(EMGs) from subjects walking at different speeds. Five speeds were instructed for
over ground walking and EMGs were measured for ten walking steps at each
speed. Parts of EMG profiles showed considerable changes with speed while other
parts did not show any changes. The authors suggested that the activity at any speed
could be estimated through a linear interpolation of sum of the profile at the lowest
speed and a function that represents the increase in the activity per unit increase of
normalized speed. One limitation of the calculations here was lack of statistical

CHAPTER 1 Introduction
Prosthesis is a term used for replacing a human body part which has been damaged
or cut accidently with an artificial one. Hybrid prosthetic limb is a combination of
mechanical and electrical circuit in which a controller gives command to
electrically driven motor for the gripper opening and closing. Signal for the gripper
opening or closing is acquired from the other shoulder movement. A strap on the
shoulder is tied to a string which switches on or off the limit switch to give a trigger
signal. This trigger signal actuates the motor in the gripper to perform open or close
operation.
In the past few years prototype has been going under many modifications. Last
year it was completed but few flaws were there. Spring Mechanism was used by
previous degree but it was not reliable as due to excess use spring lost its elasticity
and could not be used for triggering. Spring mechanism was also not aesthetically
good. A lot of aesthetics was to be done. To cater for this problem we used limit
switch for efficient triggering and made compact circuitry using 8 pin controllers and

On the other hand, Unoka, Okonkwo s father, was lazy and improvident and was
quite incapable of thinking about tomorrow. If any money came his way, and it
seldom did, he immediately bought gourds of palm wine, called round his

were wanderers on a prehistoric earth, on an earth that wore the aspect of an

earth and that he feels like he has gone back in time. When we think of prehistoric,

In today s society there are many issues involving racial inequality. One major issue
affecting college students and high school seniors is affirmative action. Affirmative
action is a policy favoring those who tend to suffer from discrimination, especially
minorities. Affirmative action started in the 1970 s and its purpose is to help
universities better diversify their campus with different demographics. At the time,
affirmative action was a means of restitution for human rights abuse African
Americans suffered for generations. Today, affirmative action is not limited to blacks,
and is a controversial issue due to higher competition with college acceptance rates.
Those who argue in favor of affirmative action argue that the policy is necessary
because it allows universities to maintain diversity and strip campuses of racial
barriers to reflect a better integrated society. Affirmative action compensates for
opportunities lost to minorities and racism. Supporters also argue that affirmative

better integrate with one another to prepare them for the workforce.

righteousness and judgment. This culture spurned those who strayed from its
religious codes. In his novel The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne uses multiple
symbols to bring a deeper meaning to the society, his characters, and to adultery.
One of the motifs used comes as the character Pearl, the daughter of the two
adulterers. Pearl has multiple descriptions; physically, she is a lovely and immortal
flower, yet also an airy sprite . . . as if she were hovering in the air and might vanish
(80, 83). She has a wild, desperate, defiant mood and is often referred to as a flower,
a bird, and an elf (82, 80, 98, 87). Hawthorne uses Pearl s multi layered personality...
The author uses Pearl s interest in the devil to connect her to a symbol of evil and
sin. The Black Man is associated with the forested wilderness and is found there at
night (250). The chapters A Forest Walk, A Flood of Sunshine, and The Child at the
Brook Side display how naturally Pearl fits into the wilderness. Hester perceives her
now like a real child who was gentler here than in grassy marginated streets of the
settlement (187, 188). Hawthorne shows how the nymph child fits into the Black
Man s forest more than the Puritan village. He conveys how connected she is to the
devil, and that her symbolic character embodies that. This mythical and sinful symbol
has a spell like aspect; Hawthorne uses this character to further the novel and prove
his point. Hawthorne conveys his idea of adultery through Pearl. He connects the
sprite like child and the scarlet letter adultery to make them the same. Pearl was
born from adultery, just like the letter. She is the scarlet letter in another form; the

Hamlet, is one of the second most famous plays out of all which conveys that man
cannot always be courageous and content. Throughout the play, Shakespeare creates
numerous conflicts between characters. Mainly, Hamlethimself has tensions between
other characters. The reason Shakespeare may do this is to exemplify the differences
between Hamlet and another character. Through the use of soliloquies, Shakespeare
highlights the cowardice, gloomy traits of Hamlet which ultimately allows the
audience to determine that Hamlet is a cowardly, miserable man in comparison to
another character in the play like Prince Fortinbras. After promising to avenge his
father s death, Hamlet s state of mindturns for the worst. As the play develops,
Hamlet becomes less and less of a leader whom people look up to and more and
more of a cowardly man. Hamlet comes to realize this himself, and it also becomes
evident to the audience in a soliloquy from Act 4, Scene 4. In this scene from the
play, Hamlet is being taken to England and along the way he comes across Fortinbras
and his army. Hamlet assumes that Fortinbras has his mind set on taking the entire

importing them and it causes current account deficits. The purpose of this paper is to
examine the role of current account in national economic development. As the world
becomes more interdependent and globalized, we cannot ignore the importance of a
