How to do a Literature search for your research and scientific publication BhaskarBorgohain4
In the age of information boom it may be challenging task to find relevant information for your research work. its like finding a needle in a haystack. After initial readings from textbooks and library journals you may want to first search in Wikipedia, google, google scholar and then go to Pubmed, Medline, science direct , wileyonline, science.gov, cochrane library etc to formulate your keywords based on your research question. read a medical dictionary to find synonyms of the keywords and brainstorm with your supervisor, peers, friends etc to get more key words to search again and find the right search strategy. do not forget to look for Grey literature like unpublished Thesis works from reputed universities, proceedings of conferences of reputed professional associations as well. keep records using a software like end-note, Rayyan etc. References of authors must be recorded as you go along.
Every search system offers a variety of features and special search techniques, and rarely are any two systems searched exactly the same way. There are, however, some common search strategies that you can use for databases and other systems.
Survey on Key Phrase Extraction using Machine Learning ApproachesYogeshIJTSRD
The automated keyword extraction task is to define a collection of representative terms for the text. Extracting keywords defines a small collection of terms, key phrases and keywords that define the document’s context. Keyword search allows large document collections to be searched effectively. To allocate suitable key phrases to new documents, text categorization techniques can be applied. A predefined collection of key phrases from which all key phrases for new documents are selected is given in the training documents. The training data for each key phrase describes a collection of documents associated with it. Standard machine learning techniques are used for each key phrase to construct a classifier from the training materials, using those relevant to it as positive examples and the rest as negative examples. Provided a new text, it is processed by the classifier of each key phrase. Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

3. Basic Search and Research Strategy
1.Develop a research question.
2.Make a list of keywords (with possible
synonyms)
3.Select an appropriate database or other
resource
4.Utilize Boolean searching techniques
5.Refine your results
6.Evaluate the results
7.Cite your sources
4. Developing a Research Question
These resources will help you in developing and
refining your research question:

6. Keywords and Synonyms
You will find it helpful to put your research need in the form of a
question in order to better focus your thoughts as you evaluate your
results. However, unlike Google and other internet search engines,
the academic databases you find through the library do not
accommodate natural language searching. Therefore, you will also
want to develop one or more keywords or keyword phrases from
that question.
Keep in mind that there will likely be many possible keywords to
describe the idea you have in mind. Using synonyms of any keyword
or keyword phrase is an essential part of the keyword research
process. You will want to prepare for flexibility by keeping in mind
alternative ways of terming the keywords and keyword phrases
drawn from your research question.
7. Boolean Operators
AND
• narrows your results, telling the database that BOTH
or ALL of the search terms must be present
OR
• broadens your results, telling the database that
EITHER or ANY of the search terms must be present
NOT
• narrows your results, telling the database to
exclude the search term from the results
8.
9. Advanced Searching
Use quotation marks for phrase searching.
Use parentheses to control the order in which
search terms are combined.
Capitalization does not matter
Spelling is important
10. Advanced Searching:
WildcardsWildcard Searching
The wildcard is an advanced search technique that can be used
to maximize your search results. Wildcards are used in search terms to
represent one or more other characters.
The two most commonly used wildcards are:
• An asterisk (*) may be used to specify any number of characters. It is
typically used at the end of a root word, when it is referred to as
"truncation." This is great when you want to search for variable
endings of a root word.
• For example: searching for educat* would tell the database to look
for all possible endings to that root. Results will
include educate, educated, education, educational or educator.
• A question mark (?) may be used to represent a single character,
anywhere in the word. It is most useful when there are variable
spellings for a word, and you want to search for all variants at once.
• For example, searching for colo?r would return
both color and colour.
11. Advanced Searching:
Proximity
NEAR/#
Finds documents where the search terms are separated by up to a certain number of words of
each other (either before or after). Note: If you don't specify a number after the slash, NEAR will
default to maximum 4 intervening words between terms
Example: computer NEAR/3 careers
computer and careers can be separated by up to 3 intervening words
retrieves career in the computer industry
PRE/#
Finds documents where the search terms are separated by up to a certain number of words of
each other in the specified order. Note: If you don't specify a number after the slash, PRE will
apply a default value of max 4 intervening words.
Example: "business management" PRE education = "business management" PRE/4
education
"pre" p/1 war retrieves pre-war but also pre-world-war
12. Advanced Searching:
Subject HeadingSubject headings are a "controlled vocabulary" that describe the content of each item in a database.
Searching by subject headings can be the most precise way to find relevant articles. It is not easy to guess
which subject headings are being used in a given database.
Keywords are the natural language that you might use to describe your topic. It is how one typically searches
in web search engines. While it is a flexible approach, it can yield too many, too few, or irrelevant results.
To find subject headings for your topic:
Look to see if the database has an online thesaurus to browse for subjects that match your topic (check
the Help screens).
Some databases publish thesauri in print (e.g. Thesaurus of Psychological Index Terms for the PsycInfo
database).
Another way to find subject headings:
Start with a keyword search, using words/phrases that describe your topic.
Browse the results; choose 2 or 3 that are relevant.
Look at the Subject or Descriptor field and note the terms used (write them down).
Redo your search using those terms.
Your results will be more precise than your initial keyword search.
13. OneSearch
OneSearch is a federated search that covers most of
the library's databases and includes books, journal
articles, streaming video, and other types of information
sources. Input keywords into the search box and click
the "Search" button. You can easily narrow the focus of
your search from the "Refine Your Search" filters on the
result page.
