Performed as Staff and Field Engineer for a northern Utah petroleum refinery $5MM firewater distribution
system improvements with a build schedule projected over three years. The project included analysis of
existing firewater coverage in accordance with National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) and American
Petroleum Institute (API) requirements. After deficiencies were quantified, large scale proposals were
drafted and presented options to client. Upon client selection, proposal was sectioned into phases to be
aligned with refinery construction season avoiding major project shut downs and turnaround events.
Compiled existing utility information from refinery archives and on site measurements into AutoCAD to
reference in base map. Drafted detailed design plans issued for review and subsequent construction.
Observed construction of new firewater system and assisted with resolving unknown issues. Collected
location information on newly installed firewater system and uncovered utilities using GPS equipment and
survey gear for as-built design. Additional responsibilities included drafting and editing specification
documents and submitting construction observation reports to client.
Performed as Project Engineer for a northern Utah industrial facility. The project included analysis and
repair of a quarter acre double lined pond leaking highly caustic materials. An analysis was conducted to
determine how the product was leaking through the liner. Repair strategies were explored and presented to
client. State regulatory agencies were informed of conditions and repair procedures throughout life of
project. Prepared bid documents and qualified contractors list for client. Provided construction
management throughout project and provided client with as-built design and manufacturer warranty
documentation.
Performed as Project and Field Engineer for municipal entity to address deficiencies identified in a United
States Army Corps of Engineers levee inspection report for a canal in northern Utah. The project spanned
the nine mile canal and included multiple municipal entities, utility companies, industrial companies,
transportation organizations, commercial businesses, small business owners, and private residences.
Project Engineer tasks included preparing project scope and estimates. Systematically working to obtain
necessary information (public/municipal records, land owners, private entities, etc.) through phone, email,
mail to resolve listed deficiencies. Field Engineer tasks included site visits with owner entities to explain
project and work toward an acceptable resolution. Survey location of flagged deficiencies. Compile

project construction specification and bid packets for contractors. Provide project management and
construction oversight. Obtain project progress documentation for historical records.
Performed as Staff and Field Engineer for a northern Utah petroleum refinery and downstream client to
model and design all features needed to install a 500hp vertical pump in a refined products line. Project
scope included geotechnical, structural, environmental, mechanical, electrical, operations, and control
systems disciplines. Our firm acted as project manager over geotechnical, structural, and mechanical
components subcontracting and managing specific tasks to others. Staff engineer duties included
corresponding between client, subcontractors, and other engineers on the project to ensure all component
details were according to client scope. Duties also included preparation of civil site layout construction
drawings, compiling project specifications, and reviews of subcontractor design. Field engineer duties
included multiple site surveys to gather specific modeling and design details, meeting with utility entities to
identify known utilities in the project area, site locating of project features for client review.
Performed as Staff and Field Engineer for project involving a one acre clay lined retention pond. During a
maintenance dredging event, the clay liner was penetrated which resulted in the pond’s inability to retain
water. Field Engineer tasks included gathering site information (inlet, outlet, high water mark, leak
location, etc.) and conducting a topographic site survey. Staff Engineer tasks included preparation of
construction drawings, notes, specifications, and preparing an engineer’s cost estimate for the work.
Performed as Staff, Field, and Environmental Engineer providing emergency response and remedial
support of diesel release from a northern Utah pipeline at a State Park. Field engineer tasks included
quantifying a total spill volume and subsequent cleanup volumes during the cleanup phase. Environmental
engineer tasks included frequent soil and water sampling to determine initial contamination levels and
compliance with project cleanup requirements as determined by federal, state, and local agencies. Staff
engineer tasks included remedial civil design support, site layout, survey of sampling data locations,
compilation of site data (environmental sampling and volume calculations).
Staff Engineer assisting Project Manager and Field Engineer with as-constructed design of refinery Phase
VI and VII firewater distribution system. Project included representing the following precisely in
AutoCAD: pipe alignment, valves, hydrants, utility features, and existing conditions.
Staff Engineer assisting Senior Engineers with refinery firewater system upgrade for sensitive unit with
robotic fire suppression equipment. Project included review of detail designs, pipe alignment, and client
progress meetings.
Project Engineer for establishing a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) for a northern Utah
industrial facility. The project included compiling archived SWPPP documentation, creating a site map,
organizing report according to state regulations, communicating with regulatory agency, recommending
improvements to prevent stormwater pollution discharge, and site inspections
Prepared legal descriptions for new lode claim sites for a central Utah mining company as a Staff Engineer.
The project included the use of Public Land Survey System (PLSS) data and coordination with applicable
state and federal agencies.
Provided remedial field engineering support for crude oil release from a pipeline in an urban setting. The
project included post cleanup sampling of effected stream as well as comparative watershed sampling of
other nearby streams. Project included engineering design and construction support for land owners
impacted by release.
Staff Engineer assisting senior engineers with traffic signage type and location along a 4 mile county road
which services mine reclamation projects. Duties included: identifying appropriate location and spacing;
drafting sign and installation details; and project drawing revisions. Conducted preliminary intersection
design for the county road and state highway junction.

Project Engineer for an access road to service a future waste rock site for a coal mining company. Design
included connection to an existing county road. Challenges included maintaining a low cost road while
accounting for natural site features such as road grade, nearby hills, and creek beds.
Project/Field Engineer for assessing roadway impact of pipeline construction activities in a mountainous
region. Recommended roadway drainage features, channels, culverts, and improvements to return the
roadways to a preconstruction state.
Field Engineer assisting Project Manager with collecting data for critical lift at northern Utah petroleum
refinery. Project included on-site surveying of existing conditions and communication with contractors and
client.
Compile hazardous waste profile for industrial client in accordance with federal regulatory requirements.
Staff Engineer duties included gathering historical hazardous waste data for a two year period and
corresponding with federal regulatory agency.
Spill response support for a Southern Idaho industrial client. Project entailed detail design of a soil vapor
extraction network, including procurement of materials, and supply ordering.
