Impact of Different Surgical Protocols on Dimensional Changes of Free Soft Ti...Dr. B.V.Parvathy
To determine if there is a difference in the amount of shrinkage during
healing of free soft tissue autografts (FSTA) using different surgical
techniques—suturing the vestibular flap margin apically to the base of
the recipient bed versus leaving the flap margin free and unsutured.
COMPARISON BETWEEN SUTURING AND STAPLE APPROXIMATION OF SKIN IN ABDOMINAL INC...KETAN VAGHOLKAR
Background: Skin approximation is a very important step in a surgical operation. The quality of skin
approximation affects the quality of the scar. Traditional skin suturing is associated with quite a few wound complications.
Staple approximation is an innovative alternative with good results. Aim: The aim of the study is to compare
traditional suturing of skin edges versus staple approximation and to evaluate the impact of these techniques on wound
complications such as pain, surgical site infections, scarring and patient satisfaction. Materials and methods: 150 patients
are included in the study and divided into two groups. Group A (skin suturing) and group B (staple approximation).
The effect of the technique on wound healing is evaluated. Results: Patients belonging to group B (staple approximation)
had less pain, shorter skin closure duration, no wound complications, fine scarring and greater patient satisfaction.
Conclusion: Staple approximation of skin edges during the closure of laparotomy incisions is recommended.
The Efficacy of Pocket Elimination/Reduction Compared to Access Flap Surgery: A SystematicReview and Meta-analysis
To assess the efficacy and adverse effects of resective
surgery compared to access flap in patients with
periodontitis.

Breast Liposuction (Female vs. Male).pptxOsama Moawad
Breast reduction liposuction has gradually evolved into a primary or secondary modality for treating breast hyperplasia. Enlargement of the breast as the result of localized deposits of subcutaneous fat, primarily with normal or slightly increased glandular breast tissue, is known as pseudo-gynecomastia in male patients.

Couples presenting to the infertility clinic- Do they really have infertility...Sujoy Dasgupta
Dr Sujoy Dasgupta presented the study on "Couples presenting to the infertility clinic- Do they really have infertility? – The unexplored stories of non-consummation" in the 13th Congress of the Asia Pacific Initiative on Reproduction (ASPIRE 2024) at Manila on 24 May, 2024.
These lecture slides, by Dr Sidra Arshad, offer a quick overview of physiological basis of a normal electrocardiogram.
Learning objectives:
1. Define an electrocardiogram (ECG) and electrocardiography
2. Describe how dipoles generated by the heart produce the waveforms of the ECG
3. Describe the components of a normal electrocardiogram of a typical bipolar leads (limb II)
4. Differentiate between intervals and segments
5. Enlist some common indications for obtaining an ECG

2. Background
• Complications following aesthetic procedures such as
lower T-junction wound dehiscence following breast
reduction surgery, or flap necrosis following a facelift
procedure are vexing and grievous complications both to
the patient and the surgeon.
• Treatment modalities that can actively expedite wound
healing and re-epithelialization rates are highly craved.
• Objectives - To assess wound healing and re-
epithelialization rates of open wounds due to dehiscence
following breast reduction surgery or flap necrosis
following a facelift procedure.
3. Methods
• Eight patients with wounds of the aforementioned
types (5 breast reduction patients and 3 facelift
patients) were treated with daily dressing with NCM
soaked dressings.
• Wound closure rates were documented daily.
4. Results
• Treatment duration averaged 10 days in the facelift
cases and 33 days for breast cases.
• Wounds showed both accelerated granulation
tissue formation, and re-epithelialization rates.
• Average wound epithelialization rate was 1.9
millimeters per day for breast cases and 1
millimeters per day for the facelift cases.
• In these cases, NCM treatment helped patients
avoid additional surgery such as skin grafting. No
complications or side effects were encountered.
5. Patient’s Results
• Female, 29 year old
• Wound etiology: Post bilateral breast reduction, postoperative wound dehiscence
• Wound duration: 29 days
• Previous treatment: Povidone iodine soaked dressings, AG hydrofiber dressings
Prior to treatment Day 5 of treatment Day 12 of treatment Day 24 of treatment
6. Patient’s Results
• Female, 52 year old
• Wound etiology: Post bilateral breast reduction, postoperative wound dehiscense
• Wound duration: 19 days
• Previous treatment: Silver sulfadiazine, AG hydrofiber dressings
Prior to treatment Day 5 of treatment Day 10 of treatment Day 17 of treatment
7. Patient’s Results• Female, 31 year old
• Wound etiology: Post unilateral facelift due to regressed hemangioma,
postoperative flap necrosis
• Wound duration: 32 days
• Previous treatment: Silver sulfadiazine, surgical debridement, AG hydrofiber
dressings
Prior to treatment 1 Week of treatment 2 Weeks of treatment
8. Discussion
• CPM may offer a new and efficacious way to expedite
the healing of open wounds of various etiologies,
including resistant wounds that failed to heal despite
deploying a multitude of treatment modalities including
surgery.
• CPM seems to expedite both the formation of
granulation tissue (including over bones, cartilages
and tendons) as well as epithelialization rates.
• Further research with larger patient volumes are still
needed to verify these findings.
