If bitten by a venomous snake, seek emergency medical help immediately as antivenom drugs may help. Symptoms of a snake bite vary depending on the snake but can include puncture marks, swelling, pain, nausea, vomiting, breathing difficulties, changes in heart rate and blood pressure, and numbness. For first aid, lay down with the bite elevated, remove jewelry before swelling occurs, wash the bite with soap and water, and cover it with a clean dry dressing. Do not attempt to suck out venom, cut or slash the wound, apply tourniquets, ice or folk remedies.
