1. Supporting Sailors and Their Families
Expeditionary Combat Readiness Center (ECRC)
provides proactive support to Navy Individual
Augmentees (IA) and Ad-Hoc units employed in or
in support of Overseas Contingency Operations.
ECRC directly assists IA Sailors by supervising
the Continental United States (CONUS) portion of
the IA process to include uniforming, equipping,
combat skills and mission specific training, and
deployment. ECRC also provides continual reach
back support throughout the IA process including in-
theater mission tracking, administrative support, and
weapon and gear return and re-utilization.
ECRC is the administrative parent command for
IA Sailors with GWOT Support Assignment (GSA)
orders. The normal GSA population is approximately
3,000 Sailors at any one time.
ECRC provides reach-back administrative support to all IAs on IA-related issues during their tour.
Expeditionary Combat Readiness Center:
• Assigns action officers (AOs) to IA mission groups. The AOs oversee the execution of mission readiness,
training curriculum and schedules, and individual Sailor support as required. AOs serve as an advocate for
the Sailor and are there to provide direction and advice.
• Provides Navy liaison officer (LNO) teams to Army training sites to coordinate with Army trainers and
support staff while also assisting Sailors with berthing, transportation, pay, and over-all individual Sailor
readiness.
• Closely interfaces with Navy Component Combatant Commanders on deployed IAs and their required
support, both per individual and mission.
• Coordinates with the U.S. Central Command Warrior Transition Program in Kuwait that provides logistical,
administrative and medical support to the redeploying IA Sailor. ECRC’s efforts with WTP in conjunction with
CONUS processes save the Navy more than $16 million annually in equipment costs.
• Coordinates logistic support for IA Sailors going through the deployment and demobilization process.

ECRC’s Individual Augmentee (IA) Family Support Program
IA Family and Sailor First
• Serves as a conduit for the Individual Augmentee family while
the IA Sailor is completing required training in the United States,
preparing for deployment, supporting missions in overseas
theaters and returning home.
• Provides an email Help Desk for assistance with general
questions, resources and referrals, and a 24-hour toll-free
emergency hotline if family members need immediate help
while their IA Sailor is deployed.
• Provides a website with frequently asked questions and access
to a network of family support links and useful information.
“I know that both the active and the reserve component Sailors are grateful for the IA program
... that they get the advanced notice that is required, that they get the training that is required
and that their families get the type of support that is so important when a young man or woman
deploys as an individual. It’s truly a great accomplishment in these times, but it was also an
improvement that we could not afford not to carry through.”
Admiral Gary Roughead
Chief of Naval Operations, July 24, 2009
