PROGRAM
PHILOSOPHY ON DISCIPLINE
Discipline is a training that is expected to produce a
specific character or pattern of behavior; it is a training
that produces moral or mental improvement. It is vital to
the well-being and successful development of students
so that they will have clear, consistent, and appropriate
limits on behavior. It develops a positive sense of selfesteem, and independent, responsible and caring
behavior on the part of the students. In disciplining a
student, the primary goal is to instill in him/her the values
of an ideal person, in particular an ideal ECSSian
imbued with values such as Faith in God, Excellence,
Respect for Human Dignity, and Social Justice.
Discipline is imposed to correct, guide and
strengthen the student’s character.
OBJECTIVES
This program aims to:
 gain willing acceptance of the rules and
regulations of the school;
 provide guidance and proper orientation to
students’ development rather than imposing
punishment on them;
 assist school administrators, faculty, parents
and students in resolving discipline related
concerns in a less-threatening manner
 provide a healthy and hazard free community;
and
 uphold the good name of every student, faculty
member, and the institution as well.

INTERVENTION SERVICE
STEPS TO BE OBSERVED IN
PROCESSING INFRACTION
The class/ homeroom adviser/ subject teacher
handles ALL (minor / major) disciplinary
problems in the class. They are tasked to make
the initial investigation, documentation and
report.
The Prefect of Discipline reviews disciplinary
cases submitted by the teachers and
recommends proper sanctions.
The Prefect of Discipline handles habitual
offenders and those who commit offenses. He is
tasked with the preliminary conference with
parents of offenders. He also keeps documented
reports of offenses.
The Committee on Discipline is tasked to review
cases that merit suspension, non- readmission,
withdrawal, exclusion and/or expulsion.
The Committee on Discipline submits
recommendation/s to the Principal and School
Director for review/ approval (if
recommendations are suspension, non-

Due Process and Legal Aspect of
Discipline
The students and parents must be informed in
writing of the nature and cause of any
accusation against them.
They shall have the right to answer the
charges against them. They can ask the
assistance of a legal counsel if desired.
They shall be informed of the evidence
against them.
They shall have the right to adduce evidence
in their behalf; and
The evidence shall be considered by the
investigating committee or officials designated
by the school authorities to hear and decide
the case.
CRISIS INTERVENTION
After penalties have been meted and
there are students who cannot handle
such infraction, they can be referred to
the Guidance office for a better
understanding of themselves and their
behavior.

Discipline Formation Program

  • 1. ESCUELA CATOLICA DE SAN SEBASTIAN PINAGBUHATAN, PASIG CITY SY 2013-2014 DISCIPLINE FORMATION PROGRAM
  • 2. PHILOSOPHY ON DISCIPLINE Discipline is a training that is expected to produce a specific character or pattern of behavior; it is a training that produces moral or mental improvement. It is vital to the well-being and successful development of students so that they will have clear, consistent, and appropriate limits on behavior. It develops a positive sense of selfesteem, and independent, responsible and caring behavior on the part of the students. In disciplining a student, the primary goal is to instill in him/her the values of an ideal person, in particular an ideal ECSSian imbued with values such as Faith in God, Excellence, Respect for Human Dignity, and Social Justice. Discipline is imposed to correct, guide and strengthen the student’s character.
  • 3. OBJECTIVES This program aims to:  gain willing acceptance of the rules and regulations of the school;  provide guidance and proper orientation to students’ development rather than imposing punishment on them;  assist school administrators, faculty, parents and students in resolving discipline related concerns in a less-threatening manner  provide a healthy and hazard free community; and  uphold the good name of every student, faculty member, and the institution as well.
  • 6. INTERVENTION SERVICE STEPS TO BE OBSERVED IN PROCESSING INFRACTION The class/ homeroom adviser/ subject teacher handles ALL (minor / major) disciplinary problems in the class. They are tasked to make the initial investigation, documentation and report. The Prefect of Discipline reviews disciplinary cases submitted by the teachers and recommends proper sanctions. The Prefect of Discipline handles habitual offenders and those who commit offenses. He is tasked with the preliminary conference with parents of offenders. He also keeps documented reports of offenses. The Committee on Discipline is tasked to review cases that merit suspension, non- readmission, withdrawal, exclusion and/or expulsion. The Committee on Discipline submits recommendation/s to the Principal and School Director for review/ approval (if recommendations are suspension, non- Due Process and Legal Aspect of Discipline The students and parents must be informed in writing of the nature and cause of any accusation against them. They shall have the right to answer the charges against them. They can ask the assistance of a legal counsel if desired. They shall be informed of the evidence against them. They shall have the right to adduce evidence in their behalf; and The evidence shall be considered by the investigating committee or officials designated by the school authorities to hear and decide the case.
  • 7. CRISIS INTERVENTION After penalties have been meted and there are students who cannot handle such infraction, they can be referred to the Guidance office for a better understanding of themselves and their behavior.

CATEGORIES OF OFFENSE AND CORRESPONDING SANCTIONS: Minor Offences: Major Offenses: First Offense: First Offense: Oral Reprimand/Warning Community Service and 73 % grade in Conduct Second Offense: Second Offense: Written Warning, Parent’s Conference and 70% to 74% in Deportment Community Service, 70% in conduct, Strong contract and Suspension Third Offense: Third Offense: Violation Record, Conference with Parents and 70% grade in Conduct and Suspension Dismissal/ Exclusion
