• Introduction
• Activity 1: Changing polymer pellets
• Activity 2: Hunting for polymer products
• Activity 4: Testing the strength of
different polymer films
• Design Project (Designing a humidity
sensor)
• Product Idea : Cheap price polymeric
filaments heat-resistant
 Polymer is a molecule, made from joining together many small molecules
called monomers. The word "polymer" can be broken down into "poly"
(meaning "many" in Greek) and "mer" (meaning "unit").
 Polymers are found in most of the products we use every day.
 Objective : Testing the ability of polymer to absorb water (this is the objective)
 Procedure:
1. prepare tow 0.5g sample of polymer pellets . Record the mass of the samples
2. Add 10ml of plain water to each beakers, allow the mixtures to sit 10 min , record your
observation each sample.
3. remove the samples from the beakers, and pat the samples dry with a paper towel. Measure
and record the mass of each sample . Then put the sample back into their beakers.
4. Add 10ml of plain water to sample A and 10ml of salt water to sample B and compare what
happens to the pellets .
•Conclusion:
1. The two sample of polymer pellets absorbed water
when we put fresh water in them .
2. Sample B released water and decreased in size
3. Sample A absorbed the water when put water in
them again.
• Objective : The objective of this activity is the To know
that the polymers are present in all our daily lives

• Procedure:
1. Dispense the solution from the pipette
as evenly as possible onto the
unlabeled side of one the slides.
Holding the pipette horizontally.
2. Use a single – edge razor blade to
peel off carefully one of poly films
you made .
3. Fold the film lengthwise into
thirds. Then fold over ond end of
the film about 0.5 cm .attach a
binder clip so that it just covers
the folded area.
4. test the hardness of the film by
scratching its surface with a
paper clip

•Conclusion
• Objective : The objective of this activity is design a
humidity sensor made of a polymer film that change
color as the moisture level in its environment changes
Procedure:
1. Make a mark on a
clean pipette 7 cm
2. Dispensing pipette indicator evenly as
possible and put it in the universal
bottle
3. Dispensing pipette polymer evenly
possible put it in the universal bottl
4. Dispensing pipette mixture
consisting of polymer and
indicator evenly as possible
onto the slide
5. Exposure of slide to
Moisture
5. Exposure of slide to hot
air
• Results :
•when Exposure slide to Moisture the color change
in 1 min
• when Exposure slide to hot air the color change in
1 min and 25 sec
Introduction and importance of the project
 The temperatures in the Gulf region are high one who thought
manufacture clothes suit of this nature and circumstances exist,
such as metals (cars) that are of high temperatures may hurt
people and clothing specifically
 And also in the wilderness trips flames or sparks clothing may
contact Fathrgaha and cause damage to clothes and some
restaurants timeliness damaged clothing
 And more importantly, that these clothes are cheap
At an affordable price
Target Search
 Clothing industry of polymer resistant to high temperatures cheap
 Is it possible to manufacture clothing polymer resist
high temperatures and be cheap available for all
 The polymer contains the following features:
1. Be in the form of filaments
2. Flexible
3. Light
4. Does not absorb water
5. Resistance to pull and tear
6. Cheap
7. Do not affect the human skin
 I am a student Abdulrahman Yami one day I was going to land in Rlhalh
I figured I do afire Vttajri on some sparks and draws my clothes
 I am a student Dapt Mubarak one day I went to a restaurant when he
came Garson food was hot pot Vtlams my dress with the pot, which led to
damage my dress
 I am a student Khalid Mlash in one hot days you put my hands on the car
and the car lane, which led to the burning of my dress
Many thanks to my teachers, school and AL-Bairaq team
from Center for Advanced Materials (CAM), Qatar
University for supporting us during our journey with a
AL-Bairaq.
Also, I would like to thank the sponsors UNESCO, Qatar
National Commission, Ras Gas, Maersk and Shell.
