WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNT ABOUT
TECHNOLOGIES FROM THE
PROCESS OF CONSTRUCTING THIS
PRODUCT?
2. THE BLOG
What was it used for?
• Displaying work
• Sharing clip analyses
• Discussing technique
• Giving example
• Planning shoots
Problems
• The internet could be problematic
• If people were late in completing work, it became
disordered
The blog was overall a very useful technology to use
3. THE BLOG: COMMUNICATING
The comment
function was used
on the blog in order
to collaborate.
We used it in this
instance to discuss
sourcing of props
and costume.
We could share useful
clips- like those we
analysed, showing the
group what we learned
and our views on
certain techniques.
I shared a compilation
clip about mirror shots
that I found on youtube
during school holidays.
4. OTHER TECHNOLOGIES
• Used prezi for a moodboard- it allowed
effect navigation of concepts
• Pitch was completed on ppt
• We used survey monkey as a questionnaire,
sent out on social media
• YouTube was used to host videos
6. EDITING- SOUND AND CLIPS
Used a Dictaphone to
capture the sound of ghostly
voices, which Joe then
imported into Cubase (I sat
and gave opinions on
changes and discussed
potential placement of
audio)
Inconsistencies in lighting, or carelessness with
furniture placements were an issue in many of
the clips, so I made use of Photoshop to create
vignettes, which dimmed lighting or cast
shadow effects over unwanted items (before
and after images to be added)
Using a red balance or blue balance,
alongside a tint in the shots
prevented a major difference in
colour grading. The tint also made
the space feel colder and more
desolate- it represented the emptiness
within the man’s soul.
7. MAKING AND USING THE TITLES
I contributed to
the choice on
font style and
colour- picking
one that
represented a
sense of disorder.
The titles could be used to mask continuity
issues, as they included a cut to a black screen.
Although most of the editing is continuous
when it is meant to be, one or two of the
shots were a little out.
9. LIGHTING
• Lots of different lighting was used, including a softbox and a dimmer
lamp.
• Getting these the same at every shoot proved tricky
• They were good for capturing emotive expression more clearly in the dark
room- this was important because psychological horror relies on emotion
and empathy.

10. CAMERA
• In the first shoot we used a
DSLR, with a lens designed for low
lighting- unfortunately an accident
occurred, damaging the camera, so it
could not be used again
•
Instead we used a bridge camera for
shoots 2 & 3
The cameras both reduced how
grainy the shots were, in comparison
to a standard HD camcorder

The change in camera is slightly obvious in the change of ima.ge qualitythe latter was worse
11. TRIPOD
• This was useful in getting steady shots
• We learned from mistakes, regarding the
fixing of he camera to the tripod- as it did
fall off at one point.
• It was a challenge to eliminate all jerkiness
in movement
