The Challenge
Your ideas of what a (virtual) learning environment of the future could be like
without the constraint of a computer, phone or tablet screen
(although some device may be required to interface).

• You must accept the terms and
conditions to submit an idea

• Staff or students
• Entrepreneurs/businesses
• NOT Jisc staff

The prize
• 10 ideas will be shortlisted
• First prize £1000
• Two runners up £250 each
• Short listed ideas reported in blog post
and showcased at Digifest 2019

We’re looking for early-stage startups with a product that could
improve UK education and research who need help getting their
market-ready edtech product seen by universities and colleges.
Competition timeline:
1 November 2018: competition opens
21 January 2019: submissions close
w/c 28 January 2019: shortlisted teams notified
12 March 2019: pitch day

  • 4. Emerging technologies Edtech Challenges • Artificial intelligence (AI) • Voice interfacing tools • Virtual and augmented • Gesture based interfaces • Technology to support people with disabilities • Natural language dictation software • Wearable technologies

  • 6. What is required? • A short title • A description of your idea • What does it solve? • How will it work? • Who will it benefit? • A link to a video or other media is useful • Team members (why?) • You must accept the terms and conditions to submit an idea Edtech Challenges
  • 7. Who can enter • You must be 18 or over • Based/studying in the UK • Staff or students • Entrepreneurs/businesses • NOT Jisc staff Edtech Challenges
  • 8. The prize • 10 ideas will be shortlisted • First prize £1000 • Two runners up £250 each • Short listed ideas reported in blog post and showcased at Digifest 2019 Edtech Challenges
  • 9. Why consent to stay in touch? • Hear about future challenges • Student consultation workshop • Hackathons • Maybe a design sprint Edtech Challenges
  • 10. Intellectual property • You agree to your idea and anything you submit being shared in the public domain • If you have background IP or products you need to protect it anyway • You are free to develop the idea as a product at anytime in the future • We won’t develop any ideas without prior discussions Edtech Challenges

Start-up competition Edtech startups competition Join the conversation We’re looking for early-stage startups with a product that could improve UK education and research who need help getting their market-ready edtech product seen by universities and colleges.
