not on the bittersweet end, but rather what the characters learned before they
reached the end. Janie realized that her strength was in herself and her pride, with or without Tea
Cake. And Invisible Man realized that quot;My problem was that I always tried to go in everyone
s way but my own quot; (pg. 573), and so took to hibernation, to quot;shake off the old skin quot;
and start living a life he could be proud of. quot; In the end, despite some dissatisfaction, both
characters knew who they were and how to pursue the happiness they craved. By using these two
themes, both Hurston and Ellison took a dramatic leap of faith. These themes add the uniqueness
and non conformism of the stories themselves.
Neither Hurston nor Ellison hid any part of their culture to be politically correct; this fact is
especially visible in the authors use of diction in their novels. In Their
Eyes Were Watching God, Hurston employs slang and colloquial language throughout the novel.
In fact, almost half of the novel is in this form. An excellent example of this writing style is
found on pg. 87 when Janie says quot;Ah m gone tuh de house. Lemme know when dat ol pee de
bed is gone and Ah ll be right back. quot; Ellison uses some colloquial diction and slang, but not

Effective Communication And Effective Communication
Effective Communication is vital in health and social care context. It enables us to develop good
relationships with the service users and to anyone that is involved within health and social care
organisation (Grove, 2012).
As a new care worker, I was asked to shadow my co worker at work. The service user is Mrs. M.,
a 60 yr. old female diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy (MD), she gets easily frustrated and
anxious due to her difficulty in communicating verbally. Though I was slightly nervous, I was
relaxed and has a smile on my face when I knock on her door. I said, Good evening, Ms. M, may
I come in? I waited for her reply. She looked at me, smiled and nodded. So, I went inside and
said, Thank you . In this scenario, I applied the humanistic theory based on Carl Roger s Person
Centred Approached (1902 1987) that states that having an environment that provides substance,
acceptance and empathy helps the person to reach their true potentials (Rogers, 1977). My role as
a care worker is to engage in a manner that promotes individual respect (Alzheimer s Society, 2011).
The benefits of this method are clear through the polite and professional conversation I had with the
service user. Mrs. M felt empowered when the manner of communication we had given her the
feeling of being in controlled of her environment.
When I introduced myself to Mrs. M, I applied the communication cycle theory developed by
sociologist Michael Argyle (1972), it is where the individual

Renaissance Arranged Marriage
Arranged marriage in the Renaissance era was very popular among Florentine families. This was
the way of life for multiple different reasons. Arranged marriages were the way things were run in
order to bring two families together. The two families hopes were to gain an alliance and more
importantly gain wealth. Another objective was producing offspring more specifically boys that
could eventually inherit the familywealth and power. Although there were many positives with
arrange marriage, there were also a numerous amount of negatives with this lifestyle. Arranged
marriagewas a complicated business. The girls were usually anywhere from fourteen to
seventeen years of age with a difference of fifteen to twenty years to their husbands or even
greater if it were his second marriage. Girls were young because with they way society worked
they wanted the girls to be able to produce as many children as possible. The goal was to have the
young girl pregnant every other year until she was done ovulating. Although this seems like it
would end with an enormous amount of children that was not the case because many children did
not survive. On the other hand, men were older when married because society wanted them to have

in general, the issues in regards to prejudice and racism, is where the metaphor weakens for
America as a beacon of hope for immigrants. Many people today believe that Americans have

They even created shrines within their homes for particular Saints, so they could pray properly in
absence of a church. The church and government gave the Southern Italians deep trust issues when
it comes to institutions and people outside of their family and village. The family became the most
important institution in Southern Italy, and this belief carried over with them to The United States.
The WASPs viewed the Southern Italians opposition to religious institutions as disrespectful and
anti religious. In the eyes of WASPs, the Southern Italians antagonistic attitude towards church was
worse than the fact that they were Catholics. A difference in religion was cause for dislike, but an
absence of religious practices, or so they thought, was immoral.
One of the biggest stereotypes depicting Southern Italians as immoral is the idea that they are all

that all organized crime was run by Italians, and that all Southern Italians were involved or

Negotiation Process in Poland
Trust building in Poland. Poland is said to be one of the fastest growing country in European
Union. The elderly people can be conservative because they were brought up in communist times
when economy was centrally planned by the government. But new generation young people are
very open minded.
Relationship and respect
All people in Poland feel they belong to one group. However it does not mean that those people are
not individualistic. The great success in business interactions can be achieved through trust and
long term relationship. Polish people need a time to adjust to the new situation, new culture. They

It can even break the relationship. Aggressive behavior is also not common among Poles. They
hardly ever show anger or leave rooms. Pressure tactics can result in rejection, especially when
they are not particularly interested in offer. As a pressure tactics we can outline making expiring
offers or applying time pressure (Lothar K., 2008). Poles are prone to grimace and make you feel
guilty by appealing to personal relationship. Defensive tactics are also used, such as blocking,
changing the subject, asking direct questions, making promises, keeping an inflexible position
(Lothar K., 2008).
Bribery and corruption is an issue that Poland try to solve. They can be very common, but on
the other hand everyone has different point of view. Some people find bribes as unacceptable
behavior while other treat it as a incentive to do their job well. There is a thick line between gift
and bribe. It can be understood variously, depending on a value of a gift. It is rather advisable to
not bring any gift. If you bring any, that can mean that your intentions are not clear.
Decision making process
Decision in Poland is usually made by senior managers, who represent the group s interest. We can
say that the style of decision making is semi participative, because often the authority is delegated
to lower level. Managers from lower level have to consult their decisions with top management

lots of tension in the painting, however, by the beautiful color combination and over all
composition, Goya lead our eyes around the image creating harmony. Moreover, Goya painted
the figures in the image differently; they had a more three dimension and round looking.
Followed by the 2 de Mayo de, He painted El tres de mayo de (1808) where the main action in
the painting focus on the emotions in the horror of war. In this painting, Goya successfully
expressed rage and fear, and the painting is acknowledged as the first painting in modern era. The
white color on the man s shirt emphasis the focal point and indicates the pure and innocent of a
citizen and also showed the brave side of a man who protects others. Goya s painting had become
iconic symbols for the violence of France to the

Animal Lab Report
The purpose of this lab is to examine the internal organ systems of vertebrate that has similar
internal organ systems of a human. Additionally to be able to identify where organs of the
digestion, circulatory, and respiratory systems are located in a rat and their function according to
the rat s anatomy.
One is able to use rats as a specimen to study human anatomy, as the organs found in a rat such as
the heart, lungs, and the stomach, are also found in the human body. Furthermore, it has been
proved that humans has approximately 99% of the same DNA as rodents especially mice
(Speaking of research, 2016). Due to the similarly in DNA, rodents of any species become an
excellent model to see how a human body works internally.

For an example, Norway rats prefer to eat foods high in protein such as pet food and meat scraps,
while Roof rats prefer fruits (Rat s diet, n.d.). Other similarity between the species in their diet is
their desire to eat sugar and foods high in amounts of sugar. A difference between humans and
rats is the number of chromosomes they have. Humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes, while rats
have 21 pairs of chromosome as evolution occurs faster in rats than they do in humans (Spencer,
2012). Additionally, rats can become the host for the tapeworm Taenia taeniaformis while humans
cannot. The Taenia taeniaformis causes the crystal formation in the rat s liver resulting in it
becoming enlarged. Another disease only rats can get is chronic progressive nephrosis. Chronic
progressive nephrosis involves the inflammation of blood vessels in the rat s kidney. The disease
is more commonly found in older male rats. A rat may get the disease through gender, genetics,
and by salutary factors such as protein content and total calorie intake in their diet (Quesenberry et
al., 2011) A similarity between the two species is the common diseases/disorders they can get such
as hypertension, cataracts, obesity and deafness (Melina, 2010). Finally, a vital difference between
humans and rats are body positions they natural use. A rat is a quadruped meaning they move on

Life In Ancient Egypt
I chose Egypt for my report, first I will start off with Egyptian life.
The Egyptians lives were normally all based on the Nile River, they depended very much so on it.
Once it would flood this meant they were wealthy with the land again. The Egyptians would grow
their own crops, if they could not grow a certain crop that they wanted they would go to the villages
and trade what they had grown with someone for what crop they wanted. Ancient Egypt
population solely consisted of nobles, craftsmen, and farmers. Egyptians also had board games
and it did not make a difference what class you belonged to, you could play if you were poor or a
pharaoh which made this popular during this time.
Trades
The craftsmen who created the items that were being traded were usually skilled men. If he was
indeed a skilled man then he would have an easy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Later the Egyptians started to bury the dead in coffins instead of letting them in the desert where
they would be exposed. They soon discovered the dead that were being buried in the coffins did
not look like the dead in the desert, so they figured they would embalm the bodies to make them
look life like once again. First they would wash the dead body with wine then once finished wash
the wine off with water from the Nile, because that was their only water source at the time. Then
they would remove the insides by cutting the body on its left side. They would then remove the
intestines, lungs, stomach, and liver then wrap each individually with natron which would dry
each piece up, once finished they would go through the nose with a stick and break the brain
apart so they then could pull it out from the nose. Then they would cover the body and stuff it
with natron, 40 days passed and now it was time to wash the body one last time and rub it with
oils. Last they put the insides they had taken outback in the body and it is now ready to be

Wisdom In Socrates The Apology
Socrates, the protagonist of The Apology believes he is providing wisdom to the city of Athens,
which is his service to God. Though, very simple, Socrates professes his own ignorance to the jury

know what he does not know. Furthermore, Socratesbelieves that he is the greatest philosopher of all
time and therefore, must never stop philosophizing. In relation, Socrates goes on and on about virtue
and happiness, which is what he believes makes him the greatest philosopher of all time. Socrates
is very brutally honest, straight forward, and to the point. It is because of this that he feels his

Research Methods And Design Course At River Community College
Introduction I used the proposal developed in the 692 Research Methods and Design course to
collect data that would answer my main question, With what frequency and consistency do
students and professors use the literacy support services available at River Community College?
and its four sub questions. This data was collected between January 11 to March 31, 2016. The
support provided by my family, Dr. Wilcox, my 694 Reading ResearchPracticum fellow student,
and my selected critical colleague allowed me to successfully complete my data collection, my
analysis, and my report.
Educational Research Research, educational and action, are key to the continued improvement of
educational methodologies and strategies. Educational research provides theories and pedagogy by
organizing empirical facts (Johnson, 2012, p. 9). These scientific studies reach peer reviewed
conclusions that can be applied in multiple situations. Action research is more specific and focuses
to provide a usable action plan (Johnson, 2012, p. 16). In the 692 and 694 courses, I use the five
essential steps (Johnson, 2012, p. 16) to conduct an action research project by asking if students at
Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) were given literacy support because so many of my
students seemed to struggle with reading and comprehending course texts and writing course
assignments, even though they demonstrated interest in and understanding of the material in class.
I also was concerned with the high rate

Milgram (1963) conducted a study on obedience which investigated the extent people would
obey to commands that involved harming individuals. There were 40 male participants from
New Haven and the surrounding communities that partook in this study of learning and memory,
at Yale University, by responding to a newspaper advert. The age range was between 20 and 50;
and the participants occupation was diverse, ranging from unskilled to professional. Participants
were paid $4.50 for entering the laboratory. For each experiment there was one teacher

one experimenter (an actor called Mr. Williams who wore a grey lab coat). The participant and
accomplice were asked to draw slips of paper from a hat, which was rigged, therefore, allowing
the accomplice to always be the learner and the participant to be the teacher. The learner was
taken into a room in Yale Interaction Laboratory, where he was strapped to an electric chair with
electrodes attached to his arms. The teacher and experimenter were taken into another room
where there was a shock generator with 30 labelled voltage levels ranging from 15 to 450 volts. 15
volts was verbally designated to be Slight Shock, and 450 volts was verbally designated to be a

Derik Parfit is a philosopher from Britain who concentrates on issues of personal identity, ethics,
relation and rationality. Parfit is of the argument that unless questions about identity are dealt with
then it is not possible to tackle specific crucial questions like memory, responsibility and matters
as survival. Personal identity is important as it helps in addressing certain vital questions.
According to Parfit, survival does not require maintaining or preserving of identity but it is a
common relation that needs pursuing apart from identity and the relation consider are those that
deals with intentions and memory. Parfit argues that survival is a matter of degree unlike
identity. In his argument he aimed at differentiating between identity and matters of survival. As
for survival, whereby in his view it is possible for a person to survive as two, the original person s
relation to that of each of resulting people is of great concern as it creates a sense in which a
single person can survive as two. He assumes that if one s brain is divided into two and planted
into new bodies; both resulting persons will possess the original person s character and memories
of his life. On the other hand, as for identity it is a one one (is all or nothing) relation but matters in
survival need not be one one.
The most important feature that helps us treat survival as a matter of degree is the fact at admits

Introduction
Cognitive distortions are basically negative and inaccurate thoughts that our minds convince us of
being true. Everyone gets these kinds of thoughts whether we realize it or not and for some people
they occur more often than others. A simple example of this is someone who fails at one thing and
then thinks or believes that they are failure at everything. Some of these thoughts may be much
more subtle but still have a huge effect on us and our thought process. It s an important topic to
discuss because as we learn more about the different kinds of cognitive distortions we can learn how
to prevent them or change the thoughts. By learning to refute these thoughts we can replace them ...

Impact of the Cognitive Distortion
The immediate impact this negative thought has on me is feeling like a failure and just giving
in. I feel pretty defeated and upset at myself for not being stronger and avoiding temptation .
After this kind of thought occurs and once I m done eating, I initially feel so letdown and angry
at myself but the next day I use it as a motivation to go forward and not repeat it, though I do find
myself occasionally coming back to it, almost as a cycle.
Automatic Negative Thought
Another negative thought(s) I find myself having often is not being good enough. This is
something that I usually find myself thinking a lot about after an altercation or disagreement with
someone. There have been a few instances in my life when I m put in a position where someone I
care for picks someone else over me, this being both emotional and not. I have found that this is
thought I have a lot in my personal relationships and many times I have this thought after a small
incident or argument. I think this is tendency I have a lot, to think negatively about myself, when
small problems occur.
Cognitive Distortion
This would fall under over generalization. I believe that me taking a small argument or incident that
many times has nothing to do with myself, and turning on to negative thought about myself not
being good enough for other person is something I definitely

The Mousetrap Car Project
When we began the project, The MouseTrap Car project, we originally split up the workload
between our idealistic engineer, Justin Phan, and our mechanical builder, Beckett Wanamaker. Our
engineer was in charge of designing each of the potential sketches and our sketches include three
designs. Design 1, the bike, was a mousetrap car based off of the engineeringdesign of a bicycle.
The bike would have two main wheels, one in the front and one in the back. The design would also
consist of two more smaller wheels, one wheelattached on each side of the car similar to training
wheels . This model was designed to be the safest of the three and was going to give our group a
safe way of building a car that might not be the prize winning design but... Show more content on

Our consult was from Anthony DeGenova and he was able to give us the best design, his
design, for the project. After evaluating all of the potential designs from Valerie Nguyen,
Christopher Martinez and Anthony DeGenova, we decided to go with Anthony DeGenova s
simple design. This design is a simple aluminum 10 inch rod that extrudes from a CD on one end
and another CD on the other end. Each CD is approximately 1 inch in from the end of the rod.
The rod is hollowed out to provide minimum weight which allows for the mousetrap to give
more power to the mechanism. This design allowed for a quick build that gives the best results
according to the previous engineers that did this project last year. I completely defend this idea
because it allowed for our group members Beckett Wanamaker and Justin Phan to efficiently and
quickly build a model that represents a better version of DeGenova s model. Our model is more
efficient than DeGenova s because it uses less glue and tape to allow for a smaller and lighter
model and an aluminum rod which allows for the maximum weight to be barely under 4

Online Piano Lessons
Online Piano Lessons
The piano is an instrument that many people wish to learn. There are many reasons why this is the
case. First and foremost, a piano offers excellent sound even with no accompaniment, yet it can be
played with a group and still stand out. People love to gather around this instrument and sing,
making it the perfect choice for social gatherings, and the availability of music for the piano is
endless. Anyone who dreams of learning to play will find there are several ways to do so, and some
methods are offered online. What are the benefits of choosing this option over the many other?

First and foremost, the person can work lessons around his or her schedule. Hiring a piano
teacher means a person must set time aside in their schedule every week for lessons, and many
individuals find it impossible to do so. They have a job and a family that cannot be ignored so the
lessons are put off or the person never even attempts to learn. This problem is solved when online
lessons are chosen, as the person engages in lessons when it is convenient for him or her.
Some individuals find they are embarrassed by their lack of skill, and this is especially true
when it comes to adults. They don t like to share their lack of knowledge with others, so they
don t even try to learn piano. When making use of online lessons, people find they can move at
their own pace and others won t judge them for mistakes or a failure to progress. The person can
move ahead at their own speed and do so with confidence. He or she can then play for their own
pleasure and only show others what they have learned when they truly feel comfortable doing

Analysis Of White Log
Adapting
Throughout life, people change a great deal. In many novels, the characters change, they usually
have no idea that they are changing. The characters usually change in different ways. Multiple
characters might change by being ruthless and blackhearted, and then at the end, they are a happy
and cheery character. White Fang and Buck have changed an amazing amount. For example Buck
changed from being a happy, lovable character, to answering the call of the wild. White Fang, went
from being a ruthless, wild beast to a lovable, domesticated character. People could build up
confidence and change without the world ending. White Fang is an amazing novel written by Jack
London. The main character, White Fang, is a ferocious, ruthless wolf. At first, he is not allowed
to go towards the wall of light and when he does, he finds the answers to every one of his curious
wishes. He starts out as a curious little pup, then proceeds to be a curious pup until he meets his
first human. When he gets taken back to camp, Kiche comes to his rescue, but they get taken in
instead. He started hunting with his mother at a young age, and therefore he learned things quicker.
He progressed with his mental age of course, throughout the novel, and had to become an adult dog
at a young age to protect his mother and himself. His attitude toward children from the Indian camp
to the time he became a part of Weedon Scott s family, he went through many changes. At Weedon

New Zealand Foreign Policy
Within two days, Prime Minister Peter Fraser responded with a cable that transformed the
trajectory of New Zealand s foreign policy. The cable is not published in full, however, the
published extracts reveal that Fraser emphasised the deterioration in the Pacific theatre and the fact
that His Majesty s Government... do not perhaps fully understand the point of view that is being
forced by circumstances upon the Government and peoples of New Zealand. Further, the cable
speaks of an intention to establish the closest possible relations with the US, while always having
regard to New Zealand s primary connection with the British Commonwealth. In making his
position clear, Fraser proposed that the New Zealand government send to Washington a Minister
of the Crown on special mission . The importance of this cable as a whole, particularly the final
proposal, cannot be understated and is exemplified by the regard afforded to it by historians. Wood
refers to this cable as the most important single document in the formation of New Zealand foreign
policy. McIntyre speaks of this moment as when the phase of dual dependency began .
Lissington looks at this proposal as a new phase in New Zealand s foreign policy . The reason
for its remarkable significance is that it was the first time New Zealand looked beyond Britain for
a formal security alliance. It must be recognised that New Zealand had not yet formally severed its
ties with Britain, had no overseas missions outside

The Major Functions of the Liver
The liver is a crucial organ in the body of vertebrates and mammals. It has a wide variety of
functions from protein synthesis from blood, to production of biochemical s necessary for
digestion, and to detoxification of blood. The liver is essential for survival and there is no way to
compensate for the absence of liverfunction.
The liver is a multiple lobed organ that is in the front part of the abdominal cavity. It is
positioned directly behind the diaphragm and in front of the stomach. It is situated straight
across the front of the abdomen, with more of the liver on the right side. A normal liver color is
deep red to brownish with a firm consistency. The liver is divided into several lobes and each is
made up of multisided units called hepatic lobules. Each lobule is composed of a rounded pane
of cells that give it a spongy texture and enables it to hold large amounts of blood. There are two
major blood vessels that enter the liver. Firstly, the portal vein, which carries most of the blood to
the liver and contains nutrients from the gastrointestinal tract. The second is the hepatic artery,
which carries oxygen rich blood to the liver from the heart and lungs. There are two major
structures that leave the liver, the hepatic vein and the bile duct. The hepatic vein takes the blood
from the liver, while the bile duct takes bile to the gall bladder.
The liver is a storage place for glucose and production of urea from amino groups and ammonia. It

Developing A Sustainable Marketing And Human Resource...
Description of the Project Proposal
The project requirement as I understand is to develop a sustainable marketing and human resource
structure for a well established Childcare centre that caters for local families with pre school aged
children in the surrounding suburbs and Swinburne University community.
This structure must have a low financial budget and also cater for further expansion in the future.
The client has indicated that they are actively seeking to advertise and raise the view of
Kindergarten with the aim of filling both 3 Year old and 4 year old programs to their capacity.
Therefore it is very important that the planned structure can fulfil the requirements of the clients. It
is also mentioned that the client is very cautious of a structure that all new individuals can follow
even if they don t have the right skills and experience needed to finish the task. This is proposed in
the form of the Annual Marketing Plan, which will be conducted by volunteers who constantly keep
changing every year. Therefore this designed structure must cater for the client with this particular
need. Furthermore, the client has indicated an interest in the professional development of their staff
and would like to conduct programs that would help the staff be motivated in the work they
perform. Although this is not yet confirmed as a definite trial, the designed structure should be able
to achieve this possibility.

Pontius Pilate As A Neutral Figure
Many critics argue that Pontius Pilate was either a positive or negative figure; I am going to
argue that he was a neutral figure based on his actions in regards to Jesus s trial, his attempt at
getting Jesus released, and his absolution and refusal in regards to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
Mark Powell from bibleodyssey.org has a very different stance than I do. He argues that Pilate
condemned Jesusto death and had him tortured and crucified . The story of Jesus s trial and
crucifixion was told in all four of the Gospels and all of the stories vary in some manner. John 18
and 19 as well as Luke 23 show different sides of Pilate and the dilemma he faced with this

In Wicca, Akasha is the name given to the 5th Element also known as Spirit, not the human Spirit,

The word Akasha itself is a Sanskrit word for Aether meaning clear sky or pure air. This must not

Is interesting to know that in Alchemy, Aether unlike other elements didn t have a definite symbol
and it was normally and unofficially represented by a circle.

We are interconnected and all happens in and through Akasha.
So, if we consider the above statement, then we have a big responsibility towards nature and
ourselves, therefore we need to learn to understand and control the elements. What I mean by
controlling the elements is that by understanding the 3 aspects of the elements, how they manifest
within us and around us, we can achieve balance, through our daily practice, rituals, connecting

The farm gets over run by animals who feel neglected by their owner Mr. Jones. One night Mr.

together in freedom with no humans to control them. The unambiguous truth of the matter is that
Old Major, plays a significant part in the play because after he passes away the other animals come

that takes place in the book by his ability to persuade the other animals to share his indignation.
Although he does not appear often, he plays one of the most important roles. After Mr. Jones passes
away the animals have the ambition to rebel and the revolution begins. They begin to clandestinely

Crime in Urban America has been around for many years, it is atrocious and there are many
reasons why people commit these crimes. Crime is a big issue all around the world and while
there is more production of drugs and loss of jobs, the crime rate will continue to increase day by

poverty which causes the poor to adapt into a violent and aggressive behavior to which later

The environment of where a person was raised is another leading cause of crime. When someone
grows up in a place where they see all these bad things happening in their society it serves as a
role model to them and they adapt other people s actions. Growing up in a household where
somebody does not have parents or a guardian telling them what is right from wrong leads you to
do the unthinkable because they do not have any family direction showing you the right way to
live life. One of the most important environmental factors during childhood development is that
of socialization or the way a child is taught how to act (Chemistry Web) Lack of faith causes a
person to think of violence as their only way to get attention. When someone has no religious
values, they think of all the bad things that are bothering them instead of the good that they can

The Blacker The Berry Analysis
Do you know what it was and still is for an African American to step foot into society? From the
1950s/ 60s to 2017, artists have tried to describe African Americans clash with Caucasian
supremacy. This topic is reflected in Motown artist Marvin Gaye s songs What s Going On and
Wholy Holy , and rapper Kendrick Lamar s lyrics The Blacker The Berry and Hii Power . Marvin
Gayes songs talk about what exactly it was like during his era to be African American and face the
trials and tribulations in white society. His lyrics talk about why it is so significant that African
Americans come together as one to try and build a better nation. Kendrick Lamar s music talks
about how Caucasians body language shows their prejudice although they... Show more content on

He was seeking peace between differing ethnicities and putting out music he believed addressed the
situations in racist America the correct way. Kendrick is more about putting out music on political
issues that occur and he does not care how Caucasians feel about his musical style. He states that
racism and police violence are wrong but does not state that he wants to fix the broken relationship
between African Americans and Caucasian because he is more stuck on the fact that African
Americans are constantly being mistreated. However, Gaye was seeking a peaceful solution. The
different language in both artists lyrics shows how language has developed over

Or, head south to Panama. Only a few miles from Puerto Viejo, you can cross into Panama and
stay several days in cabanas on the water, literally, at fantastic Boca del Toro.
Oh, one more thing. As you drive from Puerto Viejo towards Panama, you ll pass the very beach
where a certain Italian sea captain, a fellow called Columbus, dropped anchor 500 years back and
gave the land its name: Costa Rica.
While in Puerto Viejo, there is a superb little Costa Rica beach hotel, La Perla Negra. Strongly
recommended. No matter what your fancy, whether fishing, eco tourism, medical care mixed
with a great holiday, there is always a great Costa Rica vacation waiting for you.Posted in Airline

Equal Work Equal Pay
Equal work equal pay:
Women earn 77 cents to every dollar a man makes. The most common jobs/occupations in the
country are segregated by gender some examples are truck driving, construction worker,
firefighter nursing, and secretarial work. There are a few occupation that require a degree but
they are still heavily skewed towards men some examples would be law and medicine. The
reason is because women are more likely to do jobs that are similar to what they do at home and
in the olden days like taking care of the family and kids, keeping the inside the house clean and
teaching. Men are seen as the muscles more like construction and engineering.
When you go to the hospital and you hear the receptionist say the nurse will be with you shortly
you automatically think the nurse is a women but that s okay because in your mind you still see it
as it was back in the day just like if you hear construction worker you think male but there are some
women construction workers. Some of this is due to sexism however male dominated jobs actual
pay more than the female dominated jobs even they when they require the same training and skills.
The wage gape:
A few years ago three economists followed a group of MBA graduates from the school of
business at the university of Chicago they followed this group of students just to see the wage gap
they looked at thousands of students from 1990 2006 and the men that graduate made more money
right of business school women made an average

The Challenges And Consequences Of The Norman De Veres
PART ONE. The Norman De Veres Aubrey de Vere, Albericus de Vere, de Veer, the first Aubrey
de Vere, Aubrey the Monk, Chamberlain and Queen s Chamberlain Although it is often said that
the de Vere family came across with William at the time of the Conquest, it is more likely that
the de Vere family were in England as landowners from around 1000 AD, being related to the
Frankish knight, Godfroi de Vere and the Norman knight Alphonsus de Vere. This does not
preclude Albericus from being at the Battle of Hastings in 1066, as recounted by contemporary
historians, since many Norman knights gathered to William s standard from all around Europe.

of de Vere and St Mark of Venice.

headquarters at Hengham, now known as Hedingham, standing between two Roman roads and
close to the river. He built a motte and bailey castle a raised mound with wooden palisade
defences and a ditch surrounding it. A reconstructed castle of this type can be found near to

Analysis Of Clara Barton s Life
Introduction Clara Barton had many accomplishments throughout her life in all her endeavors. Her
story begins at a young age and continues into her career as a valuable individual saving lives as a
nurse. The accumulation of events and contributing factors that Barton experienced from her
childhood into her adult years shaped her into the nurse remembered in history and helped mold the
face of nursing for the future.
Background
Clara Barton is most notably remembered for her accomplishments, with the Red Cross and
nursing, however, her story begins years earlier when she was born December 25th, 1821 (Evans
2003). Barton was born to Stephen and Sarah Barton and grew up in New Oxford, Massachusetts.
Many of the experiences that Barton ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Barton not only became a teacher during a period where female teachers were rare, but she also
opened the first free public school in New Jersey. Though the school was not immediately
successful, it eventually took root and began to grow. It increased so much so that another school
had to be built. In 1854, Barton resigned from teaching and became one of the first women to be
employed by the federal government as a clerk at U.S Patent Office (Jones 2012).
In 1861 at the Baltimore riot, soldiers from the 6th Massachusetts infantry were attacked. Many
were wounded and killed. After hearing about the devastation, Barton left her work and went to
tend to those wounded (Jones 2012). Barton, who led by example, was able to build up a
volunteer network that lasted the entirety of the war. In March of 1865, Barton started the Office
of Correspondence with friends of the missing men in the United States Army. Barton, with the
help of volunteers, identified over 22,000 missing men. The searches for missing men led her to
assist in establishing a national cemetery, where they properly marked the graves of nearly 13,000
men (Gorlick 2002). Barton s great accomplishment with the war efforts gave her the opportunities
to speak throughout the Northwest and Midwest. After two years of traveling and speaking, Barton
retreated to Switzerland per doctors orders. While in Switzerland, Barton associated herself with the

spread of Religion. Along the Indian Ocean trade network, Islamwas spread. This happened through
Indian merchants who brought Brahmin priests, Arab merchants who brought Muslim scholars and
Christian merchants who brought priests. Along with the Islamic religioncame the 5 pillars which

From the Mediterranean, the Bubonic plague spread along the Indian Ocean and from the Indian
Ocean, it spread to China. As the Bubonic plague spread to China, it became very easy to keep
spreading along the Silk Road, and eventually hit Europe where the deadliest Black Death
occurred in 1347. This plague killed approximately 25 35 million people, which made up a third
of the human population. This whole thing began when the Mongols launched an attack on the
Italian merchant s last trading station in the region. Then in 1346, plague broke out among the
besiegers and from them entered into the town. Later attempting to flee the plague, the Italian
merchants fled to their ships, unknowingly carrying the diseases with them. The diseases were
also spread from place to place by fleas on rats, or other kinds of rodents who traveled along
these trade routes. The Indian Ocean and Silk Road are similar in that the Bubonic Plague spread
throughout both trade networks because since trade was very popular and happened all the time,
people unknowingly would catch the disease from one place, only to be spreading it to their next
stop, causing it to spread across the regions very

  • 2. Early Baroque Music Early Baroque Music The Baroque Period (1600 1750) was mainly a period of newly discovered ideas. From major new innovations in science, to vivid changes in geography, people were exploring more of the world around them. The music of the baroque period was just as extreme as the new changes. Newly recognized composers such as Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, and Monteverdi were writing entirely new musical ideas and giving a chance for new voices to be heard that were normally not thought of sounds. Their musical legacy is still recognized today, and is a treasured discovery of outstanding compositions being reiterated with every performance of them. • 3. Donald Glover s Remedial Chaos Theory The popular meme of Donald Glover walking into a room filled with chaos originally derives from the NBC s comedic sitcom, Community which aired from 2009 to 2015 ( Community ). During the episode that this scene is from, Remedial Chaos Theory , Troy and Abed host a housewarming party for their new apartment, inviting their study group. When the pizza arrives, Jeff decides to roll a die to decide who fetches it. According to Abed, this creates six possible timelines (in addition to the main timeline),, in which he imagines all of them with magnified creativity. Remedial Chaos Theory was highly received by Community fans, receiving a rating of 9.8 on the International Movie Database website ( Remedial Chaos Theory ). Overall, this specific episode continues the show s parodical sitcom style with alternating timelines, while further elaborating on the characterization of the study group, creating an entertaining episode. Despite alternating the timeline... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For instance, in almost every sequence, Pierce gives or attempts to give his house warming gift to Troy. However, there are different outcomes in each of the timelines. During one timeline, he tortures and taunts Troy with his gift of a creepy, Norwegian troll doll, while in another timeline he makes the decision to throw the gift away, neglecting his initial intentions of seeking vengeance. This displays the subtle differences that one minor change, a different person going to fetch the pizza, makes in the study group. One sequenceemphasizes Pierce s hateful and vengeful side, while another shows he s capable of feeling empathy and regret. In a confession to an undercover RCMP officer in British Columbia, posing as a mob boss, it is clamed that Burns was a contract killer hired by Rafay to kill his parents so that Rafay could get insurance money for their deaths. It is claimed that Burns beat the victims with a baseball bat while Rafay watched (para.10). They threw their cloths away and took a bath to wash away the blood. The extradition was nullified on a 2 1 decision by the British Columbia Court of Appeal. The Minister of Justice appealed the British Columbia Court of Appeal s decision to nullify the extradition without assurances to the Supreme Court of Canada. The Supreme Court of Canada s Decision The Supreme Court of Canada (SCC) said in regards to the section 12 of the charter claim, that in R. v. Schmidt, Judge La Forest J. concluded that the charter cannot be used to govern how criminal proceedings in a foreign country are to be conducted (para.51) and therefore the respondents section 12 charter claim was rejected.. However, the SCC decided that s.7 of the charter was relevant to the case, and made their decision based on the interpretation of s. 7. The SCC found that s.7 evidently was the real issue they had to deal with (para.31). The minister in this case, depended on the courts agreeing that the precedent in Kindler and Ng applied to this case. In Kindler and Ng the courts allowed for the accused to be extradited without assurances by the Minister of Justice. In Kindler, the courts decided that each extradition case, where convictions could result in the death penalty, each hearing should be reviewed on a case by case basis known as the balancing process (para.65). • 6. The Concept of Sales Promotion The Impact of Sales Promotions Increasing Revenue at 7 Eleven Stores in Singapore Introduction Profit maximization has since time immemorial been the ultimate goal of every business. This can be realized by increasing the sales volume. In order to achieve this goal, businesses may employ various different methods some of which are direct while others are indirect (Rizvi,Nazi Malik,2011). Sales promotion is one of these methods and it is roughly defined as a diverse collection of effective incentive tools that are mainly used in the short term in order to stimulate a quicker as well as greater purchase of specific products or services by customers as noted by Kotler (1998). Advertisement expenditure grew by 4% between 2004 and 2005 in Singapore (Ang,2007). In this paper, we propose a research aimed at investigating the effectiveness of promotion activities in increasing sales at 7 Eleven stores in Singapore. Problem statement The concept of sales promotion is often employed in grocery retailing and therefore takes up a considerable share of financial resources that retailers spend on their marketing initiatives (Persson,1995,p.5).The popularity of sale promotion application has of late became a source of inquiry by both retailers and product manufacturers. Despite the huge sums of money spend annually on sales and promotions, the economics and dynamics of sales promotions are poorly understood. As a result, there is a significantly huge knowledge gap to be filled. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The two major parties have defiantly changed their original platforms as time has gone on, but they have each gained voters for their beliefs. Though the parties have changed over the years, they have also each had recurrent patterns in history. The Democratic and Republican parties are the two major parties in the United States, and they have many intricate ways of how they came to be what they are today. In 1492, political government first began when Christopher Columbus discovered the America s. The Europeans were the first to have control of the land and ran it on their beliefs. In A Very Short Introduction, Paul S. Boyer says, English colonists were self governed and ran their land on Christian belief . The Democratic Republican Party believed in a loose, decentralized, democratic government. It was created to stand up against the Federalists party who supported and pushed through the ratification of the United States Constitution. • 11. Economic Platform For The Philippines Economic Platform for the Philippines economic growth in the trade sector Brooks (2014) states that in 2008, the entire Southeast Asian economy received roughly less than half as much foreign direct investment as China did. Four years later, they pulled to within spitting distance. Why is there a sudden surge of international interest in this particular region? It is because ASEAN s five core countries Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand have been growing faster than any other regional grouping in the world over the past 5 years, with Philippines standing out in particular because of its impressive 6.6% economic growth rate as of 2012. The Philippines is now one of the fastest growing economies in Southeast Asia, going from a developing market to what is considered now as an emerging market in a global scale because of the competency of trade in the Philippines. To properly define trade, it is a basic economic concept that involves multiple parties participating in the voluntary negotiation and then the exchange of one s goods and services for desired goods and services that someone else possesses (Trade, 2003). Trade has been occurring around the world for centuries and the purpose of it is to address the problem of coincidence of wants. Generally, there are two forms of trade: Foreign and Domestic Trade. • 12. Invisible Man Comparative Essay Their Eyes Were Watching God and Invisible Man Essay Life has never been easy for African Americans. Since this country s formation, the African American culture has been scorned, disrespected and degraded. It wasn t until the middle of the 21st century that African American culture began to be looked upon in a more tolerant light. This shift came about because of the many talented African American writers, actors, speakers and activists who worked so hard to gain respect for themselves and their culture. Two writers were on the front lines of this movement, Zora Neale Hurston and Ralph Ellison. Their novels, Invisible Man and Their Eyes Were Watching God, probed deeply into the life and culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the end of each novel, neither Janie nor Invisible Man are as happy as they d like to be. But, both novels focus not on the bittersweet end, but rather what the characters learned before they reached the end. Janie realized that her strength was in herself and her pride, with or without Tea Cake. And Invisible Man realized that quot;My problem was that I always tried to go in everyone s way but my own quot; (pg. 573), and so took to hibernation, to quot;shake off the old skin quot; and start living a life he could be proud of. quot; In the end, despite some dissatisfaction, both characters knew who they were and how to pursue the happiness they craved. By using these two themes, both Hurston and Ellison took a dramatic leap of faith. These themes add the uniqueness and non conformism of the stories themselves. Neither Hurston nor Ellison hid any part of their culture to be politically correct; this fact is especially visible in the authors use of diction in their novels. In Their Eyes Were Watching God, Hurston employs slang and colloquial language throughout the novel. In fact, almost half of the novel is in this form. • 13. Effective Communication And Effective Communication Effective Communication is vital in health and social care context. It enables us to develop good relationships with the service users and to anyone that is involved within health and social care organisation (Grove, 2012). As a new care worker, I was asked to shadow my co worker at work. The service user is Mrs. M., a 60 yr. old female diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy (MD), she gets easily frustrated and anxious due to her difficulty in communicating verbally. Though I was slightly nervous, I was relaxed and has a smile on my face when I knock on her door. I said, Good evening, Ms. M, may I come in? I waited for her reply. She looked at me, smiled and nodded. So, I went inside and said, Thank you . In this scenario, I applied the humanistic theory based on Carl Roger s Person Centred Approached (1902 1987) that states that having an environment that provides substance, acceptance and empathy helps the person to reach their true potentials (Rogers, 1977). My role as a care worker is to engage in a manner that promotes individual respect (Alzheimer s Society, 2011). The benefits of this method are clear through the polite and professional conversation I had with the service user. Mrs. M felt empowered when the manner of communication we had given her the feeling of being in controlled of her environment. Arranged marriages were the way things were run in order to bring two families together. The two families hopes were to gain an alliance and more importantly gain wealth. Another objective was producing offspring more specifically boys that could eventually inherit the familywealth and power. Although there were many positives with arrange marriage, there were also a numerous amount of negatives with this lifestyle. Arranged marriagewas a complicated business. The girls were usually anywhere from fourteen to seventeen years of age with a difference of fifteen to twenty years to their husbands or even greater if it were his second marriage. Girls were young because with they way society worked they wanted the girls to be able to produce as many children as possible. The goal was to have the young girl pregnant every other year until she was done ovulating. This data was collected between January 11 to March 31, 2016. The support provided by my family, Dr. Wilcox, my 694 Reading ResearchPracticum fellow student, and my selected critical colleague allowed me to successfully complete my data collection, my analysis, and my report. Educational Research Research, educational and action, are key to the continued improvement of educational methodologies and strategies. • 27. Personal Identity, Ethics, Relation, And Rationality Parfit Student Name University Affiliation Course Code Derik Parfit is a philosopher from Britain who concentrates on issues of personal identity, ethics, relation and rationality. Parfit is of the argument that unless questions about identity are dealt with then it is not possible to tackle specific crucial questions like memory, responsibility and matters as survival. Personal identity is important as it helps in addressing certain vital questions. According to Parfit, survival does not require maintaining or preserving of identity but it is a common relation that needs pursuing apart from identity and the relation consider are those that deals with intentions and memory. Parfit argues that survival is a matter of degree unlike identity. In his argument he aimed at differentiating between identity and matters of survival. As for survival, whereby in his view it is possible for a person to survive as two, the original person s relation to that of each of resulting people is of great concern as it creates a sense in which a single person can survive as two. He assumes that if one s brain is divided into two and planted into new bodies; both resulting persons will possess the original person s character and memories of his life. On the other hand, as for identity it is a one one (is all or nothing) relation but matters in survival need not be one one. Everyone gets these kinds of thoughts whether we realize it or not and for some people they occur more often than others. A simple example of this is someone who fails at one thing and then thinks or believes that they are failure at everything. Some of these thoughts may be much more subtle but still have a huge effect on us and our thought process. Automatic Negative Thought Another negative thought(s) I find myself having often is not being good enough. This is something that I usually find myself thinking a lot about after an altercation or disagreement with someone. There have been a few instances in my life when I m put in a position where someone I care for picks someone else over me, this being both emotional and not. It has a wide variety of functions from protein synthesis from blood, to production of biochemical s necessary for digestion, and to detoxification of blood. The liver is essential for survival and there is no way to compensate for the absence of liverfunction. The liver is a multiple lobed organ that is in the front part of the abdominal cavity. It is positioned directly behind the diaphragm and in front of the stomach. It is situated straight across the front of the abdomen, with more of the liver on the right side. • 37. Pontius Pilate As A Neutral Figure Many critics argue that Pontius Pilate was either a positive or negative figure; I am going to argue that he was a neutral figure based on his actions in regards to Jesus s trial, his attempt at getting Jesus released, and his absolution and refusal in regards to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Mark Powell from bibleodyssey.org has a very different stance than I do. He argues that Pilate condemned Jesusto death and had him tortured and crucified . The story of Jesus s trial and crucifixion was told in all four of the Gospels and all of the stories vary in some manner. John 18 and 19 as well as Luke 23 show different sides of Pilate and the dilemma he faced with this situation. There is also a historical context that must be taken into consideration to truly understand Pilate s position with regards to the trial and crucifixion.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The duties that came with this position included everything from collecting taxes to maintaining law and order among the people (Biography.com). In Matthew 27, Pilate questioned Jesus but did not formally accuse or charge him. Jesus silence towards the accusations levied against him instead brought Pilate amazement. In the Gospel of Luke 23:4, 13 15 Pilate finds no guilt in Jesus so he sends him to King Herod. King Herod also finds no guilt in Jesus so he sends him back to Pilate who once again declares that he has not found this man guilty of any of your charges against him. Looking at the multitude of texts surrounding the trial of Jesus Christ, it would seem that Pilate was judging on neutral ground and doing his duty to the best of his ... Wicca, Akash The 5th Element Spirit In Wicca, Akasha is the name given to the 5th Element also known as Spirit, not the human Spirit, but in this context, Spirit as the source of all energy, the universal forces, all that is. The word Akasha itself is a Sanskrit word for Aether meaning clear sky or pure air. This must not be confused by the chemical substance ether . Is interesting to know that in Alchemy, Aether unlike other elements didn t have a definite symbol and it was normally and unofficially represented by a circle. Doing this research not only allowed me to learn about a definition of the word Akasha, it led me to realize what it REALLY means and also the meaning of each Element as a representation of the physical, spiritual and emotional attribute of every process that occurs in nature as well as within. We are interconnected and all happens in and through Akasha. So, if we consider the above statement, then we have a big responsibility towards nature and ourselves, therefore we need to learn to understand and control the elements. What I mean by controlling the elements is that by understanding the 3 aspects of the elements, how they manifest within us and around us, we can achieve balance, through our daily practice, rituals, connecting with nature and our emotional estate. For example if Communication is one of the emotional aspect of the Element Air and we know that we struggle to communicate with our partners or there s lack of communication with our spouses or we find it difficult to express ourselves to get a message across to them... then we should work with that Element on that area in order to achieve balance in that Element within ... One night Mr. Jones got drunk and forgot to feed the animals. In this story the animals are given human like abilities suck as speaking English. The unambiguous truth of the matter is that Old Major, plays a significant part in the play because after he passes away the other animals come together to fulfill his goal of a revolution. The first point to consider is, Old Major affects the action that takes place in the book by his ability to persuade the other animals to share his indignation. Although he does not appear often, he plays one of the most important roles. After Mr. Jones passes away the animals have the ambition to rebel and the revolution begins. They begin to clandestinely plan out their rebellion. The environment of where a person was raised is another leading cause of crime. When someone grows up in a place where they see all these bad things happening in their society it serves as a role model to them and they adapt other people s actions. Growing up in a household where somebody does not have parents or a guardian telling them what is right from wrong leads you to do the unthinkable because they do not have any family direction showing you the right way to live life. One of the most important environmental factors during childhood development is that of socialization or the way a child is taught how to act (Chemistry Web) Lack of faith causes a person to think of violence as their only way to get attention. When someone has no religious values, they think of all the bad things that are bothering them instead of the good that they can bring into their life. • 46. Equal Work Equal Pay Equal work equal pay: Women earn 77 cents to every dollar a man makes. The most common jobs/occupations in the country are segregated by gender some examples are truck driving, construction worker, firefighter nursing, and secretarial work. There are a few occupation that require a degree but they are still heavily skewed towards men some examples would be law and medicine. The reason is because women are more likely to do jobs that are similar to what they do at home and in the olden days like taking care of the family and kids, keeping the inside the house clean and teaching. Men are seen as the muscles more like construction and engineering. When you go to the hospital and you hear the receptionist say the nurse will be with you shortly you automatically think the nurse is a women but that s okay because in your mind you still see it as it was back in the day just like if you hear construction worker you think male but there are some women construction workers. Some of this is due to sexism however male dominated jobs actual pay more than the female dominated jobs even they when they require the same training and skills. The wage gape: A few years ago three economists followed a group of MBA graduates from the school of business at the university of Chicago they followed this group of students just to see the wage gap they looked at thousands of students from 1990 2006 and the men that graduate made more money right of business school women made an average ... This does not preclude Albericus from being at the Battle of Hastings in 1066, as recounted by contemporary historians, since many Norman knights gathered to William s standard from all around Europe. Though the school was not immediately successful, it eventually took root and began to grow. It increased so much so that another school had to be built. In 1854, Barton resigned from teaching and became one of the first women to be employed by the federal government as a clerk at U.S Patent Office (Jones 2012). In 1861 at the Baltimore riot, soldiers from the 6th Massachusetts infantry were attacked. Many were wounded and killed. After hearing about the devastation, Barton left her work and went to tend to those wounded (Jones 2012). This plague killed approximately 25 35 million people, which made up a third of the human population. This whole thing began when the Mongols launched an attack on the Italian merchant s last trading station in the region. Then in 1346, plague broke out among the besiegers and from them entered into the town. Later attempting to flee the plague, the Italian merchants fled to their ships, unknowingly carrying the diseases with them. The diseases were also spread from place to place by fleas on rats, or other kinds of rodents who traveled along these trade routes. The Indian Ocean and Silk Road are similar in that the Bubonic Plague spread throughout both trade networks because since trade was very popular and happened all the time, people unknowingly would catch the disease from one place, only to be spreading it to their next stop, causing it to spread across the regions very ...
