THE ENDOCRINE SYSTEM
The glands are situated at the top of the kidneys. They are in a triangular shape.   They are surrounded by an adipose capsule and renal fascia. In humans, the adrenal glands are found at the level of the 12th thoracic vertebra. Each adrenal gland is separated into two distinct structures, the adrenal cortex and medulla, both of which produce hormones. THE GLANDS
The  pancreas is a gland organ in the digestive and endocrine system of vertebrates Is is used to produce insulin, wich controls the amount of sugar in the bloodstream. The part of the pancreas with endocrine function is made up of approximately a million cells. The pancreas has an exocrine gland to help the digestive process. It secretes a pancreatic juice that passes to the small intestine. THE PANCREAS
Ovaries are the female gonads– usually in pairs . They produce eggs (reproductive system) and secrete the female hormones (endocrine system) estrogen and progesterone Ovaries are oval shaped. The ovaries are located in both sides , right and left,of the lateral wall of the pelvis in a place called the ovarian fossa. THE OVARIES
The testes are also called male gonads. They secrete hormones called androgens , the most important of which is testosterone. Testes are components of both the reproductive system and the endocrine system. The functions of the testes are to produce sperm. THE TESTES
The  pituitary gland is the main endocrine gland .It consists of two areas and r egulates the activity of the thyroid, adrenals, and reproductive glands. It secretes some hormones: growth hormone, prolactin, thyrotropin, corticotropin,…The pituitary also secretes endorphins , chemicals that act on the nervous system and reduce feelings of pain. The pituitary fossa, where this gland sits, is situated in the base of the brain. pituitary glands
The thyroid gland produces the thyroid hormones thyroxine and triiodothyronine . These hormones control how cells burn fuels from food to produce energy. The thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped organ and it consists of two cone-like lobes or wings, lobus dexter and lobus sinister connected via the isthmus. The organ is situated on the anterior side of the neck, lying against and around the larynx and trachea, reaching posteriorly the oesophagus and carotid sheath. THE THYROID
