1. Inverter based Monitoring
Some inverters come with provision of internet connectivity and its data is
sent directly to the inverter company’s monitoring portal
• Portfolio Management not possible
• No standard data - different inverter brands have different
features/user interface/data options.
• Limited software features
• Auto/Remote relay control not possible without external controller
2. SCADA based Monitoring
Dedicated SCADA system is installed. Data collected at a central server can
be accessed on local software of through web portal, remotely.
• High Cost (not feasible for kW scale rooftop systems)
• Expertise required in installation (often subcontracted to 3rd parties)
• Frequent issues with software installation, User Interface and utility.
• Limited Portfolio Management features
