The Rite of Spring Essay
When one thinks of a ballet they hear soft rhythmic notes and see elegantly dancing ballerinas
softly tip toeing around the stage. This is also what people in early 1900 s expected to see when
they planned to attend a ballet. However, a couple of motivated artists in 1913 literally planned to
change the design of ballet, music and dance forever. On May 29, 1913 a ballet named The Rite of
Springpremiered in Paris, France. The original title as it translates from Russian to French is; Le
Sacre du Printemps, meaning the rite of spring, but the literal translation from Russian to English
means Sacred Spring . The ballet and music were composed by Igor Stravinsky, with the help of
Nicholas Roerich, who proposed the general idea behind the... Show more content on

Unlike traditional ballet The Rite of Spring featured sharply bent arms and legs that focused on
barbarian depictions of life rather than the elegant, graceful representations used in conventional
ballet. The violent dance steps depicted fertility rites, which is what provoked the earliest
interruptions during the ballet. While Nijinsky was creating the dance for the ballet, Roerich
was creating the setting and costumes to accurately portray this sacrificial rite. The use of such
primitive pagan images were something that the people were not accustomed to. It was a topic
that the world was not yet ready to deal with. But the visuals of the ballet were not the only
historic part; the music had an even greater impact. The music was composed by Igor
Stravinsky, who considered himself an inventor of music. He was also known for many
controversial works reminiscent of Nijinsky. He created many works that blasted the whole realm
of music into other possibilities, in which it would never return from. He started his career
writing music for other ballets like Firebird and Petrouchka, which were grand and familiar like
traditional ballet, but had a small hint of a more modern tone. It was not until The Rite of Spring
that Stravinsky s work was truly inspirational. This work tested the future of the 20th century
classical music, and in many ways it paved the path to a modernized view. There are still many
who do not understand how he

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Alternative Dispute...
There are different forms of alternative dispute resolutions, each having advantages and
disadvantages. The key to understanding the advantages and disadvantages of the forms of dispute
resolutions is the be knowledgeable of the meaning and the use of alternative dispute resolution.
Alternative Dispute Resolution is said to, offers parties alternative means of resolving their
differences outside actual courtroom litigation and the costly preparation for it , (Jennings, M.,
2015 pg. 101). Arbitrationis one form of dispute resolution. Arbitration is defined as the, oldest
form of ADR and was once the most popular form of alternative dispute, but its increasing costs
and time commitment have found businesses and lawyers labeling it, no different from litigation
(Jennings, M., 2015 pg. 101). The advantages of arbitration include; the members of both parties
agree to have the same arbitrator, someone both sides trust. Other advantages include; the
process of arbitration is quicker than waiting on a court date, the fees are not expensive as it is
when paying court fees, there is very limited chances that an appeal will happen, and there is
more privacy in arbitration compared to having a trial. The disadvantages of arbitration are; once
a decision is made it is final because both parties gave up the right to an appeal, in some cases the
arbitrator fees can be more expensive depending on the evidence needed, any evidence can be
considered in arbitration unlike in court

Arguments For And Against Scepticism
Scepticism can be defined as A view that doubts whether any of our beliefs can be supported by
adequate or sufficient evidence. (Richard H. Popkin, 1993, p. 182). This essay will be discussing
the arguments for and against the practise of scepticism. It will be focusing on the ideas of
Socrates, Descartes, Hume and Wittgenstein and it will elaborate on how their opinions on
scepticism contrast, in part, due to their historical setting. It will clarify and identify scepticisms
role in society and the changing role of philosophyfrom ancient to modern times.
Socrates began a revolution in philosophy when he called philosophy down from the heavens
(Popkin, 1999, p. 23). He challenged the moral complaceny of his fellow citizens in Athens. He
embarressed them with their inabililty to answer questions such as ... Show more content on

To define scepticism would go against its very principle as that definition could very well be
doubted as its true form which in turn shows the primary flaw of scepticism itself to question
everything is to never move forward on a basis of acceptance. Therefore scepticism should be
used sparsely as questioning does help us move forward as a society. For example questioning
medical practices can help to advance a field by investing in new studies. Hume s science of man
principal is an example of how investing moderately in scepticism can help society. If there was
an absence of sceptics in the world we would be stuck in a never ending circle. Scepticism helps to
influence others with an opinion that may not always be the most popular. Wittgenstein gives
examples just how far scepticism can go with his arguments against Solipsism. This is the danger
of scepticism; this chosen isolation from the rest of humanity can lead to the beginning of cults and
sects which can have disastrous impacts on society. Scepticism in its finest form, is when it is
balanced and used with some common

Evolution of Australian Biota Assessment Answers
a) Discuss current research into the evolutionary relationships between extinct species, including
megafauna and extant Australian species.
Megafauna simply means large animals, in which most have become extinct within the last 20 000
to 50 000 years. The extinction of megafauna was, debatably, due to climate change and human
expansion. Although, Africa still retains some megafauna, such as the elephant or the rhinoceros.
Australia has managed to keep many examples of relict species, some from the time of the
megafauna. These include the Crocodile, Wollemi Pine and Stromatolites.
Megafauna are not direct ancestors of the current animals, rather certain animals both evolved from
a common ancestor. An example of this can be seen in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 1940s, an Australia scientist invented the Platypussary. This was technology that attempted to
stimulate its natural habitat, hoping to breed a pair. In 1943, the first Platypus was bred in
captivity, which gave scientists much research into lifestyle and breeding habits; gestation and pre
and post natal processes.
Another scientific question was that of its body temperature, but with the development of
radiotelementary scientists ideas about this changed. Radiotelementary can record body
temperature and transmit this information. It has helped scientists in understanding whether the
Platypus can maintain its body temperature when swimming in cold water.
Scientists have contiuned to develop their ideas through the research of amino acids, which allowed
them to observe trends between the sequences of placentals and marsupials. Fossils have also been
an important technological development in understanding the Platypus. As well as cell observation,
allowing Scientists to discover the Platypus salt retaining kidneys.
Another huge discovery about Platypus was able to come about because of new technology, the
question of how the Platypus got its food. Using Electron Microscopy, scientists were able to
observe the Platypus bill. The discovery was made that the bill had extremely sensitive touch
receptors which helped the Platypus navigate underwater with its eyes closed,

WORD COUNT:
INTRODUCTION:
Our sites (Figure 1.) were spread along the lowest reach of Merri Creek before it runs into the
Yarra River. As a direct result of this there is an extensive valley from the constant presence of
fluvial processes over geological time. The landform patterns at our sites were extensively
governed by the movement and availability of water, with escarpments, gullies, cliffs and spurs of
varying steepness all observed. Figure 1. Topographic map of the meandering form of Merri Creek

Wurundjeri People(39000BC 1835) were hunter/gatherers and actively managed the environment
such that they did not permanently deplete its resources. The creek and surrounding lands were
important to Aborigines for food, shelter and travel. Where Merri Creek and the Yarra Riverjoin at
Dights Falls (site 6) was once an important Aboriginal meeting place. (Jackson, 2018) The area
was then used pastorally and subsequently deforested to be used for agriculture, mostly as grazing
land for livestock (1835 1850).
Now the surrounding area consists mainly of residential development of houses and recreational
facilities (1850 present). (City of Melbourne, 2018)
This area along Merri Creek now has two main uses; recreation (Merri Creek bike and walking
Trail, Rotunda Wetland, Geofrey Knott reserve) (walking paths, viewing platforms and seating
areas) and transport (Merri Creek Trail, Heidelberg Rd/Eastern Freeway)
Extensive amounts of litter were observed both in (figure 8) and around the creek, this aspect of

Reagan Cold War Research Paper
During the beginning of the Reagan presidency, Cold War pressure between the Soviet Union and
the United States boosted. Reagan entered office deeply cautious of the Soviet Union. Reagan
characterized the Soviet Union as an evil empire and called for a space based missile defense
system, battered by critics as Star Wars.
Reagan and his aides tended to view every regional battle through a Cold War lens. Nowhere was
this more accurate than in the Western Hemisphere, where he was firm to avoid a Communist
increase, In October 1983, Prime Minister Maurice Bishop of Grenada, a small island nation in
the Caribbean, was killed and a more capital Marxist government took control, Afterward Soviet
money and Cuban troops came to Grenada. When they started to create an airfield adequate of
landing large military aircraft, the Reagan administration assured to abolish the Communists and
bring up a pro American tenure. On October 25, U.S. troops accessed Grenada, killed or

Keats And Longfellow Analysis
In John Keats s When I Have My fears and Henry Longfellow s Mezzo Cammin , the poets share
their outlook on death. Both writers filled themselves with the concern of dying before they created
a fulfilling life. Although Keats and Longfellow both portrayed their similar theme using parallel
structures and language, the two works differ in the two poets rhyme schemes and tones. In the
beginning quatrain of When I Have My Fears , Keats begins by writing about his doubt that his
insight might not have time to reach other people. He worries his most important thoughts will not
be written down and there will be no books that share his valuable knowledge. Keats moves on
through the next quatrain by revealing to the audience that another concern... Show more content on

However, the beginning of the sonnets follow a different rhyme scheme. Keats chose to follow the
ABAB pattern while Longfellow selected an ABBA arrangement. Both then continue to follow the
standard sonnet structure CDCD EFEF GG and use the break in between the second and third
quatrains to shift thoughts, otherwise known as the volta. At the volta of each poem is where we
truly see how each poet feels about death. Keats appears more accepting of death where Longfellow
struggles with the idea of letting it conquer him. Besides the similar structure, another way the
poems compare is in the language the poets create. Keats and Longfellow admit to the fear that they
will pass before they have the opportunity to make their mark on the Earth. They chose to view
death as vast and imminent. The poets also show comparison in their writing by connecting nature
to their works. Keats looks up at the starred sky and reflects on his theme and Longfellow looks up
a mountain. Despite using similar structure, language, and themes, Keats and Longfellow create
different tones that depict their attitudes about death. In When I Have My Fears , Keats recognized
death as inevitable, but includes these elements to create a reverent and accepting tone. However,
Longfellow feels as though he will never live up to the life he desired for himself and uses the
language and structure to create

Police Use Of Deadly Force
Introduction Police use of deadly force in the United States has been growing at a rapid pace due
to several incidents that have taken place over the last few years. The biggest question today
remains why has this been such a relevant topic across the U.S. lately? The use of deadly force is
specifically important because it directly affects the publics attitudes and behaviors towards the
policeand government. Some will blame police policies, some will blame abuse of power, and
some even claim the use of deadly force is necessary to in order to properly defend themselves.
The use of deadly force continues to increase due to lack of what the true definition of use of force
and what actually means. This lack of definition creates

Reaction Paper On Deviance
Throughout the semester deviance has been our primary focus of the class, I actually have gotten
into the habit of determining things that I do whether they fall under the spectrum of deviant
behavior. Certain behaviors correlate with certain theories that have been enmeshed into
categories. Since many theories can be grouped together to explain certain behaviors I actually
have a few that I am going to be talking about today. But the main form of deviance that I will be
focusing on today is rape. Emotional numbness, Anxiety, loss of confidence and constant
flashbacks are just an array of things that these young girls will have to deal with for the rest of
their lives.
Rape is something that continues to happen not only in the United States, but in every country,
and is continuing to ruin many people s lives. Also there are myths that women and young girls
are the main victims when it comes to rape cases, although there may be many cases that are
directed mainly towards women , men and young boys are also victims. I believe that because it
is more common for women to get raped it s easier in a way to report it as to where if it were a
male, he may not want to report it because he would feel demasculinized, and embarrassed. But
what if you lived in a country where rape is considered normal amongst the villagers because
young girls , simply had it coming to them because for some reason they looked at a man or said
thank you to them. Obviously she was flirting with him and

Michael Faraday And The Chemistry World
For my term paper I have chosen to study the works of Michael Faraday, a very significant name
in the Chemistry world especially in understanding electrochemistry and electromagnetism. He had
a number of accomplishments over his career including writing a manual of practical chemistry,
discovered a large number of new organic compounds, as well as liquefying what was thought to
be a permanent solid. His largest discovery, and what I will be discussing in this paper is his
advancements in the world of electrochemistry He was at the forefront of producing electric
currents from a magnetic field, invented the first electric motor, was able to demonstrate how
electricity and chemical bonding connect, amongst and array of other accomplishments. Mr.
Michael Faradaywas born on September 22nd, 1791 in Newington Butts, Surrey (New London)
England. He was a child of James Faraday, a blacksmith from Yorkshire and Margaret Hastwell,
who worked around the house. He had three siblings (another born after him) and was born a few
months after they had moved to Newington Butts. His family was struggling when he was
younger due to his father s poor health condition but they stayed close together and attended
church; this gave them a sense of community and support behind them. Michael was able to attend
a day school where he had learned how to read, write, count, and do simple math. He did this until
he was 13 and then had to find work so he could help his family s financial issues. An

Implementation of SMT Concept in Intel Processor Essay
The main idea of this article is implementation of SMT concept in Intel processor which is based
on efficient use of limited amount of processor resources such that at OS and software level it is
seems just like multiple processors are running multiple processes. It is less costly and more
efficient. Sharing policy is also playing an important role in performance improvement.
Background: In order to improve processor performance following traditional approaches like
higher clock speeds, instruction level parallelism, and cache hierarchies were used. But now thread
level parallelism is also taken into consideration. Higher clock speed: Achieve by microarchitecture
pipelining to finer granularities known as superpipelining. Large number of... Show more content on

Hyperthreading technology architecture: Hyperthreading technology makes a single physical
processor appear to be multiple logical processors at OS level. From a microarchitecture
perspective, it means that instructions will persist and execute simultaneously on shared
execution resources. Die size and complexity: Hyperthreading technology is resource efficient
and deliver a large performance improvement at minimal cost because it entails only a small
increase in die size (is due to a second architectural state, additional control logic, and replication
of a few key processor resources) due to limited replication of physical processor resources.
Microarchitecture choices and tradeoffs: To share resources, we chose among possible sharing
schemes that included partition threshold full sharing Partition: In a partitioned resource, each
logical processor can use only half the entries. Resource partitioning is simple and low complex. It
works best for the major pipeline queues in the in order pipeline. Threshold: Another way of
sharing resources is to limit the maximum resource usage. This scheme puts a threshold on the
number of resource entries a logical processor can have. Full sharing: The most flexible mechanism
for resource sharing, do not limit the maximum

Essay about What Really Happened During the First...
There can be countless records of the same event, and while many times each record is different,
there are also incidents in which one needs to know every record to piece together what really
happened. The story of the first Thanksgiving takes place in 1621, and is generally known as a
meal that was shared between the Pilgrims and the Indians. For the Pilgrims, this was a harvest
festival, much like one they would have had in England. For the Indians, it was a show of
hospitality from the Pilgrims, similar to what they would expect from visiting another Indian tribe.
With being told only that, one can already see that there are already two very different histories of
the same event recorded. Of greater interest, perhaps, are the different... Show more content on

The History Channel s Desperate Crossing tells the story of the Pilgrims, their journey to
Plymouth, their horrible first year, and finally, the first Thanksgiving. Desperate Crossing follows
the accounts of both Winslow and Bradford fairly well, but begins to deviate slightly. They show
that the Pilgrims and Indians played games, drank, and raced, and competed together, some of
which are only vaguely and briefly alluded to by Winslow, and never by Bradford. The History
Channel also shows a much more tense situation than the impression given from Bradford and
Winslow. According to the History Channel, everything from Massasoitshowing up with his ninety
some men and the Pilgrims firing their arms is all a display of strength from both sides.
The History Channel obviously takes some liberties in their presentation of history. Winslow and
Bradford do not mention anything about the clothing worn, if there was any drinking involved,
if there was silverware, where the feasts were held, and many other seemingly trivial details.
Desperate Crossing makes some assumptions on what took place in 1621, but it does quote both
Winslow and Bradford word for word. While we re shown a picture that may or may not actually
represent what took place at the first Thanksgiving, at the very least, we re given Winslow s and
Bradford s descriptions of it. The History Channel used what was already known from the eye
witness accounts combined with what

Compare And Contrast Massachusetts Bay And Jamestown
Jamestown V.S. Massachusetts Bay Jamestown and Massachusetts Bay were the first English
colonies formed in North America in the early 1600 s. While the Jamestown settlers searched for
gold, the Massachusetts Bay colonist came to escape persecution in England and obtain religious
freedoms. Although Jamestown and MassachusettsBay were both English colonies, they both share
many similarities as well as differences socially, economically, and politically. Social similarities
include the dealings with Native Americans. (examples of each) During the time of these colonies
settlement, they both had accounts with Native Americans in the area. In the early times of settling
each colony had friendly relations with the natives. Jamestown formed alliances with the Powhatan
people, while Massachusetts Bay fell into relations with the Pequot tribe. Each settlement relied on
Native Americans to survive in the New World. The Powhatan people taught colonist John Rolfe

The Patterns Of Teen Drug Abuse
A pattern that we ve seen erupt over the last couple of years is the habit of teenagers and young
adults falling prey to party drugs, there s been a sense of normalcy placed along with a pill popping
culture, you ll notice rappers almost romanticizing and influencing teenagers into experimenting
with prescription drugs. What most people don t take into consideration before consuming these
drugs is that most prescription opioids have addictive side effects, that when taken in long term
or copious amounts can cause the user to experience withdrawals and ultimately draw them back
in a continuous cycle. Most would say, why can t they just not take the drugs? Or claim it was
the users fault because they know better. While they are not entirely right, it s not wrong either.
Research shows that a large majority of teens will find themselves in a position where they will
be offered drugs before the age of 14 at a party, this decision will ultimately affect their life in the
long run, be it becoming a social outcast from their peers for not trying these drugs, or taking them
and developing an addiction that will surely harm their bodies before they ve truly became adults.
Teen drug overdose is an issue that dates back over multiple generations, with each finding their
own ways to get recreational highs. However, there was a significant increase in death from years
1999 to 2007 within age groups 15 19(1). As time goes on, higher percentages of teens experiment

Residential Treatment Center Case
In 2010, my cousin went on a hiking trip with her Residential Treatment Center (RTC). On that

However, Piri was treated badly by the school, public transportation, workplace and the

Legal Issues In Amistad
Amistad
Amistad is a film produced by Steven Spielberg the person who created E.T and Jurassic park. la
Amistad is based on the true story of the events in 1839 aboard the slave ship Amistad, during
which Mende tribesmen abducted for the slave trade managed to gain control of their captors ship
off the coast of Cuba, and the international legal battle that followed their capture by a U.S. revenue
cutter. The case was ultimately resolved by the Supreme Court in 1841.
The plot was that a Spanish slave ship called Amistad was traveling from Cuba to the U.S. As the
ship is crossing from Cuba to the United States, Cinque, a leader of the Africans, leads a mutiny
and takes over the ship. The mutineers spare the lives ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the astonishing facts revealed in Steven Spielberg s Amistad is that seven of the nine U.S.
Supreme Court justices in 1839 were slave owning Southerners. His new film centers on the legal
status of Africans who rise up against their captors on the high seas and are brought to trial in a
New England court. Slavery itself is not the issue. Instead, the court must decide whether the
defendants were born of slaves (in which case they are guilty of murder) or were illegally
brought from Africa (and therefore had a right to defend themselves against kidnapping). This
legal distinction is not made as clear as it could have been; the international slave trade had been
outlawed by treaties by 1839, the year of the landmark Amistad incident, but those who were
already slaves remained the property of their masters as did their children. The moral hair splitting
underlying that distinction is truly depraved, but on it depends the defense of Cinque, the leader
of the Africans, and his fellow mutineers. The film opens on the ship Amistad, where Cinque is
able to free himself from shackles and release his fellow prisoners. They rise up against the
Spanish crew of the ship, which is taking them from a Havana slave market to another destination
in Cuba. The two men who bought them are spared, and promise to guide the ship back to Africa.
But they guide it instead into

What Type Of Adwords Advertising Campaign Should I Start...
2. What Types Of AdWords Advertising Campaign Should I Start With?
Set up the best Google AdWords campaign for your business needs. The first question to ask is,
What type of AdWords advertising campaign should I start with? Before you ask, it s important to
understand the difference between them.
Ads go far beyond those little boxes filled with words and pictures that pop up when someone
conducts a Google search. When it comes to Google AdWords, there are two main types of ad
campaigns the search network, and the display network. Though, it is also possible to select a
combination of search and display network ads. Additionally, there are some specifically focused
campaigns that use shopping, video and apps to draw and keep customers. Here are some of the
most widely used and successful ad campaign types.
The Search Network The way this type of advertising campaign works is that you link AdWords to
keywords and phrases. When someone searches for these linked key words or phrases, your ad
will show up. The ads that appear are relevant to the person s search. The person searching looks
up what they want under a category heading through Google much like they used to do with a
phone directory or Yellow Pages. For instance, if you are searching for a dentist, related ads for
dentists will conveniently appear. The Search Network type of ad campaign targets the search
partners so that your ads display not only in a Google search but also in other Google partners, like

Life Choices in Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken and...
Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken and Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening both portray
weighing of choices in life. The former is about youth and experiencing life and the latter is
about old age, or more probably, an old spirit wearied by life. In both poems the speaker is in a
critical situation where he has to choose between two paths in life. In The Road Not taken the
speaker chooses the unconventional approach to the decision making process, thus showing his
uniqueness and challenging mentality while in Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening the
speaker seeks a life without any pain and struggle but at the end, he has to comply with social
obligation, which reflects his responsibility towards the society.
In the poem, The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By choosing the harder path, the speaker declares his rebellion against the popular opinion as
represented by the other road. He decides not to conform to society and takes up a less popular
choice. When considering his choices the speaker shows the typical human reaction. He considers
taking both paths at first. He says, Oh I kept the first for another day , but later confesses he
doubted if [he] should ever come back (13 15). Thus the poem s significance lies in the speakers
making a decision by choosing a road and moving on with his life. The act of choosing the road
represents his uniqueness and the fact that he is always moving forward, even without stopping.
Like The Road Not Taken , in Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening , the speaker has to make
a big decision in his life. He has to choose between isolation and social obligation. At first glance,
this poem might denote stopping in the woods to escape the hustle and bustle of city life.
Different symbols in this poem though reveal that stop in the poem could be referring to death.
In this phrase Between the woods and frozen lake , the wood becomes a symbol of life where
frozen lake signifies death. When the speaker reaches the woods, he finds a world offering
perfect, quiet and solitude, existing side by side with the realization that there is also another
world, a world of people and social obligation. Both

Improving Performance Appraisal For Employees
Improving Performance Appraisal for Employees
Introduction
One of the most important things in a company or organization is the performance appraisals that
are given to the employees, some management and upper management. A performance appraisal
can give so much information not only to the employer but also to the employee. There are many
different types of performance appraisal out there, also because every job is different the
performance for the different. A performance appraisal is important in any company because the
employee knows how they are doing well as the management staff. Performance appraisal are also
great because it shows it an employee need additional training or show improvement in certain
areas that they was having trouble in also if they are ready to go to the next step like a promotion
or a raise.
Literature Review/Findings
With any company that has employee is working for them they have a standard that they must
abide by. Some companies only do performance appraisals once a year and think that it is
effective way to rate their employees on company standard and to issue compensation and
discipline if need to. This not that very effective to run a business with employees the best way is
to do quarterly performance appraisals that way if an employee needs to be reprimanded it can be
done to correct the behavior before it gets to out of hand. According to Michael Aamodt, the author

Early Nuclear Physics Essay
1 Introduction
1.1 A Brief History of Early Nuclear Physics
In the early 1900s it was seen that a small number of alpha particles were deflected by a large
angle, the current model at the time predicted only small deflections of the particles. These results
were explained by introducing a tiny positively charged nucleus into our picture of the atom.
Although beta decay had been observed as early as 1896 and was known to contain electrons, it
wasn t until 1914 that they would break the law of energy conservation if just composed of
electrons. To account for the discrepancy in energy during beta decay, Wolfgang Pauli suggested
that a very light, neutral charged particle was also released during beta decay, this particle was

There are numerous models that have been used to describe nuclear structure and the physical
properties that arise. A mathematical model can be scrutinised in a large number of ways, does
the model agree with existing data, can the model be used to make physical predictions, what
assumptions are made etc.. Currently a large factor used in deciding whether to use a model, is the
dif ficulty in solving this mathematical model to produce physical values. A much more
complicated model may give the most accurate results, but the difficulty in obtaining any result
e.g. the computational time required, is not worth the gain in accuracy. A trade off must be made
in deciding on the physical model to be used in the situation. In this article a number of different
models will be discussed, the formulation and the uses of these models will be studied, as well as
there uses in physics. Due to the vast number of areas that nuclear physics is used, such as in cancer
treatments, material processing etc. improvements in our nuclear models are very important and
not just studied for scientific curiosity. [3]

Robert Boyle s Discovery Of The Charcoal, Graphite, And...
Dating to the prehistoric times, carbon have already been founded as the charcoal by Egyptians
and Sumerians. The founder s name is still unknown. Carbon s name comes from its Latin name
carbo which means burnt wood. Although, the use of carbon was from a very early time, people
never see it as an element until Robert Boyle s discovery in seventeenth century. Carbonoccurs
naturally as many forms included anthracite, graphite, and diamond. Charcoal and soot were
more prevalent in history and diamond was much more difficult to identify. Giuseppe Averani
and Cipriano Targioni were the first people who discovered that diamond could be destroyed by
heating. In 1694, they made the diamond disappeared just by using a gem and a large magnifying
glass to focus the sunlight to the diamond. In 1772, Antoine Lavoisier showed that diamonds are a
form of carbon because when he burned the samples of charcoal and diamond, they didn t produce
any water and they both released the same amount of carbon dioxide per gram.
In 1779, Carl Wilhelm Scheele showed another allotrope of carbon graphite, which were known
as a form of lead in early times. He found out that graphite was almost identical to charcoal except
a small admixture of iron, and when it oxidized with nitric acid, it gave out aerial acid (carbon
dioxide). In 1786, the French scientists Claude Louis Berthollet, Gaspard Monge and Vandermonde
confirmed that graphite was mostly carbon by oxidizing with oxygen in the same way

The German Shepherd Dog Essay

The German Shepherd is not only one of the world s most popular companion dogs, but also
probably the most widely used breed for service work. The development of the German Shepherd
Dog, along with a number of existing breeds, helped pioneer the modern use of dogs for service
and community work that we can see today. For a breed of dog that has only been officially
recognised for just over 100 years, it has made an outstanding contribution to mankind worldwide.
The origins of the breed came from various sheep dogs found in Germany during the last century.

The success of guide dogs has since been proven worldwide. The United States also later formed a
Seeing Eye Dog School using German Shepherds. This occurred in 1929 in the US State of New
Jersey. Although the Labrador retrieverdoes the majority of guide dog work in Australia, the
German Shepherd remains one of the most popular choices for this type of work worldwide.
During the 1920 s, canine movie stars such as Rin Tin Tin and Strongheart made the breed
extremely popular outside of Germany. Great harm was caused as unscrupulous breeders, keen to
cash in on this newfound popularity, introduced poor breeding practices which, along with some
irresponsible owners, worked against the founding principles of the breed.
Anti German sentiment following the First World War, caused the British to re name the breed as
the Alsatian Wolf Dog. Although all dogs are thought to have evolved from wolves, the name
Alsatian Wolf Dog led some people to believe the German shepherd had been directly bred from
wolves. The truth is that the German shepherd carries no more wolves blood than any other breed.
The year 1925 saw the breed s official Australian history begin with the importation of Crufts
winner Ito of Fallowdale into Australia. Also on the same boat was Pinkerton Rhoda. As a number
of further importations followed, graziers and pastoralists in Australia began to express concerns
that the breed was dangerous. This was partly based on the

Death-Marked Love
A Star Crossed Review of Death Marked Love.
Today I have just finished watching the movie Romeo and Juliet, and I d like to give my
personal opinion of the movie. The movie has tons of love scenes and fights. The company
Paramount Pictures published the movie in 1968. The director was Franco Zeffirelli. The plot of
Romeo and Juliet is relatively simple. Romeo goes to a ball, Juliet is there, Romeo see Juliet, and
he falls in love. The same night, Juliet falls in love with Romeo. The movie takes place in Verona,
Italy. The main characters are Romeo and Juliet, two young lovers whose families have been
feuding. The story is about the two lovers trying to be together, but their families constantly get in
the way.
For the most part, the actors did fairly well. I especially enjoyed the performance of Romeo, played
by Leonard Whiting. He brought Romeo to life but not in an overly exaggerated way. Juliet, played
by Olivia Hussey, also did a decent job. However, when it came to trying scenes, she did that same
crying voice and pose. It got repetitive towards the end and killed the moments that were supposed
to be heart wrenching. The Nurse and Priest did an excellent job, but I expected that from veteran
actors. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

reasons. One, there s that mild nudity scene that we skipped over, the multiple deaths, and lastly
two people commit suicide over each other! That is not a great message to send to kids! With PG

Private Property In John Locke s Second Treatise Of Society
Society can be structured in many ways. A good society requires mutual consent amongst its
members, and private property is at the root of earning this consent. In John Locke s Second
Treatise of Government, private property defines man as an individual, forces him into a society,
and is his instrument in achieving justice. It explains how man goes from existing in a state of
nature to participation in a social contract. Aristotle s Politics is concerned with how private
propertyis closely connected to the virtue of a city and the pursuit of a good life. Thomas More s
Utopiasatirizes the ideal city because it completely abolishes private property. The author argues
that this is possible in a far fetched city, but it cannot bring order to a city that is already
established. From these three works, it is evident that private property is essential to the proper
organization of a city because it allows for individuality and development of the virtues. It is
important that labor be involved in the claiming of private property. Locke believes the earth is
common property until a person exerts his or her activity on it (18 20). It eliminates any doubt or
quarreling over who has a right to what property (Locke 27). Since it is labor indeed that puts the
difference of value on everything, people are set apart by the amount of unique effort they exert to
obtain their property. This proves man is perfectly his own and does not belong in common to
others (Locke 29). Rather than

Inequality In Shakespeare
In Shakespeare s view ever since creation of God man is regarded as the supreme being on the
planet, next only to God, the paragon of animals, a strange piece of work. His interest in the
universe is considered paramount although discoveries of modern science have brought about a
great change. Some people consider him divine and his suffering and primordial fall from heaven
have aroused protest and rebellion. Most of literature written in the world so far sings of man s
joys and sorrows rise and fall in the world. Voices are raised against segregation and differentiation
at various points. Of late interests of woman and her welfare have drawn international attention and
a feminist chore is audible worldwide. Rebellion against tradition, established... Show more content

God has bifurcated sex into male and female whereas man has named in the sex and the fair sex or
the superior and the inferior or the first and the second sex. The gender inequality has created
unlawful male authority over women. The chief tasks of women were childbearing, rearing, and to
satiate every desire of their husbands. This confinement of women made them mere servants of the
superior sex. Education is one big question that haunts Amitav Ghosh. According to Amitav Ghosh
education is memorization of facts at one level. It is a tool to get a livelihood. It sharpens human
sensitivities. It kindles social consciousness in children. Education uplifts living standards of Indian
masses and save them from nightmarish depths of poverty, ignorance and disease. Thus we find
that through the women characters of his novel Sea of Poppies Ghosh wants to focuses on the evils
of Indian society or the falls conception of Indian society about women. All women characters in
Sea of Poppies show the real sufferings of women either by their family or by their society. All the
human sufferings are the impediments on their way of

Jamacia Kimcaid s Girl
Girl is a story by Jamacia Kimcaid and it is about a mother who has a series of instructions for
her daughter on how she should live her life. She constantly accuses and ridicules the girl about
being a slut and singing calypso songs in church. She tells the girl how she must plant foods, how
she must take care of herself and her house so as not to reveal herself as a slut . Her tone changes
towards the end when she tells the girlto touch the bread at the bakery to see if it is right, to which
the daughter asks what to do if the baker doesn t let her. The mother then says what kind of girl is
she that the baker won t even let her touch bread? The mother is seemingly unreasonable and cruel
towards the girl who seems honest and innocent as she listens to her mother s instructions on how
to complete the tasks in her life. One theme of this story is that of a jealous or vindictive mother
that thinks of her child as no good and commands her to be good she must obey everything she
says. Another theme is that there are many unfair double standards put on young women not only
by men but by other women as well.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The man describes his fears and anxieties about the encounter he is about to have when
approaching the car. He tells about how the teens who he crashed into have every right to become
very angry and possibly violent towards him. He is chagrinned and then relieved when he learns
that the car was just bought today but that the teenagers are not violently upset. The encounter
goes better than he expected but he still beats himself up about how it was his fault and how
guilty he feels. The theme to this story is that of preconceived notions and irrational fears where
someone does something not so good and then worries and frets over it until it becomes a much
bigger deal in their head than it really

Jack Welch Paper
The analogy of a leader involves the head, the heart, and the feet, but according to Welch, there
are four essential traits of leadership, a female trait, and two critical questions. I would rightly
conclude that the seven characteristics of Jack Welch do not cover the bases and the analogy of a
leader. The seven characteristics of a leader that Jack Welch looks for in a leader emphasizes more
on one area than the others. There is more emphasis on the heart than the other areas. From the
ideology of the analogy, I discovered that Jack Welch`s characteristics have about 71 % of it
concentrated on the heart.
I disagree with how Jack Welch`s prioritized those characteristics because I personally think that
passion should be the first the seven characteristics because it is the force that empowers one to
take an initiative in a certain field. The second characteristic should be energy because before one
can be a leader, he or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

good reason he was made prefect because he exhibited very good leadership qualities, far better
than his predecessors . He worked very hard at odd times to keep the house intact. He had the
ability to energize people. He was good at this quality because I was inspired to do more when I
was playing in house`s soccer team. He had the edge as well because there was a moment when
he left school to go to the house to do some cleaning for some unannounced house inspection. He
also had the courage to ask his seniors to leave the house so cleaning could be done because the
seniors at that time were not obliged to clean. He could execute meaning he did everything in his
power to make sure the work is done and it is done well. He performed his duties so well that
during his reign my house was crowned best house award . I would conclude that he met Welch`s

God and how he helps you pull through the bad circumstances and makes the best of the great
ones. Christy Miller, native of Wisconsin and 14 years old, moves to California with her Aunt
Marti and Uncle Bob. Christy lived on a farm, so she had no idea of the luxuries someone could
have like clothes, relaxing on the beach, makeup, and beauty, but her aunt made sure that she
learned the amenities of a teenager. Christy met her first love, named Todd, and he was different
than all of the other surfers. Todd believed in Christ, and that God was the person who controlled

Identity, Hegemony, And Played Through The Dynamics Of...
McIntosh (2009) offers an intriguing case study, where the concepts of personhood, hegemony,
and fractal recursivity are intertwined and played through the dynamics of Swahili Giriama
bordered ethnoreligious interactions. The Giriama geographical, social, religious, and linguistic
subordination to the Swahili Muslims is the framework to negotiate, resist or submit to the
hegemonic Swahili Islam. First, through personhood, the Giriama frame their religious actions
and relations with the Swahilis. Their actions are collective and caused by external powers,
rather than individualistically bounded and rational actors as the Swahilis. How Arabic in this
case is perceived amplify this notion, as Swahilis take it to be accessible via learning and
memorizing, and Giriama take it to be accessible through spirit possession by Muslim spirits.
This reinforces their submission and lose of identity by adopting Arabic (p. 255). Second,
hegemony plays a significant role in shaping how power is lived and replicated in daily life, to be
accepted or rejected by the society. Therefore, Giriama attitude towards Swahili Muslims is
exhibited in their refusal to submit to Islam and instead cherish their traditionalism, yet they
oftentimes acknowledge Islam s power and the potency of Arabic through divination and spirit
possession. Third, fractal recursivity is shown through how the Giriama s evident urbanity is
opposed to them living on the margins of the city thus closer to the jungle and their

Hamlet
Dearest friends, family and the people of Denmark. We gather here today to mourn the loss of the
noble prince, loyal son and true friend, Prince Hamlet. But we are not here only to mourn, but to
reminisce the times we have spent with him, both the good and the bad and to remember him as the
person he was. Prince Hamletdid not live a very fortunate, on the contrary his final weeks were
filled with a tragedy none of us should have to bear, but he lived his life to the full and I am sure
that he has, in some way touched the lives of all of us here today.
Hamlet passed away young, a mere 30 years of age, and I sincerely regret that I will never be able
to see such a fine young man take command of the throne and restore nobility to the state ... Show

However, it is this that I will miss most of you and I am sure all present today will miss these
qualities in you.
Hamlet was deeply in love with the recently departed fair Ophelia, daughter of Polonious, who
also sadly is not with us. He loved her much more than he expressed, and it is unfortunate that his
inability to express his love for her could have been part of her downfall. Although he treated her
scornfully and rudely I know that he loved her more than anyone could imagine. Hamlet, I
remember, at the dear Ophelia s funeral, you told the whole world of your love. I loved Ophelia.
40 thousand brothers could not, with all their quantity of love make up my sum, you said. I cannot
help but think that if you had expressed your love for the fair maiden, both her and quite possibly
you would still be with us today. He loved his mother, Queen Gertrude. Although he held her in
disdain for her hasty marriage to Claudius, who he despised, he still loved her with all his heart
I ask everyone present here today, not to remember Hamlet as the apparent madman he was in
his final days, for this is not a showing of his true self, it was an extremely intelligent plan which
would restore nobility to the royal family. Hamlet, as your dying wish I promised that I would tell
the people what you have done for your country and I am honoured that I can share your story here
today.
You showed great bravery and trust

Sarah was a curious girl. She had just turned 13 this summer. School had started and it was
moving painstakingly slowly. Sarah often got bored in their little town of Ashton in northern
Maine. It was one of those towns that you would never find on a map, or in real life. It was
hidden behind a forest of green pine trees, and they hardly ever had new residents. The only people
who lived there had had generations of family before them. Sarah was a part of one of those
families. She had only left Ashton one time in her whole life, to find her missing cat. She never
found Jamie of course, but it felt amazing to just get away. By 12 years old Sarah felt so cooped

The wind was strong. It pushed and pulled in every direction. You could practically feel it
whooshing around you, trying to dig into every crack and crevice of bare skin, as if it was
trying to freeze you on the spot. It was definitely a strange day to begin with. Someone should
have expected it. No one did. He showed up while Sarah was in the middle of playing trucks with
Jason, her little brother. Their parents burst into the door with worried looks on their faces. Mama,
Papa, what s wrong? Sarah asked. They quickly changed expressions. Nothing honey, there is just a
new man in town. her mother said. Sarah was confused. I didn t know new people ever came
here. Her parents glanced at each other. Well he s not really new, her father added. I ve never seen
him before. said Sarah. Her mother butted in. It s getting late, Sarah would you set the table? Jason
go shower and change, make yourself look presentable.
But mother,
No Sarah, kitchen, now. Sarah knew there was no negotiating. Fine. she growled.
The next day, Sarah saw him. A very tall slender man. He had eyes as green as grass and hair,
black as night. What she was watching him do was even more exciting than her finally witnessing
something, or someone, new. He was hammering in a sign. It had large black letters, it s color a bit
like his hair, that read LIBRARY. Sarah gasped with excitement. Suddenly, the man turned around.
It was as if he could tell she was watching him. Something

  • 2. The Rite of Spring Essay When one thinks of a ballet they hear soft rhythmic notes and see elegantly dancing ballerinas softly tip toeing around the stage. This is also what people in early 1900 s expected to see when they planned to attend a ballet. However, a couple of motivated artists in 1913 literally planned to change the design of ballet, music and dance forever. On May 29, 1913 a ballet named The Rite of Springpremiered in Paris, France. The original title as it translates from Russian to French is; Le Sacre du Printemps, meaning the rite of spring, but the literal translation from Russian to English means Sacred Spring . The ballet and music were composed by Igor Stravinsky, with the help of Nicholas Roerich, who proposed the general idea behind the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike traditional ballet The Rite of Spring featured sharply bent arms and legs that focused on barbarian depictions of life rather than the elegant, graceful representations used in conventional ballet. The violent dance steps depicted fertility rites, which is what provoked the earliest interruptions during the ballet. While Nijinsky was creating the dance for the ballet, Roerich was creating the setting and costumes to accurately portray this sacrificial rite. The use of such primitive pagan images were something that the people were not accustomed to. It was a topic that the world was not yet ready to deal with. But the visuals of the ballet were not the only historic part; the music had an even greater impact. The music was composed by Igor Stravinsky, who considered himself an inventor of music. He was also known for many controversial works reminiscent of Nijinsky. He created many works that blasted the whole realm of music into other possibilities, in which it would never return from. He started his career writing music for other ballets like Firebird and Petrouchka, which were grand and familiar like traditional ballet, but had a small hint of a more modern tone. It was not until The Rite of Spring that Stravinsky s work was truly inspirational. This work tested the future of the 20th century classical music, and in many ways it paved the path to a modernized view. There are still many who do not understand how he ... • 3. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Alternative Dispute... There are different forms of alternative dispute resolutions, each having advantages and disadvantages. The key to understanding the advantages and disadvantages of the forms of dispute resolutions is the be knowledgeable of the meaning and the use of alternative dispute resolution. Alternative Dispute Resolution is said to, offers parties alternative means of resolving their differences outside actual courtroom litigation and the costly preparation for it , (Jennings, M., 2015 pg. 101). Arbitrationis one form of dispute resolution. Arbitration is defined as the, oldest form of ADR and was once the most popular form of alternative dispute, but its increasing costs and time commitment have found businesses and lawyers labeling it, no different from litigation (Jennings, M., 2015 pg. 101). The advantages of arbitration include; the members of both parties agree to have the same arbitrator, someone both sides trust. Other advantages include; the process of arbitration is quicker than waiting on a court date, the fees are not expensive as it is when paying court fees, there is very limited chances that an appeal will happen, and there is more privacy in arbitration compared to having a trial. The disadvantages of arbitration are; once a decision is made it is final because both parties gave up the right to an appeal, in some cases the arbitrator fees can be more expensive depending on the evidence needed, any evidence can be considered in arbitration unlike in court ... • 4. Arguments For And Against Scepticism Scepticism can be defined as A view that doubts whether any of our beliefs can be supported by adequate or sufficient evidence. (Richard H. Popkin, 1993, p. 182). This essay will be discussing the arguments for and against the practise of scepticism. It will be focusing on the ideas of Socrates, Descartes, Hume and Wittgenstein and it will elaborate on how their opinions on scepticism contrast, in part, due to their historical setting. It will clarify and identify scepticisms role in society and the changing role of philosophyfrom ancient to modern times. Socrates began a revolution in philosophy when he called philosophy down from the heavens (Popkin, 1999, p. 23). He challenged the moral complaceny of his fellow citizens in Athens. He embarressed them with their inabililty to answer questions such as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To define scepticism would go against its very principle as that definition could very well be doubted as its true form which in turn shows the primary flaw of scepticism itself to question everything is to never move forward on a basis of acceptance. Therefore scepticism should be used sparsely as questioning does help us move forward as a society. For example questioning medical practices can help to advance a field by investing in new studies. Hume s science of man principal is an example of how investing moderately in scepticism can help society. If there was an absence of sceptics in the world we would be stuck in a never ending circle. Scepticism helps to influence others with an opinion that may not always be the most popular. Wittgenstein gives examples just how far scepticism can go with his arguments against Solipsism. This is the danger of scepticism; this chosen isolation from the rest of humanity can lead to the beginning of cults and sects which can have disastrous impacts on society. Scepticism in its finest form, is when it is balanced and used with some common ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Evolution of Australian Biota Assessment Answers a) Discuss current research into the evolutionary relationships between extinct species, including megafauna and extant Australian species. Megafauna simply means large animals, in which most have become extinct within the last 20 000 to 50 000 years. The extinction of megafauna was, debatably, due to climate change and human expansion. Although, Africa still retains some megafauna, such as the elephant or the rhinoceros. Australia has managed to keep many examples of relict species, some from the time of the megafauna. These include the Crocodile, Wollemi Pine and Stromatolites. Megafauna are not direct ancestors of the current animals, rather certain animals both evolved from a common ancestor. An example of this can be seen in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the 1940s, an Australia scientist invented the Platypussary. This was technology that attempted to stimulate its natural habitat, hoping to breed a pair. In 1943, the first Platypus was bred in captivity, which gave scientists much research into lifestyle and breeding habits; gestation and pre and post natal processes. Another scientific question was that of its body temperature, but with the development of radiotelementary scientists ideas about this changed. Radiotelementary can record body temperature and transmit this information. It has helped scientists in understanding whether the Platypus can maintain its body temperature when swimming in cold water. Scientists have contiuned to develop their ideas through the research of amino acids, which allowed them to observe trends between the sequences of placentals and marsupials. Fossils have also been an important technological development in understanding the Platypus. As well as cell observation, allowing Scientists to discover the Platypus salt retaining kidneys. Another huge discovery about Platypus was able to come about because of new technology, the question of how the Platypus got its food. Using Electron Microscopy, scientists were able to observe the Platypus bill. The discovery was made that the bill had extremely sensitive touch receptors which helped the Platypus navigate underwater with its eyes closed, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Reagan Cold War Research Paper During the beginning of the Reagan presidency, Cold War pressure between the Soviet Union and the United States boosted. Reagan entered office deeply cautious of the Soviet Union. Reagan characterized the Soviet Union as an evil empire and called for a space based missile defense system, battered by critics as Star Wars. Reagan and his aides tended to view every regional battle through a Cold War lens. Nowhere was this more accurate than in the Western Hemisphere, where he was firm to avoid a Communist increase, In October 1983, Prime Minister Maurice Bishop of Grenada, a small island nation in the Caribbean, was killed and a more capital Marxist government took control, Afterward Soviet money and Cuban troops came to Grenada. When they started to create an airfield adequate of landing large military aircraft, the Reagan administration assured to abolish the Communists and bring up a pro American tenure. • 8. Keats And Longfellow Analysis In John Keats s When I Have My fears and Henry Longfellow s Mezzo Cammin , the poets share their outlook on death. Both writers filled themselves with the concern of dying before they created a fulfilling life. Although Keats and Longfellow both portrayed their similar theme using parallel structures and language, the two works differ in the two poets rhyme schemes and tones. In the beginning quatrain of When I Have My Fears , Keats begins by writing about his doubt that his insight might not have time to reach other people. He worries his most important thoughts will not be written down and there will be no books that share his valuable knowledge. Keats moves on through the next quatrain by revealing to the audience that another concern... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the beginning of the sonnets follow a different rhyme scheme. Keats chose to follow the ABAB pattern while Longfellow selected an ABBA arrangement. Both then continue to follow the standard sonnet structure CDCD EFEF GG and use the break in between the second and third quatrains to shift thoughts, otherwise known as the volta. At the volta of each poem is where we truly see how each poet feels about death. Keats appears more accepting of death where Longfellow struggles with the idea of letting it conquer him. Besides the similar structure, another way the poems compare is in the language the poets create. Keats and Longfellow admit to the fear that they will pass before they have the opportunity to make their mark on the Earth. They chose to view death as vast and imminent. The poets also show comparison in their writing by connecting nature to their works. Keats looks up at the starred sky and reflects on his theme and Longfellow looks up a mountain. Despite using similar structure, language, and themes, Keats and Longfellow create different tones that depict their attitudes about death. In When I Have My Fears , Keats recognized death as inevitable, but includes these elements to create a reverent and accepting tone. However, Longfellow feels as though he will never live up to the life he desired for himself and uses the language and structure to create ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The biggest question today remains why has this been such a relevant topic across the U.S. lately? The use of deadly force is specifically important because it directly affects the publics attitudes and behaviors towards the policeand government. Some will blame police policies, some will blame abuse of power, and some even claim the use of deadly force is necessary to in order to properly defend themselves. • 10. Reaction Paper On Deviance Throughout the semester deviance has been our primary focus of the class, I actually have gotten into the habit of determining things that I do whether they fall under the spectrum of deviant behavior. Certain behaviors correlate with certain theories that have been enmeshed into categories. Since many theories can be grouped together to explain certain behaviors I actually have a few that I am going to be talking about today. But the main form of deviance that I will be focusing on today is rape. Emotional numbness, Anxiety, loss of confidence and constant flashbacks are just an array of things that these young girls will have to deal with for the rest of their lives. Rape is something that continues to happen not only in the United States, but in every country, and is continuing to ruin many people s lives. Also there are myths that women and young girls are the main victims when it comes to rape cases, although there may be many cases that are directed mainly towards women , men and young boys are also victims. I believe that because it is more common for women to get raped it s easier in a way to report it as to where if it were a male, he may not want to report it because he would feel demasculinized, and embarrassed. But what if you lived in a country where rape is considered normal amongst the villagers because young girls , simply had it coming to them because for some reason they looked at a man or said thank you to them. • 11. Michael Faraday And The Chemistry World For my term paper I have chosen to study the works of Michael Faraday, a very significant name in the Chemistry world especially in understanding electrochemistry and electromagnetism. He had a number of accomplishments over his career including writing a manual of practical chemistry, discovered a large number of new organic compounds, as well as liquefying what was thought to be a permanent solid. His largest discovery, and what I will be discussing in this paper is his advancements in the world of electrochemistry He was at the forefront of producing electric currents from a magnetic field, invented the first electric motor, was able to demonstrate how electricity and chemical bonding connect, amongst and array of other accomplishments. Mr. Michael Faradaywas born on September 22nd, 1791 in Newington Butts, Surrey (New London) England. He was a child of James Faraday, a blacksmith from Yorkshire and Margaret Hastwell, who worked around the house. He had three siblings (another born after him) and was born a few months after they had moved to Newington Butts. His family was struggling when he was younger due to his father s poor health condition but they stayed close together and attended church; this gave them a sense of community and support behind them. Michael was able to attend a day school where he had learned how to read, write, count, and do simple math. He did this until he was 13 and then had to find work so he could help his family s financial issues. An ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Implementation of SMT Concept in Intel Processor Essay The main idea of this article is implementation of SMT concept in Intel processor which is based on efficient use of limited amount of processor resources such that at OS and software level it is seems just like multiple processors are running multiple processes. It is less costly and more efficient. Sharing policy is also playing an important role in performance improvement. Background: In order to improve processor performance following traditional approaches like higher clock speeds, instruction level parallelism, and cache hierarchies were used. But now thread level parallelism is also taken into consideration. Higher clock speed: Achieve by microarchitecture pipelining to finer granularities known as superpipelining. Large number of... From a microarchitecture perspective, it means that instructions will persist and execute simultaneously on shared execution resources. Microarchitecture choices and tradeoffs: To share resources, we chose among possible sharing schemes that included partition threshold full sharing Partition: In a partitioned resource, each logical processor can use only half the entries. Resource partitioning is simple and low complex. It works best for the major pipeline queues in the in order pipeline. There can be countless records of the same event, and while many times each record is different, there are also incidents in which one needs to know every record to piece together what really happened. The story of the first Thanksgiving takes place in 1621, and is generally known as a meal that was shared between the Pilgrims and the Indians. For the Pilgrims, this was a harvest festival, much like one they would have had in England. For the Indians, it was a show of hospitality from the Pilgrims, similar to what they would expect from visiting another Indian tribe. With being told only that, one can already see that there are already two very different histories of the same event recorded. Of greater interest, perhaps, are the different... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The History Channel s Desperate Crossing tells the story of the Pilgrims, their journey to Plymouth, their horrible first year, and finally, the first Thanksgiving. Desperate Crossing follows the accounts of both Winslow and Bradford fairly well, but begins to deviate slightly. They show that the Pilgrims and Indians played games, drank, and raced, and competed together, some of which are only vaguely and briefly alluded to by Winslow, and never by Bradford. The History Channel also shows a much more tense situation than the impression given from Bradford and Winslow. According to the History Channel, everything from Massasoitshowing up with his ninety some men and the Pilgrims firing their arms is all a display of strength from both sides. The History Channel obviously takes some liberties in their presentation of history. Winslow and Bradford do not mention anything about the clothing worn, if there was any drinking involved, if there was silverware, where the feasts were held, and many other seemingly trivial details. Desperate Crossing makes some assumptions on what took place in 1621, but it does quote both Winslow and Bradford word for word. While the Jamestown settlers searched for gold, the Massachusetts Bay colonist came to escape persecution in England and obtain religious freedoms. Although Jamestown and MassachusettsBay were both English colonies, they both share many similarities as well as differences socially, economically, and politically. Social similarities include the dealings with Native Americans. (examples of each) During the time of these colonies settlement, they both had accounts with Native Americans in the area. In the early times of settling each colony had friendly relations with the natives. Jamestown formed alliances with the Powhatan people, while Massachusetts Bay fell into relations with the Pequot tribe. Each settlement relied on Native Americans to survive in the New World. The Patterns Of Teen Drug Abuse A pattern that we ve seen erupt over the last couple of years is the habit of teenagers and young adults falling prey to party drugs, there s been a sense of normalcy placed along with a pill popping culture, you ll notice rappers almost romanticizing and influencing teenagers into experimenting with prescription drugs. What most people don t take into consideration before consuming these drugs is that most prescription opioids have addictive side effects, that when taken in long term or copious amounts can cause the user to experience withdrawals and ultimately draw them back in a continuous cycle. Most would say, why can t they just not take the drugs? Or claim it was the users fault because they know better. While they are not entirely right, it s not wrong either. Research shows that a large majority of teens will find themselves in a position where they will be offered drugs before the age of 14 at a party, this decision will ultimately affect their life in the long run, be it becoming a social outcast from their peers for not trying these drugs, or taking them and developing an addiction that will surely harm their bodies before they ve truly became adults. The case was ultimately resolved by the Supreme Court in 1841. One of the astonishing facts revealed in Steven Spielberg s Amistad is that seven of the nine U.S. Supreme Court justices in 1839 were slave owning Southerners. His new film centers on the legal status of Africans who rise up against their captors on the high seas and are brought to trial in a New England court. Slavery itself is not the issue. Instead, the court must decide whether the defendants were born of slaves (in which case they are guilty of murder) or were illegally brought from Africa (and therefore had a right to defend themselves against kidnapping). This legal distinction is not made as clear as it could have been; the international slave trade had been outlawed by treaties by 1839, the year of the landmark Amistad incident, but those who were already slaves remained the property of their masters as did their children. The moral hair splitting underlying that distinction is truly depraved, but on it depends the defense of Cinque, the leader of the Africans, and his fellow mutineers. The film opens on the ship Amistad, where Cinque is able to free himself from shackles and release his fellow prisoners. They rise up against the Spanish crew of the ship, which is taking them from a Havana slave market to another destination in Cuba. The former is about youth and experiencing life and the latter is about old age, or more probably, an old spirit wearied by life. Although beta decay had been observed as early as 1896 and was known to contain electrons, it wasn t until 1914 that they would break the law of energy conservation if just composed of electrons. The founder s name is still unknown. Carbon s name comes from its Latin name carbo which means burnt wood. Although, the use of carbon was from a very early time, people never see it as an element until Robert Boyle s discovery in seventeenth century. Carbonoccurs naturally as many forms included anthracite, graphite, and diamond. Charcoal and soot were more prevalent in history and diamond was much more difficult to identify. Giuseppe Averani and Cipriano Targioni were the first people who discovered that diamond could be destroyed by heating. In 1694, they made the diamond disappeared just by using a gem and a large magnifying glass to focus the sunlight to the diamond. In 1772, Antoine Lavoisier showed that diamonds are a form of carbon because when he burned the samples of charcoal and diamond, they didn t produce any water and they both released the same amount of carbon dioxide per gram. In 1779, Carl Wilhelm Scheele showed another allotrope of carbon graphite, which were known as a form of lead in early times. He found out that graphite was almost identical to charcoal except a small admixture of iron, and when it oxidized with nitric acid, it gave out aerial acid (carbon dioxide). The main characters are Romeo and Juliet, two young lovers whose families have been feuding. The story is about the two lovers trying to be together, but their families constantly get in the way. For the most part, the actors did fairly well. I especially enjoyed the performance of Romeo, played by Leonard Whiting. He brought Romeo to life but not in an overly exaggerated way. Juliet, played by Olivia Hussey, also did a decent job. However, when it came to trying scenes, she did that same crying voice and pose. One, there s that mild nudity scene that we skipped over, the multiple deaths, and lastly two people commit suicide over each other! That is not a great message to send to kids! • 39. Private Property In John Locke s Second Treatise Of Society Society can be structured in many ways. A good society requires mutual consent amongst its members, and private property is at the root of earning this consent. In John Locke s Second Treatise of Government, private property defines man as an individual, forces him into a society, and is his instrument in achieving justice. It explains how man goes from existing in a state of nature to participation in a social contract. Aristotle s Politics is concerned with how private propertyis closely connected to the virtue of a city and the pursuit of a good life. Thomas More s Utopiasatirizes the ideal city because it completely abolishes private property. The author argues that this is possible in a far fetched city, but it cannot bring order to a city that is already established. From these three works, it is evident that private property is essential to the proper organization of a city because it allows for individuality and development of the virtues. It is important that labor be involved in the claiming of private property. Locke believes the earth is common property until a person exerts his or her activity on it (18 20). It eliminates any doubt or quarreling over who has a right to what property (Locke 27). Since it is labor indeed that puts the difference of value on everything, people are set apart by the amount of unique effort they exert to obtain their property. This proves man is perfectly his own and does not belong in common to others (Locke 29). Rather than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She constantly accuses and ridicules the girl about being a slut and singing calypso songs in church. She tells the girl how she must plant foods, how she must take care of herself and her house so as not to reveal herself as a slut . The mother is seemingly unreasonable and cruel towards the girl who seems honest and innocent as she listens to her mother s instructions on how to complete the tasks in her life. The seven characteristics of a leader that Jack Welch looks for in a leader emphasizes more on one area than the others. There is more emphasis on the heart than the other areas. From the ideology of the analogy, I discovered that Jack Welch`s characteristics have about 71 % of it concentrated on the heart. McIntosh (2009) offers an intriguing case study, where the concepts of personhood, hegemony, and fractal recursivity are intertwined and played through the dynamics of Swahili Giriama bordered ethnoreligious interactions. The Giriama geographical, social, religious, and linguistic subordination to the Swahili Muslims is the framework to negotiate, resist or submit to the hegemonic Swahili Islam. First, through personhood, the Giriama frame their religious actions and relations with the Swahilis. Their actions are collective and caused by external powers, rather than individualistically bounded and rational actors as the Swahilis. How Arabic in this case is perceived amplify this notion, as Swahilis take it to be accessible via learning and memorizing, and Giriama take it to be accessible through spirit possession by Muslim spirits. This reinforces their submission and lose of identity by adopting Arabic (p. 255). Second, hegemony plays a significant role in shaping how power is lived and replicated in daily life, to be accepted or rejected by the society. Therefore, Giriama attitude towards Swahili Muslims is exhibited in their refusal to submit to Islam and instead cherish their traditionalism, yet they oftentimes acknowledge Islam s power and the potency of Arabic through divination and spirit possession.
