A number of physical, chemical and biological characteristics have been proposed as indicators of soil health. Generally, biological processes in soil such as decomposition and storage of organic matter, C and N cycling, microbial and metabolic quotients are likely to be influenced greatly by climate change and have thus high relevance to assess climate change impacts (Allen et al., 2011). Soil organic matter (SOM) exerts a major influence on several soil health indicators and is thus considered a key indicator of soil health. An optimal level of SOM is essential for maintaining soil health and alleviating rising atmospheric CO2 concentration. Elevated CO2 has increased C decay rates generally but in some cases elevated CO2 increases soil C storage (Jastrow et al., 2016). Enhancing the soil organic carbon pool also improves agro-ecosystem resilience, eco-efficiency, and adaptation to climate change. Healthy soils provide the largest store of terrestrial carbon, when managed sustainably; soils can play an important role in climate change mitigation by storing carbon (carbon sequestration) and decreasing greenhouse gas emissions in the atmosphere (Paustian et al., 2016).
Wright et al., (2005) reported that no tillage increase soil organic carbon (SOC) and nitrogen (SON) 11 and 21% in corn and 22 and 12 % in cotton than conventional tillage. Agroforestry system at farmers’ field enhance soil biological activity and amongst trees, P. cineraria based system brought maximum and significant improvement in soil biological activity (Yadav et al ., 2011).

Droughts and floods, extreme cold and heat waves, forest fires, landslides and mudslips, icestorms, duststorms, hailstorms, thunder clouds associated with lightening and sea level rise are throwing new challenges to farmers and farming. This dangerously narrow level of food base prompts to widen the base of grains, vegetables, fruits, spices, industrial crops, mushrooms and aromatic plants. The emphasis was so far on terrestrial plants, forest plants and lesser on aquatic and lower plants. The aquatic plants- fresh water, brackish water, marine- were not much explored for edible use except by Chinese, Japanese and S.E. Asian nations. Halophytes, ferns and sea weeds are so far climate resilient. The Indo-Burmese Centre of origin (Hindustan centre including North East) is abode of several plants of possible vegetable, fruit and spice values. Eighty thousand plants are reported to be of possible use, about 30,000 plants are found edible in nature and approximately 7,000 plants are cultivated by mankind at one time or another, of which 158 plants are grown by man at some point of time. Among these, 30 crops provide world’s food and only 10 crops supply 75% of the world’s food budget. Out of these only three crops-rice, wheat, maize provide 60% of the world’s food requirement.This dangerously narrow level of food base prompts to widen the base of grains, vegetables, fruits, spices, industrial crops medicinal plants, mushrooms, plantation crops, pulses, fibre crops, oil seeds and aromatic plants.The emphasis so far was more on terrestrial plants, forest plants and lesser on lower plants like lichens, micro algae, fungi and bryophytes. harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.

17. Effect of e(CO2) on C3 and C4 plants
About 85% of plant species are C3 plants.
This includes most of the weeds along with important C3 crops like
wheat, rice, barley, cotton, soybean, etc.
C3 plants are more competitive than C4 plants, which is why weeds
give such high competition to the main crop. (Even if it is a C3 crop)
E(CO2) increases WUE of C3 species by increasing their CO2
assimilation and reducing their transpiration rate.
Under water stress and e(CO2) conditions, C3 plants will survive
more efficiently than C4 plants. ( Journal of Bioscience, 2005 )
18. Effect of e(CO2) on C3 and C4 plants
• The C3 plants show saturation at 450 ppm and the C4 plants
show saturation at 360 ppm of CO2 concentration in the
atmosphere.
• C4 plants such as corn, maize, sugarcane, etc are more efficient
in picking up CO2 only when it is found in low concentration.
• In intercropping condition, C4 plants’ shoot dry weights
decrease under elevated CO2 concentration.

19. Climate change, if CO2 concentration keep increasing?
Future effects:
• Temperature will continue to rise.
• Frost-free season (and Growing Season) will lengthen.
• Changes in precipitation patterns.
• Exacerbation of droughts and heat waves.
• Hurricanes will become stronger and more intense.
• Global sea level will rise 1-4 feet by 2100. (While it had only
risen 8 inches since 1880)
• Arctic likely to become Ice-Free. (Possibly by summer before
mid-century)

Conclusion
22. • Yield does increase in many cases, but quality of the yield also
goes down with it. (Seed quality)
• More researches are needed to show more evident results that
the e(CO2) concentration can be used after some improvements
to it, for the future commercial use in the crop production.
• And if these researches give fruitful results in the future, then
maybe hopefully we can achieve the supply of food demand the
9.8 billion population will need by 2050 and later.
