Indie rock originated in the 1980s from independent record labels that produced alternative rock music. It is characterized by a balance of pop accessibility and experimentation. Indie rock videos typically feature band performance over narrative to showcase their live energy. They also often use cinematic techniques and mood-setting elements like lighting, makeup, colors and camerawork to represent the song and attract audiences.

He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
2. BACKGROUND
Indie rock is a genre of alternative rock that originated in the United States
and the United Kingdom in the 1980s. Originally used to describe independent
record labels, the term became associated with the music they produced and
was initially used interchangeably with alternative rock. Much of Indie rock is
shaped from bluegrass and folk roots.
As grunge and punk revival bands in the US, and then Britpop bands in the
UK, broke into the mainstream in the 1990s, it came to be used to identify
those acts that retained an outsider and underground perspective. In the
2000s, as a result of changes in the music industry and the growing importance
of the Internet, some indie rock acts began to enjoy commercial success,
leading to questions about its meaningfulness as a term.
3. BACKGROUND
• The term indie rock, which comes from "independent," describes the small and
relatively low-budget labels on which it is released and the do-it-yourself
attitude of the bands and artists involved. Although distribution deals are often
struck with major corporate companies, these labels and the bands they host
have attempted to retain their autonomy, leaving them free to explore sounds,
emotions and subjects of limited appeal to large, mainstream audiences. The
influences and styles of the artists have been extremely diverse, including punk,
psychedelia, post-punk and country.
• Indie rock is characterized as having a careful balance of pop accessibility with
noise, experimentation with pop music formulae, sensitive lyrics masked by
ironic posturing, a concern with "authenticity," and the depiction of a simple
guy or girl. It is also noted for having a relatively high proportion of female
artists compared with preceding rock genres, which fits perfectly with our
music video as the artist is a female.
• Cult following of the younger generation which is striving to be different from
pop music followers.
• Not often known to popular audiences because of independent record labels.
4. CONVENTIONS OF AN INDIE
ROCK MUSIC VIDEO
• Indie rock bands and any other type of rock band would
usually use a lot of performance in their music videos and
less narrative because a lot of these artists play music for
their themselves and not the industry. This is unlike the
majority of pop artists that are treated like a product
specifically to make money through sells of electronic music
to a big target audience.
• For indie rock bands, performance is a key element in their
music videos to show off their energy or passion to attract
an audience to their live shows. A typical indie rock music
video would have both a performance and narrative
element.
• Narratives in indie rock videos are usually more deep than
that of pop videos due to the artists song writing. Indie rock
videos tend to have a cinematic feel depending on budget so
it would get more online views to make more money.
Narrative is any music video is key to representing and
explain the song in a visual way that what attract an
audience.

ROCK MUSIC VIDEO
• The make-up to match the theme of the music video, as well as the
lighting to enhance the mood of a song.
• Colours to represent mood/ theme of song.
• Cinematic effects and filters are often used to make the music video feel
like a mini movie.
• A lot of speed changes are used (usually slow to create a sense of time
running out)
• Extreme close ups, close ups are widely used to show artists/actors to
represent emotion of song through facial expression.
• Many establishing shots are used on the performance of the whole band.
A typical indie rock music video, like most music videos, are about image.
