The objective of this work is to contribute to valorization de Nephelium lappaceum by the characterization of kinetics of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum. The seeds were dehydrated until a constant mass respectively in a drying oven and a microwawe oven. The temperatures and the powers of drying are respectively: 50, 60 and 70°C and 140, 280 and 420 W. The results show that the curves of drying of seeds of Nephelium lappaceum do not present a phase of constant kinetics. The coefficients of diffusion vary between 2.09.10-8 to 2.98. 10-8m-2/s in the interval of 50°C at 70°C and between 4.83×10-07 at 9.04×10-07 m-8/s for the powers going of 140 W with 420 W the relation between Arrhenius and a value of energy of activation of 16.49 kJ. mol-1 expressed the effect of the temperature on effective diffusivity.

Diabetes is a rapidly and serious health problem in Pakistan. This chronic condition is associated with serious long-term complications, including higher risk of heart disease and stroke. Aggressive treatment of hypertension and hyperlipideamia can result in a substantial reduction in cardiovascular events in patients with diabetes 1. Consequently pharmacist-led diabetes cardiovascular risk (DCVR) clinics have been established in both primary and secondary care sites in NHS Lothian during the past five years. An audit of the pharmaceutical care delivery at the clinics was conducted in order to evaluate practice and to standardize the pharmacists’ documentation of outcomes. Pharmaceutical care issues (PCI) and patient details were collected both prospectively and retrospectively from three DCVR clinics. The PCI`s were categorized according to a triangularised system consisting of multiple categories. These were ‘checks’, ‘changes’ (‘change in drug therapy process’ and ‘change in drug therapy’), ‘drug therapy problems’ and ‘quality assurance descriptors’ (‘timer perspective’ and ‘degree of change’). A verified medication assessment tool (MAT) for patients with chronic cardiovascular disease was applied to the patients from one of the clinics. The tool was used to quantify PCI`s and pharmacist actions that were centered on implementing or enforcing clinical guideline standards. A database was developed to be used as an assessment tool and to standardize the documentation of achievement of outcomes. Feedback on the audit of the pharmaceutical care delivery and the database was received from the DCVR clinic pharmacist at a focus group meeting.

Micro RNAs (miRNAs) are small non-coding RNAs molecules having approximately 18-25 nucleotides, they are present in both plants and animals genomes. MiRNAs have diverse spatial expression patterns and regulate various developmental metabolisms, stress responses and other physiological processes. The dynamic gene expression playing major roles in phenotypic differences in organisms are believed to be controlled by miRNAs. Mutations in regions of regulatory factors, such as miRNA genes or transcription factors (TF) necessitated by dynamic environmental factors or pathogen infections, have tremendous effects on structure and expression of genes. The resultant novel gene products presents potential explanations for constant evolving desirable traits that have long been bred using conventional means, biotechnology or genetic engineering. Rice grain quality, yield, disease tolerance, climate-resilience and palatability properties are not exceptional to miRN Asmutations effects. There are new insights courtesy of high-throughput sequencing and improved proteomic techniques that organisms’ complexity and adaptations are highly contributed by miRNAs containing regulatory networks. resources at a project site where a solar generating facility will be constructed. Responsible for
managing field team in evaluating the functionality and performance of numerous existing
groundwater wells and the performance of aquifer tests to evaluate available water supply
resources for the planned facility. Follow-on project work included the engineering design of
well surface assemblies and pump installations.
Energex – Melbourne, Australia; Lead Expert Witness (2011-12)
Selected by a key client to serve as Expert Technical Witness for an important, multi-million
dollar legal case in Melbourne, Australia that involved the migration of dangerous levels of
methane gas from a nearby landfill to a residential development. The project involved close
interaction with WorleyParsons corporate management, client attorneys (barristers), and
provincial regulatory officials for a period of two years, and culminated in a successful
settlement for our client.
Solar Reserve – Rice Abandoned Air Base, Rice, California; Technical Lead (2010-14)
Lead Hydrogeologist in the development and implementation of a long-term groundwater
monitoring program for a 150-MW solar thermal power generating project to be
constructed in a remote area of Riverside County. The program is regulated through the
California Energy Commission. Environmental monitoring was designed to: (1) establish pre-
construction Groundwater Level and Quality data, (2) document the project’s water use, and (3)
provide data that could be used to support actions that avoid, minimize, or mitigate impacts to
the Rice Valley groundwater basin storage.

Project Manager and Lead Hydrogeologist on a project involving the characterization of
groundwater resources at the Genesis Solar Power Generation Facility located near Blythe, CA.
Early project activities included the collection of soil samples during drilling for lithologic
characterization, installation of multi-screened water supply wells, performance of aquifer
testing, and the collection of groundwater samples for chemical analyses. Subsequently
managed a long-term environmental monitoring program for the facility designed to: 1)
determine groundwater level and quality during facility construction, 2) determine the
occurrence of any land subsidence that may result from groundwater extraction, and 3) address
California Energy Commission permitting requirements.

business based in Northern California that provided quality environmental consulting services to

with corporate and facility service needs. Developed a computer-based management system to
link specific waste cell construction details and facility operating practices to potential
environmental exposure points (groundwater, surface water, etc.). The application is the first of
its kind, and has been utilized to evaluate the effects of various waste area characteristics and
facility operating practices on leachate and groundwater chemistry. A substantial reduction in
permit violations and penalties has been realized to date by the company.
Also served as Technical Lead on a long-term project administered by Waste Management’s
Corporate Director of Environmental Protection. Performed detailed analyses of regulatory
documents (e.g., Site Operating Plans/Permits, Title V permits, Groundwater Monitoring Plans,

SPCC Plans, NPDES Permits, etc.) for the company’s most active solid waste facilities to
effectively plan and schedule operations, field testing, document submittal, etc. in order to
