2. Barriers to Entry and Exit (Symbian)
Market entry and exit constitute major business strategy decisions reflecting a strategic initiative on
the part of a firm to develop, or reshape, its product or market positioning
Barriers to entry are obstacles in the way of firms attempting to enter a particular market, which
may operate to give established firms particular advantage over investment. They are factors that
allow incumbent firms to earn positive economic profits, while making it unprofitable for new
comers to enter the industry. Barriers to entry may be structural or strategic. Structural entry barriers
result when the incumbent has natural costs or marketing advantages or benefits from favorable
regulations. Strategic entry barriers result when the incumbent ... Show more content on

In this case, even though Microsoft has been very familiar with what the Symbian OS is trying to
offer, giving mobile phones the ability to function like that of a personal computer, including e
mail, web browsing, electronic messaging and digital photography, it would be costly for them to
develop their windows mobile software in that direction with the bulk of the mobile phone
manufacturing market share in the hands of the companies using the Symbian OS as a base for
their products.
This phenomena, however, was only seen for a short period of time as Microsoft was both huge in
both technological advances and financial capabilities. With WM6, they successfully integrated into
the mobile phone market, incorporating touch screen interface for their operating systems and
working with major business phone manufacturers such as HTC and LG. As such, Microsoft hopes
that the industry would develop the way they did for the computing industry.
Thus far, we do not really see a shift in that arena, with Symbian having tied up virtually the entire
market, and also the 3 3.5G era in its infant stage, only time will be witness to whether the cellular
market moves in the same direction. o Marketing Advantages in incumbency
As mentioned above, major mobile phone manufacturers have come together, developing the
Symbian OS as a barrier to entry to Microsoft. In that sense, with the major companies holding bulk
of the market share, they stand to gain many

3. A Concise History Of Hong Kong
A Concise History Of Hong Kong was a prequel to one of the most fascinating places I have ever
traveled to. Going through history class, and growing up, I had heard many stories of Hong
Kong, China, Britain, and Japan, but I never realized how intertwined they truly were and how
their stories were really told. John Carroll did a remarkable job setting the scene for what Hong
Kongwas, where they had been, and how they made it through all of it and came out with their own
identity.
Hong Kong is a bustling cosmopolitan city with many distinct features that separate it from a
traditional Chinese territory. Hong Kong or the Fragrant Harbor is on the southernmost coast,

In reality, the picture in my head could not have been more wrong.
Just after arrival on January 2, 2016, we got to really experience the gigantic proportion of the
Hong Kong airport as compared to our little hub in Tulsa. After our time in the airport, we finally
got on our journey to Kowloon Peninsula to our hotel. The MTR ride was very enlightening,
and I remember feeling like a child in awe and merriment at all the fantastic sites that were
before my eyes. I took a deep breath and promised myself that regardless of what happened and
no matter what I would not ruin my trip with any negative thoughts. Professor Weaver reinforced
this when he said, you do not have to like it, but I encourage you to try it, and no whining . I was
going to try and replay everything that I had read and researched prior to the trip and see if I
could remember the significance of the sites. Making my top ten list was a great way of making
us choose what we felt was important for our journey and then going back and marking them off
one by one.
Sunday, January 3, 2016, we were up early after a very long day of travel and a short night s
sleep. We gathered as a group and ventured to C3 church Hong Kong. We met a phenomenal
woman, Ming who was delightful from the first smile and handshake we received. Ming was a
positive and a very devoted follower of God. Her Christianity spewed from her pores, but she was

4. The Effects Of Obesity On The American Population
Obesity has substantially increased in the American population, affecting both adults and
children. According to the Mayo Clinic, the definition of obesity is defined as a condition of
increased body weight that is caused by an excessive accumulation of fat. Many factors
contribute to weight gain such as the two important ones, poor diet and physical inactivity. As
people are exposed to high fat foods and have very low physical activity, it s so easy for that
person to become overweight or obese. As in today s society children tend to overeat, many
changes in a child s life are the reason why there is an increase in overeating. The place where
children should be fed healthy and should influence them to eat healthy is actually where the
problem starts. School cafeterias have been known to serve food with large fat content and low
nutrition. School cafeterias even supply students with soda and candy machines (Kempster, 2004).
According to a study done by King et al. (1999) has shown that fruits and raw vegetables given in
school cafeterias has decreased substantially. Instead they provide unhealthy meals for these
children like, pizza, tater tots, and many other numerous high level fat foods. At school children
should have the access to eat healthy, however they are exposed to fast food choices everyday,
making it difficult to support healthy eating (Kuntzman, 2004). The lack of physical activity is
another major factor in the cause of childhood obesity. Due to the increase

5. Deinstitutionalization Research
One century prior, government mental institutions prevented harmful interactions between the
mentally ill and the public through involuntary commitment and medication; deinstitutionalization
the closing down facilities and releasing of patients moved many patients in need of care onto the
streets, but we desperately need these facilities. Dr. Fuller E. Torrey, founder of the Treatment
Advocacy Center, which works to eliminate barriers for mental illness treatment, concluded that
extensive research on the history of deinstitutionalization by various individuals and organizations
have shown increase in jail population inversely related to the population of psychiatric institutions;
as patients decreased, prisoners increase ( The Release of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One way to administer forced medication is through the AOT (Assisted Outpatient Treatment)
program. Information of this program from the Treatment Advocacy Center s webpage
demonstrates [reduced] risks of hospitalization, arrest, incarceration, crime, victimization, and
violence. AOT also increases treatment adherence and eases the strain placed on family members
or other primary caregivers ( Assisted Outpatient Treatment Laws ). This treatment is given by a
judge and allows the mentally ill individuals to live in communities where workers help to make
sure they take their medication and so on. Further studies by Duke University, Columbia University,
and New York State, reports have shown a 36 percent reduction in violence, 51 percent increase in
good service engagement, 71 percent voluntary treatment maintenance, and other improvements
thanks to AOT ( Assisted Outpatient Treatment Laws ). While patients may be forced into the
program to start with, as this program progresses for individuals, forced medication has seen a
reduction because patients gradually become aware of their medical situation. In fact, many
patients voluntarily remain in the program after their required term set by a judge. This also
removes any possibilities for neglect created by family members, who are often the primary

7. Peaceful Resistance Thesis
Peaceful resistance is a very controversial issue in this day in age. Many Americans, if asked,
probably have many varying views and opinions on what peaceful resistance is. For some it could
be marching down the streets with signs, while for others its shouting their rights without causing
any violence. Now to me, peaceful resistance is when one or multiples stand for what they deem
right or wrong without causing any harm to others. To me this serves as a positive because not
only does it allow for people to be heard, but also for others to listen. When a peaceful protesttakes
place often enough it is shown through the internet, social media, television, news, etc. At some
point everyone will hear about it and based on what they see they... Show more content on

Resistance can cause tension and division between people, but peaceful resistance is a pathway for
those to express themselves without violence. In all honesty I think the positives trump the
negatives because in the end they are fighting for what they want and what they should rightfully
have. Isn t that what America has been built off of? The fight for what we want and what we know
is right, while proving that is so. And for those who question What has happened to us? Why is it
necessary, at this moment, in this forum to repeat what should be axiomatic and accepted? (Civil
Disobedience: A Threat o Our Society) clearly have never faced injustice from those around them
or the government. It s necessary because these people have been treated unfairly and should not
let what their ancestors fought for to go to waste. People need to get out of their own heads and
realize that injustice still exists, inequality still exists, the government has too much say in what
happens in our lives and that is something not many see everyday. For example, my town is very
safe and isolated. I ve grown up never having seen violence, social prejudice, or anything unfair,
which for a child is great for protection, but growing up it made me and many around me ignorant
to the world and what really went down around our small bubble. I would watch the news and hear

8. The Effects of Traumatic Brain Injury Essay
I. Introduction The focus of this study was to examine the effects of traumatic brain injury (TBI) in
children and adolescents on prospective memory. The purpose of the study was to add to the scant
research on the effects of TBI on prospective memory in children and adolescents. The authors were
also interested in adding support to the existing theory that the prefrontal areas of the brainmeditate
prospective memory. (Ward et al., 2005) The authors were, for the purposes of this study, assuming
that the brain s prefrontal regions are involved in prospective memory. The authors theorized that
younger children, with or without TBI, whose prefrontal regions are not fully developed, should
perform poorly on prospective tasks. It was also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The participants responded by pressing a green key for a response to a word, or a red key for a
nonword. The lower level demand version of the task used longer words, and the higher level
version used shorter words. The participants were also shown italic letters, 12 total, within some
of the words and non words presented to them, which are the prospective memory cues.
Participants were told to press the 6th key, in a row of grey keys, when they saw an italic letter
appear. The participants were also tested with the following tasks to observe executive
functioning capabilities: Self Ordered Pointing Task (SOPT), Stroop Color Word Inference Task,
and Tower of London (TOL). Responses were collected and data was created on each of the four
groups (children and adolescents with and without TBI), showing correct responses for both the
high and low cognitive demand levels of the task. The results of the study showed several
outcomes. First, that in both groups lexical decision accuracies were higher in low demand
cognitive conditions than in the high conditions. Overall, those with TBI had lower overall
prospective memory scores than the participants in the control groups. In addition to this,
adolescents performed better than the children. However, as the cognitive demand of the tasks
increased, there was a larger gap in performance between

9. Siddhartha Vs Buddha
Of the three sages the one that I liked the best would be Siddhartha Gautama, also known as the
Buddha. The reason I favor him is because of the circumstances of his journey. He was born into
the wealthy and purposely degraded himself as a humble man, with only the minimum to
survive to reach his state of enlightenment also known as the nirvana; a state of bliss, and pure
consciousness. The nirvana is a state of being in which I believe is the key to happiness, a
mindset that must be found on your own. Just as the Buddha, I hope to be able to find my own
consolatory state of nirvana one day. My least favorite would be Confucius. I tend to disagree with
his production and point of view of political harmony, as he believed that social order,

10. Persuasive Speech On Endanger Of Animals
Thank you, thank you for polluting the air, clogging the oceans, destroying forests and
contaminating our ecosystems. We may be able to control where pollution and waste go, but
animals well they can t. God created so many animals and He gave us authority over these
creatures of the earth and now look what we have done.
Well, you see thanks to humans, animals are now dying out at an alarming rate. Approximately
0.01 0.1 % of all species go extinct every year. According to the UN Environment Programme that
would be estimated around 150 200 plants, insects, birds, and mammals, a day. Not to mention
nearly 20,000 plants and animals are at risk of extinction. Therefore Continuation of global
warming, deforestation, polluting, overfishing and other forms of endangerment to animals may
lead to a mass extinction. However, unlike natural mass extinctions like volcanic eruptions and
climate shifts, loss of species is 1,000 10,000 times higher than the natural extinction rate and this
current crisis is almost entirely by us. For example, the Eretmochelys Imbricata or the Hawksbill
Turtle is one of the many endangered animals. The main reason why this beautiful creature is
critically endangered is because of wildlife trade. Wildlife trade is when people hunt animals for
their resources, such as turtle shells, animal furs, rhino horns, and elephant ivory. They sell them as
jewellery, clothes and other items. Many other animals besides the Hawksbill turtle is also
threatened by wildlife trade like the Amur Leopard and the Javan Rhino. Hey! what about bycatch?
Whenever there is fishing there is bycatch. Bycatch is the unintended capture of a non targeted
species such as marine turtles, seabirds, and dolphins. Usually, the creature gets entangled in the
fishing net or swallows a fishing hook and of course, the result is death. Yup, there are definitely a
lot of ways for these animals to go extinct.
Consequently, we have already talked about what animals are endangered and why they are, so let
s talk about Red Listing. And after we have talked about that we shall dive into the topic of what
would happen if all the animals went extinct. Let us start with Red Listing, The IUCN Red List of

11. Evaluation Of The Game On Kids Learning Company
Discussion Game On! Learning company finds the internet a wealth for communication that can
aid training of the employees to prepare them in their preferred industry. Austin s passion for
games opened a vast opportunity to augment the skills of the people in a creative way. He
delivered his vision that games can be an antidote to unmotivated employees. An American retail
chain said that the training program drove them to think more strategically (Walgreens, 2013). One
employee from a telecommunications company shared that the game helped him to have a better
retention of skills in a fun and addictive way (Centurylink, n.d.). These testimonials can be
supported by Game Theory and Communication. It suggests that incorporating games into
interactions may develop the competitiveness of a player. It can enforce a person to have a
successful goal index and to obtain victory over other rivals of the same field or industry. Some
also iterate that winning a competition may surpass and excel the success margin of an individual
performance, and it can also improve one s self esteem. It also states that the game theoretical
model for communication envelopes better cooperation of people for cumulative development,
especially in a team (Allott, 2006). The feedback from the customers demonstrates that game based
learning has a great opportunity to be an effective instructional tool in a professional work
environment. Marketing and promotion are the key tools to introduce the Game On!

12. Essay about Past Political Controversies
Leaders are constantly making decisions that are based on their values and directly affect their
constituents. Some of those decisions are insignificant, and only affect people in the short term.
Some are bigger and determine the long term fate of society; and others go even further as to
determine who those leaders are as people and how they will leave society for future generations
(Joseph, 2001). Socrates raised the question, What is a virtuous man, and what is a virtuous
society? In observing the leadershipthat will ultimately decide the future for our society, I believe
we must ponder the same question. If ethics is the basis of politics, as many people believe to be
true, the two should be tied more closely together. Ethical... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It is questionable whether we, the voters, actually elect leaders when we vote for our country s
leaders. Presidential campaigns, for example, can have candidates that are either mediocre or
very bland, or candidates that are extremely fake and superficial. It is uncertain whether we know
each candidate s true personality or beliefs when we place our votes on Election Day. These
elected political figures may be seen as leaders in the eyes of their constituents, but that does not
mean that they are true or good leaders. Many natural leaders are successful in convincing their
followers to engage in negative activities or believe harmful ideas. Bill Clinton, for example, was
seen as a natural born leader throughout his schooling career, yet his leadership qualities while
serving as President led him to be very corrupt and cause discourse and scandal. Likewise, many
political figures may appear to be leaders to the public eye, but may not be ethical in their
leadership, therefore being detrimental to their constituents instead of beneficial (Anderson,
2000). Alfred Grazia, a political author, identifies political leaders as, any occupant of an
established political position or as any person, in or out of such a position, whose political activity
has more influence upon a group s behavior than has the activity of the average member. Since
political leaders hold more influence on the behavior of a group, they hold the power to steer them

13. The Insatiable Need To Know
The Insatiable Need to Know
Greed is a common motive for villains in history and legend. The driving force behind evil in our
enemies as well as ourselves. When looking at the movies Blade Runner and Alien, those causing
the problems the protagonists face, have an insatiable need to know, and it blinds them from
respect for life with horrible consequences. These motives for greed to know, are the cause of both
film s monsters and how they are shown to affect the worlds created to contain Scott s stories.
In the film Alien, the antagonist is the Company. This company sends the Nostromo and her
crew in harm s way for knowledge unknown. The ship itself, regardless of its contrast to current
tech, seems run down and almost ready for the scrap yards. This is shown by the leaking areas,
the large amount of repairing going on, and the overall used look of the ships terminals. It gives
us a visual insight into the world we don t see as a darker place to live in.
Apart from the ship, there is also Ash as an example of the Company s disregard for life towards
the general society. This type of sophisticated android, in place of the crew, would have been
able to complete this mission more efficiently but Ash is only sent along to make sure that the
mission is complete. This is at all costs, regardless of loss of life. Had they sent a small team of
android, with a couple of specialist to monitor the work from a distance would have easily
prevented the danger. The Alien is a

Although both Avis and Budget were part of Cendant by the end of the year 2002 they operate

friendly rental car company while Budget tries to own the leisure segment. The two brands
together operate over 6,000 outlets in the Americas, Australia, New Zealand and the Caribbean.
Each rental car company maintains separate advertising campaigns, websites and counters,
while combining some back office operations to reduce costs. Hertz was a wholly owned
subsidiary of the Ford Motor Company until it was sold in September 2005 to a private equity
firm for $15 billion. Hertz dominates the airport rental car market, operating approximately 350
sites in the United States. The company offers customers high quality vehicles and premium

Avis to be a key competitor. Hertz offers its customers several key features including the low cost

15. The Importance Of Political Socialization
The main task of political socialization is to shape an individual s political orientation, attitudes,
and behaviors so that they fit into a particular political system (Lee Zhan, 1991). Existing
literature assumes one s most important political attitudes are shaped relatively early in life, and
that they remain stable in subsequent phases of life (Quintelier Hooghe, 2011). As political
participation is a habit shaped early in life (Valentino, Gregorowicz Groenendyk, 2009; Aldrich,
Montgomery, Wood, 2011), political socialization should be studied at the phase in which it
develops, namely adolescence (Youniss Yates, 1997; Campbell, 2006). Flanagan (2004) and others

However, these political socialization studies, most of which were conducted in North America
and Europe, have difficulty accounting for Marxist ideology s decreased presence in China s
basic education, despite its enhanced presence at the college level in recent years, and do not
explain why China has not stressed political socialization at an early age. Moreover, due to China s
massification of higher education since the 2000s, the divide between basic education s and higher
education s approaches to political education has sharpened. Therefore, this study aims to determine
how the difference in how Marxist political economy is taught in basic and higher education in
China impacts university students political education learning. This article first reviews the
literature on political education in basic education and higher education in China, especially the
divide in approaches to Marxist ideology education, and describes the design and implementation of
the study. The major patterns of its findings are presented next, after which some possible
explanations for these patterns are proposed, specifically in terms of: the importance of political
education in the earlier stages of life; the role of formal and informal university political education
in shaping students positive attitudes toward Marxist political economy and informing their
political participation;

17. Why Is Lincoln s Assassination Justified
On April 14th, 1865, John Wilkes Booth kidnaped and assassinated Abraham Lincoln. It was a
mournful day for individuals of the U.S . Meanwhile, Booth wanted to protect the South against the
Union. He had co conspirators by his side who attempted to kidnap the president several times but
ended in failure. Many think Booth should have done something different to change Lincoln s idea
of abolishing slavery. Although John Wilkes Booth did something wrong for the right reason, it
will never be justified because there is always a different alternative.
Being motivated to do harsh actions leads to jealousy, which develops a person to do anything for
their own satisfaction. Considering the fact, Booth compares himself to Brutus which was the
Roman statesman who murdered Julius Caesar. Brutus and his fellow Roman senators feared
Caesar wanted to become the dictator of the republic. In the article, Last Diary Entry of John

Dorian s feelings towards Sybil were insincere. Dorian pursues her out of the sake of curiosity

beauty is the most important aspect in life. One of the sole reasons he is drawn to Sybil is
because of her exceptional beauty and her artistic talents. As a result, this leads to Dorian s
feelings for Sybil to be misplaced. He does not know anything about her yet due to his yearning for

20. Pros And Cons Of Banning The Hijab
Should the headscarf be banned?
Recently there has been a push towards banning religious symbolism from the media, especially
the hijab. The hijab is a veil that Muslim women wear around their heads to cover their hair and
their bosoms; it symbolizes faith and modesty. Many people fear or in some cases feel bad for
people who wear the headscarf including niqabs and burqas because they are uneducated and/or
ignorant of Islamic teachings which lead them to create inaccurate assumptions and accusations on
the matter. Most may believe banning the head scarf will benefit the community in ways that they
believe will make people feel more comfortable and they also believe that it will benefit the
women who wear the hijab because of the belief that Muslim women who wear the headscarf are
oppressed, however, banning the head scarf would lead to discrimination, the contradiction of
Canadian values, and go against the religious beliefs of Muslims.
Contrary to the popular argument that the banning of religious symbols, particularly the hijab
will stop discrimination since everyone will be the same, it actually will deteriorate.
discrimination is not caused by the differences, it is caused by ignorance. For instance, after
banning the hijab in France and parts of Europe hate speech affecting ethnic and religious
minorities [... rose, along with] hate crimes targeting Muslims (El Aabedy. How does the EU
hijab ruling affect Muslim women? ). This creates an unsafe environment for Muslims and their
families because they are not allowed to continue their religious practices if they want to be
treated equally and given more job opportunities. Although, feminism is strongly fought for in
most places the fight should be for the rights of all women instead of only women choosing to
wear less, not for women choosing to wear more, (Warda El Kaddouri qtd. El Aabedy). The way
that one chooses to dress should not determine their value as a human. In other cases the ruling
allows private businesses in Europe [to] forbid Muslim women [employees] from wearing
headscarves if the ban is part of a policy of neutrality within the company and not a sign of
prejudice against a particular religion, ( High European Union court rules

21. Benefits Of Physical Recreation
In the United States of America, early development of documented recreation began in the late late
nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Vast amounts of physical recreation include cycling,
hiking, participating in a dance class, basketball, etc. Controversially, recreation has no documented
definition due to the varying meaning among individuals. Recreation, stemming from the Latin
form recreation, translates to restoration to health. Recreation can be generally considered activity
that people engage in during their free time in a form of enjoyment. Physical recreation is the same
concept, differing only in the form a physical activity. The restoration from physical recreation can
range from feelings of time distortion, an escape, personal development, personal renewal, a
psychological experience in naturel, etc. This restoration often restores or recreates an individual
and is generally mentally and physically up building (Torkildsen, 2009). Physical recreation
provides multiple physical and mental benefits.
Physical recreation has multiple benefits, including an increase in life expectancy. About one in
every three U.S. adults or 30.4 percent, do not engage in leisure time physical activity. (AHA) This
is an estimated 7 in 10 American adults. (Schoenborn, 2002, April 7). (California) A sedentary
lifestyle, and in most cases along with imbalanced nutrition, can lead to varying health danger. The

also in The Pardoner s Tales , we can see that there are a lot of repeat word that represent the
Pardoner itself and the church believe. The Pardoner say the word gluttony and greed many
times, he tells that they are bad but the way he act and speech are all ironic. Here are some quote
from the tale, O gluttony, so full of cursedness! O first cause of our trial and tribulation, Origin

This quote, the Pardoner all blabbing about the gluttony are very bad and the cause of all bad

1. Conceptual database design:
It is a process of constructing a data model for each view of the real world problem which is
independent of physical considerations. This stage involves assessing the informational needs of an
organization so that a database can be designed to meet those needs.
This step involves:
Constructing the ER Model
Checking the model for redundancy
Validating the model against user transactions to ensure all the scenarios are supported
ER Modelling:
This is a pictorial representation of the real world problem in terms of entities (which have

Basically, the EHR conceptual informational model displays an overall high level view of the
relationship between the data concepts found in the HER (Canadian Institute for Health
Information [CIHI, 2011]).
This diagram illustrates the major concepts in the EHR and does not reveal all details. Although
the concepts in the diagram are named in the singular, they represent multiple occurrences and are

25. Descartes Proof That The Mind And The Body
Descartes proof that the Mind and the Body are distinct substances is as follows, First Descartes
asserts that everything that can be clearly and distinctly understood is within the ability to be
created by God as to correspond identically with the way that Descartes understand things in the
world. It follows from this assertion that because Descartes is able to clearly and distinctly
understand one thing apart from one another is enough to make them noticeably different in
substance. Descartes follows this with the notion of the mind, saying that because one is able to
possess a clear and distinct understanding of their self as a distinct and separate substance, which is
not extended into the environment and handles all of the logical thinking. He continues to say that
he possesses a clear and distinct understanding of the body as an extended and unthinking. He
finishes with the conclusion that this demonstrates that the body and the mind are actually distinct
form one another.
By saying that they are distinct substances, in Descartes overall argument, means that the mind and
the body are composed primarily of two separate and unique substances and that they are unable to
share properties such as that the body is the corporeal substance that experiences the sensations of
the world, or in other words the body s substance is that of feeling. The mind is an ethereal
substance that is responsible for reason and rationality. They are distinct in that their existence is

This essay will attempt to answer the question To what extent is Austria Hungary at fault for
causing the start of World War One? This topic is significant due to the ongoing debate about
how WWI started and because of the debt some countries only recently, have paid off. In 1914,
the country to declare the first war was Austria Hungary s(AH) declaration of war on Serbia.
Following this was Serbia s ally, Russia, who mobilized its troops in preparation, and Germany
soon after declaring war on the russians. As the snowball effect came into place, countries such as
France, the United Kingdom and Belgium followed in declaring different wars amongst each other.
This resulted in the start of World War I
. It began in 1914 one of the greatest wars in all of history,
ending almost five years after in November of 1918. The causes of WWI, will continuously spark
debates between people, as there were so many countries involved. This essay will argue that

Diversity is no new thing in the workplace. Many different factors account for this circumstance
in the business arena. Gender, race and ethnicity, and age are a few of the major factors that
create diversity within the workplace. The latter, age, is one of the more understated and
disregarded issue of diversity. But over time, differences in age in the workplace has been
growing more and more, generating conflicts that could not be ignored any longer. The problem of
age gaps in the workplace is caused by having multiple generations in one workplace. Most see the
age gaps in the workplace as an inherent thing and thus, not something to cope with instead of

29. China s Struggle For Status
Chinese international relations and historian Yong Deng s latest novel, China s Struggle for
Status, analyzes China s rise in power and it s future trajectory according to his research. The
novel was released during what many consider the peak of China s growth, or at least when the
world was witnessing the prosperity of their country, the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The novel strays
away from the status quo of analyzing China s rise, and rather focuses more on the reasons behind
why China would want to become the world s top super power and its motives for control, if any.
The book explores China s fixation with status, and why it appears they try so hard to attain it.
Rather than simply writing about the struggle for power China has been experiencing and
overloading the reader with statistics, Deng took a different approach. He emphasizes the major
part that ideals such as reputation and status play in the political system and how they drive
governments to want to achieve these both, in this case China. Deng explores how China has
adapted its government and political system to successfully coexist with foreign countries,
particularly after the Cold War. The novel focuses on about six areas of concern, including a chapter
discussing international human rights and how China s policy in comparison to them. It goes
without saying that this is a major area of concern for China, as they have been heavily scrutinized
for it, but Deng also mentions the improvements that the Chinese

Gaius Octavius, who later became known as Augustus, was part of the Second Triumvirate along
with Antony and Lepidus. Caesar s assassination had instigated multiple civil wars caused by
disagreements between aristocrats fighting for power. Augustus rose to power during that period of
war and chaos. When Augustusemerged, he was readily accepted because the Romans were tired
of all of the power struggles and also because Augustus did not impose himself on the Romans.
Under Augustus rule, Rome entered the Pax Romana, which was a period of peace that lasted for
200 years. He was a kind ruler and did not act like a tyrant. During Augustus reign, improvements

This was mostly because of all his achievements for the empire. He divided Rome into fourteen
districts, each with an administrator elected by the locals, to make the empire easier to manage,
thus solving Rome s previous expansion problem. After the death of Caesar, the number of senators
had increased greatly. Many of them were unworthy and had gotten the position through bribery. In
order to lower the number of senators, Augustus instructed each member to nominate one another
and then chose personally from that list of names. In doing this, Augustus was able to cut the
number of senators from 1000 to 600. This raised the standards of being a senator and lowered the
chance of corruption. Furthermore, Augustus extended the borders of the empire in the Iberian
Peninsula, Gaul, Germany, Middle East and Asia Minor. He created alliances with other kingdoms
that wanted to avoid war with the Romans. Augustus also restored and erected great public
buildings, temples, theatres, bathhouses, arches and his own mausoleum. He repaired roads and
aqueducts using both his own money and war spoils. Augustus even boasted that he: found Rome
built of bricks; I leave her clothed in marble. Architecture during his time was an example of his
central policy: the concept of building new and better things on the ruins of the past. In the end,
Augustus satisfied the Romans by exceeding the

Bielschowsky Stain Similar to the Golgi stain, the Bielschowsky stain uses a silver compound,
silver nitrate, as well as ammonium hydroxide to cause silver ions to adhere to the membranes
of nervous tissue. This technique is especially useful in when looking and neurofibrillary tangles
and senile plaque. When dyed, the color of the samples can vary depending on the amount of
silver that binds to particular parts of the specimen. The Bielschowsky stain stains the
neurofibrillary tangles, axons, and plaques a dark brown or black while the background remains
yellow. Due to its ability to stain senile plaques, the stain is commonly used to look at tissues
diseased with Alzheimer s disease. Hematoxylin and Eosin Stain (H E) Indicated by its name, this
method of hystogical staining involves two dyes. The first of which is Hematoxylin. As a basic
dye, hematoxylin works as an acidophilic substance. Because of this, it stains nucleic acids blue and
purple. Thus, with this stain the nuclei of cells are stained blue. The second dye, eosin, is
basophilic. Any basic or negatively charged structures, like proteins with cationic amino acid group,

To be effective, incentive pay should boost the kinds of behavior that are most needed, and
employees must believe they have the aptitude to encounter the performance standards. Employees
must value and appreciate the rewards, and believe the pay plan is fair. Organizations can link
incentive pay to individual performance, revenues, or other methods of success. They select
incentives based on their budgets, anticipated influence on performance, and fit with the

Merit pay system, and Gainsharing methods for incentive pay
Merit pay is a system associating pay increases to ratings and evaluations on performance
assessments. This system gives the biggest pay increases to the best performers and to those
whose pay is comparatively low for their occupation. Organizations review merit upsurge grids in
fluctuating economic and financial circumstances. In companies that give yearly merit increases
without a different raise for increases in cost of living, merit pay ends up serving as a cost of
living adjustment and creates a sense of entitlement on the part of employees, with even low
performers expecting them ((Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, Wright pg. 375 ) .

The new Queen is being carried by hereditary chiefs, which suggests chiefdom is in place and is

suggests that a very complex and highly organized society was in place. The mounds themselves
had to be created by following a complex method. It is the largest of its kind and likely required
many people to construct. That would also require great organization. Inside these mounds, goods
have been found that suggest a trade market. These are all traits of a complex society. Concerning
these mounds, scientists made some mistakes back in 1848 when examining them. At first, they

The Battle of Midway was a huge success in American code breaking and proving that the use of
the aircraft carrier would definitely be a vital resource in the Pacific Theater ( Battle of Midway ).
Three months later the Americans pressed forward setting their eyes on a near Australia called
Guadalcanal. This battle would be the first allied offensive on the Empire of Japan. On 7 August
1942 American forces landed on the islands of Guadalcanal, Tulagi, and Florida in the southern
Solomon Islands with the objective of denying their use by the Japanese to threaten the supply
and communication routes between the US, Australia, and New Zealand. The Allies also intended
to use Guadalcanal and Tulagi as bases to support a campaign to eventually capture or neutralize
the major Japanese base at Rabal on New Britain ( Battle of Guadalcanal ). Powerful United States
naval forces had supported the landings. Surprised by the Allied offensive, the Japanese made
several attempts between August and November 1942 to retake Henderson Field. Three major land
battles, seven large naval battles, and continual, almost daily aerial battles culminated in the
decisive Naval Battle of Guadalcanal in early November 1942, in which the last

40. Shooting Free Throw
Shooting Free Throws.
Shooting free throws should be the easiest thing about basketball, but some people just cannot get
the hang of it. It seems to be easy because of the word free , and there is no defence. You are
unguarded, straight in front of the basket, and only 15 feet away. Free throws haunt players at
every level of basketball. A free throw is only worth one point when made, but one point can win or
lose you the game. I will be telling you the perfect form and technique to shooting and making a
free throw.
First, you have to find a way to get in the zone and be comfortable. Everyone is focused on you,
but you need to be focusing on the shot you re about to take. That is a lot easier said than done
because there are millions of eyes watching just you. The fans, cheerleaders, and the mascots are
just a few of the distractions. When practicing your freethrow always have a mental thought like
you re in the game and you re going to sink it. Nothing else matters once you re on the free throw
line, you need to be clear minded to take a good shot. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No one has the exact same shooting routine, you will just have to come up with one on your own.
A routine will help to get you in the zone and get you concentrated on the shot you are about to
take. Most guys are somewhat similar with their free throw routine. They usually walk to the free
throw line, dribble a couple times, spin the ball, and keep an eye on their target the entire time.
That helps to blur the distractions and get you fully focused on the free

Although orthopedic surgeons specialize in orthopedics, they must also have a thorough
understanding of the general physiology and anatomy of the human body. Therefore one must
also have a complete understanding of the musculoskeletal system and diseases of the system,
as well as prevention and treatment for those diseases. Because of the long work days that being
a surgeon requires, surgeons must be able to work through a day with little to no sleep and make
decisions when put under intense pressure. Also, because all doctors must pledge an oath to
HIPAA, all surgeons must be aware of medical ethics, rules, and regulations in the hospital or
medical facility, regarding patients and privacy. This career has a very positive outlook that is

42. Revolutionary War Revolutionary Essay
By defining a revolution as a radical change of conditions , the Revolutionary War was
unquestionably a revolution. In determining whether the Revolutionary War was revolutionary or
not, one must assess the extent to which society transformed before, throughout, and after the war.
Although some colonists sought to preserve the rights they enjoyed from tradition and custom, the
Revolutionary War can be described as revolutionary because men put their life as well as their
honor on the line to fight in a war when triumph seemed an unreachable goal. This was done to
make radical changes such as formulating an entirely new system of government instead of creating
a monarchy, as they had known.

When people are over three thousand miles away from each other, representation can be difficult.
When America first separated itself from Britain, the founding fathers attempted to create the least
amount of similarities as possible. The need to be different from Britain was shown primarily
through the creation of the Articles of Confederation as they represented a strong reaction against
the strong central government of Britain. The Continental Congress adopted the Articles on
November 15, 1777 and they served as the United States first Constitution. There were many
problems that came with the Articles. The government they created was so weak that tasks could
not be completed efficiently. Because of the weak government, America could not grow
economically which led to political uncertainty. The government had no power to enforce any
legislation it passed and congress was denied the power to tax. Money was one of the greatest issues
with the Articles of Confederation. Since the government was denied the right to tax, they could
only request money from the states and these requests were often denied. The legislature never had
enough money to run the government or to fulfill financial obligations to bondholders, soldiers, and

44. Alcohol Bottle Rocket Analysis
This memo evaluates the quality of instructions to build an Alcohol Bottle Rocket, using terms,
ideas, and concepts from our English book. I am evaluating instructions to build an Alcohol
Bottle Rocket. Doing this I look at the things learned from reading pages 551 563, and
comparing it to the Instruction Checklist on page 572. I am analyzing whether the instructions
incorporate type of audience, purpose, subject, and an attractive design. I will also be looking at
any precautions, item lists, the layout and that it is wrote in the imperative mood, or active voice.
Most of all I will be looking at whether or not the instructions are clear and concise. The qualities
that were acceptable are explained here. The instructions address everyone, as the author includes
that it is legal to possess in most countries and cities. The purpose of the instructions explain how
to build an Alcohol Bottle Rocket to have fun with. The Author also denotes that it is relatively

45. Write An Essay About The Importance Of Literacy
Literacy, apart from learning how to read and write, means to have the capability to pick up any
piece of work read, understand, and comprehend.
My grandmother, an English teacher, single handedly had the greatest impact upon the
development of my reading skills. She was very particular about the way me and my siblings
would convey ideas. When I was a child she used to give me prompts to read and write about so
that I could broaden my knowledge. Doing this really helped me condition my writing ability and
help me find different approaches to express my feelings from inner imagination to paper reality.
As a child I never could understand why my grandmother would make me read and write, but as I
got older I started to understand. Learning to read and write at a early age helped me develop
different literacy skills in extraordinary ways. With my grandma teaching me so young I feel like I
got an advantage in life it helped me stimulate my imagination in ways I ... Show more content on
