After the expansion of the EU, risk areas expanded and cross-country cooperation became essential for disaster management. Coordination of different authorities from different countries is needed during emergencies but their different priorities, methods, languages and approaches can cause issues. Collaboration must include regional, cross-border and cross-country cooperation between authorities to define responsibilities, coordinate activities and provide required infrastructure. The private sector also has an important role in prevention, preparedness, response and recovery.
