Shoes For High School
Three years ago, I started my journey to provide shoes for the fifth graders attending the J.B. Sutton
Elementary School. Now, three schools in the same school district were given shoes for their fifth
grade students. However, if an individual would have told the fifteen year old me that one day this
would be happening, I would have laughed because the challenges of providing shoes for one school
were astronomical. It would entail that the shoe committee would need to raise $4,000, measure
around 300 feet, and find a way to deliver all of the shoes to the children. Other challenges that arose
over the years were the schools administration changing frequently and having to explain what our
mission was and why we were providing the shoes. Furthermore, another dilemma was that the fifth
grade students were regularly be absent, suspended, or relocate to a different school district, which
inhibited the team from garnering proper shoe sizes and totals. Another exceedingly oppressing
obstacle our team would face was dealing with a student who was wearing a shoe that was undersized.
For instance, our compassion would compel us to ask why the child wasn t wearing the proper shoe
size and they would answer with chagrin because it would be due to their parents not being able to buy

Hope is the sole reason as to why we provide the shoes because the hope that one pair of shoes gives
these kids is capable of changing their lives. Furthermore, this hope acts a catalyst that enables them to

emphasize that somebody outside of their community cares for them. Moreover, the bounty is not the

Theseus And Palamon
Theseus, the leader of Athens, is going down a road and he sees four women crying on their knees. He
asks them why they are crying and they say that their husbands were killed at the siege of Thebes and
Creon, ruler of Thebes, would not let their husband s remains be recovered from the field (912 951).
He heard this and was so emotionally moved that he decided to march on Thebes and take back their
bodies. He lead his army to Thebes and captured Thebes. After the battle he saw two men from Thebes
who were barely alive named Arcite and Palamon. Theseus took them to his tent and had them healed
but they were confined to a prison in Athens after Theseus withdrew from Thebes. While in the tower
Palamon was pacing around his cell and he saw Emelye

Black Elk Speaks by John Neihardt
Black Elk Speaks, a personal narrative, has the features of many different genres. The different genres
that I noticed were in the book were, autobiography, testimonial, tribal history, and elegy. Black Elk
Speaks is divided into 25 chapters, which portray the early life of Black Elk. The author tells us that
Black Elk was a healer and a great holy man. He was said to have this mystical vision since he was
young. As a tribal history, it shows the change of the Sioux nation from pre reservation to reservation
culture, including their partaking in the ghost dance, the Battle of Little Big Horn, and Wounded Knee.
Black Elk Speaks propositions testament to the price in human grief that the Sioux had to pay for the
United States expanding westward. It grieves his cultural misplacement and the age of being innocent
and being free.
Black lk Speaks is framed with a preace and Author s postscript. This reminds the readers of an
editing presence. Neihardt explains the circumstances, when he talked to black elk. Initial to the
description of the great vision are chapters 1 and 2. The actual great vision is mentioned in chapter 3.
Chapter 3 was definidtly the longest and the hardest to understand in the book. Chapter 3 was about
Black Elk and his confisence in the author, Neihardt, and it also describes the first couple years in
Black Elks younger days. This includes the first time he heard voices when he was five. It also
describes the vision Black Elk saw when he was 5. Highly

Confidence is a key of success in life and business. Confidence is that people believe themselves in a

Republican Party Research Paper
As many American Liberals have noticed the Democratic Party, supposedly their party, has been
losing big electorally. The presidency, the majority of state governorships, both houses of congress
and the majority of state assemblies have been lost by the Democrats to the Republican Party. This has
left many Democratic citizens wondering, what happened? Why did their party suddenly fall from
favor with the voting public? Though I do not hold myself out as having a definitive answer I do have
a hunch as to why the Democrats have been losing big at the polls. And fair warning, though I will try
to keep this as neutral as possible political biases do have a pesky way of sneaking into these things.

by Donald Trump is appealing to confirmation bias, which my inner philosophy minor reminds me is a
logical fallacy. Nevertheless it works and Trump won far more support than anyone predicted he
would. This tactic is one that is commonly used by marketers to elicit a particular behavior from
groups of people and it transfers over seamlessly to the political realm. The legal and academic
argumentation techniques used by the Democrats were never meant to be used to elicit any behavior as
such it comes as no surprise that they don t transfer over to politics nearly as

celebrations wherein food brings people together. They celebrate Christmas, Quinceneras (when a girl

They want their kids abdomen to appear full, which implies looking healthy. In my opinion, this belief
may interfere with health promotion because it conflicts with what health advocates consider healthy
or unhealthy. When asked if there are any enzyme deficiencies or food intolerances commonly
experienced with their culture, Estella and Betty said that there is no common food intolerance that
they are familiar with. Lactose intolerance is not common in their group, but a gastrointestinal
problem, such as gastritis, is common because most of the dishes are spicy. Here in California, there
are several Mexican supermarkets that offer almost all of the basic and essential products in making or
preparing the dishes common for this culture. This is an advantage for Mexicans that reside here in
California. The interviewees also mentioned that in other states, Mexican food products are scarce
making it difficult for some of them to prepare the meals that they are used to eating. Having learned
about the common food and dietary practices in the Mexican culture, it seems quite challenging to
teach dietary adjustments, especially if they are used to cooking and eating the same type of food for
many years. My approach to this will be to suggest making slight variations or modifications on
ingredients or food preparation methods, instead of teaching them to avoid eating a certain type of
dish altogether. If the patient has coronary artery

The On The Beauty Of Lionfish
Lionfish come with red, maroon or brown stripes and specks on their body and flashy fins. Their
beautiful long fins flowing gracefully in the water and dramatic colors are fascinating and inspiring.
No doubt lionfish are one of popular aquarium fishes as well as painting subjects. As my final project,
I want to create a captivating image, while enjoying exploration of the beauty and details of lionfish.
For the underwater backdrop, I want to suggest a coral reef environment. A solid or simple blue
underwater backdrop would be sufficient to show the beauty of lionfish, but it is too plain for my
taste. I decide to paint underwater ripples along with a brain coral. The challenge is creating a
background that doesn t compete against the flamboyant and colorful lionfish, yet adds enough
interest to the viewer s eye.
Palette : new gamboge, quinacridone gold, phthalo green, cobalt turquoise, phthalo blue, ultramarine
blue, Prussian blue, indigo, burnt sienna, brown madder, magenta, purple

none of them has a perfect form of their fins. After I select one which has a good body shape, I alter
the imperfect fin shapes. Once I finalize the shapes of the fins, I draw the details of stripes on the body
and fins. I also pay close attention to fin rays and specks. When I finish working on the lionfish, I

American Intervention, Chile, And Augusto Pinochet
American Intervention, Chile, Augusto Pinochet After World War II, the United States emerged as a
world power. However, with this new power and hegemony status, came the threat of being overtaken
and being replaced as the dominant nation. One threat that the United States faced was the rise of
Communism. The US feared the spread of Communism in other nations, even in Latin America. One
country where the US intervened to stop the spread of Communism is Chile. In 1970, Salvador
Allende, a Marxist and a member of a joint Communist Socialist coalition, was elected to the
presidency over the incumbent Eduardo Frei, who had the support of the US. Since the US was
already facing tough economic competitors in the 1970s, along with the Vietnam ... Show more

It was what the US was waiting for. The time had come to make other nations take notice. In response
to all of the rising tensions, the US established the Monroe Doctrine in 1823. It established neutrality
of the US in terms of European foreign policy affairs, but at the same time, prohibited the European
countries from colonizing any regions in the Western Hemisphere and stated, any attempt on their part
to extend their system to any portion of this hemisphere as dangerous to our peace and safety (Hastedt,
12). At the time, many nations in the Europe either dismissed or did take notice of the importance of
this decree by the United States. With this official document, the national interest of the US was made
clear, but it would not have to be enforced and modified until almost a century later (Nester, 86 87).
Another way the United States protected its interests in the international system was through the
Roosevelt Corollary. This addition to the Monroe Doctrine established the power of the US to police
nations in the Western Hemisphere, especially when the governments, or heads of power, of these
nations are not able to maintain order (Hastedt, 12). Through this amendment of the doctrine, the US
was given a bigger sphere of influence in Latin America, and ultimately, the world. These acts of
intervention in other countries were implemented through the use of the military and economic
resources and it was

Ivan Ilych
After the reading the book of the The Death of Ivan Ilych by Leo Tolstoy the reader can conclude that
not everyone lives a happy life. People can go from being happy to sad in just an instant. This story
teaches the reader that not everyone is going to be there in the hard moments, only those who truly
appreciate and understand the person in pain will be there supporting. Leo Tolstoy was very up
forward on his stories. He usually did not watch what he said. Many people might say his theme and
characters role are affected by the life he lived. Every character has their own role and meaning. For
example, those who have read any background of Tolstoy can say that he is very similar to Ivan Ilych.

Most people use lie to cover more lies but Peter was a character who didn t care about lying. He
symbolizes false because he was one to lie with no problem or remorse. Peter preferred to lie other
than facing the consequences. If someone knew Ivan Ilych it was Peter although most of the time he
put himself before everyone else, he actually knew Ivan really well. Peter is not the kind of best friend
people want because he would be backstabbing everyone all the time. He would make himself look in
front of people and say what people want to hear in front of everyone. A quote from the novella that
explains how fake peter was is when the narrator says, Praskovya Fedorovna recognizing Peter
Ivanovich, sighed, went close up to him, took his hand, and said: I know you were a true friend to Ivan
Ilych . . . and looked at him awaiting some suitable response. This quote explains how people were
starting to realize how fake of a friend Peter was to Ivan. This concludes that people are not always
who others may think they are. As in for Peter Ivanovich he is one of the worst traders a person could
have as a friend. His last name Ivanovich stands for Ivan s son. That is why maybe he was relieved
when Ivan Ilych dies because he is truly tired of living under his shadow. Peter was a false person

Essay about The 2008 Financial Crisis
Have banks responded to the public accusation that the 2008 financial crisis was caused by a crisis of
character in their industry by actively seeking candidates of integrity and character?
There are two components to this research question: The first draws on strategic management research
and the notion of organizational legitimacy and to what degree organizations operationally respond to
public opinion; the second is the concept of character, what it means, how it is conceptualized,
measured and operationalised through the selection of new employees. I hypothesize that, since
September 2008, banks:
1. have changed the qualities they seek in employee candidates;
2. and are now actively seeking candidates with higher levels of ... Show more content on

National Public Radio (NPR) in the US has suggested there is moral rot on Wall Street. In all, an acute
level of pressure has befallen the global banking industry, shining a bright spotlight on the role of
ethics, integrity and character in organizations.
And rightly so. The benefits of hiring and training employees with character and ethics have been
shown to relate at an individual level to well being (Park, Peterson Seligman 2004), and at an
organizational level to performance and leadership success (Sarros Cooper 2006). Ethics also aids in
retaining employees (McDaniel, Organizational Ethics: Research and Ethical Environments, 2004),
which is increasingly business critical as the war for talent intensifies (Michaels, Handfield Jones,
Axelrod, War for Talent, Harvard Business School Press, McKinzie Co, 2001). McDaniel suggests
leaders have two ways to instil ethics in their firms the selection method and the training method.
However, Beer (1998) asserts that selection is really the only reliable method for finding employees

Ethiopian Cultural Identity
1. What is your chosen group background? What has it meant to belong to this group? As you know, I
am Ethiopian. I was born and raised in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia. I belong to the Ethiopian community
not only in Ethiopia, but also here in America. Finding Ethiopian friends who share the same interest
as me, understand their culture, practice their languages, and have interest in returning back to
Ethiopia someday, has always been a struggle for me. Most of the Ethiopians who I meet are
Americanized. When I was studying at NIU, I was blessed to have a small circle of Ethiopians who
grew up there. Spending time with me made me feel secure, like I actually belonged. Lucky for me, I
am also a part of the African community. There are 53 countries in Africa; however, there is an
unbreakable bond that is seen amongst Africans around the world. We share the same identity and
have the upmost love and respect for our continent and the people still living there. 2. Where did you
grow up and what other groups resided there? How did this early personal history influence your
beliefs of others I lived in Ethiopia for quite some time before given a chance to move to America.
When I arrived in America, the only people that were around me were Caucasians. They did not look

classmates because they spoke clear English, they had cars to get them to and from school, and they

Social Hierarchies In Ancient Mesopotamia
The main social hierarchies in ancient Mesopotamian societies tended to be very similar. In general,
everything revolved around the King and the upper class such as, priests, scribes, merchants and
artisans, and the majority of society consisted of commoners and slaves, whose way of life revolved
around farming. For example, The Code of Hammurabi, law 15 states, If a man should enable a palace
slave, a palace slave woman, a commoner s slave, or a commoner s slave woman to leave through the
main city gates, he shall be killed (p. 19). Another great example is Law 112 that posits, If a merchant
should give silver to a trading agent for an investment venture, and he incurs a loss on his journeys, he
shall return silver to the merchant in the amount of the capital sum (p. 20). It is also important to note

or gives into debt service his wife, his son, or his daughter, they shall perform service in the house of
their buyer or of the one who holds them in debt service for three years; their release shall be secured
in the fourth year (p. 20). If the father wanted to disinherit child, they had to prove evidence of
behavior and bring it before the judges. Law 169 describes this process, If he should be guilty of a
grave offense deserving the penalty of disinheritance by his father, they shall pardon him for his first
one; if he should commit a grave offense a second time, the father may disinherit his son (p. 22). This
method provided women and their children a little protection from societies

Identify And Explain The Factors That Cause Changes In...
The three factors that caused Galetown to have more severe rainstrorms this summer than in previous
years are stronger winds, higher temperature and the new lake. First of all, stronger winds push the air
parcels (An amount of air that moves as a unit) higher up in the troposphere. The higher the air parcel
is in the troposphere, the colder it is. This will cause a greater energy transfer from the parcel to the
surrounding air allowing them to become the same temperature and having condensation occurs. This
will soon fall out as rain. In the chart, it tells us that in storms 3 and 4 that all factors are the same
before the storm such as the surface water (high) and the temperatures are close enough to not make a
significant difference. But the wind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When the air parcel rises in the troposphere, the more energy transfer. The reason why the energy
transfers is because the water vapor must have an equivalent temp to the surrounding air. More energy
causes it to have more evaporation transferring more water vapor to the surrounding air. As the energy
transfer occurs, the water vapor gets through condensation and turns to liquid water. The higher the
parcel gets, the colder it is in the surrounding air which causes the water to condense and come out as
rain. This is important because when the temperature of the air parcel is higher, it will rise higher in
the troposphere and the higher the cloud is in the troposphere, the more rain that will fall. Also, the
modeling tool tells us that storms 2 and 3 had all the same factors ( water vapor, troposphere
temperature and surface water) but, the parcel temperature, was higher in storm 3 which caused it to
have more rain. Lastly, the reason why the weather has been acting up is the new lake. The lake is
causing more evaporation (the process by which a liquid changes into a gas). This is important
because the more evaporation there is, the more condensation (the process by which a gas changes

Happy New Year! Lim, Zelda and Mateo were having a celebration as it was New Year s Eve, 2241,
and they were meeting up at Mateo s house. When they had all had something to eat and drink they
decided to put the TV on to watch some of the annual rocket and boulder race. Lim turned the TV on
to Star channel. All of a sudden, there became an urgent news bulletin at the bottom of the TV which
said, DANGER in big red letters. The newsreader looked horrified and bewildered, he looked like he
had seen a ghost. The bulletin said that there was a meteorite coming to hit planet Earth. When all
three boys saw the bulletin they looked at each other with stunned faces. What was going to happen to
planet Earth?
After very little sleep, the next morning Mateo quickly switched on the TV to see what the update was
about the meteorite. When the Star News came up there was a journalist talking to four scientists
about their discovery of the ... meteorite. The scientists idea ...... was to put a laser beam around Earth.

Effetiveness of Leadership and Management Development Is...
Introduction
The aim of this report is to use key elements of the management development cycle to evaluate
critically the claim that the effectiveness of leadership and management development is dependent on
the organisational strategy. In this case, the report provides a clear discourse on the reasons the
effectiveness of leadership and management development must be aligned to organisational strategy.
Therefore, the primary objective of this report is to argue that for leadership and management
development to be effective, they must be aligned with an organisational strategy. The report is
divided into three sections. The first section is about introduction. The second section is the body of
the report containing subsections. In this case, the subsections include definitions, objective and
purpose of the leadership and management development, effectiveness of leadership and management
development and its link to performance, leadership as a strategic process, talent management and its
link to management development cycle, performance measurement and assessment, and training and
development activities as parts of leadership and management development. The last section includes
a summary and conclusion of the report. It gives a recap of what is discussed in the report; it supports
the argument that to be effective, leadership and management development must be aligned with
organisational strategy.

Psalm 114 Essay
Psalm 114 is a praise psalm. This psalm functions to unite Israel in their shared history as a people
who God had provided for when they relied on him. Wherever Israel was during the composing of this
particular psalm, they likely needed to be reminded of such things as God s faithfulness. It may be that
because of this psalm s emphasis on God s dominance of the earth that there was a famine or a long
winter Israel had to endure. Whatever their situation, this psalm praises God s presence, providence,
and control over the earth.

Judah was the told by his father, The scepter shall not pass from Judah (Genesis 49: 8 12). Therefore,
Judah (David was of his lineage) has been the place of rule. The place of rule in the second verse here

dominion. Thus rather than speaking of a king or other ruler, God is the one who rules.
Verse 3 4
The sea, the Jordan, the mountains, and the hills are all personified as turning back and taking flight.
This is to highlight the incredible nature of the event, as well as poetically describe exactly what

Why I Am A Motor Skill
When observing Presley, with her body size you noticed she is larger than the other children around

is two years old and if fully walking. Under the gross motor skill, the third element in the dynamic
system; practice unbalanced, wide legged, short strides become steady, smooth gait, Presley was
surpassed that stage. She walked with her arms down, not out, and legs were close together. The other
children around her seemed to be in the practice phase. One fine motor skill I noticed was a mouth
skill, pronunciation. Her words were clear, making it easier to understand what she asked for or
talking in general. She said zapatoes , which is a spanish word for shoes and was said clearly and
understood. Presley grasping was more focused on toys, while I was there she did not get into any
altercations(pulling hair/biting) with the other children. Because Presley is two years old, I noticed
more Tertiary Circular Reactions, rather than primary/secondary circular reaction. For an example of
stage six, when Presley was trying to put the shorts on the doll, she placed the doll on the on the table
and when she tried to put the shorts on the doll would slide forward, making it difficult for her to get
the shorts on. She had others around her and did not ask for help, until another

The Theme of Death in Romeo and Juliet
Romeo Juliet is one of the most famous and enjoyed literary pieces of all time. The play is written by
the playwright William Shakespeare and it conveys the tragic love story of two star cross d lovers with
a remarkably beautiful language. The play, since it s a tragedy is permeated by death and all the main
characters feel the impact of death either by dying, or witnessing deaths. Throughout the play the
reader is able to identify two types of death; death by suicide and death by homicide. A conscientious
reader can as well realize that Romeo catalyzes all these deaths.
Death by suicide is exemplified by the death of Romeo and Juliet. In order to analyze the subtheme of
suicide Shakespeare s intentions in making the two kill ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Romeo although he has good intensions, acts as the catalyst in all the deaths in the play. The first
person to die is Mercutio. During the duel Romeo shields Mercutio and attempts to protect him.
Nevertheless, he only hinders Mercutio s movements and facilitates Tybalt s. Why the devil came you
between us? I was hurt under your arm says Mercutio and pins his death on Romeo. Then, Romeo
kills Tybalt to revenge Mercutio. This impetuous action flares the feud further, and causes Romeo to
be exiled from Verona. The grief generated by Romeo s banishment kills Lady Montague. Another
death that is caused by Romeo is Paris . Paris prejudges Romeo as a Montague, and believes that he is
visiting the tombs to do a villainous shame . They duel, and he is slaughtered by Romeo. Paris death
echoes that of Tybalt in terms of motive that flares the duels which is basically bias. The penultimate
death is Romeo s own. Romeo, herein, is extremely impulsive and refuses to ponder about not killing
himself. The reader can not help but think that he would have been alive if he waited. His suicide does
not only kill himself, but also drives Juliet to kill herself which is the last death that Romeo causes.
In conclusion, the tragedy Romeo Juliet is rendered a tragedy by the suicidal and homicidal deaths of
the main characters. Consequently Mercutio, Tybalt, Lady Montague, Paris, Romeo and Juliet die in
the play, and Romeo has a massive provocative effect on each and

therefore, they must focus on providing a fun environment for the players that do decide to play for
them. I really enjoyed this experience because it made me want to branch out and gain as much
experience as I can. Coach Smith started right where I am at and is currently in the process of working
his way up through the ranks, hoping to reach the division one level eventually. As he pushed his way

IOM Impact On Nursing
Professional Development for Nursing Professionals: Impact of IOM 2010 on Nursing In October of
2010, the Institute of Medicine issued a report with recommendations that would change the future of
healthcare. This report outlines recommendations to achieve success in the future of nursing and
healthcare. Empowering nurses, requiring higher education, promoting health care partners, and
effective planning and policy making form the backbone for this report. With the Affordable Care Act,
opening healthcare to millions of people, primary care physicians would be overwhelmed with patient
care. IOM suggested the transformation of nursing to fill the gap and provide quality patient care.
Nurses were called to accept a greater role in the healthcare of America. Innovative technologies,
aging population, and health care reorganization would make it is necessary to empower nurses who
are critical to healthcare, therefore impacting the future of nursing and the quality of healthcare.

Getting Divorced? Know About All The Associated Tax Deduction You Can Take
Getting a divorce can be an expensive process, but know that those costs will not necessarily cost you
their face value. It s possible to benefit from some tax deductions because of a divorce, which could
get you some of that money back.
Alimony
Are you the one that is giving alimony payments to your former spouse? If so, know that you are able
to deduct those alimony payments when filing your taxes. The main thing to know is that only court
ordered alimony payments are considered a deduction on your taxes, and those payments must be
made in cash. If you give your spouse something that is worth the value of the alimony payment, you

deduction.
Alimony Fees
For those on the receiving end of alimony, you will have to claim that income as taxable income.
Thankfully, you can also deduct any fees that are related to your alimony payments. For instance, if
you met with a lawyer for an alimony hearing in court, then you can deduct legal fees related to the
alimony. If you need to modify the alimony payment after the first agreement was made, those costs
can be deducted as well.
Keep in mind that there are limitations on how big of a deduction you can take. In general, if the fees
are less than 2% of your AGI (adjusted gross income) then you should be fine.
Tax Consultation Fees
Taxes will play a big part of a divorce, and chances are that you will be talking to your divorce lawyer
about it at one point or another. Any time you talk to your lawyer about taxes, take note of it and
determine what the billable cost is for their time. These consultations you receive about taxes can be
considered a tax deduction as well. Just make sure that you are not including any billable hours
towards your actual divorce, since those are not tax related.
For more information about tax deductions related to a divorce, speak with your lawyer about it. After
all, that time spent discussing it will be deductible in the

The Affects Of Climate Change On Marine Mammals
Effects of climate change on marine mammals Introduction Climate change is the change in
distribution of weather patterns usually after an extended period. Climate change is caused by factors
such as variation in solar radiation, biotic processes, volcanic eruptions and plate tectonic oceans are
known to be affected by climate. Marine mammals are very sensitive to changes in the ocean
environment. It is anticipated that climate change effects on marine mammals mediated majorly by
changes in prey distribution and abundance and the adaptable species may be able to respond to this
changes to some extent.
Observations made during the previous years on marine mammals show that certain species maybe
vulnerable than others this may include those with limited habitat such as narwhals. Reviews provided
by top organization, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change indicate that climate change is likely
to induce changes in temperatures and adjustment associated with ocean circulation, sea level, and ice
coverage.
Impact of climate change on marine mammals occur differently according to type of mammal and its

Use Of Ipod As An Educational Experiment
Technology has brought huge influences on everyone s lives, and one of the influences is reflecting on
education collective learning. The Duke University brought iPod as an academic device and
educational experiment to all the first year class students. The iPod inverts the traditional role of
technology, which has many new functions. Students can not only listen to music, but also use the
iPod as an academic device to share knowledge with others. This concept can be seen in Project
Classroom Makeover, by Cathy Davidson. In Project Classroom Makeover, Davidson introduces the
use of iPod as an educational experiment, which brings out the idea of crowdsourcing. Crowdsourcing
is a group of people will share their ideas and solve the problem, which is one way of collective
learning. In the Duke University, students will collaborate and share creative ideas together. Collective
learning has played a positive role in education by regaining students interest of studying, improving
student s collaborate thinking, and increasing the likelihood of students to success in the future.
Collective learning helps the parents and educators to regain students interest of studying. The iPod
was a popular entertainment device back in 2003, and this device was mainly for listening music.

Socialization Techniques Of African American Male Within...
Abstract
Socialization techniques of African Americans, in particular black males in the criminal justice system
are vastly dissimilar in comparison to their white counterparts. The dominant socialization
indifference is theoretically associated with Marxist Criminology schools of thought, in particular
conflict theory. Qualitative, empirical, and historical data supports Marxist criminology based on
capitalism, conflict, and the disparity treatment of the Afro American male within the criminal justice
system: police, courts, and corrections. This research will address how capitalism creates a caste
system that perpetuates conflict. Furthermore, this research will briefly explore the correlation of
American capitalism, slavery, Jim Crow, and the new Negro coined criminal; and the Marx school of
thought as it pertains to African American males interaction within the American criminal justice
system and the hidden agenda of its capitalistic government.
Keywords: crime, ethnic racial socialization, policing techniques, race, racial discrimination
Introduction
The socialization techniques of African American males in the American criminal justice system are
vastly disproportionate in comparison to their white counter parts. Economics and power play a vital
role in this epidemic. This is best associated with Karl Marx s philosophy of Marxist Criminology.

Soccer Is Better Than Women Essay
Soccer is the most popular sport played across the world. In most countries, soccer is played by kids
as soon as they can walk, but that does not seem to be the case here in the United States. Even with

Shoes For HighSchool Three years ago, I started my journey to provide shoes for the fifth graders attending the J.B. Sutton Elementary School. Now, three schools in the same school district were given shoes for their fifth grade students. However, if an individual would have told the fifteen year old me that one day this would be happening, I would have laughed because the challenges of providing shoes for one school were astronomical. It would entail that the shoe committee would need to raise $4,000, measure around 300 feet, and find a way to deliver all of the shoes to the children. Other challenges that arose over the years were the schools administration changing frequently and having to explain what our mission was and why we were providing the shoes. Furthermore, another dilemma was that the fifth grade students were regularly be absent, suspended, or relocate to a different school district, which inhibited the team from garnering proper shoe sizes and totals. Another exceedingly oppressing obstacle our team would face was dealing with a student who was wearing a shoe that was undersized. For instance, our compassion would compel us to ask why the child wasn t wearing the proper shoe size and they would answer with chagrin because it would be due to their parents not being able to buy them a ... He asks them why they are crying and they say that their husbands were killed at the siege of Thebes and Creon, ruler of Thebes, would not let their husband s remains be recovered from the field (912 951). He heard this and was so emotionally moved that he decided to march on Thebes and take back their bodies. He lead his army to Thebes and captured Thebes. Black Elk Speaksby John Neihardt Black Elk Speaks, a personal narrative, has the features of many different genres. The different genres that I noticed were in the book were, autobiography, testimonial, tribal history, and elegy. Black Elk Speaks is divided into 25 chapters, which portray the early life of Black Elk. The author tells us that Black Elk was a healer and a great holy man. He was said to have this mystical vision since he was young. As a tribal history, it shows the change of the Sioux nation from pre reservation to reservation culture, including their partaking in the ghost dance, the Battle of Little Big Horn, and Wounded Knee. Black Elk Speaks propositions testament to the price in human grief that the Sioux had to pay for the United States expanding westward. It grieves his cultural misplacement and the age of being innocent and being free. Black lk Speaks is framed with a preace and Author s postscript. This reminds the readers of an editing presence. Neihardt explains the circumstances, when he talked to black elk. Initial to the description of the great vision are chapters 1 and 2. The actual great vision is mentioned in chapter 3. Chapter 3 was definidtly the longest and the hardest to understand in the book. Chapter 3 was about Black Elk and his confisence in the author, Neihardt, and it also describes the first couple years in Black Elks younger days. The presidency, the majority of state governorships, both houses of congress and the majority of state assemblies have been lost by the Democrats to the Republican Party. This has left many Democratic citizens wondering, what happened? Why did their party suddenly fall from favor with the voting public? Though I do not hold myself out as having a definitive answer I do have a hunch as to why the Democrats have been losing big at the polls. Here in California, there are several Mexican supermarkets that offer almost all of the basic and essential products in making or preparing the dishes common for this culture. This is an advantage for Mexicans that reside here in California. The interviewees also mentioned that in other states, Mexican food products are scarce making it difficult for some of them to prepare the meals that they are used to eating. Having learned about the common food and dietary practices in the Mexican culture, it seems quite challenging to teach dietary adjustments, especially if they are used to cooking and eating the same type of food for many years. The On TheBeauty Of Lionfish Lionfish come with red, maroon or brown stripes and specks on their body and flashy fins. Their beautiful long fins flowing gracefully in the water and dramatic colors are fascinating and inspiring. No doubt lionfish are one of popular aquarium fishes as well as painting subjects. As my final project, I want to create a captivating image, while enjoying exploration of the beauty and details of lionfish. For the underwater backdrop, I want to suggest a coral reef environment. A solid or simple blue underwater backdrop would be sufficient to show the beauty of lionfish, but it is too plain for my taste. I decide to paint underwater ripples along with a brain coral. The challenge is creating a background that doesn t compete against the flamboyant and colorful lionfish, yet adds enough interest to the viewer s eye. American Intervention, Chile,And Augusto Pinochet American Intervention, Chile, Augusto Pinochet After World War II, the United States emerged as a world power. However, with this new power and hegemony status, came the threat of being overtaken and being replaced as the dominant nation. One threat that the United States faced was the rise of Communism. The US feared the spread of Communism in other nations, even in Latin America. One country where the US intervened to stop the spread of Communism is Chile. In 1970, Salvador Allende, a Marxist and a member of a joint Communist Socialist coalition, was elected to the presidency over the incumbent Eduardo Frei, who had the support of the US. The time had come to make other nations take notice. In response to all of the rising tensions, the US established the Monroe Doctrine in 1823. It established neutrality of the US in terms of European foreign policy affairs, but at the same time, prohibited the European countries from colonizing any regions in the Western Hemisphere and stated, any attempt on their part to extend their system to any portion of this hemisphere as dangerous to our peace and safety (Hastedt, 12). At the time, many nations in the Europe either dismissed or did take notice of the importance of this decree by the United States. With this official document, the national interest of the US was made clear, but it would not have to be enforced and modified until almost a century later (Nester, 86 87). Another way the United States protected its interests in the international system was through the Roosevelt Corollary. This addition to the Monroe Doctrine established the power of the US to police nations in the Western Hemisphere, especially when the governments, or heads of power, of these nations are not able to maintain order (Hastedt, 12). Through this amendment of the doctrine, the US was given a bigger sphere of influence in Latin America, and ultimately, the world. There are two components to this research question: The first draws on strategic management research and the notion of organizational legitimacy and to what degree organizations operationally respond to public opinion; the second is the concept of character, what it means, how it is conceptualized, measured and operationalised through the selection of new employees. Ethics also aids in retaining employees (McDaniel, Organizational Ethics: Research and Ethical Environments, 2004), which is increasingly business critical as the war for talent intensifies (Michaels, Handfield Jones, Axelrod, War for Talent, Harvard Business School Press, McKinzie Co, 2001). Ethiopian Cultural Identity 1.What is your chosen group background? What has it meant to belong to this group? As you know, I am Ethiopian. I was born and raised in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia. I belong to the Ethiopian community not only in Ethiopia, but also here in America. Finding Ethiopian friends who share the same interest as me, understand their culture, practice their languages, and have interest in returning back to Ethiopia someday, has always been a struggle for me. Most of the Ethiopians who I meet are Americanized. When I was studying at NIU, I was blessed to have a small circle of Ethiopians who grew up there. Spending time with me made me feel secure, like I actually belonged. Lucky for me, I am also a part of the African community. There are 53 countries in Africa; however, there is an unbreakable bond that is seen amongst Africans around the world. We share the same identity and have the upmost love and respect for our continent and the people still living there. 2. Where did you grow up and what other groups resided there? How did this early personal history influence your beliefs of others I lived in Ethiopia for quite some time before given a chance to move to America. When I arrived in America, the only people that were around me were Caucasians. They did not look like me or act like me. I found this very difficult when I first came to America. Social Hierarchies InAncient Mesopotamia The main social hierarchies in ancient Mesopotamian societies tended to be very similar. In general, everything revolved around the King and the upper class such as, priests, scribes, merchants and artisans, and the majority of society consisted of commoners and slaves, whose way of life revolved around farming. For example, The Code of Hammurabi, law 15 states, If a man should enable a palace slave, a palace slave woman, a commoner s slave, or a commoner s slave woman to leave through the main city gates, he shall be killed (p. 19). Another great example is Law 112 that posits, If a merchant should give silver to a trading agent for an investment venture, and he incurs a loss on his journeys, he shall return silver to the merchant in the amount of the capital sum (p. 20). Identify And ExplainThe Factors That Cause Changes In... The three factors that caused Galetown to have more severe rainstrorms this summer than in previous years are stronger winds, higher temperature and the new lake. First of all, stronger winds push the air parcels (An amount of air that moves as a unit) higher up in the troposphere. The higher the air parcel is in the troposphere, the colder it is. This will cause a greater energy transfer from the parcel to the surrounding air allowing them to become the same temperature and having condensation occurs. This will soon fall out as rain. In the chart, it tells us that in storms 3 and 4 that all factors are the same before the storm such as the surface water (high) and the temperatures are close enough to not make a significant difference. But the wind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When the air parcel rises in the troposphere, the more energy transfer. The reason why the energy transfers is because the water vapor must have an equivalent temp to the surrounding air. More energy causes it to have more evaporation transferring more water vapor to the surrounding air. As the energy transfer occurs, the water vapor gets through condensation and turns to liquid water. The higher the parcel gets, the colder it is in the surrounding air which causes the water to condense and come out as rain. This is important because when the temperature of the air parcel is higher, it will rise higher in the troposphere and the higher the cloud is in the troposphere, the more rain that will fall. Also, the modeling tool tells us that storms 2 and 3 had all the same factors ( water vapor, troposphere temperature and surface water) but, the parcel temperature, was higher in storm 3 which caused it to have more rain. Lastly, the reason why the weather has been acting up is the new lake. The lake is causing more evaporation (the process by which a liquid changes into a gas). This is important because the more evaporation there is, the more condensation (the process by which a gas changes into a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Psalm 114 Essay Psalm114 is a praise psalm. This psalm functions to unite Israel in their shared history as a people who God had provided for when they relied on him. Wherever Israel was during the composing of this particular psalm, they likely needed to be reminded of such things as God s faithfulness. It may be that because of this psalm s emphasis on God s dominance of the earth that there was a famine or a long winter Israel had to endure. Whatever their situation, this psalm praises God s presence, providence, and control over the earth. Verses 1 2 The verse 1 parallelism is both semantic and syntactic. That is to say that the grammatical order is nearly the same, and the meaning is very similar as well. The word pairs are Israel/House of Jacob, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Judah was the told by his father, The scepter shall not pass from Judah (Genesis 49: 8 12). Therefore, Judah (David was of his lineage) has been the place of rule. The place of rule in the second verse here becomes the place of God s holiness or his sanctuary. In the larger scale, Israel becomes God s dominion. Thus rather than speaking of a king or other ruler, God is the one who rules. Verse 3 4 The sea, the Jordan, the mountains, and the hills are all personified as turning back and taking flight. This is to highlight the incredible nature of the event, as well as poetically describe exactly what happened. The sea really did flee to either side as Israel crossed. With mention of the bodies of water and the mountains and hills, there seems to be an emphasis on the fact that those things were conquered. The chaos of the waters and the indomitability of the mountains and hills are not only overcome, they take flight out of fear. Verses 5 6 Verses 5 and 6 are rhetorical questions that repeat the subjects of the previous two verses in the same order. These two verses do not explicitly tell us anything new, they only ask why. Thus far, the first four verses have been telling us what and now the psalmist rhetorically asks, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Why I AmA Motor Skill When observing Presley, with her body size you noticed she is larger than the other children around her. I was informed by one of the caregivers she is the oldest out of the children there. Not knowing actual height and weight, comparing her to the other children, she was taller and looked fuller. Presley is two years old and if fully walking. Under the gross motor skill, the third element in the dynamic system; practice unbalanced, wide legged, short strides become steady, smooth gait, Presley was surpassed that stage. She walked with her arms down, not out, and legs were close together. The other children around her seemed to be in the practice phase. One fine motor skill I noticed was a mouth skill, pronunciation. Her words were clear, making it easier to understand what she asked for or talking in general. She said zapatoes , which is a spanish word for shoes and was said clearly and understood. Presley grasping was more focused on toys, while I was there she did not get into any altercations(pulling hair/biting) with the other children. Because Presley is two years old, I noticed more Tertiary Circular Reactions, rather than primary/secondary circular reaction. For an example of stage six, when Presley was trying to put the shorts on the doll, she placed the doll on the on the table and when she tried to put the shorts on the doll would slide forward, making it difficult for her to get the shorts on. I was hurt under your arm says Mercutio and pins his death on Romeo. Then, Romeo kills Tybalt to revenge Mercutio. This impetuous action flares the feud further, and causes Romeo to be exiled from Verona. The grief generated by Romeo s banishment kills Lady Montague. Another death that is caused by Romeo is Paris . Paris prejudges Romeo as a Montague, and believes that he is visiting the tombs to do a villainous shame . They duel, and he is slaughtered by Romeo. Paris death echoes that of Tybalt in terms of motive that flares the duels which is basically bias. The penultimate death is Romeo s own. Romeo, herein, is extremely impulsive and refuses to ponder about not killing himself. The reader can not help but think that he would have been alive if he waited. His suicide does not only kill himself, but also drives Juliet to kill herself which is the last death that Romeo causes. Use Of IpodAs An Educational Experiment Technology has brought huge influences on everyone s lives, and one of the influences is reflecting on education collective learning. The Duke University brought iPod as an academic device and educational experiment to all the first year class students. The iPod inverts the traditional role of technology, which has many new functions. Students can not only listen to music, but also use the iPod as an academic device to share knowledge with others. This concept can be seen in Project Classroom Makeover, by Cathy Davidson. In Project Classroom Makeover, Davidson introduces the use of iPod as an educational experiment, which brings out the idea of crowdsourcing. Crowdsourcing is a group of people will share their ideas and solve the problem, which is one way of collective learning.
