Engagement:
noun
1. The act of engaging or the state of being engaged.
2. An appointment or arrangement: a business
engagement.
3. betrothal: They announced their engagement.
4. A pledge; an obligation or agreement: All his time
seems to be taken up with social engagements.
5. employment, or a period or post of employment,
especially in the performing arts: Her engagement at the
nightclub will last five weeks.

    Get everyone involved

       Send out weekly emails about top performing stories

       Create a list of your employees on Twitter and Facebook, and
        encourage them to post more and participate in
        conversations

       Focus on the people who want to improve

    Review what’s working

       Pick one half hour every week to review what “impact” your
        social media outreach had on pageviews, uniques, new
        visitors, etc.

       Don’t worry about not having time to go in depth. General
        notes on what’s working are better than nothing.

       Ask for feedback on what you did during the week: Peer
        review.

    Set goals

       Pick specific things to focus on each month. For example:
        More Twitter followers, more pageviews, more RTs, etc.

       Review at the end of the month: Did you reach your goal? (If
        not, why, and if you did, make it harder next month.)

       Change goals each month so you aren’t always trying to do
        the same thing.

    Share with each other

       What’s working for you?

       Who has done what you want to do? If you don’t know them
        already, contact them and ask how they’re doing it.

       Ask for help. If you’ve got a big story, you’re on the phone
        RIGHT NOW with people who can help you get the word out.

Engagement Presentation

  • 1. + Engagement Analytics What to do with all those numbers.
  • 2. Impact: noun 1. The striking of one thing against another; forceful contact; collision: The impact of the colliding cars broke the windshield. 2. An impinging: the impact of light on the eye. 3. Influence; effect: the impact of Einstein on modern physics 4. An impacting; forcible impinging: the tremendous impact of the shot. 5. The force exerted by a new idea, concept, technology, or ideology: the impact of the industrial revolution.
  • 3. Engagement: noun 1. The act of engaging or the state of being engaged. 2. An appointment or arrangement: a business engagement. 3. betrothal: They announced their engagement. 4. A pledge; an obligation or agreement: All his time seems to be taken up with social engagements. 5. employment, or a period or post of employment, especially in the performing arts: Her engagement at the nightclub will last five weeks.

  • 7. + Get everyone involved  Send out weekly emails about top performing stories  Create a list of your employees on Twitter and Facebook, and encourage them to post more and participate in conversations  Focus on the people who want to improve
  • 8. + Review what’s working  Pick one half hour every week to review what “impact” your social media outreach had on pageviews, uniques, new visitors, etc.  Don’t worry about not having time to go in depth. General notes on what’s working are better than nothing.  Ask for feedback on what you did during the week: Peer review.
  • 9. + Set goals  Pick specific things to focus on each month. For example: More Twitter followers, more pageviews, more RTs, etc.  Review at the end of the month: Did you reach your goal? (If not, why, and if you did, make it harder next month.)  Change goals each month so you aren’t always trying to do the same thing.
  • 10. + Share with each other  What’s working for you?  Who has done what you want to do? If you don’t know them already, contact them and ask how they’re doing it.  Ask for help. If you’ve got a big story, you’re on the phone RIGHT NOW with people who can help you get the word out.
