E-learning refers to learning facilitated by electronic resources like the internet. It is empowered by digital technology and computer-enhanced learning beyond traditional classroom-based learning. E-learning can support traditional teaching by making resources available online or it can completely replace the classroom with virtual learning. Communication in e-learning can be asynchronous through email or synchronous through live chat rooms. E-learning has advantages like flexibility and individualized instruction but also disadvantages like requiring technical skills and infrastructure.
