:Polymer
• Are a large class of materials
consisting of many small molecules
(called monomers) that can be linked
together to form long chains, thus
they are known as macromolecules.
The picture at the top of the page is a
short section of such a chain. A typical
polymer may include tens of thousands
of monomers. Because of their large
size, polymers are classified as
macromolecules.
Activity 1 .Changing polymer pellets
Tools
Prepare -1
two 0.5 g
of the
polymer
.pellets
Add 10ml of plain -2
water to each beaker ,
allow the mixtures to
.sit for 10 min
remove the samples -3
from the beakers . Then
measure and record
the mass of each
.sample
add 10 ml of -4
water to sample
A and add 10 ml
salt water to
sample B and sit
of for 10 min
filter any -5
leftover liquid
from the
beakers and
measure it
.again
Activity 1 .Changing polymer pellets
SAMPLE A SAMPLE B
Before the
experiment
After
addition
the water
Increase 10
ml of water
g 0.5 g 10 g 19
:Conclusion
Before the
experiment
After
addition the
water
Increase 10
ml of salt
water
5g .0 g 10 g 9
When we adding water to the polymer, the
polymer Increased size and dilation, but
when we put salt water the polymer
diminish Weight and this is Back to
Property spread .
Hunting for polymer
Activity 2 .products
Natural
cotton
Natural skill
Natural
rubber
Activity 3 Comparing the viscosity of
: Viscosity
.liquid
viscosity, resistance of a fluid to flow. This resistance acts against the
motion of any solid object through the fluid and also against motion of
the fluid itself past stationary obstacles. Viscosity also acts internally
on the fluid between slower and faster moving adjacent layers.
Activity 3 Comparing the viscosity of
.liquid
:Name of Liquid ( Molecular Weight (amu
Methanol 32
Ethylene glycol 62
Glycerol 92
Example of Viscosity
11 22 :
33 44
Activity 4 Testing the strength of
different polymer films
Tools
Write the - 1
table and the
polymer name
.
Use pipettes - 2
to take polymer
. solution
Make a - 3
layer of the
solution on
.the slide
Use a - 4
razor blade
to peel off
films
Measure - 5
the length
of the film
AFTER
48
HOURS
Activity 4 Testing the strength of
different polymer films
cm
sec
Design Project Humidity sensor
we use pipettes to - 1
take polymer , water
. and sensor
we mix - 2
them
.together
we put the - 3
mixture on
.slide
we put the - 4
slide on Amid
humid
Design Project Humidity sensor
:Conclusion
The color of the sensor change to blue in Dry
. and to pink in wit
:Product Idea New Dye
Our idea about use the glass in dye to make it better . We get our
. idea from the soil on the street

.We recommend using light colors , if you want to make this product
Also you should use small parts of glass .In addition we can use our
. product in Ballroom
Conclusions
We enjoy our Experience in al-bairaq . And we learned lots of thing in
this experience . In addition We hope to be able to participate in this
.competition next year
We want to thanks the partner UNESCO ,
