Aims of this task:
In this unit, you have studied film, the fantasy genre and creative writing. You will
need to draw on this knowledge to create an engaging fantasy narrative.


Outcomes Assessed:
A student:
1. responds to and composes texts for understanding, interpretation, critical
analysis and pleasure
2.     uses a range of processes for responding to and composing texts
4.    uses and describes language forms and features, and structures of texts
appropriate to different purposes, audiences and contexts


You will be assessed on your ability to:

•    Write an original, engaging story that fits into the fantasy genre
•    The central theme needs to focus on resilience and overcoming adversity
•    Present your ideas in an appropriate form
•    Use language appropriate to audience, purpose and context
•    Present a polished work using accurate spelling, punctuation, grammar and
paragraphing appropriate to the task



The Task
Write a 500-word narrative that includes features and conventions of the fantasy
genre.

Consider the following: Setting, Plot, Themes, Characterisation and Style

        descriptions of the adventures, feelings and impressions of the
        character(s) exploring this world.
        2. Uses and adapts the processes of planning, drafting, rehearsing,
17-20   responding to feedback, editing, and publishing to compose
        sophisticated texts over time
        4. A sophisticated and engaging text that demonstrates very detailed
        understanding of the conventions of fantasy writing and flair and
        sophistication in structure and language
        1. Creates an imaginative fantasy world including descriptions of the
        adventures, feelings and impressions of the character(s) exploring this
        world.
         2. Uses and adapts the processes of planning, drafting, rehearsing,
13-16    responding to feedback, editing, and publishing to compose sound
         texts over time
        4. Composes a sound and engaging text that demonstrates detailed
        understanding of the conventions of fantasy writing with flair and control
        of structure or language
        1. Creates a fantasy world including descriptions of the adventures,
        feelings, and impressions of the character(s) exploring this world.
        2. Uses and adapts the processes of planning, drafting, rehearsing,
9-12    responding to feedback, editing, and publishing to compose
        sophisticated texts over time
        4. Composes a developed text that demonstrates sound understanding
        of the conventions of fantasy writing with control of structure or

Aims of this task: In this unit, you have studied film, the fantasy genre and creative writing. You will need to draw on this knowledge to create an engaging fantasy narrative. Outcomes Assessed: A student: 1. responds to and composes texts for understanding, interpretation, critical analysis and pleasure 2. uses a range of processes for responding to and composing texts 4. uses and describes language forms and features, and structures of texts appropriate to different purposes, audiences and contexts You will be assessed on your ability to: • Write an original, engaging story that fits into the fantasy genre • The central theme needs to focus on resilience and overcoming adversity • Present your ideas in an appropriate form • Use language appropriate to audience, purpose and context • Present a polished work using accurate spelling, punctuation, grammar and paragraphing appropriate to the task The Task Write a 500-word narrative that includes features and conventions of the fantasy genre. Consider the following: Setting, Plot, Themes, Characterisation and Style
