The Importance Of Uniforms In School
In many schools around the United States, multiple females are told that their choice
of clothing is inappropriate and distracting to the male students. In some cases, girls
admit that being told to change or being sent home sometimes lowers their self
esteem, especially when the boys are also breaking dress codebut are not getting in
trouble for it. Girls are told that a boys educationis more important than their own.
Even though most young men will admit they are not distracted by the clothing
girls wear, the excuse, boys will be boys is used to disregard their behavior and are
not punished for their actions. Young women are being sexuallized for the
clothing they wear and are being told they need to cover up for the sake of their
safety, instead of teaching young men to control themselves. As women, we are
told to cover our bodies and not show anything that society says is inappropriate
that could potentially distract a boy. On public school campuses, young girls are
told that even the slightest bit of skin is inappropriate. They are told that their
shoulders, mid thighs and midriffs are considered distracting to a boy s learning
environment. Ellen Friedrichs said in 2014, Any confidence and pride she might
take in her appearance is automatically stripped from her when she is dressed
inappropriately. Young girls are being body shamed for being confident in their own
skin. Over 70% of girls ages 15 to 17 avoid normal daily activities, such as attending
school,
The Growth Of The World Population
Overview
When considering the growth of the world s population there Is a concentrated look
at Four Main factors with a fifth element now ,slowly becoming a large factor. They
are fertility rates, mortality rates (life expectancy), the initial age profile of the
population (whether it is comparatively old or relatively young to begin with),
migration, and now religion, where focus is placed on migrating to or from a
particular faction.
The forces behind population change
Population Change:A view at Growth
Fertility has been on a slow descent over the last decade and is expected to continue
declining. As a result, the world,s population rate is also slowing down. But from the
year 2010 2050 ,the world s population is expected to rise some 35%.That is
approximately 2 Billion people.Fertility patterns may differ between countries, and
larger geographic locations for a myriad of reasons, including cultural
standards, degrees of economic improvement, education systems and government
policies that encourage ,or discourage, family planning. Female reproductive rates
may also be a result of infant fatality rates, participation in the labor market, income
levels and social status, among other factors.( Main Factors Driving Population
Growth | Pew Research Center, 2015)
Life Expectancy, which is the expected life term we are given from infancy, has been
on the up rise, and is expected to continue its ascent over the next four
decades.Research has shown that people are living longer, due
Ministry Of Love
Nineteen Eighty Four is one of the most famous dystopian novels written by George
Orwell in 1949. This novel depicts a desperate society where the public is
manipulated by the government coercion. Although this novel is fictional, but we
have seen many scenes depicted in the novel come true in some countries around the
world. Under government coercion, the protagonist Winston lives a miserable life
with no freedom even in his own thoughts, because everyone is forced to believe
what the government told them instead of developing their own thoughts. However,
Winston is different from the crowd because he has a rebel heart. He holds his
independent thinking, and refuse to accept the party s brainwashing procedures.

From Winston s response to O Brien s questions in the previous paragraph, it is
demonstrated that he is determined in the revolution, and he is not afraid of
anything but losing Julia. Winston is tortured in the Ministry of Love, but the
torture only destroys his body, his mind is never destroyed. It is the same for all
the prisoners in the Ministry of Love. However, when the prisoners are told that
they will be taken to room 101, they all appear desperate and mentally destroyed.
When the skull faced man is told that he will be sent to room 101, he cried
Comrade! Officer! You don t have to take me to that place! Haven t I told you
everything already? What else is it you want to know? There s nothing I wouldn t
confess, nothing! Just tell me what it is and I ll confess straight off. Write it down
and I ll sign it anything! Not room 101! (Orwell 298). The fact that he would do
anything to prevent himself from going to room 101 illustrates the anticipation of
going to room 101 destroys their mind. The man is starved for weeks, but he
would rather be starved to death than taken to room 101 (Orwell 299). Winston
witnesses the man s desperation, and it builds up his fear of being sent to room
101. Therefore, Winston asks O Brien what is in Room 101? in fear, and O Brien s
answer adds up to his fear You know what is in Room 101, Winston. Everyone knows

Methicillin-Resistant Mythoiccus Aureus (MRSA)
Antibiotic resistance which can be defined as the ability of bacteria and other
microorganisms to resist the effects of an antibiotic to which they were once
sensitive.8 Antibiotic resistance mainly results from misuse of antibiotics which can
be categorized as intensive and extended use of antibiotics in human and veterinary
treatments where antibiotics were not required and improper disposal of antibiotics
in both hospital environment and community which in turn results an environmental
impact too.
Among the resistant bacterial strains Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus Aureus
(MRSA) is the major resistant pathological strain which is resistant to almost all
antibiotics available in the world in turn very difficult to cure and life threatening. ...

Intrinsic resistance is achieved by spontaneous gene mutation through replication
where acquired resistance results as an adaptation technique when bacteria in contact
with antibiotic. Pathogenic bacteria can gain resistance through several mechanisms
such as acquire modification of active site of the bacteria in turn results in reduction
in the efficacy of binding of the drug, direct modification or destruction of antibiotic
by enzymes produced by bacteria or efflux of antibiotic from the bacterial cell through
efflux pumps. Bacterial species accomplish spreading the resistance through
horizontal gene transfer mechanisms such as transformation, transduction and
conjugation via plasmids.
Antibiotic resistance has evolved as a result of the interactions between bacteria and
antibiotic after an antibiotic exposure. Bacterial species are capable of adapting to
new antibiotic as simply as they adapt to new environments due to their amazing
genomic plasticity. This in turn results antibiotic resistance to be very dynamic and
unpredictable. Every year, almost 100,000 Americans die from antibiotic resistant
infections acquired from hospitals, largely because of the reduced effectiveness of
existing drugs, due to the development and propagation of drug resistance
A Music Faculty Recital At Prince George s Community
College
A Music Faculty Recital at Prince George s Community College was actually the
very first concert I ve been to that included Baroque style. The environment created
a nostalgic yet modern and elegant mood; something that made you feel like you
were in the late 1700 s yet still in modern times. The songs were mostly enjoyable
and we re all well played. This concert included an ensemble: the flute, the cello, the
piano, and the harpsichord. Peggy Bair, who played the flute, was very enthusiastic.
Irma Cripe, who played the cello, was quiet for the first part of the concert but
gradually became more important throughout the concert. And lastly, the virtuous
Gary Kirkeby, who played the piano and harpsichord, served as the backbone of all
parts of the concert and made this concert very enjoyable.
When the concert first began, the three instrumentalists walked with energy despite
their age. The first song, Sonata I in G Major Op. 2, Nr. 1 by Michel Blavet, was a
Baroque Sonata. There were five movements and was played by the harpsichord,
flute, and cello. All movements of the song were polyphonic because of the three
instruments that had different parts and equal importance. In the first movement, I
noticed that the flute tended to rise in pitch. In the second movement, I noticed that
the melodies often repeated. Throughout the rest of the song the tempo changed from
fast to slow and the flute would usually take the lead. On the last movement, the cello
and the harpsichord
Essay on No Tax Dollars for Religious Education
No Tax Dollars for Religious Education
Tax dollars are your money at work. Do you want your money to go to fund private
religious schools? Tax dollars should not fund religious education because it is a
violation of the separation of church and state clause of the first amendment to the
constitution.
Lately we have seen proposals for vouchers. These vouchers are public money given
to low income family so they may send their kids to private schools. Most of the
schools who use this program are religious. In the Cleveland voucher program we see
there were 3,761 children are enrolled and 96 percent of those children are attending
religious schools. Also 82 percent of the participating schools were sectarian. This
voucher ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bush s education bill by a 58 to 41 vote.
Private schools would be taking necessary money away from publics schools. As the
ACLU notices vouchers would essentially drain the public school system of tens of
millions of dollars. Public schools rely on only tax dollars to fund their schools
therefore taking it away and giving it to already profiting private schools could be
disastrous. By choosing to be a private school it means it is nonpublic and therefore
should not be aloud to accept public funds.
Another problem with the voucher programs is the issue of civil rights. Private
schools are aloud to choose who they let in their school therefore being able to
privately discriminate. If public dollars are going into these schools there has to be
anti discriminatory codes set up for the schools to abide by so everyone has a free
chance.
Some would say the money we give to the parents is not being used in religious
ways and so it does not violate the separation of church and state. It could be used
for the bus, which transports them to and from school everyday or for books. But
you can t regulate what the money you give a person is spent on. It could be used
for schooling or even the book they buy with it may be a religious book.
Another good point about the vouchers is they give under privileged children a
chance to choose the school they would want to attend. But they could use the money
they are giving to the child to leave the school to fix it
Differential Equations Of A Nonlinear System
5.1 Linearization
It can be seen clearly by the system s equation that the model belongs to a nonlinear
system. Normal differential equations can be created by the conversion of the
system into state space model format. When a control law is designed, Lagrange
equations of motion (9) are reformatted. To be able to carry this out, a state vector is
introduced which is as follows. x= (Оё Оё М‡ )^T
To be able to apply the LQR technique on the system, linearization is important.
Therefore the nonlinear model of the system turns into: Оё М€= D^( 1) CОё М‡ D^(
1) G+D^( 1) Hu (14)
After putting the variables of the system matrices in the above generalisation and
their derivatives, the system equation is as follows: x М‡=(в– (0 I@0 D^( 1)
C))x+(в– (0@гЂ– DгЂ—^( 1) C))+(в– (0@D^( 1) H))u (15)
Where I and 0 are identity and zero matrices respectively.
The system equation can be rewritten as: x М‡=f(x)+g(x)u (16)
Where
f(x)=(в– (0 I@0 D^( 1) C))x+(в– (0@гЂ– DгЂ—^( 1) C)) (17) g(x)=(в– (0@D^( 1)
H)) (18)

Could Pearl Harbor Have Been Prevented
Yesterday, December seventh, 1941, a date which will live in infamy, the United
States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of
the Empire of Japan. We will gain the inevitable triumph, so help us God (Franklin
D. Roosevelt). Franklin D. Roosevelt said this during his speech on December 8,
1941, addressing the Pearl Harbor attack. During his speech he explains how the
United Statesof America will defend itself but will make it very certain that this
form of treachery shall never again endanger us. Furthermore says no matter how
long it takes to overcome this invasion, the American people will win through
absolute victory ( American Rhetoric ). On December 7, 1941, a total of 18 naval
vessels heavily damaged or destroyed, 188 planes destroyed, and over 2,000
servicemen killed. That Sunday morning, began as a normal day for millions of
Americans, but suddenly everything changed. As the news flashed from coast to
coast, the bombing of Pearl Harbor mushroomed into a natural disaster. People
could scarcely believe the reports pouring out of their radios. How could it have
happened? Who was to blame? What could be done to guard against surprise attacks
in the future? There were no easy answers, no quickly forged consensus ( Butow ).

Personal Error was a major cause to Pearl Harbor, if the codebreakers were able to
break the codes, it might not have happened. Lack of regard was mostly on the
U.S. government for not investigating more on the Japanese Americans on the

Harbor, the Japanese developed newer weapons that the U.S. has not seen yet,
which gave them an advantage. By all record, if all of these issues would have been
taken care of sooner, Pearl Harbor could have been

Subject: Module 3 Research Certification Essay In order to maintain well organized
and managed processes, every organization will need to implement some form of
inspection methods or adhere to inspections set forth by overarching authorities. For
airports serving, or intending to serve, air carrier operations, the Federal Aviation
administration s (FAA) Regulations 14 CFR Part 139 defines specific policies,
activities, and standards for airfield operations management that are required for
compliance (Wells Young, 2011). In addition, the FAA Advisory Circular (AC) 150
/5200 18C provides information to airportoperators on airport self inspection
programs and identifies items that airport operators should include in such a program
(U.S. Department of Transportation, 2004). Using these two references, applicable
airports are equipped to conduct self inspections, which are vital to ensuring safe
operations and compliance with stated requirements. The U.S. Government
Publishing Office details the FAA 14 CFR Part 139 on its website, which spells out
the frequency that the airport must be inspected. It provides that this should be done
daily, except as otherwise required by the Airport Certification Manual, when required
by any unusual condition, such as construction activities or meteorological
conditions, that may affect safe air carrier operations, and immediately after an
accident or incident (U.S. Government Publishing Office, 2016). In essence, the

Emma Critical Incident
Cultural differences are also an important aspect of the critical incident as mother was
from a Pakistan and had recently moved to England. Emma was from Pakistan has
had only been in the country for a year and was finding it difficult to adjust and
integrate into her community.. According to research migrant women experience
feelings of great sadness, vulnerability, loneliness, isolation and wishing for family
members to be around during the perinatal period (Drennan and Joseph, 2005).
Emma did not know about the services available in the community such as children
centres and sure start for support and had to be sign posted by the health visitor to
these services. Gender and ethnicity are important factors which influence the
vulnerability of a person. As a womanfrom Pakistan origin, motherhood signifies your
importance and value in the society. Barns and Maple (1992) show how women hope
that motherhood can give them identity and value as women.
Therefore having a pre term baby was not seen as a norm in their culture. MIND
(2013) states that women who lack social support especially if they are single parent
or recent immigrant are at risk of postnatal depression (PND) which relates to Emma.

relationship has been considered the foundation of successful home visiting programs

The Boomerang Effect: For individuals who are not kidding about getting in shape,
it is by and large not very hard to figure out how to drop a noteworthy number of
pounds. Be that as it may, it is difficult to trick the body for long. In a dominant part
of cases, not exclusively do individuals put on back all the weight they figured out
how to lose, they wind up including a bigger number of pounds than they conveyed
in any case. Why does this happen?
Individuals erroneously view being overweight or fat as an issue unto itself, as
opposed to seeing it for what it truly is, which is an indication of weakness, and also a
hidden unsettling influence with the digestion system of protein, starch, and fat.

the body. The key to changeless weight reduction exists in a program that has been
outlined, as a matter of first importance, to fabricate wellbeing.
The program needs to methodicallly manage the basic medical problems that are

recuperation stage you standardize your absorption, end, and other substantial
capacities. This sets you up for the remaking stage. It is in this stage where you
revamp your wellbeing starting from the earliest stage and from the back to front.
The advantages are that the pounds drop off effectively and easily, and stay off for

Bomb Calorimeter Essay
Bomb calorimeter The Usages Introduction:
Like other calorimeters, the bomb calorimeter is used to measure the amount of heat
that is released by an exothermic reaction. The term bomb refers to its usage of a
sealed container that contains an even smaller container within that can endure high
pressures. Inside the smaller container which is surrounded by water, the reaction
takes place.
The main difference between a bomb calorimeter and all the other types of
calorimeter is that the change in enthalpy (О”H) isn t being measured. Instead, the
change in internal energy(О”U) is measured.
q reaction = (q water + q bomb)
A bomb calorimeter is made up of:
the bomb to contain the reaction
the water bath
stirrer

How Did The Renaissance Affect Society
The Renaissance changed our world.
Not what man knows but what man feels, concerns art. All else is science. (http:/
/history world.org/renaissance.htm ) The Renaissance was an important time period
in our history; it marked the beginning of a new era. The Renaissance affected the
entire world. Many things were effected by the Renaissance: art, social interaction,
education, religion and many other things as well. There are many things that we do
and don t know about the Renaissance because, we no longer live in that time period.
Did the Renaissance have a positive effect on society? In this paper there will be

Humanism, is the emphasis of the study and enjoyment of worldly things, not
spiritual matters. ( streams of Civilization pg. 362) The idea of humanism started
in the Renaissance, it spread and developed quickly. Many men devoted their lives
to the study of humanism. today many people are humanist, especially in the U.S.
it is something that people grow up with. Humanism turned people from God,
instead of focusing on Christ and what he had done for us, people started to focus
more and more on themselves and what they wanted not caring what other thought.
Another thing that was bad thing in the Renaissance was the Renaissance man, it
was a person that was studied in all branches of study at the time. It set unrealistic
standards for most people. Some of the people who were considered Renaissance
men were unhappy, one such person was Leonardo Da Vinci who was an
accomplished scientist, artist, mathematician, philosopher, engineer, and many
other fields of study, but was a very unhappy person. (Remember the days:
Medieval days pg. 298) Today, we have an unrealistic idea of how people should
look and act, some of the things that are around today were influenced by the
Renaissance. The idea of humanism, and unrealistic standards were started by the
Renaissance. Today there is a society where most people care a lot about
themselves and how they look on the outside many. The Renaissance had its good
and bad it helped move the world forward but, in some ways it also drove it
Explain How People Respond With Bravery
People respond to natural disasters with bravery in dangerous situations and
compassion for those victims in need. I personal think that in natural disasters
people do need to respond with bravery . People that respond with bravery have
more time to help themselves and help other people to. People cant be scared of
whats going to happen because the more time you take the less time you have to
survive. Some people dont understand how to react to a natural disaster situation lets
just say that your actions are probably life or death. People dont understand that all
the discussion you make could have a bad impact most because you wont know what
to do. You need to plan out your situation and notice whats going on. Say if there
Motor Recruitment Theory
1. Ok so the sliding filament theory is basically the contraction of the sacromere.
Calcium released from an ion channel bind to troponin which lies on the thick
filament known as the actin. This then causes the tropomyosin to reveal on the actin.
The myosin head then releases a phosphate from an ATP which causes then forms a
cross bridge attaching both thick and thin filament. Causing one musclecontraction.
2. The motor recruitment theory explains the use of multiple muscle fibers such as
type 1, type 2, and type 2 b muscle fibers during different physical activities. Each
person has all three of the fibers but, they may be more versatile in one then the
others. For example, I have more type 2 b (known as fast twitch glycolytic fibers)

Secondly the major differences between large and small companies have also been
discussed in this report, that what are those criteria which separate large companies
from small? And the last part discusses the role which the organizations are playing in
the progress of regulation of companies in Australia. The main purpose of these
procedures is to bring uniformity in the regulatory system of Australian companies.

This type of company is only in Australia, specifically for the mining companies. It
can be differentiated by any of the traditional companies their stakeholders are not
responsible to pay calls on unpaid shares. Purchasing of their shares is supposed to
bind the shareholders into a binding contract because of high degree of risk in the
business of mining.
4.Unlimited Companies:
Such type of companies formed with or without a shared capital, but the liabilities of
the members are unlimited. At the time of company s liquidation for the payment of
financial liabilities the members of the company are obligated to settle those
liabilities.
Proprietary (Private) Companies:
Private companies don t have shares for general public. In case of selling their
shares to a new shareholder requires approval from board of directors and with their
mutual consent company s shares can be transferred to any new shareholder. Such
companies are required to have at least one member up to the maximum limit of fifty
members. These companies can be recognized as Pty Ltd in the last of their names.
Private companies are further divided into two types:

Tax Base Miami
Tax Base Miami MLA People living in Miami are in the face of danger, and for the
most part they are not aware of it. Due to high population, Miami is the fourth
largest city to become affected by sea level rise. (Ankum et al.) In the next 32 50
years, sea level is expected to rise by as much as two feet. (Ankum et al.) This two
foot rise will have detrimental effects on the urban settings of Miami. The amount of
soil erosion that is undergoing at our beaches will greatly increase if a two foot rise
occurs. At a four foot rise, road connectivity would begin to become affected. At a six
foot rise, Southern Floridawould no longer be habitable as it would, for the most
part, be underwater. Not much is being invested in mitigation efforts, most of what
is being done are short term solutions. Instead of coming up with ideas to prevent
and try to slow down the effects of climate change on our environment, we are
focusing on ideas such as building up a sea wall, relocating power plants, and
redesigning structures. Climate isn t the only thing changing, our environments are
changing too. Our lakes are becoming polluted and eutrophic (Scavia et al.), which
causes the overgrowth of algae and death of many of the species found within the
lakes. Here in Miami, water has an important role in the value of housing by real
estate buyers. (McCormick et al.) Imagine building two houses of identical shape and
size. One house is built around a neighborhood devoid of water sources and the
Mozart s Requiem at the Hall Auditorium
Mozart s Requiem
The concert this year took place on Saturday March 15, 2014 at Hall Auditorium at
7:30 PM. It was called Mozart s Requiem. Before the Requiem there was a brief
piece titled The Strauss Serenade. The Miami University Symphony Orchestra
conducted by Ricardo Averbach, the Chamber Singers conducted by William
Bausano, and the Collegiate Chorale conducted by Jeremy D. Jones performed the
Requiem.
The main similarity between Requiem, Opera and Oratorio is that they are all
complex works of music. An Opera is generally a kind of music that borrows a lot
from the art scenes. Opera involves a lot of acting, scenery and also a lot of
costumes are used during its performance. An opera piece can also involve dancing
and it is often done in a theatre setting. During the Baroque Era, opera
performances gained a lot of publicity especially in Italy. It involved a lot of comic
dances, which was the main attraction to the audiences. As years went by, the actors
came up with high level of costume design, which helped to raise the competition
among these works even higher (Meetze). The people held the authors of opera
pieces at that time in high esteem, and they remained influential individuals in the
society. On the other hand, Oratorio is a kind of opera that does not involve use of
costumes and play acting. It often involves topics, which one would consider sacred,
so it is most often performed in church. Unlike non oratorio opera whose main topics

California Cuisine Essay
California leads as the largest agricultural powerhouse and farm income in the
United States by providing for consumers over two hundred types of crops; and
represents about 73% of the state s agricultural revenues collected from crops
(Economy of California, 2009). The perception of Californian cuisine is based on the
fact that Californiahas lots of agricultural products from which a variety of fresh
ingredients are made. The foundation of today s Californian cuisine and how it has
flourished in to its current style can be considered very subjective or can be defined
as individual s opinion based on their own experiences .In general, Californian

California is a huge melting pot of different cultures, which not only reflects in
California culture but also in cuisine. The population of California shows dramatic

There are also a growing percentage of multiracial populations. California is much
more diverse than many other states and because of this degree of diversity has

The Passionate Shepherd And The Nymph s Reply
The two poems of The Passionate Shepherd and The Nymph s Reply show
contrasting views on love, nature, time, and the material world. The Passionate
Shepherd shows more about a positive and naive view while in contrast, The
Nymph s Reply is more about a negative and realistic view. The shepherd gave
details that idealized the natural world while the nymph criticized his ideal world.
According to the shepherd, love is innocent. In his eyes, nothing will ever change or
be unpleasant. When he says for thy delight each may morning , he describes the joy
and satisfaction that he would feel every day if she were there with him. The nymph
is more careful and reluctant to go because she knows that the things he offers, will
not last forever.

Container Market Literature Review
1.Literature review:
Several aspects of the container market has been broadly discussed in several studies.
To gain insight in such a broad subject as the container market, the subject container
market is divided in some important parts:
Containerization.
Globalization.
Port efficiency.
Container handling capacity.
Port investments.
Port competition.
Market developments.
1.1 Containerization:
To understand the container market, it is important to understand what the
development of the container market has been. First of all, it is important to
understand what kind of developments there have been in the container market after
it s introduction. The second question that arises is what trend the container market
is following, and if a clear trend can be seen. If a trend can be seen, a conclusion
could be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The double digit growth rates are not possible to maintain and the only growth in the
market could be an improvement of efficiency or the changes in level of economic
activity (Notteboom Rodrigue, 2009).
To link the containerization to the product life cycle a figure is seen below which
shows the above standing phase and the time series in which it can hold up:
Figure 1.1 Graphic view of the product life cycle theory on the container market.

Concluding remarks are that the container market have had minimal developments
after it s introduction, only the markets surrounding the container have been
developed through the years. Secondly, a clear trend can bee seen in the global
container market, and this trend can be explained by the normal product life cycle.
This means that future developments and forecasts should define in what stage of the
life cycle the container market is in on that current time, in order to make reliable
decision concerning the container
Television Has Made A Major Impact On Today s Society
Television has made a major impact on today s society and everywhere you go you
see people watching television. The first successful television set was made in San
Francisco, September 7, 1927 by a twenty one year old inventor named, Philo Taylor
Farnsworth(TV History). Farnsworth struggled a lot throughout his life and after
many legal battles, Farnsworth died in debt from lawsuits in 1971(Philo T.
Farnsworth). Almost ninety years later, a common family tradition is sitting around
the televisionset, watching the hit shows of the day. This tradition has been around
since the television was made a highly marketed product in the 1950s. Many
wonder when prime time television came to be such a big thing for families to
watch. Generations will argue about this topic as long as television is a household
activity. I hope to provide some clarity to the argument and influence people on
their opinion of what era was and is the best era s television has been through.
Some people may say the best time to watch television was when the television
first came out, and sports were broadcasted. Others may say that the current era is
the best era we may ever have due to the mass media featured. I believe, arguably,
the best time for televisions was in the 1950s and 1960s. That era was called the
Golden Age and rightfully so. With historical memories like the Beatles debuting on
The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964, or the debut of the Andy Griffith Show in 1960, and

Persuasive Essay On Borders
Limitless
Borders limit the way we interact and feel about the world around us. Borders are
a kind of protection where when it s crossed a person may feel violated or
uncomfortable. When you first meet someone are your walls put up and surrounded
by electric fences and barbed wire or are the gates wide open? In my childhood, I let
everyone in my life without question. In about eighth grade my insecurities made me
put a cage around my thoughts and my relationships with others. I created a border in
my life that could not be crossed by anyone. I hid myself and ended many
friendships. I didn t let anyone in unless they had a master key into my life.
Imagine a life without borders. What do you think it would feel like if you didn t
always feel uncomfortable in certain situations? Borders are holding you back and
controlling large parts of your life. I would like to meet new people and explore new
fantasies. I don t want to feel uncomfortable or vulnerable when a stranger might
just want to sit and talk about their day with me. Do you ever have a time where
you are walking and you see a person coming towards you? You think they are just
going to pass right by you but they don t and here you are standing face to face with
this person and you both begin to do the dance of what do I do know? , moving from
left to right simultaneously until you just stop completely, look at each other
awkwardly and then finally pass. We ve created that feeling of anxiety and
embarrassment when
Julius Caesar Soundtrack
William Shakespeare is one of the most famous writers to this day. Most of his
plays have been produced into movies lacking a quality soundtrack. Music is what
truly interest you in a movie. Having a poor soundtrack defeats the purpose of
creating the movie. If I were to create a Julius Caesar movie I d start with the
soundtrack. For ACT 1 Scene 1 I picked the song Happy written and performed by
Pharrell Williams. I picked this song because the beginning of the play is happy,
people are excited for Caesar to be coming back. One character said But indeed sir we

Caesar. It might seem crazy what I m about to say Sunshine she s here, you can take

This was an excellent line because Portia eagerly tells him to run to the senate I

Why dost thou stay? For ACT 3 Scene 1 I selected the song The Climb written by

be an uphill battle, Sometimes I m gonna have to lose Ain t about how fast I get

the sadness of Caesar s death. Et tu, BrutГ©? Then fall, Caesar. For ACT 3 Scene 2
I choose the song Hear me written by Ben McKee, Dan Platzman, Dan Reynolds,
and Wayne Sermon. I picked this song because it s about people listening and the
plebeians allowed Brutus to talk while they listen to him. The song says Try to hear
my voice You can leave, now it s your choice This is a great representation of the
current event in the play. A crowd member yells out I ll listen to

Essay on Carthage vs. Rome; the Punic Wars
Carthage vs. Rome; the Punic Wars Over the course of one hundred years the
Mediterranean antiquity was rocked by an ancient cold war between the North
African seafaring state of Carthage, and the newly rising city of Rome located on
the Italian Peninsula. In the course of two major wars and one extended three year
long siege of Carthageitself Rome would conquer its last major foe and turn the
Mediterranean into a Roman lake. As what happens so often, history is written by
the side who wins and in the case of the Punic Wars and Carthage itself most of the
information available today comes from Roman sources and authors whose
knowledge has been passed down through the ages. According to legend Carthage

As opposed to Carthage which was ruled by two kings and a legislative assemble
picked by these kings Rome was one of the world s first republics, the same type of

Like Carthage Rome was a developing, powerful city state keen on controlling the
Mediterranean and collecting the wealth associated with that. As the two nations
expanded and came into contact more and more tensions began to rise and
suspicions turned into hostility in what would be a precursor to the cold war
between the Soviet Union and the United States of the 20th century, Rome and
Carthage would come to compete with one another for supremacy of the known
world. In 288 B.C. a group of mercenaries known as the Mamertines was hired by
the city of Syracuse that was undergoing a revolt. Soon they were defeated by the
loyal inhabitants of Syracuse and applied to both Rome and Carthage for
assistance. Carthage, acting first, offered a garrison to protect the Mamertines, but
they found this offer to be unappealing and turned to Rome to see their offer.
However at this point in time the rivalry between Carthage and Rome became so
fierce that there would be no feasible way to accept assistance from both powers,
Rome acted by sending two legions to occupy Sicily and defeat the
Argumentative Essay On Edward Scissorhands
In Tim Burton s movie, Edward Scissorhands, he claims that when one seems
different from the other, then people do not accept them for who they are because
they are not like them and they are not willing to accept a new change that has
come to their life. He illustrates this by making Edward stand out,so he has him
only wearing black and white whereas all the other people are wearing colourful
clothes; he says that Jim is mad at Edward because Edward stole his girlfriend
from, then he makes fun of him for not being human behind his back because he is
a machine; he moreover implies that Edward looks dark and scary when really he
is sweet, nice, and unique, however, the town is colourful but the people are not,
they are just bland and cruel people. Burton exaggerates the fact that Edward is
different from the others by adding scissors for hands and making him wear all
black and have pale skin making him look like he has a scary look even though he
is sweet like candy, while the townspeople are colourful but cruel like villains; he
additionally points out that people have to tolerate him but Kim has accepted him for
he is, he demonstrates that by letting people know that even though Edward is
different, he can still love. Although the author has advised that everyone should be
treated fairly, he has more suggested that some people are not used the change that
Edward has brought to this town; Burton has advanced that everyone is different and
everyone should be treated fairly no matter what they look like or what problems they
have.
The person that was not fitting in the town, besides the police officer, is Edward. He
is the one that stands out the most in the movie. He wears black clothing and has a
pale white skin with black hair. Throughout the movie, he wears clothes given by
Peg but then rips them up in the end because he wanted to be his true self. The
most ironic thing is that Peg says to Edward to just be himself when she is
changing his face and clothes with makeup and Peg s husband s old clothes. The
townspeople wanted to get rid of him because after a while they were scared that he
would harm someone and that he didn t blend in with everyone else, so they call the
cops and try to get Edward
The Use Of Irony In Everyday Use By Alice Walker
In the story Everyday Use, Alice Walker deals with a young woman who is trying
to find her place in her own heritage. Everyday Use, is narrated by the mother or
Mama, an African American woman living in the deep South of Rural Georgia
with one of her two daughters. The family is living in very poor conditions, they
do not have fancy things, and the mother does all the work herself. The story
begins with Mama and Maggie awaiting on Dee, a college student, to arrive at
home from college. When Dee went off to college she thought that her heritage was
old and out of style, but when she came back home for a visit she insists on taking
many things from home. Dee also changed her name to Wangero, so she would not
have the same name as someone else in her family. She wants these different artifacts
of her heritage because she wants to show them off for fashion and use them for
decorations. Dee points out the things that she thinks will stand out the most, such as
the quilt, dashers, and the benches. Mama or Mrs. Johnson, does not allow Dee to
take anything but the dashers. She knows that Dee will not respectthe things that their
ancestors made. Mama and Maggie respect their heritage very much and does not
want anyone to use the artifacts in the wrong way. In the short storyEveryday Use,
Alice Walker applies the literary technique of irony to emphasize heritage as part
of one daily life. The Johnson family has many problems throughout the household.
Mrs. Johnson has a harsh and difficult life; however, her daughters does not make it
any better. Mama does not have a lot to show for, but what she does have she
appreciates and cares for it very much. The biggest problem would be that Dee
does not respect her heritage and does not want to live at home. Their home was not
that nice, there were many things wrong with it, but that is where it shows your
culture and heritage of your past. Dee left home because she did not like the way
her mama was living, she went off to college to try to better herself. Maggie, the
youngest daughter, is a very dull and unattractive girl. Walker writes,
Have you ever seen a lame animal, perhaps a dog run over by some careless person
rich enough to own a car, sidle up to someone who is

The Concepts Of Power In Michel Foucault, Knowledge And
Power
Discourses have a different set of meanings, metaphors, images and stories so that
together it can create a version of events and representing it in a certain structural
form. Discourses make us see the world in a certain way. Each discourse has a
different story about the topic in question and shows a different way of representing
the topic to the world. Discourses have another suggestion for what we do every day.
Discourses claim that truthand knowledge are not important and is the centre of the
discussion of identity, power and change. There is a notion attitude . Attitude is a
dispositional model that is used in the discipline of psychology and opinions. Michel
Foucaultwas a French philosopher and has a background in psychology. He was
interested in how knowledge and power were used as a shape of social control
through institutions. Discourses displays our knowledge of the world. In Foucault s
view, knowledge and power goes together as a pair. There is a close relationship
between discourse, knowledge and power; this becomes clear through social
practices. An individual s understanding of the relationship between power and
knowledge is that knowledge can raise an individual s power. In Foucault s eyes,
knowledge is connected closely with power. What it is possible for one person to do
to another, under what rights and obligations, is given by the version of events
currently taken as knowledge. Therefore, the power to act in particular ways, to claim
resources, to

are the external world, the superego, and the id. Sigmund Freud. The human mind is
a constant battle between the devious nature of the id, challenges from the external
world, and the moralistic and logical views of the superego. In Lord of the Flies,
William Goldingpresents the notion that both the id and superego have special
circumstances under which they can win over the ego. Golding uses Jack to
symbolize the id, Piggy the superego, and Ralph the ego in order to convey that the
id has only been suppressed by order. Golding uses Ralph to represent the ego in
that he is controlled by the id when order is not present, while the superego
controls him when it is. When Jack enacts his first dance with his hunters, Ralph
acts sensible and calls an assembly. He preaches to the group that the smoke is
more important than the pig... make smoke up there or die (81). Ralph clearly
suppresses the id in one of his first speeches. He voices logic and reason to the
boys, not quick acquisition of pleasure that Jack advocates for. This comes so
easily to him because he is surrounded by the order of the camp, where the
superego rules. Yet, when he is in Jack s world of savagery and barbarism, the id
possesses a notable authority. Ralph, Jack, and a few others are reenacting a pig hunt
when Ralph briefly
Theth Of Elizabeth At Tilbury
This primary source, is a historical text, a transcription of a speech by Elizabeth I,
Queen of England, in fact, there are at least two main versions of this important
speech. To understand the importance of the speech we must remember that at that
time England and Spain have been with intermittent conflicts. At this period Spain,
that was ruled by Philip II and England was ruled by Elizabeth I. The relations
between Elizabeth I and Philip II had always been tough, with a lot of
disagreements: political, economic and religious. Philip had even prepared
England invasion since the beginning of his reign, we know that by 1574 he had
already prepared a flee composed by 300 boats and around 30.000 men in Santander,
under Pedro Menendez de AvilГ©s but the plague were even AvilГ©s died ruined his
purpose. They had religious differences, Philip was catholic while she was protestant.

In an article, Susan Trye, University of Wyoming, describes what she calls the The
myth of Elizabeth at Tilbury , she quotes some writers who had studied Elizabeth s
biography. A steel corselet was found for her to wear and a helmet with white
plumes was given to a page to carry. Bareheaded, the Queen mounted the white
horse. The Earl of Ormonde carried the sword of state before her, Leicester walked
at the horse s bridle, and the page with the helmet came behind, writes Elizabeth
Jenkins in a biography of the 1950s. She rode through their ranks on a huge white
warhorse, armed like a queen out of antiquemythology in a silver cuirass and silver
truncheon. Her gown was white velvet, and there were plumes in her hair like those
that waved from the helmets of the mounted soldiers. (Carolly Erickson s version of
the 1980s). By what she mentions this version is from a letter written by Dr Leonel
Sharp to the Duke of Buckingham in 1623/1624 as he recalled Elizabeth I s famous
Diffusion Of Western Culture In Bhutan
Title: Diffusion of Western Culture in Every Aspects of Traditional Bhutan.
The wave of modernization is inevitable. It has taken over almost the entire world. Of
course there are still countries that have been undaunted by the wave of
modernization. Bhutan for so many years has resisted the wave but the wave is
slowly taking over Bhutan like countless other countries. The diffusion of western
culture in a country poses a great threat to its traditional values, beliefs and practices.
Bhutanese people work hard and buy things that have made their lives easier in many
aspects but this however has affected the country and the people are failing to
maintain the traditional values and customs. Western culture indeed has had an
impact on the traditional values of the Bhutanese people which inevitably are
jeopardizing the country s traditional values and practices.
Bhutanese people work hard and buy things mainly under the influence of western
culture. It is modernization ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an article released by BBC, Rinzin Dorji the head of Sigma cable company said the
children in school were copying wrestling moves and that the children were becoming
more violet (Dorji, 1999 ). After the inception of television broadcasting for the first
time on June 1999, the crime rate increased and the children were influenced to a
large extent. Even preferences of recreational sports for the youth changed. Cline in
the article claims that youth in Bhutan preferred football and American baseball over
national sport of Bhutan, archery. The interesting concept Cline talks about is the
generational gaps . The Bhutanese youth, after Bhutan started with television
broadcasting like English and Hindi songs while on the other hand the elder
Bhutanese were still favoring traditional Bhutanese folk music the zhungdra and
Heroes In Beowulf

Why We Need Heros A hero, a person noted for courageous acts or nobility of
character ( Hero ). A hero shows much more than honor and glory, they sacrifice their
own life to selflessly help out the lives of others. By having heroes it gives us hope,
wisdom, and justice throughout the nation. The three main types of heroes include an
epic hero, superhero, and your own personal hero. These heroes show that it s more
than the cape or armour they wear, they show the true meaning of a hero by defining
sacrifice, loyalty, and determination. Throughout the epic poem Beowulf, Beowulf
displays the characteristics of an epic hero because he shows courage and loyalty to
those around him by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As told within the movie, Peter Parker s grandmother believes there s a hero in all
of us; gives us strength, makes us noble, even though some items we have to give
up the things we love the most (Sami Raimi). Neither Spiderman nor his alter ego,
Peter Parker, ever showed any signs of fear(Spiderman). His incredible bravery
allowed for him to fight relentlessly. As we grow up throughout life, we hold onto
many heroes as they have impacted our life. Looking into my personal life, my
hero consists of my mother, Darla Linden. She defined a hero as a person stepping
up in a situation without thinking they also are in harm s way (Linden, Darla).
Throughout my lifetime my mom has been there for me since day one and has
helped nurtured me.. She sacrifices many things for myself and for my family by
providing us with our daily needs. I can always count on her to point me in the
right direction by pursuing my dreams and wishes. I admire her caring heart and
faithfulness the most because she would drop anything instantly to help someone
else in need. She supports me in all of my extra curricular activities and motivates
myself to bring out my full potential. I get inspired by her courageous character by
never backing down to a challenge and always finishing through. When I asked my
mom who she picked as her hero she said, the service men and women of all
branches who fight for our country (Linden, Darla). They provide us with safety by
sacrificing
I Choose Soccer
Student life, life that is all and only about enlightenment, social presence and
activities of one s choice. Today, almost all schools in the United States provide their
students with the opportunities to participate in activities extending the curriculum
known extracurricular activities. Where one institution may provide limited
number of activities other may have more activities available than one can count!
If I was given the opportunity to pick an activity of my choice to employ my time,
I would blissfully choose the sport of soccer. I would choose the sport of soccer
because of the benefits of fitness and potential future towards the sport. Soccer is one
of the oldest sports in history that derived from ancient roman soldiers kicking around

In some cases, girls admit that being told to change or being sent home sometimes lowers their self esteem, especially when the boys are also breaking dress codebut are not getting in trouble for it. Girls are told that a boys educationis more important than their own. Even though most young men will admit they are not distracted by the clothing girls wear, the excuse, boys will be boys is used to disregard their behavior and are not punished for their actions. Young women are being sexuallized for the clothing they wear and are being told they need to cover up for the sake of their safety, instead of teaching young men to control themselves. As women, we are told to cover our bodies and not show anything that society says is inappropriate that could potentially distract a boy. On public school campuses, young girls are told that even the slightest bit of skin is inappropriate. They are told that their shoulders, mid thighs and midriffs are considered distracting to a boy s learning environment. Ellen Friedrichs said in 2014, Any confidence and pride she might take in her appearance is automatically stripped from her when she is dressed inappropriately. Young girls are being body shamed for being confident in their own skin. Over 70% of girls ages 15 to 17 avoid normal daily activities, such as attending school,

Under government coercion, the protagonist Winston lives a miserable life with no freedom even in his own thoughts, because everyone is forced to believe what the government told them instead of developing their own thoughts. From Winston s response to O Brien s questions in the previous paragraph, it is demonstrated that he is determined in the revolution, and he is not afraid of anything but losing Julia. Winston is tortured in the Ministry of Love, but the torture only destroys his body, his mind is never destroyed. It is the same for all the prisoners in the Ministry of Love. However, when the prisoners are told that they will be taken to room 101, they all appear desperate and mentally destroyed. When the skull faced man is told that he will be sent to room 101, he cried Comrade! Officer! You don t have to take me to that place! Haven t I told you everything already? What else is it you want to know? There s nothing I wouldn t confess, nothing! Just tell me what it is and I ll confess straight off. Write it down and I ll sign it anything! Not room 101! Methicillin-Resistant Mythoiccus Aureus (MRSA) Antibiotic resistance which can be defined as the ability of bacteria and other microorganisms to resist the effects of an antibiotic to which they were once sensitive.8 Antibiotic resistance mainly results from misuse of antibiotics which can be categorized as intensive and extended use of antibiotics in human and veterinary treatments where antibiotics were not required and improper disposal of antibiotics in both hospital environment and community which in turn results an environmental impact too. Among the resistant bacterial strains Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) is the major resistant pathological strain which is resistant to almost all antibiotics available in the world in turn very difficult to cure and life threatening. ... Intrinsic resistance is achieved by spontaneous gene mutation through replication where acquired resistance results as an adaptation technique when bacteria in contact with antibiotic. Pathogenic bacteria can gain resistance through several mechanisms such as acquire modification of active site of the bacteria in turn results in reduction in the efficacy of binding of the drug, direct modification or destruction of antibiotic by enzymes produced by bacteria or efflux of antibiotic from the bacterial cell through efflux pumps. Bacterial species accomplish spreading the resistance through horizontal gene transfer mechanisms such as transformation, transduction and conjugation via plasmids. Antibiotic resistance has evolved as a result of the interactions between bacteria and antibiotic after an antibiotic exposure. Bacterial species are capable of adapting to new antibiotic as simply as they adapt to new environments due to their amazing genomic plasticity. This in turn results antibiotic resistance to be very dynamic and unpredictable. Every year, almost 100,000 Americans die from antibiotic resistant infections acquired from hospitals, largely because of the reduced effectiveness of existing drugs, due to the development and propagation of drug resistance

A Music Faculty Recital At Prince George s Community College A Music Faculty Recital at Prince George s Community College was actually the very first concert I ve been to that included Baroque style. The environment created a nostalgic yet modern and elegant mood; something that made you feel like you were in the late 1700 s yet still in modern times. The songs were mostly enjoyable and we re all well played. This concert included an ensemble: the flute, the cello, the piano, and the harpsichord. Peggy Bair, who played the flute, was very enthusiastic. Irma Cripe, who played the cello, was quiet for the first part of the concert but gradually became more important throughout the concert. And lastly, the virtuous Gary Kirkeby, who played the piano and harpsichord, served as the backbone of all parts of the concert and made this concert very enjoyable. When the concert first began, the three instrumentalists walked with energy despite their age. The first song, Sonata I in G Major Op. 2, Nr. 1 by Michel Blavet, was a Baroque Sonata. There were five movements and was played by the harpsichord, flute, and cello. All movements of the song were polyphonic because of the three instruments that had different parts and equal importance. In the first movement, I noticed that the flute tended to rise in pitch. In the second movement, I noticed that the melodies often repeated. Throughout the rest of the song the tempo changed from fast to slow and the flute would usually take the lead. On the last movement, the cello and the harpsichord
  • 8. Essay on No Tax Dollars for Religious Education No Tax Dollars for Religious Education Tax dollars are your money at work. Do you want your money to go to fund private religious schools? Tax dollars should not fund religious education because it is a violation of the separation of church and state clause of the first amendment to the constitution. Lately we have seen proposals for vouchers. These vouchers are public money given to low income family so they may send their kids to private schools. Most of the schools who use this program are religious. In the Cleveland voucher program we see there were 3,761 children are enrolled and 96 percent of those children are attending religious schools. Also 82 percent of the participating schools were sectarian. This voucher ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bush s education bill by a 58 to 41 vote. Private schools would be taking necessary money away from publics schools. As the ACLU notices vouchers would essentially drain the public school system of tens of millions of dollars. Public schools rely on only tax dollars to fund their schools therefore taking it away and giving it to already profiting private schools could be disastrous. By choosing to be a private school it means it is nonpublic and therefore should not be aloud to accept public funds. Another problem with the voucher programs is the issue of civil rights. Private schools are aloud to choose who they let in their school therefore being able to privately discriminate. If public dollars are going into these schools there has to be anti discriminatory codes set up for the schools to abide by so everyone has a free chance. Some would say the money we give to the parents is not being used in religious ways and so it does not violate the separation of church and state. It could be used for the bus, which transports them to and from school everyday or for books. But you can t regulate what the money you give a person is spent on. It could be used for schooling or even the book they buy with it may be a religious book. Another good point about the vouchers is they give under privileged children a chance to choose the school they would want to attend. But they could use the money they are giving to the child to leave the school to fix it
  • 9. Differential Equations Of A Nonlinear System 5.1 Linearization It can be seen clearly by the system s equation that the model belongs to a nonlinear system. Normal differential equations can be created by the conversion of the system into state space model format. When a control law is designed, Lagrange equations of motion (9) are reformatted. To be able to carry this out, a state vector is introduced which is as follows. x= (Оё Оё М‡ )^T To be able to apply the LQR technique on the system, linearization is important. Therefore the nonlinear model of the system turns into: Оё М€= D^( 1) CОё М‡ D^( 1) G+D^( 1) Hu (14) After putting the variables of the system matrices in the above generalisation and their derivatives, the system equation is as follows: x М‡=(в– (0 I@0 D^( 1) C))x+(в– (0@гЂ– DгЂ—^( 1) C))+(в– (0@D^( 1) H))u (15) Where I and 0 are identity and zero matrices respectively. The system equation can be rewritten as: x М‡=f(x)+g(x)u (16) Where f(x)=(в– (0 I@0 D^( 1) C))x+(в– (0@гЂ– DгЂ—^( 1) C)) (17) g(x)=(в– (0@D^( 1) H)) (18) 5.2 Linear

Due to high population, Miami is the fourth largest city to become affected by sea level rise. (Ankum et al.) In the next 32 50 years, sea level is expected to rise by as much as two feet. (Ankum et al.) This two foot rise will have detrimental effects on the urban settings of Miami. The amount of soil erosion that is undergoing at our beaches will greatly increase if a two foot rise occurs. At a four foot rise, road connectivity would begin to become affected. At a six foot rise, Southern Floridawould no longer be habitable as it would, for the most part, be underwater. Not much is being invested in mitigation efforts, most of what is being done are short term solutions. Climate isn t the only thing changing, our environments are changing too. Our lakes are becoming polluted and eutrophic (Scavia et al.), which causes the overgrowth of algae and death of many of the species found within the lakes. Before the Requiem there was a brief piece titled The Strauss Serenade. The Miami University Symphony Orchestra conducted by Ricardo Averbach, the Chamber Singers conducted by William Bausano, and the Collegiate Chorale conducted by Jeremy D. Jones performed the Requiem. The main similarity between Requiem, Opera and Oratorio is that they are all complex works of music. An Opera is generally a kind of music that borrows a lot from the art scenes. Opera involves a lot of acting, scenery and also a lot of costumes are used during its performance. An opera piece can also involve dancing and it is often done in a theatre setting. During the Baroque Era, opera performances gained a lot of publicity especially in Italy. It involved a lot of comic dances, which was the main attraction to the audiences. As years went by, the actors came up with high level of costume design, which helped to raise the competition among these works even higher (Meetze). The people held the authors of opera pieces at that time in high esteem, and they remained influential individuals in the society. On the other hand, Oratorio is a kind of opera that does not involve use of costumes and play acting. It often involves topics, which one would consider sacred, so it is most often performed in church. Unlike non oratorio opera whose main topics include

As the two nations expanded and came into contact more and more tensions began to rise and suspicions turned into hostility in what would be a precursor to the cold war between the Soviet Union and the United States of the 20th century, Rome and Carthage would come to compete with one another for supremacy of the known world. • 36. Argumentative Essay On Edward Scissorhands In Tim Burton s movie, Edward Scissorhands, he claims that when one seems different from the other, then people do not accept them for who they are because they are not like them and they are not willing to accept a new change that has come to their life. He illustrates this by making Edward stand out,so he has him only wearing black and white whereas all the other people are wearing colourful clothes; he says that Jim is mad at Edward because Edward stole his girlfriend from, then he makes fun of him for not being human behind his back because he is a machine; he moreover implies that Edward looks dark and scary when really he is sweet, nice, and unique, however, the town is colourful but the people are not, they are just bland and cruel people. Burton exaggerates the fact that Edward is different from the others by adding scissors for hands and making him wear all black and have pale skin making him look like he has a scary look even though he is sweet like candy, while the townspeople are colourful but cruel like villains; he additionally points out that people have to tolerate him but Kim has accepted him for he is, he demonstrates that by letting people know that even though Edward is different, he can still love. Although the author has advised that everyone should be treated fairly, he has more suggested that some people are not used the change that Edward has brought to this town; Burton has advanced that everyone is different and everyone should be treated fairly no matter what they look like or what problems they have. The person that was not fitting in the town, besides the police officer, is Edward. He is the one that stands out the most in the movie. He wears black clothing and has a pale white skin with black hair. Throughout the movie, he wears clothes given by Peg but then rips them up in the end because he wanted to be his true self. The most ironic thing is that Peg says to Edward to just be himself when she is changing his face and clothes with makeup and Peg s husband s old clothes. The townspeople wanted to get rid of him because after a while they were scared that he would harm someone and that he didn t blend in with everyone else, so they call the cops and try to get Edward

Everyday Use, is narrated by the mother or Mama, an African American woman living in the deep South of Rural Georgia with one of her two daughters. The family is living in very poor conditions, they do not have fancy things, and the mother does all the work herself. The story begins with Mama and Maggie awaiting on Dee, a college student, to arrive at home from college. When Dee went off to college she thought that her heritage was old and out of style, but when she came back home for a visit she insists on taking many things from home. Dee also changed her name to Wangero, so she would not have the same name as someone else in her family. She wants these different artifacts of her heritage because she wants to show them off for fashion and use them for decorations. Dee points out the things that she thinks will stand out the most, such as the quilt, dashers, and the benches. Mama or Mrs. Johnson, does not allow Dee to take anything but the dashers. She knows that Dee will not respectthe things that their ancestors made. Mama and Maggie respect their heritage very much and does not want anyone to use the artifacts in the wrong way. In the short storyEveryday Use, Alice Walker applies the literary technique of irony to emphasize heritage as part of one daily life. The Johnson family has many problems throughout the household. Mrs. Johnson has a harsh and difficult life; however, her daughters does not make it any better. Mama does not have a lot to show for, but what she does have she appreciates and cares for it very much. Their home was not that nice, there were many things wrong with it, but that is where it shows your culture and heritage of your past. Dee left home because she did not like the way her mama was living, she went off to college to try to better herself. Maggie, the youngest daughter, is a very dull and unattractive girl. Walker writes, Have you ever seen a lame animal, perhaps a dog run over by some careless person rich enough to own a car, sidle up to someone who is

The Superego In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies The poor ego has a still harder time of it; it has to serve three harsh masters, and it has to do its best to reconcile the claims and demands of all three...The three tyrants are the external world, the superego, and the id. Sigmund Freud. The human mind is a constant battle between the devious nature of the id, challenges from the external world, and the moralistic and logical views of the superego. In Lord of the Flies, William Goldingpresents the notion that both the id and superego have special circumstances under which they can win over the ego. Golding uses Jack to symbolize the id, Piggy the superego, and Ralph the ego in order to convey that the id has only been suppressed by order. Golding uses Ralph to represent the ego in that he is controlled by the id when order is not present, while the superego controls him when it is. When Jack enacts his first dance with his hunters, Ralph acts sensible and calls an assembly. He preaches to the group that the smoke is more important than the pig... make smoke up there or die (81). Ralph clearly suppresses the id in one of his first speeches. He voices logic and reason to the boys, not quick acquisition of pleasure that Jack advocates for. This comes so easily to him because he is surrounded by the order of the camp, where the superego rules. Yet, when he is in Jack s world of savagery and barbarism, the id possesses a notable authority. Ralph, Jack, and a few others are reenacting a pig hunt when Ralph briefly
