Effective Lesson Plan for Standard 1: Oral Communication
This lesson plan was an excellent tool to have my students participates in an
oral discussion. After reading the story “Get the Tent”, the students were
encouraged to relate the story to an authentic situation. As a facilitator I gave my
students the guided questions that serve as a base for their creations. I consider
that this was an excellent lesson because the students had the opportunity to be
creative, allowing them to create upon imagination. Once the students made the
drawing/painting they had the opportunity to share their imaginary trips. I believe
that this lesson encouraged the students to communicate orally with their peers
because they were relating their discussion with their lives. During this lesson
plan the students were working upon the grade level expectation L/S 1.3, were the
students use basic vocabulary to relate to self, family and interact with peers.
