2. WHAT RESOURCES DO YOU NEED FOR YOUR
DOCUMENTARY.
• For my documentary I will need two cameras two tripods and two Sd cards. I will also need a mic for
one of the cameras to improve the audio quality. If I did not use a mic while filming the audio quality
could end up sound up muffled which would lower the overall quality of my documentary. I used two
cameras for my documentary as well the reasons I done this was
3. EQUIPMENT: CAMERA
• I used two canon dslr cameras to film my documetary
one of theses cameras were placed straight forward
the other was at an angle. I done this so that when
people are watching my documentary it will be
harder to notice the cut between questions as the
angle of the camera will change.
4. EQUIPMENT: MICROPHONES
This an example of the microphone attachment that I
used. This would allow me to have. Better audio quality
I used a mic on one of the cameras to improve the audio
quality. If I did not use a mic while filming the audio
quality could end up sound up muffled which would lower
the overall quality of my documentary.
5. EQUIPMENT: TRIPODS
I used a tripod to keep the cameras steady. If a tripod had
not been used my footage may be Shakey and hard to watch
which would make my documentary look cheap and
unprofessional. It was also important that I use a tripod as i
would be recording for long periods of time the camera
would be unstable.
6. EQUIPMENT: SD CARD
This is an example of the SD card that I used t capture my footage and tat
would allow me to transfer the footage from the camera to the computer
which I will edit the footage on.
7. WHY DID YOU FILM IN THE STUDIO?
• I decided to film most of my documentary which includes the interviews in the studio I done this as it
had a black back drop which would make the interviews look the most professional and would not the
viewer from the actor in the shot. Another reason we filmed in the studio was because of the lighting
that was provided in the studio that would create a good atmosphere for my documentary. In order to
use the studio, I had to schedule an amount of time in the studio we where in the studio for a total of
three hours although there is only about 7 minutes footage from the studio it took bout 30 minutes to
set up and about 10 mins to pack away, this is due to experimenting with where the camera placements
should be and the placements of the lighting. The rest of the time was spent trying to get the best
possible takes.
8. HOW DID YOU ORGANIZE YOUR CAST AND CREW
• I organized my cast and crew by scheduling a time to meet and
letting them know how long we would be filming for. Before the
filming I let my cast and crew know what roles they would have to
do. I also let the cast know what the question were going to be,
before the interview so that they could prepare better answers.
9. CAMERA SETTINGS
• I used a canon dslr camera I filmed at 24fps at 1080p at a
standard ISO rate of 800 this was the same for both
cameras.
10. WHERE THERE ANY ISSUES, IF SO HOW DID YOU
SOLVE THEM?
• One of the issues that I had was with the lights that I used in the studio. While
using the lights we had them on the maximum brightness to insure that the
cast was well lit, however after the lights where on for roughly 10 minutes
they would dim. To fix this issue we would have to adjust the lights after each
question was asked this meant it took slightly longer in between shots but it
ensured that the cast was able to be seen on the shot.
