Essay About Schools
Crafting an essay on the topic of schools may initially seem like a straightforward task, given the
abundance of information available. However, as one delves deeper into the subject, the
complexity becomes apparent. The challenge lies not only in compiling facts and figures but in
presenting a coherent narrative that captures the multifaceted nature of the educational system.
To begin with, the topic "Schools" encompasses a vast array of subtopics, each demanding its
share of attention. From the historical evolution of education to the intricacies of modern
pedagogical approaches, the essay must navigate through diverse realms. Balancing between
addressing overarching concepts and delving into specific aspects, such as curriculum design,
teacher-student dynamics, and the impact of technology, requires a delicate touch.
Moreover, the essay must strike a balance between objectivity and personal reflection. While
statistical data and research findings provide a solid foundation, infusing the essay with a
personal touch can elevate it beyond mere information dissemination. This requires a nuanced
understanding of the subject, where the writer must navigate the fine line between advocacy and
critique.
The challenge is not only in presenting a well-informed perspective but also in avoiding the
pitfalls of oversimplification. Schools are dynamic entities influenced by societal, cultural, and
economic factors. A comprehensive essay should reflect this dynamism while avoiding the trap
of generalization. Navigating through the nuances of educational policy, social equity, and the
diverse experiences of students adds layers of complexity to the writing process.
Furthermore, crafting a compelling essay requires a skillful play with language. Achieving clarity
without sacrificing depth, maintaining a coherent structure, and engaging the reader throughout
the exploration of various aspects demand a high level of linguistic proficiency. The writer must
carefully select words, employ effective transitions, and ensure the logical flow of ideas.
In conclusion, writing an essay about schools involves more than just compiling information; it is
a delicate dance between facts and interpretation, objectivity and subjectivity, and simplicity and
complexity. It requires a writer to navigate through the diverse facets of education, providing
insights that go beyond surface-level observations. Ultimately, it is a challenging endeavor that
demands a deep understanding of the subject matter and a mastery of the art of essay writing.

A Short Note On Opioid Control And Opioid Controlled
Drug
Diamorphine is used for pain control and known as an opioid Controlled Drug [CD],
acting by blocking pain signals to the brain (BNF, 2015; NICE, 2016). Opioid
medication is licenced for the management of moderate to severe pain however, long
term use can cause reliance of the drug yet when used to treat a terminal illness, there
are no restrictions (Knott, 2013; Nice, 2016). Morphine s most common side effects
include nausea and vomiting, sedation, constipation, hypotension and sweating
however, it can cause hallucinations which are important in the management of
anxiety in palliative care (Everyday Health, 2016; Mann Carr, 2009). Diamorphine
causes less nausea and hypotension than morphine and the focus in palliative care is
painmanagement which is more effective when avoiding pain, than in the relief of
pain (Cancer Research UK, 2015).
Levomepromazine is Prescription Only Medication [POM] usually known as an
antipsychotic drug {tranquillizer} however, it can also be used as an antiemetic drug
to control nausea and vomiting (BNF, 2015; NHS Scotland, 2014). There are many
antiemetic drugs used to treat nausea and vomiting however, some work on the brain
by stopping the stimulation of the vomiting centre, whilst others work on the gut
emptying the stomach contents at a faster rate (Macmillan Cancer Support, 2013).
An antiemetic drug is chosen according to the causes of the vomiting and in Jacobs s
case it is a known side effect of taking Diamorphine. The most common side
Self Antigen Essay
Due to the absence of self antigen presentation in the thymus [36], or the low affinity
of T cells for self antigens [37], autoreactive T cells escape sometimes from thymic
negative selection.
To complete the efficacy of central tolerance, the immune system developed many
tools to neutralize these cells and avoid autoimmune diseases. These mechanisms are
either passive, concerning antigen ignorance, T cell anergy or apoptosis induction
and phenotypic skewing, or active when mediated by regulatory cells [38].
Antigen ignorance allows autoreactive T cells to persist as functional circulating T
cells while never primed by any antigen [39]. Indeed, antigens can be masked by
anatomical barriers like lens proteins, spermatozoids, or nervous ... Show more

Without CD28/
CD80 CD86 engagement, interactions between TCRs and alloantigens induce the
anergy of T cells. CTLA 4 (CD152) has a large structural homology with CD28 and
interacts with CD80
CD86 with better affinity than CD28 molecule and functions as a negative regulator
of T cell activation [56]. The expression of these two molecules regulates the balance
between activation and inhibition of T cells and allows the control of an over
reaction of the immune system leading to inflammation or autoimmunity [57].
Similarly, the expression of Programmed
Death 1 (PD 1) after antigenic stimulation and interaction with its ligand PDL 1
reduces IL 2 synthesis and induces T cell anergy [58]. Another important co

I stumbled through the first thirty eight years of life attempting to mask the hurts
caused by myself and others. I was my own worst critic fueled by raging addictions
and chaos; searching to find a perfection that could never be achieved. Life was a
hurricane of madness and at the center of that storm was the Father waiting for me to
give Him my whole heart. The purpose of this paper is to show through those who
have been studied, the textbooks that have been read and my own opinions; the

Your job is to help people deal with the changes that come into their lives and make
changes that will improve their lives (Collins, 2007, pp. 3 4). Additionally, Pastoral
counseling can be both distinctively pastoral and psychologically informed. This
occurs when it takes the identity from the rich tradition of Christian soul care and
integrates appropriate insights of modern therapeutic psychology... (Benner, 2003,

reliance upon the Father for change and healing and through Jesus Christ [who] is
the only all sufficient and perfect healer for hurt people (Wilson, 2001, p. 14). b.
Development of Problems and Personal Need How do the issues come about?
Dr. Sandra D. Wilson (2001) asks, Have you ever felt as if you were the only
caterpillar in a butterfly world? Do you often feel as if you have to do twice as
much to be half as good as other (p. 16)? If you answered, yes, then that is what
Wilson (2001) calls binding shame. Shame is the soul deep belief that something is
horribly wrong with me that is not wrong with anyone else in the entire world. If I
am bound by shame, I feel hopelessly, distinguishingly different and worthless (p. 16).
Problems and needs develop from this binding shame and events in our lives;
childhood hurts, traumas, bad relationships, and poor coping skills which we allow
to shape and define us. Emotions, which are the feelings we
Ancient Egyptian Art Research Paper
Long time ago in a galaxy far far away, back in the olden times of ancient
civilizations, art and culture was essential to the lore, society, and survivability of a
civilization. Although often differing in style, forms, and mediums, these art works
/pieces contributed deeply and truly to the importance of civilization. They always
had a purpose and meaning behind them. In ancient Egyptian times. The Egyptians
would create exquisite works of art to place into their temples, tombs, and other
such religious structures. The Egyptians were completely sold on the idea of
Eternal life. You could even say they were obsessed with this idea of eternal life.
Because of this, we find today that all of their art, writing, and music revolved around
Paper On The Last Supper
As we near the end of the semester, it is important to reflect back on what was
discussed and learned. We have viewed many pieces of work over the last few
months including relatively old pieces as well as modern ones. With everything in
life, one will develop their personal opinion on the matter. With that being said, I
have chosen two pieces of work to contemplate: one being positive and one being
negative. There were many pieces throughout the semester that I could develop a
positive or even a negative response to, however, the following are my top two pieces
in each aspect. The Last Supper, which was created by Leonardo da Vinci in 1498,
can easily be considered as one of the most famous paintings to this day. I chose this
work to serve as my positive response simply because in my opinion there is not a

The painting is absolutely beautiful in terms of visual aspects. Leonardo used a one
point perspective to effectively accentuate the center of the painting, which is
most obviously Jesus Christ. Not only does he put the vanishing point at Christ s
head, but he creates a triangle with his body that no other object overlaps. He uses
contrast to light up the middle of the painting while making the edges much darker.
All of these create a powerful image of Jesus. Not only do I like the painting for it s
beautiful visual aspects but it s emotional beauty. It doesn t necessarily make me
sad. It more so opens my eyes to the reality of the story. The painting was designed
to be different from the previous depictions of the last supper. Leonardo has given
his take on the psychology of each of the figures in the painting. The emotions of
each of the apostles is overwhelming and ultimately give off the affect of a subtle
chaos due to the fact that Christ has just told them one of them will betray him.
Andromeda s Subsequent Marriage To Perseus
This passage contains both Andromeda s rescue and her subsequent marriage to
Perseus. In essence, then, we might say it is transitory. Yet Ovid marks this shift, the
first sustained perspective change in 141 lines, merely with the main caesura of 758.
Arguably, such a fluid movement means that it is unhelpful to think of this passage
simply as a marker between the dГ©nouement of one narrativeand the exposition of
another; to do so would be to ignore the poet s structural indentation in addition to the
gobbetting of the passage itself. The implication is that Ovid treats the gods in
Perseus Homeric sacrifice with the same narratological brush as the bacchanalian
excess animi...laeti. Could this invite a direct comparison with Bacchus, the purveyor
of rituals?
The end stop on line 756 lends itself to this sort of reading. Indeed, the definitive
placement of altae for Mercurius, Minerua and Juppiter, juxtaposes Ovid s use of
the enjambment lyraeque /tibiaquae on 760 761; evoking the excess, the spilling
over, of marital festivity. This is strongly reflective of Ovid s hymn (9 30) to
Bacchus at the beginning of Book 4. There, the chants and rhythms may have worked
to produce a rhyme stressing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence, just as the very nature of the poet s knowledge tears at the fabric of his
Metamorphoses, so do the conflicting elements of his narration whether the
epimythium is showing or telling for example surface here. These arise from the
genre bending essence of the opus itself. In this sense the macroscopic function of
this passage (rituals and wedding) may not really be about the daily lives and real
world experiences which Homer broadly portrays. Instead, the two end stops but
eleven clauses within the passage suggest that it may work structurally to delay
Medusa s beheading, to embellish and to characterise Perseus with Callimachean

Amir grew up with a sense of entitlement, and a loyal servant/friend in Hassan.
After Hassan s rape, Amir is stricken with grief and tries to console himself by
saying that he is better than Hassan because Hassan is a Hazara and has a cleft lip.
It s here where the disgusting mindset of Amir, a perspective that only the reader
has the opportunity to understand. Hassan knew. He knew I d seen everything in
that alley, that I d stood there and done nothing. He knew I had betrayed him and
yet he was rescuing me once again, maybe for the last time. (Kite 9.29) This quote
perfectly encapsulates Amir s feelings of extreme grief for what he did to Hassan.
This is a recurring theme within the book, the reader sees the anxiety that Amir feels
for betraying Hassan in the alley that day, and from that day he does his best to repent
for his unatoned sins.
Another importance of first person narrative within The Catcher in the Rye and The
Kite Runner is it allows the reader to empathize with the characters of the novels.
In both novels the narrator/main character is not the most likeable. Holden
Caulfield is a very cynical and jaded narrator, and finds the hypocrisy and ugliness
of the world around him almost unbearable, through his cynicism he tries to protect
himself from the pain and disappointment of the adult world. Amir is a complex
character like all protagonist narrator s are. He isn t all bad, but he has a crippled
conscious, and makes very
Essay on Stairway to Heaven
How do I get to the Stairway to Heaven?
Introduction
In 1971, Led Zeppelin released a chart topping, revolutionary song that is currently
still played by many people across the globe. The song Stairway to Heaven off of
their fourth album( Led Zeppelin IV) was almost an instant hit amongst all people of
the United States, and various other countries. The song was composed by band
members Jimmy Page (guitarist) and Robert Plant ( vocalist). The song is lengthy one,
with a duration of roughly eight minutes and withholds many complex segments.
Stairway to heaven begins as somewhat of an older folk type melody, then delves
into a deeper, more abrupt, electric type of composition whilst the whole time altering
tempo. It was and still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

express and reveal individuality through interpretation.
People, Perspective, and Perception : The Audience
The main audience of the song stairway to heaven was not limited to any particular
group or country. The creative diversity of this song seemed to have adopted a
broad range of listeners from throughout the globe. The song was open to anyone
and everyone, from people who strictly liked the new acoustical factors of the song
that had not been prevalent in many song prior, to people who wanted to do some
soul searching and analyze the lyrics to better understand themselves through
interpretations without having to conform to strict definitions that society had
pressed upon heaps of musical works prior and up to the release of this song. The
take off of this song was a little shaky because of the new elements and components
that Plant and Page added into the instrumentals of the song. All of these new
unique parts required the listeners of this song to do some getting used to . Your
ideal listener to this song is younger people who were trying to navigate their lives
through a new system of beliefs and wanted to become detached from the concrete
lifestyles of their previous generations. These people wanted to experiment and go
beyond the confines of a sheltered routine life and experience life
Analysis of States by Edward Said
Edward Said States refutes the view Western journalists, writers, and scholars have
created in order to represent Eastern cultures as mysterious, dangerous, unchanging,
and inferior. According to Said, who was born in Jerusalem at that time Palestine, the
way westerners represent eastern people impacts the way they interact with the global
community. All of this adds to, Palestinians having to endure unfair challenges such
as eviction, misrepresentation, and marginalization that have forced them to spread
allover the world. By narrating the story of his country Palestine, and his fellow
countrymen from their own perspective Said is able to humanize Palestinians to the

The Palestinian Arabs refused to recognize the arrangement, which led to a war
known as al Nakba. Al Nakba or the Catastrophe is known this way by Arabs
because of all the losses they had including defeat, and their inability to create a
Palestine state after the war.
Ever since, Palestinians have had to adapt to new places and cultures in order to
survive, which makes it more difficult for them to preserve their own. Said
presents several examples of transculturation throughout the essay. For instance, the
use of the Mercedes, even though Said describes it in negative terms, the use of
the Mercedes has come in handy for Palestinians. Enduring one disaster after
another, Palestinian identity is arduous to preserve in exile. It is a struggle of
having no country. Our country is a big part of who we are. As we are born, we are
destined to become a part of it. It becomes part of our identity. Things that we grew
up with meant something to us. We usually treasure things that became part of our
lives. Even unconsciously, we take hold of it. Home brings us memories, memories
that we want to hold on up to our last breath.
According to Mary Louise Pratt s Arts of the Contact Zone, an autoethnographic text
can be defined as a text where the author describes himself or his people using
mechanisms provided by others. Such texts are almost always the product of a
contact zone or a place where cultures meet and clash. In other words,
autoethnographic texts are those in
Benefits And Benefits Of Retirement Plans
Retirement Plans Companies have the option of selecting the best pension plan
for both the employee and the employer. There are several different types to plans
available, but the most common are defined benefit plans and defined contribution
plans. Each plan offers different incentives for both the employer and the
employee, which makes their values different for every situation. Defined Benefit
Plans Large corporations under which the employer promises to pay a retiree a
stated pension, often expressed as a percentage of preretirement pay, which is
traditionally used and known as a defined benefit plans (Cascio, 2013, p. 483). The
most common formula for defined benefit plans couples an employee s years of
service and their final average pay, to determine the amount of their retirement.
Employers then pay into the fund each year to cover the expected benefit payment
for the employee. The majority of defined benefit plans calculates earnings over
the last 3 to 5 years of service for a prospective retiree and offers a pension that is
about one half this amount, which varies from 30 to 80 percent, adjusted for years
of seniority (Milkovich, Newman, Gerhart, 2014, p. 466). The following is a list of
characteristics for defined benefit plans. Benefits are guaranteed by the Pension

Let Her Go Poem Analysis
The song Let Her Go by Passenger portrays a theme of loosing love and not
appreciating love or understanding how much someone means until they are gone.
This song makes you understand loss and how it is easy to take for granted the
people who are in our lives. Throughout the song, the chorus is repeated five times
which creates a memorable and lasting effect on the listener. We are able to
remember the lyrics of the chorus the most and are able to recall them years after we
first heard the song. The repetition is hinting to the importance and meaning of the
words. A hyperbole used in the song is Everything you touch [will] surely die.
However, objects you touch do not die instantly. This hyperbole exaggerates how

Perfect Competition Essay example
Perfect Competition
Perfect competition is an idealised market structure theory used in economics to show
the market under a high degree of competition given certain conditions. This essay
aims to outline the assumptions and distinctive features that form the perfectly
competitive model and how this model can be used to explain short term and long
term behaviour of a perfectly competitive firm aiming to maximise profits and the
implications of enhancing these profits further.
In a perfectly competitive market each firm is a Price Taker , i.e. the prices and
wages are determined by the market and the firm is so small relative to the size of
the market that they can have no influence over the market price. For a market to be

This is also linked into the behaviour of the buyers in the market. Buyers are also
price takers because they can purchase as much as they wish without influencing the
market price. The final assumption is important when considering the long term
equilibrium price of a firm in perfect competition. This assumption is that entry into
the market is free and that there are no barriers to entry. Any costs incurred are
incurred by all of the suppliers; an entrant will pay no additional cost for entering the
firm.
In the short run the perfect competition equilibrium can be found by graphing the
marginal cost (MC), average total cost (ATC) and marginal revenue (MR) curves. In
perfect competition the price is equal to the average revenue, which is equal to the
marginal revenue and these are all constant, giving an infinitely elastic demand curve
for the firm. The demand curve is perfectly price elastic due to the homogeneity of
the products supplied, where each supplier, as a price taker, must focus on a single
price. Given this, the only choice a supplier has in the short run is how much to
produce. For profit maximisation to occur marginal costs (supply curve) must equal
marginal revenue (demand curve). Profit maximisation is assumed to mean the
maximisation of normal economic profit (i.e. revenue that covers the
Listening to Music in School
Students should be able to listen to music while studying or completing assignments
during class. Music influences humans both in good and bad ways. Listening to
music while studying or at work can be beneficial to brain functioning helping you
stay focused. When you listen to music while studying, your brainis activated to think
spatially. Musicis not only beneficial for students but can help with emotional issues
as well. The effects of music are very beneficial to students as well as workers and
should be allowed in classrooms and work environments.
You may be thinking how can music help me focus on my work? Well I have the
answer to that and it may be surprising. As a student myself I have found times
where I was not able to get my work done because I just wasn t motivated or I
couldn t stay focused on the task at hand. It can even be frustrating or
overwhelming trying to complete work. Depending on what type of music you re
listening to while working it can actually encourage you to keep working and keep
you focused on your studies. According to Teresa Lesiuk of The University of
Windsor in Canada listening to music while you work can increase positivity and
give you inspiration to keep working (Psychology of Music April 2005 vol. 33 no. 2
173 191). In a survey conducted by Harris Interactive it was stated that nearly one
third (32%) of 1,613 U.S. employees said they listen to music while working through
the use of an iPod, MP3 player or similar device. And
The Deployment Of Military Personnel Essay
As of April 12, 2015, excluding the U.S. Coast Guard, there are nearly 1.2 million
active duty U.S. military personnel (Demographics of Active Duty U.S. Military,
2015). Approximately half of these men and women have a spouse and/or children
that they must say goodbye to once they are deployed and deployment can last four to
fifteen months. The deployment of military personnel adversely affects their families
by causing negative emotional and/or behavioral changes, continuously altering the
framework of the familydynamic, and by increasing the risk factors for divorce upon
their post deployment reintegration. Deployment of a parent and/or spouse can cause
a myriad of behavioral and/or emotional changes in the family members left behind.
The stress of deployment on the spouse left at home can cause mental health issues
that have a negative impact on their relationship with their child(ren) and their
parentingpractices (Swenson Wolff, 2011). Subsequently, a spouse left to parent and
carry on alone for months on end may begin to feel the weight of their compounded
responsibilities, the fear for their spouse s safety, and the heartache of loneliness in
such a deep way that depression, insomnia, and anxiety lead them to needing
medication and/or therapy. The children in these families have no control over the
situation and in addition to their own pshychological reactions have a deep sense of
helplessness in regards to their military parent s safety, the parent

This political study will define the future effect of the election of Prime Minister
Justin Trudeau in terms of the Canadian foreign policy in the restructuring of military
intervention in foreign affairs and the pro trade globalization mandates of the Trans
Pacific Partnership (TPP). Trudeau s election defines the overriding political agenda
of the Liberal Party of Canadato stop ineffective bombing missions in Syria and Iraq,
yet to maintain special forces troops to better manage the war against ISIS. More so,
Trudeau supports the globalizationof Canadian trade by promoting the positive
effects of the TPP to promote international growth in trade. These aspects of the
new Liberal government are vital aspects of as greater focus on improved economic
security and a declining approach to pro American bombing campaigns as a form of

would you imagine that there would be an enemy so small but so able to provoke the
super power of the world The United States. Al Qaeda is an international terrorist
network, which is considered the most significant terrorist threat to the United States.
Al Qaedais a prominent group among the hundreds of terrorist organizations that
despise The United States. Al Qaeda was established around 1988 by Osama bin
Laden. This terrorist organization is comprised of thousands of fighters from
different countries all over the world. Osama bin Laden first formed this
organization to take part in the resistance to defeat the Soviet Union. At a time
when the Soviet Union was invading Afghanistan. An analysis of the terrorist
group Al Qaeda reveals that it is challenging for the United States to win a war that
is not physical in nature but primarily psychological. Terrorist groups tend to wage
a war that is physical in some aspects but the key to victory for a terrorist
organization is to win through psychological attacks and tactics. Al Qaeda is an
important terrorist group not only because they are a well known group that poses a
significant threat to the United States and western interest, but for the reason that it
has survived and been in operation for over four decades.
When looking at a nation as powerful and massive as the United States, one can only
wonder what type of force would one need to take
Application And Specification Of A Computer Network
On December 6, 1967, the Department of Defense awarded a contract with the
purpose of the design and specification of a computer network . Four months later,
the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPANET) was created. By October 15,
1969, computers at the University of California Los Angeles and Stanford were
connected and communicating (InternetHistory from ARAPNET to Broadband, 2007)
. Thus was the birth of the internet. Now, the internet is an indispensable tool that
provides us with an active connection to everyone and nearly everything. However,
we ve evolved the internet and moved forward to the internet of things (IoT). The IoT

Also of note are the new wearable devices. Today, instead of pulling out our wallet
to pay for groceries, we can simply scan our Apple Watch in front of an Apple Pay
terminal and have the funds immediately deducted from our account. When
arriving at the airport, your connected device can sense your current location and
immediately let your bank know you are preparing for a trip. As you drive, your
connected vehicle can download real time traffic and make suggested route
changes before you get stuck in traffic. More importantly, many modern vehicles
are equipped with sensors that can detect a collision and immediately dispatch help.
The connected world has far exceeded our expectations. One area of concern that
revolves around the IoT is cyber security. Throughout the 2016 presidential
primaries, cyber security has become an increasingly hot topic. During the January
17th, 2016 Democratic Primary Debate, cyber security was discussed no less than
six times (Leatherby, 2016). As the IoT continues to expand, hackers have expanded
their attacks as well. In July of 2015, hackers were able to remotely take control of
the systems onboard a Jeep Cherokee and completely disable the vehicle (Kerner,
2015). Unfortunately, this is not an isolated event. Both the FBI and National

Within our police system in America, there are gaps and loopholes that give leeway
to police officials who either abuse the authority given to them or do not represent the

through deviance, misconduct, corruption, and favoritism. Although these standards

These types of misconduct arise throughout police jobs that include routine
procedures such as traffic stops, ticket writing, directing traffic, and discouraging
potential threats to those in their community. What often go unnoticed, though, are
the undercover works and the corruptions that go on within a department. The four
terms associated with these conflicting values are deviance, which is behavior
inconsistent with the norms, values, or ethics, corruption, which is forbidden acts
involving misuse of office for gain, misconduct, which is the violation of
departmental procedures, and favoritism which is unfair breaks to friends or relatives.
According to T.R. O Connor in his article entitled Police Deviance and Ethics,
police also work includes the behind the scenes work of going undercover and
taking on false identities to induce crime, reporting vague information to media and
giving false ideas to the public, and invading privacy through the use of technology.
They can also make false promises to hostage takers and kidnappers, trade or sell
their days off and desirable work assignments, and position themselves to have cases
requiring court appearances. They can even manipulate the overtime system to earn
more money each year and strain the truth to protect loved ones and crime victims.
These descriptions are inconsistent with societal standards as well as police standards

Anti-Intellectualism at College Universities
Anti Intellectualism at College Universities
Education once existed as something very valuable, and something that only the
very wealthy obtained. You were considered lucky to have the opportunity of
getting an education, and not many took it for granted. Today, nearly everybody
receives an education of some degree, and things have definitely changed. Students
simply get educations because they are expected to or are required to. As the years
have progressed, less and less students actually enjoy their education. You get labeled
by many other students as weird or a freak if you enjoy learning. These kinds of ideas
have led to and continue to lead to many problems relating to anti intellectualism.

(Trout) If students aren t interested in their education, then why are they going to
college? College is designed to be a place to receive a post education. There are a lot
of students who attend college because their parents made them or they think you
have to or for the fun. Students who go to college without a desire to learn won t get
anything out of it. These kinds of students have a negative impact on students who
actually value their education. They spread anti intellectual ideas to students and give
them the impression that they are unusual for taking pride in their education and
cause them to become anti intellectual because that is clearly the cool thing to do.
More and more kids than ever before are arriving at colleges (Trout). This is good
in a way because it means that many more people are getting a post secondary
education, but not all students are at college for the right reasons. The kind of
students who go to college just to party or for reasons besides obtaining further
education spread their anti intellectual ideas around. Paul M. Levitt, professor at
Colorado University, plainly says many college kids are a sorry lot. Preoccupied
with their hair, their clothes, their cars, they have never developed a critical turn of
mind and have no interest in doing so. It does not bode well for higher education
The Getting Of Wisdom, Coonardoo And Summer Of The...
The characters in these three literary text, The Getting of Wisdom, Coonardoo and
Summer of the Seventeenth Doll, all demonstrate the traditions of gender roles in
the early twentieth century. The first text by Henry Richardson, The Getting of
Wisdom in 1910, a Bildungsroman story of a protagonist, Laura, as she develops to
gain wisdom through her boarding school life. Richardson s work undercovers what
it is to be a proper womanin the early twentieth century through Laura. The traditions
of women sexualities in the early 1900s were set quite strictly as genders were set to
play a certain role in order to become a fully grown adult. The Getting of Wisdom
describes the progression or the failure of Laura to become a proper woman
throughout the narrative. The next literary text, Coonardoo, is a literary novel written
by Katharine Susannah Prichard in the 1920s about the romantic life between an
Aboriginal woman and a white man. Although her work struck many issues about
interracial relationships as Corbould mentioned that Coonardoo uses bold and
unconventional elements in the narrative, (415) it reveals many sexual identity of the
Aboriginals and the Australian whites, through the narrative voice of a minority.
Summer of the Seventeenth Doll by Ray Lawler is an Australian play and was
originally set in the mid twentieth century. This last literary text uses its characters to
demonstrate their struggle with their identity and Olive s failure to conform to the
Minnie s Desolation in Susan Glaspell s A Jury of Her Peers
Susan Glaspell, writer of the short story A Jury of Her Peers details the isolated
rural farm house of Minnie Wright and Mr.Wright. Glaspell advocates for the
equality of woman and hopes to warn the readers of the difference between the law
and what is actually right. She conveys the meaning of her theme by describing a
case of a deprived woman, Minnie, who is absolutely isolated from any other kindof
companionship except for her husbands, which is like a raw hard wind that gets to
the bone. (Glaspell 198) Although Minnie isn t present at the time of the
investigation, the setting of her house lets the readers know some of the various
kinds of isolation she deals with for twenty years before being sent to jail. The
different kinds of isolation that Minnie experiences are symbolized in the objects and
information Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters share and discover while being at the scene of
the incident.
Minnie s youthful life was the complete opposite to her current life. Mrs. Hale
spoke of her youth and said she used to wear pretty clothes and be lively when she
was Minnie Foster. (Glaspell 195) But now all Minnie wears is a shabby black
shirt that bore the marks of much making over along with the same gray shawl .
(Glaspell 195) Minnie s lively spirit and style of clothing evoke a stage in her life
where she was joyful and free from a man who didn t represent her. However, now
that she bears her husbands last name, Minnie Wright wears shabby dull clothes that
The Various Types Of Transitions
The 4 types of transitions are
Emotional personal experiences such as parent s separating, bereavement, beginning
or leaving a place of care.
Physical change in environments
Intellectual maturation, moving from one educational establishment to another.
Physiological puberty or medical conditions.
Moving into a new nursery or classroom is a big transition for children like getting a
new teacher, class mates, class, new room and way of working.
New faces, unknown personalities, lack of knowledge about who provides support
will impacts on a child s confidence, ability to interact, be comfortable and relax.
This maybe heightened if children are older, teacher is unknown, fear that knocking
will direct unwanted attention to themselves may prevent a child wanting to go
/perform this type of task or be unwilling to enter the room they may become quiet,
withdraw and refuse to participate when asked for volunteers. Positive relationships
can support children across the school by adults making themselves known to
children. Personalities, attitude and approach will reassure the children on the type of
support they could expect.
A permanent, new class environment offers the opportunity to experience different
layouts, places where resources are kept and resource items themselves. Positive
relationships can reassure children that access is the same as they re already used to.
A tour of the new room and its facilities will help familiarise everyone with what s
Tony Brown Observation
I observed a two year old male child; I will be referring to him as Tony Brown. The
project I think went pretty well. The observation took place at his home while his
mother was present. Tony Brown is a Hispanic male; he is a cute little kid. My
topic is how Tony Brown uses language to interact with his environment and I
observed how he did. I observed him at his home, the second floor of an apartment
complex. I was in the living room while he roamed freely, while I watched how he
interacted with his environment and how he used languageto get his mother s
attention. Present at the time was Tony Brown, his mother and I. There were no other
children so he would interact with his toys or other objects that were around him.

He has an understanding of how to put sentences together because he tries to, but
the words do not fully make sense to other people. Tony Brown does things like
any other two year old at his age he plays with toys, loves his mother, and gets
distracted easily. For example, when it was time for the activity he had
unfortunately became distracted. The activity I chose to do was to see if he could
identify a set of flashcards that had colors and shapes on them. I wanted to see if
the child could say both what the color was and also say the shape that was
associated with the color. I was trying to test not only his language abilities, but his
ability to differentiate between the color and the shape. When I tried to administer
the activity he kind of just looked at me and continued to play with his toys or
something else. I finally got him to actually engage in the activity afterwards, which
was great, but he still wasn t fully engaged with it. Tony Brown knew most of the
colors and spoke them, but not completely clear. After a while I could eventually
make out the word he was trying to say. He also knew the shapes, but when he saw a
circle he said ball , or he just said the corresponding color instead of the shape. The
thing that I saw was that he could distinguish the color purple very well and he said
it very clearly and I thought that was interesting because it was his mother s favorite
color. In conclusion, Tony Brown is a smart kid who is
The Marshall Islands On Its Surface
INTRODUCTIONThe Marshall Islands on its surface is a paradise waiting to be
discovered. The atolls, only 7 meters average above sea level, offer beautiful vistas
and eye catching sea life to tourists from all over. History though offers a different
story to tell us. This is one not of vistas and paradise but of war, and nuclear bombs.
The Marshall Islandsholds in its lands some of the great stories of human expansion
in prehistoric times, colonization during the European exploration era, and of human
endurance in World War II and beyond. Looking through the past, present, and future
of the Marshall Islands its clear all is not what it appears to be on the surface.
GEOGRAPHY The Marshall Island archipelago chain of 30 atolls and 1,152
islands is located in the mid pacific sharing boarders with Micronesia to its west.
The nearly 370 km of coastline have drawn many tourists to these islands as well as
a rich diverse ecosystem of marine animals. Recently the local government declared
the entire 2,000,000 square km of Marshall Islands seas to become a shark sanctuary
as many have been attracted to the flourishing sea life in the area. The islands
themselves are divided into two groups based on location. The Ratak Chain, meaning
sunrise, to the east is home to atolls such as, Maloelap, Utirik, and Majuro, the capital
of the country. While the Railik Chain, which means sunset, contains atolls such as

Thematic Essay: Fences
In the play, Fences by August Wilson, Troy Maxson was a man with many good
intentions but wrong choices. Troy was simply trying to do whatever he thought
was right. He was stubborn, persistent and in some ways selfish. Most of all Troy
was very domineering. Despite everyone s warnings and advice he still continued to

Troy s actions portrays his need to control everyone s life.
Troy s relationship with his youngest son, Cory, was a prime example or his

available to first year s students. The students are able to learn about civic issues like
poverty and how Gettysburg College works with the issue and community. As a
member of Gettysburg College, I have volunteered with CPS in many capacities and
have done the povertysimulation as a first year. I also choose this engagement
because I have volunteered or participated in it every year except when I was
abroad. This opportunity also allowed me to complete five of my required hours for
my sorority and service fraternity. At the end, GIV day I an amazing way to get
involved on campus, and be reminds about key issues that affect the community and
world.
First year students will come to the College Union Buildings Ballroom on the Friday
of Orientation with little to no idea what they are going to experience for half of the
day. They will be assigned a discussion table, a community group number, and a
poverty simulation table number. The day is spit up in half, where for the first half of
the students will go to the community site and the other will go through the poverty
simulation. After both are done, the group will switch.
The students in the poverty simulation are divided into tables, which becomes
families, and their goal is to survive the four weeks. Surviving includes going to

/18/16 Chapter 3: Define corporate responsibility (CSR). Describe the benefits.
Why do some executives support CSR while others find it troublesome and argue
against it? Corporate social responsibility is what a company uses to self regulate
itself and refers to business practices involving initiatives that benefit society. A
business s CSR can encompass a wide variety of tactics, from giving away a
portion of a company s proceeds to charity and implementing greener business
operations. Companies use implement Corporate Social responsibilities for various
reasons and this can be argued. Large corporations have a more reasons for CSR to
protect their image Corporate social benefits also have many different benefits for
the company. One of the primary reasons companies use CSR is to preserve the
environment. Many large corporations have had bad track records in the past when
it comes to pollution and a business no matter how large has a large carbon
footprint. Even if the smallest amount of effort is used in order to reduce the
amount of damage they do to the environment is good and that s why we see CSR
being implemented. For a long stretch of time companies in the United States of
America have been destroying the earth slowly by cutting down forests, polluting
water ways and disposing of garbage in large amounts in the ocean. Now that these
companies have been under attack by the people and

Since the world began man has been obsessed with finding a source of energy that
is renewable and efficient in making for the benefit of building, transportation,
agriculture, and so many other different venues that it cannot be listed. I am
talking about oil the black substance made from millions of years of decomposition
of animals and plants. The pressure and time eventually transforms dead organisms
into an energy that can be used to power automobiles, lights, boats, construction
equipment, and the list goes on and on. With all of the oil that our wonderful earth
has created our government has created an institution that helps regulate and
control our oil and gas industry. The IPAA has a great history and purpose by
practicing their rights as an organization to represent the people of the oil industry.
About 2 years ago my interest in oil sparked when a man I had known for my
whole life began his own business as a hydrostatic tube tester. Pretty soon I joined
him in working the long days in the oil field and quickly absorbed all the
information he knew. From owning an oil lease to fixing the seating nipple at the
end of a well pump I learned quickly what this line of work was all about. So when
asked about an interest group to write about I wanted to do something involving the
oil industry since I was fairly knowledgeable about it and I
Reasonabl Reasonable Suspicion In Law Enforcement
Probable cause and reasonable suspicion in law enforcement are important terms
used as a guideline to police offers or law enforcement agencies (Lushbaugh, 2012).
Each officer is required to deal with every circumstance in light of the reasonable
justification. Law enforcement officers and agencies are usually required to
determine if there is sensible doubt or probable cause that can lead them to
performing and taking part of certain actions in regards to a specific criminal
circumstance. Probable cause is characterized as the activities or actions that are
obvious and directs towards being part of evidence. The confirmation of evidence is
acquired and obtained rationally in which will provide the officer with the
knowledge of knowing one has committed a crime. According to the Fourth
Amendment 1791, a warrant is only issued when there is a probable cause for arrest
of a suspect (Lushbaugh, 2012).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, the officer exercises perseverance and great skills, uses intuition or
belief that there is a crime committed or about to be committed (Lushbaugh, 2012).
The law enforcement officer stops and approaches the possible suspect
investigates he/she in public or in their place of residence. However, to assure
safety, if the suspect happens to have possession of a weapon or illegal item, the
officer performs a search known as pat down . Reasonable suspicion in criminal
cases is followed by an elaborate and extensive investigation to prove the suspicion
through concrete evidence before conviction of a suspect (Lushbaugh, 2012).
Probable cause within criminal cases often leads to search warrants and a gathering
of evidence as proof to make a conviction of the

The Crucible Of Life Has Provided Me With An...
Reading The Crucible of Life has provided me with an epistemological system to
begin my journey into serious theological contemplation. I have thoroughly enjoyed
thinking about the interrelationship of reason, experience, and scripture. Foremost,
the relationship of reason and experience has proved highly. Understanding the
ways in which reason and experience relate to each other is a tricky concept indeed
and it is one that I look to in order to discern the process of learning in general. It is
this process that allows learning to occur.
Also, this process must begin at some point. This point, as suggested by Wesley,
begins with the authoritative information of scripture for trans sensory understanding
and it has been interesting for me ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I do not buy into this distinction and I do believe that an authoritative canon
adequately deals with the interaction problem. Any further questions about reality
itself do not effect us and, therefore, are meaningless to us.
Additionally, the realization of an overly pragmatic theology found in chapter
nineteen proved interesting; especially in consideration of Wesley s Experiential
Theology. We mustn t become overly skeptical in our beliefs if we wish to discover
as many new ideas that we possibly can. In this case, the best option would be the
option that does not rule out an option unless logical necessity urges otherwise. We
must remain consistent in our analysis of the hermeneutical spiral if we wish to
continue through it in an appropriate, reasonable way. This sort of idea holds true for
any hermeneutical process, but it is especially significant in the method that Wesley
offers because of its reliance on correct understanding for scriptural, and then
experiential, interpretation. Improper interpretation can lead to drastically false
beliefs if carried on for too long.
Correspondingly, we must apply the most accurate and consistent experience in order
to receive the results that more accurately point towards truth in Wesley s system. So,
if we wish to perform Wesley s method in the most probable fashion to produce truth
known to humankind, we must provide the hermeneutical process with the
Carrie Buck
An Analysis on Stephan Jay Gould Buck versus Bell 274 U.S. 2000 (1927) was the
United States Supreme Court ruling that upheld a statue instituting compulsory
sterilization of the unfit, including the mentally retarded for the protection and health
of the state. (Holmes) It was largely seen as an endorsement of negative eugenics
which is the attempt of science to improve the human race by eliminating
defectives from the gene pool. (Elof) Paul Lombardo argues (in N.Y.U. Law
Review, April 1985, 60(30):30 62) that the Buck case was a milestone in
government power over individual rights. (Lambardo) In his essay Carrie Buck s

Gould also made a reference to the ballad Barbara Allen . The ballad was about
two lovers who were united only in their deaths which is similar to what has
happened to the mother and child in the Buck case. Carrie and Vivian Buck were
reunited when they were already dead. Gould s tone during this part was a person
who mourns as if the two people were related to him. He was so disappointed in
what happened in their lives and was disappointed that because of the injustice done
by the government we see the end of the Buck lineage with Vivian.
Stephen Jay Gould is one unique writer. What distinguishes Gould from other
writers is that he has taken his work beyond academia and into everyday life. He
takes certain aspects of information in history or in any topic that appeal to a
general audience and makes them relevant to the here and now. Gould uses his
unique style to condense the key contributions of influential figures into a single
essay. He also uses his own seemingly mundane experiences to make larger points.
In this essay, one could see that readers will be enthralled to read from the very
first page. He uses ordinary language but this does not mean that the depth of his
words and thoughts would suffer. One can also see that he uses different
perspectives in looking at the problem and not just contained in his expertise. He
definitely succeeded in this persuasion essay if what he really wants was to open the
eyes of the public
Racism, Sexism, And Sexism Essay
Everywhere I go, I see people wearing a multitude of different clothing, it s
something all humans do, we all have our own way of dressing. I get judged based
on the things I wear, just how people are judged based on their race. What people
wear can say a lot about them and make others act or think a certain way. Clothes can
show the wearer s thoughts, social status, enjoyments, jobs, and even more. People
can often figure these things out just based on their clothes without even thinking
about it. However, assumptions and stereotypes of any kind can be highly inaccurate.
Clothism is as real as racismand sexism. Judging people based on the clothes they
wear is the same as judging people based on their race. One thing that can be
gathered about someone based on their clothes is their opinions. Political shirts
saying to vote a certain way reflect the wearer s political views. If someone wears a
shirt that says Vote for Pedro, they re probably voting for Pedro themselves and
want to sway others to vote the same way. A shirt that has a musician s name on it
shows that the wearer likes their music. A jersey or hat of a sports team shows that
they like that sport and team. I ve worn political shirts for campaigns before. I ve
worn different artists shirts. I wear shirts of teams and schools. Wearing these
clothing items was to show others my thoughts and opinions of the topics. Similar to
how people dress, a person s racecan often times give leway to their opinions.
Crickets Hypothesis
The null hypothesis of this experiment was that there would be no significant
difference in preference by crickets between environment with cinnamon and without
cinnamon. The result showed that as the time increase the crickets movement actual
become more stable. There is an equal net force of movement from one side of the
chamber to another. To test the significance of these findings, a Chi Square analysis
was performed. According to the Chi Square statistic, the null hypothesisshould be
accepted because the Chi square value (4.50) is less than the critical value (11.07),
thus making the cinnamon having very little effect on the crickets movement. Even
the control group yields similar result, that there is no difference of the sides that
Neural Crest Cells Essay
Neural crest cells are transient vertebral cell types, which form at the boundary
between the neural plate and surface ectoderm. They are multipotent and able to
migrate and differentiate into numerous derivatives resulting in them being referred
to as the fourth germ layer . It is thought that the evolution of vertebrates is due to
large scale genome duplications which occurred early in the vertebrate lineage.
Research suggests that there were two rounds of genome duplication during early
vertebrate evolution. However, there is an alternative research model which suggests
that in stem vertebrates there was a single round of duplication, followed by lineage
specific segmental duplications in cyclostomes and jawed vertebrates. Despite... Show

There is also evidence to suggest that the fate of neural crest cells depends upon their
migratory path in the trunk which is dictated by somites. Cells which migrate early
move ventrally and pass through the anterior half sclerotome, form the sensory
ganglia. Cells which are more dorsal within the anterior sclerotome form the sensory
neurons and glia of the dorsal root ganglia, partly due to signals which come from the
neural tube. Alternatively, the neural crest cells which migrate late travel laterally
between the somite and the ectoderm, forming melanocytes in amniotes. It is thought
that the increased complexity in vertebrate neuroanatomy may stem from interactions
between neural crest cells and other cell types. An example of this is the essential
role of neural crest cells in the expansion of the head and formation of a true neck .
Neural crest cells are thought to be crucial in multiple stages of cranial mesoderm
development and secrete signals which depress myogenesis, consequently allowing
the formation of cranial myofibres. Research has suggested that these distinct
myogenic regulatory sub networks arose in early vertebrates. The formation of a true
neck is a result of the pectoral girdle losing its attachment to the skull, and allowed
tetrapods to colonise land as they could now move their head independent of limbs.

Mark Twain Thesis
Samuel L. Clemens Many people have read books by the famous author Mark
Twain. A few of his most famous novels are The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,
Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and Jim Smiley and his Jumping Frog. Hearing the
name Mark Twain rings a bell, but surprisingly, that is not the author s real name.
His given name is Samuel Clemens. Samuel Langhorne Clemens was born
November 30, 1835, in Florida, Missouri, and he was the sixth child of John and
Jane Clemens. His father was always searching for wealth, but he never achieved it,
and he often times found it hard to feed his family. He had many jobs, and he was a

became a reporter for the Virginia City Territorial Enterprise, where he adopted the
pen name Mark Twain. That is steamboat slang for 12 feet of water. Mark Twain
became one of the best storytellers in the West, and he had this distinct writing
style, where everything was funny and friendly, but also scornful, ironic, and
sarcastic. He wrote Jim Smiley and his Jumping Frog, earning his big break. His
next jump into success came from his cruise along the Mediterranean, where he
wrote humorously for newspaper, also hoping to get a book out of the trip. At the
age of 34, he published The Innocents Abroad, and he became a best selling author.
Twain s stories are shaped by life experiences. Some influences come from
Hannibal, where he saw how slaves and Native Americans were treated. Huck Finn
is an orphan who travels with a freed slave named Jim. Another experience, such as
the fact that his father and a few of his siblings died when he was young, shaped his
writing of Huckleberry Finn. Young Huck Finn experiences death at a young

Poetry has always had a common theme where lovers are portrayed as goddess
like, based on their beauty and love. However, in William Shakespeare s Sonnet
130, written as an English sonnet, the speaker has a different vision, as he realizes
that his lover s beauty cannot be compared to that of a goddess, nor can it be found
in nature for she is just a typical human being. His love for her is eventually shown,
but without the use of the clichГ© image of beauty. Shakespeare s use of metaphors,
contrast, language and structure demonstrates that love is complicated and that real
beauty is unrealistic and impossible to live up to. Since this poem is an anti love
poem, the speaker is describing ways in which his lover doesn t properly fit into these

The use of the word heaven shows indication that his love for his mistress is higher
than any of the comparisons that he has previously mocked in order to describe
her (Shakespeare 13). The speaker notes that, beyond all of his mistress
imperfections, his love is as rare/As any she belied with false compare
(Shakespeare 13 14). With that being said, it is clear to the reader that, although
she has fallen short to society s vision of perfection, his love for her is endless and
he accepts her for who she is. The speaker proves to the reader that he doesn t need
the assistance from false comparisons, such as comparing her eyes to the sun, to
show just how much he loves her. The word false in line 14 could suggest that the
women described with qualities such as red lips and rosy cheeks aren t accurately
depicted. The speaker recognizes that a women s body should not resemble the
images stated in the earlier lines, so the truth is being used to describe his lover, as
opposed to using false
The Rockwell Collins Satellite Transportable Terminal
The Rockwell Collins Satellite Transportable Terminal (STT) is an important satellite
for the signal branch that is used to make communications virtually anywhere. A
suspension system needs to be put into the STT so that it will not be damaged while
being loaded and transported. There are three shock systems available with different
spring constants and dampingcoefficients. The three shock systems are called Air
Coasters, Cloud Riders, and Extreme Shocks. A HMMWV was being tested when it
began bouncing up and down, so the soldiers operating the vehicle shut it down for
fear of it breaking down. Some engineers re fired the gun so they could take
measurements of its displacement from the ground in order to understand what was
happening, but they only took measurements for 60 seconds before they shut it down.
Free Dampened System Loading the Trailer The suspension system can be modeled
using the following equation: m (d^2 x)/(dt^2 )+ОІ dx/dt+kx=f(t) x(t) is the
displacement from its rest position in meters, m is the mass of the object in
kilograms, ОІ is the damping constant in kg/second, k is the spring constant in kg
/sec2, and f(t) is the external force in Newtons (N). The mass of the satellite is
1800 kg and the satellite is at equilibrium when the trailer is loaded. Before the
trailer is loaded, the displacement of the shocks is 0.05 meters, so the starting
displacement is 0.05. The critically damped value of each shock is calculated in

In developed and emerging markets, derivatives markets are used for speculation,
investment and hedging price risk. Generally, derivatives markets have low
transaction cost as compared to spot markets which led more participation and
should play an important role in price dissemination process. The three important
roles of derivatives products are as follows: п‚·

1.2. About Derivatives Markets
There are various types of derivatives products traded on exchanges across the
world. They range from the very simple to the most complex products. The following
are the three basic forms of derivatives:
1.2.1 Forwards
A forwards contract is a contract between both buyer and seller of an asset which
agrees to a predetermined date and price on which the contract will be executed.
The future date and price is been agreed on the date on which the contract was
made. The future decided date is called as expiry date and the pre decided price is
called forward price. Forwards contracts are private contracts which are only traded
in Over the Counter (OTC) market. The terms of the

Ronald Reag The President Of The United States
Introduction
Ronald Reagan (1911 2004) was the 40th president of the United States of America
from January 20, 1981 to January 20, 1989. He was a Republican and served two
terms in office. He is considered by many people as one of the greatest presidents in
American history. Section 1 of this paper begins by explaining why Reagan is
considered a great president by many people, and also gives some background
information on the state of the economy he had inherited. Section 2 reflects on
Reagan s domestic record, in particular three negative economic consequences that
resulted from his policies and occurred during his presidency. Section 3 considers
two aspects of Reagan s foreign policy: the US invasion of Grenada, and the Iran
Contra ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are five main reasons why Reagan is admired by large segments of the
American public. Firstly, he is considered to have been a staunch patriot and a
charismatic leader (Spinrad, 1991). These qualities were needed in a president at the
time due to the influence of the Soviet Union and the threat of communism. It was
also important due to Americans being demoralised from the failure in Vietnam.
Secondly, the six months leading up to the end of his second term were characterised
by increased cooperation with the Soviet Union s Mikhail Gorbachev to reform the
union. It eventually resulted in the total collapse of the Soviet Union and Reagan is
credited for assisting in the eradication of the communist threat. The third, and more
controversial reason for Reagan s popularity, is the Ronald Reagan Legacy Project
funded by conservative Americans (Norquist, n.d.). The project aims to instil the
legacy of Reagan by lobbying to name buildings, roads, and landmarks after the
president. This boosts the image and prestige of the president in the eyes of the
people, especially for people who did not live during his presidency or do not know
much about him.
The fourth reason for Reagan s popularity is that he is perceived to have drastically
improved the US economy and lives of Americans. One of the ways to understand
this is by comparing the shape of the US economy when he took office to its shape
when he left. The US
The Evolution Of The 1960s Protest Song
The evolution of the 1960s protest song has typically been associated with Joni
Mitchell, but the expanding range of protest songs in the 1970s defines her
continued presence as a leader in terms of environmental activism. More than just a
vestige of the late 1960s, Mitchell continued to write protest songs long after many
other artists from the 1960s had changed their lyrical content. In the mellow turn of
early 1970s country rock and folk music, Mitchell represented a new environmental
shift that moved away from the proto typical antiwar songs of the 1960s. Mitchell,
along with other musicians of this era, defined a shifting musical focus on
songwriting and musical presentation during the early 1970as:
The early to mid 1970s would become known for a mellow turn toward country rock,
production heavy supergroups, and envieronmental songs like Big Yellow Taxi
(1970). Even the Beach Boys took their turn at envieronmental critique, releasing Don
t Go Near the Water in 1971 (Weglarz xviii).
In this musical critique, the soft rock appeal of Mitchell s song represented a shift
away from the hard rock sound of the 1960s, but with the gritty directness of lyrics
that challenged the chemical pollution of DDT usage in modern farming techniques.
The hard edge of envieronmental critiques was certain masked by the gentle nature of
Mitchell s voice, but the reality of chemical engineering as a threat to the
environment is interjected through her flowing melodic structures:
Chip Conley Essay
As mentioned in the video, Chip Conley managed to change a small hotel
restaurant in San Francisco into Joie de Vivre the world second largest boutique
hotel chain by providing new superior value to customers. The first thing
contribute to Chip Conley s success is his belief in the Maslow s hierarchy of
needs. Chip Conley built a strong foundation for his hotel by providing good
services satisfying consumer s basic needs, such as: comfortable beds and clean
rooms, security guards, locks, responsive staff service. Then, he elevated his hotel
value and provided excellent experience for the people, including the customers and
staffs. Joie de Vivre s business model is based on understanding the needs and
demands of the existing consumers and future consumers and establishing changes to
the model in order to meet and surpass their expectation. Chip Conley s business
model doesn t just revolve around customers but it also concerns employees as well.
During the recession, Chip Conley and the managementlevel took some

In the early 1980s, other chain hotels segmented their markets by demographic
factors, such as: age, income, race... Chip Conley, however, took a step further by
focusing on psychographics aspect such as: personal traits, interest, lifestyles of the
guests. Chip Conley s target market was middle income guests who wanted a
reasonably priced hotel that had style and good services. He wanted to attract
customers who had cool and funky lifestyles, specifically the bands. We can see from
the video that he designed his hotel with decoration and activities that fitted the funky
theme perfectly. Chip Conley chose his target market and designed his hotel
according to that market; that was the reason why his guests felt the Joie de Vivre
was the place where they belonged and they kept coming
What Chemistry Means to Me
What chemistry means to me and how it impacts upon my life
From the foods we eat and the medicines we take to the products we regularly use,
our lives are inextricably linked to chemicals and their operating principles.
Chemistry is everywhere. The air we breathe, the ground we stand on, the seas we
sail, and the variety of living things including our own bodies; all these are made of
substances that we call chemicals. These chemicals interact with one another, and, in
many cases, these interactions produce new substances through processes known as
chemical reactions. Over time, in high school I have learned much about chemicals
and have mastered numerous chemical reactions, giving me the ability to modify
existing substances and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even the gas and tires in cars we drive, the makeup we put on our faces, the soaps
and cleaners used every day, burning wood or other fossil fuels, chemistry is all
around you each and every day. Chemistry is really an amazing subject and works
hand in hand with all the other sciences to make things work. According to Don
Showalter he stated that each of these reactions between substances illustrates a
concept of the way matter behaves. According to Roald Hoffmann matter is neither
created nor destroyed.
Research and deduce from your findings which use of metals came first was it for
weaponry or jewelry
From my research that I have done there is no historical documentation, but the most
likely metals are copper and gold because they are both comparatively easy to find
as natural ores, and are both soft enough to use without forging equipment. Both
metals were used by many ancient cultures for jewelry and decorative uses; copper
was also used for simple tools. Copper is perhaps one of the most important
elements for mankind, both due to its multiple uses and to its capacity to replace
iron in many cases. Starting with making objects out of copper and continuing, as
mankind progressed, with its use as a good electricity conductor and building
material, copper was part of everyday life ever since the copper age. Even today s
world, despite new discoveries that brought about artificially made
Why A Toilet Bubbles When Flushed
There are a lot of problems that a home owner might experience over the course of
homeownership. One of the most perplexing and demanding issues is home
maintenance. Of course, the owner would like to keep their home in top condition.
However, things happen. Certainly, the bathroom is one room that has a lot of
issues. Owner s face things like bad pipes, leaky faucets, leaking toilets. One issue
that seems to pop up all the time is a toilet bubbles when flushed. Certainly, it is
extremely difficult to ignore a toilet that dispenses huge bubbles with each flush.
Why A Toilet Bubbles When Flushed A toilet that bubbles when flushed is a major
issue. The toilet is not working properly and diminishes the power of the flush. This

This is the belief that you can somehow communicate with the dead for example.
Because this is specific to a person that you cannot observe (their dead), you have no

4)The parody religion called The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster uses a very
interesting correlation between pirates and natural disasters:
You may be interested to know that global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and
other natural disasters are a direct result of the shrinking numbers of Pirates since the
1800s. As you can see, there is a statistically significant inverse relationship between
pirates and global temperature. http://www.venganza.org/
Can the scientific method be used to test the claim that disasters are caused by the
declining number of pirates? Be specific as to why or why not, and if so, how would
this be done? (6 points)
This claim cannot be tested by the scientific method. It is making a claim that is
anecdotal.
To design a scientific experiment you need to be able to have an independent
variable, dependent variable and a controlled variable. With their assumption the
global warming would be the dependent variable that is being changed by the
number of pirates decreasing. The independent variable would be what you are
changing. We can t control the number of pirates in the world
Fate In Macbeth Research Paper
Fate in MacBeth The subject of fate contains much controversy, because for many the
topic relates to areas of strong, personal opinions such as religion or culture. For
centuries, people have believed in fate. Others, have denied the existence and believe
that people control their own destinies. In the 17th Century tragedy MacBeth,
William Shakespeare shows how fate can lead to unfortunate events when people
become too greedy about achieving their destiny. Thereby, Shakespeare demonstrates
that people can not overpower fate, they can only wait for the fulfillment, whether
good or bad.
People who believe in fate wonder how much a higher power predetermines their
destiny. If chance will have me king, why, chance may/crown me/Without my stir
(I.iv.157 159). Shakespeare raises questions about the extent that MacBeth
manipulates his actions. Some people would argue that MacBeth s fate includes his
homicidal actions, and his will cannot change the witches prophecy. Others contradict
that belief by saying that MacBeth s own will leads to his fate, and ultimate death,
coming sooner than predicted. Which fate and ... Show more content on

Thou marshal st me the way that I was going,/And such an instrument I was to use
(II.i.54 55). Shakespeare uses MacBeth s hallucination to show the lingering guilt
within him. He conveys an idea that possibly, the ends do not justify the means. The
guilt results from MacBeth s subconscious knowing that MacBeth should have
waited to see where fate would lead him. I am afraid to think what I have done./Look
on t again I dare not (II.ii.66 67). Shakespeare creates feelings of remorse to show that
people should not interfere with fate by using their own means. Essentially,
Shakespeare wants to point out blemishes in the Machiavellian Rule. Although the
means can speed up the end, unrighteous actions lead to a guilt

THE LINK BETWEEN STOCK PRICES AND THE ECONOMY
Economic theory proposes that there should be a strong link between economic
activity and stock prices, given that its price is the discounted present value of the
firm s payout. If this payout is finally a function of real activity, such a link should
exist.
There are several theoretical propositions suggesting how stock prices can have a
direct impact on economic output, which further strengthens the link amongst these
two variables.
1.The first link was proposed by Tobin in 1969. The focus is on the impact that
share prices have on the cost of capital. The coefficient that captures this is called
Tobin s Q, which is given by the ratio of market value of current capital to the cost
of replacement capital. When the prices of shares are high, the value of the firm to
the replacement cost of its capital is also high i.e., the Tobin s Q is also high.
Furthermore, this leads to rise in investment expenditure and thus causes a rise in the
aggregate economic output as for firms it is easier to finance their investment
expenditures. This is because investment would be simpler as it would require a
lower share offering in a situation of a higher price for
Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis
Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis: Biologics
A critique of an article published by The New York Times suggests a Breakthrough in
treatment for joint pain of patients suffering from Rheumatoid arthritis. The article
suggests that a drug known as a Biologic taken with Methotrexate may effectively
treat pain and swelling symptoms caused by Rheumatoid Arthritis. Before critiquing
the article, it is necessary to discuss the anatomy and physiology of Rheumatoid
Arthritis so you may have a better understanding of the disease and the possible
treatments. Rheumatoid Arthritis is classified as an autoimmune disease; it is a
chronic inflammatory disorder in which the immune system attacks the tissues of the
synovial joints of the individual who is suffering from the disease (Marieb and Hoehn
2013). The attacks cause inflammation to the synovial joints; the onset of
inflammation brings both pain and swelling to the joint (Marieb and Hoehn 2013).
Inflammatory cells appear in the joint cavity of the synovial joint and release
inflammatory chemicals that destroy the body tissue at the joint (Marieb and Hoehn
2013). The disease is bilateral, meaning that if it affects a joint on one side of the
body, for example the left wrist; chances are that it will affect the same joint on the
opposite side of the body (Marieb and Hoehn 2013). Rheumatoid Arthritis is
characterized by flare ups in which the synovial joint swells due to the inflammatory
chemicals destroying tissue in the synovial

Essay About Schools

  • 1. Essay About Schools Crafting an essay on the topic of schools may initially seem like a straightforward task, given the abundance of information available. However, as one delves deeper into the subject, the complexity becomes apparent. The challenge lies not only in compiling facts and figures but in presenting a coherent narrative that captures the multifaceted nature of the educational system. To begin with, the topic "Schools" encompasses a vast array of subtopics, each demanding its share of attention. From the historical evolution of education to the intricacies of modern pedagogical approaches, the essay must navigate through diverse realms. Balancing between addressing overarching concepts and delving into specific aspects, such as curriculum design, teacher-student dynamics, and the impact of technology, requires a delicate touch. Moreover, the essay must strike a balance between objectivity and personal reflection. While statistical data and research findings provide a solid foundation, infusing the essay with a personal touch can elevate it beyond mere information dissemination. This requires a nuanced understanding of the subject, where the writer must navigate the fine line between advocacy and critique. The challenge is not only in presenting a well-informed perspective but also in avoiding the pitfalls of oversimplification. Schools are dynamic entities influenced by societal, cultural, and economic factors. A comprehensive essay should reflect this dynamism while avoiding the trap of generalization. Navigating through the nuances of educational policy, social equity, and the diverse experiences of students adds layers of complexity to the writing process. Furthermore, crafting a compelling essay requires a skillful play with language. Achieving clarity without sacrificing depth, maintaining a coherent structure, and engaging the reader throughout the exploration of various aspects demand a high level of linguistic proficiency. The writer must carefully select words, employ effective transitions, and ensure the logical flow of ideas. In conclusion, writing an essay about schools involves more than just compiling information; it is a delicate dance between facts and interpretation, objectivity and subjectivity, and simplicity and complexity. It requires a writer to navigate through the diverse facets of education, providing insights that go beyond surface-level observations. Ultimately, it is a challenging endeavor that demands a deep understanding of the subject matter and a mastery of the art of essay writing. • 2. A Short Note On Opioid Control And Opioid Controlled Drug Diamorphine is used for pain control and known as an opioid Controlled Drug [CD], acting by blocking pain signals to the brain (BNF, 2015; NICE, 2016). Opioid medication is licenced for the management of moderate to severe pain however, long term use can cause reliance of the drug yet when used to treat a terminal illness, there are no restrictions (Knott, 2013; Nice, 2016). Morphine s most common side effects include nausea and vomiting, sedation, constipation, hypotension and sweating however, it can cause hallucinations which are important in the management of anxiety in palliative care (Everyday Health, 2016; Mann Carr, 2009). Diamorphine causes less nausea and hypotension than morphine and the focus in palliative care is painmanagement which is more effective when avoiding pain, than in the relief of pain (Cancer Research UK, 2015). Levomepromazine is Prescription Only Medication [POM] usually known as an antipsychotic drug {tranquillizer} however, it can also be used as an antiemetic drug to control nausea and vomiting (BNF, 2015; NHS Scotland, 2014). There are many antiemetic drugs used to treat nausea and vomiting however, some work on the brain by stopping the stimulation of the vomiting centre, whilst others work on the gut emptying the stomach contents at a faster rate (Macmillan Cancer Support, 2013). An antiemetic drug is chosen according to the causes of the vomiting and in Jacobs s case it is a known side effect of taking Diamorphine. The most common side
  • 3. Self Antigen Essay Due to the absence of self antigen presentation in the thymus [36], or the low affinity of T cells for self antigens [37], autoreactive T cells escape sometimes from thymic negative selection. To complete the efficacy of central tolerance, the immune system developed many tools to neutralize these cells and avoid autoimmune diseases. These mechanisms are either passive, concerning antigen ignorance, T cell anergy or apoptosis induction and phenotypic skewing, or active when mediated by regulatory cells [38]. Antigen ignorance allows autoreactive T cells to persist as functional circulating T cells while never primed by any antigen [39]. Indeed, antigens can be masked by anatomical barriers like lens proteins, spermatozoids, or nervous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without CD28/ CD80 CD86 engagement, interactions between TCRs and alloantigens induce the anergy of T cells. CTLA 4 (CD152) has a large structural homology with CD28 and interacts with CD80 CD86 with better affinity than CD28 molecule and functions as a negative regulator of T cell activation [56]. The expression of these two molecules regulates the balance between activation and inhibition of T cells and allows the control of an over reaction of the immune system leading to inflammation or autoimmunity [57]. Similarly, the expression of Programmed Death 1 (PD 1) after antigenic stimulation and interaction with its ligand PDL 1 reduces IL 2 synthesis and induces T cell anergy [58]. Another important co stimulatory pathway is the CD40/CD40L co stimulatory pathway. The CD40 molecule is a transmembrane protein that Tolerance in Organ Transplantation http://dx.doi.org/10.5772/62653 51 belongs to the TNF receptor family. It is expressed on vascular endothelial cells [59], activated DCs [60], monocytes/macrophages, platelets [61] and B lymphocytes [62]. The CD40L, also called CD154, exists in soluble form or at the cell membrane [63]. It is expressed on activated CD4+ T cells, basophiles, eosinophils [64], DCs from the blood [65], endothelial cells, macro‐ phages
  • 4. Personal Theory Paper Personal Theory Paper In partial fulfillment of the assignment submitted to Dr. Max Mills PACO 507 Theology and Spirituality in Counseling Lynn C. Ball Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary May 8, 2015 Abstract I stumbled through the first thirty eight years of life attempting to mask the hurts caused by myself and others. I was my own worst critic fueled by raging addictions and chaos; searching to find a perfection that could never be achieved. Life was a hurricane of madness and at the center of that storm was the Father waiting for me to give Him my whole heart. The purpose of this paper is to show through those who have been studied, the textbooks that have been read and my own opinions; the counseling methods and ... Additionally, Pastoral counseling can be both distinctively pastoral and psychologically informed. This occurs when it takes the identity from the rich tradition of Christian soul care and integrates appropriate insights of modern therapeutic psychology... (Benner, 2003, p.14). ). The primary goal lies with change; and our change is stemmed by our reliance upon the Father for change and healing and through Jesus Christ [who] is the only all sufficient and perfect healer for hurt people (Wilson, 2001, p. 14). b. Development of Problems and Personal Need How do the issues come about? Dr. Sandra D. Wilson (2001) asks, Have you ever felt as if you were the only caterpillar in a butterfly world? Do you often feel as if you have to do twice as much to be half as good as other (p. 16)? If you answered, yes, then that is what Wilson (2001) calls binding shame. Shame is the soul deep belief that something is horribly wrong with me that is not wrong with anyone else in the entire world. If I am bound by shame, I feel hopelessly, distinguishingly different and worthless (p. 16). Problems and needs develop from this binding shame and events in our lives; childhood hurts, traumas, bad relationships, and poor coping skills which we allow to shape and define us. Emotions, which are the feelings we
  • 5. Ancient Egyptian Art Research Paper Long time ago in a galaxy far far away, back in the olden times of ancient civilizations, art and culture was essential to the lore, society, and survivability of a civilization. Although often differing in style, forms, and mediums, these art works /pieces contributed deeply and truly to the importance of civilization. They always had a purpose and meaning behind them. In ancient Egyptian times. The Egyptians would create exquisite works of art to place into their temples, tombs, and other such religious structures. The Egyptians were completely sold on the idea of Eternal life. You could even say they were obsessed with this idea of eternal life. Because of this, we find today that all of their art, writing, and music revolved around
  • 6. Paper On The Last Supper As we near the end of the semester, it is important to reflect back on what was discussed and learned. We have viewed many pieces of work over the last few months including relatively old pieces as well as modern ones. With everything in life, one will develop their personal opinion on the matter. With that being said, I have chosen two pieces of work to contemplate: one being positive and one being negative. There were many pieces throughout the semester that I could develop a positive or even a negative response to, however, the following are my top two pieces in each aspect. The Last Supper, which was created by Leonardo da Vinci in 1498, can easily be considered as one of the most famous paintings to this day. I chose this work to serve as my positive response simply because in my opinion there is not a single... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The painting is absolutely beautiful in terms of visual aspects. Leonardo used a one point perspective to effectively accentuate the center of the painting, which is most obviously Jesus Christ. Not only does he put the vanishing point at Christ s head, but he creates a triangle with his body that no other object overlaps. He uses contrast to light up the middle of the painting while making the edges much darker. All of these create a powerful image of Jesus. Not only do I like the painting for it s beautiful visual aspects but it s emotional beauty. It doesn t necessarily make me sad. It more so opens my eyes to the reality of the story. The painting was designed to be different from the previous depictions of the last supper. Leonardo has given his take on the psychology of each of the figures in the painting. The emotions of each of the apostles is overwhelming and ultimately give off the affect of a subtle chaos due to the fact that Christ has just told them one of them will betray him.
  • 7. Andromeda s Subsequent Marriage To Perseus This passage contains both Andromeda s rescue and her subsequent marriage to Perseus. In essence, then, we might say it is transitory. Yet Ovid marks this shift, the first sustained perspective change in 141 lines, merely with the main caesura of 758. Arguably, such a fluid movement means that it is unhelpful to think of this passage simply as a marker between the dГ©nouement of one narrativeand the exposition of another; to do so would be to ignore the poet s structural indentation in addition to the gobbetting of the passage itself. The implication is that Ovid treats the gods in Perseus Homeric sacrifice with the same narratological brush as the bacchanalian excess animi...laeti. Could this invite a direct comparison with Bacchus, the purveyor of rituals? The end stop on line 756 lends itself to this sort of reading. Indeed, the definitive placement of altae for Mercurius, Minerua and Juppiter, juxtaposes Ovid s use of the enjambment lyraeque /tibiaquae on 760 761; evoking the excess, the spilling over, of marital festivity. This is strongly reflective of Ovid s hymn (9 30) to Bacchus at the beginning of Book 4. There, the chants and rhythms may have worked to produce a rhyme stressing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hence, just as the very nature of the poet s knowledge tears at the fabric of his Metamorphoses, so do the conflicting elements of his narration whether the epimythium is showing or telling for example surface here. These arise from the genre bending essence of the opus itself. In this sense the macroscopic function of this passage (rituals and wedding) may not really be about the daily lives and real world experiences which Homer broadly portrays. Instead, the two end stops but eleven clauses within the passage suggest that it may work structurally to delay Medusa s beheading, to embellish and to characterise Perseus with Callimachean
  • 8. Catcher In The Rye And The Kite Runner First Person Narrative First person narrative expresses a point of view giving the greatest sense of identity of the character. People are all different. Different colours, religions, different morals and beliefs, and maybe most important different perspectives on the world. In both The Catcher in the Rye in The Kite Runner the male protagonist tells the course of events from their perspective, and their role as narrator has a significant impact on the novels In both The Catcher in the Rye, and The Kite Runner, first person narration played a critical role in helping the reader know and understand the main characters, Holden Caulfield Amir. Amir grew up with a sense of entitlement, and a loyal servant/friend in Hassan. After Hassan s rape, Amir is stricken with grief and tries to console himself by saying that he is better than Hassan because Hassan is a Hazara and has a cleft lip. It s here where the disgusting mindset of Amir, a perspective that only the reader has the opportunity to understand. Hassan knew. He knew I d seen everything in that alley, that I d stood there and done nothing. He knew I had betrayed him and yet he was rescuing me once again, maybe for the last time. (Kite 9.29) This quote perfectly encapsulates Amir s feelings of extreme grief for what he did to Hassan. This is a recurring theme within the book, the reader sees the anxiety that Amir feels for betraying Hassan in the alley that day, and from that day he does his best to repent for his unatoned sins. Another importance of first person narrative within The Catcher in the Rye and The Kite Runner is it allows the reader to empathize with the characters of the novels. In both novels the narrator/main character is not the most likeable. Holden Caulfield is a very cynical and jaded narrator, and finds the hypocrisy and ugliness of the world around him almost unbearable, through his cynicism he tries to protect himself from the pain and disappointment of the adult world. Amir is a complex character like all protagonist narrator s are. He isn t all bad, but he has a crippled conscious, and makes very

Introduction In 1971, Led Zeppelin released a chart topping, revolutionary song that is currently still played by many people across the globe. The song Stairway to Heaven off of their fourth album( Led Zeppelin IV) was almost an instant hit amongst all people of the United States, and various other countries. The song was composed by band members Jimmy Page (guitarist) and Robert Plant ( vocalist). The song is lengthy one, with a duration of roughly eight minutes and withholds many complex segments. The creative diversity of this song seemed to have adopted a broad range of listeners from throughout the globe. The song was open to anyone and everyone, from people who strictly liked the new acoustical factors of the song that had not been prevalent in many song prior, to people who wanted to do some soul searching and analyze the lyrics to better understand themselves through interpretations without having to conform to strict definitions that society had pressed upon heaps of musical works prior and up to the release of this song. The take off of this song was a little shaky because of the new elements and components that Plant and Page added into the instrumentals of the song. All of these new unique parts required the listeners of this song to do some getting used to . Your ideal listener to this song is younger people who were trying to navigate their lives through a new system of beliefs and wanted to become detached from the concrete lifestyles of their previous generations. These people wanted to experiment and go beyond the confines of a sheltered routine life and experience life

Analysis of States by Edward Said Edward Said States refutes the view Western journalists, writers, and scholars have created in order to represent Eastern cultures as mysterious, dangerous, unchanging, and inferior. According to Said, who was born in Jerusalem at that time Palestine, the way westerners represent eastern people impacts the way they interact with the global community. All of this adds to, Palestinians having to endure unfair challenges such as eviction, misrepresentation, and marginalization that have forced them to spread allover the world. Al Nakba or the Catastrophe is known this way by Arabs because of all the losses they had including defeat, and their inability to create a Palestine state after the war. Ever since, Palestinians have had to adapt to new places and cultures in order to survive, which makes it more difficult for them to preserve their own. Said presents several examples of transculturation throughout the essay. For instance, the use of the Mercedes, even though Said describes it in negative terms, the use of the Mercedes has come in handy for Palestinians. Enduring one disaster after another, Palestinian identity is arduous to preserve in exile. It is a struggle of having no country. Our country is a big part of who we are. As we are born, we are destined to become a part of it. It becomes part of our identity. Things that we grew up with meant something to us. We usually treasure things that became part of our lives. Even unconsciously, we take hold of it. Home brings us memories, memories that we want to hold on up to our last breath. According to Mary Louise Pratt s Arts of the Contact Zone, an autoethnographic text can be defined as a text where the author describes himself or his people using mechanisms provided by others. Such texts are almost always the product of a contact zone or a place where cultures meet and clash. In other words, autoethnographic texts are those in
  • 11. Benefits And Benefits Of Retirement Plans Retirement Plans Companies have the option of selecting the best pension plan for both the employee and the employer. There are several different types to plans available, but the most common are defined benefit plans and defined contribution plans. Each plan offers different incentives for both the employer and the employee, which makes their values different for every situation. Defined Benefit Plans Large corporations under which the employer promises to pay a retiree a stated pension, often expressed as a percentage of preretirement pay, which is traditionally used and known as a defined benefit plans (Cascio, 2013, p. 483). The most common formula for defined benefit plans couples an employee s years of service and their final average pay, to determine the amount of their retirement. Employers then pay into the fund each year to cover the expected benefit payment for the employee. The majority of defined benefit plans calculates earnings over the last 3 to 5 years of service for a prospective retiree and offers a pension that is about one half this amount, which varies from 30 to 80 percent, adjusted for years of seniority (Milkovich, Newman, Gerhart, 2014, p. 466). The following is a list of characteristics for defined benefit plans. Benefits are guaranteed by the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) with some exceptions Employer assumes the risk of investment gains and losses Some plans do not take into consideration inflation The exact
  • 12. Let Her Go Poem Analysis The song Let Her Go by Passenger portrays a theme of loosing love and not appreciating love or understanding how much someone means until they are gone. This song makes you understand loss and how it is easy to take for granted the people who are in our lives. Throughout the song, the chorus is repeated five times which creates a memorable and lasting effect on the listener. We are able to remember the lyrics of the chorus the most and are able to recall them years after we first heard the song. The repetition is hinting to the importance and meaning of the words. A hyperbole used in the song is Everything you touch [will] surely die. However, objects you touch do not die instantly. This hyperbole exaggerates how hurtful someone can be
  • 13. Perfect Competition Essay example Perfect Competition Perfect competition is an idealised market structure theory used in economics to show the market under a high degree of competition given certain conditions. This essay aims to outline the assumptions and distinctive features that form the perfectly competitive model and how this model can be used to explain short term and long term behaviour of a perfectly competitive firm aiming to maximise profits and the implications of enhancing these profits further. In a perfectly competitive market each firm is a Price Taker , i.e. the prices and wages are determined by the market and the firm is so small relative to the size of the market that they can have no influence over the market price. For a market to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is also linked into the behaviour of the buyers in the market. Buyers are also price takers because they can purchase as much as they wish without influencing the market price. The final assumption is important when considering the long term equilibrium price of a firm in perfect competition. This assumption is that entry into the market is free and that there are no barriers to entry. Any costs incurred are incurred by all of the suppliers; an entrant will pay no additional cost for entering the firm. In the short run the perfect competition equilibrium can be found by graphing the marginal cost (MC), average total cost (ATC) and marginal revenue (MR) curves. In perfect competition the price is equal to the average revenue, which is equal to the marginal revenue and these are all constant, giving an infinitely elastic demand curve for the firm. The demand curve is perfectly price elastic due to the homogeneity of the products supplied, where each supplier, as a price taker, must focus on a single price. Given this, the only choice a supplier has in the short run is how much to produce. For profit maximisation to occur marginal costs (supply curve) must equal marginal revenue (demand curve). Profit maximisation is assumed to mean the maximisation of normal economic profit (i.e. revenue that covers the
  • 14. Listening to Music in School Students should be able to listen to music while studying or completing assignments during class. Music influences humans both in good and bad ways. Listening to music while studying or at work can be beneficial to brain functioning helping you stay focused. When you listen to music while studying, your brainis activated to think spatially. Musicis not only beneficial for students but can help with emotional issues as well. The effects of music are very beneficial to students as well as workers and should be allowed in classrooms and work environments. You may be thinking how can music help me focus on my work? Well I have the answer to that and it may be surprising. As a student myself I have found times where I was not able to get my work done because I just wasn t motivated or I couldn t stay focused on the task at hand. It can even be frustrating or overwhelming trying to complete work. Depending on what type of music you re listening to while working it can actually encourage you to keep working and keep you focused on your studies. According to Teresa Lesiuk of The University of Windsor in Canada listening to music while you work can increase positivity and give you inspiration to keep working (Psychology of Music April 2005 vol. 33 no. 2 173 191). In a survey conducted by Harris Interactive it was stated that nearly one third (32%) of 1,613 U.S. employees said they listen to music while working through the use of an iPod, MP3 player or similar device. • 15. The Deployment Of Military Personnel Essay As of April 12, 2015, excluding the U.S. Coast Guard, there are nearly 1.2 million active duty U.S. military personnel (Demographics of Active Duty U.S. Military, 2015). Approximately half of these men and women have a spouse and/or children that they must say goodbye to once they are deployed and deployment can last four to fifteen months. The deployment of military personnel adversely affects their families by causing negative emotional and/or behavioral changes, continuously altering the framework of the familydynamic, and by increasing the risk factors for divorce upon their post deployment reintegration. Deployment of a parent and/or spouse can cause a myriad of behavioral and/or emotional changes in the family members left behind. The stress of deployment on the spouse left at home can cause mental health issues that have a negative impact on their relationship with their child(ren) and their parentingpractices (Swenson Wolff, 2011). Al Qaeda is an international terrorist network, which is considered the most significant terrorist threat to the United States. Al Qaedais a prominent group among the hundreds of terrorist organizations that despise The United States. Al Qaeda was established around 1988 by Osama bin Laden. This terrorist organization is comprised of thousands of fighters from different countries all over the world. Osama bin Laden first formed this organization to take part in the resistance to defeat the Soviet Union. At a time when the Soviet Union was invading Afghanistan. An analysis of the terrorist group Al Qaeda reveals that it is challenging for the United States to win a war that is not physical in nature but primarily psychological. Terrorist groups tend to wage a war that is physical in some aspects but the key to victory for a terrorist organization is to win through psychological attacks and tactics. Al Qaeda is an important terrorist group not only because they are a well known group that poses a significant threat to the United States and western interest, but for the reason that it has survived and been in operation for over four decades. When looking at a nation as powerful and massive as the United States, one can only wonder what type of force would one need to take

I have thoroughly enjoyed thinking about the interrelationship of reason, experience, and scripture. Foremost, the relationship of reason and experience has proved highly. Understanding the ways in which reason and experience relate to each other is a tricky concept indeed and it is one that I look to in order to discern the process of learning in general. It is this process that allows learning to occur. Also, this process must begin at some point. This point, as suggested by Wesley, begins with the authoritative information of scripture for trans sensory understanding and it has been interesting for me ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I do not buy into this distinction and I do believe that an authoritative canon adequately deals with the interaction problem. Any further questions about reality itself do not effect us and, therefore, are meaningless to us. Additionally, the realization of an overly pragmatic theology found in chapter nineteen proved interesting; especially in consideration of Wesley s Experiential Theology. We mustn t become overly skeptical in our beliefs if we wish to discover as many new ideas that we possibly can. In this case, the best option would be the option that does not rule out an option unless logical necessity urges otherwise. We must remain consistent in our analysis of the hermeneutical spiral if we wish to continue through it in an appropriate, reasonable way. This sort of idea holds true for any hermeneutical process, but it is especially significant in the method that Wesley offers because of its reliance on correct understanding for scriptural, and then experiential, interpretation. Improper interpretation can lead to drastically false beliefs if carried on for too long. Correspondingly, we must apply the most accurate and consistent experience in order to receive the results that more accurately point towards truth in Wesley s system. So, if we wish to perform Wesley s method in the most probable fashion to produce truth known to humankind, we must provide the hermeneutical process with the

However, assumptions and stereotypes of any kind can be highly inaccurate. Clothism is as real as racismand sexism. Judging people based on the clothes they wear is the same as judging people based on their race. One thing that can be gathered about someone based on their clothes is their opinions. Political shirts saying to vote a certain way reflect the wearer s political views. If someone wears a shirt that says Vote for Pedro, they re probably voting for Pedro themselves and want to sway others to vote the same way. A shirt that has a musician s name on it shows that the wearer likes their music. A jersey or hat of a sports team shows that they like that sport and team. I ve worn political shirts for campaigns before. I ve worn different artists shirts. I wear shirts of teams and schools. Wearing these clothing items was to show others my thoughts and opinions of the topics. Similar to how people dress, a person s racecan often times give leway to their opinions.
  • 37. Crickets Hypothesis The null hypothesis of this experiment was that there would be no significant difference in preference by crickets between environment with cinnamon and without cinnamon. The result showed that as the time increase the crickets movement actual become more stable. There is an equal net force of movement from one side of the chamber to another. To test the significance of these findings, a Chi Square analysis was performed. According to the Chi Square statistic, the null hypothesisshould be accepted because the Chi square value (4.50) is less than the critical value (11.07), thus making the cinnamon having very little effect on the crickets movement. Even the control group yields similar result, that there is no difference of the sides that
  • 38. Neural Crest Cells Essay Neural crest cells are transient vertebral cell types, which form at the boundary between the neural plate and surface ectoderm. They are multipotent and able to migrate and differentiate into numerous derivatives resulting in them being referred to as the fourth germ layer . It is thought that the evolution of vertebrates is due to large scale genome duplications which occurred early in the vertebrate lineage. Research suggests that there were two rounds of genome duplication during early vertebrate evolution. However, there is an alternative research model which suggests that in stem vertebrates there was a single round of duplication, followed by lineage specific segmental duplications in cyclostomes and jawed vertebrates. Despite... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is also evidence to suggest that the fate of neural crest cells depends upon their migratory path in the trunk which is dictated by somites. Cells which migrate early move ventrally and pass through the anterior half sclerotome, form the sensory ganglia. Cells which are more dorsal within the anterior sclerotome form the sensory neurons and glia of the dorsal root ganglia, partly due to signals which come from the neural tube. Alternatively, the neural crest cells which migrate late travel laterally between the somite and the ectoderm, forming melanocytes in amniotes. It is thought that the increased complexity in vertebrate neuroanatomy may stem from interactions between neural crest cells and other cell types. An example of this is the essential role of neural crest cells in the expansion of the head and formation of a true neck . Neural crest cells are thought to be crucial in multiple stages of cranial mesoderm development and secrete signals which depress myogenesis, consequently allowing the formation of cranial myofibres. Research has suggested that these distinct myogenic regulatory sub networks arose in early vertebrates. The formation of a true neck is a result of the pectoral girdle losing its attachment to the skull, and allowed tetrapods to colonise land as they could now move their head independent of limbs. Despite

A few of his most famous novels are The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and Jim Smiley and his Jumping Frog. Hearing the name Mark Twain rings a bell, but surprisingly, that is not the author s real name. His given name is Samuel Clemens. Samuel Langhorne Clemens was born November 30, 1835, in Florida, Missouri, and he was the sixth child of John and Jane Clemens. His father was always searching for wealth, but he never achieved it, and he often times found it hard to feed his family. He had many jobs, and he was a surly, unsmiling man. He wrote Jim Smiley and his Jumping Frog, earning his big break. His next jump into success came from his cruise along the Mediterranean, where he wrote humorously for newspaper, also hoping to get a book out of the trip. At the age of 34, he published The Innocents Abroad, and he became a best selling author. Twain s stories are shaped by life experiences. Some influences come from Hannibal, where he saw how slaves and Native Americans were treated. Huck Finn is an orphan who travels with a freed slave named Jim. Another experience, such as the fact that his father and a few of his siblings died when he was young, shaped his writing of Huckleberry Finn. Young Huck Finn experiences death at a young

  • 41. Shakespeare Sonnet 130 Tone Poetry has always had a common theme where lovers are portrayed as goddess like, based on their beauty and love. However, in William Shakespeare s Sonnet 130, written as an English sonnet, the speaker has a different vision, as he realizes that his lover s beauty cannot be compared to that of a goddess, nor can it be found in nature for she is just a typical human being. His love for her is eventually shown, but without the use of the clichГ© image of beauty. Shakespeare s use of metaphors, contrast, language and structure demonstrates that love is complicated and that real beauty is unrealistic and impossible to live up to. Since this poem is an anti love poem, the speaker is describing ways in which his lover doesn t properly fit into these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The use of the word heaven shows indication that his love for his mistress is higher than any of the comparisons that he has previously mocked in order to describe her (Shakespeare 13). The speaker notes that, beyond all of his mistress imperfections, his love is as rare/As any she belied with false compare (Shakespeare 13 14). With that being said, it is clear to the reader that, although she has fallen short to society s vision of perfection, his love for her is endless and he accepts her for who she is. The speaker proves to the reader that he doesn t need the assistance from false comparisons, such as comparing her eyes to the sun, to show just how much he loves her. The word false in line 14 could suggest that the women described with qualities such as red lips and rosy cheeks aren t accurately depicted. The speaker recognizes that a women s body should not resemble the images stated in the earlier lines, so the truth is being used to describe his lover, as opposed to using false

The Rockwell Collins Satellite Transportable Terminal The Rockwell Collins Satellite Transportable Terminal (STT) is an important satellite for the signal branch that is used to make communications virtually anywhere. A suspension system needs to be put into the STT so that it will not be damaged while being loaded and transported. There are three shock systems available with different spring constants and dampingcoefficients. The three shock systems are called Air Coasters, Cloud Riders, and Extreme Shocks. A HMMWV was being tested when it began bouncing up and down, so the soldiers operating the vehicle shut it down for fear of it breaking down. Some engineers re fired the gun so they could take measurements of its displacement from the ground in order to understand what was happening, but they only took measurements for 60 seconds before they shut it down. Free Dampened System Loading the Trailer The suspension system can be modeled using the following equation: m (d^2 x)/(dt^2 )+ОІ dx/dt+kx=f(t) x(t) is the displacement from its rest position in meters, m is the mass of the object in kilograms, ОІ is the damping constant in kg/second, k is the spring constant in kg /sec2, and f(t) is the external force in Newtons (N). The mass of the satellite is 1800 kg and the satellite is at equilibrium when the trailer is loaded. Before the trailer is loaded, the displacement of the shocks is 0.05 meters, so the starting displacement is 0.05. The critically damped value of each shock is calculated in Appendix A. He was a Republican and served two terms in office. He is considered by many people as one of the greatest presidents in American history. Section 1 of this paper begins by explaining why Reagan is considered a great president by many people, and also gives some background information on the state of the economy he had inherited. Section 3 considers two aspects of Reagan s foreign policy: the US invasion of Grenada, and the Iran Contra ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are five main reasons why Reagan is admired by large segments of the American public. Firstly, he is considered to have been a staunch patriot and a charismatic leader (Spinrad, 1991). These qualities were needed in a president at the time due to the influence of the Soviet Union and the threat of communism. It was also important due to Americans being demoralised from the failure in Vietnam. Secondly, the six months leading up to the end of his second term were characterised by increased cooperation with the Soviet Union s Mikhail Gorbachev to reform the union. It eventually resulted in the total collapse of the Soviet Union and Reagan is credited for assisting in the eradication of the communist threat. The third, and more controversial reason for Reagan s popularity, is the Ronald Reagan Legacy Project funded by conservative Americans (Norquist, n.d.). The project aims to instil the legacy of Reagan by lobbying to name buildings, roads, and landmarks after the president. This boosts the image and prestige of the president in the eyes of the people, especially for people who did not live during his presidency or do not know much about him. The fourth reason for Reagan s popularity is that he is perceived to have drastically improved the US economy and lives of Americans. One of the ways to understand this is by comparing the shape of the US economy when he took office to its shape when he left. The US

The Evolution Of The 1960s Protest Song The evolution of the 1960s protest song has typically been associated with Joni Mitchell, but the expanding range of protest songs in the 1970s defines her continued presence as a leader in terms of environmental activism. More than just a vestige of the late 1960s, Mitchell continued to write protest songs long after many other artists from the 1960s had changed their lyrical content. In the mellow turn of early 1970s country rock and folk music, Mitchell represented a new environmental shift that moved away from the proto typical antiwar songs of the 1960s. Mitchell, along with other musicians of this era, defined a shifting musical focus on songwriting and musical presentation during the early 1970as: The early to mid 1970s would become known for a mellow turn toward country rock, production heavy supergroups, and envieronmental songs like Big Yellow Taxi (1970). Even the Beach Boys took their turn at envieronmental critique, releasing Don t Go Near the Water in 1971 (Weglarz xviii). In this musical critique, the soft rock appeal of Mitchell s song represented a shift away from the hard rock sound of the 1960s, but with the gritty directness of lyrics that challenged the chemical pollution of DDT usage in modern farming techniques. The hard edge of envieronmental critiques was certain masked by the gentle nature of Mitchell s voice, but the reality of chemical engineering as a threat to the environment is interjected through her flowing melodic structures:

Fate In Macbeth Research Paper Fate in MacBeth The subject of fate contains much controversy, because for many the topic relates to areas of strong, personal opinions such as religion or culture. For centuries, people have believed in fate. Others, have denied the existence and believe that people control their own destinies. In the 17th Century tragedy MacBeth, William Shakespeare shows how fate can lead to unfortunate events when people become too greedy about achieving their destiny. Thereby, Shakespeare demonstrates that people can not overpower fate, they can only wait for the fulfillment, whether good or bad. People who believe in fate wonder how much a higher power predetermines their destiny. If chance will have me king, why, chance may/crown me/Without my stir (I.iv.157 159). Shakespeare raises questions about the extent that MacBeth manipulates his actions. Some people would argue that MacBeth s fate includes his homicidal actions, and his will cannot change the witches prophecy. Others contradict that belief by saying that MacBeth s own will leads to his fate, and ultimate death, coming sooner than predicted. Which fate and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... THE LINK BETWEEN STOCK PRICES AND THE ECONOMY Economic theory proposes that there should be a strong link between economic activity and stock prices, given that its price is the discounted present value of the firm s payout. If this payout is finally a function of real activity, such a link should exist. There are several theoretical propositions suggesting how stock prices can have a direct impact on economic output, which further strengthens the link amongst these two variables. 1.The first link was proposed by Tobin in 1969. The focus is on the impact that share prices have on the cost of capital. The coefficient that captures this is called Tobin s Q, which is given by the ratio of market value of current capital to the cost of replacement capital. When the prices of shares are high, the value of the firm to the replacement cost of its capital is also high i.e., the Tobin s Q is also high. Furthermore, this leads to rise in investment expenditure and thus causes a rise in the aggregate economic output as for firms it is easier to finance their investment expenditures. This is because investment would be simpler as it would require a lower share offering in a situation of a higher price for

Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis: Biologics A critique of an article published by The New York Times suggests a Breakthrough in treatment for joint pain of patients suffering from Rheumatoid arthritis. The article suggests that a drug known as a Biologic taken with Methotrexate may effectively treat pain and swelling symptoms caused by Rheumatoid Arthritis. Before critiquing the article, it is necessary to discuss the anatomy and physiology of Rheumatoid Arthritis so you may have a better understanding of the disease and the possible treatments. Rheumatoid Arthritis is classified as an autoimmune disease; it is a chronic inflammatory disorder in which the immune system attacks the tissues of the synovial joints of the individual who is suffering from the disease (Marieb and Hoehn 2013). The attacks cause inflammation to the synovial joints; the onset of inflammation brings both pain and swelling to the joint (Marieb and Hoehn 2013). Inflammatory cells appear in the joint cavity of the synovial joint and release inflammatory chemicals that destroy the body tissue at the joint (Marieb and Hoehn 2013). The disease is bilateral, meaning that if it affects a joint on one side of the body, for example the left wrist; chances are that it will affect the same joint on the opposite side of the body (Marieb and Hoehn 2013). Rheumatoid Arthritis is characterized by flare ups in which the synovial joint swells due to the inflammatory chemicals destroying tissue in the synovial
