Essay On Military Censorship
Censorship during times of war has been explained countless times both in favor and in opposition
to the idea. A government s job is to protect individuals and military when countries are fighting
amongst one another, but the reality of what is happening is not always broadcasted to the general
public. Justification for censorship during times of war cannot be found with the fact of publictrust,
privacy, and emotional distress being neglected with lack of information and withholding personal
dedications to loved ones at home. Shielding a community from the harsh matter of death and grief
happening on the battlefield should be chosen personally, not by an outside source. The suppression
of information during a war affects a country on an emotional... Show more content on

While the claim does have valuable insight, the type of arguments being made are flawed and have

Nursing Case Study Meningitis
1.After analyzing the symptoms of this patient, they all seem to lead in the direction of meningitis.
Meningitis, however, needs a puncture in the lumbar region to completely be diagnosed (spinal
tap). This puncture will take cerebrospinal fluid and test to reveal the white blood cell count which
the majority will be neutrophils and also show low glucose levels, increased protein levels, high
CSF opening pressure, a culture and a gram stain to show the cause of the infection. Meningitisis
most commonly shown as a bacteriainfection, but there are chances it could be fungal or viral as
well. I believe this patient has bacterial meningitis because, as a fungal infection, it is usually

Common complications of meningitis include hearing loss, seizures, pneumonia, and more serious
complications involve the cranial nerves, which would include facial weakness and blindness. It is
recommended that patients with meningitis have a 30 degree head elevation of their beds. CT scan
is a good way to assess the patient s symptoms to rule out skull fractures or congenital abnormalities.
Most of the complications contribute to parenchymal damage and increased intracranial pressure.
As these patient s bodies try to fight the infection, seizures can be a result. Fluid cannot be drained
properly which increase sodium levels in the brain. Seizures can be managed with anticonvulsant
and benzodiazepine medications as well as proper fluid management through intravenous
management. Hearing loss results in the damage of some of the nerve endings in the cochlea of the
ear. The first 48 hours are critical in detecting and reversing hearing loss in patients. Another
complication is facial weakness and blindness, which is the outcome of inflammation of the
meninges, which can affect the cranial nerves. These nerves supply the head and neck with their
blood supply so when that is affected, the resulting nerve is

Old Shoe Comparison
Art is used as a way to express oneself and share stories or emotions with others. Every person
goes through a swing of emotions and events throughout their life. Everyone chooses a different
way to deal with these event and emotions. Some may not feel comfortable expressing
themselves and keep to themselves, while others may be very outspoken. For artist they portray
this emotion in their works. Among artists they also each have their own way of expressing
themselves. Each artist has their own preference and paint in different styles. Every piece of art is
different in its own way. No two artists will create the exact same piece of art. Even if they create
similar paintings, there are difference in the styles and meaning behind it. For... Show more content

The bright colors could represent the great outcome if the republicans were to win. The wine in
the back also looks to me like a symbol of victory. Its hidden in the back because no one is sure
how the war will turn out. The darker colors could be the outcome if Franco and the nationalist
were to win. The bread make me think of all the poor people effected by the war and thats most
likely all they were able to afford to eat. The fruit with the fork in it is a more complex. Spain has
some regions that are completely dependent on agriculture. With a war taking place, farms and
lively hoods would be destroyed. I believe the fruit symbolizes all the agriculture that was lost
during the war. The shoe was the most symbolic to me because I believe it can represent various
things. It can represent the soldiers who fought for what they believed in. It could also be all the
families and civilians that were forced to move out of Spain because of the war. Lastly the Spanish
civil war was known as a battleground for ideologies of people from all over the world. The shoe
can also represent all the people from all around the world who traveled to Spain to

War Poems
War is a time of violence, protest, death and pain for many people around the world. With this
conflict, a lot of poetry is written because poetry is one of the most common ways for people to
put across their feelings about situations. War is one of these situations for which many people have
very strong feelings.
A common theme in war poetry is the transformation that war brings about in a person. Many
poems reveal boys going into war and becoming young men after the experience. Another dominant
theme in war poems is about the forgotten soldiers who lost their lives and weren t remembered.
Many poems have been written about war and the feelings evoked by war. Even though a lot of
war poetry was written before World War 1, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However Gibson uses his words well and there are some smart lines throughout the poem. The
rhyming is very simple and the final word in each line rhymes with the other final word in each
two lined stanza. The simple nature of the rhythm in the poem gives it a gentle flow which is very
appropriate for the subject matter.
The poet s ability to use basic words, structure and rhythm appropriately enables him to create a
smart and crisp poem. The simplicity of the poem allows the readers to recognize the serious
subject matter of the poem, which is war.
This next poem was written by me. I got the inspiration for this poem after reading a number of
other war poems and remembering all the people who lost their lives at war. It is called Young lives
lost
The eerie night was torn
By the blistering light of dawn
Many soldiers, many very young,
Their first time holding a gun.
Some no more than 16 years
Bravely holding back the burning tears
Youth s ignorance had been lost
The line of no return was crossed
War had turned these boys to men
Many would never see home again
And unless the senseless killing is ceased
The departed souls will never rest in peace.
My poem is written in a similar style to Gibsons poem. I followed the same rhyming patterns, and
used a simple structure, however my poem uses some slightly more complicated words. The general
theme is the same, but

Persian Gulf War Analysis
The Persian Gulf War is also known as Americans Operation Desert storm. It was one of the most
major events in American history from 1990 to 1991. The Americans fought in this war and had a
great excuse for conquering Kuwait. The Gulf War was upraised by Saddam s violent tendencies
in ordering an invasion of Kuwait. The nation large oil reserves had canceled a large debt that Iraq
owed to Kuwait. Iraq also had an expansion of power in the region. On August 3 the United
Nations Security Council called for Iraq to withdraw from Kuwait, and on August 6 the council
imposed a worldwide ban on trade with Iraq. The Iraqi government responded by formally annexing
Kuwait on August 8. (Britannica, 2015) The environment always seems to be the victim of... Show

Saddam Hussein felt smothered, and unable to find money to repay the other Arab states for
Iraq s previous war with Iran. The only way for Iraq to obtain revenue was through oil exports.
Kuwait, who didn t need the extra revenue, was overproducing which drove prices down, and
drove Saddam s frustration up (Wilson, 1995). Enough time has elapsed to study the economic
impact of the Gulf War on the region. Most of the economic costs were incurred by Iraq. Losses
in military equipment alone totaled over $50 billion (Wilson, 1995). The time and effort needed
to repair the damage and build replacement facilities will take years to accomplish. This will also
be difficult for Iraq because of the pending arms embargo on the state. The economic position
may be easier for Kuwait, although the impact is still hard felt. The most expansive damage was
that inflicted upon the oil installations. Overall, the costliest damage was the environmental
disaster caused by the oil slicks, which cost more the $700 million to clean up (Wilson, 1995).
From 1991 1992, Kuwait s oil industry severely deteriorated and suffered a massive drop in
production due the destruction of their oil wells. Kuwait s Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
increased as a result of its growing oil industry. Namely, oil exports were on the rise once again.
Still, the economic costs incurred by Kuwait will have to be managed for a long time. Moreover,
there remains

In the same way we see another corrupt pope having the same problem when pope John XXIII

was. Woman weren t his only downfall being pope, but other corrupted sins such as: Simony. It
started when Pope John wanted a third occupation after advancing in his military position and

There were many practices that went on within the church such as: Simony, Selling of
Indulgences, relics, pilgrimages, and the sexual immorality of popes, as well as priests and
nuns. The practices were not of God and more so God wrote against these in his word and thus
making them very sinful and wrong actions. Simony: the act of buying and selling spiritual
privileges, was done by many popes including: Clement XIII, Clement VII, Stephen VII, John X,
John XI, John XII etc. The name simony originated from the man simon Magus, who once
sought to buy the power of the holy spirit from the apostles. He had hoped for that power to be
able to lay hands on others to then receive the holy spirit. In the end he is told to repent from
what he persuade and ask for forgiveness from God. In addition to Simony, Peter told the church
that if anyone tryed the act of Simony they were to be told to repent at once. In contradiction, the
church ignored this and the act of Simony grew. Then in the middle of the eleventh century the act
of Simony turned from spiritual things to more material things. When being involved in this act it
is not required for money to be exchanged from one person to the other for the act of Simony to be
considered done. As well as if the action is for personal benefit, involuntarily Simony has been

Amt Case Analysis Essay
1. What has created the need for additional finance by AMT since 1983? The need for additional
financing is a result of multiple factors that placed intense pressure on available cash. The first
factor is the extraordinary growth AMT has experienced the last few years with an annual sales
growth rate of 52.88%. The extreme growth rate in sales was accompanied with heavy spending on
research and development along with rapid expansion in the company s sales force and other
marketing expenditures. What made matters worse is the company has incurred operating losses,
which meant that generating cash from operations was at best limited or insufficient. The second
major factor is the inefficient use or mismanagement of some of the... Show more content on

Accounts Payable Days and Accrued Expenses also play a critical role. Days Payable is set at 50
while Accrued Expenses is assumed to be 5% of Sales. Cash as a percent of sales is set at 7.5%.
Going forward, and assuming 7.5% ratio, which is very similar to the industry upper quartile in
1985, cash balances at AMT will remains solid going forward. Note that the industry s cash to
sales ratio is not given directly but can be deducted by taking the Cash to Assets ratio of 16.3%
(1985) and Assets to Sales ratio of 45.3% (Upper Quartile in 1985). Reshuffling these figures
yields the industry s Cash to Sales of 7.4%. All these assumptions about net working capital result
in tremendous need for external financing over the next several years as mentioned earlier. Annual
Sales growth is expected to be at high rate 30% over the next 5 years, which puts tremendous
pressure on cash. Poor management of working capital will unnecessarily tie up cash, thus
requiring external financing from banks such as Western National Bank. Looking at cash to sales
ratio, the historical trend for AMT is very much disturbing with the last two years having negative
cash balances. With the 7.5% ratio of cash to net sales, cash balances, when managed efficiently,
will remain at healthy levels over the next 5 years. The above discussion shows that high growth in
sales, which is typically accompanied with high growth in working capital exerts tremendous

Womanhood In Toni Morrison s Sula
Sula is such a complicated character that it is difficult to define her. She is an unusual child that
matures into a determined woman, resisting suppression and hatred from the community in which
she lives. She is neither positive nor idealistic, and refuses to place herself in a space where she
will be relegated as the other of the other . Her complex characteristics and unusual behavior
consistently deconstructs and questions stereotypical images of black womanhood and
womanhood in general. Her description of black women is realistic and varied. Embodying
autonomy, curiosity, irregularity, passion and danger, she represents the new black woman who

resentment of the burdens of old people. Wives uncoddled their husbands; there seemed no further
need to reinforce vanity. (Sula 153 54) The community s moral resolve and harmony dissolve in the
absence of Sula, the woman who by defying social conventions motivated others to uphold them.
No longer is the witch the focus of their collective energies. The disintegration of the collective
identity of the community, which was defined by Sula s presence, is replaced with isolation
between residents. This unfocused energy is perhaps a reason to the residents attack on the tunnel

Separation From Britain By Thomas Paine
Separation from Britain was a brilliant alternative route by the Second Continental Congress, and
their supporters, the patriots, they were not submissive to the Britain tyrannical reigning. However,
there are many online article, books, and credible websites that support the idea of America
remaining with the British for commercial and military purposes. But the delegates in the Second
Continental Congress, for example, John Dickson, George read, and many other colony
representatives, gained an opening in seceding from the British Crown. Since the American

of the many political activist groups who refuse to abide into paying direct taxes for British tea,

Abandoned Husband Spouse Analysis
Meaning of Absent Spouse The provisions of this article are of American origin, and must be
construed in the light of American Jurisprudence. An identical provision (except for the period)
exists in the California civil code (section 61); California jurisprudence should, therefore, prove
enlightening. It has been held in that jurisdiction that, as respects the validity of a husbands
subsequent marriage, a presumption as to the death of his first wifecannot be predicated upon an
absence resulting from his leaving or deserting her, as it is his duty to keep her advised as to his
whereabouts. The spouse who has been left or deserted is the one who is considered as the
spouse present ; such spouse is not required to ascertain the whereabouts of the deserting spouse,
and after the required number of years of absence of the latter, the former may validly remarry.
It is the duty of the spouse who has deserted to keep the abandoned spouse posted as to his
whereabouts. It is therefore the subsequent marriage of the abandoned spouse that falls under the
class of voidable marriages, and not the re marriage of the deserting spouse, after the period of
seven years has lapsed. A wife who was residing with her husband in a foreign country and there

Attachment Theory And Its Impact On Our Lives
New born babies are the future of mankind and how we treat them has a great impact on our
lives. Each new born baby is shaped by the culture they are around and no one baby is raised the

Summary Of The Rooftop Of The Creek
Mary split with Lovienthal and Steaks as they left the rooftop in search of Laura and Pamela.
She wanted to inform them of the zombies breaching the creek, and to help gather the children
because it looked imperative that they would be leaving the school immediately. Steaks and
Lovienthal set off for the bus garage to get Albert. They both hoped that he, Johnny, and the
McAllisters had made it farther along in their fortification of a couple of buses than what the
time had allotted them to work. When Mary found Laura she was in the teachers lounge with
Sarah and Pamela playing a board game. Mary quickly and frantically told them what had
happened. A wave of panic than set over Laura leaving her speechless and visibly shaking.
Pamela stepped up and told her to take Sarah and go with Mary to the gymnasium to retrieve her
sons and the other children. After that they should meet back at the cafeteria where she would
be with James packing up supplies. Laura still stood frozen and Pamela had to snap at her
yelling, Go now! in order to get her to break out of her coma like state. Laura then grabbed her
daughter by her arm, and together with Mary they ran for the gym. As soon as Pamela left the

The life that makes each of us believe that we have a purpose other than slaving over our careers.
We want the type of life that does not involve numbers, and clients. We want to replace those
with birthday parties and time with loved ones. Every hard working employed person looks
forward to their vacation, a time to relax and step away from the office. It does not mean that we
are not dedicated to our jobs, just that we merely need that down time to be human beings.
However, we continue to give our all to our employers, even at the expense of our family.
It is not necessary for Americans to work over a 40 hour workweek because if we were able to

Yes and no because there has been and bad things on the internet. Why I said yes because a lot of
schools and and officers use the internet for learning and finding out nice and interesting things
with it. I also said no because there is a lot of new bad things that people put on the internet.
Most people that have gotten hurt by people on the internet have said things that aren t nice and
hurtful to them. It can cause those people that got hurt on the internet to make them lose their
life because they can t deal with the pain that they did to them. When you put something on the

Frankenstein Critique
As Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein, she poured much time into portraying her characters and
making them believable and life like. Her scenes are painted with beautiful, descriptive words
that are colored with vivid emotions and applicable morals. Her life experiences were strategically
placed in her writing to convey a sense of reality and completion of plots and subplots. Her
experience with failed love ties in with the emotion that she expresses the loneliness of Frankenstein
s creation. She develops her characters with passion and enhanced style.
Shelley does a very interesting job of developing her characters throughout Frankenstein. The way
that she uncovers and develops the monster is done very well. It s very fascinating how she ... Show

Chapters four through eight is an example of this. It s very lengthy and a long read.
Shelley has a lovely style of writing throughout the novel. It is very smooth and poetic. She uses
similes to describe thing like the weather or how someone feels. Sentences like, This noble war in
the sky elevated my spirits. and,
Did I request thee, Maker, from my clay
To mould me Man, did I solicit thee
From darkness to promote me? show off this poetic style she shows throughout.
Shelley uses passages like this throughout the novel. It is in a poetic style that really adds to the
mood of the book.
The idea of different narrators for different views on scenes displays a variety of style which are
associated with the main narrators: highly descriptive and rational told by Victor, and tragic and
moving by the monster. The style is rich in vocabulary and is very highly descriptive, especially
with the landscape, which also sometimes mirrors the character s feelings. I discovered more
distinctly the black sides of Jura, and the bright summit of Mount Blanc; I wept like a child: Dear
mountains! my own beautiful ale! how do you welcome your wanderer? Your summits are clear;
the sky and lake are blue and placid. Is this to prognosticate peace, or to mock at my unhappiness?
Mary Shelley relates Frankenstein to her personal life. Throughout her life, she experienced many
hardships including the loss of many children due to sickness and

The Urinary Tract Infection ( Uti )
A Urinary tract infection (UTI) including the bladder and kidneys, is an infection that encompasses
the entire urinary system. The kidneys and bladder filter the blood to make Urine. A urinary
catheter is a thin tube placed in the bladder to drain urine. Urine drains through the tube into a bag
where the urinecollects. When the whole system is compromised, a patient can become very ill. A
catheterprovides a link between the outside environment and a usually sterile system. Now that the
catheter is in place, microorganisms are no longer removed by normal voiding. Germs do not
usually live in the region of the urinary system, but when they are re introduced through the absence
of voiding, infection becomes a problem. A urinary catheter may be used when you cannot urinate
on your own, to measure the amount of urine you produce, during and after certain types of surgery
and during testing of the urinary system. Health care associated infections(HAIs) are an on going
issue, specifically the prevention of catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs). Simply
put, those with catheters have a higher chance of obtaining a CAUTI than patients who do not.
CAUTI is the most frequent type of HAI, and represents as much as 80% of HAIs in hospitals.(The
Joint Commission, 2011) This high occurrence of infection in hospitals creates a high concern in
patient centered care. The hospital can only do so much, what s important is exactly how the nurse
conducts herself. Starting

DC Circuits Analysis and Design
Alexander Glover, z3422512
Abstract
DC circuit analysis and design, play a massive role in electrical engineering and without the
correct application of theory and practise in unison, nothing can be achieved in a true
engineering sense. Engineering requires theory to develop and test constraints while also
requiring practical application of theory in order to determine tolerance and practical results for
industry purposes. The ability to analysis a circuit gives a potential electrical engineer the ability
to learn how to problem solve in a theoretical and practical sense which in turn develops industry
skills in which will follow them for life, and allow a solid knowledge base ... Show more content on

KCL is defined as: The algebraic sum of the currents into any point of the circuit must equal the
algebraic sum of all the currents out of that point. Otherwise, charge would accumulate at the point,
instead of having a conducting path [ (Grob, 1977) ].
KVL is similarly defined as: For each mesh followed continuously in its tracing direction the
algebraic summation of all the instantaneous voltage drops is zero (Pike, 1971).
Where a mesh is defined as a loop that does not contain any other loops [ (Nilsson, 2011) ] and a
loop is defined as a path whose last node is in the same as the starting node [ (Nilsson, 2011) ] and
a node is defined as a point where two or more circuit elements join [ (Nilsson, 2011) ].
KVL, KCL and Ohm s Law are all important tools for circuit analysis, especially using the node
voltage method. A worked example for KCL and Ohm s law is included for Figure 1 next; which
can also be directly applied to that of KVL in the same manner in place of KCL.
Figure 1: Simple dual voltage source (V1 and V2) circuit, with three resistors (R1, R2 and R3) and
four nodes (N1, N2, N3, N4).
From Figure 1, using KCL it can be said that at node two:
i1+ i2= i3(A)(2)
Which can then be substituted for Ohm s law to give:
Va VbR1+Vc VbR2= VbR3 (V)(3)
When values are then substituted into equation three,

Alfred P Murrah Building Bombing
Alfred P Murrah Building Bombing
By: Ryan Agnos
In Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995, at 8:50 AM Timothy McVeigh parked a Ryder truck on the
street in front of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. The truck had a very powerful bomb
made out of ammonium nitrate and fuel. McVeigh set a timed fuse and in turn of events it was
bombs away while he fled the scene in a getaway car.
At precisely 9:02 AM the bomb detonated ripping through the building s north wall. Killing 168
people and wounding more than 680 others, it also destroyed nearly 324 nearby buildings. 19
victims were young children that attended the day care on the second story of the building, some
of them as young as 6 months old. But incensed McVeigh was already 90 miles north.
When police interrogated McVeigh, they found out his motive for bombarding the building.
McVeigh felt upset because poor actions of the ATF during the siege didn t go as planned. McVeigh
stated in response ATF, all you tyrannical people will swing in the wind one day for your treasonous
actions against the Constitution of the United States. Remember the Nuremberg War Trials.
The reason McVeigh bombed the building was because he recognized that there was an ATF office
inside of the building and that would be his initial target. McVeigh was unaware that there was a
daycare program inside the building.
The Waco Siegewas the attack of the Branch Davidians compound that belonged to the religious
group the Branch Davidians who followed David

Source of Value Creation
While in table 2 is illustrated, where the additional value from an increased leverage is going, we
now have a closer look at where the change in value is coming from. For this purpose, we divide
the free cash flow of the firm into pure business flows and cash flows resulting from financing
effects and discount them at a consistent rate reflecting the cash flows risk.
As shown in table 3, the total value of cash flow is increasing if debt is augmented. It is also
obvious that this increase in value is generated by the cash flows resulting from financing effects.
But how does this gain come about? In fact, table 3 illustrates one of the most important theories in
corporate finance, which says that the value of a levered firm is equal to the value of an unlevered
firm plus the present value of the tax shield provided by debt (Copeland, Weston and Shastri, 2005,
p. 562).
Since the tax authority treats interest going to the bondholders differently from the way it treats
earnings going to stockholders, there emerges a difference in the tax payment the firm has to
fulfil. Actually, the firm s tax payment is positively related to its debt, as the interest is not taken
into account by corporate taxation while earnings after interest but before taxes are taxed at the
existing tax rate (which in this case is 35%). The increased value of the total cash flow in table 3
arises therefore from the so called tax shield associated

Cheap Labor Essay
In the twenty first century, it is not a secret that many American companies are actually setting up
factories in foreign countries, with the majority located in Asia. Notable examples of this include
athletic shoe companies such as Nike, Adidas, and Reebok Additionally, most people know the
reason these companies make their products overseas: cheap labor. However, what exactly does the
term cheap labor entail? Moreover, how are international politics and the global economy affected
by this outsourcing? While it may seem like a simple question with a simple answer, the cause of
such a relationship and its effects on international commerce are deeply complex and morally
questionable. The relationship between international politics and offshore athletic shoeproduction is
a surprisingly complex one. Its origins are in the era of the Cold War, when American shoe
companies began moving their production offshore. Nike closed the last of their factories based in
the United States in 1975, choosing instead to put their factories in the countries that were close
allies. While China now produces one third of all athletic shoes, most athletic shoe factories were
located in South Koreafrom the seventies through the nineties (Enloe, 272).
Because South Korea and the United States were strong allies during the Cold War, the American
shoes being produced were, in a sense, militarized. The militarization of athletic shoes occured due
to the agreements between the major American shoe

One, to strengthen the internal strength of Taraki s party, and Afghanistan s international security

Relationship Between Elia Kazan And Arthur Miller
The claim of this essay is about the complicated relationship between Elia Kazan and Arthur
Miller If someone was asked to give information about the Red Scare they had to be truthful in
the court. Arthur Miller wrote The Crucible, and Elia Kazan was a film director. Kazan made a
film On the Waterfront he wanted to combine the two recent films together. It was a story about
a man and his friend, Kazan wanted to take part in his own play as the leading role. It was one of
the top rated film of its time after watching it people could have changed their whole aspect of
how they looked at the film. Arthur Miller was born on October 17, 1915 in New York City.
Arthur wrote several screenplays and was noted for his work on The Misfits. Elia Kazanwas born in
Turkey on September 7, 1909 him and his parents later moved to the United States.
In this moment no one was close to film director Kazan, he has filmed/produced 2 of Arthur s
plays. Miller came with the idea to write the play about The Crucible and he wanted Elia to help
him on it. (columbia.edu)
When Miller and Kazan started working on the film, they got really close. They even shared
Marilyn Monroe. They worked together on other plays as in The Hook and After the Fall. The
Red Scars started to repeat history again. Later on, Miller, the author of the Crucible, decided to
write the play after he heard what Kazan had to say. The relationship between Kazan and Miller
was good at first. (telegraph.co.uk)
Miller had a better connection with Marilyn then Kazan and all he thought was that Marilyn
would never be successful in her career in wanting to be an actress. Arthur Miller fell in love
with Marilyn. Monroe was actually the one to thank for the two s infamous decisions . All three
of them were at a party when Marilyn forced the two men to shake hands. After they got over their
differences they were once again inseparable. They could have continued working together in the
future, but it would have been hard for them to do so because they kept getting bashed for
everything they did. Marilyn and Arthur did everything together and they soon got married on July
29, 1956. Their relationship lasted about five years, it says they got a divorce bc their

Introduction Over six million American s have a diagnosis of heart failure with a projected
670,000 new cases per year (Braunwald, 2012). People over the age of 70 carry the greatest
burden of chronic disease, disability, and health care use (Guralnik, Leveielle, Hirsch, Ferrucci,
Fried, 1997). Participation in physical activity is crucial for health, and walking accounts for much
of the physical activity undertaken by sedentary individuals and those with chronic diseases
(Buchner Wagner, 1992). Pedometers can be a useful motivational tool to encourage increased
walking as they are cheap and easy to use. Pedometers are simple and inexpensive body worn
motion sensors that are readily being used by researchers and practitioners to assess and motivate
physical activity behaviors (Bravata et al, 2007). Valid assessment of physical activity is important
to researcher and clinicians interested in surveillance, screening, evaluation, and intervention.
Statement of the Research Problem/Purpose/Hypothesis/Questions The prevalence of heart failure
continues to rise and can be classified as a clinical syndrome defined by characteristic symptoms
and physical findings (Redfield et al, 2003). The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of
the use of pedometers plus a theory based step goal intervention to assist patients with congestive
heart failure to recognize activity ability and to accumulate increasing amounts of physical activity,

Theme Of Autonomy In The Decameron
Autonomy
Boccaccio s Decameron is a revolutionary text not only because of its irreverent attitude toward
courtly love, but also due to its portrayal of female autonomy, not something that was necessarily
common in the fourteenth century. Not only did women in The Decameron initiate their own
relationships and seek out sexual pleasure, many of them also refused to submit to men, and some
even went as far as to commit suicide rather than lose control of their own bodies.
The female characters in the stories of The Decameron were not content to wait around until their
fathers or brothers decided on a sufficiently rich and noble husband for them to marry: they
shouldered this burden themselves. Ghismonda and Caterina both went behind their fathers
backs to find lovers: Ghismonda sent Guiscardo a letter indicating her interest and informing
him how they could meet, and Caterina promised Ricciardo, If you are daring enough to climb
the balcony, I am quite sure that I can arrange to sleep there (Boccaccio 292, 394). Andreuola
canceled her date with Gabriotto after her bad dream, while Simona told her father she was going
to the pardoning at San Gallo when in reality she had planned a rendezvous with Pasquino (IV.6,
IV.7). Even the married women in these stories took it on themselves to seek out sexual pleasure:
Mrs. Roussillon initiated her affair with Guillaume de Cabestanh, and Pietro s wife Mrs. di
Vinciolo recruited her friend to send young men her way (V.10). This

selfishness? Economic activity in the united states declined from the middle of 1929 through the
first few months of 1933. This 4year declined was not smooth, but it was nevertheless an
unprecedented and bewildering fall in production. Industrial production declined by 37%, prices by
33% therefore over half. (The Cambridge economic history of the united states) At 75 million

Determinism And Neoplatonism
In a remote medieval village, a child is born. Unfortunately, the local priest soon claims him to be
destined to an afterlife in Purgatory; no amount of virtuous action, charity, or veneration can save
the child from his fate. While certainly a hyperbole, such an event is not a far cry from the
religious beliefs of medieval Europe. During this period, the prevailing belief of the time was a
deterministic and cynical view of human nature. Pope Innocent III describes how ...man was
formed out of earth, conceived in guilt, born to punishment... he will become fuel for eternal fires
food for worms, a mass of rottenness (De Segni 1). Under the belief of the time, humans were
thought to be predestined to their fate; this deterministic view of human potential or lack thereof
was characteristic of the medieval era. The turning point in this belief was the emergence of
humanism in the 14th and 15th centuries. As the name suggests, humanism emphasized the
malleability and perfectibility of man, as well as a rediscovery of antiquity. Determinism became...

Neoplatonism represented a turn away from the practical concerns of civic humanists to an
exploration of the grand ideals of truth and perfection (Chambers 397). Pico della Mirandola
believed the universe to be ordered in a hierarchy, with every being in the universe holding a
compulsion to seek perfection. These ideals, along with other ideals of Neoplatonism, were
extremely prevalent within Pico della Mirandola s work. One of Pico della Mirandola s most
influential works, Oration on the Dignity of Man, promoted many of his ideas and those of
Neoplatonism; Pico s Oration is commonly referred to as ...the Manifesto of the Renaissance
[and] is widely regarded as a beautiful declaration of the greatness of human freedom and ability
(Truglia 158). Two ideas are central to the Oration: free will and the deification of

Do You Ever Stop And Think About How Much Of Your Life Is...
Do you ever stop and think about how much of your life is actually yours? How many days of your
life do you get to choose what you get to do? Let s look at the average American s working life.
Most people start full time work at 22 years old and retire at 66. They work all day during the week
and usually are too tired after work to do much. So let s focus on the weekends. 2 days of the
weekend x 52 weeks a year, add on 10 days of vacation + 9 official government holidays. This
comes out to 123 days of your own life a year. If we multiply this by 44 years of working, this
equates to 5,412 days where you get to choose what you get to do. 5,412/365 days in a year is
approximately 15 years. 15 out of 44 years are yours. But if you re like most people, you probably
answer work emails on the weekends and are always connected. So that number of 15 years is
even lower. Does this sound good to anyone? (Pepper)
When I first read those numbers, it was a complete eye opener. It is absolutely unbelievable that
so much of our lives are spent away from our families and the things we love doing. What is
even more unbelievable is that spending so much time at work is unnecessary in the 21st century.
200 years ago when one had to farm all day to provide for their family, sure, a 10 hour workday
made sense. But now? We have the technology to do many of the menial tasks that used to burden
us. Not only is the long work week unnecessary, it is damaging to our health and our

Jesus also points out the sin she has committed and instructs her to submit her life and worship
the Father in Spirit and in truth, and then finally introduces Himself to her. Also Jesus by
washing the feet of His disciples shows how He becomes a servant and show the love he has for
them, in the same manner the most effective type of evangelism is love, compassion and serving
like Jesus. At first the failed to approach evangelism the correct way. The disciples fail to
prioritize evangelism and they overlook the woman or see her spiritual needs. They fail to
realize the spiritual harvest ripe before them (John 4:35) they weren t able to see how big the
harvest could be, but instead not knowingly they try to distract Jesus by telling Him to eat.
Evangelism in the early church is different then evangelism in the church today. Today some
churches do not even share the truth but only talk about money and how to make the church
bigger. Some churches do not share the whole true and are not bold like the early church because
they are afraid that they will lose members because of the truth. Also in some churches there is a
lot of division. In the early church like stated earlier, they were unified and helped each other out.
Now there is a lot of gossip and others try to excel above others in the church.
Jesus is our best example and we must love Him above all things and love others as He loves us,

Wireless Network Topology Essay
Design of Wireless Networking Topologies
The WSN infrastructures can be designed in a variety of ways to address different priorities and
make the appropriate technology trade offs based on the requirements of the certain application.
There are number of interrelated design variables associated with wireless sensor networking.
Fig. 7. Wireless Networking Topologies [10]
The three flexible topologies for network construction are star, tree and mesh respectively,
illustrated in Figure 7. All three topologies consist WSN gateways, end nodes and routers. There
are other topologies, such as ring, line, bus, fully connected and star mesh hybrid networks. Thus,
each WSN topology presents its own set of challenges, advantages and ... Show more content on

The nodes of bus topology are replaced with standalone star topology networks. This results in
both disadvantages of bus topology and advantages of star topology as well. For example, if the
connection between two groups of networks is broken down due to cutting of the connection on
the central linear core, then those two groups cannot communicate, much like nodes of a bus
topology. However, the star topology nodes will effectively communicate with each other. This
structure is arranged in a hierarchical form and any intermediate node can have any number of the
child nodes. 2. Mesh Topology This special topology is multi hopping systems in which all WSN
nodes are identical, namely they are all routers and communicate with each other to hop data to and
from the sensor nodes and the gateway.
Figure 8. WSN Communication Infrastructure [1]
Unlike the star architecture where the nodes can only talk to the gateway, the nodes in a mesh
topology can also hop messages among other router nodes. The propagation of sensor data through
the mesh allows a sensor network to be extended, in theory to an unlimited range. Besides, a mesh
network is also highly fault tolerant since each sensor node has multiple paths back to the gateway
and to other nodes. If a node fails, the network will reconfigure itself around the failed node
automatically. Depending on the number of nodes

Comparing Love In Inanna And Symposium
Love s Contribution to Power in Inanna and Symposium The presence of love and power in
intimate relationships is prominent in both the Inanna and the Symposium. Both texts contain
examples of intimate relationships that lead to significant effects on the power of those in the
relationship. The Inanna and the Symposiumboth illustrate that loveis the greatest possible catalyst
for the attainment of power. Love provides individuals with attributes that in turn increase their
power. This is illustrated through the courtship of Dumuzi and Inanna and through the speeches
regarding love and the apprentice relationships that are found in the Symposium. Inanna s rise from
a helpless girl to a powerful goddess is chronicled through the Inanna. She... Show more content on

52). Inanna never thought about traveling to the dangerous gates of the underworld before she
gained her power. Her rise in power and dominance is notable when comparing her bold
decisions as a goddess to her helpless behavior from the beginning of the text. Inanna s drastic
gain in dominance is linked to her love life because it occurs directly after her courtship with
Dumuzi. Before marrying Dumuzi, Inanna is still very needy and asks her brother Utu who will
weave her bridal sheets for her and who will bleach them for her (pg. 31). Although Inanna is at
first hesitant to marrying Dumuzi, once they are together, Inanna s sense of dominance and
power increases. One example of her increased dominance is the instance when Inanna calls
Dumuzi to bed instead of the other way around, saying The bed is ready! ...The bed is waiting!
(pg. 42). This instance of Inanna s dominance is significant in relation to her power because it
occurs in a Sumerian text where a patriarchal society was prevalent and a woman calling a man to
bed would be considered taboo. Inanna s newly found dominance after entering marriage and

Era 4 Western Religions
Era 4 Eastern and Western Religion Comparisons
All Religions are all the branches of the same exact tree. (Albert Einstein) Even arguably the
smartest or one of the smartest people to ever live says that all religions are very similar in many
ways. Era four was the beginning to four of these religions that Einstein was talking about, and they
took part in Eurasia at the time. Two of the religions that were on they west side of Eurasia were
named Christianity and Judaism. The other two religions on the east side of Eurasia were named
Buddhism, and Hinduism. Even though the east and west side religions were far apart, they still

vain; You shall keep the Sabbath day holy; You shall honor your father and mother; You shall not
kill; You shall not commit adultery; You shall not steal; You shall not lie against your neighbor;
You shall not covet anything of your neighbors. In these religions you will be permitted into
heaven if you follow all the rules (Wikipedia). There is a very similar list of moral codes in the
Eastern religions called the eightfold path. The laws of this path involve: You must have the right
view, You must have the right resolve, You must have the right speech, You must have the right
conduct, You must have the right livelihood, You must have the right effort, You must have the
right mindfulness, You must have the right samadhi or you must know how to meditate right. The
religions that follow these morals are Buddhism, and Hinduism (Thrall and Wikipedia). Buddhism
follows these codes in order to achieve a state of enlightenment called Nirvana. Hinduism Follows
these rules to have a better life in the next life because they believe in rebirth. All these religions

Implication of Schizotypy as a Personality Trait Essay
Implication of Schizotypy as a Personality Trait
Gruzelier (1996) suggest that schizotypy consists mainly of impulsive non conformity, social
anxiety, positive features such as unusual perceptions, and negative features such as introversions.
(Cited in Miller P, et al. 2002, p.179).
In this essay one would like to explore the definition given to schizotypy and to give a brief
discussion on this concept and whether schizotypy is a single trait or whether there are more
factors to be considered, for it was conceptualized by Eysenck as a single personality trait named
psychoticism, however it was Claridge s work that suggested that this personality trait was much

146). It was also suggested by Cooper that the concept of schizotypy, therefore, is said to have
much in common with Eysenck s idea of psychoticism. (Psychoticism is one of the three traits used
by the psychologist Hans Eysenck in his P E N model (psychoticism, extraversion and neuroticism)
model of personality. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki
/Category:Mental_illness_diagnosis_by_DSM_and_ISCDRHP 20k ) Both these traits are thought
to predict the risk of developing schizophrenia, but researchers such as Claridge have tried to
predetermine all the main symptoms of schizophrenia from the clinical to the non clinical
population. It was said that Eysenck focused more on impulsive, sensation seeking, cruel and
solitary behaviors, who only mildly referred to the perceptual distortions or cognitive and attention
problems. Therefore he concluded that even if the traits have some similarities, they are unlikely to
be identical. (Cooper, 2002, pp. 146 7).
To determine whether schizotypy is a single trait can be complicated in the fact that if a personality
disorder description should include, at minimum, criteria relevant
To a person s characteristic patterns e.g. 1) thought, 2) affectivity,
3) motivation, and 4) behavior, the question that arisen to Westen, D., and Shedler, J. when

Discuss the view that class is still the most important factor influencing the way people vote
Voting behaviour is the way in which the individuals of the electorate vote. Typically this can be
divided into a sociological approach based on entrenched characteristics such as class, age and
region and rational choice approach based on individual decisions based on political issues,
governance and party leaders or image.
Between the years of 1945 1970 social class dominantly shaped the voting behaviour of
individuals. Whilst there has been a decline in prominence of class voting: Labour remains the
most popular working class party and Conservatives perform best among middle class voters.

Conservatives receive an increasing percentage of votes in correlation with age and Lib Dem
and Labour have high performance among the younger groups. The writer G.B. Shaw once
wrote that, If you are not a socialist by the time you are 25, you have no heart. If you are not a
Conservative by the time you are 35, you have no head . There is the entrenched view that
young people are more liberal whilst as individuals grow older they become more set in their
ways, more wedded to traditional values and attitudes and more likely to believe that
Conservative governments are more likely to safeguard their financial and personal security
which appear increasingly important in later life. Considering this, surprisingly in the 2010
general election, the ages of 18 24 voted fairly equally between the three main parties with the
age bias gap only really becoming apparent from the age 55 onwards. This shows that younger
prejudices and party alignment are not as ingrained as that of the elderly meaning that old people
may be influenced in their voting behaviour by their age but the same is not as apparent for young
people, despite the surface recognition that it is. Yet the implication of young people sharing their
votes between parties could be due to other factors, when

`` Cows, Pigs, Wars, And Witches By Marvin Harris
Cows, Pigs, Wars, and Witches by Marvin Harris divulges into some difference and components
of culture around the world. He answers question as to why individuals perform and act the way
they do in relation to culture. He looks at sexual hierarchies among Yanomamo culture as well as
the Hindu s respect for cows in India.
The Savage male chapter of the book attempts to explain human sexual hierarchies. There are two
are categorical areas that divide the theories; unmodifiable instincts and adaptiveness of lifestyles.
Harris expectation if sexual hierarchies were only decided by anatomy and cultural capacities are
that women would be the dominant gender because women are able to give birth. There is an
expectation they would modified or remove forces that may be harmful to them, and that the
populations of males would be smaller and feel more gratitude to the women. Their communities
would consist of polyandry. The men would desire sexual favor from the women and be inferior of
the women.
Friedrich Engels believes that at one time this type of system did occur but the men decided to band
together and over through the women. Harris doesn t believe this has actually occurred because
there are no examples throughout society. The closest representation of this idea is present through
10 to 15 percent of the societies across the world participating in matrilineality. Although these
societies showcase matrilineality the women are not in control of the family affairs, a male from

Nanotechnology And Its Effects On Our Future
Imagine that, in the near future, you need surgery in your lungs. Currently, it would be very
invasive and very risky to do surgery on your lungs. But, with advances in nanotechnology, the
surgery could be quick and painless. There could be almost no risk attributed to surgeries like
nowadays, and it would not be nearly as invasive either. Nanotechnologyis something that isn t
necessarily new, it has been talked about and worked upon for many years. However, there have
been advances in this field that have led to new and also exciting discoveries. Surgeries, for
example, are one of the things that nanotechnology has seen a promising future for. There is,
however, a dark side of this. While there are many innovations that have launched this technology
to the forefront of many scientists minds, there are also skeptics and nonbelievers that say this
technology could do more harm than it could good. There are many pros, but there are even more
cons to this technology. This reason is why so many people say that we should not be pushing this
technology as far and as hard as we currently are. If there is not a change in the rapid growth of
this technology, there could be some undesirable consequences. There is a nearly universal belief
that canceris horrible. There is also nearly universal belief that the treatments we have today for
cancer are not effective at all, and they are also not safe. Chemotherapyis one of the most
widespread treatment options, and it clearly

  • 2. Essay On Military Censorship Censorship during times of war has been explained countless times both in favor and in opposition to the idea. A government s job is to protect individuals and military when countries are fighting amongst one another, but the reality of what is happening is not always broadcasted to the general public. Justification for censorship during times of war cannot be found with the fact of publictrust, privacy, and emotional distress being neglected with lack of information and withholding personal dedications to loved ones at home. Shielding a community from the harsh matter of death and grief happening on the battlefield should be chosen personally, not by an outside source. The suppression of information during a war affects a country on an emotional... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Meningitis, however, needs a puncture in the lumbar region to completely be diagnosed (spinal tap). This puncture will take cerebrospinal fluid and test to reveal the white blood cell count which the majority will be neutrophils and also show low glucose levels, increased protein levels, high CSF opening pressure, a culture and a gram stain to show the cause of the infection. Common complications of meningitis include hearing loss, seizures, pneumonia, and more serious complications involve the cranial nerves, which would include facial weakness and blindness. It is recommended that patients with meningitis have a 30 degree head elevation of their beds. CT scan is a good way to assess the patient s symptoms to rule out skull fractures or congenital abnormalities. Most of the complications contribute to parenchymal damage and increased intracranial pressure. As these patient s bodies try to fight the infection, seizures can be a result. Fluid cannot be drained properly which increase sodium levels in the brain. Seizures can be managed with anticonvulsant and benzodiazepine medications as well as proper fluid management through intravenous management. Hearing loss results in the damage of some of the nerve endings in the cochlea of the ear. The first 48 hours are critical in detecting and reversing hearing loss in patients. Another complication is facial weakness and blindness, which is the outcome of inflammation of the meninges, which can affect the cranial nerves. With this conflict, a lot of poetry is written because poetry is one of the most common ways for people to put across their feelings about situations. War is one of these situations for which many people have very strong feelings. A common theme in war poetry is the transformation that war brings about in a person. Many poems reveal boys going into war and becoming young men after the experience. Another dominant theme in war poems is about the forgotten soldiers who lost their lives and weren t remembered. The poet s ability to use basic words, structure and rhythm appropriately enables him to create a smart and crisp poem. The simplicity of the poem allows the readers to recognize the serious subject matter of the poem, which is war. This next poem was written by me. The nation large oil reserves had canceled a large debt that Iraq owed to Kuwait. Iraq also had an expansion of power in the region. On August 3 the United Nations Security Council called for Iraq to withdraw from Kuwait, and on August 6 the council imposed a worldwide ban on trade with Iraq. Saddam Hussein felt smothered, and unable to find money to repay the other Arab states for Iraq s previous war with Iran. The only way for Iraq to obtain revenue was through oil exports. Kuwait, who didn t need the extra revenue, was overproducing which drove prices down, and drove Saddam s frustration up (Wilson, 1995). Enough time has elapsed to study the economic impact of the Gulf War on the region. Most of the economic costs were incurred by Iraq. Losses in military equipment alone totaled over $50 billion (Wilson, 1995). The time and effort needed to repair the damage and build replacement facilities will take years to accomplish. This will also be difficult for Iraq because of the pending arms embargo on the state. The economic position may be easier for Kuwait, although the impact is still hard felt. The most expansive damage was that inflicted upon the oil installations. Overall, the costliest damage was the environmental disaster caused by the oil slicks, which cost more the $700 million to clean up (Wilson, 1995). From 1991 1992, Kuwait s oil industry severely deteriorated and suffered a massive drop in production due the destruction of their oil wells. Simony: the act of buying and selling spiritual privileges, was done by many popes including: Clement XIII, Clement VII, Stephen VII, John X, John XI, John XII etc. The name simony originated from the man simon Magus, who once sought to buy the power of the holy spirit from the apostles. He had hoped for that power to be able to lay hands on others to then receive the holy spirit. In the end he is told to repent from what he persuade and ask for forgiveness from God. In addition to Simony, Peter told the church that if anyone tryed the act of Simony they were to be told to repent at once. In contradiction, the church ignored this and the act of Simony grew. • 12. Amt Case Analysis Essay 1. What has created the need for additional finance by AMT since 1983? The need for additional financing is a result of multiple factors that placed intense pressure on available cash. The first factor is the extraordinary growth AMT has experienced the last few years with an annual sales growth rate of 52.88%. The extreme growth rate in sales was accompanied with heavy spending on research and development along with rapid expansion in the company s sales force and other marketing expenditures. What made matters worse is the company has incurred operating losses, which meant that generating cash from operations was at best limited or insufficient. The second major factor is the inefficient use or mismanagement of some of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Accounts Payable Days and Accrued Expenses also play a critical role. Days Payable is set at 50 while Accrued Expenses is assumed to be 5% of Sales. Cash as a percent of sales is set at 7.5%. Going forward, and assuming 7.5% ratio, which is very similar to the industry upper quartile in 1985, cash balances at AMT will remains solid going forward. Note that the industry s cash to sales ratio is not given directly but can be deducted by taking the Cash to Assets ratio of 16.3% (1985) and Assets to Sales ratio of 45.3% (Upper Quartile in 1985). Reshuffling these figures yields the industry s Cash to Sales of 7.4%. All these assumptions about net working capital result in tremendous need for external financing over the next several years as mentioned earlier. Annual Sales growth is expected to be at high rate 30% over the next 5 years, which puts tremendous pressure on cash. Poor management of working capital will unnecessarily tie up cash, thus requiring external financing from banks such as Western National Bank. Looking at cash to sales ratio, the historical trend for AMT is very much disturbing with the last two years having negative cash balances. With the 7.5% ratio of cash to net sales, cash balances, when managed efficiently, will remain at healthy levels over the next 5 years. The above discussion shows that high growth in sales, which is typically accompanied with high growth in working capital exerts tremendous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An identical provision (except for the period) exists in the California civil code (section 61); California jurisprudence should, therefore, prove enlightening. It has been held in that jurisdiction that, as respects the validity of a husbands subsequent marriage, a presumption as to the death of his first wifecannot be predicated upon an absence resulting from his leaving or deserting her, as it is his duty to keep her advised as to his whereabouts. The spouse who has been left or deserted is the one who is considered as the spouse present ; such spouse is not required to ascertain the whereabouts of the deserting spouse, and after the required number of years of absence of the latter, the former may validly remarry. It is the duty of the spouse who has deserted to keep the abandoned spouse posted as to his whereabouts. It is therefore the subsequent marriage of the abandoned spouse that falls under the class of voidable marriages, and not the re marriage of the deserting spouse, after the period of seven years has lapsed. It does not mean that we are not dedicated to our jobs, just that we merely need that down time to be human beings. However, we continue to give our all to our employers, even at the expense of our family. It is not necessary for Americans to work over a 40 hour workweek because if we were able to spend more time with our families and have a better quality of life with a decrease in stress and health problems, society would benefit greatly. There is a good chance that we are all guilty of overworking. We often neglect our families, our diets, our stress level, and most of all, our sanity. We are so tired that we do not have the energy to keep up with our daily duties. Our laundry and dishes pile up, and we can t find that small amount of time to take our kids to the park. • 25. The Urinary Tract Infection ( Uti ) A Urinary tract infection (UTI) including the bladder and kidneys, is an infection that encompasses the entire urinary system. The kidneys and bladder filter the blood to make Urine. A urinary catheter is a thin tube placed in the bladder to drain urine. Urine drains through the tube into a bag where the urinecollects. When the whole system is compromised, a patient can become very ill. A catheterprovides a link between the outside environment and a usually sterile system. Now that the catheter is in place, microorganisms are no longer removed by normal voiding. Germs do not usually live in the region of the urinary system, but when they are re introduced through the absence of voiding, infection becomes a problem. A urinary catheter may be used when you cannot urinate on your own, to measure the amount of urine you produce, during and after certain types of surgery and during testing of the urinary system. Health care associated infections(HAIs) are an on going issue, specifically the prevention of catheter associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs). Simply put, those with catheters have a higher chance of obtaining a CAUTI than patients who do not. CAUTI is the most frequent type of HAI, and represents as much as 80% of HAIs in hospitals.(The Joint Commission, 2011) This high occurrence of infection in hospitals creates a high concern in patient centered care. Engineering requires theory to develop and test constraints while also requiring practical application of theory in order to determine tolerance and practical results for industry purposes. Alfred P Murrah Building Bombing Alfred P Murrah Building Bombing By: Ryan Agnos In Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995, at 8:50 AM Timothy McVeigh parked a Ryder truck on the street in front of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. The truck had a very powerful bomb made out of ammonium nitrate and fuel. McVeigh set a timed fuse and in turn of events it was bombs away while he fled the scene in a getaway car. At precisely 9:02 AM the bomb detonated ripping through the building s north wall. Killing 168 people and wounding more than 680 others, it also destroyed nearly 324 nearby buildings. 19 victims were young children that attended the day care on the second story of the building, some of them as young as 6 months old. But incensed McVeigh was already 90 miles north. When police interrogated McVeigh, they found out his motive for bombarding the building. McVeigh felt upset because poor actions of the ATF during the siege didn t go as planned. McVeigh stated in response ATF, all you tyrannical people will swing in the wind one day for your treasonous actions against the Constitution of the United States. Remember the Nuremberg War Trials. The reason McVeigh bombed the building was because he recognized that there was an ATF office inside of the building and that would be his initial target. Source of Value Creation While in table 2 is illustrated, where the additional value from an increased leverage is going, we now have a closer look at where the change in value is coming from. For this purpose, we divide the free cash flow of the firm into pure business flows and cash flows resulting from financing effects and discount them at a consistent rate reflecting the cash flows risk. As shown in table 3, the total value of cash flow is increasing if debt is augmented. It is also obvious that this increase in value is generated by the cash flows resulting from financing effects. But how does this gain come about? In fact, table 3 illustrates one of the most important theories in corporate finance, which says that the value of a levered firm is equal to the value of an unlevered firm plus the present value of the tax shield provided by debt (Copeland, Weston and Shastri, 2005, p. 562). Since the tax authority treats interest going to the bondholders differently from the way it treats earnings going to stockholders, there emerges a difference in the tax payment the firm has to fulfil. Actually, the firm s tax payment is positively related to its debt, as the interest is not taken into account by corporate taxation while earnings after interest but before taxes are taxed at the existing tax rate (which in this case is 35%). The increased value of the total cash flow in table 3 arises therefore from the so called tax shield associated

Notable examples of this include athletic shoe companies such as Nike, Adidas, and Reebok Additionally, most people know the reason these companies make their products overseas: cheap labor. However, what exactly does the term cheap labor entail? Moreover, how are international politics and the global economy affected by this outsourcing? While it may seem like a simple question with a simple answer, the cause of such a relationship and its effects on international commerce are deeply complex and morally questionable. The relationship between international politics and offshore athletic shoeproduction is a surprisingly complex one. Its origins are in the era of the Cold War, when American shoe companies began moving their production offshore. Nike closed the last of their factories based in the United States in 1975, choosing instead to put their factories in the countries that were close allies. While China now produces one third of all athletic shoes, most athletic shoe factories were located in South Koreafrom the seventies through the nineties (Enloe, 272). Because South Korea and the United States were strong allies during the Cold War, the American shoes being produced were, in a sense, militarized. Relationship Between Elia Kazan And Arthur Miller The claim of this essay is about the complicated relationship between Elia Kazan and Arthur Miller If someone was asked to give information about the Red Scare they had to be truthful in the court. Arthur Miller wrote The Crucible, and Elia Kazan was a film director. Kazan made a film On the Waterfront he wanted to combine the two recent films together. It was a story about a man and his friend, Kazan wanted to take part in his own play as the leading role. It was one of the top rated film of its time after watching it people could have changed their whole aspect of how they looked at the film. Arthur Miller was born on October 17, 1915 in New York City. Arthur wrote several screenplays and was noted for his work on The Misfits. Elia Kazanwas born in Turkey on September 7, 1909 him and his parents later moved to the United States. In this moment no one was close to film director Kazan, he has filmed/produced 2 of Arthur s plays. Miller came with the idea to write the play about The Crucible and he wanted Elia to help him on it. (columbia.edu) When Miller and Kazan started working on the film, they got really close. They even shared Marilyn Monroe. They worked together on other plays as in The Hook and After the Fall. The Red Scars started to repeat history again. Later on, Miller, the author of the Crucible, decided to write the play after he heard what Kazan had to say. The relationship between Kazan and Miller was good at first. After they got over their differences they were once again inseparable. They could have continued working together in the future, but it would have been hard for them to do so because they kept getting bashed for everything they did. Introduction Over six million American s have a diagnosis of heart failure with a projected 670,000 new cases per year (Braunwald, 2012). People over the age of 70 carry the greatest burden of chronic disease, disability, and health care use (Guralnik, Leveielle, Hirsch, Ferrucci, Fried, 1997). Participation in physical activity is crucial for health, and walking accounts for much of the physical activity undertaken by sedentary individuals and those with chronic diseases (Buchner Wagner, 1992). Pedometers can be a useful motivational tool to encourage increased walking as they are cheap and easy to use. Pedometers are simple and inexpensive body worn motion sensors that are readily being used by researchers and practitioners to assess and motivate physical activity behaviors (Bravata et al, 2007). Valid assessment of physical activity is important to researcher and clinicians interested in surveillance, screening, evaluation, and intervention. Statement of the Research Problem/Purpose/Hypothesis/Questions The prevalence of heart failure continues to rise and can be classified as a clinical syndrome defined by characteristic symptoms and physical findings (Redfield et al, 2003). • 40. Theme Of Autonomy In The Decameron Autonomy Boccaccio s Decameron is a revolutionary text not only because of its irreverent attitude toward courtly love, but also due to its portrayal of female autonomy, not something that was necessarily common in the fourteenth century. Not only did women in The Decameron initiate their own relationships and seek out sexual pleasure, many of them also refused to submit to men, and some even went as far as to commit suicide rather than lose control of their own bodies. The female characters in the stories of The Decameron were not content to wait around until their fathers or brothers decided on a sufficiently rich and noble husband for them to marry: they shouldered this burden themselves. Ghismonda and Caterina both went behind their fathers backs to find lovers: Ghismonda sent Guiscardo a letter indicating her interest and informing him how they could meet, and Caterina promised Ricciardo, If you are daring enough to climb the balcony, I am quite sure that I can arrange to sleep there (Boccaccio 292, 394). Andreuola canceled her date with Gabriotto after her bad dream, while Simona told her father she was going to the pardoning at San Gallo when in reality she had planned a rendezvous with Pasquino (IV.6, IV.7). • 42. Determinism And Neoplatonism In a remote medieval village, a child is born. Unfortunately, the local priest soon claims him to be destined to an afterlife in Purgatory; no amount of virtuous action, charity, or veneration can save the child from his fate. While certainly a hyperbole, such an event is not a far cry from the religious beliefs of medieval Europe. During this period, the prevailing belief of the time was a deterministic and cynical view of human nature. Pope Innocent III describes how ...man was formed out of earth, conceived in guilt, born to punishment... he will become fuel for eternal fires food for worms, a mass of rottenness (De Segni 1). Under the belief of the time, humans were thought to be predestined to their fate; this deterministic view of human potential or lack thereof was characteristic of the medieval era. The turning point in this belief was the emergence of humanism in the 14th and 15th centuries. As the name suggests, humanism emphasized the malleability and perfectibility of man, as well as a rediscovery of antiquity. Determinism became... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These ideals, along with other ideals of Neoplatonism, were extremely prevalent within Pico della Mirandola s work. How many days of your life do you get to choose what you get to do? Let s look at the average American s working life. Most people start full time work at 22 years old and retire at 66. They work all day during the week and usually are too tired after work to do much. So let s focus on the weekends. 2 days of the weekend x 52 weeks a year, add on 10 days of vacation + 9 official government holidays. This comes out to 123 days of your own life a year. If we multiply this by 44 years of working, this equates to 5,412 days where you get to choose what you get to do. 5,412/365 days in a year is approximately 15 years. 15 out of 44 years are yours. But if you re like most people, you probably answer work emails on the weekends and are always connected. So that number of 15 years is even lower. Does this sound good to anyone? (Pepper) When I first read those numbers, it was a complete eye opener. It is absolutely unbelievable that so much of our lives are spent away from our families and the things we love doing. What is even more unbelievable is that spending so much time at work is unnecessary in the 21st century. 200 years ago when one had to farm all day to provide for their family, sure, a 10 hour workday made sense. But now? We have the technology to do many of the menial tasks that used to burden us. Not only is the long work week unnecessary, it is damaging to our health and our ... At first the failed to approach evangelism the correct way. The disciples fail to prioritize evangelism and they overlook the woman or see her spiritual needs. They fail to realize the spiritual harvest ripe before them (John 4:35) they weren t able to see how big the harvest could be, but instead not knowingly they try to distract Jesus by telling Him to eat. Evangelism in the early church is different then evangelism in the church today. Today some churches do not even share the truth but only talk about money and how to make the church bigger. Some churches do not share the whole true and are not bold like the early church because they are afraid that they will lose members because of the truth. Also in some churches there is a lot of division. In the early church like stated earlier, they were unified and helped each other out. There are number of interrelated design variables associated with wireless sensor networking. Fig. 7. Wireless Networking Topologies [10] The three flexible topologies for network construction are star, tree and mesh respectively, illustrated in Figure 7. This results in both disadvantages of bus topology and advantages of star topology as well. For example, if the connection between two groups of networks is broken down due to cutting of the connection on the central linear core, then those two groups cannot communicate, much like nodes of a bus topology. However, the star topology nodes will effectively communicate with each other. This structure is arranged in a hierarchical form and any intermediate node can have any number of the child nodes. 2. Mesh Topology This special topology is multi hopping systems in which all WSN nodes are identical, namely they are all routers and communicate with each other to hop data to and from the sensor nodes and the gateway. Figure 8. WSN Communication Infrastructure [1] Unlike the star architecture where the nodes can only talk to the gateway, the nodes in a mesh topology can also hop messages among other router nodes. The propagation of sensor data through the mesh allows a sensor network to be extended, in theory to an unlimited range. Besides, a mesh network is also highly fault tolerant since each sensor node has multiple paths back to the gateway and to other nodes. If a node fails, the network will reconfigure itself around the failed node automatically. Depending on the number of nodes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Both texts contain examples of intimate relationships that lead to significant effects on the power of those in the relationship. The Inanna and the Symposiumboth illustrate that loveis the greatest possible catalyst for the attainment of power. Love provides individuals with attributes that in turn increase their power. Inanna never thought about traveling to the dangerous gates of the underworld before she gained her power. Her rise in power and dominance is notable when comparing her bold decisions as a goddess to her helpless behavior from the beginning of the text. Before marrying Dumuzi, Inanna is still very needy and asks her brother Utu who will weave her bridal sheets for her and who will bleach them for her (pg. 31). Although Inanna is at first hesitant to marrying Dumuzi, once they are together, Inanna s sense of dominance and power increases. One example of her increased dominance is the instance when Inanna calls Dumuzi to bed instead of the other way around, saying The bed is ready! ...The bed is waiting! (pg. 42). Implication of Schizotypy as a Personality Trait Essay Implication of Schizotypy as a Personality Trait Gruzelier (1996) suggest that schizotypy consists mainly of impulsive non conformity, social anxiety, positive features such as unusual perceptions, and negative features such as introversions. (Cited in Miller P, et al. 2002, p.179). In this essay one would like to explore the definition given to schizotypy and to give a brief discussion on this concept and whether schizotypy is a single trait or whether there are more factors to be considered, for it was conceptualized by Eysenck as a single personality trait named psychoticism, however it was Claridge s work that suggested that this personality trait was much more complex, and that such ... (en.wikipedia.org/wiki /Category:Mental_illness_diagnosis_by_DSM_and_ISCDRHP 20k ) Both these traits are thought to predict the risk of developing schizophrenia, but researchers such as Claridge have tried to predetermine all the main symptoms of schizophrenia from the clinical to the non clinical population. It was said that Eysenck focused more on impulsive, sensation seeking, cruel and solitary behaviors, who only mildly referred to the perceptual distortions or cognitive and attention problems. Therefore he concluded that even if the traits have some similarities, they are unlikely to be identical. (Cooper, 2002, pp. 146 7). To determine whether schizotypy is a single trait can be complicated in the fact that if a personality disorder description should include, at minimum, criteria relevant To a person s characteristic patterns e.g. 1) thought, 2) affectivity, 3) motivation, and 4) behavior, the question that arisen to Westen, D., and Shedler, J. when researching the classification of personality disorders, is how to develop a classification system for ... Between the years of 1945 1970 social class dominantly shaped the voting behaviour of individuals. There is the entrenched view that young people are more liberal whilst as individuals grow older they become more set in their ways, more wedded to traditional values and attitudes and more likely to believe that Conservative governments are more likely to safeguard their financial and personal security which appear increasingly important in later life. Considering this, surprisingly in the 2010 general election, the ages of 18 24 voted fairly equally between the three main parties with the age bias gap only really becoming apparent from the age 55 onwards. This shows that younger prejudices and party alignment are not as ingrained as that of the elderly meaning that old people may be influenced in their voting behaviour by their age but the same is not as apparent for young people, despite the surface recognition that it is. He answers question as to why individuals perform and act the way they do in relation to culture. He looks at sexual hierarchies among Yanomamo culture as well as the Hindu s respect for cows in India. The Savage male chapter of the book attempts to explain human sexual hierarchies. There are two are categorical areas that divide the theories; unmodifiable instincts and adaptiveness of lifestyles. Harris expectation if sexual hierarchies were only decided by anatomy and cultural capacities are that women would be the dominant gender because women are able to give birth. There is an expectation they would modified or remove forces that may be harmful to them, and that the populations of males would be smaller and feel more gratitude to the women. Their communities would consist of polyandry. The men would desire sexual favor from the women and be inferior of the women. Friedrich Engels believes that at one time this type of system did occur but the men decided to band together and over through the women. Harris doesn t believe this has actually occurred because there are no examples throughout society.
