 In this presentation we will going to talk about the
disease i.e. Dengue , Malaria , Typhoid
 Firstly there is an introduction about this disease and
types of the following diseases
 And at last we will give the information about the
prevention and treatment of this disease…
Death caused by disease p.a.
Dengue
Each year, it is
estimated that 390
million people dies
due to dengue
Malaria
Each year, it is
estimated that 212
million people dies
due to malaria
Typhoid
Each year, it is
estimated that
200,000 people
dies due to typhoid
DENGUE
Dengue is a mosquito- brone viral infection
causing a severe flu – like illness and,
someimes causing a potentially lethal
complication called severe dengue
The dengue virus {DEN} comprises four
distinct serotypes{ DEN-1 , DEN-2 , DEN-3 ,
DEN-4} which belong to the genus
falvivirus,family falviviridae
TypesOfDengue
 The fever of dengue is mainly categorized in
three categories….
 DENGUE FEVER {DF}
 DENGUE HEMORRHAGIC FEVER {DHF}
 DENGUE SHOCK SYNDROME {DSS}…..
DENGUE FEVER{DF}
 Adults and grown up children are more prone to being
affected with these symptoms while young children quite
often do not show these at all
DENGUE HEMORRHAGIC FEVER{DHF}
 DHF is a complication of disease that can be fatal. It
usually occurs if you have dengue infection more than
once. The symptoms of DHF are similar to DV but latter
become severe.
DENGUE SHOCK SYNDROME{DSS}
 If you are forewarned about the signs of Dengue Shock
Syndrome(DSS),which follows DHF, the patient can
survive. DSS is the severest condition of dengue fever
in which the chances of survival is only 45%.
There is no specific medicine to treat dengue infection. If you think you may
have dengue fever , you should use pain relievers with Acetaminophen and
avoid medicine with Aspirin which could worsen bleeding. You should also
rest , drink plenty of fluids , and see your doctor. If you start to feel worse in
first 24 hours after your fever goes down , you should get to a hospital
immediately to be checked for complications…..

malaria
 Malaria is a life-threatening disease caused by
parasites that are transmitted to people through the
bites of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes. It is
preventable and curable.
 Malaria is caused by plasmodium parasites. The
parasites are spread to people through the bites of
infected female Anopheles mosquitoes, called
“Malaria Vectors”
Typesofmalaria
 There are five species of plasmodium
parasites that affect humans. Two of them
are considered the most dangerous…
 P. FALCIPARUM
 P.VIVAX
P.FALCIPARUM
 This is the most common malaria parasite in
Africa , and it causes the most malaria- related
deaths in the world. P.falciparum multiplies very
quickly , causing severe blood loss and clogged
blood vessels.
P.VIVAX
 This is the malaria parasite most commonly
found outside of sub-Saharan Africa , especially
in Asia and Latin America. This species can lie
dormant , then rise up to infect your blood
months or years after the mosquito bite.
Malaria is a preventable and treatable disease .The primary objective of
treatment is to ensure complete cure, that is the rapid and full elimination
of the Plasmodium parasite from the patient’s blood, in order to prevent
progression of uncomplicated malaria to severe disease or death, and to
chronic infection that leads to malaria – related Anameia . From a public
health perspective , treatment is meant to reduce transmission of the
infection to others..
Treatmentofmalaria
 Typhoid fever is a systematic infection
caused by salmonella typhi, usually through
ingestion of contaminated food or water. The
acute illness is characterized by prolonged
fever, headache, nausea, and constipation or
sometimes diarrhoea.
Typesoftyphoid
 The virus of typhoid is are of mainly two types
1. Typhoidal Salmonella
2. Non-Typhodial Salmonella
TYPHODIAL SALMONELLA
 Which is made up of bacterial strains that
cause typhoid fever or paratyphoid fever ,
including salmonella typhi, paratyphi A,
paratyphi B , and paratyphi C…
NON-THPHODIAL SALMONELLA
 This causes about 1.2 million illness and 450
deaths each year in the US. Salmonella
Typhimurium and Salmonella Enteritidis are
the most common strains…
Typhoid fever is treated with antibiotics.
Resistance to antibiotics is increasing in the bacteria that cause typhoid
fever and paratyphoid fever .When bacteria are resistant to antibiotics , the
bacteria are not killed and their growth is not stopped. To help guide
treatment , your doctor may order special test to see if your type of
Salmonella is antibiotic- resistant..
