This document discusses the development of embryos in plants. It defines an embryo as a fertilized zygote or oospore that develops. There are 5 types of embryo development in angiosperms based on the role of the proembryo cells: 1) Crucifer type where the basal cell plays little role, 2) Asterad type where the basal and terminal cells are important, 3) Solanad type where the basal cell forms a suspensor, 4) Caryophyllod type where the basal cell divides, and 5) Chenopodiad type where both cells participate. It also describes the detailed development of embryos in Capsella bursa-pastoris and Luzula.
