Detecting Autism In Toddlers
Abstract
This paper considers the problem of detecting autism in toddlers at an age early enough to allow for
timely intervention. It begins with an overview of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) and explains
the importance of early screening for such disorders. It then outlines a range of possible screening
techniques, before focusing on the most prominent of these, the Modified Checklist for Autism in
Toddlers (M CHAT). The paper explains the origins of M CHAT, how it works, and what its results
have been so far. It also considers an important question guiding contemporary research on M CHAT,
namely the appropriate age range at which M CHAT is to be administered. The paper concludes with a
consideration of the limitations of research into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(2001) as a means of improving upon the earlier CHAT, both in terms of sensitivity and practicality. It
aims to detect ASDs early in toddlers and utilizes a parental questionnaire involving twenty three
questions, six of which are designated as critical. The latter refer to protodeclarative pointing,
response to name, interest in peers, bringing things to show a parent, following a point, and imitation
(Robins et al. 2001). In order to mitigate against false positives, M CHAT requires the practitioner to
contact parents in the case of positive screenings and to get them to verify their answers during a
follow up interview. A positive screen occurs in one of two cases: either if responses to any two of the
six critical questions indicate abnormal developmental progress, or if any three of the twenty three
questions indicate the same. Because of the relatively simple questionnaire format, which only takes
around five to ten minutes to complete, it is possible to administer the M CHAT screen by telephone if

Sight And Phonic Method
In the Literacy Methods course that is taught by, Dr. Walizer discussed this week with the class about
on how to introduce a word from the sight and phonics method, by the ERCI method. The sight
method involves a process, that starts by introducing a word, then reading it out loud, then by spelling
the word, and then lastly writing the word. It is perfectly ok to go through this method many times,
just to make sure each student is comprehending and grasping what you are trying to teach. To teach
this lesson, a teacher should have the word they are going to introduce on a notecard that the students
will eventually, be able to read, spell, and write out. The next step is when the teacher then uses the
word that is being introduced in a sentence, so that the students have a better idea of what that word ...

The teacher will then have the students proof and correct again and this time they can point to the
ceiling again or to the door, but to make sure they are writing the word, by pointing to each of the
letters. Although learning the words from the sight and phonics method they had quite a few
similarities as well as differences too. The main difference between them both was the class decoding
and the sounding out of each letter of the words. Essentially, the sight word is a lot easier to memorize
then the phonics method, because with the phonics method you have to break down each sound and
word by each letter too. The sight method could be a lot easier with easier words to make it easier on
your younger students and the phonics method could be a bit more difficult, but on the other hand but
helpful to them, by having them sound out each letter to determine what the word is. If a student is
unfamiliar with vowels, consonants, and homophones this could be a challenge and hard for them to
sound out each of the letters

Mahatma Gandhi Impact
Mahatma Gandhi was truly one of history s greatest heroes. He sacrificed his entire life to help those
in need. Through his love, perseverance, and endurance, Gandhi changed the world. Mahatma Gandhi,
born Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, was born in Porbandar, India, on October 2, 1896. He had two
older brothers named Laxmidas and Karsandas and an older sister named Raliabehn. He also had two
half sisters born from his father s previous marriage. Out of all of his siblings, Gandhi was the
youngest (Rau 4). Gandhi s father, Karamchand, was the diwan, or prime minister, of Porbandar.
Because of this, Gandhi and his family lived a comfortable life in a three story house along with
numerous servants. On the other hand, Gandhi s mother, Putlibai, had deep Hindu traditions. She was
extremely religious. She could often be found praying, fasting, and worshipping in the temple to honor
God. Putlibai s devotion to the Lord left a huge impression on Gandhi as a young boy (Rau 6 7).
When Gandhi was seven years old, he and his family moved to an inland city called Rajkot. This is
where Gandhi started school. Although he adored school, he was incredibly, painfully shy. Gandhi
once stated that his books and his lessons were his only companions. As soon as he was done with
school, he would sprint as fast as he could home to avoid any social interactions with his classmates.
One of Gandhi s many, many fears was that he would be made fun of him. At this point in his life, he
was very weak in

Netflix s Position As The Top Movies Streaming Service...
Executive summary Netflix. Inc was founded in 1997 as a DVD mail delivering Service Company that
has grown to become a renowned movie and Television series streaming provider. After launching its
streaming services in 2007 Netflix diversified and expanded its streaming services to Canada as of
2010 and is now a household name in more than 190 countries. The business model that the firm has
implemented since its inception has proved superior to its competitors. Before venturing in the
Canadian market the firms management had reiterated its strategic plan as one that seeks to grow
revenue, increase its market share and earnings as it expands the content of its streaming services. To
be leaders in an industry that is volatile with ever changing business environment is not easy. Thus the
purpose of this strategic plan will be to evaluate the firm and develop strategies and further
recommendations that will not only maintain Netflix s position as the top movies streaming service
provider globally but will also assist management to implement strategies that will help the firm to
adapt to a digital media landscape that is ever changing. An external audit of the digital media space
that Netflix operates its business shows that there are emerging trends that are likely to have
significant impact on the operations of the firm in the movie industry. The first cause of concern is that
the series and movies rental industry is gradually shifting primarily to streaming digital content

Algae Research Paper
One world environmental issue that we have to turn our attention to is poaching, specifically in Africa,
of animals such as elephants, zebras, lions, black rhinos, and mountain gorillas. Last year alone, over
35000 elephants were killed for their ivory tusks. Ivory is sold illegally for up to $1000 per pound, and
the tusks are often carved into jewelry, religious figurines, utensils, and other small trinkets. Around
2000 zebras remain in the wild, and these animals are sought after for their black and white striped
skins, which are often made into clothing or accessories. The surviving lion population is a mere 15%
of what it used to be, and that is because farmers keep killing them before the lions kill their livestock.
Lions are often hunted for fun too, most recently Cecil. The black rhino population is down 97.6%
since 1960, and these animals are killed for their valuable horns. The horns are believed to heal
various ailments, when in reality, the horns do not cure anything, it s all myth. Fewer than 900
mountain gorillas remain in the wild, and infant gorillas are often sold on the black market ... Show

most likely have to purchase new appliances or new parts to make their existing appliances and cars

of utilizing algae biofuel for everyday activities, similarly to how it took years for people to accept

Music And Music Therapy
Music is present in our everyday lives, in many different forms, yet we are oblivious to its therapeutic
values. Individuals with mental illnesses have hardships that they face daily. Patients will mental
illnesses may use music therapy to improve the extremity of their mood swings and ultimately, their
way of life. What is music therapy? Music therapy is the skillful use of music and musical elements by
an accredited music therapist to promote, maintain, and restore mental, physical, emotional, and
spiritual health (Ulbricht, Psychology Today). Since the beginning of time, music therapy has been
documented in multiple ways. In the Old Testament of the Bible, David was found comforting Saul
with his harp. Also, Plato and Aristotle both wrote of the virtues of music to calm and soothe, as well
as for stimulation and motivation. On the contrary, music therapy wasn t a professional discipline in
the United States until the 1940s. In the 21st century, it has broadened even further and is used in
diverse areas of medicine, such as cancer, palliative and pain control for surgical patients. Even with
countless experiments and evidence, there are plenty of people that are still suspicious of the
therapeutic benefits of music. As a result of this, music has been found as one of the least funded
activities in schools and universities. One of the biggest areas that music needs to be referred to is
mental illnesses. What necessarily makes someone have a mental illness? A mental

Creation and the Fall Essay
Creation and the Fall
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth 1 (Genesis 1:1).
As we look back in history we can see many beginnings, but the beginning referred to in this verse is a
beginning that defies understanding to the extreme. We see one of the most amazing creations in this
world in a newly born child, yet that creation pails in comparison to that of the creation on the world.
Look around you and imagine nothing. That s the way in was before the Lord gave us the first of
many gifts that have been bestowed upon the human race. When you really break it down you can see
that all things are truly created by God. Some may disagree and say that man has created everything

The effect of this is a less degradation of the ozone layer! And, as we all know today, a thicker ozone
layer means less short wave radiation on earth. Less short wave radiation and less ozone particles in
the lower part of the atmosphere meant longevity for mankind. 4 Below is an example of what the
atmosphere might have looked like after the second day.5 And God said, Let the water under the sky
be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear. And it was so. God called the dry ground land,
and the gathered waters He called seas. And God saw that it was good Genesis 1:9 10.6 Now reading
this verse might not conjure up amazing images in your head, but take a look around you and you will
see an amazing world that defies the imagination of mortal man. If God had just created man and
placed him on an empty planet with nothing to see, no mountains, no bodies of water, no canyons, etc,
and asked man to create a world, would we have anything close to what we see around us today? I
dare to say that we would probably still be living on an empty world all these years later. Only the one
true God could create all that we see and hear. Genesis 1:11 13 deals with the creation of plants and
trees. To some this may not seem to be all that amazing, but if you really think about it God was
preparing this earth for human inhabitation with all of these creations. Plants and trees are a staple of
life and without them the human race would surly parish. We receive

compare two different countries which have their own marketing strategies. These countries are
Pakistan and KSA. Both of these countries are different in many perspectives. Their culture is
different, strategic decisions are different, most importantly, there is a huge cultural difference in both
of these countries.
Although these countries are different in many perspectives, they are doing their business in each
other s homeland. Many Pakistani workers are working and running their businesses in KSA. While
many Saudis also set up their businesses in Pakistan. But still, their marketing strategies are different

Catcalling And Social Media
Street harassment, also know as catcalling, is an action that I hate the most. Street harassment is
unwanted sayings or gestures that are targeted toward someone in specific based on sexual orientation
or gender, and in this case, women. Catcalling can be verbal such as compliments, like, hey, baby.
Catcalling can be physical, like groping a part of the body, and it can also be sexual remarks. When I
see street harassment on social media, like in a picture or a video, I feel uncomfortable, so I can t even
imagine how some women feel when they have inappropriate comments thrown at them constantly.
I think catcalling is the dumbest thing that anyone could have possibly thought of. Women don t
deserve to get harassed on the street. We want to get from point A to point B without any interruptions,
unless it s with our consent and if it s a friend whom consent was given to. If I have to get stopped on
the street for a gross man to comment on my butt or follow me, it is not going to be a very good day.
Most women I know, do not enjoy the act of being catcalled, however, research from ILR ( Street
Harassment Statistics ) and Hollaback!, a non profit organization, showed that only 3%, out of 4,900
participants in the survey under the age of 40, has found street harassment flattering. Some people do
like it, and I m not going to shame, but I d much rather have people that know me and are my friends
compliment me in a nice way rather than strangers comment on my body because they

Anne Hutchinson And The Persecution Of The Puritans
From 1629 to 1640, approximately 200,000 Puritans escaping King Charles I s persecution of them in
connection to the Anglican Church fled England in what was referred to as the Great Migration.
Around 21,000 of these religious refugees sailed to the northeastern coast of North America and
established the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Through ruthless cultural preservation, not only did
Massachusetts grow into the most prosperous colony of English America, but the sentiments of its
formation were also echoed by the establishment of other two most successful colonies, both of which
were founded by persecuted religious groups; Pennsylvania by the Quakers and Virginia by Royalist
Anglicans. Due to their previous experiences, the settlers of Massachusetts built a culture that centered
around the preservation and growth of their own religious practices, through the notions of order and
unity. Ironically, the means they used in order to carry out said order were often violent and through
the persecution of those who were not Puritan, similar to the way the Anglicans treated them. One of
the most notable examples of this institutional violence was that of Anne Hutchinson. Hutchinson was
a preacher who challenged the fundamental concept of predestination, which was the principle that
God had already selected those who were going to heaven and those who were going to hell. While
many Puritans considered predestination to mean that they had to live a pious life in the event that

Searle Vs Sartre
With philosophy, nothing is black and white. Deciphering philosophical views is unlike anything else
because there is more depth and analysis that has to be put into play. It is about understanding what
the philosopher is trying to get across while making inferences about what they truly mean or could
mean. The thing about it is that at some times it tends to be a contradiction within itself: while certain
things can be true under certain circumstances, the opposite could be true under different
circumstances. Many ideas are hard to grasp and can be interpreted in various ways depending on how
people want to take it. One can say that John Searle and Jean Paul Sartre have a plethora of beliefs in
common yet really none at all. If they were assessing each other s views, they would agree and

Man is born, and then he defines himself. I believe that Searle would disagree with this. He would say
that our brain and its predetermined functions play a large role in everyday decisions and life choices.
Searle almost likes to believe that human are machines in referring to their syntactical processes. It
seems to me that he thinks our brains are wired a certain way, and I do not thing Sartre could agree. In
one conclusion he drew, Searle wrote, What we mean by that is that mental processes that we consider
to constitute a mind are caused, entirely caused, by processes going on inside the brain. . . . Brains
cause minds (Searle 39). By this, I believe he means that brains and minds are part of a human s
essence, therefore, he would probably believe that essence precedes existence. When breaking it down
and looking at their perspectives this way, Sartre and Searle differ greatly. Searle most likely would
not agree with that main theme in Sartre s

The Denver Basin Aquifer Framework
Denver Basin Aquifer
The Denver Basin aquifer framework is a noteworthy wellspring of water for South Metro Denver.
The system extends from Colorado Springs in the south to Greeley in the north, from the foothills
close to Golden in the west, toward the eastern fields close to Limon, is a surface locale of around
6,700 square miles. It joins four aquifers: the Dawson, Denver, Arapahoe, and Laramie Fox Hills.
Each aquifer has different water quality, profundities, and water availability (CFWE, 2002).
Describe the source of the groundwater, that is, where is the rainfall and snowmelt that feeds the
aquifer coming from, and what are the best estimates of the travel time from the source to the point of
withdrawal.
The Denver Basin has a semi arid atmosphere in which potential yearly evaporation is around five
times greater than yearly precipitation. Most of the precipitation that falls on the land surface either
runs off in streams, is evaporated from the surface of the soil, or is consumed by vegetation. Although
this may be the case, a little part of the precipitation more often than not diffuses downwards and
recharges the groundwater system. In the Denver Basin, a lot of the recharge happens in the highland
areas between stream channels in the higher southern part of the basin. Precipitation is more
prominent here, and the porous soils derived from the Dawson Arkose allow deep permeation.
Recharge here can happen on a local and a regional scale. Locally, water moves

Critical Summary Safe Area Gorazde Essay
Abandonment and Neglect in Gorazde. In his Safe Area Gorazde Joe Sacco describes his experience
visiting a Muslim enclave during the Bosnian War of 1991 1995. Tragically, this work is based on
testimonies of residents of Gorazde, allegedly a UN protected area where Bosnian Muslims are able to
take refuge to avoid the ethnic cleansing perpetrated by the Serbian army. Gorazde is anything but
protected which Sacco demonstrates throughout the book by ridiculing the UN and the US who are
able to and responsible for protecting the residents of such enclaves, but instead turn a blind eye to
what was going on. ...the U.N. extended safe area status to other Bosnian enclaves, including Gorazde.
But the U.N. had yet to work out what the concept ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The personal nature of the story is communicated through the author s experiences and by the people
of Gorazde themselves. Taking abandonment as an example, we follow Sacco as he travels down the
blue road which Bosnian Muslims cannot escape their suffering, the very same road which the UN
shares with Serbian ethnic cleansers. Here we have the international abandonment of the enclave.
Relayed to us by the people of Gorazde, is their abandonment of one another based on ethnicity.
Slightly more subtle is Sacco s constant communication of the senselessness of the abandonment
faced by Bosnian Muslims. In nearly every panel there is a sense of tragic absurdity to the whole
situation. We are invited by Sacco to feel as though we are abandoning the characters when Sacco
waives his blue card and leaves the Gorazde for the first time. Sacco tersely and pointedly expresses
the sentiment with, ...catch ya later! (65). This is a phrase that may have come naturally to Sacco but
also could have been designed with the majority of his reading audience in mind. The third level of
abandonment, which is central and speaks to the Bosnian conflict itself, is the abandonment of
community. Throughout the first portion of the work, Sacco takes care to repeat and emphasize
neighbors as a motif. This motif hits its first shocking climax in The First Attack . Sacco depicts the
first armed attack on the civilian population of Gorazde as

Land Law Reform
Indigenous people have long been denied the entitlement of land rights by Australia. Law reform has
been both effective as well as ineffective in achieving genuine access and control of land for the
indigenous people. Law reform aims to reinforce and strengthen justice, through the process of first
examining existing laws, and by then revoking, amending or creating the necessary changes to a law.
This procedure is acted in accordance with judicial bodies, by the result of case law along with
statutory law. The Native Title Act of 1993 was achieved through statutory reform. This act took place
by cause of the High Courts settlement of the second Mabo case of 1992. Although law reform has not
been exclusively effective, it has been relatively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The significance of this decision amended the base of land law in Australia. The most significant issue
of the case was if Queensland s 1879 act of annexation of the Murray islands extinguished native title,
by empowering the Crown with control of all Murray island land. The case involved the consideration
and judgment of the High Court and the Queensland Supreme Court. After Justice Moynihan of the
Supreme Court recommenced the hearing of the case facts, the proceedings reconvened on Murray
Island as well as on the mainland as requested by the plaintiffs. Mabo and the people of Meriam
requested it to be held on the island its self, as they believed it would be convenient in taking evidence
from witnesses, as well as to provide the court a better understanding of the island and its people. As
Justice Moynihan researched and investigated the aspects of the island, he discovered many things
about the island and its people. It was found that the Murray islanders had an elaborate social
structure, no concept of public land ownership and that the people had a clear awareness of identity as
well as powerful and abiding links to their land. The determination of the case depended on the
legality of the declaration of Terra Nullius; if Australia was determined Terra Nullius at the time of
settlement, this would result in the islanders case being invalid as English law applied, however, if it
was decided that the English had invaded Australia, then the initial occupants would therefore be
recognised. The High Court concluded the issue by deciding that Australian lands were not terra
nullius at the time of settlement and that native title had existed wherever indigenous people were
settled before European settlement. The court therefore granted the islanders with native title and the

Regan s Relationship With Her Mother In The Exorcist
In the film industry, women act as the devil s portal because they are deemed weaker compared to the
men in The Exorcist, it is Regan. According to a psychological interpretation of the film by Blatty and
Friedkin, Regan s parents are divorced, she is jealous of Burke, she s often rejected by her dad (clover,
1992:71) and that the relationship with her mother was fine and great before that. With that being said,
Regan s relationship with her mother is why she was possessed. After the possession, her attitude

Norma Rae Analysis
Many great movies have the opportunity to change public opinion or perspective on various issues.
From politics and violence, to relationships and identity, cinema can offer poignant commentary on
many social and cultural issues. The 1979 Oscar winning film Norma Rae adds to this tradition with
its messages about women, labor and other aspects of 1970s life. When it was released this movie was
ground breaking. Its strong female protagonist inspired people all over the nation. As time has gone
on, the film continues to stand as a beacon women, as well as for working class families and their
attitudes toward life. Additional commentary on the film comes from Jefferson Cowie s book Stayin
Alive. In this book Cowie focuses on Sally Field s depiction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The community depicted in the film consists of textile workers in the south and the film was even shot
in a real textile mill using workers as extras. This realism and accuracy gives an authentic depiction of
working class life in the late 1970s. This realism gives the audience of the time an ability to relate to
the events and ideas of the movie. Some working communities begin to realize that the fight to
unionize was literally a fight for the lives of working people. As workers of the time saw the movie
and saw the power of both individual effort and collaboration, they likely took these values back to
their home town. While some of the events in the movie do not relate to all communities, the emphasis
on thinking in new ways and taking new approaches to fair labor practices had a great impact on
people in the late 1970s. If a small southern town could overcome oppressive business forces and
unionize to seek better treatment, then all working towns should be able to do the same. The film s
influence on common working folks was not as significant as Norma Rae s impact on women, but still

larger than life IMAX Essay
1. Discuss IMAX s business level strategy to date and proposed changes. (10 points)
Products differentiation
The large format movie system gives customers unique visual and audio movie watching experience
that cannot be found in conventional movie theaters. IMAX is also differentiated by its library of films
and locations. IMAX located itself in institutional environment and commercial multiplexes to target
wider audiences include family, students, and tourists at different time during the day by screening its

IMAX is achieving economies of scale, the more movies released in IMAX format, the more the
IMAX system installed are utilized. IMAX is also updating their technologies and making
improvement to lower the costs of operations, therefore the learning curve cost advantages act as a
barrier to entry. The barrier to enter this industry is high.
Threats of substitutes
Live plays, sport events, TV programs (big screen TV, cable, and satellite), the internet, DVD, home
theater projection and sound system are all alternatives of IMAX movie for consumers to entertain
themselves in a different way. These substitutes also prevent IMAX from raising the ticket price. The
threats of substitutes are high.
Suppliers
The suppliers are vendors who provide the critical elements involved in IMAX s projectors and
camera systems, film making talents (actors, post production workers), other studios (Hollywood,
Disney, SKG DreamWorks etc.), and movie distributers (theater chain). The suppliers power is low
because by releasing movies in IMAX format and opening more IMAX screens will increase the box
office revenue for all the parties involved. IMAX does not pay top stars to make movies. They pay the
actors whose median salary is $17 per hour. IMAX has most its post production work done by its
wholly owned subsidiary. IMAX purchases its equipment components from vendors with

The Greatest Movie Ever Sold
The Greatest Movie Ever Sold
Media is everywhere, it became a part of our life. We are exposed to thousands of ad messages every
day and it s hard to imagine how it would feel to live without them constantly surrounding us. Today
we see ads in print publications, TV commercials, emails, on different products, massively scattered in
sport venues, and it s even spreading into public spaces. In his documentary, Morgan Spurlock
delivered a fascinating satire of the process of placing products into movies and tried to delve into the
nature of advertising in our society. In the movie Spurlock talks about product marketing while using
product placement to get brands to sponsor his movie. Of course, some of the brands (Guess, Harmel

For example, in this movie, Spurlock had to drink only POM drinks, eat only Amy s Pizza and stay

ones mentioned. Even when he showed the ads that he wanted to do for POM segments, they refused
every single one of them and basically told him that they wanted to use comparison with Minute Maid
juice, because that s how they wanted to be perceived. Brands are extremely concerned with their
public image, and that s why in Quentin Tarantino s case Denny s refused to take part in his movies.
His movies usually contain blood and murder scenes and no company wanted to risk being associated
with this theme.
One of the topics covered in the movie is the topic of selling out. The question is whether Spurlock is
selling out or not, and what would selling out look like if it s not the case here. The opinion of the
people, that have been asked this question seems to converge on the notion that he is not selling out,
because he s doing the thing he planned from the start. It s his idea and everything goes according to
plan. But as Spurlock said himself, when you become brand friendly , it s a slippery slope. The door is

Effects Of Global Warming On The World Essay
Diseases, war, etc... Those are major concerns of this world, and climate change is always a hot issue
given to debate. It s not just a matter of a single country, but it s a problem of the whole human race.
Humanity is facing the risk of extinction. The impact of environmental pollution leads to climate
change and natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanoes. Those disasters are caused
by the impact of humans to nature, such as deforestation, ecological imbalance, and use of chemicals.
Gas emissions from industries in urban areas are also a big factor that causes global warming. Earth s
temperature has been increasing each year. Glaciers melting are one of the early signs of global
warming. If more glaciers melt, the sea level will increase which may cause flooding in certain areas.
Global dimming is even more harmful to humans than global warming. Global dimming is also caused
by humans because of the air pollution caused by burning coal, oil, and wood, which releases carbon
dioxide to the earth s atmosphere. Air pollution can cause all kinds of illnesses, such as lung cancer,
heart diseases, and asthma. Climate change is impactful worldwide. Even though some people say that
climate change happens naturally, I believe it is caused by the impact of human activity. It is clear to
see how the impact of humans affects the climate. As the human population increases rapidly, the need
for housing, food, factories, and buildings also increases. Although, forests

The Role Of Women In The Deccameron By Giovanni Boccaccio
Giovanni Boccaccio sets The Decameron in a time period when women are regarded as holding lower
social position than men in a community. In the Biblical text, the roles of women are almost always
severely restricted. Women are not allowed to hold power or have a significant position in a society,
but to maintain in the positions of wives and mothers, who only care about family. In The Decameron,
Boccaccio reveals that women could hold an upper hand role in the relationship of male and female.
Boccaccio exceeds the roles of women, contrary to church teaching, by emphasizing their humanity as
a mean of increasing acceptance to women s dignity.
Women in The Decameron are portrayed as being more long suffering and more independent than
men. Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Pleural Intervention Essay
Pleural involvement in CT can be seen as pleural effusion, plaques, discrete pleural nodules, or a
combination. Pleural biopsy and pleural fluid cytologic examination are usually early steps in the
diagnostic workup of patients with pleural based masses. Primary pleural lymphoma is extremely rare.
By contrast, pleural involvement by systemic lymphoma is relatively common. Approximately 16% of
patients with non Hodgkin lymphoma present with, or subsequently develop, pleural involvement
during the course of disease. Pleural involvement can be unilateral or bilateral and is more common on
the left side (Vega et al., 2006). Pleural effusion in patients with lymphoma may be either due to actual
pleural disease or reactive in nature (Fig.37). 18F FDG ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
PET may provide complementary information to conventional staging as it is highly sensitive in
detecting nodal and extra nodal involvement by most histological subtypes of lymphoma prior to and
following treatment. In lymphoma staging, PET/CT tends to upstage rather than downstage tumors
(Okada et al., 2010). 18F FDG PET can be used for detecting most types of lymphoma. However,
even if the 18F FDG PET scan is positive in a pattern that is highly suggestive of lymphoma,
diagnosis of lymphoma requires histological confirmation. The major utility of 18F FDG PET in
diagnosis is often in directing a biopsy. PET can also be used to guide biopsies to the site of highest
18F FDG uptake, representing the most aggressive site of lymphoma. 18F FDG PET may identify
other involved regions, which can be biopsied at much lower morbidity (Delbeke et al, 2009). The
advantages of 18F FDG PET/CT for the staging and restaging of both NHL and Hodgkin disease are
mostly attributed to the detection of 18F FDG avid, normal sized lymph nodes (usually 1 cm), and of
extra nodal sites that were previously missed at CT (most commonly the liver, spleen, cortical bone,
bone marrow, and skin). In a few cases, paraspinal and pulmonary lesions that were interpreted as
benign at CT are seen to be malignant at PET/CT (Paes et al,

Delta and The Future of The Airline Industry Essay
IV. The Future of the Airline Industry
The Airline Industry is in an interesting situation. Simply adding a low cost alternative is not enough
in the industry. The Internet has made the power of buyers grow with the transparency of ticket prices.
This is not something that will change any time soon. Because of this profitability is predominately
reserved for low cost yet distinctive carriers. No consumer wants to ride what they consider a lesser
airline. Airlines need a way to distinguish themselves from one another while also acknowledging the
increased power of buyers. The future of the industry is in JetBlue s cheap chic style. Airlines need to

Through similar mergers in the 1980s and 1990s, Delta extended its reach into trans continental and
international markets (Rivkin 7 8). According to its stated position today,
Delta Air Lines serves more than 160 million customers each year. With an industry leading global
network, Delta and the Delta Connection carriers offer service to 356 destinations in 65 countries on
six continents. (Delta.com).
The result of this objective is the third largest commercial carrier in the world, having a strong
presence in major hubs such as Atlanta, Dallas, Cincinnati, and Salt Lake City (Rivkin 8).
As with all airlines, Delta s recent performance has been significantly impacted by industry shifts and
external events. Terrorist attacks and escalating costs have significantly impacted Delta s profitability
in recent history (Rivkin 4). The company has also been losing valuable market share to the low cost
carrier Southwest Airlines throughout the southeast and specifically in the lucrative Florida market
(Rivkin 8). JetBlue also began encroaching on key Delta routes, and this seems only likely to increase
(Rivkin 9). Despite this, Delta has still performed better than any other legacy carrier (Rivkin 8). Still,
recent history has brought several changes to this legacy carrier, and the company has turned its
attention towards new competitive strategies.

Constructivism And Realism Paradigm Analysis
The three main paradigms of international relations are liberalism, realism, and constructivism. In
regards to a zombie outbreak, each paradigm will predict a different outcome for survival and
cooperation. A liberal would argue that zombies represent a classic problem of dying and then coming
to life in an undead state and trying to make others to do so as well. Undoubtedly, the zombie dispute
would cross borderlines and affect all states, so the benefits from policy coordination would be
massive. A realist would argue that international politics would not be remarkably affected, at its main,
with the introduction of zombies into the mix of politics. Constructivism argues society is what we
perceive it to be, so zombies are what we make of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More humans will come to one with the zombie way of undead life, as it were, the remaining humans
would feel social pressure to conform and eventually adopt the norms and practices of zombies kind
of like towards the end of Shaun of the Dead. In the end, even humans would adopt zombie
constructed perceptions of right and wrong, and when it s appropriate to grunt in a menacing manner.
Constructivism emphasizes the significance of beliefs, values, norms, and identities in constructing
social reality and ultimately shaping a state s behavior. As one scholar compressed the constructivist
paradigm, anarchy is what states make of it (Wendt 391). Transnational norms, relationships, and
identities are shaped over time as states interact with one another; these identities and norms, in turn,
mutually construct state behavior. As opposed to realists, who argue that anarchy unavoidably leads to
competition for power and conflict, constructivists maintain that the lack of central authority in
worldwide politics has no inherent qualities that enact upon states a specific pattern of behavior.
Therefore, constructivism opens the door to a wide variety of policy responses to a particular
challenge. Applying the constructivist perspective to the fictional zombie apocalypse scenario,
Drezner contends that the existential peril posed by zombies could be the exogenous shock needed to
break down

Chivalry In Beowulf
Poetry in the Anglo Saxon or Medieval Period tended to be ballads that taught a lesson or
communicated a story. Poetry in these time periods also reflected the main religion of the specific
time. Beowulf, written in the Anglo Saxon time period is an epic, or long narrative poem, and contains
an uneasy blend of Christian ethics and pagan morality (Prentice Hall Literature, 23). Medieval poetry
focused on the chivalric code or lessons typically written in ballad form or as a lais. Bisclavret, a lais
written in the 12th century, illustrates the importance of upkeeping chivalry. Unlike these poems, the

Net Neutrality In Internet Essay
Most Americans today don t even know what net neutrality is, let alone how it so greatly affects their
life. Whenever you use the internet you are benefiting from net neutrality. Net neutrality is what
allows us to visit any website at the maximum speed anytime with no slowdowns or interference by
ISPs. This is one of the core ideas that internet was founded on. ISPs (Internet Service Providers) are
the companies that are trying to restrict and monopolize the internet. The removal of net neutrality
would allow ISPs greater control over what you can do, create and view on the internet. If ISPs have
this ability, they could greatly influence people s quality of life. The right to net neutrality is going to

By choosing net neutrality, we continue to protect our most unalienable right, the 1st Amendment. If
we don t protect our 1st Amendment here it could set a precedence were eventually we lose all of our

A great legal positive for the ISPs in keeping net neutrality is that net neutrality removes all liability of
what goes on on their networks, which we already have and they would probably like to keep. This,
again, is similar to how electrical companies work. If an electricity company was unknowingly
supplying power to a warehouse that was used to hack into a company, the electrical company isn t
liable for supplying the electricity because they don t get any control over monitoring what that power

  • 2. Detecting Autism In Toddlers Abstract This paper considers the problem of detecting autism in toddlers at an age early enough to allow for timely intervention. It begins with an overview of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) and explains the importance of early screening for such disorders. It then outlines a range of possible screening techniques, before focusing on the most prominent of these, the Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (M CHAT). The paper explains the origins of M CHAT, how it works, and what its results have been so far. It also considers an important question guiding contemporary research on M CHAT, namely the appropriate age range at which M CHAT is to be administered. The paper concludes with a consideration of the limitations of research into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (2001) as a means of improving upon the earlier CHAT, both in terms of sensitivity and practicality. It aims to detect ASDs early in toddlers and utilizes a parental questionnaire involving twenty three questions, six of which are designated as critical. The latter refer to protodeclarative pointing, response to name, interest in peers, bringing things to show a parent, following a point, and imitation (Robins et al. 2001). In order to mitigate against false positives, M CHAT requires the practitioner to contact parents in the case of positive screenings and to get them to verify their answers during a follow up interview. A positive screen occurs in one of two cases: either if responses to any two of the six critical questions indicate abnormal developmental progress, or if any three of the twenty three questions indicate the same. Because of the relatively simple questionnaire format, which only takes around five to ten minutes to complete, it is possible to administer the M CHAT screen by telephone if ... • 3. Sight And Phonic Method In the Literacy Methods course that is taught by, Dr. Walizer discussed this week with the class about on how to introduce a word from the sight and phonics method, by the ERCI method. The sight method involves a process, that starts by introducing a word, then reading it out loud, then by spelling the word, and then lastly writing the word. It is perfectly ok to go through this method many times, just to make sure each student is comprehending and grasping what you are trying to teach. To teach this lesson, a teacher should have the word they are going to introduce on a notecard that the students will eventually, be able to read, spell, and write out. The next step is when the teacher then uses the word that is being introduced in a sentence, so that the students have a better idea of what that word ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The teacher will then have the students proof and correct again and this time they can point to the ceiling again or to the door, but to make sure they are writing the word, by pointing to each of the letters. Although learning the words from the sight and phonics method they had quite a few similarities as well as differences too. The main difference between them both was the class decoding and the sounding out of each letter of the words. Essentially, the sight word is a lot easier to memorize then the phonics method, because with the phonics method you have to break down each sound and word by each letter too. The sight method could be a lot easier with easier words to make it easier on your younger students and the phonics method could be a bit more difficult, but on the other hand but helpful to them, by having them sound out each letter to determine what the word is. If a student is unfamiliar with vowels, consonants, and homophones this could be a challenge and hard for them to sound out each of the letters ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Mahatma Gandhi Impact Mahatma Gandhi was truly one of history s greatest heroes. He sacrificed his entire life to help those in need. Through his love, perseverance, and endurance, Gandhi changed the world. Mahatma Gandhi, born Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, was born in Porbandar, India, on October 2, 1896. He had two older brothers named Laxmidas and Karsandas and an older sister named Raliabehn. He also had two half sisters born from his father s previous marriage. Out of all of his siblings, Gandhi was the youngest (Rau 4). Gandhi s father, Karamchand, was the diwan, or prime minister, of Porbandar. Because of this, Gandhi and his family lived a comfortable life in a three story house along with numerous servants. On the other hand, Gandhi s mother, Putlibai, had deep Hindu traditions. She was extremely religious. She could often be found praying, fasting, and worshipping in the temple to honor God. Putlibai s devotion to the Lord left a huge impression on Gandhi as a young boy (Rau 6 7). When Gandhi was seven years old, he and his family moved to an inland city called Rajkot. This is where Gandhi started school. Although he adored school, he was incredibly, painfully shy. Gandhi once stated that his books and his lessons were his only companions. As soon as he was done with school, he would sprint as fast as he could home to avoid any social interactions with his classmates. One of Gandhi s many, many fears was that he would be made fun of him. At this point in his life, he was very weak in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Algae Research Paper One world environmental issue that we have to turn our attention to is poaching, specifically in Africa, of animals such as elephants, zebras, lions, black rhinos, and mountain gorillas. Last year alone, over 35000 elephants were killed for their ivory tusks. Ivory is sold illegally for up to $1000 per pound, and the tusks are often carved into jewelry, religious figurines, utensils, and other small trinkets. Around 2000 zebras remain in the wild, and these animals are sought after for their black and white striped skins, which are often made into clothing or accessories. The surviving lion population is a mere 15% of what it used to be, and that is because farmers keep killing them before the lions kill their livestock. Lions are often hunted for fun too, most recently Cecil. The black rhino population is down 97.6% since 1960, and these animals are killed for their valuable horns. The horns are believed to heal various ailments, when in reality, the horns do not cure anything, it s all myth. Fewer than 900 mountain gorillas remain in the wild, and infant gorillas are often sold on the black market ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Algae is easy to grow and requires little maintenance, and is renewable because it can be grown again and again. However, most people nowadays have cars that run on gasoline, as well as home appliances such as furnaces, stoves, and generators. In order for people to transition to algae biofuel, they will most likely have to purchase new appliances or new parts to make their existing appliances and cars algae friendly. I think that with time, people will become more and more comfortable with the thought of utilizing algae biofuel for everyday activities, similarly to how it took years for people to accept using solar panels to run their households and electric to fuel their ... Individuals with mental illnesses have hardships that they face daily. Patients will mental illnesses may use music therapy to improve the extremity of their mood swings and ultimately, their way of life. What is music therapy? Music therapy is the skillful use of music and musical elements by an accredited music therapist to promote, maintain, and restore mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health (Ulbricht, Psychology Today). Since the beginning of time, music therapy has been documented in multiple ways. In the Old Testament of the Bible, David was found comforting Saul with his harp. Also, Plato and Aristotle both wrote of the virtues of music to calm and soothe, as well as for stimulation and motivation. On the contrary, music therapy wasn t a professional discipline in the United States until the 1940s. In the 21st century, it has broadened even further and is used in diverse areas of medicine, such as cancer, palliative and pain control for surgical patients. Even with countless experiments and evidence, there are plenty of people that are still suspicious of the therapeutic benefits of music. As a result of this, music has been found as one of the least funded activities in schools and universities. One of the biggest areas that music needs to be referred to is mental illnesses. • 8. Creation and the Fall Essay Creation and the Fall In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth 1 (Genesis 1:1). As we look back in history we can see many beginnings, but the beginning referred to in this verse is a beginning that defies understanding to the extreme. We see one of the most amazing creations in this world in a newly born child, yet that creation pails in comparison to that of the creation on the world. Look around you and imagine nothing. That s the way in was before the Lord gave us the first of many gifts that have been bestowed upon the human race. When you really break it down you can see that all things are truly created by God. The effect of this is a less degradation of the ozone layer! And, as we all know today, a thicker ozone layer means less short wave radiation on earth. And it was so. God called the dry ground land, and the gathered waters He called seas. And God saw that it was good Genesis 1:9 10.6 Now reading this verse might not conjure up amazing images in your head, but take a look around you and you will see an amazing world that defies the imagination of mortal man. If God had just created man and placed him on an empty planet with nothing to see, no mountains, no bodies of water, no canyons, etc, and asked man to create a world, would we have anything close to what we see around us today? I dare to say that we would probably still be living on an empty world all these years later. Only the one true God could create all that we see and hear. Genesis 1:11 13 deals with the creation of plants and trees. To some this may not seem to be all that amazing, but if you really think about it God was preparing this earth for human inhabitation with all of these creations. • 13. Catcalling And Social Media Street harassment, also know as catcalling, is an action that I hate the most. Street harassment is unwanted sayings or gestures that are targeted toward someone in specific based on sexual orientation or gender, and in this case, women. Catcalling can be verbal such as compliments, like, hey, baby. Catcalling can be physical, like groping a part of the body, and it can also be sexual remarks. When I see street harassment on social media, like in a picture or a video, I feel uncomfortable, so I can t even imagine how some women feel when they have inappropriate comments thrown at them constantly. I think catcalling is the dumbest thing that anyone could have possibly thought of. Women don t deserve to get harassed on the street. We want to get from point A to point B without any interruptions, unless it s with our consent and if it s a friend whom consent was given to. If I have to get stopped on the street for a gross man to comment on my butt or follow me, it is not going to be a very good day. Most women I know, do not enjoy the act of being catcalled, however, research from ILR ( Street Harassment Statistics ) and Hollaback!, a non profit organization, showed that only 3%, out of 4,900 participants in the survey under the age of 40, has found street harassment flattering. Anne Hutchinson And The Persecution Of The Puritans From 1629 to 1640, approximately 200,000 Puritans escaping King Charles I s persecution of them in connection to the Anglican Church fled England in what was referred to as the Great Migration. Around 21,000 of these religious refugees sailed to the northeastern coast of North America and established the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Through ruthless cultural preservation, not only did Massachusetts grow into the most prosperous colony of English America, but the sentiments of its formation were also echoed by the establishment of other two most successful colonies, both of which were founded by persecuted religious groups; Pennsylvania by the Quakers and Virginia by Royalist Anglicans. Due to their previous experiences, the settlers of Massachusetts built a culture that centered around the preservation and growth of their own religious practices, through the notions of order and unity. Ironically, the means they used in order to carry out said order were often violent and through the persecution of those who were not Puritan, similar to the way the Anglicans treated them. One of the most notable examples of this institutional violence was that of Anne Hutchinson. Hutchinson was a preacher who challenged the fundamental concept of predestination, which was the principle that God had already selected those who were going to heaven and those who were going to hell. It is about understanding what the philosopher is trying to get across while making inferences about what they truly mean or could mean. The thing about it is that at some times it tends to be a contradiction within itself: while certain things can be true under certain circumstances, the opposite could be true under different circumstances. Many ideas are hard to grasp and can be interpreted in various ways depending on how people want to take it. In one conclusion he drew, Searle wrote, What we mean by that is that mental processes that we consider to constitute a mind are caused, entirely caused, by processes going on inside the brain. . . . Brains cause minds (Searle 39). By this, I believe he means that brains and minds are part of a human s essence, therefore, he would probably believe that essence precedes existence. The system extends from Colorado Springs in the south to Greeley in the north, from the foothills close to Golden in the west, toward the eastern fields close to Limon, is a surface locale of around 6,700 square miles. It joins four aquifers: the Dawson, Denver, Arapahoe, and Laramie Fox Hills. Each aquifer has different water quality, profundities, and water availability (CFWE, 2002). Describe the source of the groundwater, that is, where is the rainfall and snowmelt that feeds the aquifer coming from, and what are the best estimates of the travel time from the source to the point of withdrawal. The Denver Basin has a semi arid atmosphere in which potential yearly evaporation is around five times greater than yearly precipitation. Most of the precipitation that falls on the land surface either runs off in streams, is evaporated from the surface of the soil, or is consumed by vegetation. Although this may be the case, a little part of the precipitation more often than not diffuses downwards and recharges the groundwater system. In the Denver Basin, a lot of the recharge happens in the highland areas between stream channels in the higher southern part of the basin. Precipitation is more prominent here, and the porous soils derived from the Dawson Arkose allow deep permeation. Recharge here can happen on a local and a regional scale. Locally, water moves ... Here we have the international abandonment of the enclave. Relayed to us by the people of Gorazde, is their abandonment of one another based on ethnicity. Slightly more subtle is Sacco s constant communication of the senselessness of the abandonment faced by Bosnian Muslims. In nearly every panel there is a sense of tragic absurdity to the whole situation. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The significance of this decision amended the base of land law in Australia. The most significant issue of the case was if Queensland s 1879 act of annexation of the Murray islands extinguished native title, by empowering the Crown with control of all Murray island land. The case involved the consideration and judgment of the High Court and the Queensland Supreme Court. After Justice Moynihan of the Supreme Court recommenced the hearing of the case facts, the proceedings reconvened on Murray Island as well as on the mainland as requested by the plaintiffs. Mabo and the people of Meriam requested it to be held on the island its self, as they believed it would be convenient in taking evidence from witnesses, as well as to provide the court a better understanding of the island and its people. As Justice Moynihan researched and investigated the aspects of the island, he discovered many things about the island and its people. It was found that the Murray islanders had an elaborate social structure, no concept of public land ownership and that the people had a clear awareness of identity as well as powerful and abiding links to their land. The determination of the case depended on the legality of the declaration of Terra Nullius; if Australia was determined Terra Nullius at the time of settlement, this would result in the islanders case being invalid as English law applied, however, if it was decided that the English had invaded Australia, then the initial occupants would therefore be recognised. The High Court concluded the issue by deciding that Australian lands were not terra nullius at the time of settlement and that native title had existed wherever indigenous people were settled before European settlement. However, even if the 18F FDG PET scan is positive in a pattern that is highly suggestive of lymphoma, diagnosis of lymphoma requires histological confirmation. The major utility of 18F FDG PET in diagnosis is often in directing a biopsy. • 31. Constructivism And Realism Paradigm Analysis The three main paradigms of international relations are liberalism, realism, and constructivism. In regards to a zombie outbreak, each paradigm will predict a different outcome for survival and cooperation. A liberal would argue that zombies represent a classic problem of dying and then coming to life in an undead state and trying to make others to do so as well. Undoubtedly, the zombie dispute would cross borderlines and affect all states, so the benefits from policy coordination would be massive. A realist would argue that international politics would not be remarkably affected, at its main, with the introduction of zombies into the mix of politics. Constructivism argues society is what we perceive it to be, so zombies are what we make of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... More humans will come to one with the zombie way of undead life, as it were, the remaining humans would feel social pressure to conform and eventually adopt the norms and practices of zombies kind of like towards the end of Shaun of the Dead. In the end, even humans would adopt zombie constructed perceptions of right and wrong, and when it s appropriate to grunt in a menacing manner. Constructivism emphasizes the significance of beliefs, values, norms, and identities in constructing social reality and ultimately shaping a state s behavior. As one scholar compressed the constructivist paradigm, anarchy is what states make of it (Wendt 391). Transnational norms, relationships, and identities are shaped over time as states interact with one another; these identities and norms, in turn, mutually construct state behavior. As opposed to realists, who argue that anarchy unavoidably leads to competition for power and conflict, constructivists maintain that the lack of central authority in worldwide politics has no inherent qualities that enact upon states a specific pattern of behavior. Therefore, constructivism opens the door to a wide variety of policy responses to a particular challenge. Applying the constructivist perspective to the fictional zombie apocalypse scenario, Drezner contends that the existential peril posed by zombies could be the exogenous shock needed to break down ...
