Unaware of each other's sacrifices, James sells his watch to buy Delia an expensive comb set she had wanted. They realize they had each sold their most prized possession to surprise the other with a gift, showing their deep love despite their poverty.

Manuel E. Arguilla was a writer from La Union who wrote the short story "How My Brother Leon Brought Home a Wife". The story follows Baldo as he accompanies his brother Leon and new sister-in-law Maria on their journey home. Upon arriving, they discover that their father is upset with Leon for bringing home a wife from the city without his permission. Arguilla went on to study at the University of the Philippines and secretly organized against the Japanese during their occupation before being captured and executed at age 33.

Comic Scenes of Dr. Faustus (Scene: VI & VII)
Tragedy generally emphasizes human suffering but ends with rigid finality. It also criticizes hubris, self-delusion, and complacency. However, sometimes comic scenes must be included in a tragedy with a dramatic purpose. Dr. Faustus is a tragic play with the mood of dark and serious play, but there were also comic scenes. It is very difficult to hold an audience's attention with hours of serious, deep and emotional content without also having something to lighten the mood. That’s why Marlowe added comic scenes in it. Still, many critics say that Christopher Marlowe did not even write these scenes but instead say that they were written later by other playwrights. Many critics are of the opinion that the comic elements in these scenes are low and vulgar.
The literary term for such comic interludes is known as comic relief. A tragedy is bound to create tension in the mind of the audience and if this tension is not relaxed from time to time, it creates some sort of emotional weakness in the mind of the audience. Hence, comic scenes are a necessity to ease the tension and refresh the mind. There was a pressing demand from the side of Elizabethan audience for such interludes. Hence, playwrights had to introduce such comic scenes as the producers also demanded them for a successful run of the play.
In scene VI and VII, we find only three comic scenes. Science, the beginning of Scene VI, Faustus is alone in his study. Then, Mephistophilis appears and a bond is signed with the blood of Faustus. Mephistophilis gives Faustus a book of magic which contains all the knowledge that Faustus. After that Lucifer orders seven deadly sins (pride, covetousness, wrath, envy, gluttony, sloth and Lechery) to entertain Faustus. Faustus questions each of the seven sins who describe themselves. This situation provides comic relief to the audiences. This scene all along is in a serious tone. But Marlowe is converted the serious scene to comic scene.
At the end of scene VI, Dick and Robin once again provide comic relief. Robin has stolen one of Faustus’ conjuring books and wants to make all the girls in the village dance for him. He also wants to use the book to get drunk. Dick and Robin have no connection with the main theme of the play. But they have importance in this play.
Scene VI, prepares us for Faustus' entry into the comic world by telling us to observe him and Mephistophilis as they stand invisible in the court of the Pope. The Pope is mocked and struck on the head, food is snatched from his hands, eating utensils and serving vessels are dashed to the floor. Bewildered and desperately using his occult powers to save himself from the demon in his presence, the Pope stands duped, busily making the sign of the cross, lacking even the wit of Robin. This scene culminates in the mock incantation of the Friars as they; attempt to appease the ghost "crept out of Purgatory."

René descartes
Rene Descartes was a 17th century French philosopher, mathematician, and scientist. He is known as the "Father of Modern Philosophy" and a key figure of the Scientific Revolution. Descartes developed rationalism and the method of systematic doubt. He argued that the only certain knowledge is "I think, therefore I am" and that existence can be inferred from clear and distinct ideas, such as the idea of God. Descartes also proposed mind-body dualism and made important contributions to mathematics and science.

Cost cutting is a business strategy used to reduce costs and increase efficiency and profitability. John Bunyan's The Pilgrim's Progress uses allegory to represent a Christian's spiritual journey. Along the way, they encounter obstacles that symbolize religious and moral concepts such as Mr. Worldly Wiseman representing worldly temptation, Doubting Castle representing despair, and Vanity Fair representing sinful pleasures. The story conveys the message that through perseverance and faith, one can overcome life's difficulties and attain salvation.

Henry viii – James i
Henry VIII ruled England from 1509 to 1547. He had six wives and broke with the Catholic Church in 1534 over his divorce from Catherine of Aragon. His son, Edward VI, became King at age 9 upon Henry's death in 1547. Edward's reign was marked by Protestant reforms but much of his rule was conducted through regents due to his young age. He attempted to exclude his Catholic half-sisters Mary and Elizabeth from the succession, instead naming Lady Jane Grey as his heir, but Mary assumed the throne after his death at age 15 in 1553.

To address these downsides, we must increase knowledge, teach wise usage of technology, and work together to prepare children for responsible technology use.

English plosives are distinguished by place of articulation (bilabial, lingua-alveolar, lingua-velar), voicing (voiced or voiceless), aspiration of initial sounds, and degree of muscular force in production.

- 4. THEME OF THE STORY The theme of this story is anyone can’t escape death. A servant is thought that he will escape from death, but he doesn’t know, death had an appointment with him in Samarra.
- 5. CHARACTERS OF THE STORY In this story there are three characters. The Merchant The Servant A Woman
- 6. PLOT OF THE STORY The Appointment in Samarra is a short story about a merchant’s servant who tries to avoid his appointment with Death. In the story the servant meets with Death at Baghdad then he lends a horse from the merchant and flees to Samarra. He is thought that he will escape from death, but he doesn’t know, death had an appointment with him in Samarra.
- 7. RHETORIC OF THE STORY Personification: In this story the writer represents “death” as a human and a woman. And at end of the story the merchant made a conversation with death. In this story “death” is a lifeless idea but it represents a human. So, it is a cause of personification. Alliteration: The consonant sound “t” (trembling, and tells) and “s” (start of surprise) repeats about two times in this story. So, it is a cause of alliteration.
- 8. RHETORIC OF THE STORY Irony: In the story the servant meets with Death at Baghdad then he lends a horse from the merchant and flees to Samarra. The servant thought that he will escape from death, but he doesn’t know, death had an appointment with him in Samarra. This situation actually means opposite of its surface meaning. So, it is a cause of irony. Symbol: In this story “a woman” refers Death. So, it is cause of symbol.

- 10. OWN COMMENT If death is destined to happen it will happen; you can’t run from your destiny.
