DIRECT ROPE HAULAGE SYSTEM
DIRECT ROPE HAULAGE SYSTEM USED IN MINES FOR HAULING MINERALS
❖ DIRECT ROPE HAULAGE
SYSTEM
•Direct rope haulage system used in mines for hauling
minerals.
•It is the simplest system of hauling minerals from
mines
DIRECT ROPE HAULAGE
SYSTEM
❖ OBJECTIVE
o Direct rope haulage types.
oDirect rope haulage diagram.
o Safety devices.
oSingle drum direct rope haulage.
o Double drum direct rope haulage.
o Applicablity of direct rope haulage.
oAddvatage and Disaddvantage.
❖TYPES OF ROPE HAULAGE
•Single drum direct rope haulage.
•Double drum direct rope haulage.
❖ SINGLE DRUM DIRECT
ROPE HAULAGE
• This is the simplest system of rope haulage.
• It consists of one track, one rope & one drum which are
connected to a motor through gear.
• One end of the rope is connected with the train of tubs on
the track & another end of rope is connected to the drume.
❖SINGLE DRUM DIRECT ROPE HAULGA
❖SINGLE DRUM DIRECT ROPE
HAULAGE
•Haulage way to gravity gradient 1 in 10.
•Haulage engine situated in tope of gradient.
•Power not required when tubs are move to downword.
•The angle of main track and branch track most efficient
is 40°.
❖ APPLICABLE CONDITION
• It consist inclination working.
• Deep area required for installation.
• It can be work as main haulage.
❖ IMPORTANT POINTS
➢Gradient 1 in 10.
➢Speed 8 - 10 km /h
➢Safety Device = backstay , stop block , drop warwick ,
buffer jazz , tube reraile , combined stope block , run away
switch and man hole.
➢Motor = slip ring motor used with drum controller.
➢Break = caliper break
➢Track gauge = 0.6.
❖ SINGLE DRUM DIRECT ROPE
ADDVANTAGE HAULAGE
➢Layout and operation is simple
➢High speed
➢Single track required
➢It consist long distance
❖ SINGLE DRUM DIRECT ROPE
DISADDVANTAGE
➢High peak power dimand.
➢Strong break system needed.
➢Not use for less gradient.
➢High supervision needed.
➢High speed maintenance required.
❖ DOUBLE DRUM DIRECT ROPE
HAULAGE
• This is the simplest system of rope haulahe . It consist of
two rope , two drum , two track but only driving motar .
One end of each rope is connected with two drem &
another end of the rope is connected with the set of tubs .
• In such way that when one set of tub is at incline top. The
another set is at incline bottom.
DOUBLE DRUM DIRECT ROPE
HAULAGE
• The two drum are connected with each other. When the
drume rotates, the rope coil on the drum & uncoils from
another drum
• It can be used if inclination is more than 1 in 12.
• The speed of the system is 8 to 12 km/h.
❖DOUBLE DRUM DIRECT ROPE
HAULAGE
❖DOUBLE DRUM DIRECT ROPE
HAULAGE
❖ DOUBLE DRUM DIRECT ROPE
HAULAGE ADDVANTAGE
➢Higher output.
➢Less power demand.
➢Branched road can also be served , if greadient is
suitable.
❖ DOUBLE DRUM DIRECT ROPE
HAULAGE DISADDVANTAGE
➢Wider roads required .
➢Efficient breaking system required for downward journey .
➢High speed haulage demands more maintenance of track
.
➢Cannot be used for less incline roadways .
➢A derailment is associated with heavy damages .
➢Due to hige speed more dust , more wear & tear .
