Business Model Canvas is strategic management and starting template for expanding new or existing business models. In 2005, Alexander Osterwalder has initially proposed the nine "building blocks" of the Business Model Canvas based on his earlier work on business model ontology. Around 2008, new canvases for specific niches have emerged. Using the template, any company can quickly describe their business model. The template consists of nine boxes, which are Key Partners, Key Activities, Value Propositions, Customer Relationships, Customer Segments, Key Resources, Distribution Channels, Cost Structures, and Revenue Streams.
For this assignment, I choose a food and beverage company named Secret Recipe Cakes & Café Sdn Bhd. Founded in 1997 by Tan Sri Dato' Steven Sim, Secret Recipe has successfully established its brand name in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, China, Brunei, Cambodia, Myanmar, Maldives, and Bangladesh. The company also plans to enter the India and New Zealand markets in the future. This cafe serves cakes and fusion food with a Halal certificate given by Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM). The cafe usually located in shopping malls and prime urban locations in major cities in the region. Secret Recipe has grown to over 440 cafes throughout Asia since its establishment. The company also has opened branches in Australia once but because of the high costs of starting up a franchise, the operation was stopped.
I choose this company because I have interested in researching the food and beverage sector compared to other sectors. Besides, it is a leading and largest café chain in Malaysia that has a good reputation and famous among Malaysian because of their delicious cakes. I can say that almost all Malaysian will celebrate anything with the Secret Recipe cakes. Other than that, as a Muslim, I think it is good to know that they committed to follow the standards of preparation of all food and processing plants in the restaurant under the Halal-certification regulatory guidelines including HACCP and VHM guidelines.

Abstract
In the following paper, the authors will discuss the marketing process of a new green building material made from basic glass wine bottles. The team will discuss how to create a solid marketing plan for the new product with an emphasis on knowing your target audience, tracking and managing the stages, and understanding how our product will be presented to the consumer.
New Product Launch Marketing Plan
Introduction
Our company is in the beginning stages of marketing a new eco-friendly building material, which will consist of recyclable glass wine bottles. Our wine bottles will be made into bricks and filler material to use in the construction of buildings. Although the product is in its concept stage, our team has begun to develop a marketing plan that will determine our target markets interests in the product, how to track the stages of development, the product concept and guarantees, as well as our positioning statement
Target Market
Wine bottles are a product that can be sold to consumers around the world, but before investing in advertising we need to make sure that the target market is interested in investing. Aiming for the right target market will expand our options for potential buyers, customize our market profile, and will help target the right audience.
Demographically, we need to educate ourselves in the industry that would invest in wine bottles as fillers to build landscapes. The fact that “our Government leaders have provided the necessary financial incentives to help businesses to implement a greener environment (Spors, 2012), works to our advantage in producing a green alternative building material. It is our hopes that the reaction we will gain from our new customers is loyalty, based on the idea that they are supporting a company that is eco-friendly. Looking to take our product internationally is also on our priority list, since glass is 100% recyclable, many low-income communities can benefit from materials that can be recycled to produce more of the same product. This inexpensive landfill item is becoming popular in some countries and is being used to build homes, and economically glass wine bottles are an excellent alternative. Reactions of local consumers are greatly influenced by culture, social, personal and psychological factors; In order to expand the wine filler industry, we will need to make sure we understand our customers’ needs and wants.
Managing PLC Stages
Knowing and understanding our target market is the first step, but keeping track of where a product is currently in their life cycle allows for identifying what actions are necessary for the product, price, and promotion and place (aka Fou.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

CHAPTER 3 : TECHNOLOGY DESCRIPTION
The tumbler cup dispenser is a new invention of existing tumbler on the present market. This
product might be expensive compared to common tumbler but it is a reliable product to purchase
as it can satisfy customer who own it. This product is made of stainless steel for its body and on
the body, this product use liquid crystal display (LCD) for touch screen function to get hot or
cold water. While in the inner part of tumbler cup dispenser, this product use transmitter of heat
called thermoelectric cooling (TEC) to convert heat with the presence of direct current (DC).
The tumbler cup dispenser is an invention practice to solve customer problem that demand for
hot or cold drink instantly to satisfy their thirsty. This product arises along the technology
development. Nowadays, everything is just in one click. People tend to get things in simple way
at faster rate. So, this product is very suitable as this tumbler can serve customer in just less than
four minutes.
When the weather is cold, people love to have hot water to balance the chillness or to make it
their body less cold. To get hot water, usually people will boil the water first and have other
things ready aside. Actually this practice is easy and simple but the waiting time for water to get
boil that makes it a slow process. Same goes for hot weather. People need cold water to cold
themselves. So, they need to put the ice in their drink to get the water cold faster compared to
wait for the water to chill in the refrigerator.
Both of them can be done if people are perfectly at home or work in the office. The issue arise
are, what about people who are on the car, the students in the class, the worker who works
outside the office? If people bring the hot or cold water from home, the water might not be as
cold or as hot as they want during the travel or during the class. Thus, the tumbler cup dispenser
can help to solve their problem. All they need is has the water ready in the tumbler. So, if they
want hot or cold water on that time, they just need to push the button on tumbler‟s body. It will
serve people in three minutes and they can enjoy their drinks as they desired.
17. 17
Figure 1 – Diagram of TEC on hot side.
For this product, we use thermoelectric cooler as a heat transmitter. Thermoelectric cooler is
solid-state heat pumps that operate according to the Peltier effect. This is a theory that claims a
heating or cooling effect occurs when electric current passes through two conductors. A voltage
is applied to the free ends of two dissimilar materials causing a temperature difference. As the
temperature differs, Peltier cooling will cause heat to move from one end to the other.
Figure 2 - Peltier element schematic. Thermoelectric legs are thermally in parallel and
electrically in series.
A typical thermoelectric cooler will consist of two arrays called p-type and n- type
semiconductor elements that play role as the two dissimilar conductors. The semiconductors are
placed thermally in parallel to each other and electrically in series and then joined with a
thermally conducting plate on each side. When a direct current(DC) passes through one or more
pairs of elements from n- to p-, the decrease in temperature at the junction ("cold") side will
18. 18
occur and resulting in the absorption of heat from the environment. Then, the heat is carried
through the cooler by electron transport and released on the opposite ("hot") side as the electrons
move from a high- to low-energy state.
Figure 3 - Diagram of a typical thermoelectric cooler.
Figure 4 - Diagram of electron transport.
Figure 4 illustrates an "N-type" semiconductor element utilized to facilitate the Peltier effect. In
this example, negatively charged electrons are repelled by the negative pole and attracted to the
positive pole of the DC power source. This forces electron flow in a clockwise direction through
the "N-type" material. Heat is absorbed at the bottom junction and actively transferred to the top
junction by the electrons as they flow through the semiconductor element.
19. 19
Figure 5 – Diagram of LCD.
This product also used technology of liquid crystal display (LCD). An LCD is other electronic
visual display or a flat-panel display that uses the light-modulating properties of liquid crystal
which not emits light directly. It is available to display arbitrary images or fixed images with low
information content that can be hidden or displayed such as preset words, digits and 7-segmnet
displays as in digital clock. They use the common basic technology, except of arbitrary images
are made up of a huge number of small pixels while other displays have larger elements.
Figure 6 - This is basically on how liquid crystal display is working.
20. 20
Figure 7 – Circuit of LCD and touchscreen.
This is the feature of tumbler cup dispenser. The body of the tumbler cup dispenser is made up of
stainless steel to avoid the tumbler to rust due to surrounding temperature. On the body also has
LCD screen for touchscreen purpose.
3.1 Operation Cost
Since electric is used widely for our operation, our company‟s get electric sources from Tenaga
Malaysia Berhad (TNB). Even though water consumption is not as much as electricity, we still
need water for certain purpose that is not related to our operation. We get water supply from
Lembaga Air Perak at Jalan St. John 30200 Ipoh since our company located at Ipoh, Perak.
Communication is very important in our business. It is one of the ways to get in touch with
supplier and also to get updated or informed from manufacturing place. Therefore, we trust in
Telekom Malaysia (TM) as our telephony provider. Besides, internet connectivity can also be
part of communication ways. We also use internet for advertising and promoting purposes
through media social. Thus, we use Streamyx UNIFI plan also by TM. As for facility, our
company is providing centralized air-conditioning which operates for only twelve hours daily.
Last but not least, our company also has 24-hours CCTV surveillance for the sake of safety.
