We have been studying the people of the North West and Inuits. In this essay I will describe their
differences and explain why they are different. They have a large variety of differences which had a
large effect on lifestyles.
Housing
The Inuits lives in snow houses known as Igloos. They houses were made out of snow as it was
plentiful in the area they lived in. The snow was many metres thick so it was ideal for insulating
Igloos; this meant they kept at a comfortable 16°C especially when the females cooked food.

The difference in climate between the Inuits and the North West people was due to their position on
the Earth. They both lived in totally different environments and this also controlled other factors such
as what they had available to eat. Each group adapted to their living environment and habitat so to

Hunting
The Inuit people had to go out and hunt for food; this was the job for the men. In the summer when the
ice melted they hunted from boats known as Kayaks. The kayak could move efficiently through the
water so the hunter could get close to the prey without being heard. They usually hunted for ringed
seals as it was an all year round mammal so it could be hunted in the winter as well as in the summer.
It also provided essential vitamins and minerals which were found in fruits, but as they didn t have
fruits in their habitat they had to rely on seals. The Inuit hunter would use a sharp harpoon to stab the
seal; he would then drag it up and take it inland. Caribou and whale was also hunted for their skin and
certain parts of their bodies which would make good tools for carving in their spare time.

INTRODUCTION
The principle of freedom of an individual is the core tenet of liberalism. The foundation of liberalism
is categorized into three. The first is the freedom from arbitrary rule, termed negative freedom which
includes freedom of the press, equality before the law, freedom of conscience and right to property.
The second set of rights ensures the protection and promotion of the capacity and opportunity for
freedom, which is called the positive freedom. Example of such rights are the social and economic
rights to health care, education, gainful employment, for human dignity and participation in the
society. Thirdly, political rights of democratic representation or participation i.e., right to vote or be
voted for to ensure that the other two rights are not infringed on (Kant Political Philosophy, 1993. p.
173).
Liberalism today could slightly be different with earlier views as a result of changes in time and
history however the fundamental tent of liberty and the ideals of freedom, equality, independence as

This short essay will identify five traditional epic characteristics that are evident in both the Iliad and
the Odyssey.
The first epic characteristic evident in both epics is catalogs and genealogies. For instance, Book VIII
of the Odyssey features a list of participants in the game (115 125) and the Iliad Book II features a
catalog of ships (484 759).
Secondly, both epics start in media res. The Odyssey starts ten years after the Trojan War and the Illiad
starts nine years after the start of the war.
Thirdly, the Muses are prayed to for inspiration to tell the story, which can be observed in the Iliad
Book I (1 9) and in the Odyssey Book I (1 31).
Fourthly, the main characters also give long formal speeches. For instance, in Book XI of the Iliad,
Hector rallies his men with a long speech after Agamemnon is carried off the field (248 291).
Similarly, there are extended speeches between Telemachus and the suitors, which compile Book II of
the Odyssey.
Finally, there is intervention of gods or machinery in both epics. For Odysseus , Poseidon s divine
