CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
A good classroom management is essential for efficient
teaching.
Classroom Management refers to things a teacher should
do to organize students, learning, space, time and teaching
materials.
Essential requirements for Classroom
Management
 Organizing students
 Seating arrangements
 Sufficient light
 Conducive environment
 Teaching materials & aids
 Managing Time
How to introduce yourself to your students
 To get respect and image in class start off the year in the
right foot.
 Introduce yourself to the students in a simple and positive
manner.
 Make them feel comfortable with your presence.
 Give them a warm and healthy welcome.
Set Strict Rules in Class
As TEACHERS all of us face certain common problems
in the class such as
 Talking.
 Coming late to class.
 Disturbing the class.
 Disrespect towards classmates and teacher.
 Coming to class without books etc.
Do not procrastinate!!!
 Set rules from the beginning.
 Your students must be aware from the beginning what
you expect from them and what you will not tolerate.
 Draft a text and if necessary use it.
The Master Key for Classroom management is
Effective Teaching.
Behavior will rarely become a problem in class if effective
teaching takes place and in order to have an effective
teaching environment a teacher can follow various
techniques and strategies.
An educator must use different techniques
to steer the attention of his/her students.
 Start your lecture with a small video of 2/3 minutes
related to your teaching topic.
 Make your lecture interesting by using power point slides.
 Use Visual Learning such as Graphs, maps, tables,
posters and charts etc.
 Incite questions.
 Plan activities, group/individual.
 Give assignments.
Using Proximity in the Classroom.
 Classrooms create a separation between the teacher and
the students.
 The students talk, heckle, disturb or are inattentive when
they know that the teacher is at a distant.
 Movement is an effective technique to eliminate spatial
separation.
 Proximity keeps students alert.
 Teaching and controlling goes together when there is
good proximity.
To conclude it can be added that Classroom
Management is the key to an environment
where learning can take place and students
can feel safe in participating. It creates an
environment that is conducive to learning and
involves all the students. Classroom
Management Key if applied effectively will limit
the behavior problems in the classroom and
will create a healthy and progressive teaching
– learning environment.
