Culture Hacking — Subversive And Intentional Innovation Capability Building F...Jan Schmiedgen
My talk from the IRDG Design Thinking Conference 2018:
These days design thinking is in high demand with top leadership. But often it’s just the outcomes — the innovation — management wants, less so the organizational change that comes attached with a comprehensive methodology and mindset. Why? The former is ‘sexy’ and brings money, the latter is annoying and might need investment at the outset. So, for many innovators and intrapreneurs the question is: how can we establish a design thinking practice sustainably, even with just ‘lip-service leadership support’? Jan’s talk will look into that topic by showcasing a range of inspiring examples of deliberate and subversive (culture hack) innovation capability building.

Building Great Innovation Challenges - 1st Edition v3GreenData.IO
What is a great innovation challenge?
Building Great Innovation Challenges answers this question along with:
- What makes innovation programs fail?
- Who is mission critical to innovation challenge program success?
- What are the steps to delivering a challenge and engaging the crowd?
- How can innovation challenges create value for my organization?
- Where can I go to participate in an innovation challenge and try this out?
What are the differences between popular innovation project management methodologies? Why does project management often fail? Learn how risk assessment should define your methodology in order to become a real innovation factory. The waterfall methodology has been promoted for years as the best practice for IR&D management. These days agile and scrum are increasingly popular as alternative. Hater or believer? Good or bad? Get guided through our body of knowledge as published in the Inspire Toolbox.
An unscientific survey of what managers ask and say about Innovation shows the volume of serious advice rapidly increasing but managers still losing ground. Maybe the advice needs to be simpler and more consistent.

The Manufacturing Recovery Toolkit - Kickoff WorkshopAndrea Cattabriga
Small and medium manufacturing enterprises across Europe are completely alone in facing the future and imaging what’s next. They have been abandoned by trade associations and unions that, at the same time, have become incapable to read the markets and the society at large.
They are facing fast cultural changes that cannot be interpreted without a new consciousness about what cooperations and collaboration means today, technology approach and collective intelligence potential, platforms and business modeling techniques.
This is the real tragedy we observe every day spending almost half of our time trying to develop projects aimed to increase they potential and exposure, and the other half explaining why they should join and how they must change their minds.
Out there, they are dying, leaving millions of people unprepared to the future.
That’s why we need to build an instrument and spread an actual strategy to leverage politicians and trade associations on the importance of changing manufacturing culture.
It’s not about exploring business opportunities in “new markets” or only “building new markets”, it’s about moving manufacturing from one-to-one and one-to-many to p2p, this time involving small companies.
This workshop is intended to be a kick-off for an international team aimed to develop a strategic toolkit specifically oriented to this.
We must explain with examples, strategies and behaviors how to turn companies into public commons.
After Paris we’ll develop the website and the project will be opened to everyone collaboration.
If you plan to join us or simply follow our work, consider to subscribe to the newsletter here, or write a line to hello (at) manufacturingrecovery.tk

Introduction to Implementing the Balanced Value Impact Model - Workshop for N...Simon Tanner
The Balanced Value Impact Model is intended to aid the thinking and decision making of those wishing to engage in Impact Assessment. It also acts as a guide through the process of Impact Assessment to enable the core values most appropriate to the assessment to be brought to the fore and given a balanced consideration when evaluating outcomes. It presumes that the assessment will be measuring change within an ecosystem for a digital resource.
For the purposes of this Model, the definition of Impact is: The measurable outcomes arising from the existence of a digital resource that demonstrate a change in the life or life opportunities of the community.
Who should use the BVI Model?
The aim of this workshop is to provide key information and a strong model for the following primary communities of use:
Memory institutions and cultural heritage organizations, such as libraries, museums and archives.
Funding bodies who wish to promote evidence-based impact assessment of activities they support.
Holders and custodians of special collections.
Managers, project managers and fundraisers who are seeking to justify further investment in digital resources.
Academics looking to establish digital projects and digital scholarship collaborations with collection owners.
Publishing, media and business sectors which may be considering the best means to measure the impact of their digital resources and are looking to collaborate and align with collection owners, with academia or with memory institutions.
Impact Assessment practitioners considering an Impact Assessment of a digital resource.
What the workshop will cover:
Where the value and impact can be found in digital resources,
Who are the beneficiaries gaining from the impact and value,
How to measure change and impact for digital resources,
How to do an Impact Assessment using the Balanced Value Impact Model, and
How to present a convincing evidence-based argument for digital resources?
The Workshop will include case studies of how the BVI Model is being implemented at present.
This report highlights case studies in which people in developing countries have benefitted from innovative solutions following support from UK Research and Innovation.

Foresight For Profitable Futures Mark OstrynMark Ostryn
Mark reviews what components drive long term business value: future vision, strategic flexibility, scalability, the team, acquisitions, alliances and partnerships and the creation of barriers to entry.
He then takes a case study approach to review how changes are taking place in education, construction, packaging, bakery and trucking.
Various tools for strategic planning are then considered including scenario analysis, adaptive scenarios, horizon scanning, scoping and competitive intelligence.
These tools are adapted to industry in a "collaborative foresight" framework using scanning, strategic thinking, networking and action planning in order to help entrepreneurs create a future vision.

Problem Statement
It's a 4-year project with a budget of 30 million

project a system innovation, with inventing new
use cases across each technology. Your
stakeholders are many: the business owner, the
