5. Sound Energy
Sound results from the vibration of
particles in a solid, liquid, or gas.
If there is no air or other substance (a
vacuum) sound will not occur.
6. Chemical Energy
Energy that is stored in the chemical
composition of matter.
Examples: wood or gasoline burning
7. Thermal Energy
Thermal energy comes from the movement
of atoms and molecules in matter.
Thermal energy is generated and measured
by heat of any kind.
8. Electromagnetic Energy
Electromagnetic energy is the energy that
comes from electromagnetic radiation
This radiation is composed of waves, such
as radio waves and visible light
Electromagnetic was CAN travel in empty
space (vacuum)
9. Nuclear Energy
Nuclear energy is simply a term describing any
energy associated with atomic reactions.
Naturally: Some nuclear energy is produced
naturally. For example, the Sun and other stars
make heat and light by nuclear reactions.
Man-Made: Nuclear energy can be man-made
too. Machines called nuclear reactors, parts of
nuclear power plants, provide electricity for many
cities.
