A summary of a talk at CPPA-2018 by Luc Tengueu: Urbanization, the emergence of Transportation Network Companies (TNCs) such as Uber and Lyft, and increased bicycle, pedestrian traffic are all putting pressure on city infrastructures. Because there is increasingly less real estate available for road expansion, the curb is quickly becoming a strategic asset for many entities such as cities, airports, hotels, public venues and universities.

Using an Innovative Model to Automate an Efficient Taxi Dispatching System in...Dr. Amarjeet Singh
The world is rapidly changing with the introduction
of innovative technologies to meet the ever-changing demands
of consumers. This research focuses mainly on the study of
the actual taxi system in Mauritius to manage their everyday
activities in an efficient way to earn a good and a decent
earning. With over 6000 drivers in Mauritius, this has caused
a major issue in the transportation sector. According to the
survey conducted in Shanghai, China, the percentage of
empty miles ((total miles-service miles)/total miles) for taxi is
32%, while the waiting time for passenger may extend more
than 1 hour in the rush hours at the worst. The taxi employed
under this actual system is rarely capable of reaching the
customers in the shortest possible time. This is an exigent
problem actually confronting current taxi systems. Thus, an
alternative Interactive Taxi dispatching system is proposed,
whereby the system will be fast and cost effective to transfer
the customer’s request from the operator to the most suitable
vehicle. This dispatch ensures that customers are served
within the shortest time, resulting in satisfying customer’s
demands. Since existing taxi system are working manually,
there is a need to have automatic taxi trip system which
would be easy and efficient. [14] Therefore, the aim of this
paper is to research the pertinence of the use of an Interactive
Taxi Dispatching System as an alternative mode for taxi
drivers to easily be connected with their riders.
The Railways Budget for 2015-16 has been presented in Parliament by the Honourable Union Minister for Railways, Suresh Prabhu, wherein the Government has proposed a five-year investment outlay of Rs 8.5 trillion.
This document gives a summary analysis of the Railway Budget.
The Railway Budget signifies the priority accorded to the development of the railways as an engine of India’s growth and development. The Operating Ratio (proportion of revenues that Railways spends on operations) has been targeted at 88.5% for 2015-16, which has been consistently above 90% for the past five years. According to Budget Estimates, Plan Outlay for 2015-16 has been proposed at Rs 1.1 trillion, an increase of 52% over 2014-15. The budget also described its plan to procure money from debt raised by new holding companies or by railways-owned companies.
The Minister also presented a White Paper on Indian Railways before tabling the Rail Budget and he is likely to release a vision 2030 document soon. These documents and the government’s bid to become more consumer-focused, both towards passengers and freight customers is being seen as a step away from politics and towards reform.
Improvements in information technology related technologies are encouraging and enabling greater use of public transportation and they are enabling new forms of transportation systems that have lower carbon emissions and use less resources. Improvements in information-related technologies such as mobile phones and GPS encourage greater use of public buses, bicycle sharing systems, and trains. These same improvements are making autonomous vehicles economically feasible and roads dedicated to them. Roads dedicated to them can reduce congestion, increase fuel efficiency, and reduce accidents and costs related to them. In combination with public transportation, autonomous vehicles can reduce the need for private vehicles and thus parking spaces. Similar types of improvements in power electronics are reducing the cost and improving the performance of charging stations and thus enable more rapid recharging with a denser number of charging stations. This rapid and more frequent recharging can overcome the existing bottleneck of lower battery storage densities and slow improvements in these storage densities. Overall, improvements in information technology are making possible new forms of sustainable systems that have a much higher chance of becoming economically feasible than more commonly discussed solutions such as hybrid vehicles and wind turbines.
Modern Transport problems arise when it is difficult behavior in A system according to the best possible pattern, being affected by traffic, human errors or accidents. In such cases, unpredictability can be helped by AI SERVICES
Recently, rates of vehicle ownership have risen globally, exacerbating problems including air pollution,
lack of parking, and traffic congestion. While many solutions to these problems have been proposed,
Carpooling is one of the most effective solutions to this problems Recently, several carpooling
platforms have been built on cloud computing systems, with originators posting online list of
departure/arrival points and schedules from which participants can search for rides that match their
needs. In this paper, an improved carpool system is described in detail and called the improved
intelligent carpool system (IICS), which provides car poolers the use of the carpool services via a smart
handheld device anywhere and at any time. This IICS Consist the geographical, traffic, and societal
information and used to manage requests and find minimum route. We apply advanced genetic-based
carpool route and matching algorithm (AGCRMA) for this multiobjective optimization problem called
the carpool service problem (CSP).

Cosmetic shop management system project report.pdfKamal Acharya
Buying new cosmetic products is difficult. It can even be scary for those who have sensitive skin and are prone to skin trouble. The information needed to alleviate this problem is on the back of each product, but it's thought to interpret those ingredient lists unless you have a background in chemistry.
Instead of buying and hoping for the best, we can use data science to help us predict which products may be good fits for us. It includes various function programs to do the above mentioned tasks.
Data file handling has been effectively used in the program.
The automated cosmetic shop management system should deal with the automation of general workflow and administration process of the shop. The main processes of the system focus on customer's request where the system is able to search the most appropriate products and deliver it to the customers. It should help the employees to quickly identify the list of cosmetic product that have reached the minimum quantity and also keep a track of expired date for each cosmetic product. It should help the employees to find the rack number in which the product is placed. It is also Faster and more efficient way.

Hierarchical Digital Twin of a Naval Power SystemKerry Sado
A hierarchical digital twin of a Naval DC power system has been developed and experimentally verified. Similar to other state-of-the-art digital twins, this technology creates a digital replica of the physical system executed in real-time or faster, which can modify hardware controls. However, its advantage stems from distributing computational efforts by utilizing a hierarchical structure composed of lower-level digital twin blocks and a higher-level system digital twin. Each digital twin block is associated with a physical subsystem of the hardware and communicates with a singular system digital twin, which creates a system-level response. By extracting information from each level of the hierarchy, power system controls of the hardware were reconfigured autonomously. This hierarchical digital twin development offers several advantages over other digital twins, particularly in the field of naval power systems. The hierarchical structure allows for greater computational efficiency and scalability while the ability to autonomously reconfigure hardware controls offers increased flexibility and responsiveness. The hierarchical decomposition and models utilized were well aligned with the physical twin, as indicated by the maximum deviations between the developed digital twin hierarchy and the hardware.

CFD Simulation of By-pass Flow in a HRSG module by R&R Consult.pptxR&R Consult
CFD analysis is incredibly effective at solving mysteries and improving the performance of complex systems!
Here's a great example: At a large natural gas-fired power plant, where they use waste heat to generate steam and energy, they were puzzled that their boiler wasn't producing as much steam as expected.
R&R and Tetra Engineering Group Inc. were asked to solve the issue with reduced steam production.
An inspection had shown that a significant amount of hot flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes, where the heat was supposed to be transferred.
R&R Consult conducted a CFD analysis, which revealed that 6.3% of the flue gas was bypassing the boiler tubes without transferring heat. The analysis also showed that the flue gas was instead being directed along the sides of the boiler and between the modules that were supposed to capture the heat. This was the cause of the reduced performance.
Based on our results, Tetra Engineering installed covering plates to reduce the bypass flow. This improved the boiler's performance and increased electricity production.
It is always satisfying when we can help solve complex challenges like this. Do your systems also need a check-up or optimization? Give us a call!
Work done in cooperation with James Malloy and David Moelling from Tetra Engineering.
