Here I exercise the concept and definition of Digital DNA, showing by example cases of analog vs digital companies.
I also describe the 5 elements that make-up a Digital DNA.
What does the future look like? Is it a dark space where we’re suffering from varying degrees of techamphetamine or are we heading towards a Utopian fantasy of abundance and harmony?
Understanding that our basic human needs and wants barely change, we explore the future state of a range of topics; from our need for physical sustenance through to our age-long fascination of transcending the limitations of our biology.
Looking at the future from a human perspective, our potential for greatness is teetering on a fine line between darkness and hope. We’re banking on the latter.
The ultimate challenge for the current generation of interaction designers is to create a cohesive ecosystem of devices, web-connected objects and cloud services. Designing products in isolation is not the right approach. New paradigms are emerging. It is a great time to be a designer. These are the slides I used in my three-hour workshop at UXPA China. Developing a Roadmap for Digital TransformationJohn Sinke
Digitally mature companies out-perform their peers in innovation, agility and responsiveness to customers. “Digirati” also enjoy advantages in efficiency and effectiveness in product delivery, marketing, e-commerce, sales and customer service. More importantly, companies that achieve Digital Excellence are 26% more profitable (source: Capgemini Consulting and MIT Centre for Digital Business).
However, building a Roadmap for Digital Transformation requires not only successful collaboration between the CMO and the CIO, it also demands a strong customer-focused orientation and digital culture. During this presentation, John Sinke will share insights from leading marketers and his personal experience of turning Resorts World Sentosa into a “digital business”.
Building an enduring, multi-billion dollar consumer technology company is hard. As an investor, knowing which startups have the potential to be massive and long-lasting is also hard. From both perspectives, identifying companies with this potential is a combination of “art” and “science” — the art is understanding how products work, and the science is knowing how to measure it. At the earliest stages of a company, it comes down to understanding how a product is built to maximize and leverage user engagement.
In this presentation, Sarah Tavel shares her "Hierarchy of Engagement" framework she uses to evaluate non-transactional consumer companies she is looking to invest in.

As designers and developers, we don’t always have access to research to about our end users, or the opportunity to learn about them. This can leave us building products based on our managers personal opinion, or client specifications, and never really knowing how we can serve our users better.
But the good news is there are many opportunities for user research that most designers and developers just aren’t aware of. They are cheap, easy to implement, and can used straight away on almost any project.
Lily will talk you through 3 methods of no excuse user research that you can use immediately on the websites, products, apps and services you work on every day.

Digital Transformation is a systematic approach to your business that applies digital thinking across everything you do, from the front office to the back office. It’s what we refer to as “The New Business of Digital.” The quote you see summarizes that thought well.
This is an important distinction because not only is there a direct, tangible improvement to the specific area that you change through digital technology and digital thinking—for example, replacing hard-copy documents with electronic documents—but there is a significant value-add as well.
Through Digital Transformation, your processes are:
Optimized through intelligent information capture
Streamlined by removing time-consuming steps
Replaced with a new, simpler way of doing things

Your enterprise can digitally transform by gaining insights from your data to improve the experience for your customers.
Enterprises need to make over all aspects of their business, because today’s customers expect frictionless experiences — and because new competitors launched with the latest technologies can change and respond to customers faster than mature companies.
Start with the fact that your enterprise has valuable assets that start-ups don’t — your customers. Fostering loyalty among these customers requires improving their interaction with not only your products and services, but also sales, billing, support and shipping operations. Successful companies count on digital technologies to transform the total customer experience. As consumers, we’ve come to expect digitally enabled products as the new normal. But what’s the next step for your enterprise? Find ways to translate into their business lives what people love and expect as consumers.
Enterprises can learn from the digital leaders who look for ways that apps and data can be added to products to create new value over time. Digital leaders use what they learn from the data to reshape core operations to drive the enterprise forward. What’s considered a core operation varies from industry to industry, but the common characteristic is that core operations make up a sizable portion of the enterprise budget. Gaining even a modest amount of efficiency through digital transformation can significantly impact the bottom line. Data also can be used to predict mechanical failure and to schedule preventive maintenance to avoid business disruptions.
Digital transformation begins with data. So how can your enterprise gain insights from your data to improve the experience for your customers?

Artificial Intelligence Empowering the Future of Digital Transformationijtsrd
Artificial Intelligence is not only about the machines that play an authoritative role in humans, but they both are working together. Machines provide the human with the ability of insight and perspective but the machines will not provide the decisive role of supplying judgement and creativity. There is a huge scope of artificial intelligence in this era. The combination of human creativity and technology together results in the excitement that can solve various problems and challenges related to the world. Digital transformation can be defined as a process whereby an organization shifts their business models, processes, and organizational culture with digital technologies to adapt to changing customer behaviors. They adapt to meet ever-changing customer expectations and engage with consumers in innovative ways. Transformational journeys require acurate assessments, learning, growth, and monitoring of:
1) People and Culture;
2) Capacity and Capabilities;
3) Innovation; and
4) Technology.

Digital technologies allow organizations to reinvent themselves – transforming the core of the business and finding and exploiting new sources of value. However, many organizations are struggling to reinvent themselves because they run up against a significant barrier – culture. Our research shows that culture is the number 1 barrier to digital transformation.
This edition of the Digital Transformation Review focuses on this critical, but neglected, topic:
How are large and traditional organizations tackling the thorny issue of digital culture?
What do digital-native firms do differently when it comes to digital culture?
What advice do leading academics have for organizations attempting to get digital culture change right?
We share the insights of key leaders and experts on this topic, representing the views of traditional companies, academia, and the Silicon Valley. We also outline Capgeminis’ point of view on how organizations can close the growing employee-leadership gap in digital culture, drawing on an extensive global survey.
Participation on the Maker and Design Discipline at Insper taught by super knowledgeable Heloísa Neves. I was invite to talk about Design Thinking.
The idea is to avoid the cliché post-its on the wall and workshop-like pictures and focus on Design Thinking's efficacy and pillar and why it matters to organisations.

In this presentation I demystify the idea that one can't innovate or that there isn't space for entrepreneurship in big companies. It's quite the opposite, the big companies that don't hire entrepreneurs and learn from their way of working will die sooner or later.
This presentation addresses the necessity of more targeted toolkits to focus the design process on the experience rather than on building prototypes.
It is a hypothetical exploration to try to understand how far we can push the design of toolkits.

Sketching in Hardware is a playground and a think tank for people working in physical computing in various environments. Inventors, teachers, designers and artists come together to explore, innovate and develop new practices and methodologies for utilizing toolkits to create new technologies.
Artificial intelligence (AI) offers new opportunities to radically reinvent the way we do business. This study explores how CEOs and top decision makers around the world are responding to the transformative potential of AI.
The case study discusses the potential of drone delivery and the challenges that need to be addressed before it becomes widespread.
Key takeaways:
Drone delivery is in its early stages: Amazon's trial in the UK demonstrates the potential for faster deliveries, but it's still limited by regulations and technology.
Regulations are a major hurdle: Safety concerns around drone collisions with airplanes and people have led to restrictions on flight height and location.
Other challenges exist: Who will use drone delivery the most? Is it cost-effective compared to traditional delivery trucks?
Discussion questions:
Managerial challenges: Integrating drones requires planning for new infrastructure, training staff, and navigating regulations. There are also marketing and recruitment considerations specific to this technology.
External forces vary by country: Regulations, consumer acceptance, and infrastructure all differ between countries.
Demographics matter: Younger generations might be more receptive to drone delivery, while older populations might have concerns.
Stakeholders for Amazon: Customers, regulators, aviation authorities, and competitors are all stakeholders. Regulators likely hold the greatest influence as they determine the feasibility of drone delivery.

innovation or productivity per resident increases by 15 percent. But
when companies get bigger, innovation or productivity per employee
generally goes down.
So we're trying to figure out how to structure Zappos more like a
city, and less like a bureaucratic corporation. In a city, people and
businesses are self-organizing. We're trying to do the same thing by
switching from a normal hierarchical structure to a system called
Holacracy, which enables employees to act more like entrepreneurs

tells them what to do.”
