What is alternative energy
There are many alternative energy resources that can be developed instead of relying solely on fossil fuels. These include wind power generated from wind turbines, solar energy from solar cells, ocean wave and tidal power, hydroelectric from dams and smaller localized systems, geothermal energy from below the earth's surface, waste gases from dumps and pollutants, ethanol from various plants, biodiesel from plant oils, and nuclear fission in atomic energy plants. While each has limitations, significant research is being done to improve technologies and make these alternatives more economical and practical on a larger scale.

To optimize system efficiency, a simple algorithm is developed for system sizing. Total cost of unit is calculated using life cycle cost analysis and payback period.
