Molar Mass Of Butane And Unknown
Molar Mass of Butane and unknown
Abstract:
The purpose of this lab is to find the molar mass of mixed gases in a lighter, and to calculate the exact
mixture of gases in the lighter. The results of this lab were the mass of the lighter, as 100 mL of water
was displaced, was 0.27g, 0.17g, and 0.28g. The molar masses of the gasses for three trials were 64.3
g/mol, 40.5 g/mol, and 66.7 g/mol.
Background:
The purpose of this lab is to find the molar mass of mixed gases in a lighter, and to calculate the exact
mixture of gases in the lighter. While collecting the volume of Butane gas in a lighter, the molar mass
can also be determined. When attempting to find the molar mass, water displacement is the best
method to use. This can be determined because the equal volumes of all gases contain equal number of
particles, so long as they are measured at the same temperature and pressure. Ideal gas law is the
chemistry involved with this experiment. The equations M=mRT/PV and PV=nRT can be seen
throughout this experiment.
Pre Lab questions:
The Ideal gas law demonstrates a relationship between different values in the equation PV=nRT. The
ideal gas law will be used to find the molar mass of butane.
The ideal gas law can be changed with the equation n=m/M. It can be seen that moles equals mass
over molar mass. This can be changed, and substituted into the Ideal gas law to find the molar mass.
The equation goes from PV=nRT to M=mRT/PV.
Molar Mass is the mass of a given substance. It

Character Analysis Of Mary Warren In The Crucible
There Once Was a Mouse The Salem Witch Trials: a time where the innocent were guilty and the
guilty got away with murder. This horrendous event can be further explained through Arthur Miller s
play, The Crucible. Miller has won many awards in his time for writing many dramas that are very
popular amongst the people and The Crucible just so happens to be one of them. It tells a story about a
harsh time that many people faced when they were losing loved ones who were found guilty since
they didn t confess to a crime that they never committed. While reading the play, a person will find a
theme of power. One specific character, Mary Warren, helps show this theme because as soon as she
gains power, her character changes drastically. Throughout The Crucible, Mary Warren is portrayed as
a very dynamic character since she begins as being very wimpy, then she gains confidence and
becomes brave, and then she goes right back to being timid and controlled by Abigail. In the
beginning of the play, Mary Warren s character is well known as being wimpy and afraid. She is under
Abigail s control and will do everything she says. According to Sara Constantakis in Literature
Resource Center, she is weak and easily influenced. She is one of the girls who took part in the
voodoo ritual and is terrified when the talk of witchcraft begins, as she knows people who are
convicted of being witches are hanged. This opinion of Mary is further proven by her action of not
telling the truth about what happened in the woods because she knows Abigail would kill her. Abigail
even screams I say shut it, Mary Warren! (Miller, Act I). Mary is always listening to Abigail s
demands, even when she knows the right thing to do. Mary Warren is seen as a poor little mouse who
is too quiet to ever stand up for herself. In addition to this, Mary wants to confess about what
happened in the woods, but Abigail won t let her. Mary cries, Abby, we ve got to tell. Witchery s a
hangin error, a hangin like they done in Boston two year ago! We must tell the truth, Abby! You ll only
be whipped for dancin , and the other things! (Miller, Act I). Mary knows she is innocent and for that
reason, she is ready to own up to her sins, however Abby knows that she

The 4-Th Amendments Of The Fourth Amendment And The 4th...
The house of every one is to him as his castle and fortress, as well for his defense against injury and
violence as for his repose (Coke, 1604). This statement was written by an English barrister, judge and
the greatest jurist of the Elizabethan and Jacobean eras. These powerful words value the 4 th
amendment. The fourth amendment is one of the important sections in the Bill of Rights which helps
people to secure and protect their houses, papers and persons from officers who abuse their authority.
When America was a Britain colony , justices of the peace were writing laws in order to help people
earn money on customs. This political process was possible only through a general warrant which
allowed free searches and seizures to happen. It means officers could search a suspected place without
any evidences. Also, they could even to seize you without reasons. However, in 1756 some towns like
Massachusetts turned this tricky law into new one, which prohibited the general warrant. This rule
allowed citizens to live and work in peace. Later, such movements caused to addition of The Fourth ...

Firstly, the warrant is not require when search or seizure is voluntary. Secondly, searches in the plain
view and in open fields such as pastures, parks, woods are also included in this list. However, it is

Oliver v. United States, two Kentucky State police officers ignored no trespassing sign and got inside
defendant s field. Nearly to the defendant s house the officers found a marijuana crop. At trial the
defendant could not prove the violation of the Fourth Amendment as searches in open fields are lawful
based on The Fourth Amendment. According to the Supreme Court open fields cannot support a

Argumentative Essay On Bill 9
Mock Congress Journal was required to write Bill 9 (The Transportation and Economic Growth Act of
2016) and Bill 11 (A Resolution to Ban Monitoring of Social Media). I Found a pretty good amount of
Information that is Against Bill number 9 like how it actually would not help the federal highway
system and public transportation it would just hurt them because the 45 cents raise in cost for gas may
sound like it is not much, but when paying for gas that 45 cents would cause it to go up from 60$ for a
full gas tank to 90$ for a full gas tank. Another reason why raising the gas prices would be bad is that
it would cost so much more to take publ=ic transportation like a Taxi or a Airplane than what it is like
now so if the gas prices are raised then the chance of somebody taking an airplane or a taxi would
drop a lot. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Indentured White Servants In Colonial America
The colonies of 1916 were desperate for labor and manpower, to grow enough food to stay alive since
agriculture and craftwork were key to the development of the colonies. The colonists thought about
forcing the Indians to work for them, but they were massively outnumbered (Zinn). Initially,
indentured white servants were used for labor, but there was not a sufficient quantity of them and the
amount of work was increasing. Fearing a servant revolt, the colonies resorted to using African slaves
rather than the servants. They relied on the slaves to work on the plantations or mine precious metals.
The Virginians needed labor to grow corn and tobacco. The rest of the colonies also needed labor to
work on similar plantations. Tobacco plantations required thousands of workers meaning the owner
wouldn t be making much profit. In the beginning, indentured white servants were the answer. These
were mainly the ones who could not afford a boat trip to America to start a new life so they offered
themselves as servants for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first is that these slaves had prior farming experience, knew how to grow crops unfamiliar to the
colonies, and they could teach these skills to their masters. The second advantage is that Africans
tended to be immune to malaria and yellow fever meaning they found a more efficient way to grow
rice. The last advantage was that slavery was like a disease. Enslavement laws stated slaves were
purchased once and then owned for their entire life. (Teaching U.S History) If a slave had a child, that
child would be enslaved for the rest of his or her life leading to multiple generations of slaves. Slavery
proved to be a plentiful investment for plantation owners. The slave trade itself brought in a great
amount of money to the colonies. For the areas that weren t thriving off crops, they could just import
or export slaves. Slavery proved to be a plentiful investment for plantation

How Did Muhammad Ali Change The World
Beyond a shadow of a doubt, Muhammad Ali changed the universe of games. Winning the
heavyweight title three times starting with his stunning bombshell of Sonny Liston in 1964, which
made him the most youthful boxer to unseat an officeholder heavyweight champion Ali is considered,
nearby Joe Louis and Sugar Ray Robinson, outstanding amongst other boxers to enter a ring. In spite
of the fact that his pugilistic style was unconventional and an attack against boxing idealists at the
time, his amazing mix of speed and power changed the game, and most boxing eyewitnesses have
now come to concur with Ali s long term gloat that he was The Greatest of All Time.
Muhammad Ali, Boxing Legend, Dead at 74. However, while his accomplishments in the ring may
have earned him the title of Sports Illustrated s Sportsman of the Century in 1999, it was extremely Ali
s allure outside the field that made him maybe the most unmistakable and adored figure on the planet.
Other than Jackie Robinson, who smashed baseball s racial obstruction in 1947, nobody can match his
effect as an extraordinary twentieth century American games figure. The main things faster than his
clench hands and feet were his psyche and mouth: Speaking truth to control, the talkative Ali said
things in a fierce, even haughty way that standard America was not yet arranged to hear, particularly
leaving the mouth of a youthful dark man.

A Wireless Sensor Network usually is formed by numerous wireless sensor devices. Routing is an
important mechanism which will help the data to get forwarded to the right destination. Internet
Protocol is an important protocol which helps in routing process. Generally the nodes in a Wireless
Sensor Network are integrated and routing using IP version 4 is difficult as the address space is
limited. IP version 4 uses 32 bit addressing mechanism which is not sufficient to complete the routing
process. The other option is the use of Internet Protocol version 6. IPv6 is the latest version of Internet
protocol and it uses 128 bits addressing mechanism. The IETF working group had defined a standard

The new mechanism called as Anycast helps in finding the nearest or best destination as viewed by the
routing topology. Data is routed using the defined path. These mechanisms are used in 6LoWPAN.
4. SECURITY MESURES
It is essential to provide secure environment while routing data in Wireless Sensor Network. IP
version 6 provides necessary security. The length of the address is big and the header format is
completely changed. Further, IPSec is part of the protocol suite. A Quality of Service feature can be
implemented using the Flow Label field of the IPv6 header. This feature is used to provide priority
levels to the data packets. Stateless Address Auto Configuration is a feature that helps version 6
addresses to get configured automatically when the hosts are connected to IP version 6 networks.
IP version 6 supports globally unique addresses with which the activity of every device can be easily
tracked. The elimination of NAT reduces complexity and every device using IP version 6 is on the
public network. The various transitioning techniques like Dual Stack, Tunneling and Proxying helps in
communication between both the versions of IP addresses without increasing any kind of overhead.
Considering all the mentioned factors, a proper framework needs to be defined for secure data
transmission.

Cecil Rhodes Imperialism
Between the year of 1853 and 1902, the rulers of the European countries were enthusiastic about
increasing their kingdoms for financial profits especially the British. In the article Confession of Faith

Britain s right to fight for land. Rhodes thoughts explained the beliefs that imperialism was the way to
political and profitable success and explains how British managed to expand its nation. To understand
the reason behind Rhodes thoughts, here is a little history about him and his personal success. A poor
health child from Hertfordshire, was forced to stay at home while his brothers were sent off to better
schools. Later Cecil Rhodes moved to South Africa to improve his well being. Rhodes later founded
the state of Rhodesia, known as Zimbabwe. He established a foundation for his wealth by working

Ethical Dilemmas Of Bruch Spinoza
Be not astonished with new ideas; for it is well known to you that a thing does not therefore cease to

Spinoza is psychological and ethical egoist.
Born in 1632 Bruch Spinoza was a descendent of the Portuguese Jewish community. After much
harassment and ill treatment by the Portugal, his family fled to Amsterdam. The unique Jewish
community in Amsterdam comprised of the people originally from Spain, Portugal and France who
had the urge to practise their inherited faith freely. As a pupil of the congregation, Spinoza received
education that deemed necessary as a Jew. This included Hebrew, liturgy, Torah, prophetic writings,
and rabbinical commentaries. Even though, he excelled as a student, he left school whether by
necessity or by desire and went onto to work in his father s business. The advantage of having an open

This ambitious multifaceted work is proved bold to the point of audacity. It tries to show that ethical
truths have the same logical necessity as the mathematical truth. The truth about God, nature, self,
religion and good life is well presented in the five sub divisions of Ethics. Although metaphysics,
physics, anthropology and psychology take most of the first three divisions, the crucial message of
work to be ethical in nature is well conveyed. I believe the motive behind Spinoza s work is to show
that happiness does not lie in superstitions that are interpreted as religion but rather in the life of
reason. He goes on to explain this transition, in the five parts each consisting of definitions, axioms

Essay on Trojan War
Did the Trojan War occur?
The existence of a war in Troy is undeniable; however it is not the Trojan war of Homer s Iliad. It is
believed that Homer s account may have been based on a real event therefore having some truth but
due to the mythological nature of the source, the unreliability of oral transmission and the exaggerated
romantic theme, the account is not a valid source for historians. Written evidence such as the Hittite
records and the different theories presented by archaeologists Schliemann, Dorpfield, Blegen and
Korfmann strongly suggest the occurrence of a war in troy and have some links to the Iliad. Despite
these links, there is only enough evidence to support the existence of a war in Troy but not explicitly

Heinrich Schliemann was one of the first archaeologists who discovered the site based on geological
descriptions in Homer s Iliad. Through the excavation of the site, Schliemann uncovered nine major
layers on the mound and concluded that level 2 was Homer s Troy. Archaeologists who came later
criticised Schliemann s amateurish excavation methods and concluded that level two was too early to
be the Homeric Troy. Despite Schliemann s destruction and false claims of the site, his discovery of
Hissarlik proved that there is some truth to Homer s account and deserves some credit for setting the
foundation for archaeologists such as Blegen, Dorpfield and Korfmann. Schliemann s discovery of the
site proved that there is no doubt Troy existed and that the city s destruction was definite.
Wilhelm Dorpfield was one of many archaeologists who began excavations and studies at Hissarlik.
Level VI was the level that Dorpfield believes is the legendary Troy. He argued that Level VI fitted
Homer s description as being a grand city surrounded by high limestone walls. However, there was no
evidence of Greek camps outside the walls of the city that supported Homer s account of a ten year
siege, thus leading us to conclude that Level VIIa must ve been the Homeric Troy. Layers of charcoal
uncovered by Korfmann that dated to roughly 1250 BC, the approximate end of Homer s Troy is

Similarities Between The Song Of Roland And Perceval
The concept of honor and the connection of living our life with honor has been pondered by
philosophers, intellectuals, and the common people. Even as far back as medieval times, the idea of
honor is a key factor in what shapes the rules of society. Knights would try their best to apply the
Code of Chivalry to their everyday lives. The Code of Chivalry is a compilation of rules that guide the
knight to be what was considered honorable in their time. Most knights would try to live to the code,
but it could be seen that knights would violate the code which create a horrible consequence for him
and the people around him. An example could be seen with Roland in The Song of Roland, and
Perceval in The Story of the Grail . Two knights trying their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In medieval times it was called the Code of Chivalry. The knights, who used the Code of Chivalry,
were living in a much different time period than ours; as they lived in a time period without a strong
central power. What this shows, for knights that honor for them is much more focused on the
individual . As Roland and Perceval fails to upheld their version of the code as their internal conflicts
were too much for them to handle. While in the modern era, which is much more centralized, focuses
more on the wellbeing of the group. In our society, being able to work together with people and make
decision based on the welfare of the common people is an important rule for our people to live with.
People in our modern era works based off that important idea and it is in their nature to work with
cooperation and for the welfare of the group. The knights version of the code in a time era where
centralization was lacking was based off himself ,while in the modern era our focus is shifted from
ourself to cooperation and the welfare of our society.

Mexican American Studies Should Not Be Banned
America is woven of many strands. Our fate is to become one, and yet many (Ralph Ellison qtd. in D
Angelo). Although this quote may be over fifty years old, its meaning still stands; our country should
be made of many different cultures and ethnicities that come together to make one United States.
However, this cannot be accomplished if our nation does not allow for different cultures to learn about
their own country and hold on to their heritage as well as gaining knowledge on the history of the
United States. Thus, Mexican American studies should not be banned in Arizona because contrary to
the belief that learning about other cultural struggles is anti American, actually focusing on the racial
identities within the United States is an important step towards becoming a multicultural nation.
The United States of America is a nation based on the idea of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of
happiness, the people from this country have an obligation to make sure that every American can
experience these given rights. However by banning Mexican American studies in Arizona, this right to
express and learn about their culture is taken away. According to Kirk Semple of the New York Times,
about 41 percent of all Mexicans between ages 16 and 19 [in the city] have dropped out of school.
There could be a plethora of reasons why this statistic may be so high for Mexican Americans,
however, based on the statements made by students in the documentary Precious Knowledge, there

History, Principles And Value Of Infant Observation
Introduction To quote child analyst Esther Bick, one may have to sit with children for a long time
completely in the dark about what is going on, until something suddenly comes up from the depth that
illuminates it. (Bick 1962, p.632). Infant observation is a powerful tool when working with children
that helps clarify what it is that comes up from the depth . This paper will briefly outline the history,
principles and value in infant observation. I will then further examine my own experience of infant
observation of four year old S. My observations of S had recurring themes of perfectionism, obsessive
compulsive behaviours and avoidance. S was extremely shy and constantly sought teacher approval.
By examining attachment theory, the emotions of shame and guilt, containment, the drive to know,
mental pain and false self, I was able to psychoanalysis S s unconscious thoughts and feelings which
were conveyed in her behaviour.
History of Psychotherapy and Infant Observation Sigmund Freud is known as the founder of
psychotherapy. Freud was interested in the emotional relationship between the past and the present,
and the feelings it generated. Subsequently Abraham (1924), Klein (1928), Fairbairn (1952) among
others, further developed Freud s work of the emotional life. They examined the earliest relationships
of infancy and the processes these set up within the developing mind. Winnicott (1949), Bick (1968)

he always drinks whisky out of a sack which supposedly provides an explanation for why he s got a

real old family to boot. But through meeting Dolphus with Dill, Scout is informed that he pretends to
be an alcoholic because it was the only way the Maycomb would accept him. He says this was so
because they could not grasp a sane white person ever living with coloured folks. This interlude with
Dolphus Raymond at the beginning of chapter 20 foreshadows Atticus s views, expressed later, that
black people are people like everyone else. Scout and the readers learn that we shouldn t judge people
by appearances. Although she judges Dolphus by his reputation, her opinion changes after she has met
him something that sadly the white jury of the trial is incapable of doing regarding Tom Robinson.
This scene underlines the prejudices of the white community, with hints that if a white person loves a
black person they have to have an excuse for it and with Scout discovers more about the simple hell
people give other people. The trial reveals a lot of hidden traits of Atticus, even the littlest things
seeming abnormal to Scout and Jem.

The Feminist Movement Essay
The changes that occurred in gender relations at the turn of the twentieth century were a factor in the
emergence of modernism. The first wave of the Feminist Movement began during this period with the
New Woman as its protagonist. The New Woman was a figure that was independent, relatively
sexually liberated and educated. Many women no longer lived their lives according to the Victorian
ideal required for them and it became more acceptable for women to be seen unaccompanied outdoors
and working in certain types of employment. The new woman was perceived as being a treat to men
and after the First World War the independence that women enjoyed received a repercussion as
women were once again put inside the home and were and were ... Show more content on

(Port 2001, 205) According to Sigmund Freud, a man about thirty still appears youthful and is still
opened up to the possibilities of change and development. However, a woman of the same age, often
frightens us by her physical rigidity and unchangeability . (Porter 2001, 206) In the character of Sasha
Jansen can be seen the social, biological and economic consequences of ageing for women and the
strenuous efforts that she invests in staving off the effects of aging in order to achieve the effects of
appearing young. (Savoury 1998, p121)
A woman s ability to appear beautiful and desirable is threatened by the lack of financial resources as
well as by the exhaustion and depletion of their bodies over time and through the effects of

Modern society through the desires of advertising and consumer culture places women under pressure
to maintain a youthful appearance. The early twentieth century saw the rise of mass culture , fashion

Allusions In O Brother Where Art Thou
Some movies have strong connections to famous books, epics, or myths. Often times, there will be
many strong allusions to different epics, but there will be few weak allusions. In Joel and Ethan Coen
s O Brother Where Art Thou, The movie has strong allusion with the plot, hero qualities, and the
minor characters of The Odyssey,
O brother Where Art Thou has strong allusion with the minor characters of the Odyssey. For example,
in the movie, Everett and his men meet a blind traveler who tells them about their journey ahead. This
shows a strong allusion to The Odyssey as Odysseus and his men meet a blind foreteller named
Tiresias. Tiresias tells them about the different issues occurring at home and how to reach Ithaca.
Another example is that, in the movie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

cyclops named Polyphemus, who started eating his men. After Odysseus beat him, the cyclops prayed
to his father, Poseidon to bring about hardship to Odysseus. Lastly, in the movie O brother Where Art
Thou, a man named Vernon was trying to marry Penny. When Everett saw this, he started attacking
Vernon. This shows an allusion to The Odyssey, as many suitors tried to marry Penelope when
Odysseus was gone. Once Odysseus came back, he started fighting with the other suitors.
O brother Art Thou also has strong allusions with the plot of the Odyssey. For example, in the movie
O brother Where Art Thou, Delmar wanted to stay in the Baptist rive, because he was attracted to the
river and felt like he was relieved when he dipped his head. Everett, however, forced Delmar to get
out of the water and continue their journey. This shows an allusion to The Odyssey, as Odysseus had
to force his men away from the Lotus eaters. Some of his men ate lotus, which made them relieved of
their problems and want to stay there for the

was happy about some of his New Deal Reforms, and he was faced with much opposition from some
individuals as well as a few larger groups. The largest group to oppose not just one, but several of the
New Deal Acts was the United Stated Supreme Court. In 1935 the Supreme Court took a stance from a
legal perspective to invalidate some of these New Deal laws. The first New Deal law to be affected

Analysis Of Kim Kardashian And Kayne West Essay
Most people have idolized a celebrity at one point in their life, yet how far are we willing to allow that
idolization to control our life? Idolization of celebrities help to play a sizable role in the actions of the
individuals that make up our society. Kim Kardashian is a well known celebrity in today s society,
who has an extensive amount of fans. This particular photo is from a spread that Vogue did over Kim
Kardashian and Kayne West in their quest for world domination and the perfect wedding dress
(Bowles 208). Vogue s cover over the multi million dollar couple offered a glimpse into their
extravagant lifestyle. Kim shares these bona fide moments of her life in order to help preserve her an
image as a genuine celebrity. This photograph of Kim Kardashian, shot for a Vogue spread, represents
an image of authenticity as an integral component in the creation of a successful celebrity.
At first glance, the viewer s eyes are drawn to Kim standing in the middle of the room which makes
her the center of attention. Everyone else in the room is situated in way to form a semi circle around
Kim, as if to say they are lesser than her and she is the most important. The Vouge shot image is a full
shot of the whole room, yet still demands direct attention to be given to Kim in the middle of the
room. Furthermore, the full shot also helps to make Kim appear larger and more paramount than the

How Does Heller Use Satire In Catch 22
Catch 22 is a novel that satirizes war. Throughout the novel, Joseph Heller creates humor in a dark
time. Additionally, he explains the paradox of a catch 22 and how it represents the hardships of a
soldier in World War II. Heller also makes fun of war. Characters, such as Major Major Major Major
and General Scheisskopf, have exaggerated names which brings humor to the novel. A final tactic
Heller uses is highlighting the worst parts of war. Extended bombing missions is an example of these
tragic parts in the war. In many ways, he uses satire in Catch 22 to point out the ridiculous and
pointless aspects of war.
Heller wrote Catch 22 to create humor within a dark time period. During World War II, he witnessed
many awful tragedies and experiences. He wrote this as a satire because he knew readers would not
want to read about war s harsh realities. The phrase catch 22 is humorous, yet represents the tragic
reality of war. A catch 22 is a paradox with a negative connotation. The classic version of a catch 22 in
the book was being discharged from the army. You could only be grounded from flying, and
discharged, if you were crazy. But if you were crazy, you would not ask to be grounded. So by asking
to be grounded, it proved you not to be crazy. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Catch 22 was published in 1961, only 16 years after the war. At that time, World War II was still a
very sensitive subject. Joseph Heller carefully works his way through this, in a way that still
represents what happened in the war. Heller does not explicitly speak of the bombing missions or the
treatment of troops. ...[which exposes] not only the gaping holes in the fabric of society but also the
inability of language to give voice to the outrage of the human condition (Ruderman 1991: 30)

horror soldiers dealt with. Catch 22 accurately displays these realities through humor and

Scout Finch Real Courage
Harper Lee wrote To Kill a Mockingbird at a small town of Maycomb, Alabama, after The Great
Depression. The novel talked about racism, prejudices, and social rules which caused society to be
unfair. Scout Finch is a little girl who is the main character in the novel. Her characteristics are
courageous, equal, and emotional by nature, which make her get many troubles when she first goes to
school. However, she gradually grows up and becomes more mature and understandable through each
chapter by learning and overcoming many troubles in her life. In particular, although Scout s formal
schooling is disappointing, there are many valuable lessons which she learns from real life: empathy, a
real courage, and categorization of people.

There is one type of people in the world no matter what they are from, what they look, and what they
believe. The type of people cannot be classified by the way they live, the way they thought. For
example, white people and black people cannot be categorized two different types of people when
white people bring many disadvantages on black people because they only have different thoughts.
Because all people are human beings, they should be treated equally and respectfully to make the
society become fair. However, in the article To Kill a Mockingbird, Jem said, There s four kinds of
folks in the world. There s the ordinary folks like us and the neighbors, there s the kind like the
Cunninghams out in the woods, the kind like the Ewells down at the dump, and the Negroes. (Lee
302). This quote shows the way Jem thinks that people are categorized into four types based on
background, ancestry, and race. In contrast, Scout thinks categorization in a different way, Naw, Jem, I
think there is just one type of folks, Folks. (Lee304). This quote indicates Scout s perspective that all
people are people regardless of race, background, and ancestry. Jem s categorization of people is
incorrect because he understands people through his own eyes. In addition, he sees many unequal
treatments,

Ethos And Target Audience Analysis Of Nike s The Switch
The Switch Audience Analysis
The way humans are persuaded is fascinating. The ability to successfully persuade someone in today s
world is one of the most obtainable and important assets to have as a person. Cultures have been
swallowed by the concept of advertisement. Everyday humans are affected by and make decisions
because of persuasion, yet persuasion can be broken down into three simple categories: ethos, pathos
and logos. If done well, advertisers can use these strategies to their advantage to persuade potential
customers. Advertisements have one objective: to sell a product or an idea. As times have changed, so
have the contents of ads. Companies and corporations spend billions of dollars in hopes to
successfully persuade their audience. The Switch by Nike efficiently uses ethos and pathos within
their ad to persuade the viewer to buy their product.
Ethos Target Audience
The Switch ad begins by using ethos. Cristiano Ronaldo s presence in the ad establishes the credibility
of Nike as a brand. Cristiano Ronaldo is considered by most to be one of the greatest players currently
playing. By utilizing a player of this caliber in their ad, Nike can appeal to its potential buyers. Even if
the consumer dislikes the player for whatever reason, credibility is still established out of respect for
Ronaldo s sheer talent as a professional soccer player. While most people are just focused on Ronaldo
and the storyline itself so much is happening behind the scenes. There are

Why Do Cell Phones Cause Cancer
Cell Phone Usage and Cancer Southeast Missouri State University UI319 Science, Technology, and

135, Olga V. Naidenko and Linda S. Erdreich debate the issue of health effects of cell phone usage.
Naidenko states that cell phone usage does cause cancer, or at least that more research should be done
about longer term usage than what has been done previously. Erdreich opposes the idea, stating that
studies have shown there are no long term health effects of cell phone usage (Easton, 2010. p. 135

generally safe for everyday use. That being said, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These studies have shown that long term users of cell phones, those who have had a cell phone for
more than ten years, have had increase incidence of developing a glioma, which is a brain tumor that
is usually malignant. This tumor usually develops on the side of the brain that is most commonly used
for cellular conversations. She states that there has been evidence showing a 90% greater occurrence
of developing glioma on the side the cell phone is most commonly used. She also states that there has
been research done to show that acoustic neuroma, a usually benign growth on the nerve that runs
from the inner ear to the brain, increases by 60% in long term cell phone users. Acoustic neuroma can
cause hearing loss, ringing in the ear, and unsteadiness ( Acoustic Neuroma, 2013). The opponent,
Erdreich, states that research has proven that cell phone usage is not dangerous. Erdreich begins her
statement by saying that cell phones use radio waves, similar to television, baby monitors,
microwaves, and of course, the radio. These waves are of lower energy and frequency than the waves
required to produce radiation. The lower frequency radio waves are unable to cause DNA mutation,
which is what causes

James I Growing Hostility
Use Sources 13 14 and 15 and your own knowledge. Do you agree with the view that the main reason
for hostility towards James I in England, in the years before 1618, was the immorality and corruption
of the royal Court? Before the years 1618, there were various factors which contributed towards the
hostility of James I. These factors include his unpopular decisions, uneasy relations with parliament,
matters of religion and finally the issue of his extravagant lifestyle in which he shared with his
favourites in court at a time when England was already in a poor economic state. However, to a certain
extent in many ways it is proven that that his declining popularity had a lot to do with the immorality

In 1613, after a scandalous divorce, Robert Carr married Frances Howard, daughter of the Earl of

was showered with money, gifts and land (including Sherborne Manor which had once belonged to
Raleigh) and created Viscount Rochester in 1611 and the Earl of Somerset in 1616. However due to
the scandal which led to the imprisonment of Carr, Villiers was next in line to fill the vacuum created
at court following the disgrace of Carr. However, Villiers portrayed an equally poor image of the court
as he retained the greatest power in the land. He acquire the position that Essex had craved and
Elizabeth had refused in 1601: a dominant role in the distribution of patronage and effect control of
government. This reinforces James unprofessional attitude in

British Independence
When Britain first created the colonies, they thought they had really done something and that the
colonies would forever be ruled by them. Although this sounded good to both the colonies and Britain
at first, the Continentals soon changed their minds. The colonists broke away from British rule mainly
because of implementation of the Sugar Act, Stamp Act, Tea Act, and the Intolerable Acts; all of which
were imposed by Parliament. In 1776, Parliament passed the Sugar Act. The act increased the prices
on all sugars that the colonies used. The profits from it went directly to Britain to pay for the French
and Indian War debt. This upset the colonists because they were previously told that they would not
have to pay for any of the war, then the King of England imposed this tax on them anyway. This began
the colonists anger toward Britain. The Stamp Act was passed in 1765, it required the colonists to pay
a tax on any printed paper goods that they used, and they had to have a stamp on them proving that the
tax was paid. This was the first direct tax imposed on individual colonists. All of the proceeds went
toward British soldiers, which did not benefit the colonists at all. The Sons of Liberty protested some
but it did little to no good to sway Parliament. Eventually the colonies boycotted all British goods
which pushed Parliament to repeal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

damage when they set their minds to it. The Boston Tea Party was a direct response to the Tea Act; it

security is a big challenge. In [8] different database security layers are defined shown in figure (2)
below. These layers are: database administrator, system administrator, security officer, developers and
employee. For each layer some well defined security policies have been anticipated. These policies
ensure the security features, privacy, confidentiality and integrity.
This study mainly focuses on issues in databases security and measures taken to solve those issues.
Securing sensitive data from illegal access, theft and forging becomes a big challenge for different
organizations, like government, no government and privates sectors. Encryption of data in client or
server side where data is shared between different parties is not sufficient.
Basically the problem is to ensure that semi trusted database is secure or not. [6]

  • 2. Molar Mass Of Butane And Unknown Molar Mass of Butane and unknown Abstract: The purpose of this lab is to find the molar mass of mixed gases in a lighter, and to calculate the exact mixture of gases in the lighter. The results of this lab were the mass of the lighter, as 100 mL of water was displaced, was 0.27g, 0.17g, and 0.28g. The molar masses of the gasses for three trials were 64.3 g/mol, 40.5 g/mol, and 66.7 g/mol. Background: The purpose of this lab is to find the molar mass of mixed gases in a lighter, and to calculate the exact mixture of gases in the lighter. While collecting the volume of Butane gas in a lighter, the molar mass can also be determined. When attempting to find the molar mass, water displacement is the best method to use. This can be determined because the equal volumes of all gases contain equal number of particles, so long as they are measured at the same temperature and pressure. Ideal gas law is the chemistry involved with this experiment. The equations M=mRT/PV and PV=nRT can be seen throughout this experiment. Pre Lab questions: The Ideal gas law demonstrates a relationship between different values in the equation PV=nRT. The ideal gas law will be used to find the molar mass of butane. The ideal gas law can be changed with the equation n=m/M. It can be seen that moles equals mass over molar mass. This can be changed, and substituted into the Ideal gas law to find the molar mass. The equation goes from PV=nRT to M=mRT/PV. Molar Mass is the mass of a given substance. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Character Analysis Of Mary Warren In The Crucible There Once Was a Mouse The Salem Witch Trials: a time where the innocent were guilty and the guilty got away with murder. This horrendous event can be further explained through Arthur Miller s play, The Crucible. Miller has won many awards in his time for writing many dramas that are very popular amongst the people and The Crucible just so happens to be one of them. It tells a story about a harsh time that many people faced when they were losing loved ones who were found guilty since they didn t confess to a crime that they never committed. While reading the play, a person will find a theme of power. One specific character, Mary Warren, helps show this theme because as soon as she gains power, her character changes drastically. Throughout The Crucible, Mary Warren is portrayed as a very dynamic character since she begins as being very wimpy, then she gains confidence and becomes brave, and then she goes right back to being timid and controlled by Abigail. In the beginning of the play, Mary Warren s character is well known as being wimpy and afraid. She is under Abigail s control and will do everything she says. According to Sara Constantakis in Literature Resource Center, she is weak and easily influenced. She is one of the girls who took part in the voodoo ritual and is terrified when the talk of witchcraft begins, as she knows people who are convicted of being witches are hanged. This opinion of Mary is further proven by her action of not telling the truth about what happened in the woods because she knows Abigail would kill her. Abigail even screams I say shut it, Mary Warren! (Miller, Act I). Mary is always listening to Abigail s demands, even when she knows the right thing to do. Mary Warren is seen as a poor little mouse who is too quiet to ever stand up for herself. In addition to this, Mary wants to confess about what happened in the woods, but Abigail won t let her. Mary cries, Abby, we ve got to tell. Witchery s a hangin error, a hangin like they done in Boston two year ago! We must tell the truth, Abby! You ll only be whipped for dancin , and the other things! (Miller, Act I). Mary knows she is innocent and for that reason, she is ready to own up to her sins, however Abby knows that she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The house of every one is to him as his castle and fortress, as well for his defense against injury and violence as for his repose (Coke, 1604). This statement was written by an English barrister, judge and the greatest jurist of the Elizabethan and Jacobean eras. These powerful words value the 4 th amendment. The fourth amendment is one of the important sections in the Bill of Rights which helps people to secure and protect their houses, papers and persons from officers who abuse their authority. When America was a Britain colony , justices of the peace were writing laws in order to help people earn money on customs. This political process was possible only through a general warrant which allowed free searches and seizures to happen. It means officers could search a suspected place without any evidences. Also, they could even to seize you without reasons. However, in 1756 some towns like Massachusetts turned this tricky law into new one, which prohibited the general warrant. Argumentative Essay On Bill 9 Mock Congress Journal was required to write Bill 9 (The Transportation and Economic Growth Act of 2016) and Bill 11 (A Resolution to Ban Monitoring of Social Media). I Found a pretty good amount of Information that is Against Bill number 9 like how it actually would not help the federal highway system and public transportation it would just hurt them because the 45 cents raise in cost for gas may sound like it is not much, but when paying for gas that 45 cents would cause it to go up from 60$ for a full gas tank to 90$ for a full gas tank. Another reason why raising the gas prices would be bad is that it would cost so much more to take publ=ic transportation like a Taxi or a Airplane than what it is like now so if the gas prices are raised then the chance of somebody taking an airplane or a taxi would drop a lot. ... Indentured White Servants In Colonial America The colonies of 1916 were desperate for labor and manpower, to grow enough food to stay alive since agriculture and craftwork were key to the development of the colonies. The colonists thought about forcing the Indians to work for them, but they were massively outnumbered (Zinn). Initially, indentured white servants were used for labor, but there was not a sufficient quantity of them and the amount of work was increasing. Fearing a servant revolt, the colonies resorted to using African slaves rather than the servants. They relied on the slaves to work on the plantations or mine precious metals. The Virginians needed labor to grow corn and tobacco. The rest of the colonies also needed labor to work on similar plantations. Winning the heavyweight title three times starting with his stunning bombshell of Sonny Liston in 1964, which made him the most youthful boxer to unseat an officeholder heavyweight champion Ali is considered, nearby Joe Louis and Sugar Ray Robinson, outstanding amongst other boxers to enter a ring. In spite of the fact that his pugilistic style was unconventional and an attack against boxing idealists at the time, his amazing mix of speed and power changed the game, and most boxing eyewitnesses have now come to concur with Ali s long term gloat that he was The Greatest of All Time. Muhammad Ali, Boxing Legend, Dead at 74. However, while his accomplishments in the ring may have earned him the title of Sports Illustrated s Sportsman of the Century in 1999, it was extremely Ali s allure outside the field that made him maybe the most unmistakable and adored figure on the planet. Other than Jackie Robinson, who smashed baseball s racial obstruction in 1947, nobody can match his effect as an extraordinary twentieth century American games figure. Spinoza is psychological and ethical egoist. Born in 1632 Bruch Spinoza was a descendent of the Portuguese Jewish community. After much harassment and ill treatment by the Portugal, his family fled to Amsterdam. The unique Jewish community in Amsterdam comprised of the people originally from Spain, Portugal and France who had the urge to practise their inherited faith freely. As a pupil of the congregation, Spinoza received education that deemed necessary as a Jew. This included Hebrew, liturgy, Torah, prophetic writings, and rabbinical commentaries. It is believed that Homer s account may have been based on a real event therefore having some truth but due to the mythological nature of the source, the unreliability of oral transmission and the exaggerated romantic theme, the account is not a valid source for historians. Written evidence such as the Hittite records and the different theories presented by archaeologists Schliemann, Dorpfield, Blegen and Korfmann strongly suggest the occurrence of a war in troy and have some links to the Iliad. Heinrich Schliemann was one of the first archaeologists who discovered the site based on geological descriptions in Homer s Iliad. Through the excavation of the site, Schliemann uncovered nine major layers on the mound and concluded that level 2 was Homer s Troy. Archaeologists who came later criticised Schliemann s amateurish excavation methods and concluded that level two was too early to be the Homeric Troy. Despite Schliemann s destruction and false claims of the site, his discovery of Hissarlik proved that there is some truth to Homer s account and deserves some credit for setting the foundation for archaeologists such as Blegen, Dorpfield and Korfmann. Schliemann s discovery of the site proved that there is no doubt Troy existed and that the city s destruction was definite. Wilhelm Dorpfield was one of many archaeologists who began excavations and studies at Hissarlik. Level VI was the level that Dorpfield believes is the legendary Troy. He argued that Level VI fitted Homer s description as being a grand city surrounded by high limestone walls. However, there was no evidence of Greek camps outside the walls of the city that supported Homer s account of a ten year siege, thus leading us to conclude that Level VIIa must ve been the Homeric Troy. Even as far back as medieval times, the idea of honor is a key factor in what shapes the rules of society. Knights would try their best to apply the Code of Chivalry to their everyday lives. The Code of Chivalry is a compilation of rules that guide the knight to be what was considered honorable in their time. Although this quote may be over fifty years old, its meaning still stands; our country should be made of many different cultures and ethnicities that come together to make one United States. However, this cannot be accomplished if our nation does not allow for different cultures to learn about their own country and hold on to their heritage as well as gaining knowledge on the history of the United States. Thus, Mexican American studies should not be banned in Arizona because contrary to the belief that learning about other cultural struggles is anti American, actually focusing on the racial identities within the United States is an important step towards becoming a multicultural nation. The United States of America is a nation based on the idea of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of happiness, the people from this country have an obligation to make sure that every American can experience these given rights. However by banning Mexican American studies in Arizona, this right to express and learn about their culture is taken away. According to Kirk Semple of the New York Times, about 41 percent of all Mexicans between ages 16 and 19 [in the city] have dropped out of school. History, Principles And Value Of Infant Observation Introduction To quote child analyst Esther Bick, one may have to sit with children for a long time completely in the dark about what is going on, until something suddenly comes up from the depth that illuminates it. (Bick 1962, p.632). Infant observation is a powerful tool when working with children that helps clarify what it is that comes up from the depth . This paper will briefly outline the history, principles and value in infant observation. I will then further examine my own experience of infant observation of four year old S. My observations of S had recurring themes of perfectionism, obsessive compulsive behaviours and avoidance. S was extremely shy and constantly sought teacher approval. By examining attachment theory, the emotions of shame and guilt, containment, the drive to know, mental pain and false self, I was able to psychoanalysis S s unconscious thoughts and feelings which were conveyed in her behaviour. Although this sounded good to both the colonies and Britain at first, the Continentals soon changed their minds. The colonists broke away from British rule mainly because of implementation of the Sugar Act, Stamp Act, Tea Act, and the Intolerable Acts; all of which were imposed by Parliament. In 1776, Parliament passed the Sugar Act. The act increased the prices on all sugars that the colonies used. The profits from it went directly to Britain to pay for the French and Indian War debt. This began the colonists anger toward Britain. The Stamp Act was passed in 1765, it required the colonists to pay a tax on any printed paper goods that they used, and they had to have a stamp on them proving that the tax was paid.
