Human Nature Of Nature
Man kinds biggest question in life is about our purpose and place on earth. Human civilizations
throughout time have struggled with understanding nature and society s purposes in nature, which
often stems from responsibility, coexistence, and population control concerns for humanity as well as
animal kind. Several wolf species have faced persecution and sever lost of habitat because of humans.
Man kind s treatment of varying wolf species clearly stems from people s attempt to balance
responsibility, coexistence, and population control, but failing miserably. However, human
civilizations recently begun to intensely attempt to be responsible with nature, coexist with other
inhabitants of nature, and ethical population control for animals with the use of education and
advancements in technology. Human civilization s technologies have a purpose and place on earth in
which humanity is morally and ethically responsible for the environment and animals of Earth that
require coexistence and ethical population control intervention from mankind. Advancements in
technology cause an awakening of awareness for man kind s responsibility towards humans own
natural surroundings, awareness of human impact on those surroundings, and human s impact on other
inhabitants. Recent advances in remote sensing technology, and the processing of remotely sensed
data through geographic information system (GIS) to directly address... certain question presented by

Nonverbal Immediacy In The Workplace
Introduction
The workplace is not often the first place one would think that you need to convey warmth. In a
professional setting, our society does not often think about the relationships and nonverbals that
express and influence behavior. A virtuous leader is one who will lead their employees to achieve
desired goals. An effective leader that provides job satisfaction is important in the workforce we have
today. High job satisfaction enhances employees psychological and physical wellbeing (Ilardi, Leone,
Kansser, Ryan, 1983) This can in turn influence employee productivity and success for both parties.
Supervisors can use nonverbals to connect interpersonally with subordinates. The manner in which
supervisors use nonverbals to communicate with their subordinates may be more important than the
verbal content displayed between a supervisor and subordinate. This analysis will examine the issue of
subordinate emotional experience and suggest a solution to this problem by encouraging supervisors
to display immediate nonverbals. (Richmond McCroskey, 2000b, p.195) The following paper will
focus on the ways that supervisors can use nonverbal immediacy to improve subordinates emotional
well being in and out of the workplace.
The Problem
According to etiquette expert and author Oropeza Randall, when employees feel discouraged,
underappreciated, or undervalued it can lead to disconnection and apathy which is poison to the
workplace. (Gausepohl, 2017)

World s Most Culturally Diverse And Religiously Open Empire
ACHAEMENID PERSIAN EMPIRE The Achaemenid Empire existed from 559 BC to 330 BC, and
was considered the world s most culturally diverse and religiously open empire in history. The author
s thesis of this chapter is mainly about how tolerance is pivotal in the rise and eventual fall of an
empire. She argues that the willingness of the leaders to accept each culture led to great things, like
fewer rebellions, but it also caused the lack of each group to have a common language, religion, or
interest to respect and worship. The empires success is mainly attributed to tolerance. For example, as
each leader took over more territory and civilizations it let the people go about their lives normally
and keep there same religions and traditions. Also, the multiple rulers had vast naval armies and
always had a strong military. One ruler, King Darius, was always an exceptional administrator and
would ensure the empire was one of the most sophisticated civilizations in history by overseeing
contraction sites, introducing a standard currency, providing a royal mail service, and so on. The glue
that kept the civilization together was the tolerance throughout the empire, without it civilians would
have resented the leaders and riots would have occurred. However, the empires tolerance began to
decline as leaders brutally crushed rebellions by tearing down significant religious structures, killing
priests, and enslaving subjects in the process. The rebellions led to servitude, which

How the Deaf Communicate in a Hearing World Essay
Imagine what life would be like with the inability to hear. Try to envision watching television without
sound or watching an inaudible movie. There is a silence that has way of making the busiest scenes
seem still. Now try to imagine a lively area filled with lots of laughter, roaring music, and a handful of
birds chirping away. That imagery paints a scene of the plain difference between a hearing world and a
deaf one. One world is capable of hearing and the other involves no incoming source of sound
whatsoever. Understanding how deaf culture and how the hard of hearing work and live is important
in order to comprehend the reasons behind why they do the certain things they do such as stare at
others for a long period of time or the reason ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They did not know how to react to the deaf that is until Plato, a Greek philosopher, wrote on the
account of sign language in Ancient Greece which then resulted in a spark in the interests of other
philosophers, writers, and artists (Mirzoeff). On the other hand, Aristotle, another Greek philosopher,
who has been known as one who first recorded a claim about the deaf, theorized that people were only
able to learn languages if the spoken language was heard implying that deaf people were unable to
learn effectively or at all and may as well be uneducated (Jay). It is important to know and realize that
the cause of deafness was not just because of genetics, but because of diseases which then resulted in
the side effect of hearing loss (Mirzoeff). Meningitis, measles, or mumps were common diseases that
would cause the loss of hearing back in the early modern period (Mirzoeff).
In past times, an issue that occurred most often was how to respond to the deaf in terms of education.
They most certainly were not able to hear which meant that they also would not be able to speak
clearly or at all; many questioned how they would be able to comprehend others or communicate with
them in that kind of setting. There were little to no schools that educated deaf children until Thomas
Hopkins Gallaudet, a man with great intellect, decided that what he wanted do in life was to contribute
to the deaf world ( Thomas H. Gallaudet ). Gallaudet, founder of Gallaudet

The Potential Effects Of Stress And Trauma
THE POTENTIAL EFFECTS OF STRESS AND TRAUMA IN PILOT PERFORMANCE
Stress has potential to influence the performance of an individual. The degree of stress correlates with
the degree of arousal in a high pressure situation, which can eustress or impair an individual s
performance (Pignata, 2016). The flight deck of an aircraft is a complex operating environment with
demand for high performance between automated and human interfaces. Exposure to these high levels
of external and internal occupational (Blouin, 2014) stressors has underlying effect on the operational
performance of professional pilots both in the immediate and prolonged circumstances. Stress and
trauma education for especially training pilots is important to highlight the potential effects of
physical, physiological and psychological stressors to manage pressure and optimise pilot
performance of aviation safety.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), (2012) defines stress as the sum of biological responses
to any adverse interplay of physical, mental, emotional, internal or external stimuli which potentially
disrupts the natural balance of the body. There are three main components of stress; stress stimuli,
processing systems and stress response (Pignata, 2016). Stress consists of two categories: acute and
chronic (FAA, 2012). Acute stress is the primitive flight or fight response to immediately perceived
threats. In response to the apparent stressor, the Sympathetic Nervous System (SNS), adrenaline and

The Music Industry Is An Oligopoly
The music industry is an oligopoly. Since the late 1800 s people like Thomas Edison have been buying
up patents in communication technology, forming monopolies, leading to a non competitive
entertainment industry. With only a handful of corporations controlling all aspects of acquisition,
distribution and marketing of music, harsh business principles create an exploitative industry that
takes the best of what artists have to offer and leaves many of them unable to support themselves.
Beginning in the 1950 s with payola and white cover music and ultimately evolving into iTunes and
Spotify, the music industry has grown into a billion dollar industry with far reaching influence and
control. Contracts rarely serve the artists best interest and many are left out to dry when their
usefulness has expired.
In the 1950 s, radio was struggling to keep ratings against the emerging new television craze. Music
executives began to pay disk jockeys to play their music. It is called payola and it is still in practice
today, although it is technically illegal. The record companies write off the legal fines imposed by the
Federal Communications Act as an expense of promotion (Campbell p.88). Black artists in the 50 s
were writing some of the most inventive and marketable music of the time, but their music was still
not palatable to a white audience as long as it was played by black musicians. Record companies
began buying the songs of poor black musicians and giving them to their exclusively

Analysis Of Covers The Ground By Gary Snyder
Title
To people foreign to California, the state is boxed into a set of stereotypical characteristics. The
Golden State has received labels such as surf nation, and liberal land. But to those who ve gotten a
chance to live within this great state appreciate the opportunities and ambitions that come with living
in California. Furthermore, what truly differentiates California from any other place in the world is the
consistent paradoxical environment. This notion is best epitomized by the city of Sacramento and the
cultural, economic and social change that the city has undergone. Gary Snyder communicates this
theme through building around John Muir s ideologies in his work of Covers The Ground. Snyder s
work exemplifies the contradiction between nature and innovation. It presents the paradoxical state
individuals around the world face on whether to accept the innovation and accept the benefits that
come with it, or stay true to the roots of nature and the history that accompanies it. This dilemma boils
down to whether we as a race embrace the progression of time and the paradoxes that follow, or we
find solace in our current state.
The inception of Covers The Ground, begins with establishing the setting of the city of Sacramento.
Understanding the natural beauty of the city is best conveyed by establish vivid imagery and Snyder
accomplishes this by describing the blossoming almond orchard acres. As the image of nature sparks
into the reader s head, Gary Snyder is

Power And Revenge In Just Lather That s All By Gabriel...
Power and revenge are major themes in the short stories Just Lather that s All by Hernando Tellez and
One of these Days by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Both of the protagonists and antagonists in the short
stories get their fair end of being in control and in power. Corrupt power is represented through a
military captain and a Mayor of a town. On the other hand, a barber and a dentist represent civilian
power. This element of power is interchanged several times in these short stories.
TRANSITION WORD*In the story Just Lather that s All the antagonist s name is Captain Torres who
executes rebels who go against him and his crew. In the Captain s perspective, he perceives the rebels
as bad people and in the barber s point of view he believes the Captain is the bad guy. Captain Torrez
walks inside a barbershop and puts his gun into his holster and hangs his weapon up by the door, at the
front of the shop. Captain Torrez and the barber both recognize each other and realize their enemies.
The Captain and the barber don t act upon anything and continue on with their dilemma. The barber
doesn t deny service to the Captain. Therefore, Captain Torrez sits in the barber s chair and at this
point he becomes a customer. There is a reversal of power and the barber becomes in control of the
situation and has a razor blade in his hand. The razor blade becomes a symbol of destiny because the
barber can alter his fate. He can use the blade to kill his enemy and take revenge by turning his

Ammon Ford s Poem
Does poetry really stand a chance if you just read between the lines and not dig deeper to find the full
meaning of the poem? In Ammon Ford unzips Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening, he strives
to read between the lines however, he is set back by his lack of motivation to further develop his full
ideas of the poem itself. Frost s poem has two main symbols in which they represent society and being
on the outside of today s society this is proven by the ideas given in the poem. In the article Ford
summarizes the main ideas in Robert Frost s poem Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening. Ford
explains how there are many meanings to the poem. Throughout this poem, Ford is giving his
opinions on what he thinks about Frost s poem. Also, he explains how there could be many more
meanings beneath the surface symbols that Frost presents. Ford proves his ideas and shows what he
thinks about the symbols in the poem. In the article Ammon Ford unzips Stopping by the Woods on a
Snowy Evening, Ford realizes that there is a deeper meaning to the poem. Understanding this, Ford
realizes that the deeper meaning to the poem could mean so much more. This is enjoyable because the
deeper meanings in the poem is what Ford is trying to interpert. Ford does a good job of explaining his
deeper meanings when saying, The horse could be symbolic of some wordy resemblance or one of the
promises. Ford is further developing this symbol into another meaning. It is awesome how Ford does
not just see on the surface level and digs deeper to find the true meaning. However, on a deeper level
Ford presents ideas in his article that could mean something totally different. Although, Ford digs
deeper to further the meaning of symbolism, he also stays just right under the surface level. Despite
him digging a little deeper Ford fails to explain the real meanings of the symbols. On the other hand
Ford even says how , I personally would rather read the lines than read between them. When Ford
states this is shows that he really did not fully interpret the true meaning of the symbols in Frost s
poem. This shows that Ford would have rather just read the poem than actually digging for the true
meaning. As a result, Ford s explanations

Industrial Revolution
Was the Industrial Revolution a Blessing or a Curse?
The Industrial Revolution was a period of technological improvement that took place in Britain from
about 1750 into the 1900 s. To many, the Industrial Revolution was the gateway into modern day
factories and machinery. The Industrial Revolution was spurred by the competition of Britain against
India or China. India and China were both very productive in the production of goods, meaning the
people of Britain had to buy the cheap products imported from India and China. British businessmen
developed new technology so they could manufacture their own cotton textiles, the main product
imported into Britain. Although some historians believe that the Industrial revolution was a blessing ...

Overseers took most of the money earned and kept it for themselves. Any worker who dared go on
strike or stand up for thei pay was beaten and tortured. This piece of evidence shows that since the
majority of people were part of the working class, they were abused and were arguably better off
working hard and receiving most of the fruits of their labor on farms instead of doubling their
repetitive work for half of the payoff. Adolf Levenstein, a coal miner living during the Industrial
Revolution Reflected in a letter, later collected into the book, From the Depths: Workers Letters,
published in 1905, states how, The work is becoming increasingly mechanical. No more incentive, no
more haste, we muddle along wearily, we are worn out and mindless. My forehead burns like fire....
But in my head it rages and paralyzes me beyond control or without my being able to think. When it
becomes unbearable I stop my slow, energyless working....And that is not all; the spirit too, the
conscience of the individual, degenerates. And one drudge, grown vacuous through his work, is put
beside another one, and another one and finally this modern circle has closed in on the entire working
force (Levenstein). The work in the mines was tiring and repetitive. Since machines have taken more
of the desirable jobs and workers have been laid off, the laborers who are still employed had to work
tedious jobs. This letter provides a view into the daily

What Is The Narrative Techniques Used In Northanger Abbey
Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey is a bildungsroman, a coming of age story that focuses on the
psychological development, and maturity of the protagonist Catherine Morland. This essay will
analyse the language, and narrative techniques of the set extract, and discuss how this excerpt suggests
vicissitude in Catherine s priorities, within her role as Austen s female bildungsroman. In addition, it
will discuss the domestic gothic and real life abuse that prevails in ordinary situations. Furthermore, it
will argue how Austen s rhetorical techniques work to encourage reader interest, and to exercise

Written in third person limited omniscient, and filtered predominantly through Catherine. The
unknown narrator slips effortlessly into free indirect disclosure, which adopts the tone and inflection
of an individual characters voice. This technique allows the narrator to intrude into the narrative to
offer advice, or to foreshadow the characters. However, the narrator frequently breaks from
convention and addresses the reader directly.
Setting and imagery, is important in the novel, the word Abbey , represents connotations of the gothic
itself, which conjures up expectations of horror, and danger, and visions of the uncanny.
Characterisation, through dialogue and free indirect disclosure allows readers to perceive for
themselves the personality and agendas of each individual.
The word choice is rich, and the narrative construction subtle, compassionate, and credible, making
the phrasing natural, realistic, and easily understood through tone and dialogue. My dear Eleanor,

Research Methods And Design Course At River Community College
Introduction I used the proposal developed in the 692 Research Methods and Design course to collect
data that would answer my main question, With what frequency and consistency do students and
professors use the literacy support services available at River Community College? and its four sub
questions. This data was collected between January 11 to March 31, 2016. The support provided by
my family, Dr. Wilcox, my 694 Reading Research Practicum fellow student, and my selected critical
colleague allowed me to successfully complete my data collection, my analysis, and my report.
Educational Research Research, educational and action, are key to the continued improvement of
educational methodologies and strategies. Educational research provides theories and pedagogy by
organizing empirical facts (Johnson, 2012, p. 9). These scientific studies reach peer reviewed
conclusions that can be applied in multiple situations. Action research is more specific and focuses to
provide a usable action plan (Johnson, 2012, p. 16). In the 692 and 694 courses, I use the five essential
steps (Johnson, 2012, p. 16) to conduct an action research project by asking if students at Grand
Rapids Community College (GRCC) were given literacy support because so many of my students
seemed to struggle with reading and comprehending course texts and writing course assignments,
even though they demonstrated interest in and understanding of the material in class. I also was

The City of Trees
Boise, Idaho is located in a wide river valley at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. In 1834 the Hudson
Bay Company established Fort Boise for the purpose of a fur trading location and as a general trading
port along the Oregon Trail route. The fort was located 40 miles from the present day city of Boise
and was situated at the mouth of the Boise River. The area of present day Boise was named Les Bois
which is French for wooded . It is said that US Army Officer Captain Benjamin Bonneville said Les
bois, les bois, voyez les bois which translates to the trees, the trees, look at the trees because they were
seeing the cottonwood lined Boise River after their long journey across the more barren Snake River
Plain. However shortly after the trading fort was established, it ... Show more content on

Ms. Bauman There are some unbelievable philosophies. One of the unbelievable philosophies would
have to be Plotinus. According to page 133, Plotinus believed that the world is a span between two
poles. At one end is the divine light which he calls the One. Sometimes he calls it God. At the other
end is absolute darkness, which receives none of the light from the One. But Plotinus s point is that
this darkness actually has no existence. It is simply the absence of light in other words, it is not. All
that exists is God, or the One, but in the same way that a beam of light grows progressively dimmer
and is gradually extinguished, there is somewhat a point that the divine glow cannot reach. Even
though some scientists might disagree with this, but there is a God. There is no poles that distinguish
our own hell or heaven. We are given a current life span in this Earth and if we follow His
commandments and follow the Lord, we will go to Heaven. There is no such thing as the pole theory

My Long Term Educational And Professional Goals
When beginning the psychology major, I was unsure of what my long term educational and
professional goals were. Now that I am in my senior year, I am still not positive about my path overall
path. However, I do have a plan that I feel will work perfect for me. I am reaching a time in my life
where I will be financial stable, be married, have a partner to share responsibilities, and have the
knowledge to be the best parent possible. I think it is important for one parent to be home before the
children enter preschool. Once the children are entered in school, I feel it would be a good time for me
to either go back to school or choose a career I can achieve with my bachelor s degree. If I were to go
back to school, it would most likely be to obtain a master s degree for counseling. I am very interested
in Central Washington University s Master Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis. In ten years, if I
complete my masters, I see myself working with families, children or adolescents. This might be
either in an office setting or school setting. I know that I would not want to go to the client s home as
the primary setting.
There are several ways in which the courses I have taken at Central Washington University have

Rembrandt s Christ In The Storm On The Sea Of Galilee
A painting captures a single moment. Most of the time, the audience does not see what happens before
and after the moment of the piece, but Rembrandt s Christ in the Storm on the Sea of Galilee is his
depiction of Mark 4:35:39, a story that most children learn in Sunday School. Mark 4:35 36 tells the
moments before the storm: On that day, when evening had come, He told them, Let s cross over to the
other side of the sea. So they left the crowd and took Him along since He was already in the boat. And
other boats were with Him (The Bible). Rembrandt fabricates the scene of verse 37 and 38: A fierce
windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking over the boat, so that the boat was already being
swamped. But He was in the stern, sleeping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, he works with a variety of shades of black within the murky storm clouds. Raetta Parker
notes, Black is a mysterious color associated with fear and the unknown and denotes strength (Parker).
For this purpose, Rembrandt uses the storm to symbolize the hard times, or storms , in a person s life.
In this case, the strength of the storm is overpowering the boat, making it hard for the disciples to keep
the boat from being destroyed and overtaken. By looking at the picture, the storm has cause one of the
riggings to break free from the boat and tore the sail, not standing a chance against the strong winds
the storm is throwing at them. Also, the dark colors of the overcast prevent the disciples from being
able to see the shores. There is no place for the disciples to dock the boat until the storm passes by,
stuck in the middle of the storm Comparing the painting to life s challenges, people can often be
broken emotionally or physically, whether it may be a death of a loved one or having to face a
terminal illness. They can feel as if, like the disciples, all alone with nowhere to escape to safety.
Whatever situation one may face, it can be overpowering and seems as if there is no hope in

and was main part of the movie. Throughout the movie he didn t seem to be evil or have the
predisposition to betray Jesus, he showed caring feelings and wanted what he thought was best for
Jesus. Something that I thought was interesting was after he betrayed Jesus he realize what he had

what he had done and hanged himself. Judas caused Jesus anger much throughout the movie, He
seemed to enjoy the attention and did not like him trying to tell him to stop and shy away from the
crowd so he begins to ignore him. When Judas sees that he himself has lost control as well, he realizes
his mistake and the terrible, mysterious love that Jesus had for him. Judas echoes Mary s song, and
goes on to see that his friend knew all along what would happen. In the end of the movie Judas
committed suicide but his questions were never answered. He still remained angry with Jesus (and
God) and continually asks him not to think wrong of him. He thought very highly of Jesus but just

board of Progreso Independent School District after reports of corruption and mismanagement of

often trying to develop people s nationalism within their country. Nationalism will lead to a state of
ultranationalism an extreme form of nationalism ultranationalists are often fanatically loyal to their
own nation and hostile and racist toward other nations. Three examples of ultranationalists are
Hirohito(Japan), Adolf Hitler(Germany), and Joseph Stalin(Russia).
During WWI, increased Japanese exports to western countries gave Japan a great success both
politically and economically; suddenly, when the Great Depression stated, the trading with other
country failed and Japanese suffered for a long time. And after the death of Crown Prince Yoshihito,
his son Hirohito Emperor Showa (1901 1989) became the 124th Emperor of Japan according. He
gradually turned his country toward ultranationalism and militarism. During WWII, Japan allied with

Craven Book have faced a huge issue when they tried to implement a new IT system in order to face
to growing demand. This problem with the new IT system has had major impact on the company, and
the protagonists don t agree about who s responsible for this mess. In the video there are four main
participants: Peter Craven (the top manager), the IT manager, the employees and the IT consultant. Let
s see to what extend each of them is responsible.

The company employees: Implemented a new system may create problem with employees such as
resistance. In this case it seems that they didn t adapt their way of working with the new It System.
Part of this problem may be due to the complexity of the system itself but there is also a part due to a
lock in their intention to really understand the new system. They were also too passive, they didn t
communicate about the problem they were facing. It should have been resolved faster. There was also
a problem with the storage, they kept on ignoring the main storage rules and put a complete mess,
which was a difficulty for the IT system.
The consultants: there is a real question about the interest of the consultant, which may not be the
same as the company s one. In this case it seems that they have been more interested in charging the
company with an expensive system rather really helping it. They should have warned the company
about the risks and maybe followed closer the implementation of the IT system. The IT consultants
had the complete trust of Craven Books managers and were able to do whatever they wanted; we can
think they haven t been totally honest.
To conclude the biggest fault is Peter Craven s. As the boss, he has the overall responsibility for the
success or failure of this project. He s the one who have to make sure that everything is going on in his
company,

Comparison Between Sports And Sports Essay
Esports vs Sports The roar of the crowd, the rush of adrenaline as you watch your favorite team take
the field, the excitement of watching your team score, and how you feel during a close game are all
aspects of watching sports that people tend to identify with. Sports aretraditionally been thought of as
physical activities. However, in recent years Esports, better known as competitive gaming, have begun
to take the world by storm with record prize pools and viewership numbers. Fans of competitive
gaming get to experience of all the same aspects that people that watch physical sports. Both sports
and competitive gaming have organizations and salaries for players who are also allowed to take on
sponsorships for themselves. In all sports they require some type of teamwork and coordination to
make certain plays happen, but competitive gaming in a game such as League of Legends has a far
different lifestyle than say, football. These two sports have many similarities like; their reliance on
teamwork to win, the players training days, their type of internal structure, and the structure of their
competitions and leagues; but also differ in multiple ways such as organizations and players have
different opportunities to succeed or fail. Physical sports and Esports show to be very similar and
vastly different. Football and League of Legends competitions are more alike than most people would
assume they are. We all can relate to one team that we root for like with the National

Charlie-Personal Narrative
I sit on a scuffed wooden bench in the company of a lone stroller. Charlie is tucked inside, sleeping
peacefully. I woke up early this morning for no reason in particular. Perhaps I m subconsciously still
trying to make up for lost time, being with Charlie and soaking up as much sunlight as possible. The
entire town had longed for anything but a gray sky since the beginning of winter and today was finally
that day. Spring was coming. The last of the snow has slowly melted away, along with everyone s
puffy coats and holiday spirit. Although this morning began quite nippy, any chill disappears as the
sun rises higher in the sky. Today, I watch the small town awake and begin it s normal early morning
bustle. Doors to shops along the street and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s a rare occurrence to see a car in this town, and we both take a moment to gape with morbid
curiosity. No doubt, it s someone just passing through the town; entering one minute and out before
the next. I squint into the distance and study the approaching car. I shield my eyes from the sun
reflecting from the windshield to get a better look. It could be a trick of the light, but the car seem to
be veering off the road, speeding straight at us. _____ In an instant, these lives have forever been
changed. One moment there was a successful businessman, a striving mother and a bright, young man.
The next, a man slaughterer, an accident witness and a corpse. An entire world of possibility was
crushed along with every bone in Andrew s body, the expensive steel frame of Mr. Caravero s car and
Anne s hopeful spirit. The once ordinary morning was now filled with the sounds of distant sirens
approaching, Mr. Caravero s car alarm blaring and a baby wailing. Anne gathered her child quickly
into her arms, hugging him tightly and thanking her lucky stars that it wasn t her boy. Her heart aches
for Andrew s mother, who would have one less child after today. It could ve been Charlie, Anne tells
herself. It could ve been

  • 2. Human Nature Of Nature Man kinds biggest question in life is about our purpose and place on earth. Human civilizations throughout time have struggled with understanding nature and society s purposes in nature, which often stems from responsibility, coexistence, and population control concerns for humanity as well as animal kind. Several wolf species have faced persecution and sever lost of habitat because of humans. Man kind s treatment of varying wolf species clearly stems from people s attempt to balance responsibility, coexistence, and population control, but failing miserably. However, human civilizations recently begun to intensely attempt to be responsible with nature, coexist with other inhabitants of nature, and ethical population control for animals with the use of education and advancements in technology. Human civilization s technologies have a purpose and place on earth in which humanity is morally and ethically responsible for the environment and animals of Earth that require coexistence and ethical population control intervention from mankind. Advancements in technology cause an awakening of awareness for man kind s responsibility towards humans own natural surroundings, awareness of human impact on those surroundings, and human s impact on other inhabitants. • 3. Nonverbal Immediacy In The Workplace Introduction The workplace is not often the first place one would think that you need to convey warmth. In a professional setting, our society does not often think about the relationships and nonverbals that express and influence behavior. A virtuous leader is one who will lead their employees to achieve desired goals. An effective leader that provides job satisfaction is important in the workforce we have today. High job satisfaction enhances employees psychological and physical wellbeing (Ilardi, Leone, Kansser, Ryan, 1983) This can in turn influence employee productivity and success for both parties. Supervisors can use nonverbals to connect interpersonally with subordinates. The manner in which supervisors use nonverbals to communicate with their subordinates may be more important than the verbal content displayed between a supervisor and subordinate. This analysis will examine the issue of subordinate emotional experience and suggest a solution to this problem by encouraging supervisors to display immediate nonverbals. (Richmond McCroskey, 2000b, p.195) The following paper will focus on the ways that supervisors can use nonverbal immediacy to improve subordinates emotional well being in and out of the workplace. The Problem According to etiquette expert and author Oropeza Randall, when employees feel discouraged, underappreciated, or undervalued it can lead to disconnection and apathy which is poison to the workplace. • 4. World s Most Culturally Diverse And Religiously Open Empire ACHAEMENID PERSIAN EMPIRE The Achaemenid Empire existed from 559 BC to 330 BC, and was considered the world s most culturally diverse and religiously open empire in history. The author s thesis of this chapter is mainly about how tolerance is pivotal in the rise and eventual fall of an empire. She argues that the willingness of the leaders to accept each culture led to great things, like fewer rebellions, but it also caused the lack of each group to have a common language, religion, or interest to respect and worship. The empires success is mainly attributed to tolerance. For example, as each leader took over more territory and civilizations it let the people go about their lives normally and keep there same religions and traditions. Also, the multiple rulers had vast naval armies and always had a strong military. One ruler, King Darius, was always an exceptional administrator and would ensure the empire was one of the most sophisticated civilizations in history by overseeing contraction sites, introducing a standard currency, providing a royal mail service, and so on. The glue that kept the civilization together was the tolerance throughout the empire, without it civilians would have resented the leaders and riots would have occurred. However, the empires tolerance began to decline as leaders brutally crushed rebellions by tearing down significant religious structures, killing priests, and enslaving subjects in the process. The rebellions led to servitude, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. How the Deaf Communicate in a Hearing World Essay Imagine what life would be like with the inability to hear. Try to envision watching television without sound or watching an inaudible movie. There is a silence that has way of making the busiest scenes seem still. Now try to imagine a lively area filled with lots of laughter, roaring music, and a handful of birds chirping away. That imagery paints a scene of the plain difference between a hearing world and a deaf one. One world is capable of hearing and the other involves no incoming source of sound whatsoever. Understanding how deaf culture and how the hard of hearing work and live is important in order to comprehend the reasons behind why they do the certain things they do such as stare at others for a long period of time or the reason ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They did not know how to react to the deaf that is until Plato, a Greek philosopher, wrote on the account of sign language in Ancient Greece which then resulted in a spark in the interests of other philosophers, writers, and artists (Mirzoeff). On the other hand, Aristotle, another Greek philosopher, who has been known as one who first recorded a claim about the deaf, theorized that people were only able to learn languages if the spoken language was heard implying that deaf people were unable to learn effectively or at all and may as well be uneducated (Jay). It is important to know and realize that the cause of deafness was not just because of genetics, but because of diseases which then resulted in the side effect of hearing loss (Mirzoeff). Meningitis, measles, or mumps were common diseases that would cause the loss of hearing back in the early modern period (Mirzoeff). In past times, an issue that occurred most often was how to respond to the deaf in terms of education. They most certainly were not able to hear which meant that they also would not be able to speak clearly or at all; many questioned how they would be able to comprehend others or communicate with them in that kind of setting. There were little to no schools that educated deaf children until Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet, a man with great intellect, decided that what he wanted do in life was to contribute to the deaf world ( Thomas H. • 6. The Potential Effects Of Stress And Trauma THE POTENTIAL EFFECTS OF STRESS AND TRAUMA IN PILOT PERFORMANCE Stress has potential to influence the performance of an individual. The degree of stress correlates with the degree of arousal in a high pressure situation, which can eustress or impair an individual s performance (Pignata, 2016). The flight deck of an aircraft is a complex operating environment with demand for high performance between automated and human interfaces. Exposure to these high levels of external and internal occupational (Blouin, 2014) stressors has underlying effect on the operational performance of professional pilots both in the immediate and prolonged circumstances. Stress and trauma education for especially training pilots is important to highlight the potential effects of physical, physiological and psychological stressors to manage pressure and optimise pilot performance of aviation safety. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), (2012) defines stress as the sum of biological responses to any adverse interplay of physical, mental, emotional, internal or external stimuli which potentially disrupts the natural balance of the body. There are three main components of stress; stress stimuli, processing systems and stress response (Pignata, 2016). Stress consists of two categories: acute and chronic (FAA, 2012). Acute stress is the primitive flight or fight response to immediately perceived threats. In response to the apparent stressor, the Sympathetic Nervous System (SNS), adrenaline and ... • 7. The Music Industry Is An Oligopoly The music industry is an oligopoly. Since the late 1800 s people like Thomas Edison have been buying up patents in communication technology, forming monopolies, leading to a non competitive entertainment industry. With only a handful of corporations controlling all aspects of acquisition, distribution and marketing of music, harsh business principles create an exploitative industry that takes the best of what artists have to offer and leaves many of them unable to support themselves. Beginning in the 1950 s with payola and white cover music and ultimately evolving into iTunes and Spotify, the music industry has grown into a billion dollar industry with far reaching influence and control. Contracts rarely serve the artists best interest and many are left out to dry when their usefulness has expired. In the 1950 s, radio was struggling to keep ratings against the emerging new television craze. Music executives began to pay disk jockeys to play their music. It is called payola and it is still in practice today, although it is technically illegal. The record companies write off the legal fines imposed by the Federal Communications Act as an expense of promotion (Campbell p.88). Black artists in the 50 s were writing some of the most inventive and marketable music of the time, but their music was still not palatable to a white audience as long as it was played by black musicians. Record companies began buying the songs of poor black musicians and giving them to their exclusively ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Analysis Of Covers The Ground By Gary Snyder Title To people foreign to California, the state is boxed into a set of stereotypical characteristics. The Golden State has received labels such as surf nation, and liberal land. But to those who ve gotten a chance to live within this great state appreciate the opportunities and ambitions that come with living in California. Furthermore, what truly differentiates California from any other place in the world is the consistent paradoxical environment. This notion is best epitomized by the city of Sacramento and the cultural, economic and social change that the city has undergone. Gary Snyder communicates this theme through building around John Muir s ideologies in his work of Covers The Ground. Snyder s work exemplifies the contradiction between nature and innovation. It presents the paradoxical state individuals around the world face on whether to accept the innovation and accept the benefits that come with it, or stay true to the roots of nature and the history that accompanies it. This dilemma boils down to whether we as a race embrace the progression of time and the paradoxes that follow, or we find solace in our current state. The inception of Covers The Ground, begins with establishing the setting of the city of Sacramento. Understanding the natural beauty of the city is best conveyed by establish vivid imagery and Snyder accomplishes this by describing the blossoming almond orchard acres. Both of the protagonists and antagonists in the short stories get their fair end of being in control and in power. Corrupt power is represented through a military captain and a Mayor of a town. • 10. Ammon Ford s Poem Does poetry really stand a chance if you just read between the lines and not dig deeper to find the full meaning of the poem? In Ammon Ford unzips Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening, he strives to read between the lines however, he is set back by his lack of motivation to further develop his full ideas of the poem itself. Frost s poem has two main symbols in which they represent society and being on the outside of today s society this is proven by the ideas given in the poem. In the article Ford summarizes the main ideas in Robert Frost s poem Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening. Ford explains how there are many meanings to the poem. Throughout this poem, Ford is giving his opinions on what he thinks about Frost s poem. Also, he explains how there could be many more meanings beneath the surface symbols that Frost presents. Ford proves his ideas and shows what he thinks about the symbols in the poem. In the article Ammon Ford unzips Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening, Ford realizes that there is a deeper meaning to the poem. Understanding this, Ford realizes that the deeper meaning to the poem could mean so much more. This is enjoyable because the deeper meanings in the poem is what Ford is trying to interpert. Ford does a good job of explaining his deeper meanings when saying, The horse could be symbolic of some wordy resemblance or one of the promises. Ford is further developing this symbol into another meaning. It is awesome how Ford does not just see on the surface level and digs deeper to find the true meaning. However, on a deeper level Ford presents ideas in his article that could mean something totally different. Although, Ford digs deeper to further the meaning of symbolism, he also stays just right under the surface level. Despite him digging a little deeper Ford fails to explain the real meanings of the symbols. On the other hand Ford even says how , I personally would rather read the lines than read between them. When Ford states this is shows that he really did not fully interpret the true meaning of the symbols in Frost s poem. This shows that Ford would have rather just read the poem than actually digging for the true meaning. As a result, Ford s explanations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Industrial Revolution Was the Industrial Revolution a Blessing or a Curse? The Industrial Revolution was a period of technological improvement that took place in Britain from about 1750 into the 1900 s. To many, the Industrial Revolution was the gateway into modern day factories and machinery. The Industrial Revolution was spurred by the competition of Britain against India or China. India and China were both very productive in the production of goods, meaning the people of Britain had to buy the cheap products imported from India and China. British businessmen developed new technology so they could manufacture their own cotton textiles, the main product imported into Britain. Although some historians believe that the Industrial revolution was a blessing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Overseers took most of the money earned and kept it for themselves. Any worker who dared go on strike or stand up for thei pay was beaten and tortured. This piece of evidence shows that since the majority of people were part of the working class, they were abused and were arguably better off working hard and receiving most of the fruits of their labor on farms instead of doubling their repetitive work for half of the payoff. Adolf Levenstein, a coal miner living during the Industrial Revolution Reflected in a letter, later collected into the book, From the Depths: Workers Letters, published in 1905, states how, The work is becoming increasingly mechanical. No more incentive, no more haste, we muddle along wearily, we are worn out and mindless. My forehead burns like fire.... But in my head it rages and paralyzes me beyond control or without my being able to think. When it becomes unbearable I stop my slow, energyless working....And that is not all; the spirit too, the conscience of the individual, degenerates. And one drudge, grown vacuous through his work, is put beside another one, and another one and finally this modern circle has closed in on the entire working force (Levenstein). The work in the mines was tiring and repetitive. Since machines have taken more of the desirable jobs and workers have been laid off, the laborers who are still employed had to work tedious jobs. • 12. What Is The Narrative Techniques Used In Northanger Abbey Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey is a bildungsroman, a coming of age story that focuses on the psychological development, and maturity of the protagonist Catherine Morland. This essay will analyse the language, and narrative techniques of the set extract, and discuss how this excerpt suggests vicissitude in Catherine s priorities, within her role as Austen s female bildungsroman. In addition, it will discuss the domestic gothic and real life abuse that prevails in ordinary situations. • 13. Research Methods And Design Course At River Community College Introduction I used the proposal developed in the 692 Research Methods and Design course to collect data that would answer my main question, With what frequency and consistency do students and professors use the literacy support services available at River Community College? and its four sub questions. This data was collected between January 11 to March 31, 2016. The support provided by my family, Dr. Wilcox, my 694 Reading Research Practicum fellow student, and my selected critical colleague allowed me to successfully complete my data collection, my analysis, and my report. Educational Research Research, educational and action, are key to the continued improvement of educational methodologies and strategies. Educational research provides theories and pedagogy by organizing empirical facts (Johnson, 2012, p. 9). These scientific studies reach peer reviewed conclusions that can be applied in multiple situations. Action research is more specific and focuses to provide a usable action plan (Johnson, 2012, p. 16). In the 692 and 694 courses, I use the five essential steps (Johnson, 2012, p. 16) to conduct an action research project by asking if students at Grand Rapids Community College (GRCC) were given literacy support because so many of my students seemed to struggle with reading and comprehending course texts and writing course assignments, even though they demonstrated interest in and understanding of the material in class. One of the unbelievable philosophies would have to be Plotinus. According to page 133, Plotinus believed that the world is a span between two poles. At one end is the divine light which he calls the One. Sometimes he calls it God. At the other end is absolute darkness, which receives none of the light from the One. But Plotinus s point is that this darkness actually has no existence. It is simply the absence of light in other words, it is not. All that exists is God, or the One, but in the same way that a beam of light grows progressively dimmer and is gradually extinguished, there is somewhat a point that the divine glow cannot reach. Even though some scientists might disagree with this, but there is a God. There is no poles that distinguish our own hell or heaven. We are given a current life span in this Earth and if we follow His commandments and follow the Lord, we will go to Heaven. There is no such thing as the pole theory involving heaven and hell. A believable philosophy would have to be Democritus . Democritus is somewhat believable. • 20. Rembrandt s Christ In The Storm On The Sea Of Galilee A painting captures a single moment. Most of the time, the audience does not see what happens before and after the moment of the piece, but Rembrandt s Christ in the Storm on the Sea of Galilee is his depiction of Mark 4:35:39, a story that most children learn in Sunday School. Mark 4:35 36 tells the moments before the storm: On that day, when evening had come, He told them, Let s cross over to the other side of the sea. So they left the crowd and took Him along since He was already in the boat. And other boats were with Him (The Bible). Raetta Parker notes, Black is a mysterious color associated with fear and the unknown and denotes strength (Parker). For this purpose, Rembrandt uses the storm to symbolize the hard times, or storms , in a person s life. In this case, the strength of the storm is overpowering the boat, making it hard for the disciples to keep the boat from being destroyed and overtaken. By looking at the picture, the storm has cause one of the riggings to break free from the boat and tore the sail, not standing a chance against the strong winds the storm is throwing at them. Also, the dark colors of the overcast prevent the disciples from being able to see the shores. There is no place for the disciples to dock the boat until the storm passes by, stuck in the middle of the storm Comparing the painting to life s challenges, people can often be broken emotionally or physically, whether it may be a death of a loved one or having to face a terminal illness.
